2. Mind Maps/Brainstorms
Star by using the first few slides to create mind
maps and or brainstorms for ideas related to
your project. Get as many possibilities as you
can.
Don’t worry about practicality, suitability or
potential at this stage. You will assess the ideas
later.

6. Idea Evaluation
Which of your ideas do you want to develop further? Explain why you think that is
the right idea to take forward.
I think I would like to take forward my website idea and re design The
Commercial Inn website. The business is in need of a website and a serious
update to its online image. I think making a website would give me a lot of
options when creating. I also have some experience using wix. The website
would allow me to create a new home page, show off the pub and
potentially even add my own menus and adverts. This project could also
include me creating poster designs and other documents for the pub.
7. Development
• Development should include mood boards or other visual
examples of work. It could include basic mock ups of your
vision for the project using the work of others.
• These don’t need to be the same quality as your finished
pieces but they a good indicator of where your project is
going.
• As this is not final work, it may include work from others.
• You could include test work or practice work here too to
further develop your skills.
9. Developed Idea 1
x
Image turned in to a sketch will be faded back in to a
traditional looking menu. This gives the menu a old school
look and a traditional feel.
11. Developed Idea 2
I like these website designs that
follow a simple layout but look
effective. I especially like
interactive features in the
website. I aim to create a
colorful, aesthetically pleasing
site that most importantly
works effectively and easily
navigated.
12. Developed Idea 2
The different areas of the site will be set
up in a similar way to the images shown
here. The site will have contact details
offers menus location etc.
13. Developed Idea 2
I have noticed a lot of pub sites tend to
follow the same template pattern or be
essentially the same website as other
pubs. The site I create aims to give a
real unique feel as the commercial is a
unique pub.
14. Assessment of final ideas
Suitability for audience:. Do you think your audience will engage with your ideas?
Suitability for client: Does your idea fulfil the brief your client gave you?
Timescales: Is your project practical and manageable in the time you have?
15. I think my project is mostly suitable for my audience as having a good website
will no doubt be better for the pub. However I cant deny the fact that the
majority of the commercials business comes from regulars as it is the local place
to go in the town. I do think the audience will engage with my ideas, since Owen
took over the pub has made several moves at turning in to a proper food pub
and as it goes in this direction a lot of customers will be looking the place up
before they eat there. Therefore the audience will frequently be looking at and
using the pubs website especially new customers. In terms of making and
creating the project I think I have just about enough time to create the website
however it will be questionable as to whether I will have time to create adverts
and a menu.
16. Production Schedule:
You should prepare a production schedule that will allow you to manage your time over
the 4 weeks of production. This should include:
• Deadlines: Interim deadlines help you keep on track, final deadlines are final.
• Availability: The availability of the client and any other people you may need to help
you with your project. You will need to contact them. You might to do visit. You may
need to liaise with models, or photographers.
• Feedback: This is a working brief with a real client. You will need to get feedback on
your work and also allow yourself time to make appropriate changes. Plan appropriate
time in to you schedule so that you can do this.
• Resources: You should include a list of resources that you will need to complete your
project. Remember that this all needs to be your own work
17. Week 1
The first steps of my project will be
creating the website and taking all
the images I will need at the pub.
To do this I will be borrowing a
camera from college and using my
day of Tuesday to take a lot of
photos of every aspect of the pub. I
will take photos of everything so I
have a lot of material to work with
in website design.
