FEAR
SCP containment breach
Extinction: the fear of seizing to exist works well
with the game as there is an evil presents that can
kill you.
Mutilation: the evil presence is mutilated adding to the horror.
Loss of autonomy: This is one of the key fears as the game traps you in a
tight corridor.
Innate
Acquired
Uncanny: this is used with the photo realistic corridor as well as the
radio. The radio slowly becomes more twisted braking you out of
comfort.
Talk about how the story is strangely
structured through out the game.
Explain how the puzzles are cleverly created to be
solved with the characters exploration.
The fourth wall is broken many times to confuse and
disturb the player.
The looping corridor
is a key part of the
game which is
important to make
the play
uncomfortable.
Hidden messages through
out adds a level of
unease.
Talk about how the radio
starts to be a source of
comfort but eventually
becomes disturbing
The story is hinted with the moans,
cries, radio and dialogue.
Basic sounds are enhanced such as the creaking of the lamp
emphasizing the uncanny scenario.
Ambient sounds are used to make the
player tense as well tricking them
styles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6ak3ebBep0 While good blood colouring and
style is more towards the theme to
sonic, I include him here as he
portrays such a unique way to
visualising his narrative. The
animation is so fluid and enjoyable it
encourages the audience to take in
the information. I want to make
something similar but that relates
more towards my topic
I've analysed various
silent hill images with
coolers.co to help with
creating my colour
scheme. I've found that
the game uses very earth
like colours which I will
use for the background.
Some cut scenes have a
more cold colour scheme
contrasting with the
down to earth nature
which I will be using for
annotations.
Silent Hell of Cheryle looks very similar
to the games title making it suitable and
iconic. I will be using this font whenever I
want to highlight something important.
This could be used for when I create
titles.
Rusted Orlando look perfect for
animation as well as keeping with a silent
hill theme. I could use these for
annotations and maybe highlighting some
of my narration.
Poetsen One also has a fun font which
can be good for animation. The font it
self is very different to the theme
however this is for more formal
discussion such as statistics and research.
Mood board
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• I chose images to represent the style and mood of my factual piece. I chose many images from the silent hill franchise specifically Silent
Hill 2 and Silent Hills P.T. Most of silent hill 2 images are very gritty and set in very ruined urban streets covered with graffiti. This is
similar to how dark and dirty the corridor within P.T is following the same ruined structure. Another picture of a man within mist is
related to the world of silent hill as the game is covered with a thick fog.
• There are a couple of images that are projectors with damaged film. I chose these images as it captures the same dull broken mood as the
games.
• I also have images of screen glitches and coding which is related to P.T as the game sometimes messes with the screen to trick the player.
• The most repeated colour contrasting with the dull greys and blacks is red. This colouration is used a lot within the silent hill games as
blood, lights and furniture.
• I’ve chosen images such as the TV’s and consoles to show the progression with the silent hill games. The old Sony TV and ps2 represents
what silent hill 2 would’ve been played on while the flat screen TV and the ps4 represents P.T.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• The Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hills P.T images represent the areas of where I’m showing my gameplay or found footage of the game. The
gritty and dark setting of the images can also represent the style of my product.
• I can stylize my visual presentation to look like an old projector with damaged footage. This style can be used as a filter over my non
silent hill footage keeping a consistent tone. I can also use these for transitions.
• The image of the screen glitch can also be used for transitions as its reminiscent towards the P.T game.
• When I talk about the context behind silent hill 2 ill be using the image of the 2001 T.V and play my found footage over it. This will stay
away from copyright and will show what the game would look have looked like at the time. I will do the same with P.T but within the
newer flat screen T.V keeping with the style.
• The grey tones will be used as a background while I use red lettering to annotate certain videos and images.
Mood board analysis
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2cK8mOG4Q8 (Sep 2018) Silent hill theme – Ill use the start
of the song as an intro as its iconic to the series giving an overall mood to my product. The opening
starts with an old string solo which is chilling yet melodic and classy. This is perfect to my video as I
want something enjoyable and informal rather then being scary. I will use this music as an outro to
finish with the iconic sound track.
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LB7LZZGpkw (Sep 2018) Theme of Laura – I want to use
this theme when introduce my topic of discussion to emphasize how its important and that the song
heavily relates to second silent hill. This theme is very up beat and adventures which works well for an
introduction.
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8QTDnqWAEk (Sep 2018) Promise – ill use this the song
when I go deep into explaining the context behind silent hill and there games. This song works well to
add mysterious atmosphere its very low key. For this effect I can use many of Akira Yamaoka ambient
music to my narrative.

A plan for your video. What is the purpose of the video, what is you intended direction, what are you trying to say?
Content research:
What materials and info do you need for your production? The core of a good factual project is doing the background work in terms of
researching the topic and getting the right contributors. Use this and additional slides to collect this. Reference your sources.
Concept Boards:
A range of ideas to take forward in to production. Should include images, colour schemes and font choices. Could include mock ups and
evidence of existing design work which is inspiring you.
