In our case, Microsoft developed a new operating system Windows Vista as the solution for the
problems of Windows XP rather than developing patches and upgraded versions to provide solution.
This has resulted in failure to recognize the actual problem which should occur during the
problematization.
When Windows XP was released in 2001, there were about 600 million computers used worldwide.
Approximately 90% of them were running Windows but it was split between two code bases:
Windows 95/98 (65%) and Windows NT/2000 (26%), according to IDC. One of the challenging task
of Windows XP was to unite the Windows 9x and Windows NT code bases, and it eventually
accomplished that.
However in 2008, there were over 1.1 billion PCs in use worldwide and of which 70% (800 million
PCs approximately) were running Windows XP which makes it the most widely installed operating
system of all time. That s a lot of inertia to overcome, especially for IT departments that have
consolidated their deployments and applications around Windows

How Did The Million Man March Promote African Americans...
Throughout time African Americans have fought for their equality, integrity, and unity. The Million
Man March is another example of an act to promote African American equality, show their
importance, and unify all. The March took place October 16, 1995 in Washington D.C. . It was
organized in order to accomplish many goals that benefit African Americans. What were the goals of
the Million Man March? The Million Man march aimed to raise awareness of the importance of
African American rights, to show African Americans value to society, and to promote unity between
African American communities.
One of the goals of the Million Man March was to raise awareness for African Americans rights. The
importance of the Million Man March was to show America and themselves that African Americans
are able to come together on issues. The leader of the march, Minister Louis Farrakhan , encouraged
people to demand that politicians develop an agenda to address the needs and concerns of African
Americans. Delta college graduate, Otha Farley writes, The planned strategy included registering to

The Million Man March showed people what America s workplace and marketplace would look like
without the participation of African Americans; empty. The U.S. was built on the backs of the
ancestors of hard working African Americans who collectively make significant contributions to
America s earning and spending power. Otha Farley writes They served notice that no longer will
African Americans, particularly African American males, view themselves as a powerless people, but
as a force to be reckoned with. The image of unmotivated, irresponsible, politically apathetic people is
no longer acceptable to these sons of slaves, who are, more accurately, sons of builders of this nation.

The Progressive Era ( 1900-1919 )
The Progressive Era (1900 1919) presented solutions to the social, political, and economic changes in
the United States of America which had surfaced in the framework of the rapid changes produced
during the Industrial Revolution and the growth of modern capitalism in America. Many progressives
believed that these changes marked the end of the old order and invited the beginning of a new era fit
for the industrial age. Others believed that these changes marked a necessity for improvement rather
than complete eradication. Regardless, American citizens utilized their ability to enrich social
circumstances, both politically and morally, to guarantee social justice around 1865 1929. In a general
sense, the conservative goals of this period substantiated the Liberal developments passed by
Progressive leaders. Corresponding to the definition of conservatism, a political philosophy based on
tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions, and preferring gradual development to
abrupt change , the triumph of Conservatism existed in a sense that efforts were made to maintain
established philosophies vital to an industrial social order. The Progressive leaders essentially wanted
to perpetuate Liberal reform to bring upon general conservatism. Therefore, the 19th century can truly
be defined by both the triumph of conservatism and the success of progressives. An array of
accomplishments from the Progressive s battle were conservative in nature. The fight against

Tossing the Cookies I chose this ethical dilemma as I believe it offers a chance to employ both
individualistic and communal approaches in the solution. The individualistic approach would be
appropriate for use with Jessica to address her personal behavior. The communal approach would be
appropriate to address all of the employees, who are acting essentially as a community, as some of
them also took unsold perishable items. Initially, I would approach Jessica to discuss her motivations

gifted education and funding Essay
How Lack Of Funding Effects Gifted Students In Ohio
This year is a landmark year for Gifted Education in Ohio; for the last few years the number of gifted
children in Ohio has been growing steadily. This year for the first time the percentage of children in
Ohio that were identified as Gifted and Talented finally equaled the percentage of children who were
served in Special Education Classrooms. There is only one small problem with this statement. The
percentage is equal only if you count the students who are identified as being Talented and Gifted, not
served. There are currently only 11% of all Talented and Gifted students being served in the State of
Ohio.
The Ohio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ohio now requires school district to test students to see how gifted they are, and to notify parents that
there students are talented and gifted, but does not require that school districts do anything to enhance
or accelerate that child s education. The state would never consider doing this to a child in special
education, but it is well accepted in gifted education.
The Ohio Department of Education beliefs that gifted children can make it on their own and do not
need special services. This is not true, high percentages of students become underachieves and never
attend college. Many are discipline problems, eventually dropout, and many commit suicide. Many
gifted students who stand out in classrooms, are often used as a tutor for the other students. This only
further excludes them from learning and makes them stand out to ridicule.
The No Child Left Behind law is commonly referred to as the No Child Pushed Forward law in the
gifted community. This is due to the fact the classrooms are required to assure that every child meets
basic requirements, however once gifted children meet these requirements they are required to wait
and practice a few more times while every catches up. This law has helped many slow learning
students, but it has impeded many gifted students.

Energy And Other Natural Resources
This paper uses the terms natural resource(s), resource(s), and reserve(s) in many different contexts.
Please use care when interpreting their usage and context. Background This critical review will
consider the claim by Bjorn Lomborg, that energy and other natural resources have become more
abundant, not less so and offer evidence that supports his claim (Lomborg, 2001). It is important to
make the distinction that Lomborg does not claim that reserves of natural resources have been
increasing, he is merely stating that the overall global availability of energy and other resources have
become more abundant. The amount of a natural resource that a region or deposit has is classified
either as a reserve or as a resource. Reserves of natural resources are the volume of natural resource
that is economically and commercially exploitable with available technology. Resources are the total
volume of natural resources present in the system or region, but may not be exploitable with current
technology or economic evaluations. Resources may turn into reserves and reserves may turn into
resources, dependent upon current market prices. (Owen, Inderwildi King, 2010). Lomborg s claim
relates directly to the issue of global sustainability. With a growing global population and an ever
increasing demand for natural resources, the future of sustainability relies on our current consumption
and management of natural resources. Non renewable resources must be properly inventoried

Holland has a lot of windmills. But, little do you know they have a lot more meaning than you think.
Throughout the decades, wooden shoes have been worn less and less, but the oldest known pair of

that wooden shoes were invented by the French, even though they were found all over the European

It is the customer! The customer is the person who pays everyone s salary and who decides whether a
business is going to succeed or fail. In fact, the customer can fire everybody in the company from the
chairman (CEO) on down, and he can do it simply by spending his money somewhere else. Literally
everything we do, every concept perceived, every technology developed and associate employed, is

Leaving a good first impression on our guests is very important to Choice Hotels. Sales people know

Lower-Class Myth Summary
Cedric Johnson examines and rejects the concept of extraordinary, myth under the class that was
pivotal to the defeat of the welfare state in the United States, particularly influential in shaping a
market oriented reconstruction of New Orleans. Moynihan believes that black poverty is rooted in
culture rather than economic structures that affect the working class in general and has cast a long
shadow over the number of Americans who think of inequality. Johnson examines how the spread of
conservative ideology has affected the working lives of the new Europeans. In addition, he briefly
reviews the Cold War origins of the lower class myth, the belief that chronic urban poverty is the
result of a distinct and different culture of the poor. Despite

On June 22nd 1903 John Herbert Dillinger was born to John and Mollie Dillinger . His parents ran and
owned a grocery store in Indianapolis, Indiana, and at the age of three his mother died . John Dillinger
s father described his son as a restless and aggressive child . Beginning from a young age, the dark
side of Dillinger became evident, as he created and led a gang called The Dirty Dozen . The worst
criminal act the Dirty Dozen participated in consisted of stealing coal from the nearby railroad . As
Dillinger grew older, so did the intensity of his crimes. In his teenage years Dillinger stole a car to

stay. Together they started to create an escape plan. These men later mentored him in the form of

John Hamilton, and Russell Clark all influenced Dillinger, and after their escape from jail they joined
his gang . Dillinger s completed gang included these men and also John Red Hamilton, Tommy
Carroll, Baby Face Nelson, Pat Reilly, Russell Boobie Clark, Ed Shouse, Harry Copeland, William

on John. The two became close throughout their stay in jail, and worked together in later crimes .
After his parole in May of 1933, Dillinger entered into a broken country and he soon capitalized on
the situation by allegedly freeing his gang from jail, and soon after he robbed his first bank in Ohio

Dillinger to start trouble again, just eleven days after his escape, he and his gang robbed Central

Desmond Doss Thesis Statement
Desmond Doss is one of the most famous U.S conscientious objector in all of U.S military service
history. Desmond Doss is known for his brave work at Hacksaw Ridge in Okinawa by single handily
saving 75 men by means of carrying them and by manoeuvring them down with his unique rope
technique which earned him the medal of honour in October the 12th 1945. Therefore making him the
first ever conscientious objector in U.S military history to receive the award. Desmond Doss s legacy
has been shown throughout the ages in television, documentaries and now in the latest 2016 movie
entitled Hacksaw Ridge after the real life spot in Okinawa. The movie depicts the true story of U.S
serviceman and conscientious objector Desmond Doss in his journey to Hacksaw Ridge. At First
Desmond Doss was not fond of people making films or being portrayed in any sort of media because
of the inaccuracies that these films might would portray of him because he was deeply focused on his
religion and as a seventh day Adventist. But an agreement was soon with him and his firm.
The Film is seen as one of the most accurate depictions of Desmond Doss s life journey to hacksaw
ridge. However the film does have some inaccuracies. The Film starts off with Desmond Doss as a
young boy playing around with his brother and when they are fighting Desmond takes it too far and
hits his younger brother with a brick, where Desmond faces the consequences of nearly killing his
brother. During the aftermath of the incident

Breaking The Norm Analysis
The norm I decided to break was to stop cursing. This is something I have tried to do for the last year

using profanity, and used words or fruit names in place of the profane word I would normally use. I

wanted to start around my friends; because I knew I would get some amazing responses from them.
Each time an opportunity would come for me to use a phrase that involved profane language I would
say son of a mother very loud. My friend s faces were

The Effects Of Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivation And...
Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivation and Student Achievement
Rosa Elena Garza
Texas Tech University
EPSY 5379
Abstract
To examine the effects of rewards on intrinsic motivation for children in special education, a review of
research was conducted. Students who are intrinsically motivated, tend to experience school success
because they select challenging activities and spend more time on the task at hand. It can be very easy
to undermine intrinsic motivation by using rewards. This change in motivation then results in more
errors in the learning process as well as slower acquisition of skills.
Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivation and Student Achievement
Students with learning disabilities are often extremely unmotivated. To them, school tends to be one
failure after another. This poor student achievement is usually due to an extreme lack of motivation. In
attempts to overcome this lack of motivation, rewards are offered. Many of us have heard, If only they
were more motivated, they would do so much better on test and get better grades when having
conversations about these individuals. The effect that is intended for the reward is often mistaken and
therefore it can have the opposite effect of what was originally intended. Children who lack intrinsic
motivation will get the wrong idea from receiving rewards. Sometimes when rewards are used, the
student will find ways to excel in the task more so then when the reward is not in place (Amabile and
Gitmore, 1984). Students with

A Case Lease For Finance Lease
From the perspective of the lessee, this case would be treated as a finance lease because it reflects the
relevant requirement in AASB117 Leases for finance lease. AASB 117 define finance lease as a lease
that transfers substantially all the risk and rewards incidental to ownership of an asset. Some
indicators for a lease to be classified as finance lease are: fair value, non cancellability, contingent
rent, transfer of ownership, bargain purchase option, lease term, economic life, and minimum lease
payments (AASB 117 par 10 11). In this case, we can see that some of the indicators of being a
finance lease has been satisfied. First indicator is the non cancellability of the lease. It was indicated in
the case that the lease Salohcin Ltd ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, it also satisfied the minimum lease payment, where the inception of the lease the present value
of the minimum lease payment amounts to at least substantially all of the fair value of the asset which
is $349, 160.Therefore, this lease agreement could be treated as a finance lease.
b) Present Value First, as the lease is non cancellable and at the inception of the lease the present value
of the minimum lease payments amounts to at least substantially all of the fair value of the leased
asset (calculations provided below), the lease is a finance lease.
Present value of 4 lease payments of $100,000 discounted at 20% (we eliminate the executory costs)
$100,000 x 3.106 =$310,600
Present value of unguaranteed residual $80,000 x 0.482 = $38,560 $349,160
c) Schedule of Lease Receipts for the Lessor
Note: Because the first receipt occurs immediately it is not discounted.
The implicit rate is the rate that, when applied to the minimum lease payments plus unguaranteed
residual, causes the sum of these present values to equal the fair value of the asset at lease inception. It
is emphasised that unguaranteed residuals are not part of the minimum lease payments because the
lessor is not required to make such payments. However, knowledge of the unguaranteed residual is
necessary to determine the interest rate implicit in the lease. Using 20 per cent, the present value of the
minimum lease payments, plus the unguaranteed residual, is:

Celiac Disease And Gluten Free Products
That may be a snarky way of saying it, but it s true. Scientific studies have concluded that sensitivity
to gluten for people who do not have Celiac disease may be completely psychological.Especially
relevant in a country where 17 million people may unnecessarily believe that they are gluten sensitive.
(Source: A Mayo Clinic survey in 2012, cited in a NY Times article.)Especially shocking in a planet
that spent $10.5 billion last year in gluten free products. (Source: Mintel, a market research company,

RIPA Remix Manifesto
RIP: A Remix Manifesto offers a convincing case for copyright reform raising the issues about the
viscous control on the ownership of intellectual property against the free access to share ideas. Gaylor
(2008) is passionate about the ridiculous copyright laws and their ongoing restrictive modifications in
the USA that are demolishing the creativity of new ideas and innovations that these copyright laws
were originally meant to protect. Gaylor (2008) uses his favourite artist Girl Talk who samples and

creativity of the past for the inspiration of their new idea; including Walt Disney and Metallica who
has borrowed previously made song structures from musicians both have now become harsh advocates
for the current copyright laws. In keeping with Gaylor s (2008) style, the remaining remix manifesto

Hammurabi Family Law Dbq Essay
Hammurabi was the king of Babylonia around 4000 years ago. Hammurabi had a code of laws with
282 laws. He had 3 different types of laws, family laws, property laws, and personal injury laws.
These laws might seem just, but they are unjust. Family laws are laws related to family life. Family
law 129 states, If a married lady is caught adultery with another man, they shall bind them and cast
them into the water, (document c). Family law 195 claims that If a son has struck his father, his hands
shall be cut off, (document c). Some might claim that these laws are just but actually, they are unjust
because they are too harsh. For example law 129 is unfair because what if the man is single and it s
not his fault that the girl is caught adultery with him, and then the man has to die along with the
women for something that was the women s fault. Law 195 is unjust because what if the father did

Property law 21 declares that If a man has broken through the wall to rob a house, they shall put him
to death and pierce him, or hang him in the hole in the wall which he has made, (document d).
Property law 48 states that If a man has borrowed money to plant his fields and a storm has flooded
his field or carried away the crop,... in that year he does not have to pay his creditor, (document d).
People often assume that these laws are just but they are unjust. Law 21 is unjust because killing
someone for stealing something small is too harsh. Maybe for a punishment for stealing a small item,
you could put them somewhere in jail. If the item was something valuable than that person should be
killed. Law 48 is unjust because if a storm kills the crops of the person who borrowed the money he
does not have to pay back the money to the creditor. This is unfair to the creditor because the creditor

Frankenstein Language Analysis
What is language? In the Merriam Webster dictionary language is defined as the system of words or
signs that people use to express thoughts and feelings to each other . This is a very broad definition
and captures so many of the tools that we use each and every day to communicate with each other. It
includes spoken or written words as well as non verbal cues and signs, including sign language. It also
captures systems of communication such as computer languages and braille. This is why an historical
figure like Helen Keller as referenced by Perkins.org ,who was deaf and blind was also able to acquire
language skills and give a voice to disabled people. She is a perfect example that language empowers
us to understand, question and change ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone uses language to influence others, whether it is in our small family world or the world in a
broader sense. Mark Pagel in his Ted talk, How language transformed humanity (ted.com) described
how language gives us the power to change the world as follows: I m talking about your language, of
course, because it allows you to implant a thought from your mind directly into someone else s mind .
Ultimately, language gives every one of us the power to effect change by using our knowledge and
opinions to influence others and the way we see the world. This is what the politicians and the media
in our society seek to do every day. The broader our knowledge of language and the subtleties of
language in our different spheres (home, work, society and planet), the more broadly we can effect
change. In Ru, for example, we learn that the physical language varies depending on the culture. If a
mark of affection can sometimes be taken for an insult, perhaps the gesture of love is not universal: it
too must be translated from one language to another, must be learned. (Thúy 96) In order to effect
change, we must have knowledge of these subtleties of language. Further, in the novel Frankenstein
the monster attempted to change his world by coercing Frankenstein into creating another monster
who would be his mate. Unfortunately, he did this by killing those

Foot And Mouth Research Paper
FOOT AND MOUTH: CATTLE
Key Facts
Foot and Mouth (FMD) is recognized as a highly contagious viral disease which affects cloven
hooved animals, such as cattle (Bos Taurus) (Grubman and Baxt, 2004).
The mortality rate is very low as affected animals can recover from the disease, however, due to the
loss of production and infectious state of the disease, infected animals are usually culled.
The outbreak of FMD in the United Kingdom in 2001 caused the destruction of about 6 million
animals from 9,515 farms and losses of £8 million. It then spread to Ireland, the Netherlands and
France.
Aetiology
Aphthovirus is the virus that causes FMD.

FMD is spread by direct and indirect contact with infected substances, mechanical vectors ... Show

It can also survive 14 days in dry faecal matter, 39 days in urine and up to 28 days in soil.
After infection with the FMD virus, the average incubation period in cattle is 2 14 days. The
incubation period of FMD can vary and is highly dependent on the environment, host, virus strain and
the way in which the individual got infected (e.g. inhalation or ingestion).
Diagnosis
Symptoms of FMD include:
Drop in milk production and blisters on teats
Lameness or difficulty walking due to blisters on feet
Significant increase in body temperature for 3 consecutive days
Vesicles that discharge clear or cloudy fluid
Sticky and foamy saliva
Weight loss/anorexia due to painful tongue and mouth blisters
Abortions
Heart disease and sudden death
In cattle, the clinical signs of the disease are easily confused with the symptoms of vesicular stomatitis
(Alexandersen, Zhang, Donaldson and Garland, 2003). Therefore, laboratory testing is essential for
diagnosis. Bodily fluids are taken for testing. If no vesicles can be found, fluid can be collected by
pharyngeal swabbing for virus isolation or reverse transcription PCR. Serum (blood) samples may
also be tested this way (OIE Terrestrial Manual,

Margaret Atwood Sirens
The Myth of the Sirens Sirens have always been a key point in mythology. In Greek mythology sirens
were a creature half bird and half woman who lured sailors to destruction by the sweetness of her song
(Britannica). Once a man heard their beautiful song it would drive them insane, leading them into
jumping overboard. John William Waterhouse, in his panting Ulysses and the Sirens, he shows you
how the sirens were believed to truly look to the Greeks and how the hideous creatures would come
swooping down and go after the men. Meanwhile in her poem Siren Song , Margaret Atwood, shows
how the sirens would cunningly trick the men with their beautiful singing voice. The poem Siren Song
by Margaret Atwood shows how the sirens would use their cunning ability to trick the men into
coming with them. By analyzing the poem, you could come across the connection that the author is
trying to compare the to tricksters. The sirens draw you in by saying I will tell the secret to you, to
you, only to you (Lines 19 20). This peaks the inner curiosity of man. The tone of the poem could be
described as manipulative, since the sirens main goal is to manipulate you into following them. An
example of their manipulation is Only you, only you can, you are unique (Lines ... Show more content

Evaluating Bob s Process For Establishing The Nss...
1. Evaluate Bob s process for establishing the NSS advisory board. What could be improved? Bob s
rationale behind establishing an advisory board, and his approach for selecting its members, has thus
far been successful and valuable for him and the company. He correctly recognized the importance of
the big picture, as he chose people whose backgrounds covered a wide range of industries and skills
and who could therefore fill in any gaps. Furthermore, Bob s choices were all successful business
professionals, so he could therefore be relatively sure that they would be effective in handling any
future challenges and recognizing future opportunities. Bob was also cognizant that the business and
the family needed unbiased consultants in order to offer advice regarding family employment, and
establishing the advisory board presented an outlet in which family members could privately discuss
any issues on their mind. Lastly, he established an objective for the board, in that the board would only
focus on the big picture, which meant that they didn t get caught in the daily details or argue over the
day to day routine. However, he was fortunate in several ways in how well the board worked out. For
example, he didn t clear the names with his brother Rex until after he had already offered them a board
position and they d accepted; this could have caused conflict with Rex if he had felt slighted or left out
of the decision making process or if he had had any complaints about any

Stevens
Stevens Johnson syndrome is a rare immune response in which the person s epidermal layers die and
are shed (Cooper, 2012). It proves to be fatal when not identified early and interventions started.
Although, despite early identification and interventions death does still occur. Stevens Johnson is
considered to be part of a spectrum of Severe Cutaneous Adverse Reactions (Knepel, 2008). The other
two conditions on the spectrum are Erythema Multiforme at the lesser end, and Toxic Epidermal
Necrolysis on the more severe side. TENS can overlap with SJS, along with being used
interchangeably by some (Cooper, 2012). Due to the fact that Stevens Johnson is so rare the

Literacy From The Army Of Me
Literacy from the army to me
.
The military has always been a part of my family s life. My grandfather was in the army along with
his son and my grandmothers other son s. I also have many cousins who are still in and one who
worked at the Pentagon. My uncles use to always tell us stories about their military service and how
much they learned. Most of my cousins that joined only joined because of these stories and the lavish
lifestyles they have seen my uncles live. Unlike them, I wasn t drawn in by the stories my uncles told
me, or the war letters from my deceased grandfather. For some reason it was my mothers dream for
me; probably because its always something she wanted to do but was afraid, a fantasy I wasn t quite
ready to live in for her or them. I remember high school. Everyone I was close to was in JROTC. I
would watch them in laughter every Monday morning when they walked around in their tight fitted
uniforms. To me it was all a big joke; quite funny to say the least. I mean, really, how many took this
seriously? It wasn t like it was really being in the army. It was just for show. Either way I know for
sure that I didn t. I was always asked to join for the next year and told how it could benefit me, but
somehow I always found myself politely declining. I would begin to walk as fast as I could feel giddy
inside. I was still immature and had the mindset that being all you could be didn t look like that at all.
I pictured strong and arrogant

Judgment in the House of Sand and Fog Essay
Judgment in the House of Sand and Fog People place judgment on one another every day based on
differences. Sometimes it is done subconsciously; sometimes it is done on purpose. In the book The
House of Sand and Fog, by Andre Dubus III, two different cultures were represented; Kathy
represented the culture of the western civilization, whereas Behrani represented the culture of
Persians. People judge one another based on unimportant things, and get judged based on those same
things as well. Two cultures were used to amplify how different their cultures were from one another.
Throughout the book cultures vocalized what they did not like about the other cultures by placing
judgment on people based on ethnicity, appearance, and status; ... Show more content on

167). Lester judged Behrani s morals and his past based on the fact that Behrani was an ethnic man, a
Persian man, photographed with a man who has a bad history. He also threatened to have the INS
check out the Behrani family, and pull strings if necessary to get the Behranis out of the house, even
though the Behrani family had full U.S. citizenship at that point. These judgments passed out by both
cultures show that all cultures function using judgment. In the reading The Case for Contamination,
Appiah states that some people like and some people don t like that certain cultures have accepted
being able to get a discussion going about Ronaldo, Mike Tyson or Tupac, and being able to find a
bottle of Guinness or Coca Cola, (paragraph 9). Many people judge people who have accepted western
civilizations, considering their identities threatened. Different cultures possess different ideas of how
people should present themselves. Appearance is a large part of culture, because a complete stranger
can be judged based on their appearance. Behrani is the kind of man who always has to look put
together. He will not let people see him in un kept clothing. When he worked on the highway doing
manual labor, he would wear a work shirt , however when he left he would go to the bathroom at a
hotel where he parked his car and change immediately and wash up. He did not want anybody to see

Descriptive Essay On Six Flags
I was bouncing up and down in my car seat my seat belt trying to keep a hold of me. I was so excited
to finally get to go to six flags. As we pulled up to get into the parking lot, they wind rushed through
my hair, I stuck my head out the window to get a better view of six flags. The rides going back in forth
and the people eagerly waiting in line to get in. we pulled up to a parking. The car came to a stopped,
everyone jolted forward and then back in their seats. I opened the door stepping out and letting the rest
of the people come out. The door slammed behind me and echoed through the parking lot. We made
our way getting closer and closer to the amusement park, my older cousins were walking behind me
and the young ones who were running across the street playing, my uncle screamed at them to not play
in the street.
We had finally arrived at the front of the amusement park. We all waited anxiously to get our tickets.
Finally we had reached the front of the line and we entered the park we walked past all of the stores.
We all rushed to get in line but were stopped by my uncle, who said we must have lunch before we did
anything else. So I gobbled down my food, that greased my hands and filled the plate with ketchup.
Afterwards, when everyone was done with their food, we got up but was stopped again and was
warned by our uncle to wait for our food to settle. But my ignorant self just kept running into the line.
My stomach had butterflies flying left and right. After all of

Surrogate Court Cases
Overall, the surrogate proves to have rights that need to be identified and upheld. Those rights may
conflict with the rights of the intended parents both legally and ethically. As we consider the contracts
used in surrogacy and previous court cases, we have a more concise ruling on the borders of the end of
the surrogate s rights and the beginning of the intended parent s rights. Since the intended parents
initiate the process, they should receive their intentions, but it should be regulated. Depending on the
case, the social parents may not be not related to the child (Nardo 16). In previous court cases, rulings
are difficult because of the conflicting moral and legal rights of parenthood. The results typically point

We cannot battle those who are infertile for what extent they would go to in order to have a child
(Cotton 34). Because of this, regulation of surrogacy is important, especially in terms of those who are
not the ones who initiate the process. For surrogates, we must understand the emotional toll they will
go through and accept things will not be perfect. Their efforts should be recognized in some form
along with appreciation for their cooperation. As a surrogate, they should remember what the purpose
of the process is and stick to what they were assigned and agreed to do. Intended parents should
understand that when a third party is involved disagreements will occur and compromise should be
exerted. They must also recognize as much as they have wanted a child, the surrogate may form the
same attachment as they do, so they must address it morally not selfishly. For children, we must
consider the complexity of surrogacy, as they are the direct results. They should be given the same
respect and care as another other child. Their interests should be kept in mind whether it is from the
social parents side or the biological parents

The Impact Of Technology On Adult Literacy
Introduction
The way technology has impacted adult literacy has changed the way adults and learning to read and
write. Technology has granted tools that have made new ways to learn possible helping lower adult
literacy. Tools such as commenting tools, virtual meeting tools, speech to text, text to speech, and low
level coaching tools in electronic texts improve the way people learn and communicate with others
beyond the classroom. This problem effects millions of people making it highly important to the
betterment of the world. Around 13.8% of the world s population age 15 and over is illiterate. There
are around 358 million adults in the world who are illiterate three quarters of which come from South
Asia and sub Saharan Africa.
Statement of Problem
It is important to see if it is a worthwhile method to use technology in literacy education by itself, in
combination with classroom learning, or not at all. Millions of adults around the world are illiterate
hindering their chances of finding a job and living in everyday life making the need for resources to
help them overcome it necessary. Before advanced technology came out the only viable way to teach
writing and reading to adults was in classrooms. Today there are more tools available that can enhance
an adult s ability to learn to read and write. The parts of the world that have the highest illiteracy are
South Asia and sub Saharan Africa places with little advanced technology making it harder to use it
for learning.

In our case, Microsoft developed a new operating system Windows Vista as the solution for the problems of Windows XP rather than developing patches and upgraded versions to provide solution. This has resulted in failure to recognize the actual problem which should occur during the problematization. When Windows XP was released in 2001, there were about 600 million computers used worldwide. Approximately 90% of them were running Windows but it was split between two code bases: Windows 95/98 (65%) and Windows NT/2000 (26%), according to IDC. One of the challenging task of Windows XP was to unite the Windows 9x and Windows NT code bases, and it eventually accomplished that. However in 2008, there were over 1.1 billion PCs in use worldwide and of which 70% (800 million PCs approximately) were running Windows XP which makes it the most widely installed operating system of all time. One of the goals of the Million Man March was to raise awareness for African Americans rights. The importance of the Million Man March was to show America and themselves that African Americans are able to come together on issues. The Million Man March showed people what America s workplace and marketplace would look like without the participation of African Americans; empty. The U.S. was built on the backs of the ancestors of hard working African Americans who collectively make significant contributions to America s earning and spending power. Otha Farley writes They served notice that no longer will African Americans, particularly African American males, view themselves as a powerless people, but as a force to be reckoned with. The image of unmotivated, irresponsible, politically apathetic people is no longer acceptable to these sons of slaves, who are, more accurately, sons of builders of this nation. • 4. The Progressive Era ( 1900-1919 ) The Progressive Era (1900 1919) presented solutions to the social, political, and economic changes in the United States of America which had surfaced in the framework of the rapid changes produced during the Industrial Revolution and the growth of modern capitalism in America. Many progressives believed that these changes marked the end of the old order and invited the beginning of a new era fit for the industrial age. Others believed that these changes marked a necessity for improvement rather than complete eradication. Regardless, American citizens utilized their ability to enrich social circumstances, both politically and morally, to guarantee social justice around 1865 1929. In a general sense, the conservative goals of this period substantiated the Liberal developments passed by Progressive leaders. Corresponding to the definition of conservatism, a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions, and preferring gradual development to abrupt change , the triumph of Conservatism existed in a sense that efforts were made to maintain established philosophies vital to an industrial social order. The Progressive leaders essentially wanted to perpetuate Liberal reform to bring upon general conservatism. Therefore, the 19th century can truly be defined by both the triumph of conservatism and the success of progressives. An array of accomplishments from the Progressive s battle were conservative in nature. The fight against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The individualistic approach would be appropriate for use with Jessica to address her personal behavior. • 6. gifted education and funding Essay How Lack Of Funding Effects Gifted Students In Ohio This year is a landmark year for Gifted Education in Ohio; for the last few years the number of gifted children in Ohio has been growing steadily. This year for the first time the percentage of children in Ohio that were identified as Gifted and Talented finally equaled the percentage of children who were served in Special Education Classrooms. There is only one small problem with this statement. The percentage is equal only if you count the students who are identified as being Talented and Gifted, not served. There are currently only 11% of all Talented and Gifted students being served in the State of Ohio. The Ohio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ohio now requires school district to test students to see how gifted they are, and to notify parents that there students are talented and gifted, but does not require that school districts do anything to enhance or accelerate that child s education. The state would never consider doing this to a child in special education, but it is well accepted in gifted education. The Ohio Department of Education beliefs that gifted children can make it on their own and do not need special services. This is not true, high percentages of students become underachieves and never attend college. Many are discipline problems, eventually dropout, and many commit suicide. Many gifted students who stand out in classrooms, are often used as a tutor for the other students. This only further excludes them from learning and makes them stand out to ridicule. The No Child Left Behind law is commonly referred to as the No Child Pushed Forward law in the gifted community. This is due to the fact the classrooms are required to assure that every child meets basic requirements, however once gifted children meet these requirements they are required to wait and practice a few more times while every catches up. This law has helped many slow learning students, but it has impeded many gifted students. Gifted Education while a section of Special Education is not required to fill out ... • 7. Energy And Other Natural Resources This paper uses the terms natural resource(s), resource(s), and reserve(s) in many different contexts. Please use care when interpreting their usage and context. Background This critical review will consider the claim by Bjorn Lomborg, that energy and other natural resources have become more abundant, not less so and offer evidence that supports his claim (Lomborg, 2001). It is important to make the distinction that Lomborg does not claim that reserves of natural resources have been increasing, he is merely stating that the overall global availability of energy and other resources have become more abundant. The amount of a natural resource that a region or deposit has is classified either as a reserve or as a resource. Reserves of natural resources are the volume of natural resource that is economically and commercially exploitable with available technology. Resources are the total volume of natural resources present in the system or region, but may not be exploitable with current technology or economic evaluations. Resources may turn into reserves and reserves may turn into resources, dependent upon current market prices. (Owen, Inderwildi King, 2010). Lomborg s claim relates directly to the issue of global sustainability. With a growing global population and an ever increasing demand for natural resources, the future of sustainability relies on our current consumption and management of natural resources. Non renewable resources must be properly inventoried ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. The Effects Of Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivation And... Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivation and Student Achievement Rosa Elena Garza Texas Tech University EPSY 5379 Abstract To examine the effects of rewards on intrinsic motivation for children in special education, a review of research was conducted. Students who are intrinsically motivated, tend to experience school success because they select challenging activities and spend more time on the task at hand. It can be very easy to undermine intrinsic motivation by using rewards. This change in motivation then results in more errors in the learning process as well as slower acquisition of skills. Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivation and Student Achievement Students with learning disabilities are often extremely unmotivated. To them, school tends to be one failure after another. This poor student achievement is usually due to an extreme lack of motivation. In attempts to overcome this lack of motivation, rewards are offered. Many of us have heard, If only they were more motivated, they would do so much better on test and get better grades when having conversations about these individuals. The effect that is intended for the reward is often mistaken and therefore it can have the opposite effect of what was originally intended. Children who lack intrinsic motivation will get the wrong idea from receiving rewards. Sometimes when rewards are used, the student will find ways to excel in the task more so then when the reward is not in place (Amabile and Gitmore, 1984). Students with ... Present value of 4 lease payments of $100,000 discounted at 20% (we eliminate the executory costs) $100,000 x 3.106 =$310,600 Present value of unguaranteed residual $80,000 x 0.482 = $38,560 $349,160 c) Schedule of Lease Receipts for the Lessor Note: Because the first receipt occurs immediately it is not discounted. The implicit rate is the rate that, when applied to the minimum lease payments plus unguaranteed residual, causes the sum of these present values to equal the fair value of the asset at lease inception. It is emphasised that unguaranteed residuals are not part of the minimum lease payments because the lessor is not required to make such payments. However, knowledge of the unguaranteed residual is necessary to determine the interest rate implicit in the lease. He had 3 different types of laws, family laws, property laws, and personal injury laws. These laws might seem just, but they are unjust. Family laws are laws related to family life. Family law 129 states, If a married lady is caught adultery with another man, they shall bind them and cast them into the water, (document c). Family law 195 claims that If a son has struck his father, his hands shall be cut off, (document c). Ultimately, language gives every one of us the power to effect change by using our knowledge and opinions to influence others and the way we see the world. This is what the politicians and the media in our society seek to do every day. The broader our knowledge of language and the subtleties of language in our different spheres (home, work, society and planet), the more broadly we can effect change. If a mark of affection can sometimes be taken for an insult, perhaps the gesture of love is not universal: it too must be translated from one language to another, must be learned.
