PREFACE
The human brain is divided into two parts, the right brain and the left brain. The
features of the right brain are characterized by the emotional quotient, and the left
by one’s intelligence quotient. Functions of the right brain are creativity, rest and
relaxation, satsang, ideal life style, whereas functions of the left brain are reading,
writing and a competitive lifestyle.
Altered lifestyle of the modern day imbalance functions of the right and left brain,
which in turn leads to disease. When both hemispheres of the brain are in harmony,
man enjoys health. Yoga is the ancient tool to balance the right and left brain, called
Samathvam in Yoga.
The 7th International day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated all over the world to bring
awareness about the benefits of yoga among the common man.
The SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Ujire being a premiere
college of the country offering Graduate, Post Graduate& doctoral courses in the
field of Naturopathy & Yoga have taken the responsibility of organizing this
program with a view to create an awareness about the benefits of yoga among the
youth and to have a healthy, positive and focussed youth for the future.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF IDY -2021
The main objective behind International Day of Yoga is to make this ancient
practice popular among the present generation of people who are unaware of its
benefits. Adopting this practice is believed to provide significant relief from
physical ailments and mental tension which plagues our day to day life. A list of in
depth objectives behind observing this day is as below:
1. International Day of Yoga aims to educate people about the various means of
overcoming stress naturally without resorting to any artificial medicine.
2. International Day of Yoga aims to develop the habit of meditation among
youngsters so that they can enjoy more peace of mind and self-awareness,
which is essential for a stress-free existence.
3. Yoga helps to keep the internal organs in the body to function properly by
increasing oxygenation and blood flow. This helps diminish the occurrence of
major diseases related to the heart, lungs, kidneys and other vital organs.
4. Yoga practitioners believe that when a person connects his mind and soul
with Mother Nature, he achieves a greater level of consciousness which helps
him to be at peace with his surroundings. This level of consciousness would
invariably lead to world peace as more and more people start practicing
Yoga.
5. Practicing yoga would lead to stronger bonds between people from different
background, irrespective of caste, religion or language barriers. It would help
to promote the feeling of communal harmony and create a conjugal
atmosphere for global peace.
6. International Day of Yoga aims to make the practice of yoga popular among
people in different parts of the world. People are educated regarding this
practice so that they have a correct opinion about this form of well-being,
which is not only easy to practice but is also extremely effective on a long
term basis.
In short International Day of Yoga aims to bring different communities around the
globe together through the practice of yoga, eliminating all types of negativity from
their lives and gain control over their emotions as well as health ailments which
often acts as the major hindrance in our path of self-development.
