2. Cover Page
• From the Justin Bieber’s Billboard magazine, it has a very colourful
background alongside with some colourful coverlines, which can attract
the audience’s attention.
• Audience will tend to attracted by the colour of red, this is because red
colour connotes love, which the target audience have the desire of finding
a boyfriend/girlfriend.
• The name of the main artist (The cover model) must be mention even
though many of the audience may recognise the artist
• As the main artist is the USP of the magazine, so that the image of the
main artist must be big and outstanding, which the audience can notice
and also see it clear.
• The masthead of the magazine can be covered by the image as people has
already remember and they can recognise the magazine. However, as my
magazine is a ‘new brand’ and a new release product, therefore I won’t
cover my masthead as I want audience to remember my pop magazine.
• High key lighting also connotes confident to the artist.
3. Cover page
• The price tag of the magazine should be appear at the left or right corner
of the magazine.
• Many of the image on the magazine will have direct address to the camera,
which connotes confident of the artists.
• Front cover should be given out personal identity and social interaction to
the audience, as the audiences can talk about with their friends and
personal identity makes them to feel they are part of the community
(Mainstreamers).
4. Content Page
• The content page should contain pictures so the audience can know about
about the story
• There should be information about the magazine/individual story, so the
audience can know more about the story
• As the audiences are slightly sophisticated, so they would expect some text
which talking about the magazine.
• The colour scheme of the content page should the same as the front page
(continuity)
• There should be a masthead of the magazine appear on the content page.
• As the target audience are millennials and digital natives, so that the web link
can provide them another media platform to read the magazine (Website
usually appear on the content page)
• Clear page numbers allow the audience to find the pages more easily.
• There should have another image of the main artist as well as the page, which
can guide the audiences to the main story.
5. Double Page Spread
• The image of the artist should be bigger and outstanding, so the audience
can look at the artist, also as some of the audiences are slightly
unsophisticated ( Secondary audience 12-16), and they are tend to have
more pictures than text because they might feel bored while reading a
long article.
• The colour scheme should be the same as the front cover, as the main
artist is the USP of the magazine, so that the double page spread should
be matched with the front cover.
• The artist should use direct address to the camera/ audience, which
connotes confident/vulnerability of the artist.
• There should be multicolour, which can make the page more colourful.
• The headline should be big, which can bring out the artist.
• High key lighting connotes positive image and confident of the artist.
