2. Content Sample For The Front Cover
I have come up with 5 sub-stories to be included on the front cover
● Backstage Of Milan Fashion Week - The ins and outs of fashion
week
● Bag It Or Not
● Has Instagram ruined Personal Style?
● The Risks of Fast Fashion
● Bella Hadid: My Big Break
3. Draft Ideas Front Cover Design
The masthead will be placed in
the top center of my cover. The
masthead will be in my chosen
font - Didot.
I have used Didot throughout all
of my sub-stories, so as to create
a uniform and classic look. I did
accentuate “Zeldi” as it is the main
story and I want it to capture the
audience’s eye.
I kept the focus on the main
image, so as to attract the
reader’s attention without
crowding the cover.
This main image later replaced
with a picture taken by me, so as
to have original images on the
magazine.
I will use a medium shot so as to
keep the focus on Zeldi while also
giving the reader’s a sneak peak
of her style, without revealing the
entire outfit.
4. Deconstruction Of Front Cover
● The digital front cover follows many magazine codes & convention, such as have masthead in
the top center of the magazine and having the sub-stories framing the main image. I think this
allows the magazine to be taken seriously as it follows a timeless magazine design while
staying modern with its contents. I left the same font on the all the sub-stories so as to show so
as to create a brand image while also keeping the cover mature and clean. I am not a big fan of
visually busy cover, as they can tend to looks messy and childish.
● However, this is only a draft and II still need to add a few more details to the cover such as the
barcode, issue number and date. This is also not the model that I will use for the original cover,
for that cover I will plan photoshoot and create a similar picture. These details will altogether
improve my final cover and make it look more professional and realistic.
5. Content Sample For The Content Page
The Content Page will include:
● Two images
● Three columns which will include information on the pages of all the
articles included in the magazine, these will be:
○ Backstage of Milan Fashion Week 3-5
○ Bella Hadid: My Big Break 6-7
○ Up and Coming Fashionista: Zeldi 8-9
○ Has Instagram Ruined Personal Style 10-11
○ The Risk of Fast Fashion 12-13
○ Bag It Or Not 14-15
6. Idea Draft “SWAY” Content Page Design
I put the masthead on the top of
the content page so that the
reader memorizes the name of
the magazine.
To establish brand image, I have
kept the content page colour
scheme more monochromatic,
like this the font and colours can
stay the same while the images
can change depending on the
month’s theme
The images are placed to
complementary to the text, so
that when the reader finds a
image that they are interested in
the can be able to deduce which
sub-story it relates to.
I have varied the font of the sub-
story titles and the sub-story
subtitle so that there can be
diversity between the two and to
clearly outline which is which.
7. Deconstruction Of Content Page
● The content page is designed in a clean, monochromatic way, which in turn matches to the
cover. The page is separated by three this columns which contain information on the content
of the magazine. I made sure to slightly switch the font between the titles of the articles and
the subtitles so as to help the reader differentiate them without bothering the reader’s eye. I
added a few pictures which coincide with the titles of the titles of the articles.
● There still are some details which I wish to change, such as the pictures, which I will replace
with originals images taken by me. I would also like to change the size of the font so as to be
able to fit more images and fit the numbers fo the pages better. I might also make the page
just a little more colourful, in the sense if the pictures used. However, I will still be keeping the
same colour scheme throughout the magazine.
8. Idea Draft - “SWAY” Double Page Spread Design
For this double page spread I will include my interview with Zeldi:
Zeldi has recently one of the most talked about and most followed fashionistas. She has a 200,000
following average on instagram and twitter, with a staggering 300,000 reader count on majority of her
blog… and all of this in a year. I was lucky enough to have her here in Belgrade to answer some of mine
and her followers most recurring questions.
Since all stars have a beginning, I was curious to know how this one started. When I asked about her
upbringing Zeldi had this to say: “ I had a pretty average life growing up. I wasn’t a big fan of attention, nor
am I to this day, I had my small group of friends and mainly kept to myself. This is actually how I got into
fashion. I loved spending time playing around with my mom’s clothes and I always had so many questions
that remained unanswered about the rules of fashion. Since I also loved spending time online I began
researching about various designers, trends, models and fashion icons.” Zeldi later mention how her style
influences began with Holly Golightly, Diane Von Furstenberg and Annie Hall. No she has combined them
with her love for Jeremy Scott, Virgil Abloh and Karl Lagerfeld.
9. Idea Draft - “SWAY” Double Page Spread Design
Many fans were shocked with the quick growth in her career, and where she might be headed next. When
I asked her about any advice for aspiring fashionistas out there she chuckled at first saying that she never
thought that she’d be the one giving the advice. “ I honestly never thought that I’d have this big of an
influence. But I would like to remind people that my career so far hasn’t been all that easy. It may seem
lavish and almost narcissistic from the outside but trust me when I say that I have never worked so hard
in my life. So my main advice would be to persist in whatever you do. And also to learn how take criticism
and accept change. As the fashion industry is ever changing and based a lot on personal preference.” Zeldi
also told us her favorite products which have never failed her, such as a good tote bag and a trusty
lipgloss.
I wasn’t able to get Zeldi to expose much of her future plans but she did respond suspiciously when asked
about the rumours of a possible collaboration with a clothing brand on a new collection, “there really isn’t
much I can say right now”, she stated. Whether the rumours are true or not it’s is very clear that this
fashionista isn't going away anytime soon. I, for one, am very excited to see what she will come up with
next. Keep an eye out because Zeldi is definitely going places.
10. Content Sample Of The “SWAY” Article
I have split up the
interview into
different chunks
of text and placed
them in different
areas. This allows
me to decorate
each area
according to the
contents of the
paragraph. This
allows the
readers o see
each aspect of
Zeldi's career
while also visually
pleasing
For the original
images I will go
out with Zeldi
and have a
photoshoot, so
that the images
used in the
article are
original and
valid. I will also
take pictures of
the accessories
which will
match the text
The font of the
texts will be
kept to the
magazine’s
standard font,
so as to create a
brand image.
11. Deconstruction Of The Double Spread Page
● The layout of the double page spread is spread out in an organised way so as to help the
reader to visualise Zeldi’s life in fashion while also being able to easily find the information that
they are looking for. The text will be put in light gray boxes so that it stands out against the
images while also following the magazine’s colour scheme. This has been a great topic to
pursue as the article was realistic. I was able to personally interview Zeldi and arrange a
photoshoot with her for the magazine.
● There are a few more aspects I need to change so as to make the double page spread
complete, such as adding original photos and the text from the official interview with Zeldi.
This, in turn, may slightly change the layout of the spread.
