Who would be the audience for
your media product?-Untitled
The target audience for my opening sequence is roughly the same as
the target audience for books, everyone. My film would be targeted
towards the demographic Groups A, B, C1, D & E. This is because I feel
that well paid professionals, fairly well paid professionals, ‘White collar’
professions and students. The kinds of people that would watch my film
may in particular be the younger generation as they see going to the
cinema as a social gathering. The older people in my audience would
also go to the cinema to see it as going to the cinema would be seen as a
welcome break from work. All people of varying ethnicities, incomes,
social class, gender, age and disabilities would watch it as it is primarily
about books which appeal to everyone.
My film would be targeted at very much a mass audience however
some of my techniques used to try and attract or appeal to the audience
may only apply to a niche audience. My main protagonist is seen as a shy
lonely character that the audience are supposed to have a neutral
feeling towards. The kind of people that would watch my film would be
fans of existing thrillers such as: Inception, Limitless, Hannibal and
Shutter Island. My film was initially intended to be a psychological
thriller however it may not have turned out that way. Overall my
secondary audience would be fans of the hybrid genre Thriller,
Psychological Thriller being the sub-genre.
I think that my opening sequence fits in with the genre Thriller or
Psychological Thriller as I have mainly used mysterious low-key lighting
which is a typical attribute of Thriller films. The majority of my target
audience would be internet users and magazine readers who would see
advertisements in the magazines, online or on social networking sites.
