The value of ISO 9001 certification lies in a combination of learning, incentives, and signaling. ISO 9001 certification process teaches managers how to
reduce costs or cost–effectively improve quality. If ISO 9001 certification increases customers' willingness to pay for quality, which, in turn, is an
incentive for managers to improve product quality. The signaling, like incentives, operates if, in the absence of ISO 9001, many customers cannot
detect (and thus are unwilling to pay for) improvements in product or service quality. In such cases, certification could be a useful signal that enables
buyers to distinguish higher– from lower quality firms. ISO 9001 can play this signaling role as long as adoption is more often profitable for firms

ISO 9000 could be a benefit to an organization's control function of management if you have the right people in the organization. People who are
committed and involved in running a business the correct way. However, aspects of the control function of management that will most benefit by the

The first set of standards was published in 1987, and the first revision appeared in 1994. And now the latest updated version in 2000. These new
standards are referred to as the "ISO 9000 2000 Standards". ISO 9000 currently includes three quality standards: ISO 9000:2000 (fundamentals and
vocabulary), ISO 9001:2000 (requirements), and ISO 9004:2000 (guidelines).
When you compare ISO 9001:1994 and ISO 9001:2000 you'll notice a lot of different changes that have been undergone. ISO has abandoned the

maintained across the board. There are different standards relating to different aspects of running a business. Out of these standards, ISO 9000 series of
standards are recognised some of the best known standards1. There are 4 standards within the ISO 9000 series; namely the ISO 9001:2008, ISO
9000:2008, ISO 9004:2009, ISO 19011:2011.1

will help this manufacturing company in its Quality Assurance procedures.

The origins of ISO standards lie as far back as the 1940's, where the competition between companies was picking up. In today's competitive market,
quality assurance has become one of the most important aspects in determining which business is able to offer the best products.
ISO was established under the United Nations as an agency in 19472 3. At that time, membership was small; however, it now exceeds membership
