For decades, the exact reasons for which the many citizens of Salem Massachusetts were accused of
witchcraft remain unclear. Furthermore, the strange events and symptoms that the people documented

relatively brief span of time, more than 200 people were accused of witchcraft, and 20 were executed.
The people of Salem were puritans, a religious group that splintered off of the catholic church
following Martin Luther s post of the 95 theses. The people of the town would claim that those
accused were bewitched and under the influence of an Evil Hand . Of the many accused, 19 were
women, all of which were hanged. The twentieth was the husband of one of the convicted witches.

The lesson I recorded was for a math support class for twelve students. In this lesson, I am reviewing
with the meaning of slope, how to find slope, and where it is written in a linear equation. The students
were then able to practice individually with a card sort for different points.
This was one of the first lessons I taught to these students, so I made sure to ask them questions to get
a grasp of their prior knowledge of slope. I liked how the question What is slope? had a variety of
answers that I could build off of. When a student answered y intercept , I used what she could
remember from a relating factor of the slope and connected it to the equation. The discussion we had
at the start of lesson was extremely vital for these students because many of them have retention
issues. By watching the video, I noticed how a lot of the talking was whole class. I wonder if I would
have gotten more response and connection if students had the opportunity to talk to a partner first.
When students start showing me their answers, for one student I replied with feedback of having the
correct numbers, but the wrong order. I like how that provided immediate and specific feedback for

There is no peace without forgiveness, a quote from Marianne Williamson. The short story, The
Seventh Man by Haruki Murakami tells the story of the seventh man, who as a young child lost a
friend to a large wave caused by a hurricane. He blames himself for K. s death and it haunts him in the
form of night terrors for many years. The seventh man eventually forgives himself, as he should.
Although, some believe the narrator shouldn t forgive himself as they see him as guilty. Simplistically,
this isn t accurate, and it s as plain as day to see when the following are taken into consideration;
intention, situation, and response. To start off, the seventh man s intention plays a huge deciding factor
in if he was guilty of, objectively speaking, killing, or causing the death of, K. and consequently if he
should forgive himself or not. Take The Scarlet Ibis for example, a short story by James Hurst. The
brother talks about his want to kill his crippled brother Doodle from the very beginning and from then
on he does nothing but harm, manipulate, and push Doodle for years until he ultimately dies from the
overexertion his brother forced upon him. In contrast, for as long as the Seventh Man knew K. they
were close, and the seventh man looked out for and loved K. like a brother. Pertaining to his death, the
seventh man had no control over the wave(s) and he in no way deliberately decided to not save K.. He
simply was unable to. The seventh man never intended to hurt K., muchless cause his death, which
whether or not he caused it or not is arguable in and of itself, being a prime reason of why he should
forgive himself. On the contrary, some may say that the the seventh man shouldn t forgive himself as
he is responsible for K. s death. The evidence that supports this claim is on page 138 as it reads, I told
myself to run over to K., grab hold of him, and get out of there. The explanation of the quote,
forthrightly, being that the narrator could ve saved K. but he chose not too. This leads to two main
