The Black And Colored People
The problem in the communities of the black and colored people in America is there need to feel equal
to their dominator. What happens with the black and colored people is they succumb to lower levels
than they are worth and capable of to appease the problem. For example during the separate but equal
era black business were booming, Black Wall Street was thriving, and black children were just as
smart if not smarter than their other counter parts. Not by choice but because they had to be in order to
compete the same is true today but less so. Their education was not monitored and didn t have to be
white washed because it was ran by the people that looked and lived like them. During desegregation
the life of American African people changed forever, in some ways for better and other ways for the
worse.
Integration was the turning point in the wrong direction for black people in my opinion. This was the
start of internalized colonization done by European Americans. The American Africans have become
assimilated and very docile or overconformity as Ruth Caven would say, to European culture. In doing
this some black leaders will go out of their way not to step on the toes of European Americans because
they feel a closeness and familiarity. This feeling of closeness hinders the ability to call them on the
carpet for slavery, segregation, and all the other crimes up to date. In beating around the bush the
problem cannot be addressed in any way shape or form. Not talking about

Blood Pressure, The Pressure Of Blood
Blood pressure, the pressure of blood in the circulatory system, is a vital aspect to the human body in
order to maintain homeostasis. Many Americans are not aware of the seriousness of having high blood
pressure. High blood pressure is called Hypertension, which can be a silent killer if untreated. There
are many causes of Hypertension, including diet, age and race. Doctors now are making classifications
of pre hypertensive, which can help patients maintain their health and possibly avoid hypertension, if
they follow the advice of their physician. Americans should eliminate fatty foods from their diet, be
mindful of their age and race as they may become prone to Hypertension, which can lead to heart
damage, heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke and maybe death if untreated.
It is important to know what to do if one s blood pressure approaches the extremes, as it can be a sign
of a serious health problem. Knowing what the norm is for systolic and diastolic pressure can help
eliminate health dangers. An unusual blood pressure reading by itself, may not necessarily demand a
911 call (Thomas, George M.D, 2015). While the unusual blood pressure reading may not be a 911
emergency at that moment, it can still be a sign of trouble arising. It is important for to realize the
seriousness of rises in blood pressure. Hypertension can be prevented with regular checking and
monitoring of the blood pressure. If blood pressure reaches 140/90 or higher

The Invention Of Snowboarding
The first ever snowboard was not even a snowboard. The idea that first introduced the idea of
snowboarding was called a Snurfer. A Snurfer was a simple board and rope that Sherman Poppen
made for his daughter in the year of 1965. His invention became popular and he started selling them.
Then, Jake Burton got the idea to strap his feet down to the board. It was a modified snurfer with
bindings. He made a company called Burton and his company made the first official snowboard in
1980. In 1983, Jeff Grell made the highback bindings. These are the bindings that are most popularly
used today. However, competition really boosted the sport s popularity which caused people to make
the sport better and more enjoyable. Competition was one of the most

School Prayer In School
Thesis: The removal of school prayer was a bad thing for students morals. Prayer sets a standard for
the students. Allowing prayer in school may improve a lot of things about the students at school. The
behavior of students would change dramatically kids would not be mean to other students. Prayer is a
action which proclaims that life is more than just saving an environment or accumulating wealth
(Hovis 1). People might think that God is evil, our experiments with replacing affirmation of
humanism has been a dismal failure. The only thing of evil is for good men to do nothing. Removing
the school prayer sends a message to our children, when we allow laws to be passed which limit the
free expression. The Federal and Supreme Court judges should be impeached who undermines the
freedom which this country was founded. The situation has become so absurd that that congressional
prayer cannot be voluntarily read in school buildings. The removal of school prayer was a bad thing
for students morals. Mortality declines without prayer, prayer can shape a good citizen. With prayer
students have something to gain, they can be more helpful with others and the peers around them.
Since prayer was removed from school the violence has increased and grade have dropped. SAT s
have dropped drastically. More kids have been birth out of wedlock. Increased in drug used and
increased in juvenile crimes. Deterioration of school behavior also. People also have a choice to be
faithful, most who

The Genetic Disorder of Down Syndrome
Noo Why my baby, this mother has just been given the news that her child has been diagnosed with
Down Syndrome. Her child was one of many who will have trouble reading out loud or to even
communicate. Who will grow up with not knowing if today will be a good day or not. Down
Syndrome is just one case of genetic disorder. There are so many all over in the world and many
doctors still don t even know what to call them. Some don t even know they have a disease in them till
its too late, or other know all there lives and some learn to live with the disease and others live every
day in fear of getting even more sick and hurt.
Genetic disorders are very common some more than others. Its all has to do with our 46 chromosomes.
Genetic disorders can occur to anyone. Many people believe genetic disorders only happen to those
who have family cases with genetic disorders but, it s not something you can truly control. When a
cell is going through Meiosis the outcome should be that every gametes should have 23 chromosomes
which carry your genetic code. At the beginning of Meiosis each homologous chromosomes pairs up
with another homologous chromosome and then they start exchanging genetic code. This process is
called Crossing Over. During this process there is a small chance that the exchange didn t happen
properly and not all the genetic code was transfer from one another. Which can later result in your
genetic code failure.
Another Cause of a genetic disorder is if there aren t

The Theme Of Religious Themes In The Birthmark By...
Many of Nathaniel Hawthorne s works have very religious themes and overtones. His short story The
Birthmark is no different. In this short story, many religious analogies are present. Hawthorne uses
characterization, symbolism, and theme to make various statements about Christianity and sin. His
characters can be seen as the two main figures in Christianity, God and Jesus. There are also many
symbols in the story that have religious ties and connections. There are several themes present in the
story that may give the reader insight into Hawthorne s religious views. All of these elements lend
themselves to analysis with a spiritual focus.
The two main characters of The Birthmark are Alymer, an intelligent yet arrogant scientist; and his
wife, Georgiana, a beautiful, selfless woman with only one flaw, a birthmark on her cheek. Alymer
believes that science can solve any problem. He also seems to think that he can use science to fix what
most Christians would see as God s perfect creation: Georgiana s birthmark. Alymer sees himself as a
god of sorts, and shows this when he attempts to improve on nature (Ellis 33). He is loving, but very
controlling and sees himself as the highest power, much like God. His arrogance eventually becomes
his downfall, because he is so confident in his ability to fix Georgiana that he ends up killing his wife,
the most important thing in his life, except science. Georgiana however, is the exact opposite.
Georgiana is the

Immigration Policy And Foreign Policy
Immigration policy and foreign policy are in many ways interlinked, as they are often used to meet
goals in one another s policy areas. Together, they are used to enhance the safety of our citizens,
making this topic particularly important. Immigration is specifically linked to our foreign policy
efforts with underdeveloped countries (Keely 1978). To fully understand one policy area, you must
understand aspects of the other. Thus, one should consider these relationships when analyzing and
evaluating Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump s policies on immigration reform.
Immigration policy can often be used as a tool for foreign policy goals. This usually occurs when
national safety is threatened, and it is sparked by merely the perception that immigration and terrorism
are linked. Many believe that terrorists can enter our country by manipulating Immigration laws such
as refugee asylums, which leads to stricter immigration policy to better secure our national safety
(Franzblau 1997, 4 11). Even now, the Republican Nominee for President of the United States, Donald
Trump, makes statements like, our immigration system is being used to attack us (Hensch 2015).
Regardless of the truth value behind his statement, it is relevant to note that the notion itself by such
an important political figure could create a push for stricter immigration policy. The change in policy
may be surrounding the issue of immigration, but the actual goal is the foreign policy goal of
enhanced national

Correlation Between Youth Sports Athletes And Leadership...
A Look at Correlation Between Youth Sports Athletes and Leadership Concepts in the Workforce By
Robert Graves For a majority of my life, I ve been involved in sports. I can even remember when I
played on my first team, the time my father first enrolled me on my first T ball league. There are
pictures in our family photo album of me holding a basketball at an age even younger than when I
played in the T ball league, shooting it into a Mattel basketball hoop. Throughout the years, I ve
played on various sports teams from little league baseball, YMCA basketball, high school football,
and even a high status volleyball team during my time in the Marine Corps. I love sports and the team
concept; in fact, a majority of my friends played in some type of league, or were former teammates of
my own. I ve noticed throughout the years, as I look back on my life, that I had always been some sort
of captain or role model, and even in the jobs I held I had always been promoted faster than my peers,
and have always been given great recognition and appraisal. I have always been told I was a good
leader, and people came to me willingly to seek assistance and advice. Still to this day, as a chief in
my shop, and as a family friend, people turn to me for life coaching. I see this trend as well with some
of my former teammates, and even some former High School and College athletes that enlisted in the
services. Seeing this trend I began to wonder if there is a correlation between

Superego Of Sigmund Freud
Sigmund Freud, a renowned psychologist and psychoanalyst, is notably known for creating the idea of
the id, the ego and superego. These three concepts, according to Freud, make up the human psyche
and provide some insight and understanding into how the human mind works. These so called systems
in the brain are in no way physical but together, they make up a whole and contribute towards an
individual s behavior.
The id is described as the primitive component of one s personality as it consists of everything
biologically inherited at birth. This includes one s instincts and sexual desires. The id can be described
as being impulsive and contains all of the drives and hidden urges of an individual. Repressed
memories in the unconscious mind resides in the id. Freud believed that the id, ego and superego
developed at different stages in an individual s life. A newborn child is all id, as it does not have the
morals and social influences that come with the ego and superego. The ego, unlike the id, is partly
conscious and partly unconscious. It serves as the intermediary between the id and the superego as it
makes decisions based on reason, instead of unrealistically and logically (as the id would) or based on
morality and societal influences (as the superego would). The ego would create the realistic ways to
fulfill the id s demands that are impulsive and with little regard to any consequences. Defense
mechanisms exist within the ego due to the fact that it often faces anxiety

Military Involvement of Women in Canadian History
Introduction In the recent past women in the Canadian Forces have managed to reach integrated
positions including position of combat in the military. Lack of research and knowledge that governs
and supports women in these roles is a common phenomenon in many countries. Women have
experienced gender disparity for a long time; however, with the help of other stakeholders and their
effort they have persistently fought gender discrimination. When there is no appropriate research,
there is a likelihood that the provided services may fail to target the actual need of women. For women
in the military to be optimistic about the support, there is need for research that is to examine their
experiences in the military. This discrimination has also been revealed by nontraditional research on
women. From the history of Canadian Forces, women have really struggled to achieve pay and status
equity and integration within the military ranks and positions. Their efforts have been faced with a
number of barriers and setbacks which arise from the Canadian government that pave way for gender
integration upon the military. The fact that women were being recruited and expanded job
opportunities for them availed, the traditional military institutional norms, beliefs, values and
procedures were being faced out to a great extent, (Baker, D. D., et.al, 1990). The beginning of change
was in the North West Rebellion of 1885, went on through the next century to date. During these
changes, women

The Soviet Union As A Great Nation
Although often overlooked World War 2 can arguably seen as the most critical event in the history of
the Soviet Union. The result of the war was the epitome of Stalin s vision of success for the Soviet
Union. The War initially had a significantly positive impact on the Soviet Union in the short term,
however the results and effects of the War were a factor that ultimately led to the collapse of the
Soviet Union as a whole.
The short term impact World War 2 had for the Soviet Union was positive for the growth and
evolution of the Soviet Union. The War both enhanced nationalism, and propelled the Soviet Union to
a major world player. In the eyes of Stalin, WWII was exactly what the Soviet Union needed to evolve
into a great nation. The war created great sense of nationalism and unity that strengthened the core of
the Soviet Union. Just as Stalin had hoped for the Soviet Union became arguably the most
nationalistic world power at the time; looking at the way the Soviet Union fought the war can
reasonably conclude this. The Soviets didn t not fight the war conservatively whatsoever. Stalin and
the Soviet army would take risks and lose lives in the name of defeating fascist enemies. The Soviet
army fought the war as if they re entire societal system was on the line. Ordinary soldiers absorbed the
attitudes of the Nazi and the Soviet leaders. Both sides believed that defeat would lead to annihilation
of their way of life (Suny 343). Another positive impact WWII had on

The Film Production Of The Movie Production Industry
In the film production industry, the main goal is to produce a film that appeals to the audience and
incorporate elements of the certain time period. In doing so, the production film must keep in mind the
current trends and views of society. Stereotypes have been commonly present in society for as long as
our history dates back to. Among these stereotypes, I will be focusing primarily on Asian stereotypes
the primary reason being that I am an Asian American myself. The portrayal of these common
stereotypes however, does not imply or mean that Americans view it in a positive light. Some of the
most renowned and racist films in history are Breakfast at Tiffany s and Sixteen Candles. In addition
to these films, I will be examining and analyzing the television series Gossip Girl and Fresh off the
Boat to access a different perspective on the subject of how minorities are seen in American society.
Asian America is known to be comprised of immigrants, the ninjas, the kung fu masters, small
business owners, eastern mystics, Chinese restaurant waiters and people who can t pronounce their Ls
and Rs properly. It s also land of slanted eyes, buck teeth, and incorrect grammar. It s a land of the
yellow menace taking America s money. But we will dive deeper into that subject as this extended
essay progresses, this is only the introduction portion of course. Today s lack of Asians on movie
screens can be traced to the very beginning of American film. Back then, minorities including

Tartuffe Essay
Tartuffe
In his most notorious play Tartuffe, Molière relates the story of an attempt, by a manipulative
hypocrite, to destroy the domestic happiness of a citizen who, charmed by his seeming piety, has taken
him into his home as a respectable guest. The play was disallowed after its first performance because
it was deemed anti religion. However this ruling was made unfairly since true religion is never
confounded with hypocrisy, but is upheld with warmth, which shows his characteristic hatred of
imposture in any shape.

These are my heroes. They re the men I think are great.
And they re the men whom I would want to imitate.
On first seeing Tartuffe performed in Versailles, the King immediately recognized and appreciated its
genius. He understood that it was strictly addressing hypocrisy, however concern about the play began
to grow as its performance moved to Paris. Molière s adversaries claimed that under the fake motive
of trying to expose hypocrisy, he actually sought to undermine the foundations of religion itself.
Pressure from the opposition, which included the Catholic Church, the archbishop of Paris, the Queen
Mother Anne of Austria, and the Company of the Holy Sacrament forced Louis XIV to ban the play in
Paris.
The argument could be made that The King s initial approval stemmed from the fact that Tartuffe
includes patronage in the form of not so subtle flattery and references to Louis XIV and his family and
associates, rather than the theme of hypocrisy versus sincerity. One instance of this being in the final
act where the King s authorities come to arrest Tartuffe for a history of swindling people out of their
fortune. The officer refers to his King as:

Comparison Of Northanger Abbey And The Oval Portrait
Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey and Edgar Allan Poe s The Oval Portrait portray confusion between
imagination and reality. In the excerpt of Northanger Abbey, Catherine comes to learn about the late
Mrs Tilney while on a walk with Eleanor. In contrast, the excerpt of The Oval Portrait details the
narrator s delirious encounter with a life like portrait of a young woman. Both excerpts explore how
the relationship between art and reality. However, whereas the narrator in The Oval Portrait is able to
soundly distinguish illusion from reality, Catherine s boundless imagination clouds her reason and
adversely affects her judgment.

Borrowing the plot details of various gothic novels, Catherine attempts to interpret the General s
character to conform to the outlines of the evil and mysterious villain, a stock character in the Gothic
novel. The general s worry over her well being is misread as a threat to Catherine. His avoidance of a
path favoured by his late wife is misconstrued as guilt. Even the absence of the late Mrs Tilney s
portrait in his room is attributed to cruelty. Imagination clouds her reason and deduction, as she
assumes the worst despite lack of evidence. For instance, Catherine claims that there was a something
in the turn of his features which spoke his not having behaved well to her, such something being an
unspecified product of her fantasy. As she gradually comes to think the worst of the General, it is
because she has often read of such characters. Unlike the book in The Oval Portrait , which
represented a retreat from the extreme to reality, books in Northanger Abbey represents Catherine s
alternate reality, that of a gothic mystery. She considers herself a heroine living through her books and
pursuing some other truth. The reader follows Catherine s stream of consciousness as she searches for
clues and pieces of evidence: Here was another proof. A portrait very like of a departed wife, not

Surfactant Replacement Therapy and the Affects on RDS and Other Pulmonary Disorders Jacquelyn
M. Wood Grossmont Community College 2015 INTRODUCTION As a newborn makes their entrance
to this world from intrauterine life all should go smoothly. The newborn is delivered and is stimulated
to breathe and then is followed by inspirations, followed by a cry showing a successful arrival to this
world, but not all deliveries go as planned. There are diseases of the respiratory system. The most
common disease is Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS). The Primary cause of RDS is the
underdevelopment of the premature lungs states Perretta, 2015. RDS is caused by a deficiency and
immaturity of alveolar surfactant with the anatomical immaturity of the premature infants lungs. The
incidence of RDS increases with decreasing gestational age says J. Haitsma, 2010. The biggest factor
is surfactant deficiency caused by decreased surface area in the lungs for proper gas exchange and
thick alveolar capillary membranes. Surfactant replacement therapy for preterm infants with RDS has
shown to be a major breakthrough in neonatal medicine, says J. Wirbelauer and Speer, 2009. It has
become routine for the prevention and treatment for infants suffering from respiratory distress
syndrome. Surfactant replacement therapy is a life saving treatment for all neonates showing signs of
RDS characterized by surfactant deficiency. By replenishing the lungs with an exogenous surfactant

INTRODUCTION: I am studying the rally speeches for the leaders of the Labour and Liberal
Democrat party s. Nick Clegg has been the leader of the Liberal Democrat party for 5 years now and
Ed Milliband has been the leader of the Labour party for 2 years. Both of these leaders have become
unpopular in the public s eyes: Nick Clegg due to him lying about the raising of tuition fees as well as
the negative view from his party as they feel he has disassociated himself from the party objectives in
order to conform to a conservative coalition. Ed Milliband is unpopular due to his lack of solid policy

He is attempting to bring back the pride in the liberal ideology and re aligning society with them; by
highlighting the importance of liberal ideals in a dramatic fashion he is becoming the front man for it

party. Therefore, removing the ideas of detachments from the party objectives. By repeating this word
he is emphasizing to the audience there is a clear direction of the party one that can be clearly placed

the public has been experiencing. Here by using the verb let he seems like he is pleading with

The Effects Of Osteoporosis On The Bone Disease
The Effects of Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much
bone, too little bone, or both. Because of this, bones become weak and may break from a fall, or
worse, break from sneezing or minor bumps (National Osteoporosis Foundation). Osteoporosis means
porous bone . A healthy bone under a microscope looks like a honeycomb, when osteoporosis is taking
place, the holes and spaces in the honeycomb are much larger than in the healthy bone. Bones that are
osteoporotic have lost density, and contain abnormal tissue structure. When bones lose this density,
they weaken and are more likely to break. Osteoporosis is often called a silent disease because one can

Smoking can lead to lower bone density, and higher risk of fracture, and this risk increases with age.
Over four units of alcohol a day can double the risk of a hip fracture. The risk of vertebral and hip
fractures in men increases greatly with heavy alcohol intake, particularly with long term intake. Low
body weight and weight loss is associated with greater bone loss and increased risk of fracture. Some
young females, particularly those training for elite athletic competitions, exercise too much, eat too
little, and consequently experience amenorrhea, which makes them at risk for low bone mass and
fractures. Middle aged and older men and women with annual height loss 0.5 cm is at an increased
risk of hip and any other fractures. Falls contribute to fractures ninety percent of hip fractures result
from falls. A third of people over age sixty five fall annually, with approximately ten to fifteen percent
of falls in the elderly resulting in fractures. Almost sixty percent of those who fell the previous year,

The Sound and the Fury Essay
The Sound and the Fury
Title:
The title of this novel is The Sound and the Fury. This title is derived from one of Shakespeare s most
intriguing plays, Macbeth. Within Macbeth, Shakespeare describes life as a tale told by an idiot, full of
sound and fury. And if life is a tale told by an idiot, there is justification as to of why Faulkner begins
the book through the eyes of Benjy, a thirty three year old retard.
Author:
The author of The Sound and the Fury is William Faulkner. He grew up in Oxford, Mississippi. After
dropping out of high school, Faulkner pursued his studies at the University of Mississippi. And he was

This eventually leads him to commit suicide. He is the only character in the novel who is obsessed
with honor and sexuality. And when he can t find any love from his mother, he turns to Caddy.
Quentin does not want to forget how he handled Caddy s promiscuity because he believes that if he
were to forget the entire experience would be meaningless although he is haunted by it. And in the
end, Quentin commits suicide by drowning himself in the river.
The next major character of this novel is Jason Compson. And the third section of the book is seen
through his eyes and revolves around him. From this section, the reader learns that Jason is a selfish,
demented, and emotionless bachelor who would never give in to the idea of marriage. Jason is selfish
in that he believes that he is always right and that the world should work the way that fits him best. He
is demented in that he enjoys quarreling with people. One good example of this is when he arrives to
work late in hopes that he will have the chance to argue with his boss. And he is emotionless in that he
doesn t feel for anyone and doesn t believe in love.
The next major character found in the book is Dilsey. And although the last section is from the author
s point of view, it revolves around Dilsey, the cook for the Compson family. She treats Benjy like a
normal person and assumes that his needs are the same as the rest

Should Playing a Collegiate Level Sport Be Considered a Job
Should playing a collegiate level sport be considered a job? One of the loudest debates in the sports
world is whether or not college athletes should receive a share of the revenue they produce for the
universities. Men s basketball and football players generate millions of dollars a year through ticket
sales, television contracts, team merchandise, and much more. So why don t they get a share from the
profits? Does this mean that big time universities are exploiting their college athletes so that they can
cash in from their talents? College athletes in today s day in age are beginning to put in their opinion
of how they should receive a salary. Did they forget that they are still students at an institution? Most
of the big time college athletes, such as basketball and football players, are at the school with a full
athletic scholarship, which is already worth thousands of dollars. Everyday students pay to be a part of
the school, and athletes receive the benefits of going to school for free, and enjoy all the extra benefits
that come with the tough work as an athlete. These athletes receive first class treatment. They are
given private flights to away games, first class hotels, and many other luxuries. They do not pay for
tuition, transportation, food, or team facilities. On top of that, they should receive a salary? Not a
chance. The law professors find that college athletes meet all three because a coach has much control
over what they do; athletic scholarships amounts

Government s Involvement Of Government Security
In this day and age the internet has become a big part of our lives. The internet is now a medium that
connects millions of different people across the world in the matter of seconds. However, the vast sea
of communication and information that comes along with the internet is not a safe place. More and
more often we hear of a security breach within a major company or leaked information, from hackers.
Many people are questioning whether or not the government should get involved and regulate the
internet. However, people don t realize that the government s involvement might infringe on our
constitutional rights by censorship of information, invading privacy and the possibility of suppressing
our freedom of speech

Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech. Those are the words of the first
amendment in our constitution and the law the government must follow.
U.S civilians run the risk of losing many rights with government regulating the internet. For example
privacy, many government requests has been sent to Google for information on their consumers. In the
Google transparency report, a U.S. law enforcement agency asked Google to take down a blog that
allegedly defamed a law enforcement official in a personal capacity. The company denied that request.
Another separate and different law enforcement group asked Google to take down one thousand four
hundred videos on YouTube (Google owns YouTube) because of alleged harassment. Dorothy Chou, a
Google analyst states, It s alarming not only because free expression is at risk, but because some of
these requests come from countries you might not suspect, Western democracies not typically
associated with censorship. The company did not oblige either of those demands but as the report
states, they did fulfil at least with forty two percent of the removal requests from the United States in
2011. That number compared to the past reports is very low; in 2010, for example, Google said it
complied with eighty seven percent of U.S. requests to take down content. In 2011, Google received

The Creation Of Drones Started A New Era Of Warfare
The creation of drones started a new era of warfare, one in which people can kill from behind a screen
and attempt to erase the feelings that come with murder. In years prior to the events of 9/11, the U.S.
has been flying drones in Afghanistan. Drones take away the physical distance as well as fear between
adversaries, with pilots operating these RPV s from behind a screen. These drones are equipped with
HD cameras for clear flight navigation that allow the pilots to see an image of what, or who they are
destroying. New types of cameras are being made to see things that the human eye cannot, with
inventions such as the multi purpose camera currently under production that acts like many eyes in the
sky at once. Program manager Jay Lew says DARPA is aiming to create a single, multi talented
camera sensor that can detect visual scenes as familiar still and video imagers do, but that also can
adapt and change their personality and effectively morph into the type of imager that provides the
most useful information for a given situation (darp.mil). This type of camera will revolutionize the
way we see any given situation; when it is too dark, the camera will be able to switch to a different
viewing mode in order to best capture the picture it is attempting to take. Although this device is
projected for the future, it shows just how innovative mankind is becoming. This type of technology
creates the need for different training tactics of soldiers in order to adapt to the

The Aspects Of The Pueblo Revolt Of 1680
The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 Throughout the period of colonization, several aspects of genocide can be
identified. From the Genocide Convention of 1948, genocide was lawfully defined as any of the
following committed with the intent to destroy in whole or part a national ethnical, racial, or religious
group as such: killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the
group, deliberately inflicting on the group conditions to bring about its destruction, imposing measures
intended to prevent births within the group, and/or forcibly transferring children of the group to
another group. In what is modern day North America, European settlers began colonizing the area in
hopes of achieving their goals of expanding Christianity, acquiring wealth for their countries, and/or
gaining personal wealth and power. The European settlers had little care about the indigenous people
of the areas they were colonizing, leading to the American Indian Wars (Lasting from 1622 1924) and
the genocide of Native Americans. During this time period, the Native American population decreased
dramatically as a result of brutal war, disease, and torture. The modern day New Mexico area in
particular was home to Indian Pueblos, who showed an extreme act of resistance against their Spanish
conquerors. What later became known as the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 showed how resistance to
genocide can be achievable and the impacts it may have. Genocide is impossible to overcome

How do you think the family is feeling about this incident?
I think that Bob s family will also go through some of the stages of the grieving process. I think that
they would go through shock, denial, anger, guilt, and acceptance. Furthermore, I think they would
also have some fear.
Bob s family may have some shock and disbelief that he was involved in an accident. This may be due
to the fact that Bob has had so many years of experience driving and also teaching people to drive
safely. Furthermore, they may be surprised that he injured someone else. They will be happy that Bob
did not injury himself though.
Secondly. I think that they would be in denial of the whole situation. I feel that they may think that
their father could not have possibly been involved or at fault of the accident. This would be due to the
fact of Bob s experience and the trust that the family has in their loved one.
They family may also have some anger and frustration built up. They may be angered and frustrated
after looking at the police report that it was actually Bob s fault in the accident. They may be
frustrated that Bob did not admit that the accident was his fault. Furthermore, they may also Fear for
Bob s safety and the safety of others. If he hit a person this time. What might happen the next time that

Renewed Attention To The Herbal Approach
Depression and anxiety treatments are gaining new, albeit actually traditional, grounds. Herbal
medicines used for the treatment of depression are becoming widely used. For example, St. John s

is planning to be pregnant soon.
Adverse Reactions to be Expected
Going herbal and natural does not mean that these treatment options do not have adverse effects.
Moreover, mixing natural or herbal treatments for depression in combination with other
antidepressants may have different adverse reactions. So take note again if you are currently or
recently have been taking pharmacological medications or substances like MAOIs or monoamine
oxidase inhibitors, SSRIs or selective serotonin re uptake inhibitors, tricyclic medications,
medications for losing weight, drugs for Parkinsons disease, barbiturates and tranquilizers,
antihistamines, alcohol, IV drugs, and antibiotic medications.
Natural treatments for depression may or may have not undergone extensive testing and trials in
clinical environments. Consult your doctor at all times in the use of these natural treatments. These
herbal treatments must be taken only after your doctor s evaluation and prescription. Moreover, doctor
s instructions must be strictly adhered to.

Class Action Litigation Act Of 2017
Introduction:
Class actions continue to be a hot bed for both litigation and legislation. Gaining traction in the Senate
is the Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act of 2017 (the Act ), which already passed in the House of
Representative by a vote of 220 to 201. But how significant is the Act? And how does it differ from
the current Rule 23 framework and the Class Action Fairness Act ( CAFA ) that was passed in 2005?
Early commentators have come out on both sides, some praising the Act s attempts to cut down on
unmeritorious litigation driven only by plaintiffs attorneys and third party funders, others viewing the
Act s new restrictions as a boon only to defendants. Regardless of how the Act is characterized, if
enacted in its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This often occurs in cases involving consumer products there can be thousands of people who have
not actually been injured but who are merely unhappy with a product, and they are allowed to be a
part of the class. An empirical study found that no injury class actions have resulted in approximately
$4 billion worth of settlements and judgments over the last decade alone.
The new requirement would especially impact securities fraud cases, where the range of investor
losses can differ between a few hundred dollars (for individuals) and hundreds of millions of dollars
(for institutional investors). Similarly, product liability claims would be more difficult to certify,
especially those involving pharmaceuticals, because the symptoms, latent period, and extent of
injuries often vary dramatically across class members.
This new requirement is the change most likely to have the biggest impact on how class actions
proceed, mainly because its language is vague and susceptible to differing interpretations. So, while
on the one hand, the addition of a new requirement may decrease the number of cases that are allowed
to proceed as class actions, on the other hand, there will likely be an increase in litigation dealing with
how type and scope should be interpreted.
Reliable and feasible method of distribution
The Act would add an additional requirement to class certification by requiring that the

Effects Of Poverty In Developing Countries
Poverty is believed to be a global phenomenon and it is caused by lack of resources, war and political
conflicts, natural disasters and inheritance of poverty in a country. Social discrimination is one of the
many causes of poverty in developing countries. It does not only cause but also act as a hurdle in
alleviating poverty. According to Pernia and Quibria (1999), poverty has many dimensions other than
income or consumption. Among the other dimensions are health, nutrition, education and gender
equality. UNIFEM (2000) also proclaimed that an alternative approach is used to define poverty such
as lack of assets, dignity, autonomy and time apart from being elucidated as shortcomings in
consumption or income. Therefore, the three effects of social discrimination that contributes to
poverty in developing countries that this essay would discuss on are gender inequalities in education,
gender variabilities in work force and racial background disparities. Racial background hereby means
ethnicity which is categorized based on a group of people with similar traits for instance common
heritage, language, cultural similarities within the group, sometimes the geographical connection to a
specific place, common food and even faith (Christian, E 2017).
The first effect of social discrimination that leads to poverty in developing countries is the gender
inequalities in receiving education. Women are more prone to poverty because of the inequalities in
the distribution of proper

Deforestation Is The Real Consequences Of Deforestation
Forests have been around since the beginning of time. What can be conceived as just a patch of land is
really an immense part of life on earth. The plants in a forest produce oxygen for humans as well as all
other creatures. This land also provides a home for natural wildlife. But what would Earth look like
without these forests? If the rate of deforestation continues to increase then we may have to find out
the answer to that question. Deforestation is a recurring global problem which is the act of tearing
down a forest to use the land for a different purpose. Today s society is so steadfast on advancement
that they aren t stepping back to look at the solutions to the problem, alternatives, nor the very real
consequences of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This goes to show that even the smallest daily decisions can help benefit the environment.
Some look at the benefits of deforestation, which there are some. The major reason for deforestation is
agriculture. The land can be utilized as farmland and raising livestock. Another benefit of
deforestation is the obvious. Wood. Everyone and their brother uses a product or byproduct of wood
every day whether it being for the use of construction, the furniture in homes or the paper in
notebooks. Deforestation also creates jobs. Employment is given to the individuals who cut down the
trees as well as the ones who are processing them. This employment is also extended to those
producing the byproducts such as pencils and paper. The cleared land can also serve as ground for
potential urbanization. Crystal Lombardo makes an excellent point on this benefit of deforestation.
She says With 10 billion people expected to be on the planet by the year 2050 and no end to the
growth explosion in sight, space is becoming a premium on Earth. When forests are on lands that
could be used for habitation, then removing the forest creates more livable space. Homes and
businesses can even be built using the products that have been removed from the biome . Although
there are many benefits to deforestation, is it really worth it?
There are many benefits to deforestation, however, the destruction is not worth the real cost.

Application Of Property Theories Of The Beacon Hill
II. Application of Property Theories
A. Utilitarianism
The Utilitarian theory of property seeks to maximize the population s utility when a property decision
is made, the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. To apply this theory, one must define and
aggregate a measure of utility comparable for all people in a cost benefit analysis. A popular measure
of utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing the price a person is willing to pay
for a good or service as the value to be aggregated in the cost benefit analysis. However, a strict
welfarist utilitarian analysis will not work in this instance because welfarisim is too individualistic and

Price seems to be the best measure for utility as almost anything can be commodified and priced by
members of the population. Furthermore, other economic measures, such as how a decision increases
a person s wealth, will not reach the full population affected by this decision, as some parties, like
tourists, do not have their wealth increased by such a public property decision. Determining the value
that individuals place on the current handicapped ramps and surrounding sidewalks in Beacon Hill,
necessitates looking into the different groups of interested individuals affected by the Beacon Hill
handicapped ramp decision.
Individuals with disabilities that require accessible handicapped ramps pose a problem for determining
the values that these individuals would give the Beacon Hill handicapped ramp and surrounding
sidewalks. Beacon Hill serves many different functions for people. For those persons with disabilities
who live on Beacon Hill, updated handicapped ramps could mean the difference having access to their
homes or having to move. For this group it is easy to determine a value for this analysis, as the price
they are willing to pay to live in the area. Beacon Hill is populated with various government offices
and private businesses, therefore a cost benefit analysis must factor in the value that individuals

The Idea Of Concealed Carry Arms Essay
The idea of Concealed Carry arms at universities is a controversial topic for both students and faculty
on whether guns should be allowed or banned on campuses throughout the United States. The idea of
Concealed Carry Arms is a controversial topic because it represents both protection and fear as no one
knows who has a weapon, whether they have it legally or even if they know how to use it properly and
safely. Also, nobody knows of someone else s intentions with Concealed Carry Arms as they could use
that gun for protection or murder. The idea of allowing Concealed Carry Arms on campus is a
controversial topic that could affect universities and campuses in the United States. The University of
Toledo has had one incident this year with guns on campus. At the beginning of the semester a person
that was believed to be another student pulled a gun on another student and demanded the victim s car
keys. When the victim refused, the gunmen fired a shot at the ground then ran. This brings up the
debate of whether people can be trusted to have Concealed Carry Arms on campus or not. Such as the
gunmen earlier this semester. The United States has also seen Problems at other schools with guns and
violence such as the Virginia Tech incident back in April of 2007 that left 32 victims as well as the
shooter dead (Virginia Tech Para. 2). The shooter was a Korean student named Seung Hui Cho who

Comparing Shakespeare s Oedipus The King And Death...
COMPARING TRAGEDIES THROUGHOUT TIME
By Daniel Konshak What is a tragedy? Merriam Webster dictionary defines tragedy as a serious drama
typically describing a conflict between the protagonist and a superior force, such as destiny, and
having a sorrowful or disastrous conclusion that elicits pity or terror. Two such examples of literary
tragedies are Oedipus the King by Sophocles and Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. Although
written over 2000 years apart, there are many similarities between the two literary works, but with
varying degrees of differences as well. Some of the key areas to be examined when making this
comparison are: the social status of the main characters, the psychological mindsets the characters are
in, their respective lack of self awareness, whether their fate was deserved or not, and the main fatal
flaw of each main character. Let s begin by first examining the social status of the two main characters
from each literary selection. In Oedipus the King by Sophocles, the main character is, of course,
Oedipus. As the story unfolds, we find that Oedipus has been plagued by the prophecy that said he
should lie with his own mother and be his father s murderer (Sophocles, 385). Oedipus, in trying to
break this prophecy, flees from the city to escape this fate. However, unbeknownst to Oedipus, he was
actually born in Thebes and not in the city of Corinth as he originally believed. So, instead of escaping
the city and the fate of the

  • 2. The Black And Colored People The problem in the communities of the black and colored people in America is there need to feel equal to their dominator. What happens with the black and colored people is they succumb to lower levels than they are worth and capable of to appease the problem. For example during the separate but equal era black business were booming, Black Wall Street was thriving, and black children were just as smart if not smarter than their other counter parts. Not by choice but because they had to be in order to compete the same is true today but less so. Their education was not monitored and didn t have to be white washed because it was ran by the people that looked and lived like them. During desegregation the life of American African people changed forever, in some ways for better and other ways for the worse. Integration was the turning point in the wrong direction for black people in my opinion. This was the start of internalized colonization done by European Americans. The American Africans have become assimilated and very docile or overconformity as Ruth Caven would say, to European culture. In doing this some black leaders will go out of their way not to step on the toes of European Americans because they feel a closeness and familiarity. This feeling of closeness hinders the ability to call them on the carpet for slavery, segregation, and all the other crimes up to date. In beating around the bush the problem cannot be addressed in any way shape or form. Not talking about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Blood Pressure, The Pressure Of Blood Blood pressure, the pressure of blood in the circulatory system, is a vital aspect to the human body in order to maintain homeostasis. Many Americans are not aware of the seriousness of having high blood pressure. High blood pressure is called Hypertension, which can be a silent killer if untreated. There are many causes of Hypertension, including diet, age and race. Doctors now are making classifications of pre hypertensive, which can help patients maintain their health and possibly avoid hypertension, if they follow the advice of their physician. Americans should eliminate fatty foods from their diet, be mindful of their age and race as they may become prone to Hypertension, which can lead to heart damage, heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke and maybe death if untreated. It is important to know what to do if one s blood pressure approaches the extremes, as it can be a sign of a serious health problem. Knowing what the norm is for systolic and diastolic pressure can help eliminate health dangers. An unusual blood pressure reading by itself, may not necessarily demand a 911 call (Thomas, George M.D, 2015). While the unusual blood pressure reading may not be a 911 emergency at that moment, it can still be a sign of trouble arising. It is important for to realize the seriousness of rises in blood pressure. Hypertension can be prevented with regular checking and monitoring of the blood pressure. If blood pressure reaches 140/90 or higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. School Prayer In School Thesis: The removal of school prayer was a bad thing for students morals. Prayer sets a standard for the students. Allowing prayer in school may improve a lot of things about the students at school. The behavior of students would change dramatically kids would not be mean to other students. Prayer is a action which proclaims that life is more than just saving an environment or accumulating wealth (Hovis 1). People might think that God is evil, our experiments with replacing affirmation of humanism has been a dismal failure. The only thing of evil is for good men to do nothing. Removing the school prayer sends a message to our children, when we allow laws to be passed which limit the free expression. The Federal and Supreme Court judges should be impeached who undermines the freedom which this country was founded. The situation has become so absurd that that congressional prayer cannot be voluntarily read in school buildings. The removal of school prayer was a bad thing for students morals. Mortality declines without prayer, prayer can shape a good citizen. With prayer students have something to gain, they can be more helpful with others and the peers around them. Since prayer was removed from school the violence has increased and grade have dropped. SAT s have dropped drastically. More kids have been birth out of wedlock. Increased in drug used and increased in juvenile crimes. Deterioration of school behavior also. People also have a choice to be faithful, most who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Genetic Disorder of Down Syndrome Noo Why my baby, this mother has just been given the news that her child has been diagnosed with Down Syndrome. Her child was one of many who will have trouble reading out loud or to even communicate. Who will grow up with not knowing if today will be a good day or not. Down Syndrome is just one case of genetic disorder. There are so many all over in the world and many doctors still don t even know what to call them. Some don t even know they have a disease in them till its too late, or other know all there lives and some learn to live with the disease and others live every day in fear of getting even more sick and hurt. Genetic disorders are very common some more than others. Its all has to do with our 46 chromosomes. Genetic disorders can occur to anyone. Many people believe genetic disorders only happen to those who have family cases with genetic disorders but, it s not something you can truly control. When a cell is going through Meiosis the outcome should be that every gametes should have 23 chromosomes which carry your genetic code. At the beginning of Meiosis each homologous chromosomes pairs up with another homologous chromosome and then they start exchanging genetic code. This process is called Crossing Over. During this process there is a small chance that the exchange didn t happen properly and not all the genetic code was transfer from one another. Which can later result in your genetic code failure. • 10. The Theme Of Religious Themes In The Birthmark By... Many of Nathaniel Hawthorne s works have very religious themes and overtones. His short story The Birthmark is no different. In this short story, many religious analogies are present. Hawthorne uses characterization, symbolism, and theme to make various statements about Christianity and sin. His characters can be seen as the two main figures in Christianity, God and Jesus. There are also many symbols in the story that have religious ties and connections. There are several themes present in the story that may give the reader insight into Hawthorne s religious views. All of these elements lend themselves to analysis with a spiritual focus. The two main characters of The Birthmark are Alymer, an intelligent yet arrogant scientist; and his wife, Georgiana, a beautiful, selfless woman with only one flaw, a birthmark on her cheek. Alymer believes that science can solve any problem. He also seems to think that he can use science to fix what most Christians would see as God s perfect creation: Georgiana s birthmark. Alymer sees himself as a god of sorts, and shows this when he attempts to improve on nature (Ellis 33). He is loving, but very controlling and sees himself as the highest power, much like God. His arrogance eventually becomes his downfall, because he is so confident in his ability to fix Georgiana that he ends up killing his wife, the most important thing in his life, except science. Georgiana however, is the exact opposite. Georgiana is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Immigration Policy And Foreign Policy Immigration policy and foreign policy are in many ways interlinked, as they are often used to meet goals in one another s policy areas. Together, they are used to enhance the safety of our citizens, making this topic particularly important. Immigration is specifically linked to our foreign policy efforts with underdeveloped countries (Keely 1978). To fully understand one policy area, you must understand aspects of the other. Thus, one should consider these relationships when analyzing and evaluating Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump s policies on immigration reform. Immigration policy can often be used as a tool for foreign policy goals. This usually occurs when national safety is threatened, and it is sparked by merely the perception that immigration and terrorism are linked. Many believe that terrorists can enter our country by manipulating Immigration laws such as refugee asylums, which leads to stricter immigration policy to better secure our national safety (Franzblau 1997, 4 11). Even now, the Republican Nominee for President of the United States, Donald Trump, makes statements like, our immigration system is being used to attack us (Hensch 2015). Regardless of the truth value behind his statement, it is relevant to note that the notion itself by such an important political figure could create a push for stricter immigration policy. The change in policy may be surrounding the issue of immigration, but the actual goal is the foreign policy goal of enhanced national ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are pictures in our family photo album of me holding a basketball at an age even younger than when I played in the T ball league, shooting it into a Mattel basketball hoop. Throughout the years, I ve played on various sports teams from little league baseball, YMCA basketball, high school football, and even a high status volleyball team during my time in the Marine Corps. I love sports and the team concept; in fact, a majority of my friends played in some type of league, or were former teammates of my own. I ve noticed throughout the years, as I look back on my life, that I had always been some sort of captain or role model, and even in the jobs I held I had always been promoted faster than my peers, and have always been given great recognition and appraisal. I have always been told I was a good leader, and people came to me willingly to seek assistance and advice. Still to this day, as a chief in my shop, and as a family friend, people turn to me for life coaching. I see this trend as well with some of my former teammates, and even some former High School and College athletes that enlisted in the services. Seeing this trend I began to wonder if there is a correlation between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Superego Of Sigmund Freud Sigmund Freud, a renowned psychologist and psychoanalyst, is notably known for creating the idea of the id, the ego and superego. These three concepts, according to Freud, make up the human psyche and provide some insight and understanding into how the human mind works. These so called systems in the brain are in no way physical but together, they make up a whole and contribute towards an individual s behavior. The id is described as the primitive component of one s personality as it consists of everything biologically inherited at birth. This includes one s instincts and sexual desires. The id can be described as being impulsive and contains all of the drives and hidden urges of an individual. Repressed memories in the unconscious mind resides in the id. Freud believed that the id, ego and superego developed at different stages in an individual s life. A newborn child is all id, as it does not have the morals and social influences that come with the ego and superego. The ego, unlike the id, is partly conscious and partly unconscious. It serves as the intermediary between the id and the superego as it makes decisions based on reason, instead of unrealistically and logically (as the id would) or based on morality and societal influences (as the superego would). The ego would create the realistic ways to fulfill the id s demands that are impulsive and with little regard to any consequences. Defense mechanisms exist within the ego due to the fact that it often faces anxiety ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Military Involvement of Women in Canadian History Introduction In the recent past women in the Canadian Forces have managed to reach integrated positions including position of combat in the military. Lack of research and knowledge that governs and supports women in these roles is a common phenomenon in many countries. Women have experienced gender disparity for a long time; however, with the help of other stakeholders and their effort they have persistently fought gender discrimination. When there is no appropriate research, there is a likelihood that the provided services may fail to target the actual need of women. For women in the military to be optimistic about the support, there is need for research that is to examine their experiences in the military. This discrimination has also been revealed by nontraditional research on women. From the history of Canadian Forces, women have really struggled to achieve pay and status equity and integration within the military ranks and positions. Their efforts have been faced with a number of barriers and setbacks which arise from the Canadian government that pave way for gender integration upon the military. The fact that women were being recruited and expanded job opportunities for them availed, the traditional military institutional norms, beliefs, values and procedures were being faced out to a great extent, (Baker, D. D., et.al, 1990). The beginning of change was in the North West Rebellion of 1885, went on through the next century to date. During these changes, women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Soviet Union As A Great Nation Although often overlooked World War 2 can arguably seen as the most critical event in the history of the Soviet Union. The result of the war was the epitome of Stalin s vision of success for the Soviet Union. The War initially had a significantly positive impact on the Soviet Union in the short term, however the results and effects of the War were a factor that ultimately led to the collapse of the Soviet Union as a whole. The short term impact World War 2 had for the Soviet Union was positive for the growth and evolution of the Soviet Union. The War both enhanced nationalism, and propelled the Soviet Union to a major world player. In the eyes of Stalin, WWII was exactly what the Soviet Union needed to evolve into a great nation. The war created great sense of nationalism and unity that strengthened the core of the Soviet Union. Just as Stalin had hoped for the Soviet Union became arguably the most nationalistic world power at the time; looking at the way the Soviet Union fought the war can reasonably conclude this. The Soviets didn t not fight the war conservatively whatsoever. Stalin and the Soviet army would take risks and lose lives in the name of defeating fascist enemies. The Soviet army fought the war as if they re entire societal system was on the line. Ordinary soldiers absorbed the attitudes of the Nazi and the Soviet leaders. Both sides believed that defeat would lead to annihilation of their way of life (Suny 343). Another positive impact WWII had on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Film Production Of The Movie Production Industry In the film production industry, the main goal is to produce a film that appeals to the audience and incorporate elements of the certain time period. In doing so, the production film must keep in mind the current trends and views of society. Stereotypes have been commonly present in society for as long as our history dates back to. Among these stereotypes, I will be focusing primarily on Asian stereotypes the primary reason being that I am an Asian American myself. The portrayal of these common stereotypes however, does not imply or mean that Americans view it in a positive light. Some of the most renowned and racist films in history are Breakfast at Tiffany s and Sixteen Candles. In addition to these films, I will be examining and analyzing the television series Gossip Girl and Fresh off the Boat to access a different perspective on the subject of how minorities are seen in American society. Asian America is known to be comprised of immigrants, the ninjas, the kung fu masters, small business owners, eastern mystics, Chinese restaurant waiters and people who can t pronounce their Ls and Rs properly. It s also land of slanted eyes, buck teeth, and incorrect grammar. It s a land of the yellow menace taking America s money. But we will dive deeper into that subject as this extended essay progresses, this is only the introduction portion of course. Today s lack of Asians on movie screens can be traced to the very beginning of American film. Back then, minorities including ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tartuffe Essay Tartuffe In his most notorious play Tartuffe, Molière relates the story of an attempt, by a manipulative hypocrite, to destroy the domestic happiness of a citizen who, charmed by his seeming piety, has taken him into his home as a respectable guest. He understood that it was strictly addressing hypocrisy, however concern about the play began to grow as its performance moved to Paris. Molière s adversaries claimed that under the fake motive of trying to expose hypocrisy, he actually sought to undermine the foundations of religion itself. Pressure from the opposition, which included the Catholic Church, the archbishop of Paris, the Queen Mother Anne of Austria, and the Company of the Holy Sacrament forced Louis XIV to ban the play in Paris. The argument could be made that The King s initial approval stemmed from the fact that Tartuffe includes patronage in the form of not so subtle flattery and references to Louis XIV and his family and associates, rather than the theme of hypocrisy versus sincerity. One instance of this being in the final act where the King s authorities come to arrest Tartuffe for a history of swindling people out of their fortune. Borrowing the plot details of various gothic novels, Catherine attempts to interpret the General s character to conform to the outlines of the evil and mysterious villain, a stock character in the Gothic novel. The general s worry over her well being is misread as a threat to Catherine. His avoidance of a path favoured by his late wife is misconstrued as guilt. Even the absence of the late Mrs Tilney s portrait in his room is attributed to cruelty. Imagination clouds her reason and deduction, as she assumes the worst despite lack of evidence. For instance, Catherine claims that there was a something in the turn of his features which spoke his not having behaved well to her, such something being an unspecified product of her fantasy. As she gradually comes to think the worst of the General, it is because she has often read of such characters. Unlike the book in The Oval Portrait , which represented a retreat from the extreme to reality, books in Northanger Abbey represents Catherine s alternate reality, that of a gothic mystery. She considers herself a heroine living through her books and pursuing some other truth. The newborn is delivered and is stimulated to breathe and then is followed by inspirations, followed by a cry showing a successful arrival to this world, but not all deliveries go as planned. There are diseases of the respiratory system. The most common disease is Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS). The Primary cause of RDS is the underdevelopment of the premature lungs states Perretta, 2015. RDS is caused by a deficiency and immaturity of alveolar surfactant with the anatomical immaturity of the premature infants lungs. The incidence of RDS increases with decreasing gestational age says J. Haitsma, 2010. The biggest factor is surfactant deficiency caused by decreased surface area in the lungs for proper gas exchange and thick alveolar capillary membranes. Surfactant replacement therapy for preterm infants with RDS has shown to be a major breakthrough in neonatal medicine, says J. Wirbelauer and Speer, 2009. It has become routine for the prevention and treatment for infants suffering from respiratory distress syndrome. Similarly, product liability claims would be more difficult to certify, especially those involving pharmaceuticals, because the symptoms, latent period, and extent of injuries often vary dramatically across class members. This new requirement is the change most likely to have the biggest impact on how class actions proceed, mainly because its language is vague and susceptible to differing interpretations. So, while on the one hand, the addition of a new requirement may decrease the number of cases that are allowed to proceed as class actions, on the other hand, there will likely be an increase in litigation dealing with how type and scope should be interpreted. Reliable and feasible method of distribution The Act would add an additional requirement to class certification by requiring that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effects Of Poverty In Developing Countries Poverty is believed to be a global phenomenon and it is caused by lack of resources, war and political conflicts, natural disasters and inheritance of poverty in a country. Social discrimination is one of the many causes of poverty in developing countries. It does not only cause but also act as a hurdle in alleviating poverty. According to Pernia and Quibria (1999), poverty has many dimensions other than income or consumption. Among the other dimensions are health, nutrition, education and gender equality. UNIFEM (2000) also proclaimed that an alternative approach is used to define poverty such as lack of assets, dignity, autonomy and time apart from being elucidated as shortcomings in consumption or income. Therefore, the three effects of social discrimination that contributes to poverty in developing countries that this essay would discuss on are gender inequalities in education, gender variabilities in work force and racial background disparities. The major reason for deforestation is agriculture. The land can be utilized as farmland and raising livestock. Another benefit of deforestation is the obvious. Wood. Everyone and their brother uses a product or byproduct of wood every day whether it being for the use of construction, the furniture in homes or the paper in notebooks. Deforestation also creates jobs. Employment is given to the individuals who cut down the trees as well as the ones who are processing them. This employment is also extended to those producing the byproducts such as pencils and paper. The cleared land can also serve as ground for potential urbanization. Crystal Lombardo makes an excellent point on this benefit of deforestation. She says With 10 billion people expected to be on the planet by the year 2050 and no end to the growth explosion in sight, space is becoming a premium on Earth. When forests are on lands that could be used for habitation, then removing the forest creates more livable space. Homes and businesses can even be built using the products that have been removed from the biome . Although there are many benefits to deforestation, is it really worth it? There are many benefits to deforestation, however, the destruction is not worth the real cost. According to the numbers at Conserve Energy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Utilitarianism The Utilitarian theory of property seeks to maximize the population s utility when a property decision is made, the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. To apply this theory, one must define and aggregate a measure of utility comparable for all people in a cost benefit analysis. A popular measure of utility, under the welfarist economics utilitarian view, is utilizing the price a person is willing to pay for a good or service as the value to be aggregated in the cost benefit analysis. Furthermore, other economic measures, such as how a decision increases a person s wealth, will not reach the full population affected by this decision, as some parties, like tourists, do not have their wealth increased by such a public property decision. • 38. Comparing Shakespeare s Oedipus The King And Death... COMPARING TRAGEDIES THROUGHOUT TIME By Daniel Konshak What is a tragedy? Merriam Webster dictionary defines tragedy as a serious drama typically describing a conflict between the protagonist and a superior force, such as destiny, and having a sorrowful or disastrous conclusion that elicits pity or terror. Two such examples of literary tragedies are Oedipus the King by Sophocles and Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. Although written over 2000 years apart, there are many similarities between the two literary works, but with varying degrees of differences as well. Some of the key areas to be examined when making this comparison are: the social status of the main characters, the psychological mindsets the characters are in, their respective lack of self awareness, whether their fate was deserved or not, and the main fatal flaw of each main character. Let s begin by first examining the social status of the two main characters from each literary selection. In Oedipus the King by Sophocles, the main character is, of course, Oedipus. As the story unfolds, we find that Oedipus has been plagued by the prophecy that said he should lie with his own mother and be his father s murderer (Sophocles, 385). Oedipus, in trying to break this prophecy, flees from the city to escape this fate. However, unbeknownst to Oedipus, he was actually born in Thebes and not in the city of Corinth as he originally believed. So, instead of escaping the city and the fate of the ...
