The Positive Effects Of Democracy s Effect On Economic Growth
Democratic countries have shown that they do better in economic growth. Yet, political competition
does fosters economic growth. Public welfare is boosted when leaders chose to depend on a larger
coalition to keep them in office. Indeed, economic growth depends on good economic policies,
however, good economic policies are not always in the best interests of political leaders. It is well
known historically that the major observation is that democracy has no negative effect of GDP growth
nor overall effect but, democracy might have some indirect positive effects which can be seen through
greater stability or more extensive property rights.
Democracy is defined as that institutional arrangement for arriving at political decisions in which
individuals acquire the power to decide by means of a competitive struggle for the people s vote . the
relationship to economic growth is what matters it is stronger when democracy is measured as an
increasing concept, not a constant. Nevertheless, both the duration and the level of democracy
experience matter when we look at the effect of democracy on economic growth. Lastly, long term
democracy which leads to stronger economic performance. Many articles believe that if democracy is
maintained over time, influences economic performance in four main channels, which are physical,
human, social and political, each one can be conceptualized as a variety of capital Bueno De Mesquita
(2001) suggested.

Argumentative Essay On Homelessness In Australia
The issue of homelessness in regard to shelter in Australia has been prevalent for an extended period
of time in the 21st century. Homelessness is the situation in which individuals are unable to attain a
permanent and adequate quality of shelter. Shelter is a human right as stated under article 25 of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which specifies Housing as part of the standard of living
required for an individual to maintain their wellbeing. Australia s law specifies no legal right to
shelter, however as a party of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
(ICESCR), the Australian government must recognise that all individuals should be entitled to an
adequate standard of living for themself and their family , where one criteria is adequate housing as
stated in article 11. It is imperative that in order to fulfil both Australia s obligation to uphold human
rights and maintain social cohesion within society both legal and non legal responses are effective in
dealing with both the causes and effects of homelessness.
Homelessness is an issue which stems from a large range of external factors which by themselves are
difficult to address. One such contemporary factor in NSW regarding homelessness is the affordability
of adequate shelter with the Sydney Morning Herald reporting the median price in Sydney to be $1.15
million. This has made it harder for individuals to afford homes which are adequate as per the
requirements of article 11

Golden Girl Organization
The Golden Girl Organization is an amazing organization that helps young girls interact with others
and grow as one, reminiscing through these past years I realized that it has taught me that it isn t all
about the dancing if not the unforgettable lessons in life that it teaches. This has meant a lot to me in
many ways, it helped me build character and a self esteem, how to interact and communicate with
others, as well as helping get involved in school. Golden Girls helped me build character and an
improved self esteem because of the environment created allowed me to grow out of my shell. The
girls that surrounded me only motivated me into becoming a better person instead of giving up. The

Textual Analysis Of Hamlet
Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most popular plays to date. It follows the tragic story of the young
prince of Denmark and his quest for revenge. Although it is a great play, it is much too out dated for
the modern generation to be interested in it and to see the greatness of it. The solution for this would
be to create a film that not only exhibits the central themes but also attracts the contemporary teenage
audience. To effectively gain their attention, the setting, characters and language would need to be
modified.
First of all, the setting of Hamlet takes place in Elizabethan times; however, the current teenage
audience would not find that setting relatable or interesting. The setting needs to fit with the audience
they are targeting and if it is a modern day audience then the setting should reflect that. Furthermore,
buildings such as castles are no longer common and the teenage audience would be able to connect
more with high schools or colleges more since it very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Times change and so do the words that people use so it will be hard for a modern day society to
understand the passages full of metaphors and allusions relating to Elizabethan times. Additionally,
watchers may find the film boring or complex if they do not understand what each character is saying.
Conversation is a key aspect in grasping the nature of certain characters and this cannot be done if the
watcher does not comprehend it. Additionally, allusions are abundant in Hamlet, but these allusions
are now centuries too old. Allusions need to be understood by the audience for the most impact but the
ones in Hamlet will not work. For example, It out herods Herod (3.2.14) Herod was known to be a
tyrant but that is not common knowledge for someone in this day and age. Language is a major part in
Hamlet to progress the story and characters but if the audience does not comprehend it, it is more or

Life and Poems of Kadarius Brown
A young poet who tried to make a living .John Keats lived a roughly life as a child. He was a man who
expressed his life in his poetry. Keats experienced bad life situations, great expectations, and
depression.
On October 31, 1795 an English Romantic lyric was brought forth in this world. He was born in
London, England. Keats was the oldest of four children. His mother was Frances Keats. His father was
Thomas Keats. Keats lost his parents at age eight. Keats father, whom was a stable keeper, was killed
after being trampled by horse. Keats father death left a major impact on him. He then begins to
understanding for society that it s both a suffering and a loss, Keats father s dearth greatly disrupted
the family s financial security. His mother seemed to be so depressed and managed to make misstep
and mistakes after her husband s death. She then quickly remarried and just as quickly lost a good
amount of their family s worth. Frances second marriage failed so she left her family and children
behind in the care of her mother. She lately returned to her children in life but her life was in tatters. In
1810 she died of tuberculosis After his parents death, Keats found solace and comfort in art and
literature . Shortly before his father s death he was attending Enfield Academy, where he proves to be
a voracious reader. He became close to the schools headmaster, John Clarke, who served as a sort of a
father figure to the orphaned student and he encouraged Keats on his interest

Why Students Should Be A University Essay
Transferring to a four year college or university can be challenging depending on some factors, but it
is not an impossible task. Two year colleges like NOVA are working closely with four year
universities to ensure this transition is smooth and easy. Four year institutions and universities have
also recognized what a transfer student can bring to their schools. Most students attend community
college with a plan of transferring to a four year university. Community Colleges have great
opportunities for their students, with high resources, affordable expenses and small classrooms
students have many reasons for choosing community colleges as a freshman. Nonetheless, an
Associate Degree is designed to be a transition rather than an end goal. According to a study done by
Community College Research Center (CCRC), While 81 percent of entering community college
students indicate they want to earn a bachelor s degree or higher, only 33 percent of entering students
actually transfer to a four year institution within six years (CCRC,2016). There are many factors why
students should consider transferring to a university to at least earn a bachelor s Degree. The main
point being, four year university helps students continue a path of academic and career success. As a
student moves out of the two years community college experience, the academic opportunities become
broader.
Moreover, academic facilities at four year universities offer great resources. University advisors and
counselors

A Real Estate Professional Essay
A real estate professional has a vast variety of jobs and duties. The foundation behind a realtorsrealtor
s profession includes havings an extensive knowledge ofin the buying and selling processes for
multiple different types of properties and as well as knowingunderstanding the state and federal laws
that could have an effect on a sale. Deeper into the profession you ll find working with other people,
and all the personality types that come with them, day in and day out is a very challenging task. Every
client will have a different need and different questions along with them. A real estate agent must find
ways to meet those needs as well as answer any questions. This requires a real estate agent to take
their knowledge as far as possible so they are ready for absolutely anything that can be thrown their
way. An agent must know the community, any planned changes the community may be making in the
future, or information on surrounding schools and job opportunities. When selling a house for
example, a potential buyer could ask about the type of grass growing in the backyard or the type of
wood flooring in the living room. Every day a real estate professional faces different questions, buyers
and sellers, property types, and changing laws or requirements. Due to these reasons a realtor has a
very versatile profession.
A realtor is any agent who is a member of the National Association of Realtors (Agent). This

For starters let s begin with a criminal court which is a court that has jurisdiction to try and punish
offenders against the law. The Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure are criminal proceedings in U.S.
district courts, the courts of appeals, and the Supreme Court. Their purpose is to provide a simple and
fair court proceeding. The original rules were observed by the Supreme Court in 1944, and then later
on in 1954 congress took over the rules of criminal procedures and it has been edited multiple times
most recently in 2014. However, a civil court is another type of civil process and it is very different
from criminal court.
A Civil court is as the name implies a court system based on disputes between average citizens which
are far different from a criminal court where you are dealing with convicts. Just like a criminal court, a
civil court also has a set of procedures listed by the judicial system in 1937 with over 86 different
rules. Civil cases usually involve disputes between people or organizations. The court case Fenton v.

lawsuit against the plaintiff, which is the person who filed the lawsuit, and it later made its way from
federal court to state court ( Civil Rights federal court jurisdiction ). Both Civil and Criminal court

The last risk would be financial issues due to insurance issues. Of 10 million Americans nearly 7
million of them being over 65 rely on some level of assisted care (Weston 2012). This number does
not include the number of people that are under the age of 65. Many people that rely on long term care
live on disability or social security. These people are living on extremely limited income put them and
their families in mental distress trying to figure out how to pay for the needed care. Medicare provides
only 100 days of care following hospitalization (Weston 2012). After the 100 days it then becomes the
responsibility of the patient to either pay out of their pocket or use a supplemental insurance. For
many this is an issue as they do not have any other insurance nor do they have the finances to afford
this care on their own. With patients under Medicaid insurance there is still an issue Medicaid
provides long term care, but only after a patient has deplete his/her finances (Weston 2012). So how
does this affect the organization itself, now with lack of insurance you run the risk of not being paid
for services already rendered. The other risk involved is that if a patient is unable to pay for the care
themselves then they have to resort to other means of care, now the organization has empty beds.
Empty beds mean that there is not a high need for staff members resulting in layoffs. All of these risks

with the four years required to achieve a bachelor s degree (How to Become a Pediatric Doctor:
Education and Career Roadmap.). To even begin one s journey into pediatrics however, one must pass
the MCAT, a nightmarish medical school entrance examination assessment, and after multiple years of
training, an anxiety inducing final examination. Another crucial factor in becoming a pediatrician is
the huge cost of tuition, as the combined cost adds up to 300,000 to 500,000 thousand (Becoming a

The Montessori Method Of Education By Observing Behaviors
Dr. Maria Montessori developed the Montessori Method of education by observing behaviors in
young children which formed the foundation of her educational method. Montessori method is a child
centered educational approach based on scientific clarifications of children from birth to adulthood.
Dr. Montessori s Method has been time tested, with over 100 years of success in diverse cultures
throughout the world. It is a view of the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable
of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach
that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child physical, social, emotional and
mental.

Intelligence And Ignorance By Mein Kampf

Literature is interpreted many ways, similar to the people who read the bible and say that it s about
loving your family as well as other people say it s about accepting Jesus into thy heart. Literature can
make someone kinder, but, it may also make some people much more mean. Mein Kampf, a book

With today s technology, We are able to listen to books being read to us while we are; Doing
homework, doing laundry, exercising, or even just relaxing on a hammock. Technology is helping us
further advance our reading skills and can keep us on the edge of our seat when suspense hits. I have
read some books where I am unable to read for some time, and all I could think about is what could
happen, what would happen if it happened and how the characters live would be affected if it does
happen. Reading at a young age can help stimulate a child s mind and help the develop the way that
they think and how fast they can solve a problem. Reading is the future and can help lead us to a
brighter tomorrow. In the article, Reading Literature Makes Us Smarter and Nicer, Annie Murphy Paul

Alcohol Case Study
Alcohol is an integral aspect of Australian culture, accounting for $14.1 billion of expenditure every
year (Australian Securities Investments Commission, 2017). By far the most popular type of alcohol
in Australia is bottled wine, which makes up 34% of alcohol consumed by Australians, and of this
approximately 50% is white wine (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2015). With white wine making up
such a major part of everyday life for so many Australians, it is important for manufacturers to ensure
the quality of the wine they produce. One way this is achieved is through addition of sulphur dioxide
or SO2 (refer to figure 1).
SO2 exists in wine in two forms: free and bound. Free SO2 exists in the wine unbound to other
compounds and is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oxidation in wine is caused by the reaction of dissolved oxygen in the wine with compounds within
the wine, including polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and ethanol (Smith, Monteath, Gould, Smith, 2010).
This is a type of redox reaction, which is a reaction characterised by a transfer of electrons
(LibreTexts, 2014). Redox reactions consist of an oxidation half reaction, in which electrons are
gained, and a reduction half reaction, in which electrons are lost, taking place simultaneously in an
overall redox reaction. To directly prevent these reactions, SO3 in the wine reacts directly with the
oxygen in the wine according to the equation:
SO3 (aq) + O2(aq) + H2O(l)  H2SO4(aq)
However as SO3 exists in the wine only in very small concentrations, a majority of the antioxidant
actions occurs from molecular SO2 reacting with the wine compounds themselves. Firstly, molecular
SO2 reverses the oxidation of colourless diphenol to brown o quinones by binding to and inhibiting
PPO, which catalyses the oxidation (refer to figure 3) (Martin, 2011). Molecular SO2 also prevents the
oxidation of ethanol by hydrogen peroxide (produced by the oxidation of hydroxyl phenols) into
acetaldehyde (Rotter, 2002) which occurs in the

Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez, a well known painter during the 17th century, was born in
Seville in 1599 (Brown 1). He was the eldest of the seven children, and the son of Silva and Jerónima
Velazquez (Brown 1). Both of his parents claimed to be descendants of lesser nobility, a claim that
Velázquez will later benefit from (Brown 1). During his time, painting was considered a craft, which is
work done with hands rather than the mind, meaning it was unworthy of a nobleman (Carr 26).
Velázquez was sent to Franciso Pacheco, a well known painter in Seville, as an apprentice (Carr 26).

Analysis Of Franchise And Pardon By Nast
Franchise or Pardon
During the Reconstruction period, beginning in 1865, the United States entered a period in which they
mended relationships between the North and the South. It was also a period of hostility between both
sides. The war had ended and the Southerners had suffered plenty of damage to their land. The
Reconstruction period was a time which the South was rebuilt with the integration of all the newly
freed blacks into society. This particular collection I chose by Thomas Nast called Franchise. But not

Radical Republicans offered amendments for the Constitution to the House of Representatives. The

supported by the title of this piece, Franchise. But not this man? Columbia is depicted as the
representation of the freed blacks, asking about their rights as citizens. In this depiction of Columbia

comes with this cartoon. In the accompanying cartoon, Pardon by Nast, Columbia is depicted sitting
with one arm crossed, next to the hilt of her sword, and her other hand is propped against her cheek
and face, which holds a more than annoyed expression on her face. In Pardon Columbia faces a
kneeling mass of ex confederate men asking for pardon, that party is led by Robert E. Lee. Columbia s
sword is pointed towards the man as a symbol of distrust from the nation towards ex confederate
generals. From this depiction it can be inferred that the people believed they could not trust those that
left the United States. By placing these two cartoons adjacent to each other one could infer that Nast
and some portion of those viewing this newspaper thought that freed slaves should be able to vote and
those in the ex confederacy have their rights to vote revoked. Many Radical Republicans, including
Thaddeus Stevens, encouraged Congress to protect not only the voting rights of blacks but also the
protection of the black economics, political and social rights (Harrold

Critical Pedagogy Analysis
In The Art of Critical Pedagogy, Jeffrey Duncan Andrade and Ernest Morrell provide vivid examples
on how critical pedagogy is beneficial for academic success amongst individuals of color. Critical
pedagogy is a multicultural form of teaching that is rooted in the essential experiences of marginalized
peoples; that is centered in a critique of structural, economic, and racial oppression; that is focused on
dialogue instead of a one way transmission of knowledge; and that is structured to empower
individuals and collectives as agents of social change . (Duncan Andrade and Morrell, 2008, p. 49)

Morrison s book, The Bluest Eye, I often found myself more intrigued in learning similar academic
pieces, as the characters often displayed cultural characteristic that were nearly identical to my

culturally relevant courses often endure a vast improvement of their intellectual performance. As a
result, many began to take Advanced Placement courses and were able to matriculate to four year
universities (Duncan Andrade and Morrell, 2008). Not only does critical pedagogy allow for a deeper
understanding of the curriculum, it also provides critical thinking skills and intellectual resources that

Should The Bush Administration Justified In Iraq
The 2003 Invasion of Iraq not only signalled the beginning of the Iraq War, but also demonstrated the
power and unchallenged military dominance of the United States. Unlike the first Gulf War, many of
the US public, media and officials criticized the Bush Administration s decision to invade Iraq by
questioning the legality and the evidence used to justify the war. These arguments as to whether the
Bush Administration was justified in its use of hard power to invade Iraq are diverse and disputed
among many historians. The opinions of several historians including Pollack, Mearsheimer and

Almost all the US public, media and government officials at the time held a common belief that Iraq
owned WMD. Kenneth Pollack (2004), PhD, a former CIA intelligence analyst and expert on Middle
East politics and military affairs, mentions the common belief that Saddam owned WMD when he
says that the American public and much of the rest of the world believed that after Saddam Hussein s
regime sank, a vast flotsam of weapons of mass destruction would bob to the surface (p.78). The US
government s common agreement that Hussein was holding WMD was significantly a result of high
priority intelligence reports such as the 2002 US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) which claimed
to have held a 90% level of confidence that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction (Siilberman,
2015). The importance of these NIE reports is further supported by Kevin Whitelaw (2004), a
prominent American reporter for US News and World Report, when he says that due to the reports
substantial conclusiveness, the most pivotal document was the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq s
weapons (p.24). Although, the belief that Saddam possessed WMD was not only held by the US
government analysts but also by many officials from the United Nations (UN). According to Pollack
nearly twenty former inspectors from the United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) did not
doubt that Iraq was operating a secret centrifugal plant (Pollack, 2004, p.82). Clearly, there was a

What Is The Thesis Of Thomas Paine The Crisis No 1
Originally from Britain, Thomas Paine sailed to the now known United States and soon became a
journalist in favor for the colonial revolution. He wrote The Crisis No. 1 where with his use of
aphorisms and emotional appeals inspired the colonial soldiers to fight for their freedom. Thomas
Paine s writing was read to General Washington s troops before crossing the Delaware River to
motivate them and bolster both the citizens and soldiers morale.
First, It matter not where you live, or what rank of life you hold, the evil or the blessing will reach you
all. With this sentence Paine is informing the audience that what he is about to announce isn t only for
the rich, isn t only for the poor, or the middle class, but it is for the society as ... Show more content on

The message that he wants to use to persuade the audience is that they won t be fighting this war for
wealth or social status; instead they will be fighting so that the wealthy and the poor no longer have to
be under the rule of Great Britain.
Paine also associates the battle to being a good parent. He claims that when the war is fought and the
heart that feels not now is dead then their children will then curse their fathers by feeling shame that
their fathers were too much of a coward to fight for themselves and most importantly their children.
He aims at putting pressure to the soldiers saying that their children would most be ashamed that their
father has [shrunk] back at a time when a little might have saved the whole and made them happy,
causing the audience to feel guilt if they do not proceed into the battle with all their force.
In conclusion, Thomas Paine uses aphorisms, emotional appeals, and guilt to persuade the soldiers to
go into battle and give it their best because they will be fighting for the country. The soldiers can also
conclude that Thomas Paine thinks that if they do not fight this battle then it will be a great shame
upon him that even his children will dishonor

Overseas Listing Of Mainland Chinese Companies
Young Le ENGL 100: Writing about America and Globalization Prof. Elizabeth McKinsey November
18, 2014 From Sick Men to Strong Lions: Overseas Listing of Mainland Chinese Companies 1.
Introduction As Mainland Chinese companies develop, innovate, and grow, China has become one of
the superpowers in the world. Traditional state owned businesses introduced private capital to break
up state monopolies and became joint ventures to solve the potential management issues. In this way,
Chinese companies were transformed from sick men , as westerners once described them, to strong
lions , reflecting westerners updated impression of China. Simultaneously, emerging companies
entered the domestic market quickly due to their pre eminent technology and unparalleled innovation.
However, currently, all Chinese companies face one huge problem lack of capital. Thanks to the
advancement of the worldwide financial market, especially that of stock exchanges, Chinese leading
firms have the chance to propose IPOs (initial public offerings), and acquire a significant amount of
domestic and foreign investment for future development. Moreover, companies can further expand
their capital in various ways, including initiating secondary market offerings and introducing private
funding. In this sense, not only does an IPO generate capital for the company, but it also enables the
company to acquire prolific capital, as long as the company operates profitably, and is able to attract
investors. Therefore,

Analysis Of From One Second To The Next By Werner Herzog
From One Second to the Next is a documentary directed by Werner Herzog that showcases the lives of
four people who were struck by tragedy when they were traumatically involved in a texting and
driving accident. The main purpose of this documentary is to warn viewers about how perilous texting
and driving at the same time can be not for just teens, but also for adults. The four subjects that were
involved in the fatal accidents comprehensively explained the incidents in detail and how their lives
were emotionally and physically affected after the demoralizing aftermath of the texting and driving
accidents. The first subject is Xzavier, a young teen and a victim who became paralyzed after a driver
was texting and driving at the same hit him, another subject is Chandler Gerber (a driver who

Last but not least, Werner Herzog created a masterpiece that would impact millions of drivers all
around the globe. The problem that the United States faces today is drivers frequently text and drive at
the same time which results in devastating consequences. Texting and driving has been growing to an
extent even though it is treacherous where hundreds of thousands of Americans text and drive, which
subsequently results in immense distraction for the driver, leading up to automotive accidents that
damage property and kill civilians or even the driver himself or herself. According to
Textinganddrivingsafety.com, the chances of getting into an automotive accident from texting while

The Issue Of Asylum Seekers
While the issue of asylum seekers has mainly challenged Australia s political power and resources, the
debate is mostly ethical and putting human dignity first is integral. Whilst both political parties have
very similar policies in regards to the topical issues, which are in essence going partially against the
Church s stance and human dignity. Australia has the economy, land, low population and living style
to support more asylum seekers/refugees, especially when we have a ranking of 48 in the world on the
scale of how many refugees we currently have accepted.
With both political parties having fairly similar opinions on the refugee situation, only having slight
differences, only a few differences separate the two, with labor wanting to increase the refugee intake
per year to almost double of what the coalition currently has in place which is 13,750 and labor plan to
raise it up to 27,000. (Australian Labor Party) Also labor also plans to reinstate the UN s refugee
convention, which Abbott is currently undermining, which is technically international law. In one way
this breach of international law Abbot has broken is refusing to take refugees that has been allocated to
Australia by the UN, for it is overstepping the coalitions humanitarian intake policy. Also labor will
work to implement a system to release the children from off shore and on shore detention centres. As
well as cutting down the time it takes for an asylum seeker going through the process to become a

Narcissism Research Paper
Introduction In this current society, an increasing number of people discuss one controversial debate
everywhere: Are younger adults more narcissistic than previous people? In fact, when people select
one side of this debate, they are supposed to know two essential questions: what is truly meaning
about narcissism? How does this debate originate from? In general, Narcissism, originated from the
Greek mythology, is used to describe the action or habit of someone s self complacence. Surprisingly,
it has a totally different explanation in psychology. As Jean M. Twenge (2006) mentioned in her article
named On Army of one: Me, Narcissism is one of the few personality traits that psychologists agree is
almost completely negative. Narcissists are overly focused on themselves and lack empathy for others,
which means they cannot see another person s perspective (para. 22). In other words, narcissistic
people, in åa psychological view, are self centered and grim rather than obsessed with self. Therefore,
this topic actually asks people that is the younger generation grimmer and more self centered than old

Because narcissistic people only care about themselves, people who lack empathy about other s tragic
experiences. Psychologists use some specific example to prove this reason. Twenge (2006) stated that
two teenagers used their gun to kill thirteen innocent people and then committed suicide in the
Columbine high school. Before they did this horrible tragedy, they recorded a videotape and said some
narcissistic words and did some cold blooded actions, like making a shooting noise , said Isn t it fun to
get the respect we re going to deserve? (Twenge, 2006, para.27). This example clarifies that younger
people who are narcissistic showed violence tend because narcissistic people just care about

Teaching Equivalence in Fractions with Unlike Denominators...
Once students get to the fourth grade, learning equivalence in fractions with unlike denominators is
something that they can look forward to...or not look forward to. It can be a very tough lesson and
something that is hard for the children to understand. They need to have a simple understanding of
fractions already. They need to know what they are and how they add up together. Meaning that they
need to understand that fractions are a part of a whole...a fraction of something, and that if the
fractions are equal they can add up to create a whole. The easiest way to describe this and review it is
with a circle representing a pie. Each slice comes from the pie and all put together its a whole. Also
the stronger the students is with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next the teacher would show them an unequivalent fraction by having them compare 1/2 and 1/3 in
their circle. They look close...but they arent! From here a worksheet would be given out with some
fractions for the children to identify their equal. They would work in partner groups and use their pie
pieces to research and experiment and find the answer. This will give the students a good chance to
work together and investigate with hands on pieces and think through the questions.
All of the previous work the students have done with the manipulatives and the visual aids should
have given them a good foundation for writing fractions and seeing how they are represented with
numbers and not just physical parts or fractions of a whole. There is a pattern between equivalent
fractions that is based on counting by multiples. It can also be explained on knowing and using basic
multiplication tables. To find an equivalent fraction is basic multiplication of both the numerator and
the denominator by a number that is more than one or zero. Two is a very good base, low number to
start with. Next is to explain to the students that with equivalent fraction problems you are looking for
that missing number, that missing part that makes it complete.
For example, 2/5 is equal to 4/?
The teacher explains that in order to solve for the missing, you will have to determine 3 times (what)
equals 6. Or divide 3 into 6. From

Dietary Intake Of Sodium Essay
1) The correct amount of sodium is important in the body because it helps control blood pressure and
regulates the function of muscles and nerves (http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/actions sodium human
body 8362.html). Sodium attracts and holds water to help maintain the blood pressure, but if you
consume to much sodium the body will hold on too much water which can increase your blood
pressure (http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/actions sodium human body 8362.html). Sodium comes from
a variety of food. A mistake that people make is believing that sodium is only found in table salt. Most
of the dietary sodium that is added during cooking and at the table only makes up about 11% of the
body s intake of sodium. Meaning that the added table salt is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It would benefit him to incorporate some healthy habits, in order to lose weight. A few tips the help
Hugh s lose weight would be to exercise more and eat smaller portion of food, but also remembering
to no skip meals (http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/lose weight fast how to do it safely#1).
Skipping meals such as breakfast can have a domino effect. Some people believe that if you skip a
meal you are more likely to eat more and crave more for your next meal
(http://www.humankinetics.com/excerpts/excerpts/skipping meals can have negative consequences).
This could lead to an extra calorie intake. Also when Hugh skips a meal he is depriving his body of
essential nutrients that supply him with energy. This can lead to him feeling lethargic, and also giving
him less motivation to exercise (http://www.thedailymeal.com/cook/6 reasons you shouldn t skip
meals). Hugh also needs to incorporate healthy meals instead of fast food. I would recommend that
Hugh cooks extra food that consists of healthy foods such as vegetables, grilled lean fat meats, and
whole grains the night before work and then make him a plate for work. This would help prevent
Hugh from eating fast food on his lunch break, and still not be inconvenient. One of the other big
factors for Hugh to lose weight would be exercise. As of now the only exercise that Hugh is getting is
short walks with his dog and day to day activities. This means Hugh is living a

3d Printing Or Additive Manufacturing
3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a
digital file. The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive
process an object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the entire object is
created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross section of the eventual
object. It all starts with making a virtual design of the object you want to create. This virtual design is
made in a CAD (Computer Aided Design) file using a 3D modeling program (for the creation of a
totally new object) or with the use of a 3D scanner (to copy an existing object). A 3D scanner makes a
3D digital copy of an object. 3D scanners use different technologies to generate a 3d model from
something that already exists. Recently, many IT companies like Microsoft and Google enabled their
hardware to perform 3D scanning, a great example is Microsoft s Kinect. This is a clear sign that
future hand held devices like smartphones will have 3D scanners. To digitize real objects into 3d
models will become as easy as taking a picture. Prices of 3D scanners range from very expensive
professional industrial devices to devices anyone can make at home. To prepare a digital file for
printing, the 3D modeling software slices the final model into hundreds or thousands of horizontal
layers. When the sliced file is uploaded in a 3D printer, the object

Describe How To Make Up Research Paper
Ladies, are you going on a date and want to look good but not over do it? Here is how to do a casual
full face of makeup! You are going to need skin moisturizer, concealer, cover up, contour kit,
eyeshadow, eyebrow gel, lipstick, a beauty blending sponge, blending brush, eyeshadow brushes, eye
liner and an eyebrow utensil.
First step, you are going to use a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin. Do not use one that will
leave your skin extra oily. A moisturizer that has a little bit of color to it would be great! Put it all over
your face and rub it in good!
Step two, apply your foundation with a sponge preferably. Make sure it is all blended. You can go over
it with some powder if you want! But with foundation, the main focus is to cover up your blemishes!

eyebrows. ( I use gel so that is what im going to talk about) You put a little bit of your brow gel on a

  • 2. The Positive Effects Of Democracy s Effect On Economic Growth Democratic countries have shown that they do better in economic growth. Yet, political competition does fosters economic growth. Public welfare is boosted when leaders chose to depend on a larger coalition to keep them in office. Indeed, economic growth depends on good economic policies, however, good economic policies are not always in the best interests of political leaders. It is well known historically that the major observation is that democracy has no negative effect of GDP growth nor overall effect but, democracy might have some indirect positive effects which can be seen through greater stability or more extensive property rights. Democracy is defined as that institutional arrangement for arriving at political decisions in which individuals acquire the power to decide by means of a competitive struggle for the people s vote . the relationship to economic growth is what matters it is stronger when democracy is measured as an increasing concept, not a constant. Nevertheless, both the duration and the level of democracy experience matter when we look at the effect of democracy on economic growth. Lastly, long term democracy which leads to stronger economic performance. Many articles believe that if democracy is maintained over time, influences economic performance in four main channels, which are physical, human, social and political, each one can be conceptualized as a variety of capital Bueno De Mesquita (2001) suggested. • 3. Argumentative Essay On Homelessness In Australia The issue of homelessness in regard to shelter in Australia has been prevalent for an extended period of time in the 21st century. Homelessness is the situation in which individuals are unable to attain a permanent and adequate quality of shelter. Shelter is a human right as stated under article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which specifies Housing as part of the standard of living required for an individual to maintain their wellbeing. Australia s law specifies no legal right to shelter, however as a party of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), the Australian government must recognise that all individuals should be entitled to an adequate standard of living for themself and their family , where one criteria is adequate housing as stated in article 11. It is imperative that in order to fulfil both Australia s obligation to uphold human rights and maintain social cohesion within society both legal and non legal responses are effective in dealing with both the causes and effects of homelessness. Homelessness is an issue which stems from a large range of external factors which by themselves are difficult to address. One such contemporary factor in NSW regarding homelessness is the affordability of adequate shelter with the Sydney Morning Herald reporting the median price in Sydney to be $1.15 million. This has made it harder for individuals to afford homes which are adequate as per the requirements of article 11 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Textual Analysis Of Hamlet Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most popular plays to date. It follows the tragic story of the young prince of Denmark and his quest for revenge. Although it is a great play, it is much too out dated for the modern generation to be interested in it and to see the greatness of it. The solution for this would be to create a film that not only exhibits the central themes but also attracts the contemporary teenage audience. To effectively gain their attention, the setting, characters and language would need to be modified. First of all, the setting of Hamlet takes place in Elizabethan times; however, the current teenage audience would not find that setting relatable or interesting. The setting needs to fit with the audience they are targeting and if it is a modern day audience then the setting should reflect that. Furthermore, buildings such as castles are no longer common and the teenage audience would be able to connect more with high schools or colleges more since it very ... Times change and so do the words that people use so it will be hard for a modern day society to understand the passages full of metaphors and allusions relating to Elizabethan times. Additionally, watchers may find the film boring or complex if they do not understand what each character is saying. Conversation is a key aspect in grasping the nature of certain characters and this cannot be done if the watcher does not comprehend it. Additionally, allusions are abundant in Hamlet, but these allusions are now centuries too old. Allusions need to be understood by the audience for the most impact but the ones in Hamlet will not work. For example, It out herods Herod (3.2.14) Herod was known to be a tyrant but that is not common knowledge for someone in this day and age. Language is a major part in Hamlet to progress the story and characters but if the audience does not comprehend it, it is more or less ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two year colleges like NOVA are working closely with four year universities to ensure this transition is smooth and easy. Four year institutions and universities have also recognized what a transfer student can bring to their schools. Most students attend community college with a plan of transferring to a four year university. Community Colleges have great opportunities for their students, with high resources, affordable expenses and small classrooms students have many reasons for choosing community colleges as a freshman. Nonetheless, an Associate Degree is designed to be a transition rather than an end goal. This number does not include the number of people that are under the age of 65. Many people that rely on long term care live on disability or social security. These people are living on extremely limited income put them and their families in mental distress trying to figure out how to pay for the needed care. Medicare provides only 100 days of care following hospitalization (Weston 2012). After the 100 days it then becomes the responsibility of the patient to either pay out of their pocket or use a supplemental insurance. For many this is an issue as they do not have any other insurance nor do they have the finances to afford this care on their own. With patients under Medicaid insurance there is still an issue Medicaid provides long term care, but only after a patient has deplete his/her finances (Weston 2012). This is a type of redox reaction, which is a reaction characterised by a transfer of electrons (LibreTexts, 2014). Redox reactions consist of an oxidation half reaction, in which electrons are gained, and a reduction half reaction, in which electrons are lost, taking place simultaneously in an overall redox reaction. To directly prevent these reactions, SO3 in the wine reacts directly with the oxygen in the wine according to the equation: SO3 (aq) + O2(aq) + H2O(l)  H2SO4(aq) However as SO3 exists in the wine only in very small concentrations, a majority of the antioxidant actions occurs from molecular SO2 reacting with the wine compounds themselves. Firstly, molecular SO2 reverses the oxidation of colourless diphenol to brown o quinones by binding to and inhibiting PPO, which catalyses the oxidation (refer to figure 3) (Martin, 2011). Molecular SO2 also prevents the oxidation of ethanol by hydrogen peroxide (produced by the oxidation of hydroxyl phenols) into acetaldehyde (Rotter, 2002) which occurs in the ... • 16. Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez, a well-known painter... Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez, a well known painter during the 17th century, was born in Seville in 1599 (Brown 1). He was the eldest of the seven children, and the son of Silva and Jerónima Velazquez (Brown 1). Both of his parents claimed to be descendants of lesser nobility, a claim that Velázquez will later benefit from (Brown 1). During his time, painting was considered a craft, which is work done with hands rather than the mind, meaning it was unworthy of a nobleman (Carr 26). Velázquez was sent to Franciso Pacheco, a well known painter in Seville, as an apprentice (Carr 26). Palomino even knew all of the people being portrayed except for one, and even gave the date when the painting was completed, 1656 (Harris 170). The center of the piece is focused on the Infanta Margarita, the five year old princess, who is surrounded by her two meninas, maids of honour. The menina standing on the Infanta s left side, handing her a vessel of water while doing a curtsey is named María Aguestina Sarmineto (Carr 47). The menina standing on her right look as if she is about to bend down to whisper something to the princess or about to do a curtsy is named Isabel de Velasco (Carr 47). In the bottom right corner of the painting are two dwarfs, Maribarbola and Nicolas Pertusato (Carr 47). Nicolas appears to be awakening the mastiff (Carr 47). Analysis Of Franchise And Pardon By Nast Franchise or Pardon During the Reconstruction period, beginning in 1865, the United States entered a period in which they mended relationships between the North and the South. It was also a period of hostility between both sides. The war had ended and the Southerners had suffered plenty of damage to their land. The Reconstruction period was a time which the South was rebuilt with the integration of all the newly freed blacks into society. This particular collection I chose by Thomas Nast called Franchise. In the accompanying cartoon, Pardon by Nast, Columbia is depicted sitting with one arm crossed, next to the hilt of her sword, and her other hand is propped against her cheek and face, which holds a more than annoyed expression on her face. In Pardon Columbia faces a kneeling mass of ex confederate men asking for pardon, that party is led by Robert E. Lee. Columbia s sword is pointed towards the man as a symbol of distrust from the nation towards ex confederate generals. From this depiction it can be inferred that the people believed they could not trust those that left the United States. By placing these two cartoons adjacent to each other one could infer that Nast and some portion of those viewing this newspaper thought that freed slaves should be able to vote and those in the ex confederacy have their rights to vote revoked. Many Radical Republicans, including Thaddeus Stevens, encouraged Congress to protect not only the voting rights of blacks but also the protection of the black economics, political and social rights (Harrold ... Critical Pedagogy Analysis In The Art of Critical Pedagogy, Jeffrey Duncan Andrade and Ernest Morrell provide vivid examples on how critical pedagogy is beneficial for academic success amongst individuals of color. Critical pedagogy is a multicultural form of teaching that is rooted in the essential experiences of marginalized peoples; that is centered in a critique of structural, economic, and racial oppression; that is focused on dialogue instead of a one way transmission of knowledge; and that is structured to empower individuals and collectives as agents of social change . Should The Bush Administration Justified In Iraq The 2003 Invasion of Iraq not only signalled the beginning of the Iraq War, but also demonstrated the power and unchallenged military dominance of the United States. Unlike the first Gulf War, many of the US public, media and officials criticized the Bush Administration s decision to invade Iraq by questioning the legality and the evidence used to justify the war. These arguments as to whether the Bush Administration was justified in its use of hard power to invade Iraq are diverse and disputed among many historians. Almost all the US public, media and government officials at the time held a common belief that Iraq owned WMD. Kenneth Pollack (2004), PhD, a former CIA intelligence analyst and expert on Middle East politics and military affairs, mentions the common belief that Saddam owned WMD when he says that the American public and much of the rest of the world believed that after Saddam Hussein s regime sank, a vast flotsam of weapons of mass destruction would bob to the surface (p.78). The US government s common agreement that Hussein was holding WMD was significantly a result of high priority intelligence reports such as the 2002 US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) which claimed to have held a 90% level of confidence that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction (Siilberman, 2015). The importance of these NIE reports is further supported by Kevin Whitelaw (2004), a prominent American reporter for US News and World Report, when he says that due to the reports substantial conclusiveness, the most pivotal document was the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq s weapons (p.24). Although, the belief that Saddam possessed WMD was not only held by the US government analysts but also by many officials from the United Nations (UN). According to Pollack nearly twenty former inspectors from the United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) did not doubt that Iraq was operating a secret centrifugal plant (Pollack, 2004, p.82). Clearly, there was a common belief before the 2003 invasion that Saddam was in possession of WMD. In fact, Greg Theilman, who retired as acting director of the nonproliferation office in the State Department s Intelligence and Research Bureau as the NIE was being drafted, believed that if someone voiced in 2002 that Iraq may have destroyed its WMD arsenal in the 1990 s ... Overseas Listing Of Mainland Chinese Companies Young Le ENGL 100: Writing about America and Globalization Prof. Elizabeth McKinsey November 18, 2014 From Sick Men to Strong Lions: Overseas Listing of Mainland Chinese Companies 1. Introduction As Mainland Chinese companies develop, innovate, and grow, China has become one of the superpowers in the world. Traditional state owned businesses introduced private capital to break up state monopolies and became joint ventures to solve the potential management issues. In this way, Chinese companies were transformed from sick men , as westerners once described them, to strong lions , reflecting westerners updated impression of China. Simultaneously, emerging companies entered the domestic market quickly due to their pre eminent technology and unparalleled innovation. However, currently, all Chinese companies face one huge problem lack of capital. Thanks to the advancement of the worldwide financial market, especially that of stock exchanges, Chinese leading firms have the chance to propose IPOs (initial public offerings), and acquire a significant amount of domestic and foreign investment for future development. Moreover, companies can further expand their capital in various ways, including initiating secondary market offerings and introducing private funding. In this sense, not only does an IPO generate capital for the company, but it also enables the company to acquire prolific capital, as long as the company operates profitably, and is able to attract investors. Narcissism Research Paper Introduction In this current society, an increasing number of people discuss one controversial debate everywhere: Are younger adults more narcissistic than previous people? In fact, when people select one side of this debate, they are supposed to know two essential questions: what is truly meaning about narcissism? How does this debate originate from? In general, Narcissism, originated from the Greek mythology, is used to describe the action or habit of someone s self complacence. Surprisingly, it has a totally different explanation in psychology. As Jean M. Twenge (2006) mentioned in her article named On Army of one: Me, Narcissism is one of the few personality traits that psychologists agree is almost completely negative. Narcissists are overly focused on themselves and lack empathy for others, which means they cannot see another person s perspective (para. 22). • 30. 3d Printing Or Additive Manufacturing 3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes. In an additive process an object is created by laying down successive layers of material until the entire object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced horizontal cross section of the eventual object. It all starts with making a virtual design of the object you want to create. This virtual design is made in a CAD (Computer Aided Design) file using a 3D modeling program (for the creation of a totally new object) or with the use of a 3D scanner (to copy an existing object). A 3D scanner makes a 3D digital copy of an object. 3D scanners use different technologies to generate a 3d model from something that already exists. Recently, many IT companies like Microsoft and Google enabled their hardware to perform 3D scanning, a great example is Microsoft s Kinect. This is a clear sign that future hand held devices like smartphones will have 3D scanners. To digitize real objects into 3d models will become as easy as taking a picture. Prices of 3D scanners range from very expensive professional industrial devices to devices anyone can make at home. To prepare a digital file for printing, the 3D modeling software slices the final model into hundreds or thousands of horizontal layers.
