This appearance of Jennifer
Lawrence shows her in a dangerous
position. She is running which
connotes that she is in trouble. Her
face is a look of panic and
concentration at the same time. This
shows that she is determined to get
out of the dangerous position she is
in. Furthermore the clothing she is
wearing is practical gear which is
useful to her in the hunger games.
The surrounding are a wooded area
which suggests quite but in fact it is
quite the opposite.

3. Nervous
This image of Jennifer Lawrence
suggests that she is currently safe
but her face is showing she is
nervous because she knows she will
be in danger soon. Secondly she is
dressed smartly which connotes she
is an important character in the
film. The environment that she is in
is a studio where she is being
interviewed about the hunger
games. The lighting on her is quite
bright which suggests that she is
centre of attention.

4. Ashamed
This picture of Jennifer Lawrence shows
her looking at the dead child. She is
ashamed she could not protect the child
who represents her sister back home.
This connotes that she may be against
her in the game because there can only
be one winner but she is degusted at the
game which has been set up by the
capitol. She is almost looking in anger at
what the capitol are doing. The
surroundings are the woods again but
you can see the sun in the background
but the main camera focus point is on
the two girls and they are in the shade
which represents the darkness of what is
going on.

This still connotes the anger that Katniss is
feeling and she is firing the arrow at the
capitol because she is so enraged by them.
You can tell how angry she is by looking at the
way she is gritting her teeth. Furthermore the
camera angle is pointing down the arrow
which creates an even more powerful
statement. The props that are being used in
this still are the bow and arrow and without
them in the film it would not work. The bow
and arrow are plain silver which is showing
that the capitol do not want to provide them
with expensive weapons because they want
to further insult them and punish them.

6. Simon Pegg as Nicolas Angel in Hot Fuzz
In this still Simon Pegg is in a
powerful situation. You can tell that
Nicolas Angel feel really powerful
with all of the guns and grenades.
Secondly the background of the still is
blurred which means the whole
concentration is on Nicolas which
gives him even more power. The
brightness of the still connotes a
normal day apart from the fact that
there is a man with a bunch of guns
in the middle of the street.

7. Unhappy
This picture of Simon connotes
that he is board and annoyed
that he has to go and police a
small town which has no
violence or crime. You can tell
this from the still because he is
frowning his eyes. This makes
his face look dark and lost. He
is holding a plant which
represents all of the memories
from London and that is all that
he has left from it. The

train which is showing he is
travelling away from the life he
loves and into the unknown.

can tell that Nicolas is in pain
because of the way his mouth is
wide open screaming and his eyes

serious situation of a stabbing put
into a funny situation with the
criminal dressed as Father
Christmas. The whole of the film
Hot Fuzz is based on horrific
violence which is put in a funny
situation. It is very cleaver how

determination. You can tell this by
the fact that he has his mouth

uniform which connotes power.

This still connotes importance. This is
because James Bond is wearing a suit
and bow tie. He is also clean shaven
which all connotes importance. The
background of this still is in some sort of
restaurant which looks posh which fits
in with James’ appearance. The lighting
is quite dark which could represent
hiding which fits in with a spy. The
props used in this still picture are
glasses with some sort of champagne in
which once again connotes importance
and wealth.

shows the audience what a perilous

mystery. The way that the lighting
is creating a silhouette of James’

determination and concentration.

passage to success for the spy. As
the audience you cannot see the
costume that James is wearing
and this adds to the mystery and
darkness of this still.

This image connotes violence and action.
The background of this still is a train
going through a forest. This is important
because it is showing if one of them fall
of the train then they will be in the
middle of nowhere. The lighting of this
still is bright which shows that it is not
the most dangerous situation of the
whole film. There are no props in this
scene because it adds to the suspense of
the scene and the audience can
concentrate on the fighting scene. The
costumes that they are both wearing are
smart suits which shows that the villain
is not just a bottom of the chain villain
he is actually quite a powerful villain.
