Working Title: Fruit Shooter
*will be changed*
Audience:
The audience for my game will be primarily more female due to women making up a bigger
percentage of mobile gamers, the type of game as well as it’s cuter, more bubbly appearance. The
game is target at teenagers however the style of Match3 games also strongly attracts the female
adults aged 25 to 44. There isn’t a specific sexuality that the game appeals to so it can be enjoyed
by everyone. Although for the majority all level of Social Grades can be expected to be found as a
player of this game, it would be more likely to find users in the C1,C2,D grades. If any
psychographic can be placed on the audience of this type of game it would be Needs Driven,
acting on impulse and instinct as they ae easily addicted to continuous interaction with the game.
The gratifications of this product are purely entertainment.
Rationale
Throughout the year so far I’ve picked up new skills in Photoshop such as working with animation
and ensuring that it looks smooth as well as creating better quality images. My research skills have
improved and I’m able to come up with more in-depth ideas for my projects with the knowledge of
how to correctly execute them.
A lot of the things learnt during the Advergame process are going to have an impact in this project
as that was my first time animating in Photoshop. From the work I did then I know I’m going to be
able to capture movement correctly in my finished product which is a key element in creating a
good looking game.
Project Concept
The project concept involves a traditional match3 bubble shooter game, where the player will have
to aim and shoot at a cluster of different types of fruits, hoping to match the ones that they hit so
that they burst and fall towards the bottom of the screen , with the aim of clearing the top of the
screen in the limited number of moves whilst trying to gain as many points as possible to get all
three stars for each level, with the help of two power ups that the player can earn during the level if
they get stuck. The theme for the game is going to be set in an orchard that will be visible in the
background of each level, the game pieces that the player has to shoot down will be different
coloured fruits such as oranges, lemons and grapes. I want to be able to have an accurate scoring
system on screen, that will include keeping score up to date and ensuring that the points add up
with an appropriate response time. In my animation, I want to include the player opening the
options menu on screen and turning the game volume and sound on, at which point both audios
will begin.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
Once my production has begun I plan on keeping an up to date diary of everything I’ve done each
day so that my progression can be seen and the development of my work is clear. I need to be
aware of all the choices I’m making during production as they will all have an effect on the final
product and how they will affect things like target audience.
