In 1890 a massive environmental pollution struck a neighborhood within Niagara falls, New York,
called The Love Canal. The love canal was originally intended to e a model plan community, the
love canal was a residential area before being purchased by the Hooker chemical company. The
problem began after its sale to the local school district project. The toxic waste dumped under
grounds affected the health conditions that lasted a lifetime to numerous families. The neighborhood
demolished and according to the New York state health department was considered a " national
symbol of a failure to exercise a sense of concern for future generations." But the worse is that the
Love Canal tragedy can happen again anywhere in the country unless serious matters are taken to
prevent it.
It all began in 1890, William T. Love an ambitious entrepreneur dreamed of building a community
filled with parks and residences believing in twould serve the industry with hydroelectricity. In May
1894, work on the canal begun, Love digged the canal along with building some streets and houses.
Unfortunately Love had to abandon the project due to economical disastrous. With the abandoned
project, the canal gradually filled with water. Local children swam there during summer time and

For instance the lions, monkeys, antelope, lammas,... They were all out of there cages, but you had
to stay in your cars. When some cars were ahead we saw them feeding the monkeys , the monkeys

"Some things can be done as well as others", the famous line of Sam Patch became a well–known
saying amongst U.S. citizens especially Jeffersonian and Jacksonian democrats (Johnson, 163). Sam
Patch was many things in his lifetime from a famous falls jumper to a destitute mill worker to also
the first American–born boss spinner. He however was viewed different amongst social groups in

My Travel Experience : My Experience In My Life
In the past sixteen years in my life I have traveled to fifteen states and one other country. I traveled
across the United States to New York, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C, Wisconsin, and
Pennsylvania. The other country I went to was Canada. When I went to these places it was either
over the summer or with school on a trip. These traveling experiences have shaped my childhood
and made me become the person I am today. From all the traveling I've done in my life, I now love
to travel and I'm glad I get to go every month to Michigan to visit my family.
My first and last trip out of the state with my class was to Washington D.C. We went in 8th grade of

Before me was a breathtaking sight. The pictures I had seen prior to my vacation did not even begin
to do this natural wonder justice. Water underneath the fall was a beautiful green color. The water

There are many natural places all over the world. One of the places I have been to, and really
enjoyed, is Niagara Falls. This place is absolutely amazing. It has amazing sights and scenes, as well
as other fun tourist attractions. Going on the tour at Niagara Falls taught me a lot about the site. I
love this place because everytime I go there I am sent to this place that I could find, it just takes me
away I went to Niagara Falls when I was about 12. I stepped out of the car and just hearing the
incredible sound of the Falls, I was taken. It was so loud, just a huge roar of all the water going over
the edge. It surprised me because I didn't think it would be that loud. It only got louder and louder as
I got to the rail by the edge of the fall. Seeing the view of the falls took my breath away. Between
the blue of the flowing river water, the white of the rough water falling over the side, and the mist of
the water splattering off the rocks at the bottom of the waterfall, I was taken by its glory. Add on the
view of the city too and it was just an amazing experience for me. When I went on the tour I was
told a lot of facts that I found very interesting. For example, on the American side it is 1060 feet
long and 176 feet tall. It would be about 70 feet, but on account of the rocks at the base it is 176
feet. Also, the American side has a volume of about 150,000 US Gallons. Being as young as I was, I
was super impressed with these numbers. They told me that they are two hydroelectric plants in the
area that change the volume of water that flows over. The volume depends on the time of year and
the time of day. The heaviest flow is travel season, June, July, August, during the daytime. I found it
incredible that these plants could change the flow of water of something as grand as Niagara Falls.

My dad refused to go on that. So did my sister. As it went through the canyon, it turned into a

The state was covered in forests and mountains. We stayed with my uncle, who lived on the side of

By the basic definition, something is rare when it either does not occur often or it is not found in
large numbers which adds to its interest and value. The rarity of an object can be argued by different
groups of people. This causes debates about what should be considered rare and to what degree of
rarity an object is. If said object is classified as rare, what should be done with that object or idea
and how, if at all, should it be preserved. In this essay, I am going to question the idea of rarity and
show why rarity should not be used as a way to regulate environments. One view of rarity comes
from the realists; they believe "... an object is unique within a purview: given a certain boundary,
there exists no other object like it. " This idea makes defining something as rare only specific to the
boundary set. So, if something is rare in America it may not be as rare, if rare at all, in Europe. This
could have complications when considering different aspects of nature and how to define those
aspects as rare. For example, to Americans the Niagara Falls is a rare phenomenon and should be
maintained due to their rarity, however in other parts of the world there are falls just as good, if not

restriction of political and economic freedoms. In the progressive era, the economy grew
enormously. But because America was changing from a rural society to more of an urban scene,

Punchbowl Falls
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest of the United States has ignited my passion for hiking and
being in nature. For a greater portion of my life, I have lived next to Multnomah Falls and all the
beautiful hikes that surround it. My absolute favorite hike in the Columbia River Gorge area is
Punchbowl Falls. It is 5 miles and leads to a beautiful waterfall that people can swim in. Conquering
this hike takes almost a full day as it is mostly uphill and once people finally find the waterfall, they
do not ever wish to leave. Most of it is on a cliff's edge, which can be intimidating, but as people
hike higher, they are able to see incredible views of thousands of trees that never end. If that isn't
beautiful enough, the site of the waterfall is breathtaking. My first time going on this hike, I could
hear the water of the waterfall roaring, much like my excitement to capture in its beauty. When I
witnessed the waterfall, I noticed it runs off about a fifty foot cliff and I saw others jumping off it.
After many minutes of standing on the cliff's edge, I finally gained enough courage to jump.

traveling will be, they aren't open–minded to diversity. An individual's perception of traveling can
be affected by what people find enjoyable, their tolerance of creating intercultural relationships, and
their appreciation for their own life. People's impression of traveling may be affected by their
presumptions of their destination. For example, many people swarm to 'tourist traps' on their trips.
While many of these attractions are interesting and beautiful, they aren't very appealing to visit with

extremely similar in many aspects. The strong overarching thematic concept is focused around the
implementation of enforced civil rights and equality among African Americans and white

embrace the differences between both races within America. Washington and DuBois both exhibit
emotion, undisputable facts, and reliable credibility to convey their argument to the audience, while

Throughout the movie, Brian goes through the Identity Foreclosure, Identity Moratorium and
Identity Achievement statues of James Marcia's identity statuses theory. When Brian lives up to his
obedient, "Good Citizen," nerd image, he's in the Identity Foreclosure status since he
unquestioningly adopts his parents' and society's visions, values and roles. He follows rules,
questions rebelliousness and allows others to view him as weak for being a geek. Then, he
transitions into an Identity Moratorium status where he delays his commitment to being the Brain
and explores "alternative ideologies" and sides to himself when he smokes weed and connects to the

Over the last 6 months I have been interning for Rich Products as a Transportation Intern. A little
history of Rich's is that it was founded in 1945 by Robert E. Rich with Rich's Whipped Icing. The
company is 100% family owned and is the largest privately owned frozen food company in the U.S.
with about $3.7 billion in annual sales. Over the years they have grown and added many
international locations. Interning at a company this large has been a great experience.

Niagara Falls, Canada
Niagara Falls is my favorite vacation destination. The history and museums have been interesting
and kept me wondering about the people that have gone over the Niagara Falls for years. Why did
they do it? There have been many people to go over the Falls, some survived and some did not.
People take it as a challenge or even just for fun. Many believe that they may come out being rich,
they either have a great experience and are able to say they survived the Niagara Falls or they perish
to their death. It is against the law to go over the Falls and you will be charged, thousands. I love to
watch documentaries on Niagara Falls and hear about the people that have gone over the Falls and
survived. Niagara Falls is in North America, it is in Ontario, Canada and is on the border of America
and Canada. Canada is in the Era of Global capitalism as of 2017, this means that they are in a
transitional state with open ended evolution of capital. The Falls are a great source of electricity for
Ontario. Canada is moving into the postindustrial society and has achieved 77% of the population to
be urbanized. There is an increase in manufacturing and tertiary sectors of the economy, which is
what is leading to modernizing the population. Niagara Falls have three different waterfalls and each
is unique to the fitting names, The Horseshoe Fall, American Fall and The Bridal Veil. Every Fall
flows into the Niagara River filling the river with 150,000 gallons for water. The Horseshoe Fall is
in the shape of a horseshoe and is split in half on the Canadian border and the American border by
Goat Island. The Horseshoe Fall has nine times more water than the American Falls and makes up
90% of Niagara River. It stands at 167 feet tall and is 2, 700 feet wide in a horseshoe shape. The
American Fall and is located in America and is in the state of New York. This Fall is 110 feet tall
and 950 feet in width. This Fall shares its location with The Bridal Veil also in the state of New
York. The Bridal Veil is 181 feet from land to top and 56 feet wide. In 1678 the first sighting of the

A Brief Note On Cataract Elementary School Website
There were several sources used to obtain information provided in this report. The first and main
source used was from the Cataract Elementary School website. This source provided information
concerning the school, and academic affairs. Another source used was my personal experience of
walking around the school, and taking note of pictures, and children's artwork on the walls. Also
from personal experience, the mission and school mottos were obtained from seeing the school
walls, and were included in this report. Another source used was The Niagara Falls School District
handbook, providing a plethora of information regarding school rules, activities, and community
service opportunities for students and families. Two sources were used concerning NYSED data
assessment. The last two sources concern strategies to use in future years of teaching, providing
great examples of what to incorporate in a classroom.
2.) Cataract Elementary is a school located in Niagara Falls on Girard Avenue. It was established in
2007, and students from 60th and 66th street schools merged into Cataract Elementary. Its name
"cataract," comes from Niagara Fall's immense waterfall. This school is only one level, which gives
it a close–knit type of feel when being at the school; it also contains grade levels Pre–k up to grade
six. Cataract Elementary has around five hundred and fifteen students along with forty–two teachers
