2. OUR COMPANY
Our company is called Triumph and we are an independent film
production company.
3. OUR OPENING
The final choice for our opening was to involve the villain and love
interest. The hero and love interest are together and she is the villains
ex girlfriend. The villain is still obsessed with her even 3 years after they
have broken up.
The opening begins with a montage of the photos and other objects
linked to the love interest going into a scrapbook. These include shots
of the villain scribbling and ripping up photos of her which shows that
he does not like her as she now is with someone else. The screen then
cuts out to black. The opening restarts showing the same girl from the
photos walking home from work. She rings/texts her boyfriend and tells
him she is going home and then will meet him at 7. As she begins to
walk home we see cross cutting between her and the villain entering her
house. He begins to root through her things before hiding in her
bedroom. She comes home and is unsuspecting. She walks up the
stairs and into her room to find him. She is then shot. The screen cuts
out again and the final shot shows the clock turning to 7.
4. OUR FILM
The overall film would then follow the boyfriend (hero) as he
seeks revenge on the man that killed his girlfriend.
5. QUESTIONNAIRE
RESULTS
We researched what people want to see in a thriller film. The
results showed that most people watching a thriller are
teenage males that expect violence and suspense in the film.
It also showed that most people believe a thriller should be
set at night, and should include the characters of a hero,
villain and love interest.
6. LOCATIONS
We have chosen to film our opening in a dark street at night
and a normal house. This is to conform to the idea that
thrillers are set in ordinary situations. The dark street will
build the mystery and suspense and the house will contrast
this and provide a setting in which the love interest would
not feel threatened in to begin with.
7. COSTUMES
• LOVE INTEREST- The love interest will be wearing work
clothes such as a pencil skirt and a shirt (business wear).
• VILLAIN- The villain will be wearing dark clothing to
portray his shady personality and character.
8. THEMES
The themes communicated in our opening are:
• Identity
• Revenge
9. TARGET AUDIENCE
Our thriller is suitable for our audience as our questionnaire
revealed that our target audience expected a hero, villain and
love interest, which we have included. They also expected
the use of black and white and low key lighting, which we
have incorporated into our opening as well as violence and
the use of guns. Due to the violence in our film we have
decided to rate it a 15.
