Foolology Ishmael Reed Summary
What is Ishmael Reed s message in Foolology In this article ¨Foolology¨ the author s message is
before you can spot the fool in others you must get rid of the fool in yourself. This is important
because the author is showing how you should spot the fool in yourself before you spot the fool in
others, and sometimes it is hard to find the biggest fool you or your friend that is a fool, you can tell a
fool by it s big mouth. In this article the authors message is important because in this article it explains
in lines 13 16 how after he eats, his friends eat. He is a fool and his friends are fools but it s not easy to
spot the biggest fool him or his friends. Another important part in this article is the ¨First Moral¨ line
25: Don t do business with people for whom April first is an important date they will use your bank
balance to buy eight thousand pies, tunics, ballet slippers with bells and a mail order lake in the
middle of the desert for splash parties. The author is explaining how you can get fooled and also what
happens when you get fooled, when he gets fooled they use your money to buy lots of things and just

Ishmael Reed quotes, ¨Before you can spot the fools in others you must rid yourself of the fool in you¨
( lines 30 32). I think this is a great moral because for the first moral it shows how he was a fool by
getting tricked and how he should ve spotted himself as the fool before the spotted the fool in the
others and because he didn t his outcome came to be that they took lots of money from his bank
account and fooled him. You can tell a fool by his big

What Are The Effects Of War In Lord Of The Flies
Mankind has destroyed a large amount its own species and much of the surrounding environment in a
very short space of time. Many novels throughout these past one hundred years explore the concept of
war and its effects on both the environment and civilisation, and also the kind of human nature that
has to come with doing so. William Golding s 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies, was written just after
World War II and Golding himself had witnessed first hand the man against man combat in WWII. He
has managed to demonstrate many different ideas within the novel, such as the darkness in human
nature through the boys slow decent into savagery, and also the human race s impact on nature and the
consequences that has. In this piece of literature, Golding

Operation Anaconda By Reviewing The Setting
Important battles in a war are the ones that not only define the campaign but also the men who take
part in them. An important battle often shapes the conditions for the rest of the war and enables future
success. The purpose of this paper is to provide a thorough battle analysis of Operation Anaconda by
reviewing the setting, describing the actions of friendly and enemy forces, and then assessing the
significance of those actions. Additionally, this paper will identify an alternate ending based on the use
of available intelligence assets. Had military intelligence effectively employed measures and
signatures intelligence assets and correctly analyzed the information those assets provided before the
start of Operation Anaconda, estimates of enemy composition, disposition, capabilities, and intentions
would have been known and could have drastically reduced the amount of casualties Coalition Forces
incurred. Second and third order effects of realizing this intelligence would have shattered the enemy s
ability to conduct major combat operations and set the conditions for stability operations to take place.
Operation Anaconda was a joint effort between elements of the 10th Mountain Division, 101st
Airborne Division, Special Operations Forces from multiple nations, and local Afghan fighters to
drive out al Qaeda and Taliban fighters from the Shahikot Valley in order to set the conditions for
successful stability operations in Afghanistan. The battle took place in late February

Habeas Corpus Case Study
This paper will highlight the Habeas Corpus, the war on terror and how the Bush administration
detained prisoners at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp (GITMO), a prison contained on a naval base
that was built on land leased from Cuba. These prisoners rights and civil liberties were violated, and
because they were detained in a facility beyond the jurisdiction of the U.S. constitution, the Bush
Administration has not been brought to justice. The Supreme Court should have been required to
protect the civil rights of the prisoners and the GITMO facility should have been dismantled. The writ
of habeas corpus has been referred to as the most celebrated writ in English law (Chemerisky, 2001).
The Suspension Clause of the U.S. Constitution (Article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For regular U.S. citizens, the government cannot detain a person without having a trial. The Military
Commission Act refused to allow the courts or any judge to have any jurisdiction, to consider or hear
the habeas corpus for the GITMO detainees as they were considered as enemy combatants. This is in
contrast to the Third Geneva Convention, which is relative to the treatment of prisoners of war. In
Boumediene v. Bush, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5 4 that any unlawful prisoner held at GITMO
would be given the right under the U.S. Constitution to demand release and to appeal for habeas
corpus before a U.S. district court. The Supreme Court also removed seven sections from the Military
Commissions Act, which restricts the jurisdiction and justice regarding the GITMO detainees. The
Supreme Court claimed that the Detainees Treatment Act failed to be considered as a substitute for the

Trials and Tribulations
The Great Depression was the perfect breeding ground for fear and chaos. The United States was
drastically impacted, and no one could escape its wrath! The Great Depression not only affected the
nation s economy and way of life, but it also had a huge impression on people s beliefs and attitudes.
Life was a daily struggle, and Americans had to adapt and cope during hard times. People feared the
unknown and had to be very resourceful. A landmark trial made headlines because riding the rails
became a popular means of transportation.
Americans were hit hard during the Great Depression which lasted from 1929 1939. The Great

Desperate times called for desperate measures! Over two million people went on the road to look for
work, and they became known as hobos. They wandered from town to town, and the fastest way to get
anywhere was to get on a train. Riding the rails became the transportation of choice because it was
free. However, it was illegal and very dangerous! Hobos would jump, leap, or hop onto a moving
freight train and take a ride for free in an open boxcar or on top. Every time a hobo jumped at a
moving train, he was taking his life into his hands (Morgan). Many lost their limbs or even their lives.
In addition, bulls, the railroad police, would beat or arrest hobos when they caught them riding the
rails or hanging around the yards. They were vicious! It is reported that over 50,000 either died or
were injured from 1929 1939 (Ganzel).
The hobo life was very difficult, and finding food and work was a daily struggle. Since they were
considered drifters or bums, they were not treated very nice. All they wanted was a better life. No
matter where they went, they could not escape the Great Depression. Since hobos had to catch a train
while it was moving, they waited on the outskirts of rail yards in what was known as jungles . They
were makeshift camps (Ganzel). Hobos even had their own code or symbols to help one another find
shelter, food and work (Morgan). Riding the rails became a popular way to travel and past time,

The Importance Of Choosing A University Or College
It is important to choose a university or college as early as possible because you will have a idea
where you want to go to be prepared after high school. It is important to know what you want to do
and what you want to do after high school as early to save the stress and have a mind set on what to
do. The steps to choosing a university or college is fairly simple you just have to consider your
options. There are 10 best steps to take but I have chosen the best 4 steps. One of the steps that I
thought was one of the best was according to Katy Hopskins Rank your priorities: List of Pros and
Con , you must consider the pros and cons of the university/college and decide your priorities. The
following step is Compare Financial Aid Packages which is to look at the different packages to make
it much more affordable and have to owe less after college and won t be stuck in debt. The third step is
Delve Into The Department and that is to look at what the college is great at and if that school excels
in what you re majoring or what you want to do if possible. The final step is Don t Procrastinate and
this step is self explanatory but this step is to dont procrastinate and dont wait until the last second to
do everything. Decide what you want to do because you won t be able to think as clear as if you had
thought about it a year ago and given you time to think about your options so its important to give
yourself time to think and do things.

Essay On Kenya s Education Vs American Education
Education is a word that is highly recognized in some parts of the world, and highly ignored in other
parts of the world. There is no true definition of the best education. Places around the world believe
they have the best education but that is because of their location. Location is a huge factor that comes
in when looking at education. Some places don t have the resources or people to provide good
education. Those places simply do the best they can. Outsiders looking in don t take into consideration
the lack of money a country has, the lack of resources, the lack of teachers, lack of buildings, and lack
of importance. Many poor countries view education as low rank because working and earning money
is of greater importance. Kenya, Africa is a country that struggles with education but tries their best.

When doing the research I was surprised to learn that the United States and Kenya were in close
relation. I was even more surprised that they had the main similarity of their education system yet so
many differences beyond that. It was hard for me to understand that Kenya was similar to the United
States but yet was ranked so low in the education world. After doing my research I see the reasons
why. Education is hard for wealthy countries and even harder for countries in poverty. Money, space,
resource, and teachers are a huge factor in determining the succession of the education world. It would
be hard for me to teach in Kenya due to the wealthy vs poor issues. I see students as humans I don t
look at them and assess their economic standings. However, I am truly surprised and impressed but
how much growth Kenya has. They have grown so much and changed their education world. Most
importantly, people in Kenya are trying. They may not have the best education system but they are

The Living Planet Index ( Lpi )
Over the course of history, many scientist experts have raised the fright and panic about population
numbers that only increase every year. According to the Living Planet Report, the Living Planet Index
(LPI), which measures more than 10,000 representative populations of mammals, birds, reptiles,
amphibians and fish, has declined by 52 per cent since 1970. Population sizes of different species in
the world has dropped by at least half. Some of these species are the living things that establishes the
fabric of the ecosystems which sustain life on Earth. In the following two centuries, the population
increased at an annual growth rate of 6 per 1,000, reaching 2.5 billion by 1950. In the following five
decades, it has more than doubled, at a growth rate of 18 per 1,000 to reach more than 6 billion in
2000. The world population will reach 8 billion to 10 billion by the year 2030 (Robbins, 130). Today,
we are using and taking so much from our ecosystems and natural processes, we are actually exposing
and exploiting our own very existence on Earth. Nature preservation and sustainable ecological
development complement each other. They are just as much about protecting the future of humanity
our well being, economy, food security, and social stability. Earth s population is approaching ten
billion at the same time that resource limits and environmental deprivation are becoming more
apparent every day. Rich countries have long guaranteed poor nations that they, too, would

Eye Anatomy Poster
Eye Anatomy Posters Explaining Our Body s Cameras
By Stephen Lamb
Oct 4, 2009
The human eye is nature s version of a camera, yet so much more complex than a camera that all its
functions require years of study to understand. For example, within the layers of the retina
immediately behind the lens, light impulses are converted into electrical signals which proceed
through the optic nerve to the occipital cortex at the back of the brain, where they are translated .
Healthy eyes see in 20/20 vision. That is, standing 20 feet away from an eye chart a series of symbols,
or images, printed on a page people with 20/20 vision can see everything a normal eye can see, normal
being based on the average visual acuity of a majority of the population. ... Show more content on

Defects in the shape of the lens, or inadequate filling of the vitreous humor, can result in inadequate
vision. Age and disease also play their part in reducing human vision. Thus, perfect vision at birth may
require correction as early as grade school, and will almost certainly require correction by the age of
retirement.
Ophthalmologists, or eye doctors, can help patients understand the need for corrective lenses or
surgery by using an Eye Anatomy Poster, whose central figure is a cut away view of the right eye
which depicts everything from the rods and cones (specialized structures in the eye the retina uses to
process light) to more esoteric items like the canal of Schlemm or scleral venous sinus, a circular
channel that collects fluid from the anterior chamber and sends it to the bloodstream.
With its diagram of the visible light spectrum, and a dissection of the structures of the eyeball, this
detailed chart makes it easier to see how the sight of a flower, for example, passes through the retina
to the optic nerve and is interpreted by the brain for our enjoyment, edification and

Child Sexual Abuse Essay
Child Sexual Abuse
Sexual abuse to a child at times is confusing to the family. Families who are affected by sexual abuse
to a child tend to have a difficult time talking about the abuse. About one out of every four girls and
one out of every five boys are sexually abused by the time they are 18 years old. Sexual abuse to
children happens across every socioeconomic status, ethnic, cultural, religion and education. Getting
treatment for a victim of child sexual abuse is a difficult process because of the lack of trust by the
child. When child sexual abuse occurs the victim s family has a difficult time talking about the abuse,
which leads to the family pretending the abuse never happened. Once the family ... Show more

Children are the most vulnerable to sexual abuse, and there are risk factors to consider that would
make one child more of a target compared to another child. The three risk factors that are related to
sexual abuse are: 1) the age of the child, 2) socioeconomic status and 3) how well the child knows
his/her abuser. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming fact is how
many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the sexual
abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Children between the ages of three to five
years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a victim of sexual abuse. Children need to
have supervision at all times, especially during times like changing clothes and bathing. If
unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk
factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child isn t getting any attention from
the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child
things that the family can t buy for the child, listening to the child s problems and gain their trust. The
level of education plays a role, if the child is raised by a single parent and/or if the parents have
marital problems. Once trust is established this is when the perpetrator will sexually abuse a child.
Lastly, the final part is how well the

imperative in the industry. This study evaluates the response of Nigerian banks to this new trend and
examines the extent to which they have adopted innovative technologies in their operations and the
resultant effects. Information and Communication Technology Information Technology (IT) is the
automation of processes, controls, and information production using computers, telecommunications,
software and ancillary equipment such as automated teller machine and debit cards. It is a term that
generally covers the harnessing of electronic technology for the information needs of a business at all
levels. Communication is the conveyance or transmission of information from one point to another
through a medium. An example of how ICT has had an impact on the Banking Industry is that its
emergence allows banks to apply credit scoring techniques to consumer credits, mortgages or credit
cards. Hence, products that used to be highly dependent on the banks´ evaluation of its customers have
now become more standardized. Other examples of ICT impact on the Banking Industry include the
increased process efficiency, which can reduce costs in banks, and the branch renewal, where focus is
gradually shifting away from traditional brick and mortar banks towards the dual bank concept

To What Extent Did The Europeans Dominate African Nations
What urged the Europeans to dominate African nations? Before the 19th century, Europeans feared
entering Africa due to disease, such as malaria, until they invented a cure in 1820. Improved
technology allowed them to venture into the country and investigate. An abundant of factors promoted
the extensive endeavor. Politics, cultural attitudes, and economics drove the European forces to invade
Africa.
In the world of politics, it was a crucially intense race for the control of African nations between
European countries. In the Berlin conference, each country was ambitious to authorize as much
territory as possible. Therefore this spiked the cause of fierce competition over areas. In the map

Positive And Negative Consequences Of Repealing The Jones Act
Cost Analysis:
I firmly believe, repealing the jones act would certainly make American economy prosperous. In this
section I will bolster my opinion by analyzing some positive and negative consequences of repealing
the act in terms of cost, economic impact, and national safety.
Positive Consequences of repealing Jones act:
Repealing the Jones Act could benefit the American economy, as it is cheaper to build ships outside
USA and hiring foreign crew
Building ships in America is certainly costly affair. It could cost five times more than the ship built
outside USA due high labor rates. Thus, repealing the jones act, means American companies can
lookout for cheaper options and buy vessels made in foreign countries at cheaper rates.
Wages for foreign crews are substantially lower than American crews. American crews cost nearly 4.5
times more than foreign crews. These wages make up nearly 75 percent of the operating cost
difference between the two. If foreign shippers were permitted to enter the U.S. market, American
companies would be forced to compete, and lower both their wages and prices to more reasonable
levels.
Cost of living would be significantly cheaper in states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico
Currently people from states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico have to spend a lot of money to get
goods due to higher freight transportation rates imposed by the Jones act. For example, it costs about
$750 to ship a 45 foot container from Los Angeles to Shanghai, but it costs $8,500 to ship the same
container from Los Angeles to Honolulu. This means that it costs 11 times more money to ship
something to some domestic locations than international ones. Thus, repealing jones act, the cost of
living in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico would decrease greatly as residents would not have to spend as
much money to get goods, from mainland America or from a foreign nation.
Economic boost for American Industries
Relaxing the Jones Act would lead to an economic boost for many industries across the nation, and
provide more goods at lower prices for American consumers. However, many Americans re simply
unaware of the impact that the extra shipping costs of the Jones Act has on their lives, and therefore
efforts to

Reflection On Atonement
The English word Atonement is derived from the two words at onement and denotes a state of
togetherness and agreement between two people. Atonement presupposes two parties that are
estranged, with the act of atonement being the reconciliation of them in a state of harmony. The
theological meaning is the reconciliation between God and His fallen creation, especially between
God and sinful human beings. The centrality of the atonement to Christianity has influenced our
language, giving us the word crucial which means literally pertaining to a cross. When we say that
anything is crucial we are saying that it is as central to that to which we apply it as the cross is to
Christianity. What Christ did on the cross is the heart of the Christian Faith . Professor Kwesi Dickson,
making a careful exegesis of Paul s teaching on the meaning of the cross and looking briefly at what
he regards as inadequacies in modern views of this event identifies the contribution of African culture
towards our understanding of the atonement. In contrast to the European, The African regards death in
a positive way, as the fulfilment of the earthly life and as the gateway to ancestorhood. African
thought can thus throw light on the meaning of the death of Jesus Christ. The Atonement may be seen
as strengthening the community, through Christ the ever living and perfect ancestor. Just as Paul s
understanding of the cross was expressed in the language of his Jewish background, so now the gospel

The Theory Of Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory
Albert Bandura is one of the most influential psychologist in history, best known for his famous Bobo
Doll Experiment. From this experiment, Bandura developed his Social Learning Theory, the theory
that we learn from one another through observation.
To prove his theory, Bandura used children to see if they would imitate a modal who showed
aggressive behavior toward a Bobo doll. The subjects were 36 boys and 36 girls from the Stanford
University s Nursery School aged between 3 and 6 years old. The models were two adults, male and
female. Aggressive behavior was shown to 24 children, non aggressive behavior was shown to 24
children and 24 children served as the control group. For the first step of the experiment, a child and a
model were brought into a room containing toys. The child was escorted to a corner that had potato
prints and stickers while the model was escorted to a corner that had a tinker toy set, a mallet and a 5
foot inflated Bobo doll. For subjects that were in the aggressive condition, the model began aggressing
toward the doll after a minute. The model performed distinct aggressive acts that Bandura was looking
for the child to imitate. The model laid the doll on its side, sat on it and punched it repeatedly in the
nose and then raised the doll, picked up the mallet and struck it on the head. Following the mallet
aggression, the model tossed the doll up in the air and kicked it around the room. These aggressive
acts were repeated three times, interspersed

Fancy things I suppose. I wish I knew some fancy things alredy (Keyes 225 226). From the text, I can

All you need is bravery and determination. The theme from The Giver and the the theme from Flowers
for Algernon can have an impact on anyone s life but mostly teens. For kids and teens all around the
world, fitting in is one of the hardest things to do. People think that they need to change themselves to
fit in. Girls think they need to wear makeup to look pretty. Guys think they need to be masculine.
Everyone around the world is pressured by society to be someone they re not. Lots of people say that
society has killed the teenager . To me that quote means that society gives us these certain images that
we are supposed to strive for. For example, skinny, tall, perfect teeth, no acne, etc. As teens we are at
the age of wanting to fit in and be better but society is ruining how we view ourselves and the ways
we think. Also another thing is to just be yourself. If you be yourself, the right people will come to
you. For example, let s say someone starts to wear makeup because her friends are wearing it, or
someone said that she was ugly without it. She ll start to become a person she doesn t want to be. She
ll start to become influenced by her friends and the people around her. Then she ll stop wearing it one
day and then she ll continue to stop wearing it for a while. She might get hatred, compliments on her
natural beauty, or her friends won t even care. See what she did? She stopped pretending to be a
character in a movie, and started being herself. All she needed was bravery and determination. As you
can see, the themes in Flowers For Algernon and in The Giver relate to the real life we are facing
today. If personally myself could say something to kids and teens, I would say to just be yourself and
don t change who you are. The right people will come to you if you are brave and

Depression And Dementi Depression
Several studies have shown links between depression and dementia. Brommelhoff, Johansson,
Fratiglioni, Gatz, McArdle, Pederson state, there are three hypotheses that might explain the
association (Jorm, 2001). The first is that depression is a symptom that indicates the onset of
dementia, also known as a prodromal feature. The second is that the two are independent illnesses;
however, depression causes cognitive deficits, which lead to an earlier onset of dementia. The last
argues that depression causes damage in the hippocampus, which then leads to dementia. Some
studies have found depression to be a prodrome of dementia. One specifically found that depression
arises due to neuropathological damages during the course of dementia, and another showed that
people with late onset depression had greater frontal lobe atrophy than controls and those with early
onset depression. On the other hand, it has been shown that a history of depression increases the risk
of dementia later in life. There is some evidence that the earlier the onset of depression, the greater the
likelihood is of developing dementia later; however, this only held true in individuals with little
education. The disagreement and contradiction in previous studies call for further experimentation,
primarily to determine whether a history of depression significantly predicted the likelihood of having
dementia later in life (Brommelhoff et al., 2009). Researchers examined the difference in the number
of years

Cultural Norms And Expectations In Dead Poet s Society
Critically acclaimed by the San Francisco Chronicle as absolutely marvelous affirmation of
independent spirit, Dead Poets Society follows a group of teenage boys in a New England preparatory
school setting. Robin Williams stars as a poetry professor, whose unorthodox teaching style urges his
students to discover and reach their own self actualization through understanding poetry. While this
film culture may seem to be an inaccurate representation of the majority of the population, themes of
Social Psychology successfully portray how people interact everyday. Examples such as minority
influence, how a person can influence a situation and vice versa, and the need to be individual often
proceed unnoticed in our everyday life, despite being prevalent quite frequently in our daily
interactions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

scorn Williams for breaking the culture of the school. Because this is a preparatory school, as opposed
to a public school, the situational strength to conform to the norm is quite high, but Williams does not
conform to a simplistic teaching style. Self actualization is reached by specific characters who follow
Williams character of a charismatic leader, who later rebel against the majority of the culture and seize

Observing Physical Evidence
The procedure should accomplish that each type of physical evidence, whether an intact object, pieces
of an object, blood, glass, liquids, or gasses, must be collected, marked or tagged, packaged,
transported, and stored properly to be later admitted in to evidence in court. The maintaining proper
chain of custody is particularly important when the object is one that is not unique or when questions
could be raised about changes in the condition of the object, unique or not. Upon arrival at a crime
scene, the officer should first quickly determine if anyone is injured or needs medical treatment and, if
so, summon the health professionals. Then the officer should survey the crime scene, quickly
determine whom to interview, and move nonessential individuals out of the area. The crime scene area
should be cordoned off or otherwise closed to nonessential individuals.
The identification tag should contain the case number, the name of the defendant, the name of the
victim, the name of the law enforcement professional who found the object; the date, time, and place
where the object was found; a brief description of the article (this is important in case the tag becomes
detached from the item because some objects cannot be recognized from appearance alone), the

Soapstone is a soft material that is easy to be carved. However the stone breaks very easily due to this
soft nature, This week we are learning how to carve soapstone pendants and jewelry, and we have

Inuit culture has done with this type of stone.
The Inuit peoples often use this as a sort of way to connect with their past and keep it in their future.
The art often connects to the stories and culture of the Inuit people, such as carvings of spirit birds and

Professionalism, Integrity, Honesty, And Professionalism
Introduction/Purpose/Objective Professionalism in nursing provides an important framework for the
continual development and advancement in the nursing profession. As healthcare providers, nurses are
held to high standards of practice for providing safe, effective, evidence based care to clients. As the
healthcare system continuously advances, the level of professionalism becomes crucially imperative to
nurses and other professionals. Throughout the years nursing has continuously been regarded as one of
the most trusted professions. As a result of this significant rating, it s important for nurses to maintain
integrity and honesty while upholding the core values of their respective institutions to provide safe
and effective patient centered care (Olshansky, 2011, p. 193). As healthcare professionals, nurses must
strive to incorporate humanistic qualities such as integrity, honesty and compassion into their
respective field of practice. When nurses exhibit a sense of openness and trust into their patient care,
clients can have a sense of assurance that they re in safe hands, gaining the client s trust paves the way
for the client to trust their nurse as an advocate who has their best interest. Nurses act as advocates for
their clients, and therefore, have a responsibility to voice their concerns when it comes to providing
quality care to their clients. Patient advocacy stems from the fact that they may need extra support in
order to secure their choices for

King Louis XIV, The King Of France
King Louis XIV was the king of France from 1638 to 1715, he reigned longer than any other
European monarch. King Louis XIV was one of the most powerful absolute monarchs in the history of
Europe. He was thought of as the quintessence of what an absolute monarch should be. Throughout
this paper, I will discuss the many important aspects of King Louis s reign and some of the influential
things he did and their effects on society at the time. One way he achieved his absolute power was
through the divine right of kings. The Divine right of kings is defined as the doctrine that the right of
rule derives directly from God, not from the consent of the people. King Louis XIV used the fact that
people couldn t deny any of his privileges because if they did it would be like they were denying God
himself to his advantage. Jean Domat, a French jurist, wrote in his publication on Social Order and
Absolute Monarchy , Since government is necessary for the public good, and God Himself has
established it, it is consequently also necessary for those who are subject to government, to be
submissive and obedient. For otherwise they would resist God Himself, and government, which
should be the bond of peace and unity that brings about the public good, would become an occasion
for divisions and disturbances that would cause its downfall. Jean Domat wrote mostly of royal
absolutism; King Louis XIV regarded his work very highly. This evidence proves that during this
time, many believed that if

Explain The Extent Of Normal Hair Growth
The extent of normal hair growth differs between people, families, and races. It is somewhat extensive
in the Mediterranean and some Asian subcontinent populations. Too much facial or body hair growth
in a woman is known as hirsutism. There is no absolute margin between the normal hair growth and
hirsutism. Usually, sex hormones affect the hair growth in the moustache, beard, breast, chest, armpit,
the midline of the abdomen, genital area, and the thighs. A type of soft hair (vellus hair), which is
normally present all over the body, is not affected by the sex hormones. If a woman has excess hair
growth over the regions, which contain the sex hormone dependent hair, it shows increased male
hormone (androgen) production in the ovaries and adrenal glands. This process commonly occurs due
to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) but occasionally other rarer conditions. Other conditions
include an abnormal growth of adrenal glands (congenital adrenal hyperplasia), Cushing s syndrome,
and tumours of the ovary and the adrenal gland.
Androgens are normally known as male hormones. However, both males and females produce
androgens. Men produce androgens in larger amounts compared to women. There are few male
hormones, of which testosterone is the well known one. Hirsutism can occur due to increased levels of
androgens or raised sensitivity of the hair follicles to normal male hormone levels.
A few women with hirsutism produce excessive androgens. Sometimes, this is because of a medical

Diversity In DC Comics
Diversity in Comics Over the years, comic books have reflected what has been happening in the world
around us. Hot topics and issues have taken place in these fantasy worlds. They have been used as
propaganda. For example, during the second world war, people could read about their favorite heroes
fighting and eventually defeating Hitler and the Nazis, therefore saving the world. During the cold
war, they fought the Soviets. Comics have brought a light to heavy topics that are hard to talk about.
In nineteen seventy one, DC Comics released a two part comic called Snowbirds Don t Fly. It revealed

This can be seen with beauty standards and stereotypes. This also applies to what s common. Often
you will hear people complain about there being too many gay characters in media, this can also be
applied to minority characters. The reality is that people are just not accustomed to this diversity in
media. Another issue is that people who are in these minorities aren t getting represented so they are
led to believe that their struggles are unique. This can be harmful and lead to a multitude of issues.
Representation is important. Comic books are a type of media and minorities should be represented.
As said earlier, comic books reflect life. So why should it not reflect the diversity of everyday life.
One of the common arguments you will hear is that changing characters and adding diversity drives
fans away. The only fans it honestly will ever drive away are old fans holding onto old stereotypes.
What drives away fans is bad writing. So in the end the only ones who don t want change in comics ar
the people who don t want change in the world. The reality is that the world is changing and so should
the media. The sooner we realize this the sooner we can accept

Social Cost Benefit Analysis
INTRODUCTION
What is Social Cost Benefit Analysis?
Cost benefit analysis is a process for evaluating the merits of a particular project or course of action in
a systematic and rigorous way. Social cost benefit analysis refers to cases where the project has a
broad impact across society {and, as such, is usually carried out by the government. While the cost
and benefits may relate to goods and services that have a simple and transparent measure in a
convenient unit (e.g. their price in money), this is frequently not so, especially in the social case. It
should therefore be emphasized that the costs and benefits considered by (social) `cost benefit analysis
are not limited to easily quantifiable changes in material ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tourism has an educational significance. In the wider sense it has the altogether beneficial effect
which contact between people of different races and nationalities can bring about. In a narrow sense
much tourist activity takes the form of study trips and attendance at courses and conferences with
specified educational aims in view.
Tourism is often accompanied by cultural exchange and by cultural enrichment of those who travel as
well as those at the receiving end. The cultural factors that may attract tourists to a particular
destination are architecture, historical monuments and birthplaces of famous people. These are some
of the places most visited by the tourists. Festivals and exhibition rely heavily to visitor traffic as their
audience.
Tourism can be classified into:
a. Tourists visit places for recreational purposes. Such tourists spots are usually hill stations, beaches

Kahlo began to paint in while she was recuperating from the devastating accident she faced when she
was merely eighteen years old that would change her life forever. The accident occurred when a
trolley crashed in to the small wooden bus she was riding in. The accident which nearly killed her, left
Kahlo partially invalid which including three broken places to her spinal column, a broken collarbone,
two broken ribs, three broken places to her pelvis, eleven fractures in her right leg, a crushed and
dislocated right foot, and a dislocated shoulder. A steal rod also impaled her in the uterus exiting
through her vagina leaving her unable to bear children. Due to this event Kahlo stated, I lost my
virginity (Herrera, 49). Herrera explains that many of Kahlo s supporters view her tragic accident as if
it were Kahlo s destiny. Kahlo was destined to endure a long life of pain and anguish in order to create
the unusual, morbidly unique works of art. Kahlo was compelled to wear a full cast that cover a third
of her body; wrapping from her chest down to her feet. Her painting started on her body cast which
began her journey through the world of art. She abandoned her studies of medicine because of her
immobilization and gave up her medical career to fulfill her career as a painter instead. Kahlo s first
greatest paintings begin during this time, My Grandparents, My Parents and I (1936).

A Research On Biometrics And Wireless Technique
Abstract The main purpose of the paper is assembling and developing an iris recognition system in
order to verify uniqueness of the human eye of faculty in a college for attendance management
system. This system based on biometrics and wireless technique solves the problem of spurious
attendance and the trouble of laying the corresponding network. Here biometric recognition is
performed with respect to iris because of its unique biological properties. The iris is unaffected by
external environmental factors and remains stable over time. It can make the college staff attendance
management more easy and effective. This paper includes image acquisition, the preprocessing
system, segmentation, feature extraction and recognition.
Keywords Iris recognition; preprocessing system; segmentation; feature extraction.
I. INTRODUCTION
Traditionally college staff attendance management methods were based on physical key, ID card,
password, etc. In all the above mentioned methods there are high chances of keys getting lost, forgery
or passwords may be forgotten. Due to these shortcomings and requirement for high level of security
have led to development of personal identification on next level using biometrics. Biometrics refers to
metrics related to human characteristics. It is used to identify individuals in a group that ae under
surveillance. Within few seconds biometric recognition is able to compare thousands of records.

Regarding to the essay question Is Hell exothermic or endothermic, though the answer that the student

First, the question itself was based on the premise that Hell does exist, which we know most of the
scientists do not agree, as well as the existence of Heaven and God/gods. And since Hell is not to be
found in a place where we can probe, and no one has ever been there and came back, nobody can tell

Both believe that child develops their sense of trust at this stage.
Next, Freud called the anal stage of development, and Erikson called this stage as autonomy versus
shame and doubt. Children at this stage develop their sense of independence and toilet training is an
important focus of this independence. Erikson believes that learning to control one s body leads to a
feeling of control and a sense of independence. Freud says the success of the stage is based on the how
caregivers successfully manage.
As in the ages three to six Freud called this stage as the phallic stage and the Erikson called initiative

girls are influenced by their fathers and children identify with same sex parent. During this stage

Erik the Red was a Norwegian Viking that was born in the 10th Century C.E, and his life contributed
significantly to the outstanding legacy of the Vikings through his explorations. It is through the
discovery of Greenland and its later settlement that cast Erik the Red s legendary adventures into
folklore. These two events are how Erik the Red played his role in Viking history, not through warfare,
but through explorations. The adventures undertaken, and the feats achieved by Erik the Red cement
his place in Viking History.
In 982 C.E, Erik the Red sailed west from Iceland after being banished for murder, discovering a new
land which he named Greenland. After exploring the newly discovered land for two years, naming
many fjords after himself

Masaccio And Annunciation
The Tribute Money by Masaccio and Annunciation by Leonardo Da Vinci are classic pieces that
possess traditional Florentine influences while also expanding new innovative techniques and
approaches that produce a different aesthetic and emotional response from its viewers. Tribute Money
depicts 3 scenes, all of which involve Jesus. Centered in the painting is a tax collector asking the
disciple Peter to pay the temple tax. To the left Jesus orders Peter to drop a hook in the sea to catch a
fish. In the fish s mouth is a coin that Peter proceeds to give to the tax collector on the right side of the
painting. The purpose was to depict the righteousness of paying tribute to tax collectors who were
often also agents of the church. Annunciation depicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a time in which art, culture, and science were embraced and progress sought was pursued.
While progressive values were accepted, this did not mean traditional institutions such as the Roman
Catholic Church did not maintain its influence on society. Religion and politics were often intertwined
and ultimately influenced the works of many artists. The Church used arts as a form of communicating
messages, propaganda and was able to obtain power by doing so. Many of Leonardo s works are the
product of projects commissioned by churches and political leaders, which is the source of the
religious themes of many of his paintings. The Medici Family, which was the family in power during
this time, had a particularly strong alliance with the pope and Catholic Church. They served as bankers
and accountants to the Church. During the mid 1420s, the second phase of the war between Florence
and Milan occurred in which imposition of a new tax reform became imperative as the Medici looked
for a way to finance the battle. The Medici did not view this imposition as a violation of religious
authority. Additionally, the Medici was challenged again in 1472 as the pope and king of Naples
aimed to free Florence from Medici s oppression. Da Vinci s work could be interpreted as a symbol of
hope and liberation, as Gabriel visits the Virgin Mary from heaven, with news that she will conceive a
holy child. This demonstrates the intermingling of religion and politics, which is very much aligned
with the depiction we see in The Tribute Money and Annunciation. The depictions of divine moments
captured through the medium of great Renaissance art is clearly influenced by the role of the Church
at the time, and the paintings allow the viewer to enjoy the work but also reconsolidate their Christian

The Price Unlimited Corporation Has Invented The Engine Of...
The Futures Unlimited Corporation has invented the engine of rocket car. As the inventor, the
company currently has a patent on this specific product. Only this firm has the exclusive right to
control and distribute the quantity of this certain isotope of plutonium on the market. Therefore it is
enjoying a monopoly and will maximize its profit. The profit maximizing behavior of a monopolist is
explained below:
Profit (π) = Total Revenue (TR) Total Cost (TC) = P×Q TC
According to the FOC of profit maximization, we get dπ/dQ = (d(TR))/dQ (d(TC))/dQ [Here P is not
fixed]
= MR MC = 0
Therefore MR = MC As a result, a monopolist sets a price where its MR is equal to its MC. From the
above figure, we can determine that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A monopolist can also perform price discrimination. When different prices are charged by a seller for
essentially the same product it is known as price discrimination. The monopolist often wants to
segment the market according to the price elasticity of demand (e) and charge higher prices for those
consumers with lower elasticity of demand, according to the mark up formula. Therefore Futures
Unlimited Corporation can also discriminate its price. Direct price discrimination can again be sub
divided into three categories first degree price discrimination, second degree price discrimination, and
third degree price discrimination. With first degree price discrimination, every firm would like to
charge a different price to each of its customers. If possible, the firm would charge each consumer the
maximum price that consumer is willing to pay for each unit bought. The maximum price the
consumers are willing to pay is known as the customer s reservation price. The act of charging each
customer his or her reservation price is called first degree price discrimination or perfect price
discrimination. In second degree price discrimination, price varies in according to quantity demanded.
Within some markets, each consumer purchases many units of the good over any given period, and the
consumer s demand declines with the number of units purchased. In this situation, a firm can
discriminate according to the number consumed. This is

Essay About Mermaids
Big foot and monsters are mythical beasts that have always been seen as fairy tales. No one ever
knows whether these legends exist or not. However some of the ancient legends might be truer than
we believe. Mermaids are one of the legends that caught world s attention for ages. A mermaid is said
as a creature that is half human and half fish; they have lower body of a fish and the upper body of a
normal human. According to the legend, mermaids are considered beautiful creatures and have
attractive looks, blind by the good looks they overcome the scales and fish tail which someone would
find repulsive. The word mermaid brings the meaning of mer ; the sea as in the ancient English, and
maid as the meaning of female. The big question here is do mermaids really exist or is it just a never
ending myths? In this essay, you will know about the sighting reports about mermaid from many
resources, and the reasons why mermaid cannot exist in this world. ... Show more content on

According to them, it was the merman, Oannes, which rise every day from the water and gave man
knowledge, reasoning and brought writing, wisdom, science and other such civilization institutions. It
was said that Oannes has been helping the Mesopotamian by advanced their development and helped
man in technology.
The second sighting report was back in 1493, sailing off the coast of Hispaniola a town of fishermen,
Christopher Columbus reported seeing the female forms which are believed as a mermaid, when he
was exploring at the island. However, it stated that the mermaid was not as beautiful as they are
represented. The sighting were often recounted and shared by sailors and pirates who believed that
mermaids brought bad luck. Mermaids were said to have an enchanting voices that would lure and
would bewitch them into giving up their gold and dragging them to the bottom of the

Genetically Engineered Crops Essays
Genetically Engineered Crops
Chemical and seed companies have been working the last several years to alter the genetic make up of
certain crops to combat heavy pressure from insects and weeds. Through genetic manipulation plant
breeders have been able to make certain crops resistant to different types of chemicals and insects.
Breeders can alter the crops by adding to a specific plant one or more genes from other related crops
with a known resistance to an insect or herbicide The use of genetically engineered crops has become
a hotly debated topic over the last couple of years. Environmentalists are concerned with how these
new crops will affect the environment. Farmers want to know how these crops will help them to

Roundup works by inhibiting enzymes essential to plant growth. By increasing the enzymes produced
in plants, the plant is unaffected by the herbicide (Monsanto Crossroads). With the insertion of the
Roundup resistant and Bt genes, the negative environmental impacts from agriculture can be reduced.
One way environmental damage can be reduced is by decreasing pesticide use. According to
Monsanto, Bollgard cotton, a variety resistant to bollworms, was used in 13% of the total cotton crop
in 1996. Sixty percent of those growers used no insecticide, most others only used one application.
This is compared to an average of 4 to 6 applications. The reduced applications saved a quarter million
gallons of insecticide. Monsanto has also developed potatoes with resistance to the Colorado potato
beetle. Farmers using this new variety reported eliminating 1 5 insecticide applications. The total
reduction in applications of insecticides was between 33% 42% over conventional methods (Biotech
Benefits).
By inserting the Bt gene into the plant cell, only the insects that are damaging the crop are killed.
Conversely, when the Bt gene is used in a pesticide spray many more insects that may have been
beneficial to the crop are killed (ESA Position Statement). By having insect resistance built in, farmers
can eliminate costly trips across the field needed to spray insecticides. Much like Bt corn,

Frodo Baggins As A Christ-Figure
J. R. R. Tolkien s The Lord of the Rings Frodo Baggins as a Christ Figure
J. R. R. Tolkien s The Lord of the Rings has delighted readers since its publication owing to its author
s skillful development of his fantastic realm and its inhabitants adventures therein. In fact, Tolkien is
rightly regarded as the father of the modern fantasy genre, and it often seems all fantasy imitates his
work in some way. However, as readers return to the work, it often becomes apparent that the work is
more than a simple escapist journey into an imaginary world; the work represents the finest traditions
in literature and rich grounding in Tolkien s study of language and mythology. Equally surprising,
though, Tolkien himself admits that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The similarities grow overt later when turning 33, Jesus age on the Cross, Frodo sets out upon a
journey which tests the limits of his endurance and the outcome of which spells the equivalent of
saving the world. The last leg of that journey emphasizes the hardships of the protagonist and his
young servant, Sam, as they struggle with practically no provisions across a barren wasteland carrying
a small golden ring, the magical power of which bears so heavily upon Frodo s mind as to drive him to
near insanity. The last stage of their journey to Orodruin came, and it was a torment greater than Sam
had ever thought he could bear. [4] Voluntarily accepting so great a task, certainly Frodo suffers on
behalf of a people (all good peoples, in fact) with no hope of gratitude or even of surviving the
venture. In fact, as Frodo and Sam stagger to their journey s end totally convinced that the completion
of their task will signal the end of their lives, they parallel Jesus who understood that the completion
of his ministry would end on the cross to the jeers of the very people to whom he gave everything. In
acting for the corporate good, Frodo even suffers death and new life, in symbolic terms at least. After
being attacked in the end of the second installment, Frodo is left for dead by Sam who fails to find a
pulse or any other physical signs of life. Only later does Sam learn that the illusion of death is merely
a symptom of the venomous attack of their foe.

In this article the authors message is important because in this article it explains in lines 13 16 how after he eats, his friends eat. He is a fool and his friends are fools but it s not easy to spot the biggest fool him or his friends. Many novels throughout these past one hundred years explore the concept of war and its effects on both the environment and civilisation, and also the kind of human nature that has to come with doing so. William Golding s 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies, was written just after World War II and Golding himself had witnessed first hand the man against man combat in WWII. He has managed to demonstrate many different ideas within the novel, such as the darkness in human nature through the boys slow decent into savagery, and also the human race s impact on nature and the consequences that has. • 4. Operation Anaconda By Reviewing The Setting Important battles in a war are the ones that not only define the campaign but also the men who take part in them. An important battle often shapes the conditions for the rest of the war and enables future success. The purpose of this paper is to provide a thorough battle analysis of Operation Anaconda by reviewing the setting, describing the actions of friendly and enemy forces, and then assessing the significance of those actions. Additionally, this paper will identify an alternate ending based on the use of available intelligence assets. Had military intelligence effectively employed measures and signatures intelligence assets and correctly analyzed the information those assets provided before the start of Operation Anaconda, estimates of enemy composition, disposition, capabilities, and intentions would have been known and could have drastically reduced the amount of casualties Coalition Forces incurred. Second and third order effects of realizing this intelligence would have shattered the enemy s ability to conduct major combat operations and set the conditions for stability operations to take place. Operation Anaconda was a joint effort between elements of the 10th Mountain Division, 101st Airborne Division, Special Operations Forces from multiple nations, and local Afghan fighters to drive out al Qaeda and Taliban fighters from the Shahikot Valley in order to set the conditions for successful stability operations in Afghanistan. • 5. Habeas Corpus Case Study This paper will highlight the Habeas Corpus, the war on terror and how the Bush administration detained prisoners at Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp (GITMO), a prison contained on a naval base that was built on land leased from Cuba. These prisoners rights and civil liberties were violated, and because they were detained in a facility beyond the jurisdiction of the U.S. constitution, the Bush Administration has not been brought to justice. The Supreme Court should have been required to protect the civil rights of the prisoners and the GITMO facility should have been dismantled. The writ of habeas corpus has been referred to as the most celebrated writ in English law (Chemerisky, 2001). The Suspension Clause of the U.S. Constitution (Article ... The Military Commission Act refused to allow the courts or any judge to have any jurisdiction, to consider or hear the habeas corpus for the GITMO detainees as they were considered as enemy combatants. This is in contrast to the Third Geneva Convention, which is relative to the treatment of prisoners of war. In Boumediene v. Bush, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5 4 that any unlawful prisoner held at GITMO would be given the right under the U.S. Constitution to demand release and to appeal for habeas corpus before a U.S. district court. The United States was drastically impacted, and no one could escape its wrath! The Great Depression not only affected the nation s economy and way of life, but it also had a huge impression on people s beliefs and attitudes. Life was a daily struggle, and Americans had to adapt and cope during hard times. People feared the unknown and had to be very resourceful. A landmark trial made headlines because riding the rails became a popular means of transportation. Americans were hit hard during the Great Depression which lasted from 1929 1939. The Great Depression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Desperate times called for desperate measures! Over two million people went on the road to look for work, and they became known as hobos. They wandered from town to town, and the fastest way to get anywhere was to get on a train. Riding the rails became the transportation of choice because it was free. However, it was illegal and very dangerous! Hobos would jump, leap, or hop onto a moving freight train and take a ride for free in an open boxcar or on top. Every time a hobo jumped at a moving train, he was taking his life into his hands (Morgan). Many lost their limbs or even their lives. In addition, bulls, the railroad police, would beat or arrest hobos when they caught them riding the rails or hanging around the yards. They were vicious! It is reported that over 50,000 either died or were injured from 1929 1939 (Ganzel). The hobo life was very difficult, and finding food and work was a daily struggle. Since they were considered drifters or bums, they were not treated very nice. All they wanted was a better life. No matter where they went, they could not escape the Great Depression. Since hobos had to catch a train while it was moving, they waited on the outskirts of rail yards in what was known as jungles . They were makeshift camps (Ganzel). Hobos even had their own code or symbols to help one another find shelter, food and work (Morgan). Riding the rails became a popular way to travel and past time, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Choosing A University Or College It is important to choose a university or college as early as possible because you will have a idea where you want to go to be prepared after high school. It is important to know what you want to do and what you want to do after high school as early to save the stress and have a mind set on what to do. The steps to choosing a university or college is fairly simple you just have to consider your options. There are 10 best steps to take but I have chosen the best 4 steps. One of the steps that I thought was one of the best was according to Katy Hopskins Rank your priorities: List of Pros and Con , you must consider the pros and cons of the university/college and decide your priorities. The following step is Compare Financial Aid Packages which is to look at the different packages to make it much more affordable and have to owe less after college and won t be stuck in debt. The third step is Delve Into The Department and that is to look at what the college is great at and if that school excels in what you re majoring or what you want to do if possible. The final step is Don t Procrastinate and this step is self explanatory but this step is to dont procrastinate and dont wait until the last second to do everything. Decide what you want to do because you won t be able to think as clear as if you had thought about it a year ago and given you time to think about your options so its important to give yourself time to think and do things. There is no true definition of the best education. Places around the world believe they have the best education but that is because of their location. Location is a huge factor that comes in when looking at education. Some places don t have the resources or people to provide good education. Those places simply do the best they can. Outsiders looking in don t take into consideration the lack of money a country has, the lack of resources, the lack of teachers, lack of buildings, and lack of importance. Education is hard for wealthy countries and even harder for countries in poverty. Money, space, resource, and teachers are a huge factor in determining the succession of the education world. It would be hard for me to teach in Kenya due to the wealthy vs poor issues. I see students as humans I don t look at them and assess their economic standings. • 9. The Living Planet Index ( Lpi ) Over the course of history, many scientist experts have raised the fright and panic about population numbers that only increase every year. According to the Living Planet Report, the Living Planet Index (LPI), which measures more than 10,000 representative populations of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish, has declined by 52 per cent since 1970. Population sizes of different species in the world has dropped by at least half. Some of these species are the living things that establishes the fabric of the ecosystems which sustain life on Earth. In the following two centuries, the population increased at an annual growth rate of 6 per 1,000, reaching 2.5 billion by 1950. In the following five decades, it has more than doubled, at a growth rate of 18 per 1,000 to reach more than 6 billion in 2000. The world population will reach 8 billion to 10 billion by the year 2030 (Robbins, 130). Today, we are using and taking so much from our ecosystems and natural processes, we are actually exposing and exploiting our own very existence on Earth. Nature preservation and sustainable ecological development complement each other. They are just as much about protecting the future of humanity our well being, economy, food security, and social stability. • 10. Eye Anatomy Poster Eye Anatomy Posters Explaining Our Body s Cameras By Stephen Lamb Oct 4, 2009 The human eye is nature s version of a camera, yet so much more complex than a camera that all its functions require years of study to understand. For example, within the layers of the retina immediately behind the lens, light impulses are converted into electrical signals which proceed through the optic nerve to the occipital cortex at the back of the brain, where they are translated . Healthy eyes see in 20/20 vision. That is, standing 20 feet away from an eye chart a series of symbols, or images, printed on a page people with 20/20 vision can see everything a normal eye can see, normal being based on the average visual acuity of a majority of the population. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Defects in the shape of the lens, or inadequate filling of the vitreous humor, can result in inadequate vision. Age and disease also play their part in reducing human vision. Thus, perfect vision at birth may require correction as early as grade school, and will almost certainly require correction by the age of retirement. Ophthalmologists, or eye doctors, can help patients understand the need for corrective lenses or surgery by using an Eye Anatomy Poster, whose central figure is a cut away view of the right eye which depicts everything from the rods and cones (specialized structures in the eye the retina uses to process light) to more esoteric items like the canal of Schlemm or scleral venous sinus, a circular channel that collects fluid from the anterior chamber and sends it to the bloodstream. With its diagram of the visible light spectrum, and a dissection of the structures of the eyeball, this detailed chart makes it easier to see how the sight of a flower, for example, passes through the retina to the optic nerve and is interpreted by the brain for our enjoyment, edification and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children are the most vulnerable to sexual abuse, and there are risk factors to consider that would make one child more of a target compared to another child. The three risk factors that are related to sexual abuse are: 1) the age of the child, 2) socioeconomic status and 3) how well the child knows his/her abuser. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming fact is how many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the sexual abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Children between the ages of three to five years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a victim of sexual abuse. Children need to have supervision at all times, especially during times like changing clothes and bathing. If unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child isn t getting any attention from the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child things that the family can t buy for the child, listening to the child s problems and gain their trust. The level of education plays a role, if the child is raised by a single parent and/or if the parents have marital problems. It is a term that generally covers the harnessing of electronic technology for the information needs of a business at all levels. Communication is the conveyance or transmission of information from one point to another through a medium. An example of how ICT has had an impact on the Banking Industry is that its emergence allows banks to apply credit scoring techniques to consumer credits, mortgages or credit cards. Hence, products that used to be highly dependent on the banks´ evaluation of its customers have now become more standardized. Other examples of ICT impact on the Banking Industry include the increased process efficiency, which can reduce costs in banks, and the branch renewal, where focus is gradually shifting away from traditional brick and mortar banks towards the dual bank concept ... • 16. Positive And Negative Consequences Of Repealing The Jones Act Cost Analysis: I firmly believe, repealing the jones act would certainly make American economy prosperous. In this section I will bolster my opinion by analyzing some positive and negative consequences of repealing the act in terms of cost, economic impact, and national safety. Positive Consequences of repealing Jones act: Repealing the Jones Act could benefit the American economy, as it is cheaper to build ships outside USA and hiring foreign crew Building ships in America is certainly costly affair. It could cost five times more than the ship built outside USA due high labor rates. Thus, repealing the jones act, means American companies can lookout for cheaper options and buy vessels made in foreign countries at cheaper rates. Wages for foreign crews are substantially lower than American crews. American crews cost nearly 4.5 times more than foreign crews. These wages make up nearly 75 percent of the operating cost difference between the two. If foreign shippers were permitted to enter the U.S. market, American companies would be forced to compete, and lower both their wages and prices to more reasonable levels. Cost of living would be significantly cheaper in states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico Currently people from states like Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico have to spend a lot of money to get goods due to higher freight transportation rates imposed by the Jones act. For example, it costs about $750 to ship a 45 foot container from Los Angeles to Shanghai, but it costs $8,500 to ship the same container from Los Angeles to Honolulu. This means that it costs 11 times more money to ship something to some domestic locations than international ones. Thus, repealing jones act, the cost of living in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico would decrease greatly as residents would not have to spend as much money to get goods, from mainland America or from a foreign nation. Economic boost for American Industries Relaxing the Jones Act would lead to an economic boost for many industries across the nation, and provide more goods at lower prices for American consumers. However, many Americans re simply unaware of the impact that the extra shipping costs of the Jones Act has on their lives, and therefore efforts to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Reflection On Atonement The English word Atonement is derived from the two words at onement and denotes a state of togetherness and agreement between two people. Atonement presupposes two parties that are estranged, with the act of atonement being the reconciliation of them in a state of harmony. The theological meaning is the reconciliation between God and His fallen creation, especially between God and sinful human beings. The centrality of the atonement to Christianity has influenced our language, giving us the word crucial which means literally pertaining to a cross. When we say that anything is crucial we are saying that it is as central to that to which we apply it as the cross is to Christianity. What Christ did on the cross is the heart of the Christian Faith . Professor Kwesi Dickson, making a careful exegesis of Paul s teaching on the meaning of the cross and looking briefly at what he regards as inadequacies in modern views of this event identifies the contribution of African culture towards our understanding of the atonement. In contrast to the European, The African regards death in a positive way, as the fulfilment of the earthly life and as the gateway to ancestorhood. African thought can thus throw light on the meaning of the death of Jesus Christ. The Atonement may be seen as strengthening the community, through Christ the ever living and perfect ancestor. • 18. The Theory Of Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory Albert Bandura is one of the most influential psychologist in history, best known for his famous Bobo Doll Experiment. From this experiment, Bandura developed his Social Learning Theory, the theory that we learn from one another through observation. To prove his theory, Bandura used children to see if they would imitate a modal who showed aggressive behavior toward a Bobo doll. The subjects were 36 boys and 36 girls from the Stanford University s Nursery School aged between 3 and 6 years old. The models were two adults, male and female. Aggressive behavior was shown to 24 children, non aggressive behavior was shown to 24 children and 24 children served as the control group. For the first step of the experiment, a child and a model were brought into a room containing toys. The child was escorted to a corner that had potato prints and stickers while the model was escorted to a corner that had a tinker toy set, a mallet and a 5 foot inflated Bobo doll. For subjects that were in the aggressive condition, the model began aggressing toward the doll after a minute. The model performed distinct aggressive acts that Bandura was looking for the child to imitate. The model laid the doll on its side, sat on it and punched it repeatedly in the nose and then raised the doll, picked up the mallet and struck it on the head. Following the mallet aggression, the model tossed the doll up in the air and kicked it around the room. These aggressive acts were repeated three times, interspersed ... Girls think they need to wear makeup to look pretty. Guys think they need to be masculine. Everyone around the world is pressured by society to be someone they re not. Lots of people say that society has killed the teenager . To me that quote means that society gives us these certain images that we are supposed to strive for. For example, skinny, tall, perfect teeth, no acne, etc. As teens we are at the age of wanting to fit in and be better but society is ruining how we view ourselves and the ways we think. Also another thing is to just be yourself. If you be yourself, the right people will come to you. For example, let s say someone starts to wear makeup because her friends are wearing it, or someone said that she was ugly without it. She ll start to become a person she doesn t want to be. She ll start to become influenced by her friends and the people around her. Then she ll stop wearing it one day and then she ll continue to stop wearing it for a while. She might get hatred, compliments on her natural beauty, or her friends won t even care. See what she did? She stopped pretending to be a character in a movie, and started being herself. All she needed was bravery and determination. As you can see, the themes in Flowers For Algernon and in The Giver relate to the real life we are facing today. • 21. Depression And Dementi Depression Several studies have shown links between depression and dementia. Brommelhoff, Johansson, Fratiglioni, Gatz, McArdle, Pederson state, there are three hypotheses that might explain the association (Jorm, 2001). The first is that depression is a symptom that indicates the onset of dementia, also known as a prodromal feature. The second is that the two are independent illnesses; however, depression causes cognitive deficits, which lead to an earlier onset of dementia. The last argues that depression causes damage in the hippocampus, which then leads to dementia. Some studies have found depression to be a prodrome of dementia. One specifically found that depression arises due to neuropathological damages during the course of dementia, and another showed that people with late onset depression had greater frontal lobe atrophy than controls and those with early onset depression. On the other hand, it has been shown that a history of depression increases the risk of dementia later in life. There is some evidence that the earlier the onset of depression, the greater the likelihood is of developing dementia later; however, this only held true in individuals with little education. The disagreement and contradiction in previous studies call for further experimentation, primarily to determine whether a history of depression significantly predicted the likelihood of having dementia later in life (Brommelhoff et al., 2009). Researchers examined the difference in the number of years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Professionalism, Integrity, Honesty, And Professionalism Introduction/Purpose/Objective Professionalism in nursing provides an important framework for the continual development and advancement in the nursing profession. As healthcare providers, nurses are held to high standards of practice for providing safe, effective, evidence based care to clients. As the healthcare system continuously advances, the level of professionalism becomes crucially imperative to nurses and other professionals. Throughout the years nursing has continuously been regarded as one of the most trusted professions. As a result of this significant rating, it s important for nurses to maintain integrity and honesty while upholding the core values of their respective institutions to provide safe and effective patient centered care (Olshansky, 2011, p. 193). As healthcare professionals, nurses must strive to incorporate humanistic qualities such as integrity, honesty and compassion into their respective field of practice. King Louis XIV was one of the most powerful absolute monarchs in the history of Europe. He was thought of as the quintessence of what an absolute monarch should be. Throughout this paper, I will discuss the many important aspects of King Louis s reign and some of the influential things he did and their effects on society at the time. One way he achieved his absolute power was through the divine right of kings. The Divine right of kings is defined as the doctrine that the right of rule derives directly from God, not from the consent of the people. King Louis XIV used the fact that people couldn t deny any of his privileges because if they did it would be like they were denying God himself to his advantage. Jean Domat, a French jurist, wrote in his publication on Social Order and Absolute Monarchy , Since government is necessary for the public good, and God Himself has established it, it is consequently also necessary for those who are subject to government, to be submissive and obedient. For otherwise they would resist God Himself, and government, which should be the bond of peace and unity that brings about the public good, would become an occasion for divisions and disturbances that would cause its downfall. Jean Domat wrote mostly of royal absolutism; King Louis XIV regarded his work very highly. This evidence proves that during this time, many believed that if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Explain The Extent Of Normal Hair Growth The extent of normal hair growth differs between people, families, and races. It is somewhat extensive in the Mediterranean and some Asian subcontinent populations. Too much facial or body hair growth in a woman is known as hirsutism. There is no absolute margin between the normal hair growth and hirsutism. Usually, sex hormones affect the hair growth in the moustache, beard, breast, chest, armpit, the midline of the abdomen, genital area, and the thighs. A type of soft hair (vellus hair), which is normally present all over the body, is not affected by the sex hormones. If a woman has excess hair growth over the regions, which contain the sex hormone dependent hair, it shows increased male hormone (androgen) production in the ovaries and adrenal glands. This process commonly occurs due to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) but occasionally other rarer conditions. Other conditions include an abnormal growth of adrenal glands (congenital adrenal hyperplasia), Cushing s syndrome, and tumours of the ovary and the adrenal gland. Androgens are normally known as male hormones. However, both males and females produce androgens. Men produce androgens in larger amounts compared to women. There are few male hormones, of which testosterone is the well known one. Hirsutism can occur due to increased levels of androgens or raised sensitivity of the hair follicles to normal male hormone levels. A few women with hirsutism produce excessive androgens. Is Hell Exothermic Essay How Logical is the Essay Regarding to the essay question Is Hell exothermic or endothermic, though the answer that the student gave was not exactly logical per se, but was certainly well deserved for the grade that he got due to his creative and innovative way of thinking. First, the question itself was based on the premise that Hell does exist, which we know most of the scientists do not agree, as well as the existence of Heaven and God/gods. And since Hell is not to be found in a place where we can probe, and no one has ever been there and came back, nobody can tell for sure how does Hell functions . Thus we know that the intension of this question was not actually to find the answer of the operation of Hell, but to test on how the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was a time in which art, culture, and science were embraced and progress sought was pursued. While progressive values were accepted, this did not mean traditional institutions such as the Roman Catholic Church did not maintain its influence on society. Religion and politics were often intertwined and ultimately influenced the works of many artists. The Church used arts as a form of communicating messages, propaganda and was able to obtain power by doing so. Many of Leonardo s works are the product of projects commissioned by churches and political leaders, which is the source of the religious themes of many of his paintings. The Medici Family, which was the family in power during this time, had a particularly strong alliance with the pope and Catholic Church. They served as bankers and accountants to the Church. During the mid 1420s, the second phase of the war between Florence and Milan occurred in which imposition of a new tax reform became imperative as the Medici looked for a way to finance the battle. The Medici did not view this imposition as a violation of religious authority. Additionally, the Medici was challenged again in 1472 as the pope and king of Naples aimed to free Florence from Medici s oppression. Da Vinci s work could be interpreted as a symbol of hope and liberation, as Gabriel visits the Virgin Mary from heaven, with news that she will conceive a holy child. This demonstrates the intermingling of religion and politics, which is very much aligned with the depiction we see in The Tribute Money and Annunciation. The depictions of divine moments captured through the medium of great Renaissance art is clearly influenced by the role of the Church at the time, and the paintings allow the viewer to enjoy the work but also reconsolidate their Christian ... When different prices are charged by a seller for essentially the same product it is known as price discrimination. The monopolist often wants to segment the market according to the price elasticity of demand (e) and charge higher prices for those consumers with lower elasticity of demand, according to the mark up formula. Therefore Futures Unlimited Corporation can also discriminate its price. Direct price discrimination can again be sub divided into three categories first degree price discrimination, second degree price discrimination, and third degree price discrimination. With first degree price discrimination, every firm would like to charge a different price to each of its customers. If possible, the firm would charge each consumer the maximum price that consumer is willing to pay for each unit bought. The maximum price the consumers are willing to pay is known as the customer s reservation price. The act of charging each customer his or her reservation price is called first degree price discrimination or perfect price discrimination. Breeders can alter the crops by adding to a specific plant one or more genes from other related crops with a known resistance to an insect or herbicide The use of genetically engineered crops has become a hotly debated topic over the last couple of years. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Roundup works by inhibiting enzymes essential to plant growth. By increasing the enzymes produced in plants, the plant is unaffected by the herbicide (Monsanto Crossroads). With the insertion of the Roundup resistant and Bt genes, the negative environmental impacts from agriculture can be reduced. One way environmental damage can be reduced is by decreasing pesticide use. According to Monsanto, Bollgard cotton, a variety resistant to bollworms, was used in 13% of the total cotton crop in 1996. Sixty percent of those growers used no insecticide, most others only used one application. This is compared to an average of 4 to 6 applications. The reduced applications saved a quarter million gallons of insecticide. Monsanto has also developed potatoes with resistance to the Colorado potato beetle. Farmers using this new variety reported eliminating 1 5 insecticide applications. The total reduction in applications of insecticides was between 33% 42% over conventional methods (Biotech Benefits). By inserting the Bt gene into the plant cell, only the insects that are damaging the crop are killed. Conversely, when the Bt gene is used in a pesticide spray many more insects that may have been beneficial to the crop are killed (ESA Position Statement). By having insect resistance built in, farmers can eliminate costly trips across the field needed to spray insecticides. Much like Bt corn, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The last stage of their journey to Orodruin came, and it was a torment greater than Sam had ever thought he could bear.
