1. QUESTION 3 – WHAT DID
YOU LEARN FROM
AUDIENCE FEEDBACK.
SYMON AGUILAR
2. Through the course of my work I have managed to collect a wide
variety of audience feedback. These are people that are my audience
and those who are not my audience. For my Music Video of ‘Lucky
Strike’ I had the genre of Pop, within this we had young teenage
females as our target audience, due to the fact that we had an
attractive male who would be an eye candy to our audience.
3. In the beginning of the process of the music video we had chosen male
teenagers as our target audience. This is because Maroon 5 is a band, young
males generally listen to bands. But after a few research we had found out
that most of the audience of Maroon 5 are Females, I found this out through
YouTube as most of the people were commenting and there was also a large
amounts of young females tweeting the band and the artist itself Adam
Levine. Social Networking sites have been a major factor to research on the
audience. These includes websites such as twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
This is because social networking sites has allowed us to gain a wider and
larger feedback on our video. After posting our Music Video on YouTube we
had managed to get 67 views and 4 likes, this has allowed me to know that
some people admire our music video. The problem with this is that it does
not give us a view on the category of people that watch our music video.
4. During our audience feedback I carried out a focus groups on their
opinion of the rough cut of our music video. My focus group was very
honest in their answers as they have provided information about the
weaknesses of the video and told us the strengths of the video and also
provide advice on how we can improve our music video. The way that
we had organised our focused groups is by allowing them to watch the
video that we had filmed before and we would ask a couple of
questions and provide feedback.
5. THESE WERE SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WE ASKED OUR TARGET
AUDIENCE.
• What is your initial first impression of the music video?
• Did you like or have any interest in the video?
• Do you have an understanding of the music video?
• The genre of the music video was pop. Do you think we represented
that well and if not what genre do you think this music video would
go under?
• What do you think we did well and what were our weaknesses?
6. With the questions we wanted first find out if we were carrying the
music video in the right direction, this is by adding themes and for the
music video to be recognised as a pop genre music video and for the
narrative to be understood by the audience. From the questionnaires I
had found out that some of our audience had a hard time
understanding the music video, this meant that our music video did not
have a strong narrative which we had to go back and work on.
7. We provided our audience feedback by videoing, whilst watching the
videos we would record their reaction and this also allowed the people
to see our target audiences appearance. But we also took feedback
from those who were not our target market as this could allow a wider
audience for the music video.
