5. Maintenance
MindMap Overview Process Summary
The aim of maintenance is to keep the site robust and at the status of
normal operation by replacing components under controlled conditions, i.e.
scheduled, budgeted and approved.
Therefore, the maintenance plan for site systems should be carried out
according to best practice and compliant to the instructions of the vendor.
All work is governed by on-site work rules and should be performed under a
permit to work system by authorized persons.

6. Coromatic Group Common definitions of Maintenance
Reactive
• Corrective only (no PPM)
– Maintenance is only carried out following detection of an
anomaly and aimed at restoring normal operating
conditions.
– The approach is based on the belief that investments
required for a planned preventive maintenance program
are higher than cost for downtime and repairs.
– May be cost-effective for sites and systems that are not
mission critical.
• Preventive (PPM)
– Maintenance carried out at predetermined intervals or
according to prescribed criteria, aimed at reducing the
failure risk or performance degradation of the assets.
– The maintenance cycles are planned according to the
need to take the device out of service.
– The risk for operating faults is reduced.
Proactive
• Condition-based
(requires Site Management by Customer or Coromatic)
– Maintenance is carried out by performing Technical Risk
Reviews and asset condition tests to define the appropriate
PPM and change-out forecast.
– Makes it possible to extend the useful life and over time
guarantee high levels of site reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Predictive
(requires OC from Coromatic or similar monitoring)
– Continuous online monitoring of actual site supply system
condition and automatic comparison with average values and
expected performance.
– Maintenance is carried out when failure probability indicators
are increasing.
– Allows for drastically reduced long-term costs and minimizing
occurrence of serious faults while optimizing lifecycle
management and financial management.

7. Lessons learned / Customer experiences
“We have the largest site on this remote Island. Our site works
very well despite being more than 15 years old.
The reason is that we consider our site like a vintage car – we
constantly assess the condition of its systems and maintain
them accordingly – this means exchanging spare parts before
site systems actually breakdown.
We’d rather have an old ‘car’ we know and love, than a new
one that we need to replace every few years because its
electronics breakdown without us being able to repair it…”
8. Final notes
• There are much higher requirements on the Site
Management Function if there are several suppliers that
maintain the different categories of site systems. This is
because it has to independently identify dependencies and
mitigate potential technical issues between different
service requests for maintenance across the site systems
• On-site works should always include updating and finalizing
related documentation and service records
