Tracking the Ebola Virus
These past years I spent my time tracking the virus of Ebola as well as its various strains all over the
world. At first I didn t know of the disease, only of the mysterious deaths. I had heard a rumor of a
man by the name of Monet who had become mysteriously sick with a disease that none have seen.
This information led me to Nairobi, Kenya where the man was supposed to be. When I arrived at
Nairobi Hospital I didn t encounter the man of my search. I questioned a nurse, who asked not to be
named, and she stated A very sick man named Monet came to the hospital looking very zombie like
and died but not before exploding over the waiting room and the doctors and nurses who were
operating on him. Also Dr. Musoke was infected and is now unconscious. I then started to search for
Dr. Silverstein who had cared for Dr. Musoke. When I found Dr. Silverstein I told him what I why I
was there. Though he was reluctant to reveal information, I convinced him to tell me that Dr. Musoke
was positive for a virus known as Marburg. Apparently He had never heard of Marburg so I went to
investigate. My sources found out that Marburg is an African virus but was first discovered in
Marburg, Germany. In 1967 a factory that was working with African green monkeys from Uganda.
The virus spread throughout the monkeys causing monkeys to crash and bleed out, and soon after the
virus jumped species and infect first a man called Klaus F. The virus spread killing seven of the thirty

Why The Uk Should Join The Eurozone
A question reviewed on numerous occasions, weather the UK should join the Eurozone, considering
what a currency union intakes, the benefits and costs, a judgment can be entailed weather the
Eurozone would be a valid investment for an economy such as the UK. Exchange rate, capital risk,
interest rates or any monetary policy and fiscal policies, shall be taken in to account when formation a
judgment to weather the UK should become a member of the Eurozone. The heart of this case is
revolved around interest rates and to whether it shall cause a great impact on the financial sector of the
economy, as the UK largest revenue resource is from there banking sector.
A currency union is where more than two economies share the same currency, without having any
additional economic and monetary union, in which resulting in a single market and custom union.
The Eurozone is the economic region formed by those member countries of the European Union that
have adopted the euro. (Perry, S. 1994).
Optimum currency union is a theory published by Mundell in 1961, the theory is used to debate is a
certain area has the requirements to become a currency union, one of the final stages in economic
integration, in which a monetary unions benefits compensate the costs.
Some of the criteria for an optimum currency union are high capital and labour mobility, which allows
capital and workers to move freely through different areas of the union. Wage and price flexibility

Netball. Energy Demands
All three energy systems is important to have in a game of netball. Muscles are also need for all three
energy systems in a game of netball. Muscles require energy to work, and all energy is provided by a
chemical in our cells called Adesonine Triphosphate (ATP). ATP is only stored to last for a couple of
seconds. There are three energy systems which make up of anaerobic and aerobic parts in our body.
The anaerobic system is split into 2 energy systems Creatine Phosphate (CP) and Lactic Acid (LA)
System. These two systems do not need oxygen as ana means no and aerobic meaning air. The ATP
PC (Alactacid) energy system is the predominant engine used by athletes competing in short duration,
high intensity power events (Macmilian et el. 2010 pg.109). If we suddenly begin sprinting, the ATP
has to resynthesise very quickly. The quickest way is a chemical reaction that uses creatine phosphate
(CP) which is found in the muscle cell. There is only enough CP to resynthesise ATP for about 10
seconds. It takes several minutes of rest or low

Challenger And Columbia Shuttle Disasters Essay
Portfolio Project: The Challenger and Columbia Shuttle Disasters Introduction While driving
frantically through the lush farmland of the Livermore Valley to rescue a 9 year who, along with her
classmates had just witnessed the destruction of the Challenger on live television, the question of why
was all consuming. Growing up in the sixties and witnessing the moon landing led many to believe
NASA was infallible. However, nearly twenty years before Challenger, this proved untrue, as the
dangers of space travel were tragically demonstrated when the crew of the Apollo 1 died in an onboard
fire during a test run (Howell, 2012). Following the Challenger tragedy, President Reagan (1986, para.
8) stated, We will never forget them, nor the last ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While root cause analysis of both sentinel events revealed mechanical and debris problems as
causative factors, the underlying problem was much worse NASA s lax safety oversight and slipshod
management. These findings uncovered what dozens, and likely lucky, successful missions had hid
from the public. The country mourned the first tragedy, but demanded change, which made the loss of
Columbia for similar reasons so stunning. Therefore, much of this paper concentrated on change
resistance, as the inability to change organizations is usually attributed to the difficulties in changing
people. Despite the distractions, leadership must push through this resistance or risk irrelevance in the
marketplace. It is for good reasons, organizations use the lessons of the Challenger and Columbia
disasters in all levels of leadership as a warning of the potential for harm when budget constraints,
tight schedules, and deadlines allow flawed reasoning and egos to undermine safety and the decision

Joint Infringement Defense Paper
Federal Circuit Upholds Joint Infringement Defense Recently, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Federal Circuit announced its 2 1 decision in Akamai Techs., Inc. v. Limelight Networks, Inc.,
upholding the joint infringement defense under which a patent cannot be infringed upon if the
infringement relies on two or more parties acting independently. A June 2014 ruling by the U.S.
Supreme Court in Limelight Networks v. Akamai reversed a 2012 decision by the Federal Circuit that
had held Limelight liable for infringing an Akamai patent that covered methods for storing and
delivering large files via the Internet. In defending the suit, Akamai alleged that Limelight had induced
its customers to infringe its patent by instructing then on how to tag files for delivery. The justices
ruled that Limelight couldn t be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Supreme Court struck down this concept of divided infringement, saying that for infringement to
apply, all the steps must be performed by a single entity or entities joined together via contract or other
arrangements. Applying the June 2014 Supreme Court decision, the Federal Circuit found that
Limelight did not control or direct the actions of its clients. Although a contract existed between
Limelight and its clients, the contract did not require clients to perform certain steps that Limelight did
not itself perform. Consequently, Limelight committed no direct infringement and therefore, there was
no indirect infringement. The Akamai case has potential wide ranging implications in patent litigation
and transactional law pertaining to joint technology ventures. The case has been litigated since 2006.
Following this latest Federal Circuit decision, Akamai announced that it would seek a Federal Circuit
en banc review of the most recent ruling and, if necessary, take the joint infringement issue to the U.S.

The Paintings of Romantic Period
The Romantic Period, characterized by new ideas in Western art, literature and music, lasted from the
end of the eighteenth century to the mid nineteenth century. Romantic artists eschewed Neoclassical
history painting to focus on imaginary and exotic subjects, as well as nature. The poet and critic
Charles Baudelaire wrote in 1846, Romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor in
exact truth, but in a way of feeling (Galitz 2004). The Romantic movement was shaped by political,
philosophical, social and artistic movements and embraced passionately in France, Germany,
Switzerland, Britain and North America (Farthing, 2010, p. 266). In each country, artists expressed the
movement in characteristic ways. French painters sought to capture both reality and the exotic. In The
Raft of the Medusa, for example, Thà odore Gà ricault recreated an emotional and horrifying
shipwreck scene that occurred three years earlier. He employed the classical pyramid composition and
created emotion by contrasting pale, lifeless figures with dark, swirling waters and an ominous sky.
The painting caused a scandal when it was unveiled at the Paris Salon in 1819 because it depicted a
terrible accident the public sought to forget. Survivors had turned to cannibalism and many went mad.
The ship that rescued the survivors, the Argus, is seen in the background of the painting, which can be
construed as a criticism of the government for not dispatching the rescue ship in time

The Debate Over Concealed Weapons Essay
In 2007 an armed student killed 32 people at Virginia Tech, making it one of the deadliest gun
massacres in U.S history. As a result, a group known as Students for Concealed Carry on Campus
began a movement to legalize campus carry for colleges in the U.S. Lawmakers then put in place laws
that would allow students and faculty to carry weapons to better defend themselves (The Secret
History of the Campus Carry Movement). As of 2016 Texas became the ninth state to allow concealed
carry on public universities for holders of gun permits. Nevertheless, the debate over whether to allow
concealed weapons in schools remains a hot topic in our political society. Although the different
viewpoints of the new law are evident, the major similarity is the safety of the student body. There
exists two sides for concealed weapons on college campuses in the state of Texas. The side that
believes students are safer by carrying a concealed weapon, and the side that believes the contrary and
says that weapons should not be allowed on school premises. Regulations vary from state to state; 18
states have banned concealed weapons on college campuses and 23 states allow each school to
determine its own policies (Campus Carry). Even after the Virginia shooting, the movement did not
echo with all Americans. With the increased shootings at schools, it can be difficult it can be very
difficult for colleges to guarantee the safety of each student. Law makers feel that the new law will

Charles Dickens Stylistic Devices Essay
Course

Date
Charles Dickens and the making of the modern age Charles Dickens has used various stylistic devices
in his literary works that he did between the year 1812 1870. He employed different styles just like
any other author to make his point out using changing styles in literature. Most of the imagery and
characters in his writings cannot be taken to be literal since they had some hidden meaning in them.
He employed the dramatic technique in his novels, which took a form of more of cinema than pure
theater like most of the literature works. There are a lot of dramatic picture scenes which ring into our
minds when we study his novels like the Fagin s den in the novel of Oliver Twist. These dramatic
pictures convey meanings in themselves in this literature. There is also a gradual change in the style
that Dickens employ in his works like changes in pronominal reference, elaboration, and
nominalisation. This paper analyses the different styles used by Dickens in his novels those before the
1850 and those after 1850.
Oliver Twist In the novel of Oliver Twist, Dickens employ a stylistic device that is considered to be
different to the stylistic device employed in other works by the same author. In this novel, he
employed a shifting narrative voice, which makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

To The Lighthous Feminism By Virginia Woolf
Prior to the 19th century women were regarded intellectually and physically inadequate. According to
that believe, society was divided into two spheres: a domestic and a public sphere. The domestic or
private sphere indicates that women should stay at home; they were not allowed to work or to learn.
Besides that, part of their job is to prepare the next generation or carry on the same way of life. On the
other hand, the public sphere indicated that men are strong mentally and physically. They were the
doers, creators, heroes and the discoverers. That formula of dividing the world into two was against
human nature which led to the emergence of several feminists groups demanding solutions to the
women cause. One of those was Virginia Woolf who functioned her novel To The ... Show more

The term feminism was first employed by Charles Fourier in 1837 and thenceforward it has been

important social, economic, and aesthetic revolutions of modern times (197). Indeed, the history of
feminist campaigns consists of three waves . The First Feminism Wave took place during the
nineteenth century and early twentieth century, in which Virginia Woolf s representation was
noticeable. The goal of this movement was clearly to defend women s right to vote. The activism of
that campaign called it suffrage movement . Then, followed by the women s liberation movement, the
second wave refers to the period of activity in the early 1960s and lasting through the late 1980s. The
center of this wave was women s right and social equality against patriarchy. As a continuation of the
second wave, third wave feminism began in the early 1990s, with the target to modify the perceived
failure of the second

Excise A Tumor Poem Analysis
The first line in How to Excise a Tumor is don t fall in love with it, whatever you do, and given this
poem seems like it is going to be about how to remove a tumor, this advice seems fairly obvious. After
all, who would fall in love with something as horrible as a tumor? But for Safiya Sinclair, this is the
opening line, the defining line, of this poem and in her poem, How to Excise a Tumor, Safiya Sinclair
uses the speaker s tumor as a symbol for an unwanted child. Through the poetical devices such as
metaphors and imagery, Sinclair weaves a tale of a tumor and its human.
How to Excise a Tumor is a relatively short poem of 27 lines. It details what advice the speaker has to
those who, presumably, have discovered they have a tumor. She, the speaker, gives suggestions and
warnings like don t fall in love with [the tumor] and it will always want more that you can give. This
is good advice to those with literal tumors as well as those whose tumors are a bit more metaphorical,
as is the speaker s tumor. Her tumor is an undesired child, possibly the product of sexual assault. The
speaker says the tumor will move to leech at your nipples, and other parts of you will grow hot to
show how the reader s initial uncaring provisions will turn into warmth and affection for the child. As
the reader s affection grows and the child make[s] a home in the damp chasms of your heart, the
speaker believes you ll begin to see the good in everything, but despite how wonderful that situation
might sound, the speaker lets the readers know otherwise. She again warns the reader that the tumor
will [make] such a mes of your dreams and to not give in to accidental pleasure. All of the speaker s
warnings show that she regrets giving into her tumor and not doing more to get rid of it which creates
a theme of unhappiness.
That theme is further supported by the metaphors scattered throughout How to Excise a Tumor. One
such metaphor is the blind aphid. An aphid is a small bug that feeds destructively on plants and a blind
aphid would be particularly undiscerning. Without sight, the aphid chew[s] straight through the core.
In other words, the aphid or the tumor continues eating and taking until it has destroyed the

Prevention and Control of Nosocomial Infections
Prevention and Control of Nosocomial Infections
A Nosocomial Infection is a very distinct infection that occurs in hospital environments. The work
nosocomial literally means of or relating to a hospital. Also known as hospital acquired infections (or
HAI) these occur in unsanitary or unclean hospital environments and can be contracted by hospital
staff, hospital patients and visitors. Infections can be generally described as bacterial or fungal.
Nosocomial infections will often cause urinary tract infections, and pneumonia among other things
depending on the patient s reaction to the infection.
Many elements go into the cause and spread of nosocomial infections and, according to epidemiologic
research, occur on an international ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gram negative bacteria are completely resistant to antibiotics. These bacteria is a primary threat to
hospital patients with weak immune systems and is less likely to affect staff members.
As for the spread of nosocomial infections, methods include airborne travel, direct person to person
contact, droplets, vermin transmission (or vector borne transmission) and tangible vehicles found in
hospitals. Airborne travel occurs when simple droplet nuclei of microorganisms remain in the air for
extended periods of time. An example would be a sneeze or dust particles. Once these particles are
inhaled by a host the infection can be contracted. Person to person contact is the most frequent
transmission and includes a hand shake, touching, rubbing, patting, etc. Droplets are transmitted
through certain operations involving the mouth, nose or throat, including bronchoscopy as well as
coughing, sneezing and talking. Vermin is also a method of travel for these microorganisms as rats,
roaches, mosquitoes and flies. Lastly, common hospital utilities and equipment, when they are not
properly cleaned, can become a vehicle for contact. These may include medications, hospital devices,
tools and equipment, even water and food.

Godel s Argument For The Existence Of God
Logically, choosing to believe in God is more advantageous than choosing not to. Pascal s wager
illustrates this by reasoning that if one chooses to believe in God and He exists, infinite reward can be
gained; and if he doesn t exist there is nothing to lose. Likewise, if one chooses not to believe in God
and he exists, infinite pain and suffering result; but if he does not exist, there is no loss. Pascal also
claims that avoiding wagering is not optional failure to decide may automatically have the same
results as the wagering against God. Believing in God is more logical in the sense that there is much to
gain and nothing to lose.
Mathematically, there is proof of God s existence. Kurt Godel revolutionized mathematics and the

Depending on the confidence of the contractor on its own estimates and its propensity on risk, a
contractor can slightly raise the unit prices on the underestimated tasks while lowering the unit prices
on other tasks. If the contractor is correct in its assessment, it can increase its profit substantially since
the payment is made on the actual quantities of tasks; and if the reverse is true, it can lose on this
basis.
Negotiated contracts
An owner can enter into contract with a constructor by negotiating the price and method of
reimbursement. This type can during the contract enter into fixed price or unit price contract. * Cost
Plus Fixed Percentage Contract
For certain types of construction involving new technology or extremely pressing needs, the owner is
sometimes forced to assume all risks of cost overruns. The contractor will receive the actual direct job
cost plus a fixed percentage, and have little incentive to reduce job cost. Furthermore, if there are
pressing needs to complete the project, overtime payments to workers are common and will further
increase the job cost. * Cost Plus Fixed Fee/ Variable Percentage Contract
Under this type of contract, the contractor will receive the actual direct job cost plus a fixed fee, and
will have some incentive to complete the job quickly since its fee is fixed regardless

Formulas Vs Calorimetry
Matter can take on different changes physically and chemically, for an example of a physical change is
when water freezes into ice, there is no chemical change to the water but a physical change the ice is
just water molecules made of hydrogen and oxygen packed tightly together. But, another physical
change would be bending iron metal, the iron is still the same chemically whether it is made into I
beams, or pressed into shapes to make the body of a car; the shape may change but it never changes
chemically. In addition, a chemical change is the results in one or more substances that make up an
entirely different composition from the original substances. The compounds and/ or elements at the
start of the chemical reaction are rearranged into a new product of compounds or elements. Also a
chemical reaction alters the composition of the original matter, different elements or compounds are
present at the end of the chemical change. Although an example of a chemical reaction is the process
of rusting, you start with Iron mixed with air and water you get a different compound. Along with
chemical changes the Law of Conservation of Mass plays a part in it too. The Law of Conservation of

Character Analysis Of Tony Kaye s The Night
A tattoo so bold that it stops all in its path, causing controversy throughout the masses, and the
reflection of a shrinking man who sold his soul to the devil. Tony Kaye uses mise en scene to
represent a revelation in both of the brother s lives. Not only do they show remorse but also see self
change from within both characters. In this frame we see Derek coming out of the shower, he has a
towel wrapped around his waist and is looking at his reflection in the mirror. Derek s body is angled
so that his tattoo is being highlighted by the key lighting. In this frame Derek appears to be caught off
guard by the sight of his tattoo, which suggests to us as the audience that he isn t happy with his
former self, unknown to him that his life would change forever. The first of its kind we see Derek in

what Derek is doing, and it seems as if his tattoo is haunting him of his past choices. His tattoo is

The Dangers Of Religious Intolerance
The world can be a dangerous place. It can be even more dangerous if someone proves to be different,
or seen as unusual in any way. Scientology may be one of the strangest religions in the world. Due to
this, Scientology has experienced intolerance since it was first founded in 1954. Religious intolerance
is a social issue, consequently affecting every level of the religious community, from the followers to
the conductors of Scientology. Even though numerous people view Scientology as a cult or fraudulent
religion, or believe that the religion is so small and the beliefs so strange it can simply be written off,
hence the intolerance ignored, Religious intolerance is a problem for Scientology because Only one
side of the argument is broadcasted, so Scientology receives immense amounts of hate, simply due to
the fact they believe differently than many other people. Scientology has responded to biased as well
as intolerant media as a result, their replies have been covered up, or scarcely brought up at all,
Scientologists have also been threatened with violence as well as even received hate mail and death
threats Widespread intolerance has always been a problem for Scientology for multiple reasons as well
as a serious issue which faces all religions of the world. However, the practice became popularized
when monotheistic religions such as Christianity or Judaism became popular. Since Scientology is

Organizational Factors Associated With Collaboration...
The purpose of this submission is to recommend, with supporting rationale, an appropriate
methodology to address the research question (RQ): What does the research evidence suggest are the
organizational factors associated with collaboration within Fortune 500 firms? The reader will first
find the Background that discusses items that should be considered when determining the appropriate
systematic review methodology, then there will be an analysis of the current question using those
considerations. The paper will end with a brief conclusion describing the findings.
Background
The systematic review approach chosen by those conducting a study is based on several dimensions.
These include the researcher s epistemology (Rousseau, Manning, Denyer, 2008, pp. 485 487),
research study purpose (Gough, Oliver, Thomas, 2012, p. 58), primary research question (Gough et
al., 2012, p. 58; Harden Thomas, 2005, p. 266), purpose of the study (Gough et al., 2012, p. 76) and
the type of data available (Gough et al., 2012, p. 55). There is also the consideration of the
stakeholders and anticipated consumer of the report since culture and politics can influence the use of
the evidence that results from systematic reviews.
There are numerous specific systematic review methods described in the literature with each method
having a specific fit for purpose, appropriately considering the purpose of the reviews, the types of
questions to be answered, and evidence available for inclusion in

Using Computers For Optimize Design And New Systems
Using computers to optimize designs and new systems is common so that companies can produce
better products more efficiently. However, the algorithms that are run within the computers to
optimize the designs and systems are usually not optimized because the companies are interested in
the new product or system and less in the software that is used to optimize their new ideas. Is seems
reasonable that if an algorithm can be used to optimize other systems, then it should have the ability to
optimize another algorithm and maybe even itself. Since the computer programs that are used to
implement algorithms are a well defined process with limited and well defined constraints, it would be
logical, that optimization of an algorithm program should be as easy as optimization of a new product
or system. An optimized optimization algorithm should minimize the resources needed to converge on
the solution it is attempting to optimize resulting in faster execution time and utilization of fewer
processing resources such as memory or more capable processor. Optimization of an optimization
algorithm may at times be redundant since the optimization algorithm has already produced a
satisfactory solution for the individual system. However, if the optimized algorithm is general enough
that it can be reused on future systems, then its application becomes beneficial in minimizing future
execution time or resources.
Optimization algorithms are fundamental processes in data analysis, engineering,

comparing this data against each other there is a disproportionate over representation of minorities in
prison when comparing to the United States population. This leads to the sad conclusion that when it
comes to the criminal justice system, race is still a factor in the law. The criminalization minorities

Blacks are seen deviant and seen as the problem minority needed to be taken care of and by

The Home Front Effect in The American Civil War
The Civil War was unlike any other war ever fought in America and had many effects on the home
front for both the North and the South. It is stated to be the first ever total war, which is a war against
not only the civilians but also the armies. The Civil War is also considered the first modern war fought
by the U.S. troops. Lincoln asked volunteers to sign up for only three months. Many people thought
the war wouldn t last long. However, the war continued on for four years. The Union armies had
around 2,500,000 to 2,750,000 men and the Confederate army had approximately 750,000 to

Richmond was later established, which was considered as a hospital center similar to that of

The Juvenile Justice System Is The Primary System Used
The Juvenile Justice System is the primary system used to handle youth who are convicted of criminal
offenses. It is just over 100 years old. Over time it has gone through several changes and its unlikely
to disappear anytime soon. We as Americans are still trying to find different ways to approach juvenile
justice vs. approaching it as adult justice. Throughout most of history, young adults and or children did
not have a separate status between juvenile and adults. Once you reached the ages of 5 or 6, you
became apart of the adult society. There was no separate system for dealing with youth offenders. In
the early 1800s, problems with how to deal with youth offenders began to come about due to society

All juveniles under the age of 16 could be handled by the court. Between 1960s and the 1980s,
attention and speculation began to rise about the concern of the juvenile delinquency and court
system. During this time, this era was characterized by distinctly harsh punishments for youths. They
were also wanting to focus on providing minors with due process and legal counsel in court. Even
though they were trying to provide help to youth offenders, criticism during this time, focused on
racial discrimination, gender disparities and discrimination towards children with mental health
problems or learning disabilities. Through out the years, crime rates rose and the misrepresentation
from the media began around the 1960s and went through the 1980s. Today in America, no population
poses a larger threat to public safety than juvenile offenders. Juvenile justice system deal with three
types of case; Delinquents, status offenders, neglected, abused or dependent youth. Over the years,
many states have established family courts to deal with offenders and cases with the status of neglect.
Throughout the years, there has always been some type of tension between police and young
offenders. In my personal opinion, I think this comes from the music that the youth listens to. Most
state statues provide some guidance for arrest procedures. As an officer, you have the discretion in
deciding when to arrest juvenile offenders.

their appearances. And getting plastic surgery cannot fix all of your problems. Many teens get plastice

Retail Location Strategies
Learning the New Rules for Site Selection Will Keep You Ahead of the Game.
Nationwide, the retail sector enjoyed robust growth during the first half of the decade, due in great
part to the continued expansion of big boxes. The excitement, however, is dying down, as several
category killer retailers experience slowing sales. The once zealous players are becoming more
cautious, and once again the rules of the game are changing for developers and commercial brokers.
New Development Drivers
Traditionally, retail centers have been defined as either regional, community, or neighborhood, with
standard tenants for each of these categories. Recently, though, the lines have blurred, as discount

obsolescence in its new prototype by designing stores that can be converted into multifamily housing

B locations, or those neighborhood centers once anchored by supermarkets, are getting a breath of

In addition, the surviving supermarkets and large discount department stores are anchoring regional

continuing to identify gaps in suburban markets. There are fewer active big box players; therefore,
opportunities for regional mall locations, as they become repositioned, will become more prevalent.

performance for the good of company leaders, employees, and stakeholders. The new CEO will be
evaluated after one year by leaders, employees, and stakeholders.
Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market
Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45 billion a year sector
that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector. The market for ink is dominated by HP,

Julius Meyer Research Paper
Julius Meyer was a German Chemist, born on August 19, 1830. At first he was interested in the
physiological side of science, but then had a change in his mindset and decided to take up Chemistry.
He was one of the first people to work on the Periodic Table, and if it weren t for him, the table would
look nothing like it does today. He published his periodic table in 1870, it was inside of a textbook.
(Grolier Education). Without Julius Meyer, there would be no periodic table as there is today. He was
the human who realized that the properties of an element a part of the periodic table all depended on
the atomic weight, (Chem Heritage). He had some of the very first ideas that led to the first copies of
our periodic table in the 1870 s (Chem Heritage). Julius Lothar Meyer had figured out and organized
28 of the elements back in the 1800 s into six families. He did this by figuring out the physical and
chemical characteristics that were similar to each other in each element. He organized them depending
on the valence of each element. Valence is the number that represents combining power of an atom of
a particular element. Meyer saw that there were some elements missing as he organized them

Bullying And Emotional Abuse Among School Children
Research Summary of Bullying and Emotional Abuse Among School Children
Bullying is a social phenomenon that goes beyond gender, age, and culture. There are wide ranges in
the definition of the term, bullying it is essentially characterized by one or more individuals primarily
to assert control or power. Bullying is a common thing now a day s on school playgrounds,
neighborhood, social media also called cyber bullying , and at homes. Bullying among children brings
a variety of negative acts carried out repeatedly over time. Bullying can take three different forms like,
physical aggression (hitting, punching, pushing, taking personal belongings, etc.), verbal (malicious
tease, name calling, humiliation criticism, etc.), and psychological attacks (rumors, manipulation,
jokes, intimidation, etc.).
When it comes to bullying there are short and long term consequences for both the perpetrator and the
victims. Victims of bullying, experience more physical and psychological problems than their peer
who are not harassed by others. Bullying may also contribute to the development of eating disorders
like anorexia and bulimia nervosa, anxiety, depression, bad grades, and even death. The consequences
for the perpetrator can lead to being expelled from school, suspended from things they like and even
going to jail or prison depending how old they are and the charges the school and parents make to
them. The risk for these negative outcomes is increased if the bullying is severe,

Rent Control Of The United States
Philippe Bouchereau
Prof. Kaycea Campbell
Economics 2
11 May 2016
Rent Control in the United States
Rent control is a law that places a price ceiling on the amount of rent a landlord can charge a tenant.
People from middle and lower income brackets tend to benefit from rent control, while people from
the upper income brackets do not. The whole purpose as to why rent control exists is so that tenants
from the lower income groups are not exploited by greedy landlords through government intervention.
Landlords who own property in expensive cities like San Francisco are not able to charge market rates
of rent as that would displace many poor people. While rent control was created with good intentions
by the government, rent control is overall more harmful to the economy than good. Rent control goes
back to the days of World War I. During the years following the war, the United States was
experiencing a large shortage of housing. John W. Willis, author of the article Short History of Rent
Control Laws wrote, Housing shortages, however, are not new, and it should not be surprising
therefore to find that modern attempts to intervene in the relationship between landlord and tenant find
precedents going back hundreds of years (Willis 54). The war was a reason because the wives of the
soldiers acquired jobs in manufacturing plants, factories, and other places. This caused a surge in
population, which then increased the demand for housing accommodations near places of

Slavery In The English Colonies
The labor system used in the English colonies of North America experienced developmental shifts
from 1607 to 1750 as the institution of slavery became firmly established in law and in society. In
1607, English settlers founded Jamestown, in Virginia. A Dutch ship brought around 20 Africans to the
colony in 1619, where they became indentured servants. Both white English people and Africans
worked as indentured servants during the seventeenth century, though some Africans served for life.
Slavery strengthened as an institution during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and African
slaves became the dominant source of labor. The strengthening of slavery in the English North
American colonies and its development into a powerful institution with criteria for determining the
roles and rights of slaves were caused by the establishment of the status of slaves among whites and
the decline in the popularity of white indentured servants. Policies created by the Virginia General
Assembly contributed to the development of the institution of slavery in its colony by legally
establishing differences between indentured servants and slaves. In 1667, the assembly cleared up
slave owners concerns regarding slave children s status being changed by baptism. They determined
that baptism would not change the condition of slaves and that masters could spread Christianity to
slaves without creating any grounds on which they could be freed. (Document 4). This policy stating

Community Music And Wellness Paper
This phenomenological study explored the wider issues of the effects of music to wellness. Because
Americans are enjoying up to 40 additional years of life (Population Reference Bureau, 2013) many
healthy older adults choose community music participation as an activity. In the current study,
participants were either solo artists or members of small to large ensembles who began music
education in childhood and developed music competencies of advanced, expert, and or virtuoso skills.
Our research shows that music identity determined PMs values and beliefs to maintain their wellness
for community music participation; this compares favorably with Dolfsma (1999). This study agrees
with Hays (2005) in that singing and playing instruments maintains cardiovascular functioning and
several domains of wellness. Likewise, this study agrees with other researchers (Bowers, 1998; Hays
Minichiello, 2005; Joseph Southcott, 2014; Skingley, Martin, Clift, 2015), that music promotes
wellness. Most PMs reported that community music was the reason they enjoyed wellness, which was

Immanuel Kant s Definition Of Ritual Peace
Immanuel Kant gives two definitions of perpetual peace. In his first definition, he states that in order
for perpetual peace to be achieved, the constitution of every state has to be republican. For under a

declare war. Which he believes is good because they need resources which can be expensive.
furthermore, reparation after the war can be costly (pg. 21). His second idea for as to do with states.
He believes the only way for perpetual peace is if a league of nation is created. As he states, Peace
cannot be established or secured except by a compact among nations (pg. 123). He goes on to state

  • 2. Tracking the Ebola Virus These past years I spent my time tracking the virus of Ebola as well as its various strains all over the world. At first I didn t know of the disease, only of the mysterious deaths. I had heard a rumor of a man by the name of Monet who had become mysteriously sick with a disease that none have seen. This information led me to Nairobi, Kenya where the man was supposed to be. When I arrived at Nairobi Hospital I didn t encounter the man of my search. I questioned a nurse, who asked not to be named, and she stated A very sick man named Monet came to the hospital looking very zombie like and died but not before exploding over the waiting room and the doctors and nurses who were operating on him. Also Dr. Musoke was infected and is now unconscious. I then started to search for Dr. Silverstein who had cared for Dr. Musoke. When I found Dr. Silverstein I told him what I why I was there. Though he was reluctant to reveal information, I convinced him to tell me that Dr. Musoke was positive for a virus known as Marburg. Apparently He had never heard of Marburg so I went to investigate. My sources found out that Marburg is an African virus but was first discovered in Marburg, Germany. In 1967 a factory that was working with African green monkeys from Uganda. The virus spread throughout the monkeys causing monkeys to crash and bleed out, and soon after the virus jumped species and infect first a man called Klaus F. The virus spread killing seven of the thirty one people who were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Netball Test Introduction Good Morning/Afternoon Mr/Mrs Flynn, My name is Alex Manley and in this assignment I will be selecting one of the three Fitness tests provided for an elite Netball player and critically evaluating the effectiveness of the Octorepeater Test in targeting the energy fitness demands of a Wing Defence position. I will also propose recommendations to the test to improve the effectiveness of the test to Netball. Energy Demands All three energy systems is important to have in a game of netball. Muscles are also need for all three energy systems in a game of netball. Muscles require energy to work, and all energy is provided by a chemical in our cells called Adesonine Triphosphate (ATP). ATP is only stored to last for a couple of seconds. There are three energy systems which make up of anaerobic and aerobic parts in our body. The anaerobic system is split into 2 energy systems Creatine Phosphate (CP) and Lactic Acid (LA) System. These two systems do not need oxygen as ana means no and aerobic meaning air. The ATP PC (Alactacid) energy system is the predominant engine used by athletes competing in short duration, high intensity power events (Macmilian et el. 2010 pg.109). If we suddenly begin sprinting, the ATP has to resynthesise very quickly. The quickest way is a chemical reaction that uses creatine phosphate (CP) which is found in the muscle cell. There is only enough CP to resynthesise ATP for about 10 seconds. It takes several minutes of rest or low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Challenger And Columbia Shuttle Disasters Essay Portfolio Project: The Challenger and Columbia Shuttle Disasters Introduction While driving frantically through the lush farmland of the Livermore Valley to rescue a 9 year who, along with her classmates had just witnessed the destruction of the Challenger on live television, the question of why was all consuming. Growing up in the sixties and witnessing the moon landing led many to believe NASA was infallible. However, nearly twenty years before Challenger, this proved untrue, as the dangers of space travel were tragically demonstrated when the crew of the Apollo 1 died in an onboard fire during a test run (Howell, 2012). Following the Challenger tragedy, President Reagan (1986, para. 8) stated, We will never forget them, nor the last ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While root cause analysis of both sentinel events revealed mechanical and debris problems as causative factors, the underlying problem was much worse NASA s lax safety oversight and slipshod management. These findings uncovered what dozens, and likely lucky, successful missions had hid from the public. The country mourned the first tragedy, but demanded change, which made the loss of Columbia for similar reasons so stunning. Therefore, much of this paper concentrated on change resistance, as the inability to change organizations is usually attributed to the difficulties in changing people. Despite the distractions, leadership must push through this resistance or risk irrelevance in the marketplace. It is for good reasons, organizations use the lessons of the Challenger and Columbia disasters in all levels of leadership as a warning of the potential for harm when budget constraints, tight schedules, and deadlines allow flawed reasoning and egos to undermine safety and the decision making ... Joint Infringement Defense Paper Federal Circuit Upholds Joint Infringement Defense Recently, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit announced its 2 1 decision in Akamai Techs., Inc. v. Limelight Networks, Inc., upholding the joint infringement defense under which a patent cannot be infringed upon if the infringement relies on two or more parties acting independently. A June 2014 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court in Limelight Networks v. Akamai reversed a 2012 decision by the Federal Circuit that had held Limelight liable for infringing an Akamai patent that covered methods for storing and delivering large files via the Internet. In defending the suit, Akamai alleged that Limelight had induced its customers to infringe its patent by instructing then on how to tag files for delivery. The justices ruled that Limelight couldn t be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Supreme Court struck down this concept of divided infringement, saying that for infringement to apply, all the steps must be performed by a single entity or entities joined together via contract or other arrangements. Applying the June 2014 Supreme Court decision, the Federal Circuit found that Limelight did not control or direct the actions of its clients. • 7. The Paintings of Romantic Period The Romantic Period, characterized by new ideas in Western art, literature and music, lasted from the end of the eighteenth century to the mid nineteenth century. Romantic artists eschewed Neoclassical history painting to focus on imaginary and exotic subjects, as well as nature. The poet and critic Charles Baudelaire wrote in 1846, Romanticism is precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor in exact truth, but in a way of feeling (Galitz 2004). The Romantic movement was shaped by political, philosophical, social and artistic movements and embraced passionately in France, Germany, Switzerland, Britain and North America (Farthing, 2010, p. 266). In each country, artists expressed the movement in characteristic ways. French painters sought to capture both reality and the exotic. In The Raft of the Medusa, for example, Thà odore Gà ricault recreated an emotional and horrifying shipwreck scene that occurred three years earlier. He employed the classical pyramid composition and created emotion by contrasting pale, lifeless figures with dark, swirling waters and an ominous sky. The painting caused a scandal when it was unveiled at the Paris Salon in 1819 because it depicted a terrible accident the public sought to forget. Survivors had turned to cannibalism and many went mad. The ship that rescued the survivors, the Argus, is seen in the background of the painting, which can be construed as a criticism of the government for not dispatching the rescue ship in time ... • 8. The Debate Over Concealed Weapons Essay In 2007 an armed student killed 32 people at Virginia Tech, making it one of the deadliest gun massacres in U.S history. As a result, a group known as Students for Concealed Carry on Campus began a movement to legalize campus carry for colleges in the U.S. Lawmakers then put in place laws that would allow students and faculty to carry weapons to better defend themselves (The Secret History of the Campus Carry Movement). As of 2016 Texas became the ninth state to allow concealed carry on public universities for holders of gun permits. Nevertheless, the debate over whether to allow concealed weapons in schools remains a hot topic in our political society. Although the different viewpoints of the new law are evident, the major similarity is the safety of the student body. There exists two sides for concealed weapons on college campuses in the state of Texas. The side that believes students are safer by carrying a concealed weapon, and the side that believes the contrary and says that weapons should not be allowed on school premises. Regulations vary from state to state; 18 states have banned concealed weapons on college campuses and 23 states allow each school to determine its own policies (Campus Carry). Even after the Virginia shooting, the movement did not echo with all Americans. With the increased shootings at schools, it can be difficult it can be very difficult for colleges to guarantee the safety of each student. Law makers feel that the new law will help colleges and ... Charles Dickens Stylistic Devices Essay Course Tutor Date Charles Dickens and the making of the modern age Charles Dickens has used various stylistic devices in his literary works that he did between the year 1812 1870. He employed different styles just like any other author to make his point out using changing styles in literature. Most of the imagery and characters in his writings cannot be taken to be literal since they had some hidden meaning in them. He employed the dramatic technique in his novels, which took a form of more of cinema than pure theater like most of the literature works. There are a lot of dramatic picture scenes which ring into our minds when we study his novels like the Fagin s den in the novel of Oliver Twist. These dramatic pictures convey meanings in themselves in this literature. There is also a gradual change in the style that Dickens employ in his works like changes in pronominal reference, elaboration, and nominalisation. • 10. To The Lighthous Feminism By Virginia Woolf Prior to the 19th century women were regarded intellectually and physically inadequate. According to that believe, society was divided into two spheres: a domestic and a public sphere. The domestic or private sphere indicates that women should stay at home; they were not allowed to work or to learn. Besides that, part of their job is to prepare the next generation or carry on the same way of life. On the other hand, the public sphere indicated that men are strong mentally and physically. They were the doers, creators, heroes and the discoverers. That formula of dividing the world into two was against human nature which led to the emergence of several feminists groups demanding solutions to the women cause. The First Feminism Wave took place during the nineteenth century and early twentieth century, in which Virginia Woolf s representation was noticeable. The goal of this movement was clearly to defend women s right to vote. The activism of that campaign called it suffrage movement . • 11. Excise A Tumor Poem Analysis The first line in How to Excise a Tumor is don t fall in love with it, whatever you do, and given this poem seems like it is going to be about how to remove a tumor, this advice seems fairly obvious. After all, who would fall in love with something as horrible as a tumor? But for Safiya Sinclair, this is the opening line, the defining line, of this poem and in her poem, How to Excise a Tumor, Safiya Sinclair uses the speaker s tumor as a symbol for an unwanted child. Through the poetical devices such as metaphors and imagery, Sinclair weaves a tale of a tumor and its human. How to Excise a Tumor is a relatively short poem of 27 lines. It details what advice the speaker has to those who, presumably, have discovered they have a tumor. She, the speaker, gives suggestions and warnings like don t fall in love with [the tumor] and it will always want more that you can give. This is good advice to those with literal tumors as well as those whose tumors are a bit more metaphorical, as is the speaker s tumor. Her tumor is an undesired child, possibly the product of sexual assault. The speaker says the tumor will move to leech at your nipples, and other parts of you will grow hot to show how the reader s initial uncaring provisions will turn into warmth and affection for the child. As the reader s affection grows and the child make[s] a home in the damp chasms of your heart, the speaker believes you ll begin to see the good in everything, but despite how wonderful that situation might sound, the speaker lets the readers know otherwise. She again warns the reader that the tumor will [make] such a mes of your dreams and to not give in to accidental pleasure. All of the speaker s warnings show that she regrets giving into her tumor and not doing more to get rid of it which creates a theme of unhappiness. That theme is further supported by the metaphors scattered throughout How to Excise a Tumor. One such metaphor is the blind aphid. An aphid is a small bug that feeds destructively on plants and a blind aphid would be particularly undiscerning. Without sight, the aphid chew[s] straight through the core. Airborne travel occurs when simple droplet nuclei of microorganisms remain in the air for extended periods of time. An example would be a sneeze or dust particles. Once these particles are inhaled by a host the infection can be contracted. Person to person contact is the most frequent transmission and includes a hand shake, touching, rubbing, patting, etc. Droplets are transmitted through certain operations involving the mouth, nose or throat, including bronchoscopy as well as coughing, sneezing and talking. Likewise, if one chooses not to believe in God and he exists, infinite pain and suffering result; but if he does not exist, there is no loss. However, the algorithms that are run within the computers to optimize the designs and systems are usually not optimized because the companies are interested in the new product or system and less in the software that is used to optimize their new ideas. Is seems reasonable that if an algorithm can be used to optimize other systems, then it should have the ability to optimize another algorithm and maybe even itself. Since the computer programs that are used to implement algorithms are a well defined process with limited and well defined constraints, it would be logical, that optimization of an algorithm program should be as easy as optimization of a new product or system. An optimized optimization algorithm should minimize the resources needed to converge on the solution it is attempting to optimize resulting in faster execution time and utilization of fewer processing resources such as memory or more capable processor. Optimization of an optimization algorithm may at times be redundant since the optimization algorithm has already produced a satisfactory solution for the individual system. However, if the optimized algorithm is general enough that it can be reused on future systems, then its application becomes beneficial in minimizing future execution time or resources. But according to the opposing article www.platicsurgeons.com if patients go through the procedure the affects will be long term and you will get what you want. In my opinion with dangerous risks including losing your life it isn t worth it. Plastic surgery may raise self esteem, but often does not. Many teens don t realize even the most beautiful people, including celebrities, are insecure about their appearances. And getting plastic surgery cannot fix all of your problems. Many teens get plastice surgery for unrealistic reason, such as to fit in with other peers or to keep up with lastest celebrities, or to attempt to improve their physical appearance as said in the article www.wtvq.com/health the media is the main influence that is at fault. There are all sorts of things that require maturity and judgment. According to the Wikipedia Encyclopedia the frontal lobe of the brain does not fully develop until the 20s to 30s. That portion of the brain controls decision making, and understanding consequences. This is another reason why teenagers should not have plastic surgery. Therefore teenagers should not undergo the plastic surgery when you are young and surgeon should not touch the body that is not yet fully grown. There are many examples that, someone is trying to help the others and end up losing their life. Nationwide, the retail sector enjoyed robust growth during the first half of the decade, due in great part to the continued expansion of big boxes. The excitement, however, is dying down, as several category killer retailers experience slowing sales. The once zealous players are becoming more cautious, and once again the rules of the game are changing for developers and commercial brokers. Communities with enterprise zones and other economic incentives are getting a second chance as retailers rediscover downtown in more affluent markets. A shining example is the Circle Centre redevelopment in Indianapolis. Eastman Kodak has been the leader of photography and printing products for nearly 130 years. Over the last few years Kodak has been in distress due to its poor fundamental shift into the digital age. Lack of strategic creativity led Kodak to misunderstand the industry in which it was operating. This lack of strategic creativity was costly for Kodak. The new CEO will be evaluated after one year by leaders, employees, and stakeholders. Option 2: Enter into a new aggressive market Kodak currently has no position within the ink market. The ink business is a $45 billion a year sector that could regenerate Kodak s position in the printing sector. The market for ink is dominated by HP, followed by Epson, Canon, and Lexmark. Entering a complete new market may be beneficial in its current position. According to Kodak, the greatest obstacle to printing at home is the cost of ink and supplies. He published his periodic table in 1870, it was inside of a textbook. (Grolier Education). Without Julius Meyer, there would be no periodic table as there is today. He was the human who realized that the properties of an element a part of the periodic table all depended on the atomic weight, (Chem Heritage). He had some of the very first ideas that led to the first copies of our periodic table in the 1870 s (Chem Heritage). Julius Lothar Meyer had figured out and organized 28 of the elements back in the 1800 s into six families. He did this by figuring out the physical and chemical characteristics that were similar to each other in each element. He organized them depending on the valence of each element. • 37. Rent Control Of The United States Philippe Bouchereau Prof. Kaycea Campbell Economics 2 11 May 2016 Rent Control in the United States Rent control is a law that places a price ceiling on the amount of rent a landlord can charge a tenant. People from middle and lower income brackets tend to benefit from rent control, while people from the upper income brackets do not. The whole purpose as to why rent control exists is so that tenants from the lower income groups are not exploited by greedy landlords through government intervention. Landlords who own property in expensive cities like San Francisco are not able to charge market rates of rent as that would displace many poor people. While rent control was created with good intentions by the government, rent control is overall more harmful to the economy than good. Rent control goes back to the days of World War I. During the years following the war, the United States was experiencing a large shortage of housing. John W. Willis, author of the article Short History of Rent Control Laws wrote, Housing shortages, however, are not new, and it should not be surprising therefore to find that modern attempts to intervene in the relationship between landlord and tenant find precedents going back hundreds of years (Willis 54). The war was a reason because the wives of the soldiers acquired jobs in manufacturing plants, factories, and other places. • 38. Slavery In The English Colonies The labor system used in the English colonies of North America experienced developmental shifts from 1607 to 1750 as the institution of slavery became firmly established in law and in society. In 1607, English settlers founded Jamestown, in Virginia. A Dutch ship brought around 20 Africans to the colony in 1619, where they became indentured servants. Both white English people and Africans worked as indentured servants during the seventeenth century, though some Africans served for life. Slavery strengthened as an institution during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and African slaves became the dominant source of labor. The strengthening of slavery in the English North American colonies and its development into a powerful institution with criteria for determining the roles and rights of slaves were caused by the establishment of the status of slaves among whites and the decline in the popularity of white indentured servants. Policies created by the Virginia General Assembly contributed to the development of the institution of slavery in its colony by legally establishing differences between indentured servants and slaves. In 1667, the assembly cleared up slave owners concerns regarding slave children s status being changed by baptism. They determined that baptism would not change the condition of slaves and that masters could spread Christianity to slaves without creating any grounds on which they could be freed. (Document 4). • 39. Community Music And Wellness Paper This phenomenological study explored the wider issues of the effects of music to wellness. Because Americans are enjoying up to 40 additional years of life (Population Reference Bureau, 2013) many healthy older adults choose community music participation as an activity. In the current study, participants were either solo artists or members of small to large ensembles who began music education in childhood and developed music competencies of advanced, expert, and or virtuoso skills. Our research shows that music identity determined PMs values and beliefs to maintain their wellness for community music participation; this compares favorably with Dolfsma (1999). This study agrees with Hays (2005) in that singing and playing instruments maintains cardiovascular functioning and several domains of wellness. Likewise, this study agrees with other researchers (Bowers, 1998; Hays Minichiello, 2005; Joseph Southcott, 2014; Skingley, Martin, Clift, 2015), that music promotes wellness. Most PMs reported that community music was the reason they enjoyed wellness, which was a core priority to sustaining their participation in community music.
