Job Search
Job searching, job hunting or job seeking is the act of looking for employment, due to unemployment or discontent with a current position. The immediate goal of job seeking is usually to obtain a job interview with an employer which may lead to getting hired. The job hunter or seeker typically first looks for job vacancies or employment opportunities. Traditionally, job seekers used to flip through newspapers, listen to radio advertisements or physically visit companies for job possibilities, The advent of computers and Social Media has changed the way job seekers and recruiters search for jobs or candidates respectively.
Disadvantages and advantages of Social Networking
If anyone were to “Google” your name what would they find? This is what many job seekers should think about before they upload inappropriate content on a social networking websites. Some believe an employer does not have the right to delve into the private lives of their prospective employees. However, prospective employers think differently because what their employees do may have a bearing on how their workers perform, and what employees do on their off time may reflect poorly on the company’s image. Social networking can be helpful to both job seekers and employers; they can begin by starting something that's related to your career interest. Your blog could also help showcase your skills and track you job search. Here are few Do's and Don’ts of social networking.
· Be careful of what you put online. With the power of cloud computing and enormous storage devices, search engines and social media channels are storing tons of information about you, and are they readily available online.
· Be careful of what you write or post online because deleting an 'inappropriate picture' from your social media page like Facebook doesn't mean that the picture will not be found when searched. The social media channels have ultimate power to retain materials posted, and search engines can trace almost anything posted online.
· Creating an online account and posting resumés on job sites like Dice, Indeed, Simplyhired, Beyond, TheLadders, Monster etc. exposes your online presence (your resume) to many recruiters and makes your resumé easily searchable. An online resume should include relevant industry standard 'keywords' to make it searchable.
· Be consistent with your online presence information: be consistent with your experience, education or information your post on different channels, because that can easily bite you. Remember your online presence is a public entity——people can access it anytime——and misrepresenting your experience, education or simply being inconsistent can damage your online credibility. Do frequently "Google" yourself to see your online presence, you might be surprise with the outcome.
· Do not use inappropriate images or party pictures as your LinkedIn profile photo or on your portfolio, becaus.

1. I would say that Domino’s focuses on the shareholder perspective. This is largely in part to the fact that when you visit their website, right off the bat they have a tab for investors (aka future stakeholders). Looking even deeper into the website, it has multiple sections where it talks about the returns made to investors, its competitive advantage of using effective business strategies, as well as stock pricing and past amounts made in the stock market.
2. Some disadvantages of using the shareholder perspective for a company is first off, that information is always retroactive. You’re constantly looking at past successes hoping that they will follow suit and predict future trends. A huge issue with this is the notion of correlation doesn’t account for causation. Furthermore, it is just a small glimpse of the company itself. This information isn’t always compared to outside forces giving it a very narrow view.

Question 1:
I believe Domino’s Pizza is focusing on the shareholder perspective. Under the strengths section they mention they are the largest pizza company in the world based on global retail sales, and the number one pizza delivery company in the United States. Also, they emphasize technological innovations and product innovations. For example, by focusing on technology customers can reorder their favorite menu item in less than 30 seconds. Potential and current investors will see these strengths and how Domino’s is planning to sustain a competitive advantage in the pizza industry, which in turn will have more people investing in Domino’s and hoping for a nice return on their investment.
Question 2:
One disadvantage of the shareholder perspective is macroeconomic factors. Right now the unemployment rate is really high in Michigan and the country due to the corona virus. This has caused a lot of stocks to plummet and lose value. By solely focusing on the shareholder perspective one can lose sight of other important advantages of company. Another disadvantage of the shareholder perspective is the psychological mood of investors. For example, there are times when stocks have a lot of hype around them causing people to panic buy which inflates the value of the stock. In reality, the stock should not be valued that high. Typically, after a few weeks of excitement surrounding the stock, it adjusts to appropriate value which usually means people lose money on their investment.

Although most people do not like how much data the Internet has on us, it almost feels as if there is nothing we can do about it. We are giving so many websites free data on us without even realizing it. I learned some applications can access our contacts and sell them, which is probably why we get so many spam phone calls. 2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

4. are you using social media?
If you are a student and a young adult, the chances are
– Yes, you are using Social Media to connect with your
friends.
Do you have a blog, Facebook account, Twitter
account? Do you leave comments on blogs or forums?
If any of the answer to the above question is yes, you
are leaving behind digital footprints.
5. digital footprint
Internet users are becoming more aware of their digital
footprint.
Most internet users are not concerned about the amount of
information available.
Most do not take steps to limit that information.
Fully 60% of internet users say they are not worried about how
much information is available about them online.
Majority of online adults (61%) do not feel compelled to limit
the amount of information that can be found about them
online.
6. I know you
Anyone can tell a great deal about
you from your digital footprints.
- where you've been
- where you are
- who you know
- where you work
- what your hobbies are
- what you think about certain issues
-and much more.
7. why should you be concerned?
HR departments, recruiters, universities are searching the
Internet when you Interact with them.
They're looking to:
a) validate what your actual resume/application said
b) learn more about you … in a non office environment.
In effect, every job seeker of the future will be not unlike a
political candidate. Hopefully their closets are squeaky clean,
and if not, devise strategies to address it.
In essence, your digital footprint is your resume.
10. dynamics of social media
• Invisible Audiences. We are used to being able to assess the people
around us when we're speaking. We adjust what we're saying to
account for the audience. Social media introduces all sorts of
invisible audiences.
• There are lurkers who are present at the moment but whom we
cannot see, but there are also visitors who access our content at a
later date or in a different environment than where we first
produced them.
• As a result, we have to present ourselves and communicate without
fully understanding the potential or actual audience.
11. dynamics of social media
• Collapsed Contexts. Connected to this is the collapsing of contexts. In choosing
what to say when, we account for both the audience and the context more
generally. Social media brings all of these contexts crashing into one another
and it's often difficult to figure out what's appropriate, let alone what can be
understood.
• Blurring of Public and Private. Finally, there's the blurring of public and
private. These distinctions are normally structured around audience and
context with certain places or conversations being "public" or "private." These
distinctions are much harder to manage when you have to contend with the
shifts in how the environment is organized.
12. Google you
For those in the job market, it's critical to learn how to
monitor and manage electronic information about
yourself. While you can't control all the information out
there, there are some steps you can take to ensure that
your digital footprint presents an accurate, favorable, and
professional image of you.
Google yourself (yes Google is now a verb) and find out
what information about you — if any — is already online.
You may find very little is linked to your name, or you may
discover much more information about you than you
anticipated.
13.
14. YOU
If an online search of yourself reveals items
that you wouldn't want hiring managers to
see, such as photos or commentary you
posted in an open forum, contact the person
who posted the information or the website
administrator to ask that it be taken down.
It is never too late or too early to start and
rebrand yourself.
15. Do you know your digital footprint?
Are you managing it yet?
16. Think Before You Post
It’s easy to get caught up in the moment and write or do something that may
seem hilarious at the time. But remember, what you say can really hurt someone,
or come back to haunt you. Think before you post. It only takes a second or two.
Ask yourself if you really want to say it. Make sure you don’t mind if your friends,
classmates, or teachers hear about it later.
Also remember that any information you post – whether in a comment, a note,
or a video chat – might be copied, pasted, and distributed in ways that you didn't
intend. Before you post, ask yourself - would I be OK if this content was shared
widely at school or with my future employer?
At the same time, we all make mistakes. If you find yourself wishing you hadn’t
said or done something, it’s never too late to apologize.
17. Tips for Teens
Don’t share your password with anyone.
Only accept friend requests from people you know.
Don’t post anything you wouldn’t want your parents,
teachers, or employer to see.
Be authentic. The real you is better than anything you
might pretend to be.
Learn about privacy settings, and review them often.
18. Report Abusive Content
Be sure to always report abusive content—
whether it’s on your profile page, or someone
else’s. You can also report inappropriate Pages,
Groups, Events and fake or impostor profiles.
(Remember that reporting is confidential, so no
one will know who made the report.)
36. We need to stand up against bullying and cyberbullying. We
need to be leaders for all.
We need to understand how our online actions affect others
AND how they affect our own lives presently and in the future.
Stand up.
Stand up now.
Stand up for those who can’t.
Stand up for those who need YOU.
Stand up because YOU MATTER.
Stand up because YOU MATTER to others.
You need to market yourself to gain attention and eventually do what you like doing. Don ’ t hide your talents, simply share your knowledge and brand yourself as an expert in what you do.
