in order to follow the various programmes.
• Computer aided classroom trainings must be
incorporated.
• The non officials must be provided with extra support in
addition to their training hours.
• E-learning modules needs to be re-modified according to
the working methods.
• Discussion sessions should be incorporated in order to
receive the feedbacks from the employees.
Suggestions
27. Conclusion
Learning and development allows the employees to cultivate
the prerequisite skills in a Strategic Business Unit.
The 70:20:10 model in the Training process for the Officers is
an effective process of Training Delivery.
It is important to gather knowledge on the Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs) related to Employees jobs and to trained
employees for skills enhancement.
E-learning cannot be replace with Classroom learning. Class-
room learning is a live process in presence of a faculty, it
becomes easier to clarify the doubts and includes a
communication process.

Good afternoon everyone. Myself Anannya Chakraborty from Future Institute of Engineering and Management. I am here to deliver a presentation on Learning and development: Reference to e-learning process in Tata Steel Tubes Strategic Business Unit. I have completed my vocational training programme from Tata Steel Tubes Strategic Business Unit from Jamshedpur area of Burma Mines.
Learning and development is a process to equip the employees the technologies and to the theoretical framework in the organisations. The employees enhance the capabilities with the development of the competencies required for an individual in the organisations. The competencies can be skills required, knowledge gathered and attitudes which involves the behavioural, psychological competencies. This development helps the employee to prepare for the higher responsibilities and also for the future endeavours.
In order to avoid stress, I have prepared my project report with the aid of various journals which I have summarized in my literature review sections of my research papers. I will now move forward to my next slide where the title, years and the findings are summarized in the tabulation formats.
Taghreed Katoua in the year 2016 finds in his journal titled ‘A Review of Literature on E-Learning Systems in higher education’ explains the complex e education systems and the costs and declared e learning as one among the many effective learning contexts.
The objectives of my research paper included the study of the process of Learning and development in Tata Steel Tubes Strategic Business Unit, the study if and only if the training programmes are effective and about the process and usage of E-learning in Tata Steel Tubes Strategic Business Unit.
My research methodology is a qualitative approach with the textual analysis. Datas are gathered through secondary sources and statistical are expressed on a qualitative scale.
The learning and development is described in four phases according to Kolbe and the model he has prepared is known as the Kolb s model of Learning and development. The learners are defined as concrete learners, reflective learners, abstract conceptualization and active experimentation. The practical knowledge is gathered by the concrete learners, the pondering over the various assumptions on why and if only this would have been in that manner is the reflective learning, the abstract conceptualization is the thinking on the new ideas generated from the reflections of our own thoughts and applying the knowledge as a part of experimenting in the real world and then back to the concrete learning phase to practically apply on the experimentations the individual has made on the active experimentation phase.
This video explains the four phase of learning that Kolb has mentioned.
As the learning and development is for the employees, the training is the mode of providing the learning to the employees by the employers. The training plan includes the following phases:-
The Needs identification for the training process- The requirements for the training programmes are identified and the employees are been trained with the aid of the specified skillsets they are lacking in themselves.
Analysis of training- The training is the only process the employees can develop themselves from. The training analysis is the specified level of training an employee is should be provided with. Ths analysis is through the questionnaires, surveys that may arise in the future.
Actual training delivery- The actual training is provided to the employees keeping in the minds the current working and developmental methods.
Training effectiveness- The training modules are prepared in such a manner so as to meet the requirements of the company by meeting the competencies.
The two process whereby the employees are trained effectively are the 70:20:10 model for the officials, the 4Q model for the non officials. These methods of training delivery in Tata Steel Tubes Strategic Business Unit are utilized for evaluating the effectiveness of the training.
E-learning is the electronic learning from the internet, mobile phones. CD-ROMs and through various sources. The electronic learning includes the Live E-classrooms, the Live video broadcasts and the self paced E-learning programs.
This is the video through which the safety training is been provided to the employees in Tata Steel Tubes Strategic Business Unit. I was sitting in the classrooms and this video was played through their internet of Tata Steel Tubes Strategic Business Unit and they gave me safety instructions with the aid of this safety video.
This is another instance where I had to sit in the classroom and the internet was provided and I had to complete my e learning through the online e learning modules from the DuPont E-learning suite created for various departments of the Tata Steel Tubes Strategic Business Unit.
Live video broadcasts includes the live events broadcasted through the coders, cameras, clouds and encoded to the televisions, computers, mobile phones and other devices playing in real time. The webinars are conducted and those are the live video broadcasts for the offices and educational areas. The cricket and football matches are recorded with the aid of cameras and broadcasted to the individuals watching the televisions. The reality shows are not in real time. They are intentionally been delayed by twenty four hours.
Self paced learning is the learning at an individual own pace. The two children started learning together but only one could learn faster and the other is still with his first learning which he had started. But then both are learning. The websites has a vast range of learning materials they are offering with.
I was not allowed to enter the plant area and was not allowed to visit other departments as thy had some internal issues. So I had to only conduct my analysis with the secondary datas I was provided with by my Industry mentor.
The workers wants the e-learning modules in their own language. Some of them do not prefer the English language.
The classrooms are not well equipped with the computers though I was provided with the Internet facilities for the E-learning modules.
This video describes the learning effectiveness in the geolgrraphy and how is that influencing all the individuals. E-learning as a global usage for learning and growth in todays world.
Thank you. Have a nice day.And I will commence my presentation implying to the motto ‘Learning and development is an ongoing process and that must be maintained in order to achieve success’. E-learning is the only effective measure to eradicate the process of uneducative attitude still prevailing in Tata Steel and all the workers associated with it. That would be a strong judgemental decision in that regards. So in order to eradicate the improper learning practices, Tata Steel should as well discuss in a proper methodology regarding the proper usage of E-learning with all the staff members and co workers working within the steel plant and allow the learning process with electronics efficiently. And also that they must maintain it on a regular basis.
