Who would be the
audience for your
Thriller product ?
Media AS Evaluation- By Fin Moores
Certification of Films
This is presented before a trailer to
inform the audience who it is approved
for.
Examine the age classifications for films – what age rating
would let you make the type of film you want to.
• The age rating that I would make my opening sequence would be 12A- 15
depending on the choices that were to be made later on in the product.
• Certain ages prefer certain types of movies. For instance,Toddlers to young
children like watching Disney movies such asToys story, Frozen and the BFG.
• Teenagers and above start to become interested in thrillers, horrors and sci-
fi, as well as comedies and action and adventure. Examples of films my
friends recommended were;Twilight, Harry Potter, Avengers, Pirates of the
Caribbean andWanted.
Research thrillers that you think are aimed at an
audience that you would like to attract. Who are
the audience – how is this clear in the thriller films?
• I found many films that have a similar concept, but the three I will be talking about are
the most similar.
• The first movie I came across that was very similar was Inception, the reason this film
is very similar, is because they use very advanced technology to enter a dream world.
• The second movie that I found was very similar was,The Matrix, this once again is very
similar as they use technology throughout the whole film, to yet again enter the
dream world.
• The last movie that I came across, which is different to the others but uses the same
concept of being hacked. I, robot, is the movie I chose because the robots in it are
hacked just like Rhydian’s laptop in my opening sequence.
• https://youtu.be/YoHD9XEInc0- Inception
• https://youtu.be/vKQi3bBA1y8- Matrix
• https://youtu.be/s0f3JeDVeEo- I, robot
Audience profile
This is a typical person that I thought would watch
thriller on a regular basis. This persons interests are
taking photographs, drawing and playing video games
(thriller based ones especially). As you can see their
dress sense is very trendy and casual.
This persons favourite entertainment is thriller series
for example; the walking dead, Oj Simpson vs the
people and prison break.
The age of this person is late teens- around 17-19.
The reason they like my product is because they enjoy
thrillers and prefer watching something that’ll keep
them on edge.
Evaluation
• After completing this task I have taught myself
information about movie ratings and how I can make a
production for a specific age group so it entertains them.
Moreover I have also learnt how similar movies can be by
using small aspects such as the technology that linked our
production with I, robot.
