Bauer Media would be the best institution to distribute the music magazine. While IPC Media publishes several music magazines internationally, their main target audiences are mass market and upmarket women. In contrast, Bauer Media produces magazines like Kerrang and Q that target teens and young adult males, aligning better with the intended audience of the music magazine. Bauer also has a wide range of genres across ages and interests, allowing them to more effectively distribute the magazine to maximize revenue.

I believe my music magazine should be distributed
by popular media institutions who specifically
publish well known everyday magazines as well as
music magazines. Media institutions such as Bauer
or IPC media would both ensure that my magazine
would be publicised to be seen as high quality as
both institutions have a good reputation within the
publishing industry.
3. IPC media has produced over 60
iconic media brands, two thirds
of UK women and 42% of UK
men (almost 26 million UK
adults) use/buy print media
produced by them. They have a
wide range of brands varying
from wealth and leisure brands to
lifestyle such as country life,
horse& hound and Rugby world
to Nuts, mousebreaker and NME
mainly aimed at males to fashion
and real life editorial such as
what’s on TV, MarieClaire, instyle
and woman&home mainly aimed
at women.
4. There main target audiences for there brands are
mass market women, upmarket women and men.
They internationally publish music magazines they
own such as NME, guitar and bass. This shows that
IPC media also distributes an impressive range of
magazines within and outside of the UK, though they
distribute NME, their main target audience are
women, and this could make the distribution of my
magazine less successful as the target audience for
my magazine are teens to young adult males whereas
the institution focuses on mainly women.

Bauer also produces Bella (unseen
real life editorial with an element of
fashion, beauty, cookery and
practical home features), take a
break and that’s life! (Real life
editorial) and TV choice and total
TVGuide (TV listing). Bauer’s target
audience is all ages and all interests
as well as having cross media
convergence to maximise revenue
because the institution has a wide
range of genres it makes it more
likely for them to distribute my
magazine than IPC media.
