QUESTION 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
Using Microsoft Powerpoint I am able to showcase my Media products Main
audience. I Have decided on these values via a Online Survey on Survey
Monkey that 62 candidates took part in and my own preferences and opinions
which I believe would make this Product successful. The overall design,
Content, photography and layout associated with the product will appeal l to
certain audiences I will indentify in this Question.
 The main Audience for my media product is predominantly
teenagers in the 16 to 20 years bracket. I had discovered
this thanks to The online survey I had constructed for the
general public to participate in over a weeks period. Out of
62 people who did the Survey a total of 26 votes (41.94
percent) was in the designated 16-20 year olds bracket.
Being a younger reading unit I was able to change and keep
aspects of the magazine that Younger audiences will be
entertained and interested by. It meant I could keep bright
colours amongst the page design, simpler text and make my
Magazine a striking brand dominated by quality photography
and colours. I could interpret that my magazine Is similar to
that of kerrang and this product likewise has a young fan
base. Likewise along with the youthful population 14 people
(22.58%) we aged 31-40 and 15 people (24.19) were 41-50.
I found this interesting as even though my main audience is
teenagers and very young adults, I identified that my product
would be suitable for a range of ages despite being targeted
to the youthful public. I had to make relevant changed and
adaptations that was including am mixed bag of artists that
resemble similar rock music but from different era’s.
Hopefully my audience will be able to connect with the
bands/artists from there preferred times and even try new
music for these bands. I also identified that overall there are
more Female readers of my magazine than males, this
surprised me as I would associate heavy rock and alternative
rock music as a very acquired taste of the male gender.
Using this knowledge - have added female artists into the
mix, used universal colour coordination that both appeals to
both genders and provided photography that females may
find attractive. I have made sure there is still a male bias in
the magazine despite the added content as its largely male
orientated and this could be why some females like this
product.
 I have learnt that My audience prefer to buy a monthly
magazine when considering how often they will buy a
magazine if they already buy other brands in the market.
Using this information I am able to match the majorities view
on issue release and hopefully work with my readers
preference. Month release means the magazine requires
more content to make up for the bulk of music news
gathered during the time period. I t also indicts what price
range I needed to consider when coming up with a sale
figure. Being younger audiences that fit the educational and
early adult life bracket, This is when a person generally has
the least disposable income. Therefore I can understand that
my audience don't want to pay too much on a magazine or
like to but get a issue that isn't as frequent so costs are
lower. This also tells me that my readers will be people of the
working or middle class in society. My survey did pick up that
the large bulk of people actual never bought magazines
already despite sharing an interest in the product. This
indicates that my audience members clearly like the product
if they haven't bought any other products before and that
also there is a large gap in this market. I can use this to
hopefully grab more fans and increase the target audience
buyers to enhance my sales and entertain more people. The
fact that 20 members of the public expressed a interest and
hadn't consumed a product before tells me I am doing the
right things to take mosh forward. To the right of the text i
have written now we see the results of how much a person
would pay for this product. Clearly the audience want to have
a magazine of good quality having the largest votes for the
second highest price. Equally this balances out as a
convenient price for the lower earners in money because of
its monthly release. I can understand my audience want to
see a well designed and presented magazine they will enjoy
for a higher price if it suits them. This denotes that my fans
are dedicated, loyal people that want to join in with the
experience and music my product has to offer.
 I found that out of all the factors that make a music magazine
good (images, articles etc) the public wanted to see
Interviews, tour dates and images/photographs the most.
This was interesting as I wanted Mosh to be a soul
representative of the music industry for younger audiences
and this meant by being more colourful, exciting and
entertaining. Therefore the involvement of pictures was vital
and the fact my audience want to see more of this made it
easer for me to incorporate a range of photographs related
to the articles and stories. My Audience are also interested
in seeing a range of tour dates in my magazine. This shows
that the fans are proactive in there ways to exploring the
medium of music They want to go watch concerts and know
they can try and get places at a verity of gigs. They enjoy
thrilling lifestyles and what to be more involved in this. This
suggests they are die hard music fans and are really
interested in the music we have on offer in this magazine.
Equally the target audience were also willing to explore new
artists and bands. This was useful as I realised my magazine
being a new product I could incorporate a range of articles
and stories based on recently formed bands and recommend
them via reviews and interviews. This would put a maker
down for my products style to audiences and get the
attention of the people. I hope that my product with the aid of
this knowledge can appeal to my audience in best way
possible now I have acted on these things. The favourite
music genre of my target audience is predominantly rock
music. This suits there agendas and preferences of
magazine content as shared in the comment above. This is
interesting as My magazine was going to be a rock genre
therefore I hope that my fans will love the product. I have
also incorporated elements of Pop and alternative rock
because these were also popular options in the music
market.
 In my Research I found that my Audience like to use a range
of Media platforms when accessing there music. Some of
these are YouTube, spotify and I-pods. This told me that my
audience are largely immersed in modern society, good with
technology and are into current things. This was interesting
as it told me that I needed to make my product more
technology friendly so that my audience could enjoy this
aspect of society that is now very popular. I have been able
to incorporate social media and online networking into my
products pages through interactive, competitions, reviews
and opinionated voting on bands, artists, venues etc. It also
helped me to understand what fans want to see displayed in
the magazine, I could identify more modern and engaging
stories for this purpose. Online access is important to the
readers of this product. I gathered that more fans would use
a online version than paper back however I wanted to
encourage sales in the magazine industry over the World
Wide Web. Therefore I have decided upon a voting system
via MOSH magazine official pages on social networking sites
that can get the feelings and emotions of my audience. This
is good for fans to be able to interact with a product and
ultimately contributes to the success of the product in
engaging with its readers.
