CATEGORIES……..
In the Sanskrit literature here are three terms
for tourism with the suffix “ATANA” meaning
going or leaving home for some other place.

SECTORS
• HEALTH BASED TOURS-(yoga, meditation and
relaxation). This has been gaining a lot of
importance nowadays in this stress-filled world.
• India is popularizing as a health destination for
many tourist .Eg, Kerala is flourishing with its back
waters and ayurvedic massages.
7. • ECOTOURISM is a form of tourism involving
visiting fragile, pristine, and usually
protected areas, intended as a low impact
and often small scale alternative to standard
commercial tourism. Its purpose may be to
educate the traveler, to provide funds for
ecological conservation, to directly benefit
the economic development and political
empowerment of local communities, or to
foster respect for different cultures and for
human rights
8. • SPORTS BASEDTOURS-which include skiing,
surfing, swimming, under water activities
like snorkeling, etc
9. • WILDLIFE TOURS- exploring the wildlife of the
country.
• India has a wide range of wildlife sanctuaries.
10. BEACH TOURS- this remains one of the main
attraction for tourists-the sun and the sea.
11. • HERITAGE TOURS-explores historical and
cultural heritage of our country.
• In India we have innumerable historical
monuments, forts and palaces coupled with
numerous festivals and carnivals which
highlights our handicrafts, dance and music.
12. • HILL STATION TOURS-popular for its calm
scenic beauty, where people can relax in the
lap of nature and the adventurous ones can
go on long nature walks or treks.
