2. Song Choice
• This process was useful as I could understand which song was most popular,
how old the people who listened to it were and what genres they also enjoyed.
Therefore I gained a better understanding of what audience I was creating the
video for.
• Examples of questions I asked were ‘What images did this song create for
you’ which was useful as I could develop an idea of what mis en scene could
be relevant for the video. ‘What genre would you usually listen to?’ and ‘What
is your age’ were useful questions for understanding what audience I would be
appealing to for the most popular song outcome, which was Bad Decisions.
• The first feedback I gained was to understand what song to make my music video to. To do this I asked a wide audience
of people questions about their opinions of songs and what they could imagine coming from them as a music video.
• To do this I uploaded three audio files of potential songs to my blog along with a link to a questionnaire I created with
the use of Survey Monkey.
3. Research into Target Audience
• The next step of interaction with my
audience was understanding further what
would appeal to them and incorporating it
into my music video.
• To do this I carried out research, visiting
fan websites of Two Door Cinema Club
and looking at comments and opinions of
the audience I was trying to reach out to.
• This was a useful stage as understood the
audience I was targeting my video at better.
4. Responses/Feedback to the First Draft
• Perhaps the most useful piece of audience feedback that I received was the criticism of the first draft of my music
video.
• After creating the first draft I wanted to gain a real understanding of what people thought of my music video,
specifically those in my target audience which was teenagers and young adults.
• I received a number of replies to the questions I asked with
helpful opinions. I wanted to find out if my video successfully
fitted a pop genre, what aspects the audience enjoyed, and what
parts were to be improved.
• I was happy with the constructive feedback I got and built on it
for my final edit, making the improvements that had been
recommended to me by my audience. An example of this was
that I added variations to the reflected face so it wasn’t the same
all the way through. I also shorted the amount of time the shot
of the screen lasted before it turned off at the end of the video.
