HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE
COMBINATION OF YOUR
MAIN PRODUCT AND
ANCILLARY TEXTS?
THE BEGINNING
Before beginning the whole construction process, as a group we
sat down and began discussing the ideas, and potential styles for
our final products. As a group we chose to highlight a really
relaxed, cool, natural dynamic of our artists, as this would allow
our target audience to relate to them. We also chose this in order
to document the fun and relaxed lifestyles of young people,
linking it back to the demographic profiles of our target audience.
After deciding on the general style of our artists, we decided that
the motifs we would use in order to reflect a sense of consistency
and unity between our products, we decided to reflect this
through the motif of font and motif of contrasting use of colour.
FONT MOTIF
In terms of the font we chose to use the same font on the digipak
and website in order to reflect unity between the two products and
therefore allow them to create synergy, by promoting each other.
The Aztec style font used for the album title is quiet unique and
creative, hence why we chose to use it as it reflects our artists
sense of diversity and creativity, which according to our
demographic audience profiles is appealing to our target
audience. The 3D style font that was used for the artists name
symbolizes a new age of technology, that is popular amongst our
target audience, hence why we chose to repeat it on both the
digipak and website, as the credibility will be increased.
COLOUR MOTIFAlthough as a group we decided to follow a colour motif, the motif
we decided upon was contrasting colours, including monochrome
and bright warm colours.
We believed that this would be effective as it would reflect the
diversity and acceptance of our artists. In addition, a large variation
of colours allowed us to attract a broader target audience, as
different colours were appealing to others. The use of bright colours
also emphasized the positive and vibrant vibe of our artists, allowing
our target audience to create a relationship with the artists and their
products.
At first we were unsure about using monochrome as it drastically
challenged the codes and conventions of a Hip-hop music video,
however, we asked our audience for feedback and found that, this
was an appealing aspect to them. As it provided all the products
with a sense of history and therefore reinforcing the importance of
our artists.
IS THE COMBINATION
EFFECTIVE?
Personally, I think that the combination is effective in terms
of allowing our artists to establish themselves and their
style, as throughout all 3 products we managed to maintain
the relaxed and natural attitude of our artists.
The use of reoccurring images and motifs throughout
allowed our products to be seen as professional due to the
sense of unity that was created. The link created between
the 3 also enables our target audience to be familiar with
the styles and themes of our artists.
The motifs we used are also quiet abstract, unique and
challenge the codes and conventions of a Hip-Hop music
video, causing our artists to stand out, increasing the buzz
generated around them

As a group we chose to highlight a really relaxed, cool, natural dynamic of our artists, as this would allow our target audience to relate to them. We also chose this in order to document the fun and relaxed lifestyles of young people, linking it back to the demographic profiles of our target audience. After deciding on the general style of our artists, we decided that the motifs we would use in order to reflect a sense of consistency and unity between our products, we decided to reflect this through the motif of font and motif of contrasting use of colour.

FONT MOTIF In terms of the font we chose to use the same font on the digipak and website in order to reflect unity between the two products and therefore allow them to create synergy, by promoting each other. The Aztec style font used for the album title is quiet unique and creative, hence why we chose to use it as it reflects our artists sense of diversity and creativity, which according to our demographic audience profiles is appealing to our target audience. The 3D style font that was used for the artists name symbolizes a new age of technology, that is popular amongst our target audience, hence why we chose to repeat it on both the digipak and website, as the credibility will be increased.
  • 4. COLOUR MOTIFAlthough as a group we decided to follow a colour motif, the motif we decided upon was contrasting colours, including monochrome and bright warm colours. We believed that this would be effective as it would reflect the diversity and acceptance of our artists. In addition, a large variation of colours allowed us to attract a broader target audience, as different colours were appealing to others. The use of bright colours also emphasized the positive and vibrant vibe of our artists, allowing our target audience to create a relationship with the artists and their products. At first we were unsure about using monochrome as it drastically challenged the codes and conventions of a Hip-hop music video, however, we asked our audience for feedback and found that, this was an appealing aspect to them. As it provided all the products with a sense of history and therefore reinforcing the importance of our artists.
  • 5. IS THE COMBINATION EFFECTIVE? Personally, I think that the combination is effective in terms of allowing our artists to establish themselves and their style, as throughout all 3 products we managed to maintain the relaxed and natural attitude of our artists. The use of reoccurring images and motifs throughout allowed our products to be seen as professional due to the sense of unity that was created. The link created between the 3 also enables our target audience to be familiar with the styles and themes of our artists. The motifs we used are also quiet abstract, unique and challenge the codes and conventions of a Hip-Hop music video, causing our artists to stand out, increasing the buzz generated around them “I absolutely the contrasting colours, they make me excited.” “The 3D font is very urban and modern, I like it.”
