The props used in the images are typical
iconography of a thriller film i.e. the
knife and the gun these both are
conventions as they heighten the sense
of anticipation and fear for the viewers.
I have used pictures of blood as we will
be using this in the second half of our
thriller film. It is shown on steps in a
dark and dingy place where our second
half will be set. We have chosen to use
blood as it add to the suspense and
tension. It also gives connotations of
danger and gives the audience a
heightened sense for fear for he
protagonist.
The girl running through the woods is
what our protagonist does in the
beginning of our film as she is running
away from something unknown.
The theme being black white and red
gives the correct connotations
connected with our film the white could
portray the god within the evil, Alice
being the good and the evil being her
past. The black gives connotations of
the unknown, power and mystery which
is a big convention of thriller films and
our thriller film. The red blood and tint
on the windmill gives connotations of
danger and could foreshadow she's
going to get hurt inside.
Where the film is set has a big impact on a
thriller film in order for it to create
suspense. For example, there is a black and
white photo of a windmill which I used as it
looks similar to the one we will be using to
film outside of. Its shown as if its towering
over the audience with a low angle shot,
and therefore could portray its power and
foreshadow later events. This makes the
audience feel venerable, which is a typical
convention of a thriller film.
The women shown to be with their hands
on their head are clearly in distress, it also
gives a sense of madness. This portrays our
character Alice well as she is distressed for
an unknown reason and is also shown to be
in a hospital which could be imply she's
gone mad. (that also explains the picture
of the girl in hospital).
There is a picture of a girl in an abandoned
house as this was one of our options for
our setting if the windmill didn't work out
however luckily it did. There is a dark dingy
road which has associations with danger as
people always say not to walk home alone
in the dark which makes the audience
worry for the protagonist. This is because
stereotypically women are shown to be
victims and need to be looked after,
therefore putting her in this situation she
would be seen as very vulnerable.
Analysis of our mood board for our thriller
film
Daisy
The character is very important, she is a young women which
add further atmosphere. It shows her in a stereotypical way of
someone who needs to be saved as she's running away from
the danger. The girl holding a knife and a gun creates suspense,
stereotypically you wouldn’t expect to see this and makes the
audience worry for her sanity.
