P TYPE PUMP
• P-type pump also known as SERCA (Serco/endoplasmic reticulum
Ca+2ATPases).
• They are named so because the reaction mechanism proceeds by
phosphorylated protein intermediate.
Facts
• The most common example for P-
type pump are Ca+2 ,Na+/ K+
• They use 25% of the total energy
produced by the body.
• The main features of this pump is
that it transports ion species in both
the direction.
• It maintains osmotic potential,
membrane resting potential and
many more.
• Regulates and maintain this function
by establishing electro chemical
gradient .
