To What Extent Did The Union Win The Civil War
The Union s layout for winning the war included several main strategies. Utilizing its superior navy,
the North would blockade Southern ports to prevent supplies from reaching the South, as well as to
impede the South from earning revenue by exporting cotton. Cotton remained a significant factory in
the establishment of slavery and South s agricultural economic system. Raw materials, especially
cotton were shipped to a textile mill in the North but the majority of what the South produced was
exported. Gaining control of the Mississippi River was another significant and necessary Union
strategy as it would fracture Southern lines. Finally, the North planned to capture Richmond, the
Confederate capital. The South s primary aim was to maintain

The Fear Of Death In The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Stalker
Nature, a beautiful yet mysterious part of life that all humans can interpret in different ways. Thanks
to the nature around us, man has been able to fortify what we have and advance in unimaginable ways.
For as long as man has been on earth, inhabitants have been able to explore, interpret, and learn in
areas like religion, relationships and educational advancement. However, the constant fear of death is
always in the back of our minds. With so many advances today, it distracts many of us from noticing
where things all began and came from, nature. That is why, man has created so many different
advances that help us forget our inevitable end. In the Epic of Gilgamesh and the movie Stalker
written by Andrei Tarkovski, both works remind audiences of how people have always used
technology to distract us from the thought of dying. These distractions like, religion, relationships,
education do occupy a huge portion of our life but cannot change our end result; death. A huge
advancement in technology is relationships. No matter what the relationship is between humans have
been building for centuries. These relationships that are created help advance us by disguising our
Deaths. Death is something that people have feared since the beginning of time. In the Epic of
Gilgamesh , the main character is a widely loved and also feared. The relationships Gilgamesh created
helped him build up his city, protect his people from intruders, and find a best friend. However, his

The Cold War Period ( 1945-1991 )
Since the Cold War period (1945 1991) the international community has faced a plethora of
challenges, none greater than the current, and rapidly growing threat of climate change. In this essay,
climate change will be acknowledged as a legitimate phenomenon, which is presently faced by the
global population. Described as a shift in the Earth s weather patterns over a time scale spanning
longer than a decade, climate change is directly related to the variation in quantities of extreme
weather events worldwide. This paper will specifically argue on the consequences of these extreme
weather events which have the potential to destabilise and weaken nations. Along with prospectively
injuring the lives of many civilians and forcing them to flee their State, in search of safety in that of
neighbouring countries, this resulting in the security threat and crisis of climate refugees.
Corresponding to these threats is the challenge of cooperation under anarchy, as climate change is that
of a global commons concern. Climate change possesses the ability to significantly pose a threat to all
humans, and in a world of international anarchy. Compiling with States and Nations looking to further
their own agenda, it presents another dimension of complexity, which showcases the difficulties, need
and importance of addressing what is known to be the most significant international relation issue of
our time.
Whilst change in the Earth s temperature has varied throughout the course of history,

Mission Work as a Group
Social groups describe who we are as individuals. Every person is involved in multiple social groups
whether they realize it or not. Some social groups can be determined by a broad spectrum or a narrow
spectrum. Social groups can be spread out throughout different regions as well as an entire nation as a
whole. Every person who attends North Carolina State University is part of the same social group.
That social group can be broken down into many smaller groups, such as the individual colleges in the
University. Within those smaller groups of the different colleges, the groups can even be divided into
smaller groups by major, and then again by concentration. Every person belongs to dozens of social
groups without even realizing.
The social group that has played a huge role in my life is the one of people who has participated in
mission work. Mission work is something that has been very vital in my life ever since I was a little
girl in middle school. I do not know what my life would be today without being part of groups that did
service projects, and volunteer work as well as on many occasions spreading the knowledge of
Christianity. I have been a part of two groups in particular that have truly changed the way I look at
life and how I view other people. Tungsten Baptist Church and First Baptist Youth Group have both
been very influential on life and I cannot imagine my life without these. I started going to Tungsten
Baptist Church when I was just a baby

Tom Brennan Analysis
The novel The Story of Tom Brennan by J.C. Burke, focuses on a devastating car accident in a small
town, caused by one character who was drink driving. This one event has an extreme effect on a
family, who struggle to come to grips with the situation. Tom and Kylie struggle to begin their new
life at their Gran s place in Coghill, after moving there from their home in the small town of Mumbilli.
In Coghill, Tom and Kylie also start at St. Benedict s where they react so differently to the same
scenario. The author J.C. Burke used emotive and descriptive dialogue, first person narration and
symbolism to demonstrate just how differently people can react to the same situation.
Burke uses various techniques such as descriptive and emotive dialogue and first person narration to
portray just how differently Tom and Kylie react to their family s move from Mumbilli to Coghill. The
Brennan family left their home in the dead of night, and moved to Coghill, to escape the pressure and
anger that they faced from the small community in Mumbilli. After Daniel s accident and sentence, the
house was no longer a safe place for the family, especially for the children Tom and Kylie. Even
though the children were faced with grave danger in Mumbilli, the place was still somewhere they
loved and enjoyed. This is what made the move to Coghill difficult for the children. Tom especially
struggles with the situation, as he is distraught and depressed after the accident. The move makes this

Alcohol Consumption Of Underage College Students
Method
Participants
Approximately 150 college students will participate in the proposed study, 75 males and 75 females.
The participants will range from 18 to 21 years of age. Participants will be in equal amounts from each
residence hall in the University of Houston which underage students reside in as well as off campus
residents. The group criteria will be limited to students under the age of 21 with equal amounts of
males and females. Participation in the study will be voluntary. The incentive for this study is if they
choose to participate, then they will receive a gift card. The proposed study will attempt to observe the
difference between the alcohol consumption of residents of on campus
Design
The study will be an experimental between subjects design. There will be one independent variables
and it will have two levels. The independent variable will be the residency type of the student (On
campus and Off campus). The residency type will be determined through a survey before choosing the
participants. The dependent variable will be the alcohol consumption. Alcohol consumption will be
tested through ETG testing.
Procedure
Participants will be voluntary and brought in with the incentive of receiving a gift card at the end of
the study. There will be 150 participants; 75 males and 75 females, all under 21. The large number of
participants reduces the amount of variability and gives a more accurate portrayal of underage college

Explain What Role Did Your Race Class Or Gender Play In...
Did you learn to swim as a child? If so, ask your parents why they made sure you learned to swim. If
you did not, ask your parents why you never learned to swim. What role (if any) did your race, class,
or gender play in you learning or not learning to swim as a child? As a child I never learned how to
swim, but I was always so fascinated by swimmers. My mother said that learning to swim was just
never a priority for us. I think the role race played in my case was, since I am hispanic other sports
were more followed. Like for example I grew up playing soccer, I was part of a soccer team up until
8th grade. I was brought into what could be seen as the sport of Latinos. At a young age, swimming
around me was never talked about as a sport or competition. It was seen as a pastime or to simply
learn.

Strange Fruit Sexism
Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday Billie Holiday was a well known jazz singer who was born in
Pennsylvania on April 7, 1915. She was also known as Elanora Fagon in which unfortunately had
fallen victim in her life towards the addiction of heroin. In conjunction with her addiction, she
developed a criminal record due to her numerous arrests relating to her drug abuse and prostitution.
She eventually checked herself into an institution to help break her addiction. However, at the young
age of forty four she died from congestion of the lungs which had stemmed from having heart failure.
Billie s life was filled with trials and tribulations. Throughout her life she had dealt with racism,
sexism, and poverty. Billie dropped out of school in the fifth grade to run errands in a brothel, and
then at the age of twelve she was arrested for prostitution. Around 1930 she started singing in local
clubs. One of her most popular and intense songs was Strange Fruit written in 1939. ... Show more

of time. Billie said that singing that song made her fearful of retaliation, but the imagery of the song
reminded her of her father (Virginia). Surprisingly Strange Fruit became a huge part of her
performances. Her shows began to end with her singing this song powerfully in the dark with a light

Organizational Life Cycle
Organizational life cycle Prof.univ.dr. Ion Gh. ROŞCA Prof.univ.dr. George MOLDOVEANU
Academ de Studii Economice din Bucureşti Abstract This paper proposes an analogy between rational
biological model and the organizations development during their existence. So, organizations born or
creation are considered the result of genetic algorithms, transformations are identified with changes
that aim the adapting to the environment, and finally the death treats the state of crisis and bankruptcy.
In every stage of life there are proposals to increase it, by extension of states identified in the human
area and not taken into account in the artificial one, which must learn from the first system, which we

2. Transformations / organizational changes 2.1. Imperative Transformations / changes define the
longest organizational life period and are required to adapt to continuous environmental change. This
process is triggered immediately after the occurrence and action of natural selection open or block the
organization s evolutionary path. 2.2. Typology Having organizational artificial creation, in our
concept as a rational biologic model, provides step by step changes, linear and un exponential.
Investigations of the specific literature have identified three types of transformations, namely: i) the
radical, step by step change; ii) exponential, step by step change; iii) evolutionary, step by step change
(increasing) ; The first category includes the school created by Hammer and Champy, with extensions
in the second group, outlined by the six sigma method. The third group triggered by K. Lewin, we
support and serve as a model, especially for organizations without excellence , as most of those in the
Romanian economy. Evolution, without being Darwin s theory followers and not opposing
creationism, is, in our opinion, in line with a α coefficient more or less, in relation to environmental
conditions. For organizations characterized by excellence, we accept locally reengineering, but as an
exception. Figure 2. Organizational

Now also the capacity and the speed of the portable devices will be increased. Because of these
changes, recorded music and delivery music companies all over the world need to rethink their
strategies. The three main areas they have to think of are; *Recorded music from the traditional record
companies *Mobile telephones (a new revolution music delivery) *Broadband and the web (potential
for new music delivery) In 2007 there were four major music producers who owned together 75% of
the entire market. And in spite of the amount they owned of the market, they still all had trouble with
their profitability. The fact that they had profit problems seemed really surprising. But the reason was
really clear. One of the main reasons the companies were losing money, was because selling music via
the Internet became more popular than buying CDs in a store. Furthermore, the profit margins of cd
sails were higher than those of the online sails. The four big companies have three mayor competitive
advantages. Those advantages are, recording contracts, high promotional barriers and record sales
through retail stores. To make more money, the record companies needed to find other ways to add
value. For example they start interfering with concerts of their artists. They make money from
promotion, concerts, merchandise and other forms of branding. Basically; the music company starts to
work on other parts of the industry and extends their value chain. Moreover, one of

The Vietnam War On Vietnam
The War on Vietnam Many believe that the way Americans entered the war against the North Vietnam
communists was unjust. The United States got into a war that they had no clue on how to win. The
Vietnam War was a long, costly armed conflict that pitted the communist regime of North Vietnam
and its southern allies, known as the Viet Cong, against South Vietnam and its principal ally, the
United States. The divisive war, increasingly unpopular at home, ended with the withdrawal of U.S.
forces in 1973 and the unification of Vietnam under Communist control two years later. More than 3
million people, including 58,000 Americans, were killed in the conflict. The South Vietnam
government was not communist like its counterpart to the north, and all they wanted was peace
amongst the North. The leader of the north was Ho Chi Minh, a communist leader that wanted
absolute power. Ho Chi Minh actually worked in the United States as a baker. It s odd for someone
from Vietnam to go work in a country like the United States of America, but with his rich family he
was able to travel to the United States to work. He also lived and traveled to the United Kingdom, he
worked as a chef again and a dish cleaner. When he traveled to France, he wanted equality amongst
the Vietnamese and French Indo China. He and group of his political friends attempted to have a
social reform amongst French Indo China but was denied by the French government. After years of

Narrative Essay About Titanic
Titanic, the HMHS Britannic, RMS Lusitania; what do these names all have in common? That s right,
they all were boats that sunk. Relating to my story, I was in a tropical paradise that looked as if it was
the kind you see on calendars and default backgrounds on computers, the kind you thought never
really existed. Never had I seen such beauty before. My family and I walked the soft sanded beaches
for hours on end every day, soaking in all of the burning sun s rays and exploring everything the island
had to offer. I fell in love with the warm, clear, turquoise waters and the smell of salt water in the air
wherever you go. As soon as I stepped off the plane, I knew that Turks and Caicos was a once in a
lifetime opportunity, one to be cherished forever. But no trip would be memorable if there wasn t a
moment of action and adventure. So in order to make this the greatest trip of all time, my family and I
decided to go against the wishes of the resort and go where no tourist dared to go. This could ve been
the vacation getaway talking, but we rented mini boats from off resort merchants, unsure of the
dangers that were to come.
My family of six loaded into 3 mini boats fit for two kids. With all of us being over the age of 12, it
was bound to be a tight squeeze. I started off driving one of three mini boats across the choppy waters
with my sister right by my side. Gone in a flash, my brothers went whizzing by with the sound of their
engine roaring a high pitched roar. The resort

A Lecture On Civil Rights
In Unit 2 lecture on Civil Rights, I learned there are implemented parameters of laws discriminating
against specific groups. (Unit 2 Lecture 1 Video) The Equal Protection CClause fought to end public
discrimination, prohibiting states from denying any person the equal protection of the law. (Gateways
to Democracy, p. 150) Courts decide whether laws or actions violate this clause by determining the
government s reason for passing such a law and the connection to the specific classification. There are
three different tests used with three different levels of scrutiny, depending on the classification in
question; in descending order, these three are the Strict Scrutiny Test, Intermediate Scrutiny, and
Rational Basis test. The level of scrutiny depends on the group s classification. Depending upon the
group whose right has been violated, the Court sets different standards of how closely it will scrutinize
the law alleged to violate equal protection. (Gateway to Democracy, p. 151) Strict Scrutiny is used
immediately when involving race, national origin, religion, or alienage. The classification in regard to
this is called Suspect classifications. Suspect classifications are classes that if discriminated by the
government, are deemed unconstitutional; this classification includes a group s religion, alienage,
race, and national origin. In Skinner v. Oklahoma, the Supreme Court presented strict scrutiny as a
means of preventing invidious discrimination that subjected

Media Change In Mass Media
Throughout the time in which we have had communication, our form of giving and receiving
information has increased. No longer are the days in which a piece of paper had to be rushed back into
town to relay what had transpired that day, or a little note strapped to a pigeon that hopefully flew
back to base. Now, we have forms of mass media, such as television, radio, and over the internet. One
thing that has drastically changed is war. Before the invention of mass media, governments held full
reign over what the people thought and heard about foreign or domestic transpirings. Now, however,
all is known about war. The reactions to this, concurrently, have changed with the time. During foreign
conflicts, news people and journalists travel to the front lines to show firsthand what is transpiring
there. They then bring this information back, or alternatively, don t. Some wars and conflicts go
unseen, unheard from foreign countries.
There have been multiple studies done on the reactions of people on different wars. These different
studies verify that there is a correlation between the amount of media coverage that a conflict gets and
the reaction and resources given to it during the time of the incident and in the aftermath. This paper is
to show the correlation and differences in the research of professionals, not to sway any opinion, or to
show my own personal beliefs. This is purely an informative piece.

The War Powers Resolution Of 1973
Who has the power to go to war? Most people would say the President while others would say
Congress. The War Powers Resolution of 1973 may shine some light on who or whom can declare
war. The War Powers Resolution of 1973 also know simple as the War Powers Act states the President
must notify Congress within a 48 hour time frame that he is sending troops into military combat. The
act does not allow military solders from remaining in a state of conflict for more than 60 days. After
60 days the President must ask Congress again for authorization. The act was made to restrain the
President strength to send U.S. military overseas by requiring the executive branch to discuss with
Congress before involving U.S. troops in overseas combat. Before the Wars Power Act the
Constitution was used to see who could declare war however it was contradictory. In Article I of The
Constitution the power to declare war as well as have the power to raise an army and navy, and fund
war efforts was given to Congress however in Article III of The Constitution the President is named
Commander In Chief of the armed forces. It is meant to control the Presidents power over the U.S.
armed forces because it requires him to have Congress consent. The War Powers Act was also made to
avoid another Vietnam mishap where Nixon secretly sent U.S. troop to invade Cambodia which
caused public rage against an invasion of a neutral country. If you were told you told you had to ask

Deutsche Bank, an international universal bank, was internationally active a short time after its
foundation. The bank s early decades were a period of rapid expansion. With its growth Deutsche
Bank seemed to be unstoppable. But with the beginning of the First and Second World War the vision
to offer a financial services throughout the world was destroyed. Fortunately, the year of 1957 has the

This was followed by further participations for example Hannoverschen Bank or the shareholding of
Essener Credit Anstalt in 1903. The large numbers of participations helped to strenghten Deutsche
Bank s position by taking influence of the regional banks.
In 1914 Deutsche Bank rethought their strategy once again. As the banks biggest competitors,
Dresdner Bank and Diskonto Gesellschaft had, at that time, a great network of branches in Germany
they wanted to establish their presence with their own name.
Following the merger of Deutsche Bank and Bergisch Märkischen Bank in 1914 and Norddeutschen
Creditanstalt and Bergisch Märkischen Bank in 1917 Deutsche Bank became the biggest universal
bank in the world with roughly 40 branch offices. Over the next years many mergers, participations
and stock swaps followed. In 1929 The biggest ever merger in German banking history creates the
Deutsche Bank und Disconto Gesellschaft . The concentration throughout the industry and the
increasing costs were the main reasons for this merger. Due to this strategy Deutsche Bank was able to
establish a branch network all over Germany. This merger increased the number of branches to
roughly 300 branch offices.[3]

My Writing Quality
The idea of being a technical writer has caught my attention since early childhood. Writers are diligent
workers that write to inform, entertain, or persuade people about their business. These workers must
work even harder to achieve master s degrees and writing experience even before they become a
writer. They must experience both difficult and wondrous points during this career. Often, salaries and
workplaces vary, as do job opportunities and disadvantages. This career fits me because I am
extremely creative and enjoy being assigned different topics. I also love writing and directing others.
There are many interesting and specific features writing carries. Writers often write manuals. They
usually work for large news companies, newspapers, and websites, such as The Daily Herald.
According to the Mental Floss Magazine company, a writer must suit the following qualities:
descriptive, creative, experienced with English, and able to use a positive writing voice. If I were to ...

Besides writing certain composition and bearing certain character traits, there are also necessities in
education that are crucial for many news companies. Many companies will require a master s degree
in English or at least 3 years of writing experience in order to be able to write for them. Other than
that, other courses in English Language Arts and Writing are not required, but they are highly
recommended to improve my writing skills. What s more, writers also have specific work
environments and dress codes, too. Most all writers work inside the building of their company, if not,
than they work in a quiet place, like a library. Usually, writers working for larger businesses tend to
more often have editors by their side, suggesting changes and revising their mistakes. And writers don

Figurative Language And Metaphors
We were all taught about similes and metaphors at school: figurative language that allows us to not
only read about something, but to help create a picture in our head. For example, the phrase her eyes
were blue is very plain and to the point. Her eyes were as bright as stars makes them seem bright,
welcoming, sparkling. She had stars for eyes is much more vivid, even though technically it says the

Birth Control Pills In Schools Essay
Three in ten teen American girls will get pregnant at least once before age twenty which adds up to
nearly 750,000 teen pregnancies every year ( 11 Facts about Teen Pregnancy ). This is one of the
major causes to why teenage girls drop out of school and simply throw out their lives out the window.
Once girls get pregnant, this creates an obstacle to continue thriving in life, in this case, in school.
Without a doubt it is one of the things that teenage girls face in today s world, but what if there is a
way to prevent from girls getting pregnant? The answer to this is the availability of birth control pills
to teenage girls. There is no way of knowing what teenagers are up to and that includes having sexual
relations at a young age, but people would feel safe knowing that there is protection for them.
Therefore, birth control pills should be available for teenage girls because it prevents pregnancy, helps
lower the risk of getting ovarian cancer, and reduces the rates of abortion. The birth control pills also
known as oral contraceptive pills and hormonal pills are an effective way of preventing pregnancy. By

Difference Between Chief Joseph A Century Of Dishonor
Chief Joseph s, An Indian s Perspective and Helen Hunt Jackson s, A Century of Dishonor both come
from contrasting perspectives. However, both passages share a common goal of peace and equality in
the United States. Both, Joseph and Jackson understood the mistreatments of American Indians under
the control of white men . The main difference between the two was that Chief Joseph was an actual
American Indian and Jackson was only a white woman who sympathized with the American Indians.
Chief Joseph, was a courageous leader of a large tribe called Nez Percé whose ultimate goal was to
live in peace. Joseph and his tribe sought out peace by negotiating treaties with the American
government. Similar to Chief Joseph, Jackson reached out to

Portrayal Of Alcoholism In Black Beauty, By Anna Sewell
A. Summary
The purpose of this report is to show how alcoholism is portrayed in Anna Sewell s novel, Black
Beauty, and to outline what alcoholism is, the causes and effects of alcoholism, and how to get help if
you or someone you know is an alcoholic.
B. Portrayal of Alcoholism in Black Beauty
In the novel Black Beauty, by Anna Sewell, alcoholism is portrayed as an evil that leads to cruel
behaviour. It showcased how drunkenness leads to the downfall of Reuben Smith, his family, and
Black Beauty. Beauty describes Reuben as a faithful and valuable man, gentle and clear in his
management of horses when he is sober. He would not drink for weeks or months, then he would have
a bout of it. He was a disgrace to himself, terror to his wife, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The severity of this dependence varies between individuals. Roughly 4% of the Canadian population,
over the age of 15, are suffering from an alcohol dependency or are alcoholics. The highest percentage
of these drinking problems are among people between the ages of 20 and 24. Roughly one fifth of
Canada s alcoholics have admitted that financial and job related problems have been caused by their
drinking ( Alcohol in Canada, 2016).
D. Causes and Effects
The effects associated with alcohol are produced by the ethanol in the alcohol. The severity of these
effects is reflected by the concentration of alcohol in an individual s blood, which is dictated by the
amount of alcohol ingested, the volume of blood, the individual s metabolism, and amount of time
since ingestion. In large doses, alcohol acts as a depressant of the central nervous system. A blood
alcohol level of 0.1% affects some of the motor areas of the brain associated with speech, balance and
manual dexterity. A blood alcohol level of 0.2% depresses all motor functions and the area concerned
with emotions is depressed. At a blood alcohol level of 0.45% the entire section of the brain that
handles perception is depressed and the individual becomes comatose. At a blood alcohol level of
0.7% the parts of the brain that control the heartbeat and breathing are depressed and the individual

Hey Biz,
As you can tell this email is over 140 characters. My apologizes in advance.

when I became a high school senior, I decided that I wanted to try to be one of the students selected.
However, I realized that the NYT would never reach out to my small underfunded NYC public school

Feminism in Sor Juana Essay
Feminism in Sor Juana
In Estela Portillo Trambley s play Sor Juana the main character Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz was
considered to be one of the earliest feminists. Sor Juana s eternal struggles to study and unshakable
craving for knowledge and wisdom, from whatever source it may be, support this attribute. In my
opinion however, there are also significant elements of the play that suggest that Sor Juana would not
be considered a true feminist. Of these reasons, there are three major ones that I will analyze. The first
reason is that Sor Juana gave up her struggle for the acquirement of knowledge from books and settled
for reading from religiously accepted writing, essentially giving up what she had been originally
fighting for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This whole progression of events is evidence that Sor Juana was never a true feminist. Although she
was an assertive and determined young woman earlier in life, Sor Juana learned to accept the way the
world was, abandoned what feminist ideals she had had, and devoted her later life to pleasing God and
being a good nun.
Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, as portrayed in Trambley s play is only concerned with her own desires.
She never shows interest in other women s rights and she never speaks to other
women about the idea of equal rights. She does not encourage her fellow females to fight to attend
colleges and learn. It is like to Sor Juana, there is no such thing as another woman who desires the
same things as she. To me this limits the extent to which Sor Juana could be called a feminist. She
never, in any way, attempted to fight for the rights of anyone beside herself, and for no thing besides
the freedom to study and become learned. It is much more applicable to refer to Sor Juana as one of
the first in a sort of evolutionary linearity of what finally became feminism. At the low end of the
evolutionary spectrum are characters like Sor Juana. She was forthright and assertive about what she
desired, but she lacked the ability or means to organize or extend her struggle to any topic area that did
not directly interest her. When Sor Juana says, My journey

Heathers Depiction Of Life In High School

high school and apply still today. Starting with Heathers, what I gained and still appreciate about this
film are two different topics. A sense of what the high school is hell and so is life. Heathers portrayed
high school in the real true light that is high school. Kids/teens are mean and if you are not in with the
right crowd then you are out. Heathers showed what every single high school is like, full of clicks and
each click is made up of different racial, gender and social classes. This is something that no one can

The Effect Of Temperature On Ants
Ants are one of the small sized insects from the family of formicidae which consist of high diversity
on earth. They are found everywhere on earth except in Antarctica, and they have immense impact on
terrestrial ecosystems (Heatwole and Muir, 1989). They are vital in moving and recycling soil and
nutrients. They live in colonies ranging from tens to hundreds of millions in a colony. They
communicate and control their colony by chemical messages.
Animals including, birds and insects occupy different temporal niches by being active during different
specific periods of the year and at specific times of the day (Jayatilaka P et al., 2011). The
maintenance of this seasonal and daily activity patterns also allows animals to avoid their predators, to
reduce conflict due to food competitors and to extremely exploit food resources. To determine suitable
times of activity, animals may monitor environmental variables such as light and ... Show more

The ants were found to be active almost at the same times of the day, even though they were exposed

were going to be active at night, but then the ants were all showing to be diurnal. There was an

The Theme Of Compassion Mercy
THE THEME OF COMPASSION MERCY IN THE GOSPEL OF LUKE BY LYNETTE IDIO
Achievement Standard 91724
The Greek word, eleos, best translates into mercy and compassion . It is significant that eleos appears
six times in Gospel of Luke, also known as, the Gospel of Mercy . Compassion is a powerful
awareness of concern for other s suffering and feeling sympathy. While mercy is the exercised virtue
of forgiving, founded on compassion. Simply, mercy is putting the emotional connection of sympathy
or pity of others into action. These Catholic virtues are especially highlighted within the Catholic
Church s current teaching amid our 2016 Jubilee Year of Mercy (8th December 2015 to 20th
November 2016). Pope Francis calls Catholic all over the world to bring Jesus mission here on Earth.
to bring a word and gesture of consolation to the poor, to proclaim liberty to those bound by new
forms of slavery in modern society, to restore sight to those who can see no more because they are
caught in themselves, to restore dignity to all those from whom it has been robbed. (n.16)
The Gospel of Luke thoroughly illustrates the themes of mercy and compassion in his use of literary
devices such as symbols, stories and parables. Luke urges how significant it is to feel and deliver the
ready willingness to help anyone in need in our society. The Gospel offers a model to live out these
virtues through Jesus actions and his parables.

The Pros And Cons Of DNA Profiling
DNA profiling is a standard tool used to help with criminal investigations. This is impactful in the
field of forensics to determine and identify suspects of murder. For example, almost 50 years after the
crime, DNA provided evidence in the murder of Mary Sullivan by taking a sample from the nephew of
the suspect in her murder. As such, it was clear the Boston Strangler was Albert DeSalvo. (Philip
Bulman, February, 2014) DNA profiling is also imperative in identifying murder victims such as
Kerry Graham and Francine Trimble, who became missing in December, 1978. Due to advanced
knowledge in forensic science, a DNA match identified the victims in December, 2015. (Linda
Williams, 2016) DNA profiling is conducted first by obtaining a DNA sample from a crime scene,
suspect, victim or other evidence. The next step is to amplify sequences to make the DNA sample
larger. Finally, gel electrophoresis is used to compare regions of the amplified DNA to determine
which samples are from the same individual and which are unique. There are several profiling
techniques such as polymerase chain reaction which targets and quickly copies segments of DNA
from even minute amounts of blood or tissue. Another profiling method is short tandem report
analysis which repeats short sequences of DNA to determine exact matches between relatives and
unrelated individuals. As referenced above, gel electrophoresis compares fragments of DNA by
separating from different sources. Lastly, there is RELP analysis

INTRODUCTION The purpose of this interview is to distinguish the learning between a high school

problem is very different as we rely more on calculators. Does it really going to help us remember it
after almost 15 years from today? Will we be able to solve a math problem without a calculator use? I
also wanted to analyze the misconception that both groups had regarding decimal division and
multiplication. London, Brightlemon and Tribal stated on their website of Count On some common
misconceptions about multiplying decimal numbers, one of them was about most people ignoring the
fact that 0.1 * 0.1 is the same as 1/10 * 1/10 which becomes 1/100 ... Show more content on

is the same as 15 divided by 6. My cousin had the misconception exactly like Benny that Erlwanger
mentioned in his writing (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B
zCt1YBD2VJNFpDOFhyaEsyOG8/view?usp=sha). They often ignore which number is divided by
what. Calculators are also making younger generations mentally handicapped which doesn t allow
them to do a simple calculation without it, they rely more on it rather than trying to solve it
themselves. Consequently, more use of calculators at each and every class is increasing the
misconception of a small number divided by a larger number compared to the other facts I was
considering. Back in the old days, they were not allowed to use calculators at for every calculation
which made them faster at doing it themselves. My cousin took double the time compared to my
father as he was stuck in the division. Although he had done high school math after decades, he still
finished it faster than my cousin as he remembered the steps he had done in school. My cousin had the
misconception that if the denominator is greater than the numerator, it works the same way as it would
work for a smaller denominator. Benny from one of our readings also had the same problem as my
cousin. When he was asked to solve 4/11 and then 11/4. He answered that both would end up having
the same result, ignoring which is bigger: denominator or numerator. Considering the way my cousin
applied his methods for solving the problem of the division, it shows that he lacks the cognitive
structure and its coordination just like Benny. We have discussed in the class that misconceptions are
resistant to change and after the interviews I have realized that it is true. This is because after the
interview was done, my cousin still had the misconception that 15/6 gives

Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA)
The Electronic Communications Privacy Act ( ECPA ) was passed in 1986 to update the 1968 Title III
Wiretap Act, the federal statute that first prohibited the actual or intentional interception
communications without judicial authorization (Wiretap Act, 1968). The 1968 act only concerned wire
and oral communications; a wire communication was defined as any communication made in whole or
in part through the use of [common carrier] facilities for the [interstate or foreign] transmission of
communications by the aid of wire, cable, or other like connection between the point of origin and the
point of reception, and oral communication was defined as any oral communication uttered by a
person exhibiting an expectation [of privacy]. ECPA sought to amend the Wiretap Act in order to
accommodate privacy protections for the increasingly prolific use of electronic devices in
communications between citizens that do not apply to the original definitions (Comm. on the
Judiciary, 1986). ECPA consisted of three titles: the first title amended the 1968 Wiretap Act, the
second title addressed stored communications, and the title addressed pen registers and trap and trace
devices. Title I of ECPA introduces the term electronic communication defined as any communication
not carried by sound waves and [those that] cannot fairly be categorized as containing the human

adulthood arrived Spielberg had settled down with two women, Amy Irving and Kate Capshaw. He
only had one son before divorcing his first wife Amy, but had seven children with second wife Kate.
His children s names are Jessica, Sasha, Mikaela, Theo, Max, Sawyer, and Destry. He s now known as
the family man or the giant kid ( Steven Spielberg, Business). In 1980, Steven s career began when he
made his own company called Amblin Entertainment . Movies such as Gremlins, Back to the Future,
Men in Black, Lincoln, Schindler s List, E.T., Jaws, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, Indiana Jones,
and many more movies were released in the Amblin Company. Spielberg not only directed movies but
television shows that went hit on drama, such as ER and Tiny Toons, that went into the Amblin
Company. Jeff Katzenberg helped him with the adventurous and animated movies in the early films,
and with the help of his friend he improved in making animated movies. Later, Jeff Katzenberg, David
Geffen, and Steven Spielberg made a mind blowing company of their own, Amblin Company, to make
movies and sell merchandise such as toys, films, video games, and much more. This was a great idea
for them to move further together in the film industry. Spielberg became a great director, producer, and

Aging With Grace By David Snowdon
Promoting Shalom with Older Adults Aging with Grace by David Snowdon does a fantastic job at
addressing different issues that older adults face when it comes to cognitive function. However,
Snowdon does not limit this book to just that. He conducted a research project where he interacted
with the older generation of nuns. Originally, he treated them as just test subjects in his study of
Alzheimer s disease. As his research progressed, he soon realized that he could not just treat the nuns
like lab rats. One of the younger nuns approached him and said I ll move forward with your request,
buy you need to listen carefully to what I am about to say. No matter what you do, I want you to
remember who these women are. They are real people. Very dear to us. They are holy people, too. I
don t want you to treat them as research subjects. Get to know them. Understand that many of the
older sisters were the teachers or mentors of the younger sisters, and we treat them with the care and
respect they deserve, we will expect nothing less from you. He needed to get to know each one of
them as an individual rather than part of his experiment. He began getting to know their past and how
that has affected each of them to this day. Through his research, he go to know the nuns physical state.
Snowdon also took the time to learn more about their spiritual, emotional, and psychological well
being as well. He was a good example of what every Christian nurse should strive for when working

Today In Society People Are Starting To Gradually Become
Today in society people are starting to gradually become more open to the transvestite community.
Some people take pleasure in dressing as the opposite sex in society. Even though someone dresses as
the opposite sex doesn t mean that they still couldn t be attracted to the opposite sex. When people see
a male or female dressed as the opposite sex their automatic assumption is that there gay but that s not
always the case. A male or female might want to dress in the opposite sex because either they don t
want to be labeled by their clothing or they like to wear clothing that suits them best.

In this cartoon, Mr. Potato head is not following the standard general rules of society. Now earlier in
this paper the term Symbolic Interactionism was brought up, it comes into play because of the four
behaviors of communications. Knowledge and beliefs both come into play together because by the
reaction that Mrs. Potato head gave to her husband. As she was growing up she was probably taught
from her family and the type of culture that she was raised on that men and women are supposed to
behave, dress and have certain responsibilities according to their gender.
Just because we got the impression by her body posture and facial expressions that she was upset and
disapproving her husband s actions doesn t mean our assumptions were necessarily true. Looks can be
deceiving, a variety of things could have been going through her head. Being that Mrs. Potato head is
his wife she is also considered as his significant other, therefore she as a lot of influence on his
judgment. His expression is probably because he never wanted her to know or he was afraid of her to
know about his secret because she might judge or leave him over it. If he would have told her he d be
considered as the out group. Out group is people who are viewed and treated negatively because they
re seen as having values, beliefs, and other characteristic different from those in the in group.

Literary Analysis Of The Painted Bird
Oyuki Paniagua
Professor Brienza Larsen
English 1B
July 21 2017
Different
It s hard to imagine having your entire family murdered as a young kid, living in a century where war
attacks were in every corner. This was the life of the young boy in the story The Painted Bird.
Although the author, Jerzy Kosinski, never confirmed the book as an autobiography, it was easy to feel
the pain as if he experienced it himself. The Painted Bird is a heartfelt novel that gives us all a glimpse
into the dark reality of our past. The author is able to walk us through what I believe was his life. We
are lead through a series of trauma the young boy experienced. The boy shares the dark reality that
anyone that is that vulnerable can be tortured, abused and killed by anyone, including family. The boy
s tragic life is a testimony of how terrifying life was like during the world war. Nevertheless, it seems
as though life was just a bit tougher for him because he was different. Life can be difficult for many
people, but it is undeniable that being different can affect the way others view you. *Such life was
Kosinskis, Being different than the people around him made him a target.
Through the juxtaposition of childish innocence and the most brutal forms of fallen adult experience,
such works sum up the universal trauma of war in a myth of unrivaled concentration and clarity.
(Houghton)
In the beginning of the story, the author introduces us to the life he was exposed to. We learn

Seneca Falls Convention Research Paper
Prior to the Seneca Falls Convention and the women s rights movements, women were mistreated and
limited in many ways. The Seneca Falls Convention brought a lot of attention to women s rights and
eventually led to what they are able to do today. In 1831, the Second Great Awakening was happened
across the northern part of the United States. Charles Grandison Finney allowed women to lead prayer
with men. In 1832, William Lloyd Garrison called for women to be involved in the anti slavery
movement. Lucretia Mott met Elizabeth Cady Stanton when both attended the World Anti Slavery
Society convention in London in 1840. When denied a place on the floor with the rest of the female
delegates, Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton resolved that what was needed was a meeting for

A two day period convention led by Elizabeth Stanton and Lucretia Mott. The document that they
produced is called the Declaration of Sentiments which was declaring the rights of women modeled on
the Declaration of Independence. It listed the grievances that women wanted to address that they didn
t have consent of the governed. They couldn t earn employment at their own will and couldn t go to
school for higher education. The property they obtained before and during the marriage went to the
man. If the man left the woman, they have no rights and divorce at their own wills. They can t serve
on juries. The most controversial issue is that they didn t have the right to vote. Lucretia Mott was
against that as were a lot of women had thought that it was outrageous that women would have the
right to vote, there it actually ended up being included. Frederick Douglass, the african american
abolitionist from Rochester New York who ran the North Star, gave a speech at the end of the second
day which he eloquently and powerfully argued for women s right to vote to be included in the

  • 2. To What Extent Did The Union Win The Civil War The Union s layout for winning the war included several main strategies. Utilizing its superior navy, the North would blockade Southern ports to prevent supplies from reaching the South, as well as to impede the South from earning revenue by exporting cotton. Cotton remained a significant factory in the establishment of slavery and South s agricultural economic system. Raw materials, especially cotton were shipped to a textile mill in the North but the majority of what the South produced was exported. Gaining control of the Mississippi River was another significant and necessary Union strategy as it would fracture Southern lines. Finally, the North planned to capture Richmond, the Confederate capital. The South s primary aim was to maintain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thanks to the nature around us, man has been able to fortify what we have and advance in unimaginable ways. For as long as man has been on earth, inhabitants have been able to explore, interpret, and learn in areas like religion, relationships and educational advancement. However, the constant fear of death is always in the back of our minds. With so many advances today, it distracts many of us from noticing where things all began and came from, nature. That is why, man has created so many different advances that help us forget our inevitable end. In the Epic of Gilgamesh and the movie Stalker written by Andrei Tarkovski, both works remind audiences of how people have always used technology to distract us from the thought of dying. The Cold War Period ( 1945-1991 ) Since the Cold War period (1945 1991) the international community has faced a plethora of challenges, none greater than the current, and rapidly growing threat of climate change. In this essay, climate change will be acknowledged as a legitimate phenomenon, which is presently faced by the global population. Described as a shift in the Earth s weather patterns over a time scale spanning longer than a decade, climate change is directly related to the variation in quantities of extreme weather events worldwide. This paper will specifically argue on the consequences of these extreme weather events which have the potential to destabilise and weaken nations. Along with prospectively injuring the lives of many civilians and forcing them to flee their State, in search of safety in that of neighbouring countries, this resulting in the security threat and crisis of climate refugees. Corresponding to these threats is the challenge of cooperation under anarchy, as climate change is that of a global commons concern. Climate change possesses the ability to significantly pose a threat to all humans, and in a world of international anarchy. Compiling with States and Nations looking to further their own agenda, it presents another dimension of complexity, which showcases the difficulties, need and importance of addressing what is known to be the most significant international relation issue of our time. Some social groups can be determined by a broad spectrum or a narrow spectrum. Social groups can be spread out throughout different regions as well as an entire nation as a whole. Every person who attends North Carolina State University is part of the same social group. That social group can be broken down into many smaller groups, such as the individual colleges in the University. Within those smaller groups of the different colleges, the groups can even be divided into smaller groups by major, and then again by concentration. Every person belongs to dozens of social groups without even realizing. The social group that has played a huge role in my life is the one of people who has participated in mission work. Mission work is something that has been very vital in my life ever since I was a little girl in middle school. I do not know what my life would be today without being part of groups that did service projects, and volunteer work as well as on many occasions spreading the knowledge of Christianity. I have been a part of two groups in particular that have truly changed the way I look at life and how I view other people. Tungsten Baptist Church and First Baptist Youth Group have both been very influential on life and I cannot imagine my life without these. So, organizations born or creation are considered the result of genetic algorithms, transformations are identified with changes that aim the adapting to the environment, and finally the death treats the state of crisis and bankruptcy. This process is triggered immediately after the occurrence and action of natural selection open or block the organization s evolutionary path. 2.2. Typology Having organizational artificial creation, in our concept as a rational biologic model, provides step by step changes, linear and un exponential. Investigations of the specific literature have identified three types of transformations, namely: i) the radical, step by step change; ii) exponential, step by step change; iii) evolutionary, step by step change (increasing) ; The first category includes the school created by Hammer and Champy, with extensions in the second group, outlined by the six sigma method. The third group triggered by K. Lewin, we support and serve as a model, especially for organizations without excellence , as most of those in the Romanian economy. Evolution, without being Darwin s theory followers and not opposing creationism, is, in our opinion, in line with a α coefficient more or less, in relation to environmental conditions. Now also the capacity and the speed of the portable devices will be increased. Because of these changes, recorded music and delivery music companies all over the world need to rethink their strategies. The three main areas they have to think of are; *Recorded music from the traditional record companies *Mobile telephones (a new revolution music delivery) *Broadband and the web (potential for new music delivery) In 2007 there were four major music producers who owned together 75% of the entire market. And in spite of the amount they owned of the market, they still all had trouble with their profitability. The fact that they had profit problems seemed really surprising. But the reason was really clear. One of the main reasons the companies were losing money, was because selling music via the Internet became more popular than buying CDs in a store. Furthermore, the profit margins of cd sails were higher than those of the online sails. The four big companies have three mayor competitive advantages. Those advantages are, recording contracts, high promotional barriers and record sales through retail stores. To make more money, the record companies needed to find other ways to add value. For example they start interfering with concerts of their artists. They make money from promotion, concerts, merchandise and other forms of branding. • 14. The Vietnam War On Vietnam The War on Vietnam Many believe that the way Americans entered the war against the North Vietnam communists was unjust. The United States got into a war that they had no clue on how to win. The Vietnam War was a long, costly armed conflict that pitted the communist regime of North Vietnam and its southern allies, known as the Viet Cong, against South Vietnam and its principal ally, the United States. The divisive war, increasingly unpopular at home, ended with the withdrawal of U.S. forces in 1973 and the unification of Vietnam under Communist control two years later. More than 3 million people, including 58,000 Americans, were killed in the conflict. The South Vietnam government was not communist like its counterpart to the north, and all they wanted was peace amongst the North. The leader of the north was Ho Chi Minh, a communist leader that wanted absolute power. Ho Chi Minh actually worked in the United States as a baker. It s odd for someone from Vietnam to go work in a country like the United States of America, but with his rich family he was able to travel to the United States to work. He also lived and traveled to the United Kingdom, he worked as a chef again and a dish cleaner. When he traveled to France, he wanted equality amongst the Vietnamese and French Indo China. Relating to my story, I was in a tropical paradise that looked as if it was the kind you see on calendars and default backgrounds on computers, the kind you thought never really existed. Never had I seen such beauty before. My family and I walked the soft sanded beaches for hours on end every day, soaking in all of the burning sun s rays and exploring everything the island had to offer. I fell in love with the warm, clear, turquoise waters and the smell of salt water in the air wherever you go. As soon as I stepped off the plane, I knew that Turks and Caicos was a once in a lifetime opportunity, one to be cherished forever. But no trip would be memorable if there wasn t a moment of action and adventure. So in order to make this the greatest trip of all time, my family and I decided to go against the wishes of the resort and go where no tourist dared to go. This could ve been the vacation getaway talking, but we rented mini boats from off resort merchants, unsure of the dangers that were to come. My family of six loaded into 3 mini boats fit for two kids. With all of us being over the age of 12, it was bound to be a tight squeeze. (Unit 2 Lecture 1 Video) The Equal Protection CClause fought to end public discrimination, prohibiting states from denying any person the equal protection of the law. (Gateways to Democracy, p. 150) Courts decide whether laws or actions violate this clause by determining the government s reason for passing such a law and the connection to the specific classification. There are three different tests used with three different levels of scrutiny, depending on the classification in question; in descending order, these three are the Strict Scrutiny Test, Intermediate Scrutiny, and Rational Basis test. The level of scrutiny depends on the group s classification. Depending upon the group whose right has been violated, the Court sets different standards of how closely it will scrutinize the law alleged to violate equal protection. (Gateway to Democracy, p. 151) Strict Scrutiny is used immediately when involving race, national origin, religion, or alienage. The classification in regard to this is called Suspect classifications. Suspect classifications are classes that if discriminated by the government, are deemed unconstitutional; this classification includes a group s religion, alienage, race, and national origin. No longer are the days in which a piece of paper had to be rushed back into town to relay what had transpired that day, or a little note strapped to a pigeon that hopefully flew back to base. Now, we have forms of mass media, such as television, radio, and over the internet. One thing that has drastically changed is war. Before the invention of mass media, governments held full reign over what the people thought and heard about foreign or domestic transpirings. Now, however, all is known about war. The reactions to this, concurrently, have changed with the time. During foreign conflicts, news people and journalists travel to the front lines to show firsthand what is transpiring there. They then bring this information back, or alternatively, don t. Some wars and conflicts go unseen, unheard from foreign countries. There have been multiple studies done on the reactions of people on different wars. These different studies verify that there is a correlation between the amount of media coverage that a conflict gets and the reaction and resources given to it during the time of the incident and in the aftermath. This paper is to show the correlation and differences in the research of professionals, not to sway any opinion, or to show my own personal beliefs. This is purely an informative piece. The War Powers Resolution of 1973 may shine some light on who or whom can declare war. The War Powers Resolution of 1973 also know simple as the War Powers Act states the President must notify Congress within a 48 hour time frame that he is sending troops into military combat. The act does not allow military solders from remaining in a state of conflict for more than 60 days. After 60 days the President must ask Congress again for authorization. The act was made to restrain the President strength to send U.S. military overseas by requiring the executive branch to discuss with Congress before involving U.S. troops in overseas combat. Before the Wars Power Act the Constitution was used to see who could declare war however it was contradictory. In Article I of The Constitution the power to declare war as well as have the power to raise an army and navy, and fund war efforts was given to Congress however in Article III of The Constitution the President is named Commander In Chief of the armed forces. It is meant to control the Presidents power over the U.S. armed forces because it requires him to have Congress consent. As the banks biggest competitors, Dresdner Bank and Diskonto Gesellschaft had, at that time, a great network of branches in Germany they wanted to establish their presence with their own name. Following the merger of Deutsche Bank and Bergisch Märkischen Bank in 1914 and Norddeutschen Creditanstalt and Bergisch Märkischen Bank in 1917 Deutsche Bank became the biggest universal bank in the world with roughly 40 branch offices. Over the next years many mergers, participations and stock swaps followed. In 1929 The biggest ever merger in German banking history creates the Deutsche Bank und Disconto Gesellschaft . The concentration throughout the industry and the increasing costs were the main reasons for this merger. Due to this strategy Deutsche Bank was able to establish a branch network all over Germany. This merger increased the number of branches to roughly 300 branch offices.[3] 2. These workers must work even harder to achieve master s degrees and writing experience even before they become a writer. They must experience both difficult and wondrous points during this career. Often, salaries and workplaces vary, as do job opportunities and disadvantages. This career fits me because I am extremely creative and enjoy being assigned different topics. I also love writing and directing others. There are many interesting and specific features writing carries. Writers often write manuals. • 23. Figurative Language And Metaphors We were all taught about similes and metaphors at school: figurative language that allows us to not only read about something, but to help create a picture in our head. For example, the phrase her eyes were blue is very plain and to the point. Her eyes were as bright as stars makes them seem bright, welcoming, sparkling. She had stars for eyes is much more vivid, even though technically it says the same thing. Metaphors offer much more vivid imagery because they say something is something else. When you declare that something is something else, not just like it, it shows a strength in your conviction and a confidence in what you re saying. That being said, metaphors are much more difficult (in my opinion) to come up with. All things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sor Juana s eternal struggles to study and unshakable craving for knowledge and wisdom, from whatever source it may be, support this attribute. In my opinion however, there are also significant elements of the play that suggest that Sor Juana would not be considered a true feminist. Of these reasons, there are three major ones that I will analyze. The first reason is that Sor Juana gave up her struggle for the acquirement of knowledge from books and settled for reading from religiously accepted writing, essentially giving up what she had been originally fighting for ... Although she was an assertive and determined young woman earlier in life, Sor Juana learned to accept the way the world was, abandoned what feminist ideals she had had, and devoted her later life to pleasing God and being a good nun. Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, as portrayed in Trambley s play is only concerned with her own desires. She never shows interest in other women s rights and she never speaks to other women about the idea of equal rights. She does not encourage her fellow females to fight to attend colleges and learn. It is like to Sor Juana, there is no such thing as another woman who desires the same things as she. To me this limits the extent to which Sor Juana could be called a feminist. She never, in any way, attempted to fight for the rights of anyone beside herself, and for no thing besides the freedom to study and become learned. It is much more applicable to refer to Sor Juana as one of the first in a sort of evolutionary linearity of what finally became feminism. At the low end of the evolutionary spectrum are characters like Sor Juana. • 34. The Pros And Cons Of DNA Profiling DNA profiling is a standard tool used to help with criminal investigations. This is impactful in the field of forensics to determine and identify suspects of murder. For example, almost 50 years after the crime, DNA provided evidence in the murder of Mary Sullivan by taking a sample from the nephew of the suspect in her murder. As such, it was clear the Boston Strangler was Albert DeSalvo. (Philip Bulman, February, 2014) DNA profiling is also imperative in identifying murder victims such as Kerry Graham and Francine Trimble, who became missing in December, 1978. Due to advanced knowledge in forensic science, a DNA match identified the victims in December, 2015. (Linda Williams, 2016) DNA profiling is conducted first by obtaining a DNA sample from a crime scene, suspect, victim or other evidence. The next step is to amplify sequences to make the DNA sample larger. Finally, gel electrophoresis is used to compare regions of the amplified DNA to determine which samples are from the same individual and which are unique. There are several profiling techniques such as polymerase chain reaction which targets and quickly copies segments of DNA from even minute amounts of blood or tissue. Another profiling method is short tandem report analysis which repeats short sequences of DNA to determine exact matches between relatives and unrelated individuals. As referenced above, gel electrophoresis compares fragments of DNA by separating from different sources. Lastly, there is RELP analysis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They often ignore which number is divided by what. Calculators are also making younger generations mentally handicapped which doesn t allow them to do a simple calculation without it, they rely more on it rather than trying to solve it themselves. Consequently, more use of calculators at each and every class is increasing the misconception of a small number divided by a larger number compared to the other facts I was considering. Back in the old days, they were not allowed to use calculators at for every calculation which made them faster at doing it themselves. My cousin took double the time compared to my father as he was stuck in the division. The 1968 act only concerned wire and oral communications; a wire communication was defined as any communication made in whole or in part through the use of [common carrier] facilities for the [interstate or foreign] transmission of communications by the aid of wire, cable, or other like connection between the point of origin and the point of reception, and oral communication was defined as any oral communication uttered by a person exhibiting an expectation [of privacy]. • 43. Aging With Grace By David Snowdon Promoting Shalom with Older Adults Aging with Grace by David Snowdon does a fantastic job at addressing different issues that older adults face when it comes to cognitive function. However, Snowdon does not limit this book to just that. He conducted a research project where he interacted with the older generation of nuns. Originally, he treated them as just test subjects in his study of Alzheimer s disease. As his research progressed, he soon realized that he could not just treat the nuns like lab rats. One of the younger nuns approached him and said I ll move forward with your request, buy you need to listen carefully to what I am about to say. No matter what you do, I want you to remember who these women are. They are real people. Very dear to us. They are holy people, too. I don t want you to treat them as research subjects. Get to know them. Understand that many of the older sisters were the teachers or mentors of the younger sisters, and we treat them with the care and respect they deserve, we will expect nothing less from you. He needed to get to know each one of them as an individual rather than part of his experiment. He began getting to know their past and how that has affected each of them to this day. In this cartoon, Mr. Potato head is not following the standard general rules of society. Now earlier in this paper the term Symbolic Interactionism was brought up, it comes into play because of the four behaviors of communications. Knowledge and beliefs both come into play together because by the reaction that Mrs. Potato head gave to her husband. As she was growing up she was probably taught from her family and the type of culture that she was raised on that men and women are supposed to behave, dress and have certain responsibilities according to their gender. Just because we got the impression by her body posture and facial expressions that she was upset and disapproving her husband s actions doesn t mean our assumptions were necessarily true. Looks can be deceiving, a variety of things could have been going through her head. Being that Mrs. Potato head is his wife she is also considered as his significant other, therefore she as a lot of influence on his judgment. • 45. Literary Analysis Of The Painted Bird Oyuki Paniagua Professor Brienza Larsen English 1B July 21 2017 Different It s hard to imagine having your entire family murdered as a young kid, living in a century where war attacks were in every corner. This was the life of the young boy in the story The Painted Bird. Although the author, Jerzy Kosinski, never confirmed the book as an autobiography, it was easy to feel the pain as if he experienced it himself. The Painted Bird is a heartfelt novel that gives us all a glimpse into the dark reality of our past. The author is able to walk us through what I believe was his life. We are lead through a series of trauma the young boy experienced. The boy shares the dark reality that anyone that is that vulnerable can be tortured, abused and killed by anyone, including family. The boy s tragic life is a testimony of how terrifying life was like during the world war. Nevertheless, it seems as though life was just a bit tougher for him because he was different. Life can be difficult for many people, but it is undeniable that being different can affect the way others view you. *Such life was Kosinskis, Being different than the people around him made him a target. Through the juxtaposition of childish innocence and the most brutal forms of fallen adult experience, such works sum up the universal trauma of war in a myth of unrivaled concentration and clarity. (Houghton) In the beginning of the story, the author introduces us to the life he was exposed to. We learn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
