Classroom technologies can enhance developing assessment and instructional feedback in three key ways:
1) Formative assessment and instructional feedback are improved through the use of learner response systems like clickers, which allow for frequent assessment of student progress and immediate feedback.
2) Summative assessment is also enhanced with technologies like clickers, as they provide immediate results and save scoring time.
3) Various technologies provide alternatives to the traditional 100-point grading scale, instead using rubrics to provide more detailed feedback aligned to learning objectives.
Part of the requirements in GURO21 Course 1 is the crafting of one's professional development plan (PDP). This document is an example of such which contains my plans for personal and professional development which will further ripple its influence to the academe.
Flipped Learning - Where's the Evidence? - Pete Mella, Kirsten Bartlett, Gare...telshef
Flipped learning, the teaching method of giving students pre-session materials to consume and using lecture time for active learning, is a well-known educational concept, but where is the evidence of its effectiveness? In this session Pete Mella (CiCS TEL Team) will give an overview of how a flipped classroom method is being used at the University, and we will hear from academics Gareth Bramley (Law), Kirsten Bartlett (Psychology) and Sam Marsh (Maths & Statistics) on their own research, looking at topics including student feedback, attainment and the psychology of flipped learning, as well as advice on how flipped methods can be evaluated in your own practice.

Using Moodle to Support Blended Learning (When the Instructor Is Also the Pro...Saul Carliner
Presents the case of converting two graduate level courses in educational technology to a blended format. Describes the objectives and structures of the courses, the reasons for blending the courses, and the process and results of doing so.
This one hour workshop was focused on supporting postdoctoral researchers to consider how to professional their supervisory practice both for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
Peer observation is a ‘curriculum conversation’ that encourages the sharing of teaching ideas and reflection. So how does this work at Navitas and how can it improve the quality of teaching and learning?

Interestingly, what was conceived as being good online learning pedagogy, say 5 years ago, is now being challenged by newer student-centred approaches that have evolved in learning and teaching, linked with the new technologies that have advanced to help us do this. These technologies now allow students to work more collaboratively in more authentic ways. That is, how they might work collaboratively in the workplace. What has also changed is the emphasis on the student and how providing them with a greater level of agency in their learning presents more traditional educators with new challenges. This presentation looks at some options for those looking to understand and meet those challenges head-on. We will consider how changing just one or two assessments to be more authentic, in the first instance, may help you recreate your practice over time. Who knows, some of the student-centred learning approaches suggested may even make your assessments more robust, with students less likely to want to cheat. Either way, engaging with more contemporary learning technologies may allow students to experience a range of authentic solutions that you might also benefit from in the future.
Bringing together internal and external students on Blackboard - Brett Fyfiel...Blackboard APAC
With the recent redevelopment of postgraduate courses in project management for the School of Civil Engineering and the Built Environment, new challenges were faced to make units more inclusive of a variety of enrolment preferences. The short term ambitions for the courses included developing units that are delivered both facetoface, and entirely online and have the potential to be scaled to meet the growing demand for continuing professional education. To ensure that students could join either facetoface or online offerings of the same units, the implementation team brought internal and external cohorts together on the same unit sites on Blackboard. The units are currently under evaluation but some early learnings may provide insight into new approaches to blended learning, and how these approaches have facilitated new ways of teaching and learning through tentative academic culture change.
Delivered at Innovate and Educate: Teaching and Learning Conference by Blackboard. 24 -27 August 2015 in Adelaide, Australia.
Science, Technology & Society (STS) is an interdisciplinary field of study that seeks to explore and understand the many ways that modern science and technology shape modern culture, values, and institutions, and how modern values shape science and technology.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
