2. In order to see how successful our music video sequence was, as well as my
ancillary products conducting audience feedback was vital.
It gave me a clearer idea of what potential viewers of our music video, digipak
and magazine advert would think of them and how I could improve on them next
time if i were to do the process again
Constructive criticism is also beneficial as it shows what i done well!
IMPORTANCE OF AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
3. WHAT OUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK SAID ABOUT OUR MUSIC VIDEO AND
OUR REFLECTION ON IT
o There was a comment saying how the quality of the music
video was low compared to what they thought it would
be
WHAT OUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK SAID
o The low quality was due to the equipment we used, s the
cameras didn't’t offer the quality of professional music
videos that our audience may be used to
HOW I RESPONDED TO THIS FEEDBACK
o Another audience member said after watching our music
video that they felt as if the other band members of
‘WAIMEA’ should have been stared in the video
o This however wouldn't’t have flown with the narrative we
wanted to portray, as there would have been too many
people on screen. Plus we would have found It hard to find
enough people to perform for us
o After a discussion with one of my audience members they said
how they thought the beginning of our sequence with the
name of the band at the start was very conventional and
worked well
o This part of the video sequence was done in the post
production part of our work, as we had to use
Photoshop in order to create the text with the unique
font/colour scheme
4. PEER/AUDIENCE
ASSESSMENT
Both of these screenshots show some
further audience feedback that I gathered
on my music video.
Overall it is evident that there are several
weak areas and strong areas of our video,
this is good as it shows what we done well,
but also what we need to improve on
The screenshot on the right shows that the
person who filled it out said that it could
have been filmed on a sunnier day. I agree
with this piece of feedback, but as we
filmed it in December it was difficult to get
a sunny day
The screenshot on the left complimented
us on our editing of the sequence,
especially the part where the edits are cut
very closely to match the speed of the
lyrics/cut to the beat
5. DIGIPAK FEEDBACK
Feedback from my digipak varied, but overall I was
happy with the comments left. here are some of
the comments that people gave me on my
digipak…
• Great use of consistant colour scheme
• Back of the digipak could have some further
designon it
• Bright and eye catching
• Unique ideas, i like the lettering of ‘HEAT WAVE’
and ‘WAIMEA’
• Top left photois a bit confusing
• Good quality location shots
• The CD is a little blank, however i like its simple
design
6. MAGAZINE ADVERT FEEDBACK
Once again, overall comments were positive as they liked the
visuals of my advert, although there were still several
weaknesses…
• Good consistancy from digipak to magazine advert (photo
of the artist) and colour scheme
• The reviews are maybe a little small to read
• I like the heat ave going through the artists face, its
conventional and different, possibly attracting to a niche
audience
• Lots of blank space
• Basic colour scheme
• Good use of links of places to purchase, Apple and Amazon
7. After going through all of my audience feedback it is clear that my audience are happy with most of my music videos
aspects, as well as the digipak and magazine advert design. This shows that my creation was a success, although there
were still several aspects that do with improvement, my video wouldn't’t have appealed to everyone I asked, therefore
you cant always guarantee positive feedback.
The negative feedback I have taken on board and now I know how to improve these pieces of work if I were to do them
again, from the audience feedback I received. However, the majority of my feedback was positive, therefore I would like
to thank all of the people who participated in filling out surveys I had and watching my video to give me feedback.
My group and I tried to incorporate as many relevant shots, angles and creative edits as possible throughout our music
video with the equipment that we had. Also, when designing my digipak and magazine advert I had to use software that
I had had no experience with before, therefore I had to teach myself how to use it, bearing this in mind I believe the final
designs I created were of a high standard, as they included all of the relevant, conventional information for audiences to
see.
