In present simple, the verb changes only
in third person singular (he, she, it, a
person, a thing), where it gets the suffix -
s or -es.

1. For the negative and
interrogative forms, DOES (=
third person of the auxiliary 'DO')
+ the infinitive of the verb is
used.
SHe wants ice
cream. Does She want

want vanilla.
2. Verbs that end in -y: in the
third person of the singular, the -
y is changed by -ies:
fly --> flies, cry --> cries
Exception: when a vowel
precedes the -y:
play -> plays, pray -> prays
3. We add -es to the verbs that
end in: -ss, -x, -sh, -ch:
