Chinese workers being exploited by their wealthy factoryowners and supervisors. Working

These conditions provide some power and control for these multinational corporations over their
workers. The Chinese workers are powerless against the influence of the corporate executives.
They are able to ultimately set the pace of production as well as the wages of the workers (
Working Conditions ). Sine corporations may deny any connection to these labor abuses in
China. However, with these powers, these corporations cannot shy away from the fact that they
did have some degree of responsibility for the conditions of Chinese workers. Microsoft, HP,
Dell, and IBM are large corporations that produce various computer electronics and accessories
such as desktop computers, laptops, and keyboards. A factory in China s Dongguan City,
Guangdong province helps to produce computer accessories such as keyboards and printer cases
for these corporations (Kernaghan). Workers at the Guangdong factory work much more
extensive hours than do Americans. They work twelve hours a day for seven days a week to make
five hundred keyboards an hour at a $0.76 hourly wage (Kernaghan). Unlike other prosperous
nations, these Chinese workers are not able to enjoy many days off or vacations. Instead, these
workers only get two days off a month and if a worker took a Sunday off, he would have his pay
docked by two and a half days worth of wages (Kernaghan). It is not fair that taking a day off from

The Impact Of Western Imperialism In East Asia
Jun Woo Kang
Mr. Tirkey
IB MYP World History
April 29th, 2016
The western imperialism in East Asia begins with European interactions into what was at the
moment called East Indies. This began during the 15th century in search of trade routes leading to
the Age of Exploration of the European empires which were in the flourishing cultural and
intellectual developments with Renaissance. By the early 16th century, European merchants greatly
expanded Western European influence and established numerous trade posts with the countries in
Asia, benefiting the European countries economically. This trend originated from the Portuguese
breaking the monopoly of the Arabs and Italians of trade between Asia and Europeby the discovery
of sea route between the two continents. As a direct result, Western empires introduced their
different ideologies to the East such as their Christian beliefs, and their new weaponries. Before the
Industrial Revolution in the end of 19th century, demand for oriental goods such as spices, silk and
tea remained the driving force behind European imperialism, and the European dominance in East
Asia endured with already established trading posts between the two continents. However,
industrialization dramatically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hawaii s Antithetic Cultures
There are many different factors that affect what Hawaiians eat, and some of them aren t as
obvious as you might think. Unlike what most people think pineapples are not the most prevalent
food in Hawaii (unless you go to the tourist places then it will be the most abundant thing that you
will find). This is a result of the unique limitations that are present in Hawaii, that are not seen in
most of the world. Since Hawaii has a lot of antithetical cultures that affects their fooddramatically,
you can see this in the traditional food, and the roles that the people paid in society. Unlike our
traditional food, which is not really a thing because the United Stateswas inhabited all over by
different cultures during different times, this is one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most famous dishes in Hawaii is poi, it is even served in some not Hawaiian fast food
places. Poi, is made from the taro plant s root that have been mashed and mixed with water,
giving it the consistency of mashed potatoes. It was most commonly served underneath the other
things on the plate, much like rice or regular mashed potatoes in other cultures. Taro, as stated by
Andwhae Grows in patches with cool running water , taro is one of the most common edible
plant s on the Hawaiian islands. It was also very easy to harvest since it was located on the
ground and you only had to forage for it. The most plentiful source of meat that Hawaiians have
is fish, the second being the local wild hogs that inhabited most of the islands. Fishing was a big
part of Hawaiian culture and played a great role in their religion as well. The people who fished
(which were men) were one of the highest roles in society only below the chieftain and holy
comunicarii. And, as Hawaii is a tropic island they have an abundance of vegetables and other
plants that they could easily cultivate as a result of the rich soil and almost constant rain. Unlike
other cultures the Hawaiians started off early with cultivating and farming their

rule or else you might get disqualified. You can search for it if you don t have any idea. 2. Form a
title. Usually titles are in a form of a question. This are examples. The question can start in how,
does and many other. Does temperature affect the growth of molds?
Does salt affect the density of water?
3. Research your idea. You have to know your idea more. You can do this by reading, surfing the
Internet or discussing it. Knowing your idea more will help you construct your work. 4. Form a
hypothesis. Hypothesis will be your prediction in the idea that you choose. You don t need to

title, you can determine what the investigative study is all about.
Abstract
The Abstract should be one or two paragraphs only. It includes your research problems, the method
or procedure that you used and the findings or conclusion of the study.
Chapter I
1. Introduction and Its Background
The Introduction is about one page only wherein it includes the background of the study and its
rationale. It usually leads into the research problem.
2. Statement of the Problem
The Statement of the Problem has two categories namely: the general problem and specific
problems. Usually, one general problem and three specific problems which derived from the
general problem. The research problems should be specific, reliable, valid, measurable, objectively
stated. It can be a question form or in a declarative statement.
3. Formulation of the Hypothesis
The Formulation of the Hypothesis has two types namely: the null hypothesis and affirmative
hypothesis. Hypotheses is a scientific guess which intends subject for thorough investigation. It is
recommended to use null hypothesis in your research project.

Advantages Of Homeschooling
Every year, there is a gradual intake of debates on whether homeschooling is more effective than
public schooling. Since 2003, there has been a steady increase of 36% of students being
homeschooled in the United States, and a statistic of 1.5 million students being homeschooled in
2007 (Bergstrom 5). As more and more students are being homeschooled, it is beginning to become
a more effective way of learning and lifestyle than going to public school. Despite the disadvantages
people accuse about homeschooling, it can actually improve the life of students by giving them a
better advantage to a social life, reducing the risk of being involved in alcohol or drug use,
developing a higher standard of maturity and morals that students of public schooling do not have,
and having more success in schoolwork and learning.
Throughout a child s life of public schooling, they have a vast variety of social interactions with
other students and their teachers, but despite what many peers believe about the interactions in
homeschooling, they too have the same and even more as those in public schooling. According to
Koehler, studies have shown that the, homeschooled population demonstrated above average of
overall social skills, (Koehler 4). Because homeschoolers do not get the same advantages as public
schooling, they gain a wide variety of socialization throughout experiences offered at church groups,
playing at parks, joining outside clubs or organizations, and tutoring groups. By

The Comprehensive Security Policy In The Trojan War
Comprehensive Security Policy
Introduction
A company that experiences a social engineering attack to create or reevaluate its security plan in
respect to its email, acceptable use, physical security and incident response plan. Social engineering
attacks have been around forever across many different cultures and platforms. The first major
social engineering attack happened during the mythological Trojan War. The Greek after a ten
year unsuccessful siege of Troy appeared to leave, and leave behind a huge wooden statue of a
horse as a parting gift. The Trojans wheeled in the horse through the gates and proceeded to
celebrate their victory not aware that the horse contained Greek soldiers. The soldiers late at night

Water holing is an attack using malware which allows the attacker to observe websites often visited
by a victim and infects those sites with malware. Attacks using whaling the goal of whaling is to
trick someone into disclosing organizational or personal information through social engineering,
email spoofing and content spoofing efforts. Whaling is typically directed towards the powerful,
wealthy and prominent individuals. Pretexting is an attack that the attacker presents their self as

manipulate victims into performing an action that allows an attacker to discover and exploit a
weakness inside an organization. Finally, attackers use baiting which is a technique to exploits the
victim s natural curiosity. Baiting relies on the curiosity or greed of the victim and is very similar
to phishing attacks. Prevention and Detection The keys to prevention and detection of social

Generational Themes In Hamlet
Hamlet is a play that despite age, can deliver themes that consistently transcend generational
differences, even when those differences span hundreds of years. It is the strength of these themes
in Hamlet that has given the play such overwhelming cultural gravitas that allows it to remain
relevant to this day. As such, it is a highly appropriate play for high schoolstudents to study. The
core messages of generational conflict, unfolding to one s true self, and morality are struggles faced
by both Hamlet, and high school students. Consequently, this can motivate students in their studies
when they discover a character, that despite the difference in time, is so easily relatable. When
students recognize similarities between Hamlet and themselves, such as a distaste for the tedious
old fools (2.2.219) with their plentiful lack of wit (2.2.199), it creates a connection between the
students and this seemingly ancient piece of literature. A connection, that hopefully after the high
school level, can be nurtured into a passion for literature. A connection that allows for greater
insight and analysis at this current level. A connection, that if students are discouraged from
making now, they are unlikely to make later in their lives, as once they grow older the heyday in
the blood is tame. (3.4.69) and they will no longer be able to connect with the younger characters
such as Hamlet, or the young Fortinbras, / Of unimproved mettle hot and full (1.1.95 96).

others could be more severe, occurring suddenly or possibly developing slowly over time1.
Cases of SLE could be a permanent fixture in an individual s life, or could be temporary,
decreasing in occurrence or symptoms in women during and after menopause1. Fatigue is one of
the more common signs and symptoms in close to 80% of the cases reported, which in turn leads
to decreased physical activity and subsequently a lessened ability to execute activities of daily

Colorado Rocky Mountains Essay
When it comes to traveling, there are many destinations some may think of, either by identifying
them by their geographical landscape or famous attractions. They may know of a location from
personal experience or their knowledge of well known travel locations. The Colorado Rocky
Mountains is respected nationally as a go to spot for all sorts of attractions. They have the

The Colorado Rocky Mountains are claimed to be one of the most intriguing and adventurous
lands to visit nationally and globally. Primarily, the Rocky mountains are most visited for the
skiing resorts, aside from the many other activities and locations to visit. I will persuade the
audience what I believe an ideal weekend trip or vacation would be, and the steps and guidelines
in making the vacation possible. The locations being covered would be some of the biggest
attractions in the Colorado Rocky Mountains: the ski resorts. Some resorts credited with being the
best that the Rockys can bring to a particular individual or group of people are: Keystone resort,
Aspen, Loveland, Breckenridge, Ski Cooper. Although these are only a few of the locations the
Colorado Rockies have to offer there are plenty more, thus I

My Mother Served As Minister Of Music
Eleven years ago I walked into a church. From the outside it looked like your ordinary, everyday
church, but on the inside...on the inside it felt like coming home. I went from a young girl
wounded by the hypocrisy of well meaning church goers, to a woman on fire for God and ready to
step out in my Godgiven destiny as a warrior for the Lord.
I have been a believer since the age of seven. I can remember the exact feeling as the Holy Spirit
filled me with such longing to be a part of the family of God that I could barely sit still until the
invitation to come forward was given. But even before that, I had been in church from infancy.
My mother served as minister of music for many years, and church functions were as natural to
me as breathing. But it does not take much for the tender heart to be wounded by those that no
matter how well intentioned think they know better than God, and manage to impose their
judgement and harsh words on others. I was too new to my walk, and too stuck at my traditional
faith maturity level, to understand I should not confuse the people of God with the heart of
God. I stopped going to church, and, often with the exception of times of struggle I did not even
pray. I had no idea the relationship I was missing out on because, you see, the church I grew up
in knew the Word of God but they failed to share the heart of God. Therefore, I saw the Lord only
as my judge and jury, I did not understand the grace, mercy and goodness of God. I couldn t

Analysis Of The Hockey Sweater
Maurice Richard, a man who grew up during the Great Depression with a large family with
hopes and dreams of one day being an NHL player, was man that embodied French culture and the
oppressed middle class. He faced massive adversity and discrimination by opposing players,
referees, fans and the NHL president himself just for being French Canadianand proud of his
heritage. He was seen as a god like figure by residents of Quebecand was heavily worshipped by
these people. He was the voice for these French Canadians went they lost it to the English
Canadians. He had compared to Jackie Robinson as a leader of a minority group and represented
them to be successful in sports in North America. Jackie Robinson was a black baseball player
who broke the color barrier in the 1950s and burst onto the scene as an All Star and became one
of the top players in the league who carried his team to the top. But most people remember him
for his resiliency as he faced adversity from white players and executives alike in the league and
inspired millions of young kids to one day be like him. Richard can be compared to this as he
likewise arose as a French Canadian in a massively English Canadianleague and quickly became
one of the top stars and inspiring a generation of young hockey fans to one be like him. A short
story was written about how Richard was viewed in Quebec called the Hockey Sweater and was

The Association Between Parenting And Its Effect On Child...
Now that the association between parenting and its effect on child behavior is made relative, we
can take a look at negative parenting styles and its association with delinquency. Wilma Smeenk,
and Jan Gerris have done an analysis that associated parenting with delinquency. This analysis was
able to link parental monitoring, psychological control, and negative aspects of support like
rejection and hostility. The demographic was divided by parentand child gender, child age,
informant on parenting, and delinquency type.
Parenting dimensions have been proposed by two dimensions, support and control. These
dimensions are used to analyze the quality of parenting behaviors. The support dimension refers to
parenting towards children that makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Authoritarian control is more directed to adult oriented, restricted, and firm discipline techniques. It
emphasizes the negative aspect of control like harsh punishment and rejection. Authoritative control
has positive effects on child behavior unlike authoritarian control which has been found to have
negative effects on the children.
Males appear to participate in more delinquent behaviors than females do. One ideas shows that
males may be vulnerable to risk factors for delinquency because of sub par parenting. Another idea
is that delinquency is the same for males and females, but boys are more exposed to to
opportunities for delinquency than females. In addition to child gender, the gender of the parent
also plays a role. The link between fathers parenting and mothers parenting to a child s delinquency
can be different. The amount of time a father and mother spends with their child is not the same.
The study suggests that the differences between the link between delinquency and paternal and
maternal parenting, a fathers supportive behavior was more strongly related to delinquency than
mothers support. In order to analyze whether the same sex between parents and child influenced
delinquent behavior the study broke up subjects by fathers sons and mothers daughters, and fathers
daughters and mothers sons The link

Personal Code Of Ethics Essay
Should a person be allowed autonomy over the safety of public health? Does the CDC have the
right to detain an individual based on the safety of the general public when the individual is thought
to have a certain illness that has built up a resistance to antibiotics? This means that anyone who
comes in contact with this individual could possibly contract the disease that antibiotics can t fix.
When I thought about this ethical dilemma I actually had a hard time deciding which way I would
go in my ethics because my code has reasons both would cause a dilemma in my ethical thinking.

They were acting on behalf of the general public and were doing what the job requires of them.
So when working at the CDC I imagine that job comes with its own code of ethics and that job
would require a code that states working for the good of the public even if it means detaining
someone and restricting a person s freedom for the better good of the public. Because in this
class everyone learned that a person can be bicodal and this allows someone to have multiple
codes in their lives (Morrison, 2009). Isolating an individual goes against my personal code of
ethics because a person s freedom is important to their way of life but as a professional I need to
worry about my employees and individuals in my care. So yes in my professional opinion the
CDC acted ethically in detaining an individual thought to have a communicable disease. This
agrees with my code on courage, caring, loyalty and integrity. I this goes a bit towards paternalism
but at sometimes professionals do know what is best for well being of the public and this is
definitely not ensuring patients come first and making them comfortable and satisfied but this
ensures the health of multitudes over the happiness on one (Morrison,

In the third case, a tromino bridges this strip. In each of the two formats seen above, because there

Proof. If the strip ends with a square,
there are pn 1 ways to tile the strip. If the strip ends with a tromino,
there are pn 3 ways to tile the strip. Adding up 2 conditions, pn = pn 1 + pn 3
Theorem 7. p0 + p1 + p2 + p3 + p4 + В·В· В· + pn = pn+3 1
Proof. Question: How many ways are there to tile a strip of length n+3 using squares and trominos
with at least one tromino?
Answer1: There are pn+3 ways to tile a strip of length n + 3, but I need to exclude the situation
that all tiles are squares. So, there are pn+3 1 ways.
Answer2: Base this on the position of the last tromino.
If the last tromino is here (see above), there are pn ways to tile.
If the last tromino is here (see above), there are pn 1 ways to tile.
If the last tromino is here (see above), there are pn 2 ways to tile.
So, following this pattern, the position of the last tromino moves to the left. So, in conclusion,
there are pn + pn 1 + pn 2 + В·В· В· + p1 + p0 ways to tile a strip of length n +3 using at least one
tromino.
Answer1 is equal to Answer2.
So I proved that p0 + p1 + p2 + p3 + p4 + В·В· В· + pn = pn+3 1

Difference Between Art And Contemporary Art
Christian Casas
Rafael Hernandez
LIT3400
The Everyday
A typical way of relating social/political issues to art assumes that art represents the thing one
way or another. But there can be a more interesting perspective, which is looking at the field of
art as a place of work. Basically look at what it does not what it shows. Amid all other forms of art,
fine art has been associated with post Fordist ideology. Post Fordism is a popular system of
economically based on production, consumption and has been in most industrialized countries since
the late 20th century. Contemporary art is not an out of this world discipline hidden away in some
remote building. In fact, it s the opposite because it positions itself in the thick of things. It can
function as a brand name without a brand feeding off the bits and pieces of social and political
issues. Presently, contemporary art has grown apart from important hubs, which gives the artist a
wider range of production and provides various opportunities for showcasing the work. In contrast,
this has not always been the case. Artist in novels about portraitures are depicted as servants due to
the flow of cash. Art should be functioning on its own without the need of an institutional backing
in order to create separation between the artist and their work as well as what the work can do .
Portraits appear as an object already existing in the world and about whose producer and the process
of production not much (most often nothing) needs

Synopsis Of The Novel Train On Pakistan By Khushwant...
The well known novel Train to Pakistan initiates study on theme of partition. This story opens the
phase of political hatred, violence and sectarianism in a brilliant and realistic way. Related to those
decisive or fateful days, which were brought by the British Raj followed by destruction, death and
deracination for the north of the subcontinent; Khushwant Singhrefers to the fact that Indiamight
have gained independence then, but the price they paid for it was Partition . The strength and the
power of unity were deliberately divided between the two nations. It depicts the pitiful tale of
individuals and communities suffered in the revolution of Partition. Tran to Pakistanillustrates the
agony suffered on both sides of the political boundaries India and Pakistan after the partition.
In general, partition uprooted the whole country and it is described as one of the deadliest
experience the natives ever had of leaving their belongings behind and adapting the idea of new
land, which was not theirs. The harrowing and spine chilling events of 1947 had shaken the faith
of the people in the innate human beings. It had driven them into the state of wonder over what
man has made of man. To Khushwant Singh, this was a period of great disillusionment and crisis
of values, a distressing and disintegrating period of his life. The belief he had cherished all his life
was shattered. Giving strength to his inner struggle and agony, he says: I had believed in the innate

King Wuulf s Influence Of The Hero Of Beowulf
In the beginning of the poem Beowulf , one can recognize the excitement that the king expresses
when Beowulf arrives to help defend the land of the Danes. The king of land, Hrothgar is grateful
when Beowulf states that he is going to fight off Grendel, but the king warns Beowulf and urges
him to not become a warrior and ruler that expresses too much pride in himself. Hrothgar continues
on and insists that Beowulfremains peaceful, yet ready to battle, but not to become to driven by
violence and too war minded. Although at the time Beowulf expressed interest and seemed to
agree with the advice that was being handed to him by King Hrothgar, he later goes on the
ignore it and he will then find himself in some serious trouble down the line, due to these flaws
that he possess as a warrior. Although Beowulf was a successful warrior, he diminished his
legacy as a king and should have truly listened to the advice that was given to him by Hrothgar
to help ensure his success and legacy as a future king. Hrothgar states to Beowulf [c]hoose, dear
Beowulf, the better part, eternal rewards. Do not give way to pride. For a brief while your
strength is in bloom but it fades quickly; and soon there will follow illness or the sword you lay
low... (Beowulf, 1759 1768). This quotes demonstrates the tone that the king decided to use

Doublespeak In T. Lutz s The World Of Double Speak
Orwell believes that question begging is a pervasive poison in political language. This can be
seen in many politicians arguing for a point, in which they assume that their point is true and
attempt to use their assumptions as proof that their assumption is true. It is a backwards type of
circular thinking that values blind acceptance over truth. Political language especially suffers
from these bad habits, because it is the type of language that deals most with the sending of
important messages to entire societies. People in politics rely so heavily on these bad habits
because they know it is falsely reassuring to the public, comfortable, and easy to fall back on. They
rarely construct a message that is honest, because they are afraid of the... Show more content on

If there was another form of the English language that worked as effectively and as easily as
doublespeak, then maybe the official language of public discourse would change. Until then,
however, doublespeak is here to stay, in all of its meticulous, manipulative glory. I would
propose that doublespeak is even more prevalent today than it was in 1990. With the widespread
popularity of the internet comes even more ways for people to communicate, and more
communication just increases the likelihood of doublespeak. Nowadays, corporations are
expected to be present on the web, and this puts pressure on them to respond to issues that go
viral. It s at that point when the company s PR person will make a doublespeak statement
regarding the issue, trying to put out as many fires as possible by avoiding responsibility and
manipulating the negatives into positives. If a response is not satisfactory, the people of the
internet can respond negatively, and a cyber group of angry people on the internet can do a lot
more damage to a company s reputation than a physical group of angry people protesting in the
90s. This sounds like it would decrease the use of doublespeak, but I personally think that it would
just make the companies craft their doublespeak more cautiously, finding a happy medium between
angry customer, and obliviously loyal

play. Do these two people do the right thing by Romeo and Juliet? The nurse and Friar are
sophisticated characters that act as parental figures within the prolix and truculent play. The
timeless classic Romeo and Juliet (RJ) by William Shakespeare revolves around the notion of
determinism, death, love and deception. Despite Romeo and Juliet having warring parents who
pay little regard to them, the Nurse and Friar act as parental figures towards them who guide
through vexed situations in their best interest, however, this only prolongs their declivity, with the
Friar acting as a motif of death and the Nurse acting as a beacon of hope. By... Show more content

The Nurse concedes this proposal because of her motherly affection towards Juliet, as it is in her
best interest and desires to witness Juliet wed with a genuine love rather than an arranged
agreement. Although this can be seen as an congenial gesture, it completely rescinds the social
discourses of the time, consequently justifying that the Nurse is not a great advisor unlike the Friar.
The first exposure to the Friar shows his careful, wise manner and his obvious care for Romeo s
best interests rather than his own satisfactions. This characterization of Friar Laurence is greatly
flawed due to his impetuous thinking when put under the pressure of having two teens approach
him with the intention of killing themselves, as he attempts to guide Romeo and Juliet during their
struggles. Shakespeare laminates the Friar with fault as he is arguably the incentive, along with the
nurse for Romeo and Juliet s cessation, hence becoming the rationale of their declivity. Shakespeare
adopts symbolism upon the Friar and the Nurse. The contrasting of darkness and light is seen all
throughout the play, usually in reference to Juliet as light, although regarding the thesis, the Nurse
and Friar are metaphorical concepts of fate and the

The Artistic And Architectural Evidence For The Nubian...
Sam Morton
ART 2813
March 6, 2017
Describe the artistic and architectural evidence for the Nubian assimilation of Egyptian forms and
ideas.
Nubians art and architecture is traced back hundreds of years. They urbanized one of the oldest and
utmost civilizations in their region until they lost their last empire years ago. Nubia was a land of
expected wealth and prosperity and Sudan had remained the main home of Nubians through their
long history, but many live in Egypt today. Nubian art impacted Egyptian Art through their past art
and architecture, one can see how glorious and influential these group of people were to the world.

These forms were perhaps used to satisfy the desire to fill the void with selected or mixed elements
that may have resulted in a kind of chaos or art. It can be distinguishing by the manner in which the
artist regulates the elements of his composition by reflecting all the elements of the design which
are used for functional and aesthetic purposes.
The Nubians were also remarkable in their architecture. Ancient constructions that appeared to be
palaces at their time are discovered throughout Northern Sudan. Archeologists excavated the
land and identified few dwellings that date back to the pre Kerma period. Remarkably large huts
reaching seven meters in diameter have been found and interpreted by some as residence of
wealthy individuals. The architectural materials, structures, and the presence of staircases in
most of the palaces suggest that they were mostly built of more than one floor. The majority of
the palaces had a rectangular or square plans with long corridors and narrow rectangular rooms.
The temples of the Kushite Kingdom were built of durable materials, such as red fired bricks and
stories that helped them to endure the ravages of time and nature. Temple columns were worked
with extensive designs curved to shape lotus flowers and the heads of gods Bes and Hathor. One
known Egyptian temple is The temple of Ramses II, and the temple of Nefertiti dedicated to
Hathor, they stood for a very long time, until they had a

Summary Of This Is Water By David Foster Wallace
There have two pieces of the article I recently read about, which is This is water by David Foster
Wallace, and Letter to a young poet by Rainer Maria Rilke. I will be discussing the contrast
between this two article and tell the audience what they were precisely thinking about life. For
Wallace, he passed commencement speech to share the advice to people who hear at a college
graduation. In his speech, he delivered the reality of how a typical adult life goes. His statement
also talked about decision making, and how all choices will impact our future growth. On the
other hand, Rilke conveys his ideas by wrote the letter to one military student who called
Kappus. In Rilke s letters, I mostly focus on letter eight, because he pays attention to solitude
and how it is essential to be a real artist. There is only through solitude that he will learn personal
truths and he told Kappus to need to trust own feelings and to face what is difficult. Ralike
talked about solitude in letter eight. As I grow older, I gradually understand that everything is
not going smoothly, it is hard. There have many things you cannot be avoided, such as solitude.
Nowadays, solitude already become a regular phenomenon in our daily life, for example, when I
walk on the street, I always saw a person walk alone, eats alone, go shopping alone, or even goes
to concerts alone. As Rilke said, Solitude it always becomes clearer that this is at the bottom, not
something that one can take or

Pacific Ocean Paradise Analysis
The Pacific Ocean Paradise documentary shows how human impact can cause the ocean to
become in danger by reducing or killing the life in the ocean. The Tahiti reefs shows a great
example how human impact has had a destructive toll on the corals becoming smaller and most
of them dead. But not only are the corals affected but also the sharks became smaller in size and
fewer in number. Today one of the healthiest ecosystem is Millennium Atoll a unique under water
landscape undamaged by the human footprint. Where the corals look like they use to look

Essay On Federal Government In Education
Federal Government in Education The State and local government is primarily responsible for
funding education and determining educational policy. The federal government contributes about
eight percent of the funding for education ( Federal Role in Education US Department of
Education , 2016). The federal government s funding typically goes towards programs for children
with disabilities or schools that made adequate yearly progress (AYP). The federal government
needs to be more involved in educationbecause the United Statesis not number one, when it comes
to education. According to the U.S. News article, the United States is ranked fourth (McPhillips,
2016). In order to improve our education ranking worldwide, the federal government should be

All districts should have the funding to provide a pre school program. Now that students are
expected to know more coming into Kindergarten, a pre school program should be offered to

districts should have a functional education program to prepare students for their everyday lives.
For example, a community based program, where students have funding to go out into the

Sport and Manliness in Antebellum America
I do not accept the thesis that American men living in cities before the Civil War engaged in sport
primarily to define themselves, publicly, as manly. I would accept this thesis if it had stated that
men living in cities before the Civil War engaged in sports to define themselves, publicly, and
manly. The word that made me disagree with the original thesis is the word primarily . I am not
stating that men did not engage in sportto define themselves, publicly, as manly, but I do not
think that it is the primary reason. I would have also accepted this thesis if it had stated that men
living in cities before the Civil War engaged in prize fighting primarily to define themselves,
publicly, as manly. Prizefighting is a sport but it does not provide the standard for all sports. I
will use excerpts from the various sources we have read in class in order to defend my position.
What is the purpose of sport? The answer to this question has many different answers for the
many different types of people. For some people sport is a source means of entertainment, for
others it is source of exercise and recreation. It can be another opportunity for someone to gamble
or it can be a way to make new friends and enjoy other peoples company. In some sports, like prize
fighting and wrestling, men can exhibit their manliness or superiority through competition but there
were and still are many more sports than simply prize fighting and wrestling. Since the beginning of

The Shia had an entirely different view on Abu Bakr, and on whom the next successor should be.
The Shia s emerged as a political division over who should lead the community. They believed
that Ali, the Prophet s son in law and cousin, should be the First Caliph. The word Shia quite
literally means party of Ali. They wanted to keep the succession well in the family line, and had a

back into correct order. The concept of Jihad has greatly evolved over time, with present day
scholars and apologists furiously trying to explain that the term does not mean what many think it

On technique that he utilizes amazingly gave the audience the feel of being with the character.
This technique is called a tracking shot. Tracking shots, according to Hayward (2013), are
cameras that follow a person or an object by physically moving with the subject. There is one
scene is the movie where he uses this technique, and the audience feels that they are in the scene
with the characters. It is when David Huxley is meeting with Mr. Alexander Peabody to talk
about the opportunity of having one million dollars donated to his museum, The Stuyvesant
Museum of Natural History, where he is working on completing a skeletal reproduction of a
brontosaurus. In this scene, he utilizes the long shot of the four men after they have stopped
walking, combined it with the tracking shot itself, and comprises the master shot, which is also
mandated by the classical style (Bordwell, Staiger, Thompson, 1985). Since the tracking of the
camera did indeed continue on for a few feet after the men had stopped, Hawks helps to establish
a better use of space within the frame. By lengthening the shot from a long shot to a longer shot,
the audiences not only gets to see the men and the golf course, the audience can now get a better
sense of where they are situated on the course itself as well. Hawks use a tracking shot to develop a

Analysis Of In Praise Of Fast Food
All aspects of fast food have been criticized significantly, especially since the health food trend
craze came around. An argument by culinary Luddites that is often thrown around is that our
ancestors never had the access to these options and lived a much happier natural lifestyle. Rachel
Laudan brought these points to the forefront to be critiqued in her writing In Praise of Fast Food.
Rachel Laudan brings the argument that individuals have always participated in the consumption
of convenience based foods, the goal in growing and producing food has always been to alter
produce to make it more convenient as well as better tasting. Fast food is not as new of an
invention as many believe it to be. Modern mainstream media outlets have pushed the belief that
processing food has been the worst thing for the well being of the human body. Rachel Laudan
makes some very solid points in the fast food debate that should be noted.
It is commonly believed that fresh and natural is the correct dietary plan above all else. To start
out, Rachel Laudan brings up the concept that going back to the way of our ancestors may not
be what individuals need in the modern world. Rachel Laudan questions the idea that the people
of the past lived a much healthier lifestyle than the current population finds acceptable by giving
the reader mental imagery about how the people of the past truly were living and how
undesirable that life was. Consequently, Rachel Laudan backs up her beliefs by arguing about
the benefits of the healthy natural eating of the people of the past Natural was unreliable. Fresh
milk soured; eggs went rotten. Everywhere seasons of plenty were followed by seasons of
hunger. Natural was also usually indigestible. Grains, which supplied 50 to 90 percent of calories
in most societies, have to be threshed ground, and cooked to make them edible (Faigley 271).
Rachel Laudan seems to be arguing that life for the people of the past was not something to create
a lifestyle around. In conclusion, the lifestyle of the past was a difficult one based on uncertainty
due to the dependency of the crops to thrive.
Next, Rachel Laudan argues the point that the processing of food is not a product of recent
invention, every society

Symbolism In Avatar
In James Cameron s film, Avatar, the plot begins by introducing the protagonist Jake Sully. Jake, a
paraplegic marine, is sought out to join the Avatar Program, a scientific journey through space to
discover an unknown world and its people. Because its atmosphere is poisonous to humans, the
scientists who are a part of the project have created genetically engineered human Na vi bodies,
called Avatars, that they use to explore the planet of Pandora. Jake Sully and his team end up
overstepping the bounds and using the information gained from the Na vi against them in an
attempt to destroy their home and take the precious materials that lay beneath the surface (IMDB).
Avatarby James Cameronsymbolizes European s exploitation of Native American lands by
portraying the aggressive exploration of a new world. Cameron emphasizes the symbolism by
comparing the new planet of Pandora to the new world of North America and by depicting a native
culture extremely similar to Native American Indians. He even goes as far as creating a modern
day Pocahontas inspired plot to further suggest a connection to European s conquest.
Cameron s film shows humans leaving earth to inhabit the newly discovered moon, Pandora. The
newcomers quickly grow meaningful connections to the alien natives of Pandora, the Na vi, while
they covertly plot for an aggressive exploitation of the moon s resources. This situation is
thoroughly representative of early European s encounters with Native Americans. The

Organizational Culture Of Home Depot

The company s structure was said to be an inverted pyramid : the customers and store managers on

were aligned towards customer satisfaction and extreme personal involvement with the customers

The extra ordinary autonomy given to the store manager was one of the main reasons why

major aversion to any kind of beauracracy and hierarchy. It was a usual practice at the stores to

The Quebec Separatist Movement Of Canada
At some point, countries will fight for freedom at their breaking point. For example, during the mid
1900s, Canada did their own movement called the Quebec Separatist Movement. The movement
was about Quebec s independence from government. The movement involved the citizens of
Quebec and a group called Front de Liberation du Quebec(FLQ). The Front de Liberation du
Quebec had kidnapped people in Canada. The Quebec Separatist Movement began due to Quebec s
citizens ambition to become independent and was finally resolved by making a new constitution.

Creative Deed Reflection Paper: Method and Response Initially, I was apprehensive about

However, once I came up with a more structured plan about approaching this project, things

They are trying to blame the fast food industry for their obesity claiming that fast food is a major
contributor to the problem. Tying obesity directly to fast food is a much harder task than tobacco to

or that it is addictive. Obesity is thought to be the number one killer in America (Parks), but there
are many factors that contribute to the epidemic such as genetics, exercise routine, environment,

Obesity leads to a number of diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure,

Argumentative Essay On The Super Bowl
Sports are integrated into people s lives. They have a great influence on human society, not only
for people s health but also for cultural development. Different countries like and are good at
different sports. For example, when people hear about China, people will think of ping pong.
When people hear about Brazil, people will think of soccer. Currently, the United States is the most
powerful country in the world. What type of sports are the Americans good at or like? It must be
the American football. In the United States, what professional American football event is the

Anger Disruption By Avoidance And Removal
Coping strategies Anger Disruption by Avoidance and Removal These techniques lead to
interruption of anger by removing you, mentally or physically, from the situation. For example, it
might be wise to simply get up and leave a situation when anger develops. This might even be
negotiated with a spouse, friend, or business associate in advance. It might be wise to delay
responding by asking for time to think about angering issues or to gather additional information
before responding. It might be wise to seek an alternative mode of response, such as a written or

Relaxation skills include slow deep breathing, slowly repeating a calming word or phrase,

Non Traditional Families
In the united states, more than 4 to 5 in 10 marriages end in a divorce, and approximately half of
American children are affected by this change in family relationships ( McDevitt Ormrod, 2015,
p.73). The divorce rate is continuously skyrocketing, and more children are having to learn how to
deal with this occurrence. In addition to divorce, there are also many different types of family
situations, that are not considered traditional, and these also cause children to go through hardships.
For the most part, children who grow up in traditional working households have tended to do better
in school and grow developmentally stronger than children in non traditional household settings due
to the hardships and the changes these children are going through.
A single parent is one who brings up a child or children without a partner. This can include, a
single mother and or father, a widow or widower, or a divorced mother or father who does not
have the other parent in their lives. Only having one parent can cause a lot of changes to happen in
the house if the parent is recently a single parent. The family could lose income and support from
the previous spouse. Children who grow up within a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, mothers are more likely to have to move with their children to a new residence. Thus, we
must conclude from these and other data (e.g., Spanier Casto, 1979) that mothers are required to
make two very substantial adjustments. First, they must adjust (as the father must) to the
dissolution of the marriage with all of its legal, financial, custodial, and social network implications.
Second, there is a major adjustment to a new life style, a new residency, new childrearing demands,

DNS:
DNS is a protocol with some protocols for computers in exchanging data over the Internet. Its
basic job is to turn a user friendly domain name like google.com into an Internet Protocol (IP)
address like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use to identify each other on the
network.Infact Google Public DNS is largest DNS service in the world which handles more than
400 billion requests a day. All the host devices on the internetuse an identity which is called an IP
Address to establish a connection with site they are need. With the DNS service, we don t need to
remember the whole bunch of numbers stacked at each decimal point. We just use a DNS server
or name server and access the sites with specific names. And this DNS server ... Show more content

STEP 2 :
REQUEST THE DNS SERVERS:
Lets consider the latter case in Step 1, if the information is not stored in local devices, the
computer contacts the Internet Service Providers DNS Servers (in recent times, Recursive DNS
Servers). These computers perform the query on behalf of the user. All the DNS servers have their
own caches, so the query ends when the information is delivered to the user.
STEP 3:
ASK THE ROOT NAME SERVERS:
If the Recursive DNS servers are not able to send the response or they don t have the enough
information for the query, then the Root name servers come into the picture. A name server is a
computer that responds to queries about the Domain names. There are 13 Root Name servers .
These servers act as a bridge in directing the query to answerable resources if it doesn t have
enough information.
STEP 4:
TOP LEVEL DOMAIN:
The Root Name servers will direct the query to the Top Level Domain for the .com which have
their own nameserver set which makes a distinction for TLD. Same as the Root Name servers, they
direct to their servers which have the information.
STEP 5 :
The Top Level domain name servers direct the query specific namerservers. There are Authoritative
servers have the information in DNS records.

Chandler s Model of Large-Scale, Integrated Managerial...
To what extent can Chandler s model of large scale, integrated managerial enterprise explain the
long term competitiveness of leading economies?
Chandler`s model of large scale enterprises is a way from and shift away from the invisible hand
model given by Adam Smith. Chandler`s model is an attempt to explain the developments in the
second phase of industrial revolution where he tends to reason behind the enhancement of capital. In
this context, he gave the concept of modern industrial enterprise, which according to him grew in
three phases. That is, there were investments in the production facilities, mostly the ones with
technological potential to produce economies of scale and the economies of scope, ... Show more

Various heads of these departments alongside a board and an assigned president then made
decisions for the organization thereby adding a visible hand to the affairs of the organization
leading the enterprise in a set direction. Another point to be taken under consideration here is that
an industrial enterprise, in addition to the functional units, also expanded in other ways. There were
defensive expansion trends i.e. horizontal or vertical expansion, and the offensive ones, i.e.
geographical and product diversification. Further evolution in the industrial enterprise led to
performance monitoring measures i.e. inclusion of a long term and innovative corporate strategy
with middle and the top management being the sole decision makers. However, with labor intensive
industries i.e. printing or textiles, they don`t offer a competitive advantage for the integrated
enterprises (Chandler Montgomery 1979: 71). Therefore, in these cases, mass retailers tend to
dominate with large purchasing units while eliminating other intermediaries.
In order to further explain the argument, the case of United States as stipulated via theoretical
paradigms given by Chandler can be discussed. According to the theory, USA precludes to
competitive managerial capitalism which implies that there is an oligopolistic competition

The Plymouth Family Ice-Personal Narrative

Birth Control Is A Powerful Tool
Birth control is a powerful tool. It gives women the power to choose when they are ready to have
a baby, with whom they wish to have it with, and how many children to limit the family to. In the
past, women had no control over childbearing due to many restrictions. With Margaret Sanger s
efforts, birth control awareness became accepted by the people and the legal system, changing the
lives of countless women in their fight towards equal opportunity. She changed the way that
childbearing was viewed in America and paved a road that led to gender equality.

Margaret Sanger developed an interest in birth control advocacy through her involvement in the

early 1900s, women began advocating for greater access to contraception and birth control
information, both to increase women s independence and to decrease unwanted pregnancies and
illegal abortions ( State Abortion Laws ). Sanger joined the movement, becoming a member of
many female rights organizations. As a member of the Socialist Party and a woman s labor
organizer, Sanger met [influential] leader such as Eugene V. Debs, Emma Goldman, and Bill
Haywood of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) . As a result of influence from Goldman
and other radical women, Sanger became convinced that married women could never become equal
without being able to control childbearing (McPherson and Gertle).
The popular women s rights movement of the 1960s and 1970s emphasized reproductive rights as
an essential component of women s liberation that would lead to gender equality. Feminists argued
that only once a woman can control her reproductive lives can she fully participate in society as

Large corporations such as Apple or Microsoft continue to outsource more of their production overseas to subcontractors in China. There have been various stories and rumors of Chinese workers being exploited by their wealthy factoryowners and supervisors. Working conditions may appear to be improving in China, but most people are not able to view what is happening overseas. These conditions provide some power and control for these multinational corporations over their workers. The Chinese workers are powerless against the influence of the corporate executives. They are able to ultimately set the pace of production as well as the wages of the workers ( Working Conditions ). Sine corporations may deny any connection to these labor abuses in China. However, with these powers, these corporations cannot shy away from the fact that they did have some degree of responsibility for the conditions of Chinese workers. Microsoft, HP, Dell, and IBM are large corporations that produce various computer electronics and accessories such as desktop computers, laptops, and keyboards. A factory in China s Dongguan City, Guangdong province helps to produce computer accessories such as keyboards and printer cases for these corporations (Kernaghan). Workers at the Guangdong factory work much more extensive hours than do Americans. They work twelve hours a day for seven days a week to make five hundred keyboards an hour at a $0.76 hourly wage (Kernaghan). Unlike other prosperous nations, these Chinese workers are not able to enjoy many days off or vacations. Instead, these workers only get two days off a month and if a worker took a Sunday off, he would have his pay docked by two and a half days worth of wages (Kernaghan). • 3. The Impact Of Western Imperialism In East Asia Jun Woo Kang Mr. Tirkey IB MYP World History April 29th, 2016 The western imperialism in East Asia begins with European interactions into what was at the moment called East Indies. This began during the 15th century in search of trade routes leading to the Age of Exploration of the European empires which were in the flourishing cultural and intellectual developments with Renaissance. By the early 16th century, European merchants greatly expanded Western European influence and established numerous trade posts with the countries in Asia, benefiting the European countries economically. This trend originated from the Portuguese breaking the monopoly of the Arabs and Italians of trade between Asia and Europeby the discovery of sea route between the two continents. As a direct result, Western empires introduced their different ideologies to the East such as their Christian beliefs, and their new weaponries. Before the Industrial Revolution in the end of 19th century, demand for oriental goods such as spices, silk and tea remained the driving force behind European imperialism, and the European dominance in East Asia endured with already established trading posts between the two continents. However, industrialization dramatically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike what most people think pineapples are not the most prevalent food in Hawaii (unless you go to the tourist places then it will be the most abundant thing that you will find). This is a result of the unique limitations that are present in Hawaii, that are not seen in most of the world. Since Hawaii has a lot of antithetical cultures that affects their fooddramatically, you can see this in the traditional food, and the roles that the people paid in society. Taro, as stated by Andwhae Grows in patches with cool running water , taro is one of the most common edible plant s on the Hawaiian islands. It was also very easy to harvest since it was located on the ground and you only had to forage for it. The most plentiful source of meat that Hawaiians have is fish, the second being the local wild hogs that inhabited most of the islands. Fishing was a big part of Hawaiian culture and played a great role in their religion as well. The people who fished (which were men) were one of the highest roles in society only below the chieftain and holy comunicarii. • 6. Advantages Of Homeschooling Every year, there is a gradual intake of debates on whether homeschooling is more effective than public schooling. Since 2003, there has been a steady increase of 36% of students being homeschooled in the United States, and a statistic of 1.5 million students being homeschooled in 2007 (Bergstrom 5). As more and more students are being homeschooled, it is beginning to become a more effective way of learning and lifestyle than going to public school. Despite the disadvantages people accuse about homeschooling, it can actually improve the life of students by giving them a better advantage to a social life, reducing the risk of being involved in alcohol or drug use, developing a higher standard of maturity and morals that students of public schooling do not have, and having more success in schoolwork and learning. Throughout a child s life of public schooling, they have a vast variety of social interactions with other students and their teachers, but despite what many peers believe about the interactions in homeschooling, they too have the same and even more as those in public schooling. According to Koehler, studies have shown that the, homeschooled population demonstrated above average of overall social skills, (Koehler 4). Because homeschoolers do not get the same advantages as public schooling, they gain a wide variety of socialization throughout experiences offered at church groups, playing at parks, joining outside clubs or organizations, and tutoring groups. • 8. Generational Themes In Hamlet Hamlet is a play that despite age, can deliver themes that consistently transcend generational differences, even when those differences span hundreds of years. It is the strength of these themes in Hamlet that has given the play such overwhelming cultural gravitas that allows it to remain relevant to this day. As such, it is a highly appropriate play for high schoolstudents to study. The core messages of generational conflict, unfolding to one s true self, and morality are struggles faced by both Hamlet, and high school students. Consequently, this can motivate students in their studies when they discover a character, that despite the difference in time, is so easily relatable. When students recognize similarities between Hamlet and themselves, such as a distaste for the tedious old fools (2.2.219) with their plentiful lack of wit (2.2.199), it creates a connection between the students and this seemingly ancient piece of literature. A connection, that hopefully after the high school level, can be nurtured into a passion for literature. A connection that allows for greater insight and analysis at this current level. A connection, that if students are discouraged from making now, they are unlikely to make later in their lives, as once they grow older the heyday in the blood is tame. • 11. My Mother Served As Minister Of Music Eleven years ago I walked into a church. From the outside it looked like your ordinary, everyday church, but on the inside...on the inside it felt like coming home. I went from a young girl wounded by the hypocrisy of well meaning church goers, to a woman on fire for God and ready to step out in my Godgiven destiny as a warrior for the Lord. I have been a believer since the age of seven. I can remember the exact feeling as the Holy Spirit filled me with such longing to be a part of the family of God that I could barely sit still until the invitation to come forward was given. But even before that, I had been in church from infancy. My mother served as minister of music for many years, and church functions were as natural to me as breathing. But it does not take much for the tender heart to be wounded by those that no matter how well intentioned think they know better than God, and manage to impose their judgement and harsh words on others. I was too new to my walk, and too stuck at my traditional faith maturity level, to understand I should not confuse the people of God with the heart of God. I stopped going to church, and, often with the exception of times of struggle I did not even pray. I had no idea the relationship I was missing out on because, you see, the church I grew up in knew the Word of God but they failed to share the heart of God. Therefore, I saw the Lord only as my judge and jury, I did not understand the grace, mercy and goodness of God. I couldn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jackie Robinson was a black baseball player who broke the color barrier in the 1950s and burst onto the scene as an All Star and became one of the top players in the league who carried his team to the top. But most people remember him for his resiliency as he faced adversity from white players and executives alike in the league and inspired millions of young kids to one day be like him. Richard can be compared to this as he likewise arose as a French Canadian in a massively English Canadianleague and quickly became one of the top stars and inspiring a generation of young hockey fans to one be like him. Another idea is that delinquency is the same for males and females, but boys are more exposed to to opportunities for delinquency than females. In addition to child gender, the gender of the parent also plays a role. The link between fathers parenting and mothers parenting to a child s delinquency can be different. Because in this class everyone learned that a person can be bicodal and this allows someone to have multiple codes in their lives (Morrison, 2009). Isolating an individual goes against my personal code of ethics because a person s freedom is important to their way of life but as a professional I need to worry about my employees and individuals in my care. Amid all other forms of art, fine art has been associated with post Fordist ideology. Post Fordism is a popular system of economically based on production, consumption and has been in most industrialized countries since the late 20th century. Contemporary art is not an out of this world discipline hidden away in some remote building. In fact, it s the opposite because it positions itself in the thick of things. It can function as a brand name without a brand feeding off the bits and pieces of social and political issues. Presently, contemporary art has grown apart from important hubs, which gives the artist a wider range of production and provides various opportunities for showcasing the work. In contrast, this has not always been the case. Artist in novels about portraitures are depicted as servants due to the flow of cash. Art should be functioning on its own without the need of an institutional backing in order to create separation between the artist and their work as well as what the work can do . Portraits appear as an object already existing in the world and about whose producer and the process of production not much (most often nothing) needs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In general, partition uprooted the whole country and it is described as one of the deadliest experience the natives ever had of leaving their belongings behind and adapting the idea of new land, which was not theirs. The harrowing and spine chilling events of 1947 had shaken the faith of the people in the innate human beings. It had driven them into the state of wonder over what man has made of man. To Khushwant Singh, this was a period of great disillusionment and crisis of values, a distressing and disintegrating period of his life. The belief he had cherished all his life was shattered. King Wuulf s Influence Of The Hero Of Beowulf In the beginning of the poem Beowulf , one can recognize the excitement that the king expresses when Beowulf arrives to help defend the land of the Danes. The king of land, Hrothgar is grateful when Beowulf states that he is going to fight off Grendel, but the king warns Beowulf and urges him to not become a warrior and ruler that expresses too much pride in himself. Hrothgar continues on and insists that Beowulfremains peaceful, yet ready to battle, but not to become to driven by violence and too war minded. Although at the time Beowulf expressed interest and seemed to agree with the advice that was being handed to him by King Hrothgar, he later goes on the ignore it and he will then find himself in some serious trouble down the line, due to these flaws that he possess as a warrior. Although Beowulf was a successful warrior, he diminished his legacy as a king and should have truly listened to the advice that was given to him by Hrothgar to help ensure his success and legacy as a future king. Hrothgar states to Beowulf [c]hoose, dear Beowulf, the better part, eternal rewards. Do not give way to pride. For a brief while your strength is in bloom but it fades quickly; and soon there will follow illness or the sword you lay low... (Beowulf, 1759 1768). • 21. Doublespeak In T. Lutz s The World Of Double Speak Orwell believes that question begging is a pervasive poison in political language. This can be seen in many politicians arguing for a point, in which they assume that their point is true and attempt to use their assumptions as proof that their assumption is true. It is a backwards type of circular thinking that values blind acceptance over truth. Political language especially suffers from these bad habits, because it is the type of language that deals most with the sending of important messages to entire societies. People in politics rely so heavily on these bad habits because they know it is falsely reassuring to the public, comfortable, and easy to fall back on. If there was another form of the English language that worked as effectively and as easily as doublespeak, then maybe the official language of public discourse would change. Until then, however, doublespeak is here to stay, in all of its meticulous, manipulative glory. I would propose that doublespeak is even more prevalent today than it was in 1990. With the widespread popularity of the internet comes even more ways for people to communicate, and more communication just increases the likelihood of doublespeak. Nowadays, corporations are expected to be present on the web, and this puts pressure on them to respond to issues that go viral. It s at that point when the company s PR person will make a doublespeak statement regarding the issue, trying to put out as many fires as possible by avoiding responsibility and manipulating the negatives into positives. If a response is not satisfactory, the people of the internet can respond negatively, and a cyber group of angry people on the internet can do a lot more damage to a company s reputation than a physical group of angry people protesting in the 90s. This sounds like it would decrease the use of doublespeak, but I personally think that it would just make the companies craft their doublespeak more cautiously, finding a happy medium between angry customer, and obliviously loyal ... • 22. Analysis of Friar Lawrence and the Nurse Analyze the characters of the Nurse and Friar Laurence as mentors to the young people in the play. Do these two people do the right thing by Romeo and Juliet? The nurse and Friar are sophisticated characters that act as parental figures within the prolix and truculent play. The timeless classic Romeo and Juliet (RJ) by William Shakespeare revolves around the notion of determinism, death, love and deception. Despite Romeo and Juliet having warring parents who pay little regard to them, the Nurse and Friar act as parental figures towards them who guide through vexed situations in their best interest, however, this only prolongs their declivity, with the Friar acting as a motif of death and the Nurse acting as a beacon of hope. By... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Nurse concedes this proposal because of her motherly affection towards Juliet, as it is in her best interest and desires to witness Juliet wed with a genuine love rather than an arranged agreement. Although this can be seen as an congenial gesture, it completely rescinds the social discourses of the time, consequently justifying that the Nurse is not a great advisor unlike the Friar. The first exposure to the Friar shows his careful, wise manner and his obvious care for Romeo s best interests rather than his own satisfactions. This characterization of Friar Laurence is greatly flawed due to his impetuous thinking when put under the pressure of having two teens approach him with the intention of killing themselves, as he attempts to guide Romeo and Juliet during their struggles. Shakespeare laminates the Friar with fault as he is arguably the incentive, along with the nurse for Romeo and Juliet s cessation, hence becoming the rationale of their declivity. Shakespeare adopts symbolism upon the Friar and the Nurse. The contrasting of darkness and light is seen all throughout the play, usually in reference to Juliet as light, although regarding the thesis, the Nurse and Friar are metaphorical concepts of fate and the ... It can be distinguishing by the manner in which the artist regulates the elements of his composition by reflecting all the elements of the design which are used for functional and aesthetic purposes. The Nubians were also remarkable in their architecture. Ancient constructions that appeared to be palaces at their time are discovered throughout Northern Sudan. Archeologists excavated the land and identified few dwellings that date back to the pre Kerma period. Remarkably large huts reaching seven meters in diameter have been found and interpreted by some as residence of wealthy individuals. The architectural materials, structures, and the presence of staircases in most of the palaces suggest that they were mostly built of more than one floor. The majority of the palaces had a rectangular or square plans with long corridors and narrow rectangular rooms. The temples of the Kushite Kingdom were built of durable materials, such as red fired bricks and stories that helped them to endure the ravages of time and nature. For Wallace, he passed commencement speech to share the advice to people who hear at a college graduation. In his speech, he delivered the reality of how a typical adult life goes. His statement also talked about decision making, and how all choices will impact our future growth. On the other hand, Rilke conveys his ideas by wrote the letter to one military student who called Kappus. In Rilke s letters, I mostly focus on letter eight, because he pays attention to solitude and how it is essential to be a real artist. There is only through solitude that he will learn personal truths and he told Kappus to need to trust own feelings and to face what is difficult. Ralike talked about solitude in letter eight. As I grow older, I gradually understand that everything is not going smoothly, it is hard. There have many things you cannot be avoided, such as solitude. Nowadays, solitude already become a regular phenomenon in our daily life, for example, when I walk on the street, I always saw a person walk alone, eats alone, go shopping alone, or even goes to concerts alone. An argument by culinary Luddites that is often thrown around is that our ancestors never had the access to these options and lived a much happier natural lifestyle. Rachel Laudan brought these points to the forefront to be critiqued in her writing In Praise of Fast Food. Rachel Laudan brings the argument that individuals have always participated in the consumption of convenience based foods, the goal in growing and producing food has always been to alter produce to make it more convenient as well as better tasting. Fast food is not as new of an invention as many believe it to be. Modern mainstream media outlets have pushed the belief that processing food has been the worst thing for the well being of the human body. Rachel Laudan makes some very solid points in the fast food debate that should be noted. It is commonly believed that fresh and natural is the correct dietary plan above all else. To start out, Rachel Laudan brings up the concept that going back to the way of our ancestors may not be what individuals need in the modern world. Rachel Laudan questions the idea that the people of the past lived a much healthier lifestyle than the current population finds acceptable by giving the reader mental imagery about how the people of the past truly were living and how undesirable that life was. Consequently, Rachel Laudan backs up her beliefs by arguing about the benefits of the healthy natural eating of the people of the past Natural was unreliable. Fresh milk soured; eggs went rotten. Everywhere seasons of plenty were followed by seasons of hunger. Natural was also usually indigestible. Grains, which supplied 50 to 90 percent of calories in most societies, have to be threshed ground, and cooked to make them edible (Faigley 271). Rachel Laudan seems to be arguing that life for the people of the past was not something to create a lifestyle around. In conclusion, the lifestyle of the past was a difficult one based on uncertainty due to the dependency of the crops to thrive.
