Existing Product-
film magazine
• This magazine cover is like the magazine
that I want to create because in the
background of this picture is a old and
destroyed building and in my film there is a
lot of scenes that will have destroyed
buildings in them and this front cover also has
the main character as the main focus and I
will have my main character in the centre as
the main focus.
• The colours they use in this are also a lot
like the colours that I want to use and they
contrast well with the theme and just overall
look and film of the film. That is something
that I want the do with my magazine front
cover.
Existing Product- game magazine
• This front cover is for a game and it is like the one that I
want to do because the main photo and the main focus is
the main character in the story.
• The colours that is used in this contrasts well with the
background but also stands out but isn’t too much in your
face so it doesn’t get annoying.
• The advertisement that they use on the front cover is
also good because they relate to the game in a certain
way but doesn’t cover the front cover and also doesn’t
look messy.
Existing Product-game layout
• On this slide I have a existing product of a pixel game level
and the way that this will be like mine is because that it is in a
city landscape and is very simple but also very detailed. The
colour scheme that they use om this is also very simple but not
boring to look at and all the colours are dark colours mainly and
there is a lot of different tones used. And that gives it a real city
look and would help bring the game alive for the person that is
playing it.
• In this image you can see that he has a health bar and a
points counter and that will be one of the things that I want to
add into my game so that even though it’s a video it will really
look like someone is playing the game.
Research
Summary
• What have you learned from your research?
• - in my research I have learnt that there will
always be existing products out there and
there will always be examples of good colour
schemes to help with those ideas.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• - the part of my research that I will include in
my final piece is that colour is a lot and really
helps either bring the game alive or make it
look worse.
• - another aspect that I will use is when doing
the magazine the main character of the
film/game has to be the main focus and pulling
point of the front cover.

Script
• In my film I will have the starting scene in the first city and jack the main character
will find the radio that is giving out the message and he decides that he is going to
travel to the city to try find survivors.
• In the second scene I will have jack traveling over large amounts of land because
that is the scene or level where he will be traveling to the next city.
• In the third scene is where I will have my cut scene and I will have jack in the last
city and it is where jack is going to be shot by the unknown character and that’s
where the game will end and the cut scene will finish.

Production
Using your plans, produce:
• A synopsis for your film
• A video game that would support your film, to include a menu screen,
demo level and cut scene
• Sound track for the video game
• A magazine front cover, promoting the film
• Additional advertising to promote the film
Include synopsis, magazine cover and advertising in this pro forma. Animation
to be embedded in your blog.
Evaluation
Research
For the start of my research, I have looked at
existing movie magazine covers that I can refer
to when I am making my own front cover and I
found this hunger games movie magazine cover
and I picked it because the film has the same
genre and feel to the film that I have made and
the use of colours on the magazine is good and
there is not too many adverts to the point of it
being an eye sore to look at but also pulls your
attention so that you are more likely to buy it.
With my magazine front cover I followed the
main format that most movie magazines follow
with that there is a main big image in the middle
that also creates a background for the front
cover and then there's is adds and teasers
around the character that tells you abit about
what is inside the magazine. The strengths of
this part of my research is that I have found a lot
of magazines that are like to what I have created
so I have a lot to refer to and also a lot to talk
about on the research slide.
Research
In this part of my research got a existing
image of a game magazine and I got this
magazine because the game that is on it is a
lot like my game and I even got abit of
inspiration for my story line from that game
called the last of us. Another reason I chose
this magazine cover is because the colours
they use are very limited and the way they
have done it is very simple but affective. The
strength that I have in this part of my
research is that I had a very good idea
already on what I wanted to do for my game
and how I wanted it to look like another one
is that there is a lot to talk about with this
magazine cover so is was easy to do it. One
of my weaknesses for this part is that there
isn’t many game magazine covers that can
relate to my idea in what I wanted to do.
Research
In this part of my I have got an image of the
game layout that will be most like the one
that I was going to create the reason for this
is because it has a city in the back of the
image and the game that I have done has a
city in the background and the way the game
is set out is a lot like the game that I wanted
to create. One of the strengths of this is that
I have done pixel games in the past so I knew
what to talk about and what to look for when
looking for a layout another strength is that
because the existing layout that I had found
was so close to the layout of my game that I
wanted to create I could get a lot of
inspiration from it and also talk a lot about it.
Planning
This slide is an evaluation of the planning I did before I
started my production, I started off by doing a style sheet
and got different images on the type of style I wanted for
my game and the style I wanted for my characters as well
all the images that are on there, I found on the internet I
did not create the images. For the second bit of my
planning, I did a game layout and got images of the type
of layout and style of what I wanted the background will
look like and how its will be set out. The third thing I did
for planning was my magazine layouts and for that I
wanted to keep it simple like the magazines I did in my
research by getting a a4 box and labelling where
everything would be on the front cover. In my planning I
think that one of my strengths was the layout of my
planning and I pushed over what I wanted my whole
game and magazine to look like very well however one of
my weaknesses was that with the style sheet and game
layout I could have included some annotations to be
clearer on that I was conveying.
Time
Management
For this whole project, my time management has not
been the best since I’ve been at home the whole
time, but I have been able to stick to the deadlines for
the work and in some areas, I have put in more time
so that they are better in the long run and I made
sure that those areas where the ones that I wasn’t as
good in than the other, so I had more time to teach
myself new skills for the next time I come across
those areas. I have run my whole production and
evaluation into the half term so that I have given
myself the most amount of time to make my work up
to the best of my abilities in the current climate of the
situation. If I had more time, I would have extended
my game and I would have made more
advertisement for the film and the game and I also
feel like I would be able to put more detail into my pro
forma and some places.
Technical Qualities
My end production of this product I am proud of because
I’m not the best when it comes to pixel work but is this
project, I have done a good job when it comes to creating
the pieces from scratch like my pixel game. I can relate
my game a few existing games for example Mario with
the concept of collecting coins to gain points and having
lives until you must restart the game and with one of my
posters I have gone for the same look as the I am legend
poster because both that film and mine are set in the
same type of setting. The whole look of my game is very
bright because the scene that the game is set in is day
and also if I did it at night, I would have to change the
planning I did because I planned it to be in day. When it
comes to creating my game, I did it all on photoshop and
drew all of it with pixels and all without the help of
templates and the likes of that. After I did that and
animated it, I export it as a video and then put it in
premiere pro and that's where I added all my sound
effects and backing song. When it comes to my
magazine the existing products that look like it are movie
magazines that don’t have a main character or person on
the front cover and just have an object that is in the
movie and people would recognize when looking at it.
Aesthetic Qualities
The aesthetic appeal of my game like I said before
isn’t a lot like most 2d pixel games but the game is
nice to look at and the magazine cover is also nice to
look at because I have used colours that work well
with each other and not used a massive range of
colours so it doesn’t look right and with my posters I
have kept it simple but effective with have the
release date of the film on there and the title of the
movie and also used images that relate to the film
and would be seen in the film. So, of the things I did
the improve the look of the game is that I went into a
lot of detail withe the character and components and
made the pixel size small so I could make the whole
thing more detailed and with my magazine I have
used a technique where the barrel of the gun looks
like its infant of the writing and title of the magazine
but its infant of the backpack this is good because
emu makes the image pop more and stand out more.
Aural
Qualities
The sound track that I have on my game I had to
download because the software that I was going
to use to create the song wasn’t working and I
didn’t have time for any other options but I made
sure that I found a soundtrack that fitted the
pixel feel of my game and made it come to life
more also with my sound effects like picking up
a coin I used a tutorial that I found to help me
create them and then I added them in whenever
the character picked up a coin. The strength of
this is that I have good sound effects and a good
soundtrack for the pixel game but one weakness
is that I couldn’t create my own sound track due
to the problem I had.
Audience
Appeal
The target audience that I had for this project
is a fairly older one because of the use of
violence and guns in the game and film that I
would be creating all though I didn’t have any
gore in the level I did I had a gun in the level
and also one on the front cover of my
magazine. In the older audience violent films
are enjoyed a lot and the type of genre that I
have gone for and the type of plot I have yes
has been done a lot in games and films but its
affective and never fails to catch people's
attentions and creates tension within the world
you have created, and I think that I have done
a good job at doing that and that's why I
believe I have hit my target audience well.
Overall strengths
and weaknesses
of the final
package.
• My overall strengths of the final package is that I
think that I have done a fairly good join considering
the challenges I have had to go through and I have
also done animation and pixel games before so I
have a fair bit of idea on what I’m doing.
• My overall weaknesses for the final package is
that my time management was nit the best and that
is definitely something that I will have to work on in
the future.

  • 11. Existing Product- film magazine • This magazine cover is like the magazine that I want to create because in the background of this picture is a old and destroyed building and in my film there is a lot of scenes that will have destroyed buildings in them and this front cover also has the main character as the main focus and I will have my main character in the centre as the main focus. • The colours they use in this are also a lot like the colours that I want to use and they contrast well with the theme and just overall look and film of the film. That is something that I want the do with my magazine front cover.
  • 12. Existing Product- game magazine • This front cover is for a game and it is like the one that I want to do because the main photo and the main focus is the main character in the story. • The colours that is used in this contrasts well with the background but also stands out but isn’t too much in your face so it doesn’t get annoying. • The advertisement that they use on the front cover is also good because they relate to the game in a certain way but doesn’t cover the front cover and also doesn’t look messy.
  • 13. Existing Product-game layout • On this slide I have a existing product of a pixel game level and the way that this will be like mine is because that it is in a city landscape and is very simple but also very detailed. The colour scheme that they use om this is also very simple but not boring to look at and all the colours are dark colours mainly and there is a lot of different tones used. And that gives it a real city look and would help bring the game alive for the person that is playing it. • In this image you can see that he has a health bar and a points counter and that will be one of the things that I want to add into my game so that even though it’s a video it will really look like someone is playing the game.
  • 14. Research Summary • What have you learned from your research? • - in my research I have learnt that there will always be existing products out there and there will always be examples of good colour schemes to help with those ideas. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? • - the part of my research that I will include in my final piece is that colour is a lot and really helps either bring the game alive or make it look worse. • - another aspect that I will use is when doing the magazine the main character of the film/game has to be the main focus and pulling point of the front cover.
  • 15. Bibliography 1. Naughty dog – the last of us (video game) 2. Gary ross – the hunger games (film) 3. Unknown – city pixel game (video game)
  • 18. Magazine and advert layouts Main title for game or film advert advert advert Information on the film or game Main image
  • 20. Script • In my film I will have the starting scene in the first city and jack the main character will find the radio that is giving out the message and he decides that he is going to travel to the city to try find survivors. • In the second scene I will have jack traveling over large amounts of land because that is the scene or level where he will be traveling to the next city. • In the third scene is where I will have my cut scene and I will have jack in the last city and it is where jack is going to be shot by the unknown character and that’s where the game will end and the cut scene will finish.

  • 27. Using your plans, produce: • A synopsis for your film • A video game that would support your film, to include a menu screen, demo level and cut scene • Sound track for the video game • A magazine front cover, promoting the film • Additional advertising to promote the film Include synopsis, magazine cover and advertising in this pro forma. Animation to be embedded in your blog.
  • 29. Research For the start of my research, I have looked at existing movie magazine covers that I can refer to when I am making my own front cover and I found this hunger games movie magazine cover and I picked it because the film has the same genre and feel to the film that I have made and the use of colours on the magazine is good and there is not too many adverts to the point of it being an eye sore to look at but also pulls your attention so that you are more likely to buy it. With my magazine front cover I followed the main format that most movie magazines follow with that there is a main big image in the middle that also creates a background for the front cover and then there's is adds and teasers around the character that tells you abit about what is inside the magazine. The strengths of this part of my research is that I have found a lot of magazines that are like to what I have created so I have a lot to refer to and also a lot to talk about on the research slide.
  • 30. Research In this part of my research got a existing image of a game magazine and I got this magazine because the game that is on it is a lot like my game and I even got abit of inspiration for my story line from that game called the last of us. Another reason I chose this magazine cover is because the colours they use are very limited and the way they have done it is very simple but affective. The strength that I have in this part of my research is that I had a very good idea already on what I wanted to do for my game and how I wanted it to look like another one is that there is a lot to talk about with this magazine cover so is was easy to do it. One of my weaknesses for this part is that there isn’t many game magazine covers that can relate to my idea in what I wanted to do.
  • 31. Research In this part of my I have got an image of the game layout that will be most like the one that I was going to create the reason for this is because it has a city in the back of the image and the game that I have done has a city in the background and the way the game is set out is a lot like the game that I wanted to create. One of the strengths of this is that I have done pixel games in the past so I knew what to talk about and what to look for when looking for a layout another strength is that because the existing layout that I had found was so close to the layout of my game that I wanted to create I could get a lot of inspiration from it and also talk a lot about it.
  • 32. Planning This slide is an evaluation of the planning I did before I started my production, I started off by doing a style sheet and got different images on the type of style I wanted for my game and the style I wanted for my characters as well all the images that are on there, I found on the internet I did not create the images. For the second bit of my planning, I did a game layout and got images of the type of layout and style of what I wanted the background will look like and how its will be set out. The third thing I did for planning was my magazine layouts and for that I wanted to keep it simple like the magazines I did in my research by getting a a4 box and labelling where everything would be on the front cover. In my planning I think that one of my strengths was the layout of my planning and I pushed over what I wanted my whole game and magazine to look like very well however one of my weaknesses was that with the style sheet and game layout I could have included some annotations to be clearer on that I was conveying.
  • 33. Time Management For this whole project, my time management has not been the best since I’ve been at home the whole time, but I have been able to stick to the deadlines for the work and in some areas, I have put in more time so that they are better in the long run and I made sure that those areas where the ones that I wasn’t as good in than the other, so I had more time to teach myself new skills for the next time I come across those areas. I have run my whole production and evaluation into the half term so that I have given myself the most amount of time to make my work up to the best of my abilities in the current climate of the situation. If I had more time, I would have extended my game and I would have made more advertisement for the film and the game and I also feel like I would be able to put more detail into my pro forma and some places.
  • 34. Technical Qualities My end production of this product I am proud of because I’m not the best when it comes to pixel work but is this project, I have done a good job when it comes to creating the pieces from scratch like my pixel game. I can relate my game a few existing games for example Mario with the concept of collecting coins to gain points and having lives until you must restart the game and with one of my posters I have gone for the same look as the I am legend poster because both that film and mine are set in the same type of setting. The whole look of my game is very bright because the scene that the game is set in is day and also if I did it at night, I would have to change the planning I did because I planned it to be in day. When it comes to creating my game, I did it all on photoshop and drew all of it with pixels and all without the help of templates and the likes of that. After I did that and animated it, I export it as a video and then put it in premiere pro and that's where I added all my sound effects and backing song. When it comes to my magazine the existing products that look like it are movie magazines that don’t have a main character or person on the front cover and just have an object that is in the movie and people would recognize when looking at it.
  • 35. Aesthetic Qualities The aesthetic appeal of my game like I said before isn’t a lot like most 2d pixel games but the game is nice to look at and the magazine cover is also nice to look at because I have used colours that work well with each other and not used a massive range of colours so it doesn’t look right and with my posters I have kept it simple but effective with have the release date of the film on there and the title of the movie and also used images that relate to the film and would be seen in the film. So, of the things I did the improve the look of the game is that I went into a lot of detail withe the character and components and made the pixel size small so I could make the whole thing more detailed and with my magazine I have used a technique where the barrel of the gun looks like its infant of the writing and title of the magazine but its infant of the backpack this is good because emu makes the image pop more and stand out more.
  • 36. Aural Qualities The sound track that I have on my game I had to download because the software that I was going to use to create the song wasn’t working and I didn’t have time for any other options but I made sure that I found a soundtrack that fitted the pixel feel of my game and made it come to life more also with my sound effects like picking up a coin I used a tutorial that I found to help me create them and then I added them in whenever the character picked up a coin. The strength of this is that I have good sound effects and a good soundtrack for the pixel game but one weakness is that I couldn’t create my own sound track due to the problem I had.
  • 37. Audience Appeal The target audience that I had for this project is a fairly older one because of the use of violence and guns in the game and film that I would be creating all though I didn’t have any gore in the level I did I had a gun in the level and also one on the front cover of my magazine. In the older audience violent films are enjoyed a lot and the type of genre that I have gone for and the type of plot I have yes has been done a lot in games and films but its affective and never fails to catch people's attentions and creates tension within the world you have created, and I think that I have done a good job at doing that and that's why I believe I have hit my target audience well.
  • 38. Overall strengths and weaknesses of the final package. • My overall strengths of the final package is that I think that I have done a fairly good join considering the challenges I have had to go through and I have also done animation and pixel games before so I have a fair bit of idea on what I’m doing. • My overall weaknesses for the final package is that my time management was nit the best and that is definitely something that I will have to work on in the future.
