3. Research
On my research PowerPoint I started out by looking at existing magazines that had
the same theme and style to the type of magazine that I wanted to create and then
when I found a few examples of what I wanted to make I then put them into a
PowerPoint and talked about them and did an overview on how I was going to use
these examples to help me to create my final piece. After I had examples, I then
made a questionnaire on office and got as many people as I can to fill it out and I
tried to aim it towards my target audience so that the results I got I could implement
into my own work and when I had my results and the statistics for the
questionnaire, I then analyzed each question on the PowerPoint. I then did a more
face to face questionnaire and did a survey where I asked a fewer amount of
people a set of questions based for my target audience and then after I asked the
set amount of people the questions, I did a overview of the answers I got. One of
the main strengths of me doing all this research is that I can combine it all to
improve my final piece to suit my target audience and it allows me to have a pretty
good idea of what I want my finale piece to look like.
4. Planning
On my planning PowerPoint I started off my planning by
writing out a detailed list of what I need to be able to make the
magazine I made the list and then gave a reason for each one
on why I need that item. I then made style sheets for my
magazine i started by making a style sheet on the images that
I was going to use I got most of these images off of Pinterest
and then when I had the images I talked about why I had
them images and how they will relate to the images that I am
going to use in my finale piece after I had done the style sheet
on my images I then gathered loads of fonts that I think would
suit the type of magazine that I’m doing and due to me doing
a magazine the type of font I use is important so I spent a lot
of time making sure they were best for my theme. Then I
moved on to making another style sheet but this time for
colours that would be used inside of my magazine and all I did
for this is get colours pallets and then talked about how
colours would affect my magazine. I think that making the
style sheets have helped me create my finale piece and given
me time to look and styles of images that I could use and
different types of fonts. After all of that I started to do all of my
schedule planning and doing the health and safety stuff, and
this helps me plan ahead for potential mistakes and things
that could happen.
5. Experiments
These are the experiments that I made
before I started my production I made these
with the thought of the kind of vibe and
theme that I wanted for the magazine most
of the images of cars or people I have done a
glitch affect and made the photo look like it
was taken in the 80s because that is the era
that I am making my magazine in I did all of
these experiments on photoshop the first
three are experiments where I wanted to
experiment with different types of fonts that
I could create on my magazine and
experiment with typography and not just for
this project but will help me and give me
ideas for future projects. My favourite
experiments are the ones that involve cars
and people but the learning the new styles
of typography in the first three experiments.
6. Time
Management
During my finale project I believe
that my time management was
good and I stuck to my time table
and was able to stick to
deadlines and the schedule that I
created in planning I did mostly
stick too. I have gone over time
on a few things but thats only to
make improvements but other
than improvements I have stuck
to deadlines and since my FMP
project has been very digital and
mostly on the computers and I
haven’t needed to go out and
film or really take that many
pictures its been a lot easier to
stick to deadlines since most of
the work has been done on
computers.
7. Aesthetic
Qualities
This is my front cover for my magazine and
is one of my pieces that I’m most pleased
with and I believe I did a good job with it. I
started making this by getting one of my
portrait photos and editing it to give it that
80s glitch effect then I added the title and
logos at the bottom then added the
transparent Japanese writing. The contrast
in colours and how the title is the same
colour as the glitched car I think works very
well and allows the text to stand out but
also blends it at the same time and I think
it gives it a really good effect and I am
happy with the outcome of my front cover.
While making this I went back and fourth a
lot with variants of my front cover but I
settled with this due to the effectiveness of
the title and transparent text.
8. Aesthetic
Qualities
This is my first page of the
magazine and is the contents page
for the magazine that tells you
what's inside of the magazine and
these are the pages that took me
most amount of time getting
everything right and looking good
and I started by adding all the
pages that I was actually going to
do then I added the rest of the
pages that are fake and will not be
in the magazine but used them to
make the magazine seem bigger
and filled with articles and double
page spreads. When I was left with
just the images and text I thought
that the page needed some colour
so I added the pale pink Japanese
text down the middle to give it
colours and character.
9. This is my first article that I did in my magazine
and the article is focused one main subject
which being a car from the 80s. The articles in
my magazine where the one things I really
wanted to make professional and look smart
but also add a lot of information within the
article and I think that I have achieved that in
my first article I used a lot of lines under the
images and at the top of the page I used them
to try split up the paragraphs from each other
to give it that smart professional look and with
the title under the first image I decided to do
the hell and Porsche in two different fonts to
make them stand out and fit the theme I also
made the word Porsche red to copy the colour
of the car and so it fits the title of Porsche from
hell.
Aesthetic Qualities
10. This is my first double page spread and
the theme for this is the 80s so I wanted to
give this double page spread a old vintage
look to the page but I wanted to also
wanted to keep a professional look. I
added all the colour and the background to
match the theme and made sure that all
the colours fit with each other and didn’t
look out of place I started by adding the
images and then the text and I wanted to
add Japanese text to keep the 80s
Japanese theme that the whole magazine
has. I also added the black Japanese letter
over the top of the images and I believe
that had added multiple view points in one
spot and also made it busy and I wanted to
have a busy area.
Aesthetic Qualities
11. This is my second article that I have done
and with my articles I wanted them to look
the same almost but to be different stories
to once again keep that smart clean
professional look and I believe I have
achieved that. The editing that I have on
the big image is the same glitch effect that
is on the front cover and some of the other
images that are in the magazine. The
image on this has been edited a fair bit
with it been made black and white and
then added the glitch editing. I wanted to
have the text split into two because I
thought it would split up the text and
become easier to read.
Aesthetic Qualities
12. This is my second double page spread and my
favorite page inside of the magazine it is very
busy and crowded but I also believe that its not
hard to look at the colours that are used give a
effect that everything is blended in and very
clean. I also believe that the angles that I have
and different pictures of the car makes the
double page spread have more character and I
make sure that all the colours were close to
each other so that they all blended in with
each other so that the page didn’t look weird.
The text that I used is all in different fonts and
in different positions for example the Japanese
text is in a very bold font and has a black
outline around the text to make the text stand
out more to the eye
Aesthetic Qualities
13. Aesthetic
Qualities
This is my back cover of my magazine
and I really like this due to the use of
lines that direct your eye to the key
parts of the text but doesn’t pull your
attention away from the big bold title
that is at the top with the pale pink
outline that if you follow it will take you
down the line to the text that tells you
what's inside of the next magazine and
I believe that this is a good
advertisement for the next magazine
but isn’t too in your face and isn’t busy
at all and that gives it a calm serious
professional feel to the magazine and
the back cover which is always going to
be on display.
16. Technical Qualities
comparing
The theme that I have tried to go for with my magazine is 80s-90s japan and this is a very
small market to target when making an magazine and I believe that I have done a good job at
making a Japanese magazine but also making it have that 80s style to it. The similarities that
the magazine has with others in the same market is that on the front cover there is a
magazine image that is the main view point and little to no writing but also has Japanese text
also the images and front covers are usually dark in theme with bright colour as text and bold
writing as a font this allows the text to stand out with such a big eye catching image and not
have them be un comfy to look at and that’s what I have done on my magazine also inside
existing magazines they have very calm clean pages but also very loud and busy pages but
makes sure they are at a balance with each other so it doesn’t look messy and with my
magazine I have done that with the articles being very clean and smart and professional and
the double page spreads being very bust in places and giving the reader a lot to look at and
also the double page spreads have been placed in-between the articles to give the reader a
rest from the amounts of text and information that has been piled on inside the articles and in
doing so they are ready to read the next article.
17. Audience
Appeal
The survey that I did before my
production of my magazine most of the
people gave me the answers that I
wanted and helped me a lot to create
my magazine for example a lot of
people said they preferred images over
lots of text mad in doing so I added
more images to give it a better look.
Also a lot said that they wanted to learn
something from a magazine and that’s
why the articles that I have added are
full of interesting information and is stuff
that me myself learned a lot about when
doing research and I believe that the
reader will as well.

off that car
23. Peer Feedback Summary
When looking at my feedback I believe that I have done a good job and the things
that people don’t like some come down the personal preference and for my
feedback I also tried to get people that are in my target audience so that I could
get feedback from people that I would expect to read the magazine. The feedback
that I have got will help me in future projects if I do a magazine again I can adapt
my finale piece to the feedback I have got on this magazine.
