2. Primary audience
• My primary audience is young adults who want to watch
an action orientated film set in a Post-Apocalyptic
environment. The age group being roughly 16-25. What
this audience typically wants is an action packed film with
narrative that’s generally easy to understand without
putting too much thinking into it, this is why I must find a
simple way to explain the background of my film (unsure
what subgenre I will go with, but I suppose I could ask this
in my questioner or focus group). The audience is mostly
male but some females also enjoy Post-Apocalyptic films,
thus I must make sure to carefully think about the
presentation of both genders in my film as not to offend
the female portion of the audience.
3. Secondary Audience
• My secondary audience is anyone who enjoys Post-
Apocalyptic fiction, this is a rather niche audience with
each subgenre having its own dedicated fandom. The
only mainstream subgenre seems to be zombie
apocalypse films, where as some fans of that may not like
a Post-Nuclear film and vice versa, I will think about this
once my primary audience has decided which subgenre
they would like to see.
4. Demographics
• My target audience is in the lower ends of the demographics,
coming in as grades D and E (with possibly some C2). Being
far from the economic top I predict they may like the concept
of a collapse of civilisation where class is a long dead
concept and one’s survival depends on their skills with a
weapon, Also considering that the younger end of my target
audience enjoys action packed films, I must remember all
this for the later questioning task and come up questions that
test my theories.
5. Psychographics
• Psychographics are difficult to point out, but after a bit of
thinking and considering the facts, I believe that my target
audience will most likely be Mainstreamers and Explorers.
• Mainstreamers because the zombie subgenre of
Apocalypse is the most popular one, with the mainstream
audience being able to enjoy it.
• Explorers because of the sense of mystery that an
Apocalyptic film creates, always leaving questions in the
minds of those watching, creating debates between
viewers on what it is that they see. I will conceding this
when writing the script and storyboarding.
6. Certification
• I think that the certification of my film would be 12 or 15 as
younger children might find the concepts of my film
confusing or scary, The minimal gore as aftermath of the
fight scene may also not be suitable for minors, thus I
have decided to put the age restriction on one of these
two categories. I would go with 15 because my target
audience is mostly older than that, but considering the
worse this film would produce is slight violence gore, I will
instead go with 12.
