What have you learned from your audience feedback
1. What have you learned from
your audience feedback?
By Ali Hamade and Gemma Imbriano
2. First cut questions and answers (summary)
• We chose three random peers to be our target audience throughout the making of this
project to give us feedback and we asked them a few questions after they watched the
first draft.
• What did you think of the different colours of lighting? We think it was really effective as
they are bright and it matches with the upbeat tempo of the song,
• Do you think putting make up on the star was effective? We think that the make up
breaks the stereotypes for a black male in a music video as it is unique and we wasn’t
expecting it.
• What could be an overall improvement? An over all improvement could be when the
series of montage images early on each picture changed to each beat drop.
• What did you think about the narrative? We though the narrative was very clear and also
it can be seen from a different prospective almost like tripping out on drugs.
• Overall we would happily watch that again as the uniqueness of the video has built in
repeatability and because it is so busy and interactive we would re watch it to see if we
was missing any small prints.
3. The survey responses we got for the rough cut!
• Using survey monkey we decided to create a few more questions and decided to
share them alongside the first draft of our video to a few more target audience
just to see how they felt about the project so far and these are the results.
8. Survey analysis
• From the survey that we carried out this was to get feedback to make the final
product the best it can so therefore using survey monkey it helped me look at the
data in which I am going to analyse.
• The first question I asked was if they thought my video had a clear narrative
which this would give me a starting point to see if my video needed immediate
attention but where as 9 out of 10 participants said yes therefore this was clear
and I was able to move on without having to make a big change.
• The second question was if the visual style has been established in which there
was 100% positive feedback therefore this was a success.
• For the third question in the survey was to see if the lip sync was done well in
which all 10 participants said yes therefore this did not need altering.
9. Survey analysis!
• The fourth question was to see how good the editing looked to which standard,
furthermore the answers were 50% to a professional standard and the other 50%
was high quality therefore this was reassuring that the editing it self did not need
technical changes.
• The fifth question was to find out how good the target audience thought the
overall quality of the music video which 82.5% replied professional 12.5% said
high quality and only 5% said good quality therefore this was an overall success
and the camera that was used which was a Nikon 5500 with an extended lens was
effective and I would use this again.
• The sixth question was to find out the improvements they would like to see on
our video in which we received no big improvements but there was a few such as
the beginning was to bright which is an easy fix and was done immediately, and
the other comment was that there was too many things over crowding the
bathroom therefore we will take it into consideration to remove a couple of
things for final improvements.
10. Survey analysis!
• The final question was to see how well the star acted in our music
video and everyone voted 4 and 3 out of 10 voted 5 being excellent
acting therefore this showed that for someone that has not used
drama elements before has high capability and has rounder our video
to being very successful but also realism in this video which allowed
the target audience to see the naturalistic elements that we tried to
portray.
• Overall from the survey analysis we can now confirm that there isn’t
much changes to be made and that after our final production of the
video is made we should have a very high standard piece of work.
11. First feedback after rough cut!
Likes Dislikes
I like the invisible transitions in this The montage is too fast
I like the way the star has been styled with make up its
unique
The narrative is not very clear
Good lip sync Not enough locations
I liked the repeatability element I could watch this
again
Lyrics not very clear
12. Second feedback after rough cut!

Likes Dislikes
The blur at the beginning of the star The montage could fit the beat a little bit better
The lighting used you can see the star very clear The lip sync looks a bit slower than the actual audio
Fits the genre very well easy to watch and be
entertained
Not a wide enough shot variety
The editing is really good especially the montage Get the point across a bit more
13. Third feedback after rough cut!
Likes Dislikes
Good extreme close-ups Some shots not clear (laying in bath with clothes )
Good use of continuity editing Don’t understand the make up used
Good introduction and ending same way Don’t get why the blur was faded back into the face of
the star
Nice show of representation Limited location choices
14. Changes after feedback from target audience
and survey!
• After receiving this constructive criticism we have decided to make a
few amendments to our video for the final production to make it to
the best of its ability.
• We edited the title to make it clearer to the target audience on what
they are watching, we then cleaned up all of the shots to make the
editing and transitions invisible for better quality and to make it look
more professional, and the overlaid clips where also amended but
finally the montage of the shots where corrected to match the beat of
the song and slowed down slightly to enable the target audience to
have longer time viewing these and the lip sync to be match perfectly.
15. Was this project a success?
• Overall I think from the feedback that received from the surveys and
the verbal feedback I came to a conclusion of the video being a
success from all the positivity. By asking the audience these specific
questions it has helped me create a brilliant final piece to suit the
target audience. There is a clear use of built in repeatability in our
video as everyone stated they could watch it again. This has overall
had a positive effect on my work and this has become a very well
developed piece that is produced to a high standard.
