2. Synopsis
This comedic short film follows Pricilla as she dramatically complains to her friend
Julia about her problematic daughter, specifically about her sexual orientation. The
extreme character stereotypes of Priscilla being a liberal, over dramatic artist and
Julia being a cynical realist leads to a comedic contrast between the two. The
punchline will be that Priscilla was referring to her dog this whole time. This will be
revealed at the end when Priscilla announces that Opal is coming.
3. Original Script
The first draft of the script helped us develop an
initial storyline and flow of conversation.
4. Script Evaluation
We read through
the initial script and
asked the actresses
to act it out, this
helped us observe
the characters
come to life and
notice any changes
that would be
necessary.
5. Script Evaluation
The main aspect of the script that bothered us
was the formality of the script. We wanted to
make the script more relaxed in our next draft
making the characters seem more natural and
friendly.
We worked with the actresses and acted it out
with them and asked them to improvise some
lines so as to see what came naturally within
their conversation. With this we were able to
have a better idea of the relationship we wanted
to simulate between the characters and how we
wanted their conversation to develop.
6. Storyboard
This first draft of the storyboard helped us get a rough visual
of what our film would look like according to the first draft of
our script.
7. Second Draft
In the second draft of
the script we focused
on the tone of the
conversation
between Priscilla and
Julia. We made sure
to make the
conversation more
realistic and even
incorporated some
nicknames to make
them seen closer.
8. Second Draft
Within the second draft we also incorporated mre
comedic elements so as to clearly portray our genre
and present the more serious topic that we address.
When we asked our actresses to act out the script it
felt more realistic and on brand for the characters.
9. Storyboard
In the second draft of our soryboard we focused on the details
of the drawing to better portray the film. We also made sure
to add more diverse shots to better bring the story to life
11. Final Draft
Within the final draft of the script we corrected
and grammatical mistakes along with any plot
holes. Furthermore we also described the
characters movements and feelings so that the
actors would find it easier to portray the
characters.
12. Storyboard Corrections
To better improve our storyboard we changed and added a few scenes:
Scene 6 has been
changed from a
Middle Close Up
to a Close Up shot
Scene 7 has been
changed from a Over
the Shoulder Shot to
a Close Up Shot
We changed shots 15
to 18 to better
portray the
characters’
conversation and
reactions.
