Incoming and Outgoing Shipments in 1 STEP Using Odoo 17
Evaluation Question 2
1. How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary tasks.
EVALUATION QUESTION 2
2. My Digipak and Advertisement
For our music video which we created we were asked to produce a digipak which was the album cover design and
also a poster for the advertisement of the album to promote our product. We understood when creating the two that
we had to keep a consistency of house style, which needed the same font and logos, so the audience understand
who the band is and there is no difference of the two.
The font we used for our band name was the same which was Sierra Madre We found this font on dafont.com under
the category distorted We thought this font worked well as it gave the connotations of mysterious and isolation by
having quite straight and sharp edges. By having the same logo, the audience will become familiar with the logo and
recognize the band. If we didn’t see the same logo/ font it would look like a different band and seem unprofessional.
We also tried to keep to similar colours in the background to give the feeling of darkness and isolation again using a
back background fading, as this also shows that the poster is advertising and the same as the digipak. We challenged
the typical conventions of the digipak and poster as we used for the digipak the whole groups, faces without the main
artist being bigger or having a dominance over the group to show an equality between the members and their
importance.
3. Digipak
We wanted to be more original and different to average
digipaks, to give something different and exciting for our
audiences, which is why we chose a four panel digipak, this
allowed the audience when opening the cd, to have to look
at each individual group members face, as we understand
most audiences only know and care for the main actor/singer.
This gives more equality and understanding to the audience,
and by using different colours gave meaning and more
understanding of each members personality be using
connotations of the colours. The main artist and actor in the
music video is fighting his own self depression and loneliness
which at the end he escapes and is shown by a yellow/
orange background, to represent a new day and light away
from the black darkness he is normally surrounded in which is
why we chose yellow as the colour of Aarons face on the
digipak to create a connection between the main product
and ancillary task.
4. Advertisement
For my advertisement we used a faded image of the abandoned
location in the video into a black background, we used this image to
help represent the isolation of being lost and the loneliness of the main
actor. To help the audience understand the current situation of most
people, which the video is about standing up and fighting for what you
believe in to escape what people tell you to do. Which by using the
black background being faded into helps to represent if you give in
then there's on more darkness. It also gives the feeling of tension and
wanting to know what the location has to do with the cd, which
encourages audiences to buy the album and watch the video to find
out more. We also used the same colours of each group members
colour of there face on the digipak as the claw marks, to also represent
each individual as a equal group then to only have one main singer.
5. Layout
The layout of my ancillary tasks, are how we expected and planned each
task, making sure there is a clear representation of the album and the
audience. We purposely shot our advertisement using a wide shot to give
a clear view of the location to the audience. Which the large title of the
album attracts you straight to it, which linking the picture and title gives
the impression of something is going to happen and wanting to know
what is. The title also has a war like font with bullets and scratches coming
off words, to help give the impression its not going to be easy ride during
this revolution, to help intrigue and interest the audience in joining the
journey. The band name is at the top using the logo to show its significant
and important, on the direct black background to stand out more and
seen straight away.
We also used smaller size text at the bottom and logos to represent the
social media and how to interact with the band and learn more, to give
a connection and interest between the band and the audience. To give
some cross media convergence between the two different medias. Also
the use of ratings of using bright yellow stars attracts the audience as its
quite bright and the audience before buying will want to know if they can
trust the album and if its good which the rating shows that most big name
magazines enjoyed it.
6. Layout
The layout of the digipak was much simpler. As we used didn’t want to
overcrowd images and text, which we kept to having 1 image or text on
each opening, which had either a image of the band, the band logo or
quotes from the music video.
We did some secondary research to find similar digipaks/ cd covers of the
indie based genre albums to see what each had in common to get an
idea of what to include which where all very simple.
7. Synergy
There was synergy between the two products, as during the music video
we used different lighting to represent emotions of the current situation but
also different band members into the music video. This relates to the cd
cover as we used different colours for the faces which are used for
different lighting, also for the claw colours for the logo of the group used in
the digipak and poster.
8. Band and Album name
The name of the band is clawss- we chose this name
because claws are gripping and will grab the attention of
the audience, feeling quite feisty and meaningful. We could
also use for the band logo under the name 4 claws which
represent each band member, using a different colour,
showing that each person has the same and equal effect
on the band.
The album name is upcoming revolution- we chose this
name as within the song this is the main point of the artists
journey, as he is trying to overcome his own self anxiety and
stress, which he needs to stand up for what he believes in.
This gives the clue of something extraordinary is going to
happen by upcoming, which gives no clues. The revolution
is what is going to happen which attracts audience to want
to know what happening and what they are fighting for.
9. Audience Reception
Audience theory is about what the audience interpret from different images and mise en scene, and what
significant and meaning it gives to the audience and how it makes them feel. This is where the media controls
what they think about certain situations. There are different theories for this:
Hypodermic Needle Theory- This is where the intended message is directly received by the audience, and this
means that they feel and think how the media wants them to.
Two Step Flow Theory- The two-step flow of communication model says that most people form their opinions
under the influence of opinion leaders, who in turn are influenced by the mass media. So according to this
model, ideas flow from mass media to opinion leaders, and from them to a wider population
10. Reception theory
Reception theory provides a means of understanding media texts by
understanding how these texts are read by audiences. Theorists who
analyze media through reception studies are concerned with the
experience of cinema and television viewing for spectators, and how
meaning is created through that experience. This means by due to
different cultures, race, background and interests ect, can mean that
different people will interpret text in different ways, giving different
meaning to them.
This means most indie audiences may interpret my product and text in a
similar way as they will have the same interests, however rock bands for
example may have different meanings and interpret my product in the
wrong way.
