2. International Yoga Day 2021
• International Yoga Day is an annual event
that is celebrated every year on 21 June.
• The idea of International Yoga Day was
conceived by Prime Minister Shri.
Narendra Modi, who proposed the
concept on September 27, 2014, during
his speech at the UN General Assembly.
3. • This resolution received support from 177
nations, the highest number of co-sponsors
for any UN Resolution.
• Today we are celebrating the 7th International
Yoga Day
7. Alternative system of medicines
• Ministry of AYUSH works under Ministry of Health
and Family welfare, Government of India
continuously working to promote the alternative
system of medicines i.e. Ayurveda, Yoga &
Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathic
system of medicines
• In today’s scenario, calling these system as
alternative, its wrong because as modern system
of medicine these are also used in prevention,
mitigation, treatment and diagnosis of diseases.
8. YOGA
• Numerous yoga asanas are there. Each asana has
its health benefits. Some are good for digestive
system, some for respiratory system and so on
• Makes body flexible
• Improve stamina
• Increase activeness
• Beneficial for both physical and mental health
which makes us socially good
