CSR
From the public outcry of unethical sweatshops in the 90s to the Rana Plaza collapse of 2013, the
issue of whether corporations should engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been a topic
of debate. When determining whether branded apparel corporations should engage in CSR or not,
there are many factors to consider, like questions of economics, legality, and philosophical outlook.
From the factors mentioned, philosophical outlooks are extremely subjective and hard to solidify into
legitimate reasons, so I will not explore into such domain. In terms of legality, corporations are not
obligated by law to engage in CSR. CSR is the idea by which corporations voluntarily choose

Bertrand Russell Rhetorical Analysis
Bertrand Russell argues that we should worship our good instinct, moral insights rather than
worshiping the evil god. He says we should create our own ideals and worship them. Russell explains
that worshiping our ideals gives us true freedom. As he says, in determination to worship only the god
created by our own love of the good, to respect only the heaven which inspires the insight of our best
moments (pg.51). I disagree with Russell s argument because worshiping our insights does not reflect
reality. Our personal ideals are not realistic. This paper will examine Russell s arguments of his
position of worshipping our good instincts rather than the universal power through his idea of
freedom, human virtue and by turning indignation to resignation. The second part of this paper will
critically analyze Russell s position.
Bertrand Russell is concerned with people, whom he calls savages worshipping the universal power.
These savages respect the power more than themselves because they find the power greater than
anything they see in themselves. Their thoughts and beliefs are of those the power devours. Russell
suggests that we should question whether the universal power deserves this respect. Russell concludes
that we must follow our very own good instinct, which will bring us true freedom rather than the
universal evil power. As he says, the vision of beauty is possible only to unfettered contemplation, to
thoughts not weighted by the load of eager wishes (pg.52).

Kay Redfield Jamison s An Unquiet Mind
An Unquiet Mind Kay Redfield Jamison, an American clinical psychologist and author published one
of her books An Unquiet Mind: A Memoir of Moods and Madness in 1995. The book, as the title
describes, is an emotionally moving memoir of emotions. Jamison has had bipolar disorder, or manic
depressive illness, since her young adulthood and An Unquiet Mind unapologetically takes readers
through the roller coaster of which is her life. Albeit bipolar disorder is hard to understand without
having it, this memoir gives an honest yet informative understanding of Jamison s personal experience
with manic depressive illness. From her early childhood to the peaks of her illness, An Unquiet Mind
shows the perspective of an otherwise perplexing disorder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point in her life, Jamison was slowly developing bipolar disorder and it was starting to
interfere with her judgements and decision making. The style of her writing already gives the
impression of instability and indecisiveness, as she goes from telling about her life as a 28 year old to
telling of her childhood within the first ten pages. Jamison, born in 1946 into a military family moved
around a lot and attended a plethora of different elementary schools. She goes on to tell readers about
how much she looked up to her brother and how her relationship with her sister was complicated yet
loving. Although their family was anything but stable and constant, her parents did their best to make
it feel like it was and she was undeniably supported by her parents. Like her father, Jamison was
wildly interested in sciences. Most particularly, when she visited a psychiatric facility as a child she
became fascinated with the concepts of psychology, and was not afraid to ask questions and speak
with patients, unlike the other participants of the tour. Her father, an Air Force Officer, also has bipolar
disorder and is described as charming and deeply involved in their lives, that is, when he was manic.
As she describes, It was enchanting, really, rather like having Mary Poppins as a

Interview With A Research Coordinator Essay
Analysis of an Interview with a Research Coordinator
Summary
This interview aims to help students understand the role of the research coordinator (RC) and what it
is like for that person to bring a large scale research project from conception to completion. The
interview participant has worked as a RC for many years and has a strong background in statistics.
According to the participant, an essential qualification for a RC is a solid understanding of statistical
concepts and analyses, and the ability to build on that knowledge and apply it to statistical computer
programs. This foundational knowledge is needed because a project can involve a significant amount
of analysis and coding from data. The participant s current research project is a large scale project
involving the implementation of public health policy for BC and Ontario. This research is dynamic
and challenging and always evolving, which requires the RC to be flexible and adaptable. For many of
the team members, this project is not a primary job; therefore, it is important for the RC to find the
balance between project deadlines and allowing people to have personal time. Despite being the lead
for this project, the participant shares decision making with a variety of people and government
agencies in both provinces, which brings various levels of bureaucratic challenges, including gaining
access to data. This and other logistical constraints can make analyzing data and producing papers
time consuming.

Supernatural Elements In Dracula
With the creation of Stoker s vampire, his book enters into Gothic literature. Dracula however was not
the first of the Gothic genre, but was a standout feature in it. Gothic literature focuses on mystery and
horror and a lot of time supernatural elements. Nevertheless, Gothic literature was big in Stoker s life
according to Nicole Lobdell s article, Stoker the Victorian Gothic Stage , Stoker loved Gothic plays,
sensation melodramas, and vampire melodramas. Lobdell states He interprets the causes and effects of
melodramatic performances and translates those elements into his fiction (Lobdell 273). In Dracula, a
key component of its story is its supernatural elements which are a key element of Gothic literature
giving forth the whole story being about vampires. Horror aspects of Dracula can be seen in moments
where vampires lose their humanity. In addition to horror and mystery aspects, Gothic literature is also
about the setting. The settings in Dracula give a sense of suspense and mystery making them Gothic
settings. Settings in Dracula are shown in Galens novel, Dracula : Novels for Students when he states,
the various settings including Dracula s imposing castle, the ghostly landscape of Transylvania, and
the graveyard and Lucy s tomb in London are all settings that are found in Gothic fiction (Galens 32).
Aside from Bram Stoker s Dracula being a Gothic novel it is also classified into different subjects of
literature.
Dracula is told through a series of

The Pros And Cons Of Creative Destruction
Joseph Schumpeter was one of the most famous author and economist in the 20th century. Among his
numerous findings, one stands out; creative destruction. Creation refers to disruptive innovation on
one side, while destruction alludes to the disappearance of some jobs, industries or even sectors on the
other. A popular example is transportation. When combustion engines were invented, horse drawn
vehicles suddenly became out of age. On the short term, there was a lot of job destructions too. If
there was no need for horse drawn vehicles, all adjacent sectors were hit hard: horse breeders were
probably left with less demand, horse drawn vehicles companies began to lose their clientele. In
creative destruction, neither does the creation part nor the destruction part happen overnight. Before
being affordable to the masses and cause the economic disruption mentioned above, the auto industry
had to undergo several incremental as opposed to disruptive changes. Eventually, fordism, which has
been a cause of destructive creation as well, came along the way and created millions of jobs in the
auto industry. When one looks at the jobs created directly, indirectly with auto part suppliers, auto
dealers and thanks to new trade opportunities made possible by this new technology, it becomes
obvious that if jobs losses can be painful, on the long run, benefits from creation overweight its
drawbacks. (Creative destruction, Ricardo Caballero, MIT Economics)

Colour can be defined as the result of light hitting an object and its resulting perception based on the
physics of sight or the eye. Artist have been theorising and implementing colour and colour
relationships for many years, and through many artist/art movements. Successful use and
understanding of colour can elevate a particular piece of art far beyond any that do not successfully
implement colour and its various elements. For this essay I will explore the painting Wo ist Ein
Zigarrengeschäft (1954) by Jean Phillipe Dallaire(Fig 1 3). In this exploration I will examine aspects
of this painting which include Dallaire s use of form, and colour. While also considering briefly
Dallaire s painting in in comparison to Jean Dubuffet s, painting The Dandy (1954)(Fig 4). Both
paintings originate from the same era with two artist interpretations of colour and form, and two sets
of techniques. Before considering the painting itself I will examine the artist himself, as this will help
in understanding his painting, Wo ist Ein Zigarrengeschäft (1954). Jean Dallaire (1916 1965), is a
Canadian artist who was known for his work as a painter, illustrator, and professor. His work is
considered as expressive with the use of festive images, shapes, colour and form, where the real and
the imaginary come together in a visual experience (Cheff, 2008). Jean attended art classes in both
Canada and the united states, but his practice was built on mainly self teaching.

Portrait Of A Teenage Girl Belonging To Jane Austen s Life
The reading claims that a portrait of a teenage girl belonging to one of the members of Jane Austin
family can be titled to Jane Austen according to the numerous ideas. However, the lecturer finds all
the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.
The author argues that in 1882, Austen family authorized to use the portrait for publication of her
letters and obviously distinguished the portrait as Jane. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that
Austen had been dead for 70 years when family members gave permission to exploit that portray in
the edition of her letters. Consequently, they could not have seen her to have any clue about her
teenager s face.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that the face in

Theory Of Knowledge Essay 2014
„That which is accepted as knowledge today is sometimes discarded tomorrow.
Consider knowledge issues raised by this statement in two areas of knowledge.
To what Extent is new knowledge better than old knowledge and therefore can knowledge be
permanent?
To answer this question, one first has to consider that knowledge as such varies on the point of
perspective, since there are many ways of knowing. As for example Reasoning and Sense Perception.
Reasoning is something we use whenever we tend to make a decision, therefore the interpretation of
the word Reason can vary in the slightest form. Our sense of reason is usually decided by our instinct
as we decide almost unconsciously depending on the sort of experience we have had before. ... Show

For example in 2009, the swine Flu was devised worldwide. Later given facts proved that the amount
of deaths caused by the Swine Flu measured annually were similar to any other of a normal Flu. 1This
proves my point that scandals are devised to the wider public to hide real problems. The modern
media makes this very easy, as they seem to push the importance of scandals. This can be linked to the
area of knowledge History, as it might have been the case with past incidences, and therefore how do
we know if they are correct?
Today is a time measurement representing the present. This makes me wonder what knowledge exists
today? Will it be permanent? To what extent is knowledge temporary? As we have seen in the past,
knowledge we have gained previously proves to be wrong over a certain amount of time. If we look
back for example people used to believe that the earth was flat. This was predominantly because the
technology was not there to research further. So basically a lack of technology hinders us from
knowing everything. Can this be applied to us? It is often said that the more you learn the less you
know, which conveys much the same problem as the essay. For example myself, when I was younger,
I used to believe that colours were just given by nature. But now after some time in Physics lessons, I
realised that colours are nothing more than the visual perception from the light reflection depending
on its wavelengths. How do we know we can trust the

Music Concert Report Essay
Music Concert # 1
On Thursday April 25, 2013 , I attended a jazz vocal concert at the Music Concert Hall. The first vocal
ensemble opened up the performance with a slow rhythmic song called Blue Skies. It began with
vocals and I noticed a light auxiliary percussion and drum rhythm. Also, the bass guitarist used
walking bass and the piano and electric guitar joined in as well. The first song also consisted of two
soloist Regina and Chantel who took the front stage to show off their chops. After the solo
performances they fell back into the vocal sections and finished off the song as a complete band. The
second performance had a piano opening which led to vocals joining in at the same time as the rhythm
section. This performance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After this, a female soloist performed and as a whole group the song finished. The second vocal
ensemble of the night started out with a song which included a twelve bar blues, called I use to know

improvising style. The entire band started all together which led to a Trumpet solo. Then Jose on the
Sax did his solo followed by the pianist comping. Then the choir along with the band joined together
to lead to a female solo which was particularly interesting since she was scatting. The second
performance of this ensemble was Spring can really hang you up the most which consisted of 3/4 time
and 4/4 time. This started with a female solo vocalist then a male one. The band as a whole played
together and ended with a male solo scatting. The third and shortest performance of the night was a
vocal acapella piece, Love walked in which was short and sweet. The fourth performance of the night
was a Richmond Rogers piece. This had a rhythmic swing/salsa feel from the Lady is a tramp . This
started with the rhythm section, with the male vocalist and horns. Then the female vocalist from the
choir joined and concluded this piece. The fifth performance for the group was a sequel to voice stand
an acapella piece by Greg Jaspers. This song started with the choir using their voices as the
instruments altogether. The final performance of the night was one of

The Black Church In The African American Experience Summary
This week s assignment is to answer questions, in essay format, from chapters 5 and 6 of the assigned
textbook, The Black Church in the African American Experience, by C. Eric Lincoln and Lawrence H.
Mamiya, provided the answers. Below are responses to the five questions: 1. What does the increase
of education Among African American clergy indicate? From reading chapter 5 of the textbook, it has
been determined that the increase of education reflects the effects and influence of the civil rights
movement and the desegregation of education. 2. Why is it difficult to track or do statistical and

What is indicated by the profile of the urban clergy? Chapter 6 eluded to these particulars, urban
clergy identified with one primary black denomination (90%); urban clergy members were
overwhelmingly male (98%); 88% of urban clergy members were married, 3.6% were divorced, 5%
were single, and 2.7% were widowed. Here is a summary, the typical urban clergy member is male,
51.5 years of age, pastors full time without another occupation, married, owns his own home (not
supplied by the church), identifies with only one denominational group, earns more than rural clergy,
does not get a car allowance, has no health insurance via the church, is not a college graduates, and his
primary responsibility with the church is just to preach. 5. What ministry types are present within the
Black Urban Church that may not take place in the Black Rural Church setting? Bible Study Groups,
Prayer Meetings, are the ministries that were present in the urban church and not the rural church. This
reading application has again uncovered supplementary and important information on the history of
the African American church. It also provided a look into the future of the church. Further study in this

Since 10 Things I Hate About You is a modern adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew the characters
share similar personalities and even names. First, they have the same main characters. Kathrine
Minola in The Taming of the Shrew and Kat Stratford from 10 Things I Hate About You are both
women who are very rude, harsh and are sometimes violent. From their personalities, it is obvious that
both are the shrew in the play and the movie, which means they are argumentative and ill tempered.
Kat is more verbally abusive while Kathrine is physically abusive. Although they are seen and viewed
as shrews , Kat is more like an opinionated woman who believes in what she thinks and is not afraid to
say it. Petruchio and Patrick Verona, loved which is from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You , are
the suitors for Kat and Kathrine. Although in 10 Things I Hate About You Kat and Patrick did fall in
love but Petruchio and Kathrine did not love each other, their relationship was mostly about the
money that was given by Bapista to Petruchio. The difference is also the age. In 10 Things I Hate
About You they are all high school students while in The Taming of the Shrew they are of marrying
age. Then there is Lucentio, Cameron in 10 Things I Hate About You . They both like Bianca, Bianca
Minola in The Taming of the Shrew which are Kat/Kathrine s sisters. Cameron was not very confident
to go to Bianca and talk to her when he first saw her. Lucintio in the other hand was a man with high
self esteem. An example of a quote said by Lucintio about Bianca is O Tranio, till I found it to be true,

What are the potential sources of the problem?
The source of these problems seems to be coming from two areas in Interwest Healthcare. The first
area is the miscommunication that the hospital administrators are having with upper management. The
hospital administrators and upper management are not only having miscommunication issues but they
also do not share the same role expectations with each other which is creating tension. The hospital

But before any changes to the data entry process are made it is important to communicate directly to
the hospital administrators. It is important to have the hospital administrators on board with the
changes that will be made with the data entry process. By gaining the hospital administrators consent
with the changes this will allow a smoother transition for the data entry change and it could provide a
positive change to the workplace. As for the changes to the data entry it would most likely be a simple
computer process along with small piece of paperwork. It would be best to have some sort or paper
record on file that would need to be alphabetized along with a simple computer program. The
computer program would help ensure accuracy and would have the patient s data record on file which
will be easy to locate. There would be very little paper work for the process mainly because it takes up
space and takes more time to record. The paper work that is part of the process would simply serve as
a backup if the computers were down. The key to ensuring accuracy with the data entry is to make the
process as simple as possible so it would minimize the errors.

ABSTRACT
We report the effect of variation in concentration of calf thymus DNA on the fluorescence emission of
OM 73 and OM 120 in different media. Both intercalative and charge dependent binding may occur
between the OM 73 compound and DNA. Through fluorescence titrations the binding constant of OM
73 in a salt solution was estimated. Binding of OM 73 to ds DNA is not temperature dependent.
After one week of exposure to room temperature, both OM 73 and OM 120 solutions exhibit changes
in uv visible absorption spectra and fluoresce spectra. Additions of DNA to OM 73 yielded atypical
reductions in fluorescence intensity with low ds DNA BP additions [0 50 micromolar] to OM 73, and
significant typical increases in fluorescence signal with high ds DNA BP additions to OM 73 [above
100 micromolar].
OM 73 was titrated with low BP ds DNA additions at different NaCl concentrations in order to
investigate the presence of charge dependent binding. When titrating OM 73 at low BP concentrations
of ds DNA, the fluorescence decreases in the low BP concentration range was measured. Smaller
reductions in the fluorescence intensity were observed at larger concentrations of NaCl, indicative of
less binding, when comparable amounts of ds DNA were added. This indicates that the binding of OM
73 at the low BP range to ds DNA BP is almost entirely due to

The Reform Era Of The Twentieth Century
In the history of the United States, working men and women have attempted to survive the social,
political, economic, and social changes from the eighteenth through the twenty first centuries. In order
to ensure their survival, these working people chose from a range possibilities to organize and
strengthen within the restrictions and opportunities of political, structural, and cultural situations. This
paper will prove that throughout the Antebellum period, the long nineteenth century, the reform era of
the twentieth century and up through present day, the United States working people have been
responsible for both their successes and failures in their organizing attempts, but during contrasting
eras, other entities such as the government, employers, and the economy have been responsible for the
successes and failures of the organization workers. In looking at the historiography of United States
Labor History, it is clear that the methodology in explaining the workers attempts to organize shifts
over time, much like who was responsible for the successes and failures of labor organization. Labor
Historian John R. Commons was perhaps the pioneer of writing the history of labor and its
unionization. Commons writes from the perspective of progressivism and has written that the wage
earner, as a distinct class, has been gradually, even violently, separating himself from the farmer, the
merchant and the employer and coming to feel that his standing and progress in society

Texas Environmental Regulations
In my opinion we have to have environmental regulations to sustain the environment we have today.
Many people claim that these regulations restrict business which I think is true and so does Melanie J.
Martin in one of her articles she states Businesses may see certain environmental laws in a negative
light if they must adapt their practices and increase spending to comply with regulations. And if a
company is struggling to make it by as it is I don t think they will survive after paying out of pocket to
comply with new regulations. The laws we have in place today in Texas I think get the job done and
their not to extreme.
I have read that some people believe getting rid of some environmental regulations will boost the

money to help get things fixed around the building students will be satisfied. It would increase the
amount of students that will buy candy and sugary soft drinks. Although selling candy and sugary soft

Candy and sugary soft drinks sold in schools can be less money spent for parents. It reduces not
having money for parents. In addition, it reduces arguments from happening between kids and parents
because the kid will get mad if the parent says no they can not have any candy or soft drink. Then, the
parent will get mad at the kid because he/she wants the candy. However, It prevents the parent from
doing something important with their money. Also It will keep the parent from spending all their
money instead of letting the kid pay out of their pocket.
I also say no because at sometimes kids need nutrition in their body. They need nutrition because a lot
of candy and sugary soft drinks can harm their body in many different ways. In addition, high blood

profile of a killer Essay examples
During the last decade the world has witnessed a staggering elevation in serial killings.
To give some insight into the scale of the problem posed by the serial killer, in the United States can
be gained from examining the statistics for just one year. In 1989 (the last year for which detailed
figures are available) there were 21,500 recorded homicides, of which some 5,000 are unsolved.
Unofficial sources believe that as many as a hundred serial killers may be at large at any given time.
Add to this the number of known victims of serial killers, then between 3,500 and 5,000 people are
killed by serial murderers every year. (Lane and Gregg 3)

Characteristics of a serial killer are imperative in demarcating the type of person capable of
committing a serial murder. quot; Most known serial killers are 25 35 years old quot; (Falk 85). quot;It
is also significant that the victims of serial murderers are not concentrated in any age range quot; (Falk
85). quot;Serial killings are almost always committed by white males instead of blacks because class
resentment is far more likely to occur to a person with a good education than someone without an
appreciation of how society works quot; (Falk 85).
To truly understand the phenomenon of serial murder one must know what motivates a person to
commit such a horrendous crime. Patterns of serial killing fall broadly into two categories of
motivation: quot;Extrinsic, where the impulse to kill is located outside the killer s psyche that is, he
perceives a rational reason for murder in outside situations and events quot; (Fox and Levin 12).
quot;More frequently the motivation is intrinsic to the psyche of the killer, whether or not that
motivation is apparent to an independent observer quot; (Fox and Levin 12). Closer psychological
analysis of known cases indicates that serial murders fit into one of four main types according to the
predominate homicidal motivation: Visionaries, Missionaries, Hedonists, and Power Seekers.
Visionaries include killers who act in response to quot;voices quot; and alter egos, where

Unit 3 Types Of Asexual Reproduction
There are three types of asexual reproduction known as, budding, regeneration, and parthenogenesis.
Budding is the production of new individuals that form from bodies of older animals. Regeneration
can either replace a damaged tissue or form another individual. An example of regeneration is
flatworms. Lastly, parthenogenesis is the development of the offspring from unfertilized eggs. An
example of parthenogenesis is honey bees or ants. In the evolution of sex cells divide because it
replaces cells that have aged and died. Another reason for why cells divide is because it replaces cells
that are lost or damaged known as regeneration. In a cell division chromosomes are replicated and it is

Argumentative Essay On Electroconvulsive Therapy
NEED FOR THE STUDY Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a safe and efficacious treatment; there

the issue of knowledge and attitude towards ECT not only among the patients and their relatives but

Elko County Should Build Vocational Schools
Did you know that Nevada has the lowest graduation rate in the country? If there were more
vocational schools, which were offered at a lower cost, maybe this rate would be higher. Even just
vocational programs in public high schools would greatly improve the graduation rate. Students who
are not engaged in the normal curriculum would have the opportunity to take classes that interest them
in the field of study they choose. Elko County should build vocational schools for students who know
what career they want to pursue, because they should have the opportunity to get the skills needed for
the career, start working towards getting a good paying job right out of high school, and encourage
students in Nevada to graduate high school.
There is a large group of students who by high school know what career they want outside of high
school. These students deserve to have the opportunity to start learning skills needed for that career by
bringing more vocational schools to states like Nevada where the graduation rate is so low. The latest
figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show that about 68% of high school students

The Quranic and Biblical Story of Adam and Eve Christianity and Islam are similar in many beliefs
and have many intersecting histories. These beliefs include major points such as a God and ancient
prophets. However, Islam and Christianity vary significantly between their religious written works.
These works are the Bible and the Qur an. The compilation of both in their respective religions
however do point back to God. God being the omnipotent deity in which these religions believe in. It
should be mentioned that although both religions have a God , that does not mean it is the same God.
There are key differences in beliefs, culture and history between the two. These two religions are
considered Abrahamic religions. Therefore they share a similar past and their records talk about
similar topics and events that transpired in the past. To help distinguish some key points of the two
religions, one can compare the works of them, regarding the past. This essay will compare and
contrast the same story of Adam and Eve in the Qur an and Bible and discuss various key points from
both and how that applies to elements of its religion. In the Bible, on the sixth day of creation, God
created all the land animals and humans. God created man in his own image. In the bible he formed
man and breathed life into him. This first human was named Adam. After Adam, God created Eve. It

Reasons Why Quebec Should Secede
Wow! England is taking everything away from us, Quebec do you think we should secede?, I think so.
One reason why Quebec should secede is because England wants to take away Quebec s language and
culture. This makes people who speak French have to learn a different language and culture like
english and protestant. This is especially hard on children. The second reason why Quebec should
secede is to prevent any wars from happening like the civil and revolutionary war. Wars can happen in
the same country because of other states not agreeing to a new law or anything related to the country.
The last reason why Quebec should secede is because Quebec is outnumbered by the English so they

birds chirping, and the chiming of the hour of the large clock on campus. The mind is instantly cleared

Reality Check on Year Round Schooling Many people, including President Barack Obama believe that
year round schooling is the best option for American students, because the year round system gives
students equal amount of time in school, while increasing the efficiency of a single school building
(Ave 1B). More than two million students in some three thousand U.S. schools attend year round
programs in 41 states (Lawson 48). This astonishing number seems large, but really is only 2% of
students in the United States. Many of the perceived advantages of year round schooling revolve

Enzymes and pH Concentration
Enzymes and pH Concentration
Abstract
Enzymes are high molecular weight molecules and are proteins in nature. Enzymes work as catalysts
in biochemical reactions in living organisms. Enzyme Catecholase is found on in plants, animals as
well as fungi and is responsible for the darkening of different fruits. In most cases enzymatic activities
are influenced by a number of factors, among them is temperature, PH, enzyme concentration as well
as substrate concentration (Silverthorn, 2004). In this experiment enzyme catecholase was used to
investigate the effects of PH and enzyme concentration on it rate of reaction. A pH buffer was used to
control the PH, potato juice was used as the substrate and water was used as a solvent.
The experiments involved PH buffers of different pH were added to potato juice, water, and the
enzyme catecholase. The mixture was then subjected to spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 420nm
taking the absorbance readings. In the second experiment, a phosphate buffer of PH 7.0 was used in
different measures together with different measurement of potato juice and the enzyme catecholase
then subjected to the spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 420nm. The data collected inform of table
and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as line graph and later interpreted, showing that PH and

puzzle (a 4x4 board), and with various names like sliding block , tile puzzle , etc. [1][2]
The 15 puzzle is a sliding square puzzle commonly attributed to Sam Loyd. However, research by
Slocum and Sonneveld (2006) has revealed that Sam Loyd did not invent the 15 puzzle and had
nothing to do with promoting or popularizing it. The puzzle craze that was created by the 15 puzzle
began in January 1880 in the United States and in April in Europe and ended by July 1880. Loyd first
claimed in 1891 that he invented the puzzle, and he continued until his death a 20 year campaign to
falsely take credit for the puzzle. The actual inventor was Noyes Chapman, the Postmaster of
Canastota, New York, and he applied for a patent in March 1880. [4]
The N Puzzle is a board game for a single player. It consists of (N^2 1) numbered squared tiles in
random order, and one blank space ( a missing tile ). The object of the puzzle is to rearrange the tiles
in order by making sliding moves that use the empty space, using the fewest moves. Moves of the
puzzle are made by sliding an adjacent tile into the empty space. Only tiles that are horizontally or
vertically adjacent to the blank space (not diagonally adjacent) may be moved. [2]
The N puzzle game provides a good framework for

My Day Of My Volunteering Program At The University Of...
I reluctantly took a step back as I stared at the commodious bleach white building towering above me.
I have not been here for years and I instantly feel my stomach erupt in butterflies. Today was the first
day of my volunteering program at the University of Florida. I stand outside in the clammy
incalescence Florida weather dredging to go inside the enormous superstructure that reads HOSPITAL
in big red letters. My first impulse is to turn around and whisk back home, but all I can hear is my
mother s stern voice saying You need to this, this opportunity will look amazing on your college
application. I wiped my sweating hands on my dark blue jeans and with all my pugnacity I walked
through the scratching automatic doors. My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the elevator doors open I immediately see colorful walls and the greenest carpet I have ever seen.
The nurse looked at me and smiled This is the pediatric floor, just keep following me. I continued
following the nurse down the hall and as I looked up I saw tiles on the ceiling with different drawings
on each one and different names. We reached two double doors that was opened by a gray button the
nurse pushed. As the double doors open children were revealed, they were no older than ten years old
and looked sick. It did not take me very long to notice tubes covering their small bodies and as I
looked up I saw each of the hairless heads. I gasped as I realized they were cancer children and notice
the yellowish colored chemotherapy drip through their ivs to their fragile bodies. Immediately I think
back to when I was seven years old in the hospital everyday visiting my grandfather. Walking through
those hospital doors seeing my grandpa s hairless head and the pain he went through. I intensely
remembered the grief my family went through when he got cancer and as I look at these children I
would not want them to go through what my grandfather went through. I assume the nurse saw my
facial expression and she said I guess you didn t know you were going to working with cancer kids? I
slowly shook my head but the nurse just grinned Don t be too alarmed then may look sick and fragile,
but that doesn t slow them down. I have come to learn that

Who Is Polonius True In Hamlet
There are a few characters in Hamlet that are true to themselves. Polonius was one of those characters
that was true to himself, he was a very nosie person. Another character was Claudius who was the
same as Polonius in that he was true to himself, but he was different in that he was a liar. Horatio was
another character that was true to himself and that he was loyal. Being true to yourself does not
prevent you from being false with others.
Polonius was true in being very noisy until the very end of his life. Polonius was so noisy that he even
has Reynaldo spy on Polonius s son Laertes. Polonius tells Reynaldo this: That they do know my son,
come you more nearer Than your particular demands will touch it. Take you as twere some distant ...

Horatio was loyal and trustworthy even when Hamlet, Laertes, and the Queen was dying. He was so
loyal to Hamlet that he even wanted to die with him, but Hamlet told him So tell him, with th

Hamlet and did not take his life but he told Fortinbras what Hamlet wanted to tell him. You can be
false with others and still be true to yourself at the same time. Polonius was a noisy person who had to
know what everyone else was doing and that was what made him true to himself and he spied on
everyone that was what made him false with everyone. Agin the same thing happened with Claudius.
Claudius was true to himself by being a liar and a murder. He lied about King Hamlet s death who he
killed making him a murder and making him false to everyone around him. And then there was
Horatio who was true to himself by being trustworthy to his friend Hamlet and not telling Claudius
that Hamlet knew what he did. And by being loyal to his friends as

High Stakes Writing Exercise 4103228 Pol 3489W Caraway High Stakes Writing Exercise CSR From the public outcry of unethical sweatshops in the 90s to the Rana Plaza collapse of 2013, the issue of whether corporations should engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been a topic of debate. When determining whether branded apparel corporations should engage in CSR or not, there are many factors to consider, like questions of economics, legality, and philosophical outlook. From the factors mentioned, philosophical outlooks are extremely subjective and hard to solidify into legitimate reasons, so I will not explore into such domain. In terms of legality, corporations are not obligated by law to engage in CSR. CSR is the idea by which corporations voluntarily choose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Bertrand Russell Rhetorical Analysis Bertrand Russell argues that we should worship our good instinct, moral insights rather than worshiping the evil god. He says we should create our own ideals and worship them. Russell explains that worshiping our ideals gives us true freedom. As he says, in determination to worship only the god created by our own love of the good, to respect only the heaven which inspires the insight of our best moments (pg.51). I disagree with Russell s argument because worshiping our insights does not reflect reality. Our personal ideals are not realistic. This paper will examine Russell s arguments of his position of worshipping our good instincts rather than the universal power through his idea of freedom, human virtue and by turning indignation to resignation. The second part of this paper will critically analyze Russell s position. Bertrand Russell is concerned with people, whom he calls savages worshipping the universal power. These savages respect the power more than themselves because they find the power greater than anything they see in themselves. Their thoughts and beliefs are of those the power devours. Russell suggests that we should question whether the universal power deserves this respect. Russell concludes that we must follow our very own good instinct, which will bring us true freedom rather than the universal evil power. Jamison, born in 1946 into a military family moved around a lot and attended a plethora of different elementary schools. She goes on to tell readers about how much she looked up to her brother and how her relationship with her sister was complicated yet loving. Although their family was anything but stable and constant, her parents did their best to make it feel like it was and she was undeniably supported by her parents. Like her father, Jamison was wildly interested in sciences. Most particularly, when she visited a psychiatric facility as a child she became fascinated with the concepts of psychology, and was not afraid to ask questions and speak with patients, unlike the other participants of the tour. • 5. Interview With A Research Coordinator Essay Analysis of an Interview with a Research Coordinator Summary This interview aims to help students understand the role of the research coordinator (RC) and what it is like for that person to bring a large scale research project from conception to completion. The interview participant has worked as a RC for many years and has a strong background in statistics. According to the participant, an essential qualification for a RC is a solid understanding of statistical concepts and analyses, and the ability to build on that knowledge and apply it to statistical computer programs. This foundational knowledge is needed because a project can involve a significant amount of analysis and coding from data. The participant s current research project is a large scale project involving the implementation of public health policy for BC and Ontario. This research is dynamic and challenging and always evolving, which requires the RC to be flexible and adaptable. For many of the team members, this project is not a primary job; therefore, it is important for the RC to find the balance between project deadlines and allowing people to have personal time. Despite being the lead for this project, the participant shares decision making with a variety of people and government agencies in both provinces, which brings various levels of bureaucratic challenges, including gaining access to data. This and other logistical constraints can make analyzing data and producing papers time consuming. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Creative Destruction Joseph Schumpeter was one of the most famous author and economist in the 20th century. Among his numerous findings, one stands out; creative destruction. Creation refers to disruptive innovation on one side, while destruction alludes to the disappearance of some jobs, industries or even sectors on the other. A popular example is transportation. When combustion engines were invented, horse drawn vehicles suddenly became out of age. On the short term, there was a lot of job destructions too. If there was no need for horse drawn vehicles, all adjacent sectors were hit hard: horse breeders were probably left with less demand, horse drawn vehicles companies began to lose their clientele. In creative destruction, neither does the creation part nor the destruction part happen overnight. Before being affordable to the masses and cause the economic disruption mentioned above, the auto industry had to undergo several incremental as opposed to disruptive changes. Eventually, fordism, which has been a cause of destructive creation as well, came along the way and created millions of jobs in the auto industry. When one looks at the jobs created directly, indirectly with auto part suppliers, auto dealers and thanks to new trade opportunities made possible by this new technology, it becomes obvious that if jobs losses can be painful, on the long run, benefits from creation overweight its drawbacks. Successful use and understanding of colour can elevate a particular piece of art far beyond any that do not successfully implement colour and its various elements. For this essay I will explore the painting Wo ist Ein Zigarrengeschäft (1954) by Jean Phillipe Dallaire(Fig 1 3). In this exploration I will examine aspects of this painting which include Dallaire s use of form, and colour. While also considering briefly Dallaire s painting in in comparison to Jean Dubuffet s, painting The Dandy (1954)(Fig 4). Both paintings originate from the same era with two artist interpretations of colour and form, and two sets of techniques. Before considering the painting itself I will examine the artist himself, as this will help in understanding his painting, Wo ist Ein Zigarrengeschäft (1954). Jean Dallaire (1916 1965), is a Canadian artist who was known for his work as a painter, illustrator, and professor. His work is considered as expressive with the use of festive images, shapes, colour and form, where the real and the imaginary come together in a visual experience (Cheff, 2008). To what Extent is new knowledge better than old knowledge and therefore can knowledge be permanent? To answer this question, one first has to consider that knowledge as such varies on the point of perspective, since there are many ways of knowing. As for example Reasoning and Sense Perception. Reasoning is something we use whenever we tend to make a decision, therefore the interpretation of the word Reason can vary in the slightest form. Our sense of reason is usually decided by our instinct as we decide almost unconsciously depending on the sort of experience we have had before. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The modern media makes this very easy, as they seem to push the importance of scandals. This can be linked to the area of knowledge History, as it might have been the case with past incidences, and therefore how do we know if they are correct? Today is a time measurement representing the present. This makes me wonder what knowledge exists today? Will it be permanent? To what extent is knowledge temporary? As we have seen in the past, knowledge we have gained previously proves to be wrong over a certain amount of time. If we look back for example people used to believe that the earth was flat. Spectroscopic Studies Of A Ruthenium Spectroscopic Studies of a Ruthenium (II) Tris diimine Complex with a Cationic Ligand By: Akiva Raskind Mentor: Dr. Thomas Strekas ABSTRACT We report the effect of variation in concentration of calf thymus DNA on the fluorescence emission of OM 73 and OM 120 in different media. Both intercalative and charge dependent binding may occur between the OM 73 compound and DNA. Through fluorescence titrations the binding constant of OM 73 in a salt solution was estimated. Binding of OM 73 to ds DNA is not temperature dependent. After one week of exposure to room temperature, both OM 73 and OM 120 solutions exhibit changes in uv visible absorption spectra and fluoresce spectra. Additions of DNA to OM 73 yielded atypical reductions in fluorescence intensity with low ds DNA BP additions [0 50 micromolar] to OM 73, and significant typical increases in fluorescence signal with high ds DNA BP additions to OM 73 [above 100 micromolar]. OM 73 was titrated with low BP ds DNA additions at different NaCl concentrations in order to investigate the presence of charge dependent binding. When titrating OM 73 at low BP concentrations of ds DNA, the fluorescence decreases in the low BP concentration range was measured. Smaller reductions in the fluorescence intensity were observed at larger concentrations of NaCl, indicative of less binding, when comparable amounts of ds DNA were added. This indicates that the binding of OM 73 at the low BP range to ds DNA BP is almost entirely due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Patterns of serial killing fall broadly into two categories of motivation: quot;Extrinsic, where the impulse to kill is located outside the killer s psyche that is, he perceives a rational reason for murder in outside situations and events quot; (Fox and Levin 12). quot;More frequently the motivation is intrinsic to the psyche of the killer, whether or not that motivation is apparent to an independent observer quot; (Fox and Levin 12). Closer psychological analysis of known cases indicates that serial murders fit into one of four main types according to the predominate homicidal motivation: Visionaries, Missionaries, Hedonists, and Power Seekers.
