Comparing Grimm’s Fairytale Snow White to Snow White, by...
As a child, I was told fairytales such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs every night before I went
to sleep. Fairytales are an adventurous way to expand a child s imagination and open their eyes to
experience a new perspective. Modernizations of fairytales typically relate to a specific audience, such
as adolescence, and put a contemporary spin on the old aged tale. Instead of using whimsical themes
heavily centered in nature, the contemporary poems connect with the reader in a more realistic
everyday scenario. Also, many modernizations are written in poetic form to help reconstruct a flow in
the piece and to develop or sometimes completely change the meaning from that of the original
fairytale. Comparing Grimm s Fairytale Snow White ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dwarves are amazed by the girl s beauty and allow her to stay with them forever as long as she
handles all the household chores. Snow White happily obliges and begins to take care of the dwarves.
Unfortunately, the evil step mother gets word of Snow White s death being a fraud and makes three
attempts to trick and fool the princess. On the third attempt, the old hag is successful and upon biting
in to a deliciously plump red apple sends Snow White tumbling to the ground. The seven dwarves
decide Snow White is to captivating to be buried underground so they decided to encase her in glass
and take turns guarding her remains. One day a handsome prince happens to come across the beautiful
dead princess and begs the dwarves to let him purchase her. Reluctantly, the dwarves give the prince
Snow White and a bump on the transport home causes the poisonous apple to fall out of her mouth
and the princess magically comes back to life. The prince marries Snow White, and the evil step
mother is forced to dance in hot iron boots until she dies.
As happy as this stories summary seems, it is clearly not even remotely realistic in our society.
Entering adolescence teens are less concerned with imaginary stories and more worried about meeting
social and family expectations while trying to shift through an awkward phase and find their own
identity. Duhamel refers to the original version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

Self-Medication In Wild Animals
Research indicates that wild animals utilise aspects of their natural environment to self medicate in at
least three ways. The use of rough plants as a type of intestinal scour is a prevalent technique for the
removal of internal parasites. Some animals also poison their internal parasites by ingesting toxic
plants found in their natural habitat. In addition, in order to neutralise toxins in the plants they eat,
some wild animals engage in geophageous behaviour.
A widespread method of self medication in wild animals is the use of abrasive plants to purge the
digestive system. Research conducted on two continents shows that some wild animals deliberately
consume plants whose leaves are covered with microscopic hooks which scour the intestines. ... Show

Geophagy is the consumption of soil, and in wild animals this practice has the effect of neutralising
the defensive poisons produced by plants. For instance, researchers discovered that some tropical birds
practise geophagy when they consume seeds that contain alkaloids, which are toxic. In an experiment
with seed eating macaws scientists discovered a direct link between the consumption of clay and the
reduction of alkaloids in the birds bloodstreams. Furthermore, the leaves of many tropical plants
contain high levels of toxins, and scientists have observed that herbivores in tropical regions regularly
consume clay. Elephants, for example, only cease consumption of clay during specific times of the
year when their diet changes from leaves to fruit. As a result, researchers have concluded that these
wild animals ingest clay in order to neutralise the poisons contained in the plants they

Principles of Marketing Report on the UK marketing environment for the iPhone
Executive Summary
This report will analyze and discuss the most important elements of the marketing environment for the
launch of the iPhone, that is to say the main three levels of the marketing environment: the micro
environment through the customers, competitors and distributors, the macro environment through
technological, economical, social, political and environmental forces and finally the internal
environment through the relation of Apple with its employees and its marketing philosophy. The
analysis for the micro environment is based on Porter s 5 forces model and the one on the macro
environment is based on PEST analysis. The report ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apple has already sold more than 39 million iPods in 2006, thus the company can count on its existing
customers for the iPhone. The other potential customers for this product can also be: the people
interested by technology or technophobes, middle and high class segments who are willing to pay
more for a better user experience, professionals in media and design and finally young people who are
interested by the image reflected by the product.
Competitors
With the iPhone, unlike the iPod, Apple is not creating a new market it is muscling the mobile market
(BBC). In fact in the UK, more than 80% of the households have already a mobile phone; however the
mobile market is changing so the customers are not only buying a mobile phone for its functionality
but also for the other features that it can provide such as the design for example. Since, there is an
established market; there will be two main types of competition: one against the distributor and
another one against the product.
The competition against the distributor is particularly important in this case as there is only one
company distributing it in the UK: O2. One of the rapid reactions to the launch of the iPhone; is by
Vodafone who has created a service called Music Station to be launched for Christmas and which will
give unlimited access to its customers to more than 1 million music tracks.
Concerning the competition against the iPhone itself, there are already mobile phones in the market
that provide

Chlamydia Trachomatis Research Paper
Chlamydia trachomatis is an obligate intracellular bacterium and the causative agent of sexually
transmitted disease in humans and is a widespread public health concern because of their high
prevalence. Worldwide, an estimated 90 million sexually transmitted C. trachomatis infections occur
each year ( Global Prevalence and Incidence of Selected Curable Sexually Transmitted Infections:
Overview and Estimates; World Health Organization, Geneva, 2001). Among Chlamydia infected
women rates of 60 70% of the patients are not aware of their infection as in most cases infection
remains asymptomatic [2,3], highlighting the public health impact of this disease. Thus, detection of
infected patients relies mostly on screening. However, despite the major ... Show more content on

trachomatis is classified into two biovars: the trachoma biovar which includes ocular and urogenital
strains (A K) and the LGV biovar (L1 L3) [21]. Trachoma strains are characterized by localized
infection, while serovars A C cause infection of the epithelial surface of the conjunctiva, serovars D K
are responsible for infections in the urogenital tract, especially in the endocervix [22]. Chlamydiae
have a unique biphasic developmental cycle, which alternates between two distinct morphological
forms, the elementary bodies (EB) and the reticulate bodies (RB) (Moulder, 1991). When infection
occurs the EBs, which are metabolically inert, attached to and stimulate uptake by the host cell. Upon
entry, the internalized EBs remain within a membrane bound, host derived parasitophorous vacuole,
termed an inclusion, where they differentiate into larger, reticulate bodies that are non infectious but
metabolically active form, called RBs [24 26]. The RBs undergo proliferation by binary fission and
inclusion growth, and after 8 to 12 rounds of multiplication, the RBs convert back into EBs. At 30 84
hours post infection (PI), depending on the infecting species the infectious EBs progeny are released
from the host cell, which is going through lysis, to attach the neighboring cells and initiate another
cycle. However, under stressful growth conditions caused by immunological response, antibiotic
treatment or nutrients starvation [27 33], the developmental cycle is disturbed and the EBs convert to
enlarged, aberrant, non infectious bodies (AB), until the stress factor is removed [25]. This in vitro
state that was defined by viable but non cultivable Chlamydiae involving morphologically enlarged,
non dividing, aberrant RB which is generally reversible to yield infectious EB is called chlamydial
persistence [26,27]. Although a lot of data exist about chlamydia persistence in vitro and in murine
models, not much is known about persistence in vivo and requires further

The final result when all the dye emerges at the downstream side is shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1 : Traced Flow Lines
4. The flow velocity increases as the flow gets closer to the barrier wall and reduces as it moves away
from the wall. This is because as the flow rate is constant (Conservation of mass) while the area of the
flow cross section decreases when it gets closer to the barrier wall, the flow velocity increases. This is
best understood by referring to the continuity equation,
Alternatively, it can also be explained by referring to the equation , where the k value is constant while
the hydraulic gradient i defined by i = ΔH/L increases because the head difference ΔH is constant
while the flow length L becomes shorter when it gets closer to the barrier wall.
5. The final result when all the dye emerges at the downstream side is shown in Figure 1.

Soccer Research Papers
Soccer which is considered the world s most common played sport. This sport is played between two
teams of 12 people. There are many different positions on the field. These two team s player with a
round ball that may not be touched with the hands or arms during play except by the goalkeepers. The
object of the game is to score goals by kicking or heading the ball into the opponents goal. The most
important position on the soccer field is the defenders. I believe the best defender is Sergio Ramos
who plays for Spain. This position is expected to defend the goal and stop opponents from scoring so
without this position the goalie has no help. Defenders need to be conditioned, aware of their
surroundings, and react fast. Defenders overall role ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall I agree that defenders in sports play the most important role in the game as well as to their
teammates. In general opponents will always score if defenders aren t visual and competitive. What if
we didn t have defenders in sports? I believe if we didn t have defenders in sports there wouldn t be
much of a competition between the two teams and scoring would be a lot easier. Games would also be
boring to watch because of how easy it is to score. Imagining watching a soccer such as Spain in the
FIFA World CUP and they get scored on easily which isn t something that happens frequently because
of their strong defense. Spain has been known for conquering all their opponents for their such
organized and tactical defense. I still believe the best defender is Sergio Ramos because he fits the
requirements of his good pressure, vision, and tackling/ attacking that s expected. He is very
aggressive and he s a skilled tackler, he ll normally avoid fouling in these scenarios and will often win
the ball. Sergio Ramos ranks in the top 1% of all FIFA 15 players. Therefore, the defensive position is
important in soccer and so many other

Palestrina s Role In The Counter-Reformation
Palestrina s role in the Counter Reformation was to write music that could be used in the chapel. On
April 28, 1565 singers of the papal chapel were brought together at the home of Cardinal Vitellozzi to
test to see if words could be understood in the songs. People don t know if Palestrina s Missa Papae
Marcelli was performed there or not. But some suggestions say that it was copied in a choirbook later
on. Palestrina was involved in composing some works for the chapel and evidence increases that some
compositions that he has written and is to write is for use of the chapel. Another role that Palestrina
had in the Counter Reformation was to work on the revisions of the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual
and Antiphoner. Palestrina never completed this project ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The revisions ended up being made by Felice Anerio and Francesco Soriano. The revisions made are
what Palestrina would have. Some of the revisions that he made can be seen in some chants of the
1582 Directorum Chori. The first song, Kyrie, I have actually heard before because one of the choirs
in my high school sang it for one of there songs. The song has a very nice flow to it and seems like a
song that is sung in a church somewhere. I looked up what the word Kyrie means and found from
dictionary.com that it means, Lord, have mercy .(SDFAS) The second song ,Gloria, was also a very
smooth flowing song. With all of the different parts in it, it makes it sound very good. Palestrina did
very well on both of the pieces. Palestrina had a couple of roles in the Counter Reformation. One was
to write music that could be used in the chapel. Another one was he had to work on the revisions of
the plainsongs of the Roman Gradual and Antiphoner. Listening to two of Palestrina s works was very
neat. After hearing Kyrie on here from what i heard from my choir in high school was neat to hear the
differences. Palestrina did very well on both pieces that I listened

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
The dusty woven curtains at the end of the hall flapped halfheartedly in the breeze. The window was
open, letting in any random bug that happened to pass by, since it had no screen. Margery s doing,
probably. She was Queen of the Hot Flashes. Stopping in front of her apartment, I was annoyed to see
ketchup smeared under the brass numeral two.
Margery was such a slob when she d been drinking. She d pick up fast food, but be so bombed that
half the time she couldn t find her mouth. Burger wrappers, nibs of French fries, and oozing
condiment packets littered the floor of her posh Cadillac...probably the floor of her apartment, now,

As I dropped to my knees to check Marjory s pulse, a miasma of stale booze wafted towards me. She
was dead, alright. Dead drunk. I grabbed her by the shoulders, and, with an energy fueled by fury,
shook her until her teeth rattled. All I got for my efforts were a few moans and incoherent mumbles
and a piercing pain in my right hand.
Clambering to my feet, I pulled a bloody sliver from my palm. It left a nasty looking hole ripe for
infection, so I crossed the few short steps to the sink to wash it out. The ubiquitous orange speckled
shag rug did not extend into this area. Instead, the floor was covered in a linoleum of fake bricks, one
of the few improvements that actually pleased my eye. My gaze drifted to the frying pan still smoking
on the stove, and I felt a flash of anger again. Margery could ve burned the place down with her
reckless behavior.
Payback time, I thought, as I turned on the tap and let the cold water sting my wound. I searched the
metal cabinet under the sink with my free hand until I found a dented aluminum saucepan left behind
by a previous tenant. Perfect. Filling it with cold water, I returned to the bar and stood over Margery

Sergeant Cuff In The Hound Of The Baskervilles, And Father...
Throughout the semester, we have read several different detective stories, looking into each detective s
characteristics, as well as the characteristics of supporting characters, examining how detectives are
able to solve the case when nobody else can. Each detective we have read this semester has different
ways to solve a crime, but there are also ways to connect these different detectives. Based on the
examples of Sergeant Cuff in The Moonstone, Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskervilles, and
Father Brown in Father Brown: The Essential Tales, a successful detective must love what they do,
have trust that is hard to earn by others, and they are very detailed in their searches. Without the
combination of these three characteristics, detectives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

life, if we were quick at taking offence, we shouldn t be worth salt to our porridge. It it s any comfort

believing that Miss Rachel could be guilty of taking the moonstone. Cuff understands why Betteredge
is upset and knows not to accuse Rachel of anything without complete evidence. This shows Cuff s
love for being a detective because he is being criticized by Betteredge, accepts what he says, and tells
him that he can come back if need be. He kept the conversation very professional and hopes to come
back in order to solve the case. In The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle, we see
Sherlock who loves being a detective as well. In the beginning of the novel, Dr. James Mortimer
comes to Sherlock and Watson for help, saying that he came to the second highest expert in Europe. In
response, Sherlock says, Indeed, sir! May I inquire who has the honour to be the first? [he asked] with
some asperity (Doyle, 5). Holmes seems very excited to have the opportunity to solve

Definition Essay On Sense Of Humor
Sense of humor is what a person finds funny. Maybe you think a person falling on their face is funny
or videos of talking penguins. But whatever someone finds is up to them. There are many different
types of humor. Generally friends and family have the same sense of humor. Imagine a comedian
standing up on stage; thousands of pairs of eyes stare up at the comedian, ready for him to deliver
funny jokes. All those people came there because they have the same sense of humor. When a joke is
delivered the whole crowd erupts into simultaneous laughter. That joke must have been extremely
funny to get thousands of people to laugh, but every single person in that room shares the same love
for comedy, and agrees with the comedian s sense of humor. But ... Show more content on

everyone else appeared annoyed by the loud laughter, the old woman just sat there silently. After about
thirty minutes of scrolling and laughing out loud, an man behind him tapped him on the shoulder and
asked him if he could please keep it down because it was distracting. The young man sincerely

lady started laughing very loudly. The whole bus turned and looked at her, expecting to see something
funny in the newspaper, but what they saw was the young man s phone in her hands as she scrolled up
and down his timeline. She thought the pictures his friends shared were extremely funny and asked
him if it would be alright to add her as a friend so she could see more funny pictures. She said she had
not laughed that hard in twenty years and the two of them continued to scroll through Facebook all the
way to the old woman s stop, where the young man escorted her to her building before getting back on

Thomas Cleary s The Art Of War
Thomas Cleary translated The Art of War which was originally written by Sun Tzu. A mysterious
philosopher for more than two thousand years ago compiled this book by providing influential
strategy into the world today. Sun Tzu was known as military specialist active during the turbulent late
Chou dynasty and a Taoist philosopher. In this book, it reflects the warfare in China that occurred over
two thousand years ago. His views were as unsettling the enemy psychologically; his goal is to force
the enemy s leadership and society from a condition of harmony. Tzu also takes into consideration the
bankruptcy and social disintegration of the politically weak Chinese states of his time. Throughout this
passage, the reader will be describing the following topics on positional strategy, expansion strategy,
and situation response.
The translator, Thomas Cleary, deliberates three specific issues that Sun Tzu wrote over two thousand
years ago. The first chapters describe the positional strategy which is the methods for mapping the
strengths and weakness of positions. Then the middle sections involve expansion ... Show more

Summary Of The Mikado
Mikado Position Paper The Mikado is a comic operetta, in two acts, composed in 1885. It was first
performed on stage at the Savoy Theatre, in London. It has been said that this operetta consists of
racist comments and stereotyping. After thoroughly researching about The Mikado, I have come to the
conclusion that The Mikado production in Seattle is offensive, due to their choice of portrayal. This
operetta intended to satire the British society, not the Japanese people. In my opinion, the goal of a
satire is not accomplished. The librettist merely jokes about the British politics through the eyes of
Japanese people. This makes it offensive because, at that time, the Japanese were killed and driven out
in the 1800s. What was accepted then does not justify its perpetuation today. People should not be
insensitive to the dangers of stereotyping in public as they can cause damage that a lot of people are
unaware of (Northwestern Asian Weekly, 2014).
To being with, the Seattle production of this operetta hired white actors to play Japanese people. It was
entirely comprised of white actors who are transformed into Japanese characters with the help of
makeup. Where did all the Asian actors go? What made Gilbert want to utilize white actors? The white
actors dressed up to depict Japanese people is unfair because they are portrayed as archaic, and is not
even relevant to this time. Japan was not even part of the British politics at that time, yet Japanese
people are the pawn

Cycle Of Recidivism Essay
A long term study conducted by Bureau of Justice Statistics found that the average five year
recidivism rates of 404,638 prisoners released in 2005 is 76.6% among thirty states in America
(Matthew, Alexia, Howard, 2014, p. 1). In other words, most of the released prisoners did not escape
the cycle of recidivism and were sent back to the prison after time. This indicates that the present
American justice system, which focuses on punishment as Benson (2003) noted, fails to rehabilitate
prisoners efficiently and is far from achieving the goal of reducing crime rates (p. 46). What is more,
the recidivism of prisoners is becoming a great plague of society, because it not only imposes a threat

Although details of Sycamore Tree projects running in different countries, such as length of the
project, are slightly different, they all aim at helping offenders realize the impact of crime and making
them become more responsible (Marshall, 2005, p. 2; Feasey Williams, 2009, p. 3; Bakker, n.d., p. 3).
It is a creative project. In daily life, victims and offenders seldom meet each other after the court.
However, this project provides a platform for victims and offenders to communicate, to find out the
distress others have experienced and to learn how to lead a better life together. Thus, it may be a
promising way to reduce re offending rates.
This project was evaluated to be effective in raising the average level of victim empathy and lowering
the average level of anticipation of re offending. However, it is not working for all offenders, and it
may increase the level of shame, which can lead to re offending. Evaluations of Sycamore Tree
projects running in the United Kingdom and New Zealand revealed that offenders had lower
anticipation of re offending and higher victim awareness after Sycamore Tree projects (Feasey
Williams, 2009, p. 17; Bakker, n.d., pp. 7 8). Although no research has been done to show the direct
impact of Sycamore Tree project on re offending rates, Pithers (1999) found that a high level of victim

Negative Effects Of Fake News
In this technologically advanced society, fake news is being widely spread across social media
platforms. Since the growing popularity in obtaining news online, a large number of the public prefer
to read social media news rather than authentic newspapers. It is apparent that sensational news draws
more attention and interest from the audience. According to A December 2016 survey by the Pew
Research Center suggests that 23 percent of U.S. adults have shared fake news, knowingly or
unknowingly, with friends and others. This suggests that sufficient power is given to fake news be
spread and influencing the public to some extent. Social networks could be exploited for various
intentions with packaged untrue contents. The term fake news refers to inaccurate reports that are
generated for gaining attention, misleading or deceiving their readers. The term social media refers to
the online communications channels where information is shared. This essay will explain the negative
impacts of fake news by focusing on its ability to decrease social media reliability, induce unnecessary
fear and disturb political decisions.
Firstly, the social media trust is one of the negative impacts of the fake news in social media. In recent
years, with the number of fake news increasing, the public trust of social media news had been
decreased. Reliability in social media is lower than reliability in traditional publishers. According to

Entrepreneurship is commonly linked with brick and mortar business run by a sole proprietor or
someone with a brand new invention. However, entrepreneurship is much more than this, ask any
American teenager who grew up in the late 1980 s or early 1990 s and they will tell you rap music was
immensely popular and dominated solely by African American artists. Conversely, they all stopped,
collaborated, and listed to a new artist on the music scene, who broke the mold and stereotype of the a
typical rap artist. The white rap artist known as Vanilla Ice is defiantly an example of a modern day
entrepreneur.

The Importance Of Competence In Physical Education
Introduction
As students advance through primary and secondary physical education, perceive competence will
influence their intrinsic motivation towards engagement. In a traditional sports unit, students that have
low capability will struggle. Furthermore, students that are low skilled alienate themselves from their
peers. One of SHAPES essential standards is that students need to understand the concepts of fitness
and health that will lead to a lifelong appreciation of healthful behavior. How can teachers devise a
lesson regardless of skill, that will benefit students, affective, cognitive and psychomotor as a whole
irrespective of ability?
Nicholls theory (1984) emphasizes that competence is a crucial element influencing the motivational
process; notably, capability drives physical activity.
Perceived competence is the regulatory system that operates motivation. When students engage in
physical activity voluntarily without the demand stimuli; this is known as intrinsic motivation. In
general, intrinsically motivated students will participate in physical activity for the pleasure and
gratification (Deci, 1975).
Furthermore, motivational regulations can influence engagement in physical activity.
An enthusiastic person participation in a task is known as engagement. (Reeve, 2004). The common
extrinsic motivations for young athletes in physical education are peer interaction, competition, and
skill development. There is room to believe that extrinsically motivated

A Modern Day Form Of Slavery Essay
Literature Review
While DMST is considered to be a modern day form of slavery, history has recorded that the sexual
exploitation of children has been practiced in America since its colonization. While slavery was
abolished in the 19th century, it did not dissipate completely and it wasn t until the beginning of the
20th century that the issue of child sex trafficking began to receive significant attention. This was in
part due to the Trafficking Victim s Protection Act (TVPA) that was passed in 2000 which protected
victims of trafficking by enhancing criminal penalties under the law as well as made benefits and
services to victims available (TVPA, 2000). Since the act s establishment, the TVPA has been
amended 4 times in order to grow with the changing attitudes, policies, and approaches to best combat
human trafficking (DeCeoursty, 2016). The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 refueled the
United States dedication to sex trafficking by declaring DMST as a threat to national security which
transformed the way human trafficking should be approached (DeCeoursty, 2016). The post 911
environment embraced a crime control approach by focusing more on combating organized crime
activity instead of the issue of human rights and the recognition of victimization (DeCeoursty, 2016).
However, this crime control approach to human trafficking failed to address the underlying structural
problems, which is the high demand for the sex trafficking industry. Over time, the Department of

Social Aspects Of Social Norm
A social norm that strikes my fascination is in the initial actions, responses, and facial expressions
individuals convey when greeting other people, whether a person is acknowledging a friend, co
worker, family member, or a stranger, one would think that each person would greet everyone in
somewhat the same manner due to the nature of one s personality and regardless of their relationship
to that individual. I had the assumption that when people have a very bubbly and outgoing personality
they would greet everyone in the same vivacious way. Likewise, when individuals are more reserved
and less likely to take the initiative in introducing themselves to a stranger, I figured they would be
more shy and quiet in their responses. So what I wanted to do was count to three out loud before
saying, Hello back to my friends, co workers, family members, and strangers greetings and see how
they would react to this social norm violation. Therefore, the social norm I chose to break was failing
to respond directly to a person s greeting in the normal response rate and additionally counting out
loud to three before replying.
To get a fairly accurate conclusion of my findings, I responded to sixteen greetings in this peculiar
way. I gathered the reactions from four friends, four co workers, four family members (although three
were over the phone), and four random strangers who came up to talk to me. Of the twelve individuals
I know personally, all of their personalities vary in the

Topic: Critically analyse Dog of Titwal in the light of partition literature with respect to the Indian
subcontinent.
The Dog of Titwal written by Saadat Hasan Manto talks about he Kashmir conflict that started after
India and Pakistan got independence. The conflict started on 22nd October, 1947 and is still going on.
In this story, the nature is described in a way that it gives an imagery of peaceful hills of this disputed
area of Kashmir but is a dark area because of ongoing conflicts between India and Pakistan over
Kashmir. It is often said that Kashmir looks like paradise but ironically the most violent and gruesome
activities take place in this place that looks like paradise. The war, mostly in the form of ... Show more

The author also conveys the irrational behavior towards the conflict and unnecessary violence.
The war is shown as boring and stagnant in Dog of Tithwal . The beginning of the story suggests that
this conflict is endless. War has become like a routine for the two countries and a part of the
environment that separating it from the elements of nature has become almost impossible. The air is
described as quite unmindful of the soldiers hiding behind the rocks and camouflaged by mountain
shrubbery. The birds sang as they always had and the flowers were in bloom. Bees buzzed about
lazily.
This suggests that not only the war has become a routine for everyone and a part of the environment
but people have stopped questioning the war and the conflicting activities taking place. Jhun Jhun, the
dog has no say in this conflict and is voiceless just like the Kashmiris have no say in where they

The Brown Burro and Nature Essay
I breathed a sigh of relief finding everything in our camp as we had left it. Time seemed to have stood
still in this part of the world; I felt as though we had been gone for ages when actually it was only
three and a half days. I showered Frog with affection, and gave him the last of our cookies and chips.
That night, Satan and Puss slept with me in my trailer. Frog kept me awake with his constant stomping
and braying. Snow had fallen during our absence. Only patches of thin crust remained at Harry s
camp. The hills beyond were covered with a blanket of mushroom like beauty glistening in the desert
sun, which notwithstanding its angle in the sky, would wreak havoc with the snow before the day was
done. I drove up the canyon in my Jeep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two burros stood glaring at one another, and then they pawed the earth, and charged. I heard the
sound of the impact and they arced in the air like colliding locomotives, their loud, echoing blasts
resounding across the canyons, and they bit at one another in a most vicious manner, which resulted in
bloody lacerations about their bodies, then abruptly they stopped their combat and began grazing; and
all was peaceful. The Jennies, close by, some accompanied by nursing yearlings, and older burros,
regarded the two battling males with what appeared to me as casual regard; then the black one trotted
over to the herd, and mounted one of the Jennies; and the entire herd let out a combined burro chant
and charged as one, down the slope in my direction, the coupled pair leading the way! There I stood in
awe, camera with telescope lens dangling at my side. I looked around for a route of escape, or some
kind of protection, and thought of running to my Jeep, but it was too far away, and the slope was
barren of tree or boulder; I was trapped, doomed to be trampled to death by a raging herd of wild
burros. Then suddenly, as if on command, the charging herd split and stormed by me in a thundering
roar of dust and dirt, and disappeared down a draw; and all was silent as though they had not been
there, and what I had experienced but a dream. I sat down on the ground, buried my head in my arms.
An overwhelming sensation of fear gripped me and I

The Effect Of Traffic On Major Cities By Running A Few...
Traffic Lab
ITEC 201 In this lab we will examine the impact of traffic on major cities by running a few test
simulations as well as examining data on the topic. Please answer the following questions in detail.
1. What are some major challenges you feel cities face when dealing with and handling large amounts
of traffic? What could be some potential solutions that could minimize some traffic congestion?
When dealing with handling large amounts of traffic, cities may experience a higher incidence of
accidents or speeding cars due to road rage. Cities also deal with risking driver safety because some
drivers may be tired from long hours at work and do not have enough energy to stay awake throughout
the hours of traffic on the road home every day. Traffic congestion not only affects car drivers, but it
may also delay the trip of those who get to places on the bus and in taxi cabs as well. On city roads,
traffic congestion may lead to the death of many pedestrians by car accident because drivers may
become impatient and outrageously try to run red lights or not stop at the crosswalks. Also, the
running engine in the high traffic may lead to high rates of air pollution. Some potential solution are to
build bridges or streets around the city that are made mainly for public transportation services such as
the city bus or taxi cab in order to reduce the number of frustrated drivers on one road. Also, cities
may also arrange for road construction to be done at times when the

Yum Brands Financial Statement Analysis

The Crisis And Financial Crisis
Since 1970s, with the continuously deepened process of financial liberalisation and financial
deregulation, the increasing improvement of financial innovation and the intensified fierce
competition, diversified operational strategy has shown an increasingly apparent trend among
financial institutions. A wave of business diversification swept global financial firms from the later
1980s until the recent financial crisis happened. From the microeconomics perspective, comparing
with specialised business structure, a diversified operation may provide financial holding groups more
benefits that generated from information advantage, the economy of scale and effect of coordination.
Also, diversification is considered to disperse risks that exposed to financial holding groups. Many
people believe that the development of global financial institutions shows a continuous trend in
business diversification and cross industry business operation and such trend will keep going on in the
future. However, the subprime crisis and subsequent downturn again drew people s attention to the
pros and cons of universal banking. Around 2008, the global financial system was suffered a
destructive crisis which especially destroyed the western financial world heavily. To prevent such
crisis in the future, discussions and debates were being heated. Solutions and measures were proposed
by many countries regulators. Factors that several reasons underlie the financial crisis have been
widely blamed, for

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Observation Methods
The observation method is the most commonly used method especially in studies relating to
behavioral sciences. Under the observation method, the information is sought by way of investigator s
own direct observation without asking from the respondent. The main advantage of this method is that
subjective bias is eliminated, if observation is done accurately. Secondly, the information obtained
under this method relates to what is currently happening; it is not complicated by either the past
behavior or future intentions or attitudes. Thirdly, this method is independent of respondents
willingness to respond and as such is relatively less demanding of active cooperation on the part of
respondents as happens to be the case in the interview or the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The results are then to be interpreted for drawing the inference from the experiment. Another
important thing in the observation is that this is a critical role player in any experiment or research.
The surveys in the research need to be observed minutely and they are to be interpreted by statistical
or theoretical means.
Observation thus is a vital role player in any research as these parts make or procure the data available
from different surveys like questionnaires or interviews to make the data converted to information.
This information is the player for justifying a hypothesis or making the research informative and result
oriented. Not only that, the observation also is concerned about the historical part of the research or
research field or topic. The topic or field on which the research is based is to be justified by the
previous researcher s view and view point and that is best done by the observation part. Thus
observation starts from the collection of data and interpreting them on the basis of the historical
research on the topic and also on the analysis of the participants and the participant s research
elements on the topic at earlier

Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Tame A Wild Tongue
Blah Blah Blah Title In How to Tame a Wild Tongue, Gloria Anzaldua uses rhetoric and personal
anecdotes to convey and persuade her argument that Latin Americans are forced to relinquish their
cultural heritage, and to conform to white society. The evidence she provides comes in a variety of
platforms, both literal and rhetorical. Rhetorical, being through emotional, logical, and credible
appeals through her text. Literal being explicitly stated, without any further analysis necessary. When
she utilises the modes of appeals, they are subtle within the texts, which leads the reader to analyse as
they read. She conveys ideas of internalised oppression, involuntarily imposed upon to follow strict
social rules, the act of people erasing cultural heritage, as well as the importance of embracing
personal heritage. Throughout her essay, Anzaldua s main structure is unlike the standard structure of
an essay. Her thoughts are organised, and radical, which gives a more personal tone to her essay. This
radical structure is witnessed within the introductory paragraphs, she begins her essay with an
anecdote. The dentist is telling her in an authoritarian tone, we re going to have to control your tongue
, which has a double meaning. One meaning within the anecdote, the dentist is an authority figure and
is implying that her tongue is out of control and that it needs to be in control. The second meaning of
this is that the dentist represents society, and he is cleaning out the

The Spectrophotometer Determinationof Iron in Teff
Introduction The research question is: the spectrophotometer determination of iron in teff and a
measure of the bio availability to suggest ways in which bio availability or absorption is increased and
consequently anemia decreased.
Iron is one of the most important elements that is needed by different living organisms. One of its
functions is to control cell growth and aid in differentiation of cells. However, one of its most
important responsibilities is found in hemoglobin. which is involved in allowing oxygen transport in
portions of the blood. Iron is available in two oxidation states: Fe2+ and Fe3+. The one that is readily
absorbed in the human body is Fe2+. Thus in this extended essay, I will focus on the concentration of
Fe2+ in four cereals teff, wheat, maize and sorghum. Limited amounts of absorption of Fe2+ in the
human body causes iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is when a person has a red blood
cell count that is less than normal or when there are few hemoglobin molecules in each red blood cell.
Consequences and effect of this to humans could be fatigue, headaches, palpitations, lethargy and etc.
One of the causes of iron deficiency anemia is the bio availability of many grains and legumes. The
less bio available or in other words the less absorbed the nutrients of the cereals we eat are, the
prospect of iron deficiency anemia occurring becomes higher. I will show this need of Iron in the
blood by first measuring the iron contents of the four

Effects Of Listening On Mozart s Music
Countless studies have proven time and time again that a student s performance in school is greatly
increased when they learn to play an instrument. The studies discuss the Mozart Effect, which says
that listening to Mozart s music can increase a child s ability for spatial reasoning, as well as help
brain development. The studies also cite the fact that many of history s most intelligent men, like
Albert Einstein and Benjamin Franklin, played one or more musical instruments. These studies are
wrong. Students should not be required to learn an instrument, because it does not help them perform
better in school. This fact was proven by a study done by Harvard researchers. The study was
relatively simple. The researchers gathered together 29 parents and their four year olds. The children
were then asked to complete a vocabulary test. After the test was completed, the children were
randomly split up into two separate groups. One group was designated to take music lessons for a
year, while the other took visual art lessons for a year. When the year was up, the children were tested
on cognition, vocabulary, math, and spatial tasks. These tests were chosen because they are more
representative of intelligence than a simple IQ test. The students who had taken music lessons for a
year performed almost identically to the students who had not taken any music lessons. The only
difference was that some of the music lesson students performed marginally better on one of the

The World Of The Eastern Hemisphere
Before the renowned expeditions of Christopher Columbus, or Ferdinand Magellan, the Polo family
were the original explorers whose triumphs and success stories inspired future travelers to discover the
unknown world of the Eastern hemisphere. During the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, Europe was
in need of an intervention, something to bring life to the dull communities throughout the continent.
Marco Polo brought exactly this, and contributed so much more with his travels across the world,
bringing back religious morals, new spices, new languages, and new commercial goods that were
never heard of before. Although his intention might not have been as significant as his impact, the
obstacles he encountered and traversed through as written throughout his book, sparked an interest and
desire for international trade and traveling for Europeans to come. His unique spark and impressive
capabilities proved he was a tough man, especially with the voyages he survived, the diseases he
avoided, the country he governed, the bandit ambushes he fought, and imprisonment he endured. Not
only was he able to document his journey to various places, but he was also able to spread his
experience throughout Europe, thereby immortalizing his name.

Gonorrhe Sexually Transmitted Infection
Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection that can infect both men and women equally. The
infection is found most commonly within the youth between ages fifteen and twenty four years old. It
can cause infections to the throat, male and female genitalia, and the rectum. Gonorrhea can be spread
through sexual contact. Oral, anal, and vaginal sex are all ways to be infected if one was to have
unprotected sex with another person.
A woman who is pregnant and becomes infected with gonorrhea can possibly infect her child if not
treated promptly. The infection can be transferred to the offspring through childbirth. One can avoid
contracting gonorrhea or any other sexually transmitted infection by not having sex and remaining
abstinent. Other ways to avoid contracting the infection are by remaining in a monogamous
relationship with a partner who has also been tested and is sure not to have the infection. One other

Leadership Qualities Of An Effective Leader
Leadership: the definition states that someone in the position of leader, who guides or directs a group.
This definition is hauntingly broad to me. Leadership, I believe, is not an idea that can be defined. It is
instead an exemplary action by a single person whose best interest lies with the betterment of the
group, and not himself. The qualities of an effective leader are apparent in Lord of the Flies. As for an
effective leader in today s society, this essay will analyze the leadership qualities of the Republican
and Democratic front runners in the current political race.
A leader displays great knowledge, great charisma, and unwavering courage. These characteristics are
best shown by Ralph in Lord of the Flies. What makes Ralph such a great leader is the fact that while
he is just a kid, he possesses the maturity to know what needs to be done in order to save them from
being stranded on the island. His first priority is to get the other kids off the island, despite the
temptation to play and enjoy themselves. Credit Piggy as Ralph s advisor, as Piggy clearly shows his
wealth of knowledge throughout the story. Together the two show great knowledge by deciding to
build a signal fire, organizing groups of workers, hunters, and gatherers, and knowing what needs to
be done. Because Ralph truly knows what needs to be done and how it needs to get done, I believe
also displays his charisma. All the children on the island are led to listen to Ralph because he knows

Upon entering the Child Study Center, I was nervous at how the children would react to me, and if the
children would want to interact with me. I went during the afternoon for each of my visits so
unfortunately, I was only able to interact the fours. On my first day, Oct 9, 2017, I walked into the
room where the activity centers were and observed how the children were interacting with the centers
they were at and the children they were playing with.
After, walking around and observing the children, one of the boys from the Lego center began to show
me what he was building and then informed me that it was okay to come sit with him and the other
boy he was with, to watch them play. I watched them play and build a baby police station for a couple

The Importance Of Cheating
Cheating is one of the ultimate signs of betrayal. Whether it be emotional or physical, cheating is
cheating. Harvey describes cheating throughout the novel through the lens of women who may not be
satisfying their man properly mentally or physically. He insinuates that the biggest reason of all [are]:
there s always a woman out there willing to cheat with him (Harvey et al., pg. 105). Not shockingly,
Harvey also manages to blame women for [having] no standards and requirements and who suffer
from serious self esteem issues, making themselves willing to cheat and available to be cheated on
(Harvey et al., pg. 106). Although Harvey is partially correct with his theory, there are always people
who are willing to step outside of their marriage, and it does not matter if they are male and female,
cheating it still cheating. Sadly, the severity of ones actions are not usually recognized until they are
either exposed, or have lost everything they have loved around them due to their infidelity. A person
who cheats does not necessarily make them a bad person. According to Eric Anderson, the author of
At least with cheating there is an attempt at monogamy: Cheating and Monogamism among
Undergraduate, Heterosexual Men, cheating is a result of couples lacking three different types of
monogamy. Each type, physical, desirous, and social monogyny, are determined by how men look at
being monogamous and faithful throughout their relationship. First, physical monogamy is the

Colonial Development, Colonialism, Colonialism And...
What is the relation between colonial experience and economic development? Answer by way of
discussing colonialism, modernisation and economic development. Introduction 300 There is a distinct
relationship between a nation s economic development and its historical colonial experiences. For
centuries, colonial rulers, primarily from Europe, spread throughout the world, across the Americas, in
Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and began to transform the very fabric of a number of populations
and thriving nations. Colonising nations introduced a plethora of technologies and took modern
approaches to the integration into the global economy, which made substantial changes to the
development of a large number of colonised countries. On the other hand, the monopolisation and
exploitation of these cultures and economies spurred centuries of oppression and crippled the
development of what has become known as the Global South. For many nations, the redirection of
wealth and resources to the benefit of colonial nations triggered the end of economic success for what
are now known as developing nations and caused massive inequality and social disparity for entire
populations. In India, expected economic success was significantly stalled by European colonisers,
with key aspects of its society and livelihood destroyed by foreign intervention. As a result, the nation
was hurled backwards and its economic development was held at a standstill, consequently subjecting
the local population

Madness Of Heracles Essay
Euripides The Madness of Heracles offers a critical reassessment of what the term aretē and its
associations meant for the people of ancient Greece. Heracles journey through many states of mind
during the play, and the loss and regaining of his moral virtue give insight into, and trace the transition
of, the term as it reshapes itself through time.
Traditionally, the term aretē refers almost exclusively to warrior related attributes, such the physical
strength, stature, vigour and valour essential for those primed for battle. Possession of these noble
qualities, according to Homer, proved one s excellence . Heracles undoubtedly demonstrates his
worthiness of the epithet as he proved his prowess in combat time and again during the completion of
his labours. Amphitryon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience is thus inclined to mistrust his words, yet cannot help but muse on the eloquent attempt
Lycus makes at twisting Heracles heroism into cowardice. Scholar Isabella Torrance argues that
despite Lycus character, his qualms with Heracles archery are able to cast doubt on Heracles valour .
However, Amphitryon comes to Heracles defence, and retorts that Heracles decision to use a bow is
actually the wiser choice, as it ensures the safety of the user. He accuses Lycus of employing stale
rhetoric , thus insinuating that the audience should be bored by Lycus superfluousness and pay little
attention to his claims. Thus by turning the tables on Lycus attempt to slander Heracles, Amphitryon
simultaneously makes a fool of Lycus, and by contrast introduces the notion of Heracle s intellectual
aretē. Heracles swift and easy killing of Lycus, the supposedly powerful usurper of Thebes, also
reinforces Heracles physical aretē. At this point in the play, Heracles heroism is unquestionable. To the
people of ancient Greece, Heracles would have been seen to uphold all the aspects of a mighty

The Human Rights Act And The United Kingdom Of Great Britain
any scholars have argued that the introduction of the Human Rights Act has fostered a change in the
constitutional order, and that parliamentary sovereignty is no longer the main basis of the British
Constitution. In order to assess whether the introduction of the Human Rights Act 1998 fostered a
change in the constitutional order and that parliamentary sovereignty is no longer the main basis of the
British constitution it is first necessary to understand the British constitution. This essay will analyse
the term constitution and its principles, the effects the Humans Rights Act and the European
Communities Act had on the Uk Constitution and ultimately explain parliamentary sovereignty and

The limitation of power exists so that exercise of power must conform to notions of respect for
individuals and individual rights. Introducing the rule of law, according to Dicey the rule of law has
three meanings (a) the supremacy of regular law over arbitrary power (b) equality before the law and
(c) no higher law other than the rights of individuals as determined through the courts (Dicey, 1885).
When the government is answerable to the law, the court are empowered to make the authoritative
determination of what the law is. Laws must be clear, for example in the case of the Burmal Oil Co
Ltd v Lord Advocate [1965] the House of Lords upheld the claim for compensation against the crown
in respect of damage done by British forces during wartime. It was seen as incompatible with the rule
of law and caused the War Damage Act 1965. Control over the discretionary power is essential. Since
the British Constitution is un codified and the rights and duties of citizens are not expressly codified in
one central document. The classical British view of rights is that individuals were free to do anything
that was not prohibited, the Human Rights Act fostered a change in the constitutional order, as it
incorporated the European Convention on the Protection of Human Rights 1951 [ECHR] into the
domestic law of the United Kingdom. The separation of powers is a model of government that many

Analysis Of The Play By Lin Manuel Miranda s Hamilton
Patiences is a Virtue
In the play created by Lin Manuel Miranda called Hamilton we learn an astounding amount of
different lessons as diverse as from the importance of family to patience. Miranda uses the characters
in the play to convey the importance of patience is a variety of ways. Hamilton, Washington, and
Angelica all have a conflict with patience in this extraordinary play. What separates each of these
characters conflicts with patience is their individualized struggle with the challenge of patience itself,
and their ability or inability to successfully contain the impulse of losing control which is represented
numerous times in the play.
Alexander Hamilton is portrayed as a young man hungry for the chance to leave his mark on history.
At birth, Hamilton was subject to challenges due to his parents inability to care for him. In the opening
song the introduction of hamilton s struggle as a child is presented to us through narration. The play
begins, How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore and a scotsman...impoverished, in squalor grow
up to be a hero and a scholar ( Alexander Hamilton 0:08)? Hamilton s correlation with patience is so
prevalent in this quote because, as you see here, without the patience to overcome the challenge that
an orphan faces such as the absence of a true parent figure, there would be no story to tell. Hamilton
overcomes the odds he faced as a young child and as stated, becomes a hero and a scholar. Hamilton
also shows an inability to

Florida Invasive Species Essay
Invasive species in Florida
Florida, a treasure trove of many, many species of animals and diverse wildlife. How many of those,
Florida species are actually native to Florida though? If you walk outside you will probably see lizards
everywhere, you know, the brown ones. Well, what if I told you, that they are not actually native to
Florida? Those lizards are called Brown Anoles, and they are actually from Cuba and the Bahamas.
This is just one example of the many invasive species, which compete with Florida s native species for
food, resources and territories everyday. A few more examples of invasive species that are harmful to
our wildlife are the Cuban tree frog, which is a threat to not only other frogs but toads and lizards as
well, the Burmese python, which is invading the everglades, and the air potato, which is slowly
creeping its way up through Florida, tree to tree. The Cuban tree frog, true to its name, originates in
Cuba and was brought here through the Caribbean (wec.ufl.edu), probably by cargo or cruise ships,
docking at our ports. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According UF s Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants, the Air potato is both on the Florida Noxious
weed list and is listed as one of Florida s most invasive plant Species since the 1990 s. The air potato
is originally from the tropics of Asia (CAIP) and is heart shaped in appearance. The reason the air
potato is considered a harmful species is because it is parasitic. The potato starts its journey in the
ground and continues upward in vine form to find a host to latch onto. Once the vine finds a host tree,
bush, or other plant, it begins by latching itself onto the outermost leaves, twigs, and limbs. Once the
vine has fully attached itself, it drains nutrients from the fleshy parts of the host, thereby helping itself
survive and harming the host, rendering itself with the label,

The Process of Gene Expression
The process of gene expression is used by all known life known as eukaryotes which include
multicellular organisms, prokaryotes like bacteria and Achaea, and viruses which generates the
macromolecular machinery for life. Gene expression is what turns on the genes and makes a product.
The products made could be an enzyme, a protein, or a control molecule. These products are often
proteins, but in non protein coding genes such as mRNA genes or tRNA genes, the product is a
functional RNA. The order of gene expression is transcription, RNA processing, then translation. The
control of transcription: this is the first step of gene expression when a particular segment of DNA is
copied into RNA by the enzyme RNA polymerase and is then a joined mechanism. During
transcription, a DNA sequence is read by an RNA polymerase, which produces a corresponding,
antiparallel RNA strand called a primary transcript. The order that transcription goes in would start
with the initiate transcription from a gene by binding the RNA polymerase to the promoter DNA. A
promoter is a region of DNA that initiates transcription of a particular gene. The RNA polymerase
then splits the double helix DNA molecule into two nucleotides. When doing this the breaking down
of the hydrogen bonds between DNA nucleotides occurs. The RNA and DNA helix s break apart and
the new RNA strand is complete. If the cell has a nucleus, it will then be processed again which will
then exits to the cytoplasm. During this process a

  • 2. Comparing Grimm’s Fairytale Snow White to Snow White, by... As a child, I was told fairytales such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs every night before I went to sleep. Fairytales are an adventurous way to expand a child s imagination and open their eyes to experience a new perspective. Modernizations of fairytales typically relate to a specific audience, such as adolescence, and put a contemporary spin on the old aged tale. Instead of using whimsical themes heavily centered in nature, the contemporary poems connect with the reader in a more realistic everyday scenario. Also, many modernizations are written in poetic form to help reconstruct a flow in the piece and to develop or sometimes completely change the meaning from that of the original fairytale. The seven dwarves decide Snow White is to captivating to be buried underground so they decided to encase her in glass and take turns guarding her remains. One day a handsome prince happens to come across the beautiful dead princess and begs the dwarves to let him purchase her. Reluctantly, the dwarves give the prince Snow White and a bump on the transport home causes the poisonous apple to fall out of her mouth and the princess magically comes back to life. The prince marries Snow White, and the evil step mother is forced to dance in hot iron boots until she dies. • 3. Self-Medication In Wild Animals Research indicates that wild animals utilise aspects of their natural environment to self medicate in at least three ways. The use of rough plants as a type of intestinal scour is a prevalent technique for the removal of internal parasites. Some animals also poison their internal parasites by ingesting toxic plants found in their natural habitat. In addition, in order to neutralise toxins in the plants they eat, some wild animals engage in geophageous behaviour. A widespread method of self medication in wild animals is the use of abrasive plants to purge the digestive system. Research conducted on two continents shows that some wild animals deliberately consume plants whose leaves are covered with microscopic hooks which scour the intestines. ... For instance, researchers discovered that some tropical birds practise geophagy when they consume seeds that contain alkaloids, which are toxic. In an experiment with seed eating macaws scientists discovered a direct link between the consumption of clay and the reduction of alkaloids in the birds bloodstreams. Furthermore, the leaves of many tropical plants contain high levels of toxins, and scientists have observed that herbivores in tropical regions regularly consume clay. Elephants, for example, only cease consumption of clay during specific times of the year when their diet changes from leaves to fruit. As a result, researchers have concluded that these wild animals ingest clay in order to neutralise the poisons contained in the plants they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Apple has already sold more than 39 million iPods in 2006, thus the company can count on its existing customers for the iPhone. The other potential customers for this product can also be: the people interested by technology or technophobes, middle and high class segments who are willing to pay more for a better user experience, professionals in media and design and finally young people who are interested by the image reflected by the product. Competitors With the iPhone, unlike the iPod, Apple is not creating a new market it is muscling the mobile market (BBC). In fact in the UK, more than 80% of the households have already a mobile phone; however the mobile market is changing so the customers are not only buying a mobile phone for its functionality but also for the other features that it can provide such as the design for example. Since, there is an established market; there will be two main types of competition: one against the distributor and another one against the product. The competition against the distributor is particularly important in this case as there is only one company distributing it in the UK: O2. One of the rapid reactions to the launch of the iPhone; is by Vodafone who has created a service called Music Station to be launched for Christmas and which will give unlimited access to its customers to more than 1 million music tracks. Chlamydia Trachomatis Research Paper Chlamydia trachomatis is an obligate intracellular bacterium and the causative agent of sexually transmitted disease in humans and is a widespread public health concern because of their high prevalence. Worldwide, an estimated 90 million sexually transmitted C. trachomatis infections occur each year ( Global Prevalence and Incidence of Selected Curable Sexually Transmitted Infections: Overview and Estimates; World Health Organization, Geneva, 2001). Among Chlamydia infected women rates of 60 70% of the patients are not aware of their infection as in most cases infection remains asymptomatic [2,3], highlighting the public health impact of this disease. Thus, detection of infected patients relies mostly on screening. However, despite the major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... trachomatis is classified into two biovars: the trachoma biovar which includes ocular and urogenital strains (A K) and the LGV biovar (L1 L3) [21]. Trachoma strains are characterized by localized infection, while serovars A C cause infection of the epithelial surface of the conjunctiva, serovars D K are responsible for infections in the urogenital tract, especially in the endocervix [22]. Chlamydiae have a unique biphasic developmental cycle, which alternates between two distinct morphological forms, the elementary bodies (EB) and the reticulate bodies (RB) (Moulder, 1991). When infection occurs the EBs, which are metabolically inert, attached to and stimulate uptake by the host cell. Upon entry, the internalized EBs remain within a membrane bound, host derived parasitophorous vacuole, termed an inclusion, where they differentiate into larger, reticulate bodies that are non infectious but metabolically active form, called RBs [24 26]. The RBs undergo proliferation by binary fission and inclusion growth, and after 8 to 12 rounds of multiplication, the RBs convert back into EBs. At 30 84 hours post infection (PI), depending on the infecting species the infectious EBs progeny are released from the host cell, which is going through lysis, to attach the neighboring cells and initiate another cycle. However, under stressful growth conditions caused by immunological response, antibiotic treatment or nutrients starvation [27 33], the developmental cycle is disturbed and the EBs convert to enlarged, aberrant, non infectious bodies (AB), until the stress factor is removed [25]. This in vitro state that was defined by viable but non cultivable Chlamydiae involving morphologically enlarged, non dividing, aberrant RB which is generally reversible to yield infectious EB is called chlamydial persistence [26,27]. This is because as the flow rate is constant (Conservation of mass) while the area of the flow cross section decreases when it gets closer to the barrier wall, the flow velocity increases. This is best understood by referring to the continuity equation, Alternatively, it can also be explained by referring to the equation , where the k value is constant while the hydraulic gradient i defined by i = ΔH/L increases because the head difference ΔH is constant while the flow length L becomes shorter when it gets closer to the barrier wall. 5. It has been said that this operetta consists of racist comments and stereotyping. After thoroughly researching about The Mikado, I have come to the conclusion that The Mikado production in Seattle is offensive, due to their choice of portrayal. This operetta intended to satire the British society, not the Japanese people. In my opinion, the goal of a satire is not accomplished. The librettist merely jokes about the British politics through the eyes of Japanese people. This makes it offensive because, at that time, the Japanese were killed and driven out in the 1800s. What was accepted then does not justify its perpetuation today. People should not be insensitive to the dangers of stereotyping in public as they can cause damage that a lot of people are unaware of (Northwestern Asian Weekly, 2014). To being with, the Seattle production of this operetta hired white actors to play Japanese people. It was entirely comprised of white actors who are transformed into Japanese characters with the help of makeup. Where did all the Asian actors go? What made Gilbert want to utilize white actors? In other words, most of the released prisoners did not escape the cycle of recidivism and were sent back to the prison after time. This indicates that the present American justice system, which focuses on punishment as Benson (2003) noted, fails to rehabilitate prisoners efficiently and is far from achieving the goal of reducing crime rates (p. 46). The Importance Of Competence In Physical Education Introduction As students advance through primary and secondary physical education, perceive competence will influence their intrinsic motivation towards engagement. In a traditional sports unit, students that have low capability will struggle. Furthermore, students that are low skilled alienate themselves from their peers. One of SHAPES essential standards is that students need to understand the concepts of fitness and health that will lead to a lifelong appreciation of healthful behavior. How can teachers devise a lesson regardless of skill, that will benefit students, affective, cognitive and psychomotor as a whole irrespective of ability? Nicholls theory (1984) emphasizes that competence is a crucial element influencing the motivational process; notably, capability drives physical activity. Perceived competence is the regulatory system that operates motivation. When students engage in physical activity voluntarily without the demand stimuli; this is known as intrinsic motivation. In general, intrinsically motivated students will participate in physical activity for the pleasure and gratification (Deci, 1975). Furthermore, motivational regulations can influence engagement in physical activity. An enthusiastic person participation in a task is known as engagement. (Reeve, 2004). The common extrinsic motivations for young athletes in physical education are peer interaction, competition, and skill development. There is room to believe that extrinsically motivated ... A Modern Day Form Of Slavery Essay Literature Review While DMST is considered to be a modern day form of slavery, history has recorded that the sexual exploitation of children has been practiced in America since its colonization. While slavery was abolished in the 19th century, it did not dissipate completely and it wasn t until the beginning of the 20th century that the issue of child sex trafficking began to receive significant attention. This was in part due to the Trafficking Victim s Protection Act (TVPA) that was passed in 2000 which protected victims of trafficking by enhancing criminal penalties under the law as well as made benefits and services to victims available (TVPA, 2000). Since the act s establishment, the TVPA has been amended 4 times in order to grow with the changing attitudes, policies, and approaches to best combat human trafficking (DeCeoursty, 2016). The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 refueled the United States dedication to sex trafficking by declaring DMST as a threat to national security which transformed the way human trafficking should be approached (DeCeoursty, 2016). The post 911 environment embraced a crime control approach by focusing more on combating organized crime activity instead of the issue of human rights and the recognition of victimization (DeCeoursty, 2016). • 23. Social Aspects Of Social Norm A social norm that strikes my fascination is in the initial actions, responses, and facial expressions individuals convey when greeting other people, whether a person is acknowledging a friend, co worker, family member, or a stranger, one would think that each person would greet everyone in somewhat the same manner due to the nature of one s personality and regardless of their relationship to that individual. I had the assumption that when people have a very bubbly and outgoing personality they would greet everyone in the same vivacious way. Likewise, when individuals are more reserved and less likely to take the initiative in introducing themselves to a stranger, I figured they would be more shy and quiet in their responses. So what I wanted to do was count to three out loud before saying, Hello back to my friends, co workers, family members, and strangers greetings and see how they would react to this social norm violation. Therefore, the social norm I chose to break was failing to respond directly to a person s greeting in the normal response rate and additionally counting out loud to three before replying. To get a fairly accurate conclusion of my findings, I responded to sixteen greetings in this peculiar way. I gathered the reactions from four friends, four co workers, four family members (although three were over the phone), and four random strangers who came up to talk to me. The Dog of Titwal written by Saadat Hasan Manto talks about he Kashmir conflict that started after India and Pakistan got independence. The conflict started on 22nd October, 1947 and is still going on. In this story, the nature is described in a way that it gives an imagery of peaceful hills of this disputed area of Kashmir but is a dark area because of ongoing conflicts between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. Time seemed to have stood still in this part of the world; I felt as though we had been gone for ages when actually it was only three and a half days. I showered Frog with affection, and gave him the last of our cookies and chips. That night, Satan and Puss slept with me in my trailer. Frog kept me awake with his constant stomping and braying. Snow had fallen during our absence. Only patches of thin crust remained at Harry s camp. The Jennies, close by, some accompanied by nursing yearlings, and older burros, regarded the two battling males with what appeared to me as casual regard; then the black one trotted over to the herd, and mounted one of the Jennies; and the entire herd let out a combined burro chant and charged as one, down the slope in my direction, the coupled pair leading the way! There I stood in awe, camera with telescope lens dangling at my side. I looked around for a route of escape, or some kind of protection, and thought of running to my Jeep, but it was too far away, and the slope was barren of tree or boulder; I was trapped, doomed to be trampled to death by a raging herd of wild burros. Then suddenly, as if on command, the charging herd split and stormed by me in a thundering roar of dust and dirt, and disappeared down a draw; and all was silent as though they had not been there, and what I had experienced but a dream. Traffic Lab ITEC 201 In this lab we will examine the impact of traffic on major cities by running a few test simulations as well as examining data on the topic. Please answer the following questions in detail. 1. What are some major challenges you feel cities face when dealing with and handling large amounts of traffic? What could be some potential solutions that could minimize some traffic congestion? When dealing with handling large amounts of traffic, cities may experience a higher incidence of accidents or speeding cars due to road rage. Cities also deal with risking driver safety because some drivers may be tired from long hours at work and do not have enough energy to stay awake throughout the hours of traffic on the road home every day. Traffic congestion not only affects car drivers, but it may also delay the trip of those who get to places on the bus and in taxi cabs as well. On city roads, traffic congestion may lead to the death of many pedestrians by car accident because drivers may become impatient and outrageously try to run red lights or not stop at the crosswalks. Also, the running engine in the high traffic may lead to high rates of air pollution. Some potential solution are to build bridges or streets around the city that are made mainly for public transportation services such as the city bus or taxi cab in order to reduce the number of frustrated drivers on one road. Also, cities may also arrange for road construction to be done at times when the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Under the observation method, the information is sought by way of investigator s own direct observation without asking from the respondent. The main advantage of this method is that subjective bias is eliminated, if observation is done accurately. Secondly, the information obtained under this method relates to what is currently happening; it is not complicated by either the past behavior or future intentions or attitudes. Thirdly, this method is independent of respondents willingness to respond and as such is relatively less demanding of active cooperation on the part of respondents as happens to be the case in the interview or the ... Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Tame A Wild Tongue Blah Blah Blah Title In How to Tame a Wild Tongue, Gloria Anzaldua uses rhetoric and personal anecdotes to convey and persuade her argument that Latin Americans are forced to relinquish their cultural heritage, and to conform to white society. The evidence she provides comes in a variety of platforms, both literal and rhetorical. Rhetorical, being through emotional, logical, and credible appeals through her text. Literal being explicitly stated, without any further analysis necessary. When she utilises the modes of appeals, they are subtle within the texts, which leads the reader to analyse as they read. She conveys ideas of internalised oppression, involuntarily imposed upon to follow strict social rules, the act of people erasing cultural heritage, as well as the importance of embracing personal heritage. Throughout her essay, Anzaldua s main structure is unlike the standard structure of an essay. Her thoughts are organised, and radical, which gives a more personal tone to her essay. This radical structure is witnessed within the introductory paragraphs, she begins her essay with an anecdote. • 34. The Spectrophotometer Determinationof Iron in Teff Introduction The research question is: the spectrophotometer determination of iron in teff and a measure of the bio availability to suggest ways in which bio availability or absorption is increased and consequently anemia decreased. Iron is one of the most important elements that is needed by different living organisms. One of its functions is to control cell growth and aid in differentiation of cells. However, one of its most important responsibilities is found in hemoglobin. which is involved in allowing oxygen transport in portions of the blood. Iron is available in two oxidation states: Fe2+ and Fe3+. The one that is readily absorbed in the human body is Fe2+. Thus in this extended essay, I will focus on the concentration of Fe2+ in four cereals teff, wheat, maize and sorghum. Limited amounts of absorption of Fe2+ in the human body causes iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is when a person has a red blood cell count that is less than normal or when there are few hemoglobin molecules in each red blood cell. Consequences and effect of this to humans could be fatigue, headaches, palpitations, lethargy and etc. One of the causes of iron deficiency anemia is the bio availability of many grains and legumes. The less bio available or in other words the less absorbed the nutrients of the cereals we eat are, the prospect of iron deficiency anemia occurring becomes higher. I will show this need of Iron in the blood by first measuring the iron contents of the four ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The studies discuss the Mozart Effect, which says that listening to Mozart s music can increase a child s ability for spatial reasoning, as well as help brain development. The studies also cite the fact that many of history s most intelligent men, like Albert Einstein and Benjamin Franklin, played one or more musical instruments. These studies are wrong. Students should not be required to learn an instrument, because it does not help them perform better in school. This fact was proven by a study done by Harvard researchers. The study was relatively simple. The researchers gathered together 29 parents and their four year olds. The children were then asked to complete a vocabulary test. After the test was completed, the children were randomly split up into two separate groups. One group was designated to take music lessons for a year, while the other took visual art lessons for a year. When the year was up, the children were tested on cognition, vocabulary, math, and spatial tasks. These tests were chosen because they are more representative of intelligence than a simple IQ test. Not shockingly, Harvey also manages to blame women for [having] no standards and requirements and who suffer from serious self esteem issues, making themselves willing to cheat and available to be cheated on (Harvey et al., pg. 106). Although Harvey is partially correct with his theory, there are always people who are willing to step outside of their marriage, and it does not matter if they are male and female, cheating it still cheating. Sadly, the severity of ones actions are not usually recognized until they are either exposed, or have lost everything they have loved around them due to their infidelity. A person who cheats does not necessarily make them a bad person. According to Eric Anderson, the author of At least with cheating there is an attempt at monogamy: Cheating and Monogamism among Undergraduate, Heterosexual Men, cheating is a result of couples lacking three different types of monogamy. Each type, physical, desirous, and social monogyny, are determined by how men look at being monogamous and faithful throughout their relationship. First, physical monogamy is the ... • 43. Colonial Development, Colonialism, Colonialism And... What is the relation between colonial experience and economic development? Answer by way of discussing colonialism, modernisation and economic development. Introduction 300 There is a distinct relationship between a nation s economic development and its historical colonial experiences. For centuries, colonial rulers, primarily from Europe, spread throughout the world, across the Americas, in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and began to transform the very fabric of a number of populations and thriving nations. Colonising nations introduced a plethora of technologies and took modern approaches to the integration into the global economy, which made substantial changes to the development of a large number of colonised countries. On the other hand, the monopolisation and exploitation of these cultures and economies spurred centuries of oppression and crippled the development of what has become known as the Global South. For many nations, the redirection of wealth and resources to the benefit of colonial nations triggered the end of economic success for what are now known as developing nations and caused massive inequality and social disparity for entire populations. In India, expected economic success was significantly stalled by European colonisers, with key aspects of its society and livelihood destroyed by foreign intervention. As a result, the nation was hurled backwards and its economic development was held at a standstill, consequently subjecting the local population ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Madness Of Heracles Essay Euripides The Madness of Heracles offers a critical reassessment of what the term aretÄ“ and its associations meant for the people of ancient Greece. Heracles journey through many states of mind during the play, and the loss and regaining of his moral virtue give insight into, and trace the transition of, the term as it reshapes itself through time. Traditionally, the term aretÄ“ refers almost exclusively to warrior related attributes, such the physical strength, stature, vigour and valour essential for those primed for battle. Possession of these noble qualities, according to Homer, proved one s excellence . Heracles undoubtedly demonstrates his worthiness of the epithet as he proved his prowess in combat time and again during the completion of his labours. Amphitryon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The audience is thus inclined to mistrust his words, yet cannot help but muse on the eloquent attempt Lycus makes at twisting Heracles heroism into cowardice. Scholar Isabella Torrance argues that despite Lycus character, his qualms with Heracles archery are able to cast doubt on Heracles valour . However, Amphitryon comes to Heracles defence, and retorts that Heracles decision to use a bow is actually the wiser choice, as it ensures the safety of the user. He accuses Lycus of employing stale rhetoric , thus insinuating that the audience should be bored by Lycus superfluousness and pay little attention to his claims. Thus by turning the tables on Lycus attempt to slander Heracles, Amphitryon simultaneously makes a fool of Lycus, and by contrast introduces the notion of Heracle s intellectual aretÄ“. Heracles swift and easy killing of Lycus, the supposedly powerful usurper of Thebes, also reinforces Heracles physical aretÄ“. At this point in the play, Heracles heroism is unquestionable. To the people of ancient Greece, Heracles would have been seen to uphold all the aspects of a mighty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The limitation of power exists so that exercise of power must conform to notions of respect for individuals and individual rights. Introducing the rule of law, according to Dicey the rule of law has three meanings (a) the supremacy of regular law over arbitrary power (b) equality before the law and (c) no higher law other than the rights of individuals as determined through the courts (Dicey, 1885). When the government is answerable to the law, the court are empowered to make the authoritative determination of what the law is. Laws must be clear, for example in the case of the Burmal Oil Co Ltd v Lord Advocate [1965] the House of Lords upheld the claim for compensation against the crown in respect of damage done by British forces during wartime. It was seen as incompatible with the rule of law and caused the War Damage Act 1965. Control over the discretionary power is essential. Since the British Constitution is un codified and the rights and duties of citizens are not expressly codified in one central document. The classical British view of rights is that individuals were free to do anything that was not prohibited, the Human Rights Act fostered a change in the constitutional order, as it incorporated the European Convention on the Protection of Human Rights 1951 [ECHR] into the domestic law of the United Kingdom. The separation of powers is a model of government that many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Analysis Of The Play By Lin Manuel Miranda s Hamilton Patiences is a Virtue In the play created by Lin Manuel Miranda called Hamilton we learn an astounding amount of different lessons as diverse as from the importance of family to patience. Miranda uses the characters in the play to convey the importance of patience is a variety of ways. Hamilton, Washington, and Angelica all have a conflict with patience in this extraordinary play. What separates each of these characters conflicts with patience is their individualized struggle with the challenge of patience itself, and their ability or inability to successfully contain the impulse of losing control which is represented numerous times in the play. Alexander Hamilton is portrayed as a young man hungry for the chance to leave his mark on history. At birth, Hamilton was subject to challenges due to his parents inability to care for him. In the opening song the introduction of hamilton s struggle as a child is presented to us through narration. The play begins, How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore and a scotsman...impoverished, in squalor grow up to be a hero and a scholar ( Alexander Hamilton 0:08)? Hamilton s correlation with patience is so prevalent in this quote because, as you see here, without the patience to overcome the challenge that an orphan faces such as the absence of a true parent figure, there would be no story to tell. Hamilton overcomes the odds he faced as a young child and as stated, becomes a hero and a scholar. Hamilton also shows an inability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How many of those, Florida species are actually native to Florida though? If you walk outside you will probably see lizards everywhere, you know, the brown ones. Well, what if I told you, that they are not actually native to Florida? Those lizards are called Brown Anoles, and they are actually from Cuba and the Bahamas. This is just one example of the many invasive species, which compete with Florida s native species for food, resources and territories everyday. A few more examples of invasive species that are harmful to our wildlife are the Cuban tree frog, which is a threat to not only other frogs but toads and lizards as well, the Burmese python, which is invading the everglades, and the air potato, which is slowly creeping its way up through Florida, tree to tree. The Cuban tree frog, true to its name, originates in Cuba and was brought here through the Caribbean (wec.ufl.edu), probably by cargo or cruise ships, docking at our ports. The ... The air potato is originally from the tropics of Asia (CAIP) and is heart shaped in appearance. The reason the air potato is considered a harmful species is because it is parasitic. The potato starts its journey in the ground and continues upward in vine form to find a host to latch onto. Once the vine finds a host tree, bush, or other plant, it begins by latching itself onto the outermost leaves, twigs, and limbs. Once the vine has fully attached itself, it drains nutrients from the fleshy parts of the host, thereby helping itself survive and harming the host, rendering itself with the label, ... • 49. The Process of Gene Expression The process of gene expression is used by all known life known as eukaryotes which include multicellular organisms, prokaryotes like bacteria and Achaea, and viruses which generates the macromolecular machinery for life. Gene expression is what turns on the genes and makes a product. The products made could be an enzyme, a protein, or a control molecule. These products are often proteins, but in non protein coding genes such as mRNA genes or tRNA genes, the product is a functional RNA. The order of gene expression is transcription, RNA processing, then translation. The control of transcription: this is the first step of gene expression when a particular segment of DNA is copied into RNA by the enzyme RNA polymerase and is then a joined mechanism. During transcription, a DNA sequence is read by an RNA polymerase, which produces a corresponding, antiparallel RNA strand called a primary transcript. The order that transcription goes in would start with the initiate transcription from a gene by binding the RNA polymerase to the promoter DNA. A promoter is a region of DNA that initiates transcription of a particular gene. The RNA polymerase then splits the double helix DNA molecule into two nucleotides. When doing this the breaking down of the hydrogen bonds between DNA nucleotides occurs. The RNA and DNA helix s break apart and the new RNA strand is complete. If the cell has a nucleus, it will then be processed again which will then exits to the cytoplasm. During this process a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
