Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences defines intelligence as a set of skills that allow us to solve problems or create valuable products in our culture. While we all develop various intelligences to different degrees, the way we learn within each intelligence may vary between individuals. Some activities that can improve learning by tapping into multiple intelligences include using visual aids, asking questions, organizing information, providing hands-on materials, incorporating music, facilitating discussions, and encouraging individual research. Learning styles refer to different approaches for learning - visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Teachers should create activities using various learning styles to achieve more effective learning for all students.

Gardner's MI theory rejects learning styles
1. Learning styles and multiple intelligences
Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences
Gardner defines intelligence” as the skill set that allow us to solve problems or
make products valuable in our culture” all develop all the intelligences, but each
to varying degrees.
Gardner rejects the concept of learning styles and says that “the way to learn
the same individual may vary from an intelligence to another”
Some activities by improve learning using the multiples intelligences are:
Visual/Spatial Intelligence.- power point presentations, using flash cards by
introducing new vocabulary, using pictures, videos, charts, ask students create
a poster, concept mapping and then asking to explain it to their classmates.
Verbal/Linguistic Intelligence.- Ask questions aloud, prepare a presentation about a
specific topic and then explain, etc.
Logical/Mathematical Intelligence.- organize information, etc.
Bodily/Kinesthetic Intelligence Provide tangible items according to the topic, using
games like throw the ball to answer a question or participate in class, etc.
Musical/Rhythmic Intelligence.- sing a song, Play music (relaxing music) in the
classroom during some activities like draw or write, etc
Interpersonal Intelligence.- organize a classroom discussion, work in groups or
pairs, exhibitions, etc.
Intrapersonal Intelligence.- Individual research on content or create a
questionnaire, etc.
2. Benefits of Multiple Intelligences
Learning style
The leanings styles are different way to learn, each person uses their own
method or strategies for learning not all people learn the same way, or at the
same speed, they do not have the same doubts, is important know your
learning style by facilitate the learning, so the teacher and the students must to
work together, in the case of the teacher he/she must to create activities using
the learning styles to achieve more effective learning in his students.
Visual Learners. - learn through seeing, these learners need pictures,
flashcards, videos, diagrams, see the body language, they are good
remembering visual details.
Auditory Learners. - learn through listening, they learn memorizing through
language, reading, discussions, brainstorming, TV, music, repetition,
recordings, etc. For such students it is good to involve them in discussions and
is easier to work in groups
Kinesthetic Learners. - These students learn through the action and
participation is more difficult that these students to sit for long time are easier
that these students are distracted. Such students will benefit most when they
are involved in the activity.
