Italian Neorealism Genre
During World War II many films in Italy the Italian community created a new type of genre for that
specific decade called Italian Neorealism. The Neorealism genre was a style of film characterized by
stories done by the poor and working class. These movies were typically filmed on location meaning
not in a studio but rather at a real place and used nonprofessional actors. The films themselves
contended with the difficulty of life post World War II. The early films were about social issues and
war. Director Roberto Rossellini s created a movie during the Neorealist time called Rome Open City
which was released in 1945. The movie shows a deeply moving portrait of Rome during the last
couple years of the war, with Germany occupying the city and Allied forces slowly closing in. The
film was made on whatever film stock Rossellini could gather up in the post war Italian economy. It
was shot in the streets of Rome with a kind of documentary realism that would show an even greater
impact to this story.
Rome Open City for me personally was a very amusing movie to watch because I ve never watched a
foreign movie before and it was something different to see especially back in 1945 when the war was
going on. For me it s incredible how this movie did so well during a time of tragedy and yet movies
here not in the US can t even get a decent rating. I did on the other hand have a bit of a hard time
following the movie because the lyrics that were given to the movie in english weren t that amazing I
feel like if I spoke Italian or if it was remastered into a english film then i d love it even more. The
film was divided into two parts. The first half focused on the daily lives of the resistance fighters
living in Rome. Francesco works for a communist newspaper, he also helps a group of militant anti
Nazi fighters, led by his friend Giorgio. Francesco s fiancée, the Pina is involved in the struggle as
well she helps create riots against the shops that control food rations and keep the people of the city
from getting enough to eat. One of the major things I loved about this film was how Rossellini
balances the film s darker moments with surprising humorous touches, especially when using the
priest Don Pietro. The Part that

Essay on Exploring the Existence of Paranormal Activity
Whether we choose to believe in the paranormal or not, we all have to realize that there are many
strange things that happen to all of us that are unexplainable. The history of paranormal existence has
been around since the beginning of time. The paranormal is not what most people believe it is, ghosts .
There is a wide range in what is considered paranormal. In order to understand the paranormal you
must first understand the meaning of the word. The prefix Para means beyond and normal. This gets
you the result of beyond normal. Just because science cannot prove it, does not mean that it is
paranormal. In fact, as you read on you will discover that science does back up paranormal existence
quite a bit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not to say that they are not signs of spirits, because an orb is a manifested sphere of energy.
Sometimes they are visible by the human eye but most of the time they are only viewable through
photographic lenses. Energy is plain and simple, energy everything you see and touch has energy in it
no matter what it is. Take the elements for example. Earth, wind, water, and fire. These elements have
mass amounts of energy that some people attempt to harness for their own good. Such as making a
Psy ball in the palm of their hand. Psy pronounced sigh is the act of making an orb in your hand. It s
not evil or fake. I have read many cases of this event. There are people that practice pyrokinesis and it
is not the Hollywood classic of people making huge balls of fire and throwing them at things burning
them to the ground. It is more or less drawing the energy from the fire and using it whether it be to
create a psy ball or to get in touch with yourself. You can find energy in music. Have you ever
witnessed somebody playing an instrument closing their eyes and enjoying it to the fullest? I know it
happens to me all the time. I feel at one with the guitar. Just feeling the vibrations from the wood go
from your fingertips up to your arm and throughout your body. Next time you are watching somebody
who takes great passion in their music, watch what they do and how they act. You might just

The City Of The Aztec Empire
When thinking of ancient, urban centers many think of ancient capitals such as Rome, Athens, or
Cairo. However, across the Atlantic Ocean in Central and South America, there were a number of
growing urban centers being built by the Aztec, Mayan, and Incan civilizations. An example of a
Central American urban center is Tenochtitlan. Tenochtitlan was the capital of the ancient Aztec
capital which is located in present day Mexico City, Mexico. The development of this ancient city was
dependent on three important factors: favorable ecology, advancing technology, and social
organization. With these three preconditions, the growth of Tenochtitlan as a major urban center and as
the capital of the Aztec s civilization was able to flourish.
Similarly to modern day real estate, location played a detrimental role in determining whether or not
an urban center could truly develop and flourish. A location with favorable ecology allows for
resources such as agriculture to be produced near or within the city. However, agriculture is not the
only element of ecology that allows for a city to develop. Other ecological elements such as rivers,
lakes, elevation, mineral resource, and building materials are important in determining whether or not
a location has favorable ecology (28). Tenochtitlan is often compared to Europe s Venice due to its
structure and location within the Valley of Mexico. The landscape of the Valley of Mexico consisted of
multiple lakes and resembled a water filled

Napoleon Bonaparte And George Washington
In the middle of three significant historical events, we find two notable men, Napoleon Bonaparte, and
George Washington. The U.S American Revolution, 1775 1783(History Online) the end of the French
Revolution, 1789 1799 the commencement of the Napoleonic Era, 1804 1815(Bonjour la France).
Two Revolutions, two Generals, on two Continents. Bonaparte and Washington fought for equality,
freedom, and fraternity for their homelands. This essay will compare and contrast Napoleon Bonaparte
and George Washington by their education, most significant battle, and achievements.
The question is, was Napoleon Bonaparte a dictator, or one of the most remarkable military strategist?
Opinions are diverse about the man who crowned himself as an Emperor. In fact, this explains
Napoleon s words when he said: Circumstances what are circumstances? I make circumstances
(Biography/Online). On the other hand, George Washington the Commander in Chief of the
Continental Army was the first President of the United States of America (The White House), who
said, If we mean to support the liberty and independence which have cost us so much blood and
treasure to establish, we must drive far away the demon of party spirit and local reproach George
Washington. (Forbes/Online).
While Napoleon was a man of a short stature, contradictory, exalted mind, extroverted and intelligent,
he also had the gift of talent, and charisma to convince and lead the audiences. He was also an

On the other hand, Sharot et al carried out a study that supported this theory in 2007. The aim was to
determine the role of biological factors on flashbulb memories three years after the 911 attacks. It
included 24 participants who were in New York City on that day. Their brain activity was observed
using functional magnetic resonance imaging as they recalled the event, as well as other distinct,
autobiographical events from the summer of 2001. The latter served as baseline memories for
evaluating the nature of 9/11 memories. After the fmri, participants were asked to rate their memories

Should Contact Sports Be Banned Essay
Jenna Gregory Mrs. King ELA 6th Hour 07 April 2017 Contact Sports Contact sports are very healthy
for the human body, this is because of all the physical activity that is taking place. Not only are contact
sports healthy physically but they are also healthy mentally. Contact sports should not be banned from
schools because they relieve stress and anger. My first reason that contact sports should not be banned
is because a lot of people love playing and being a part of this sort of activity. Other reasons are that
they want to be active and healthy. According to Brian Cammarota, a physical therapist at Penn

They will stay active, strong, and healthy. To go along with all of this, an anonymous author from the

Vibrio Research Paper
Vibrio
Vibrio is a rod shaped bacteria that are also gram negative. They naturally appear in marine or
estuarine environments. Also to note there are around about 12 species vibrio that have been known to
cause diseases in humans which cause around about an estimated 80,000 illnesses, 500
hospitalizations and 100 deaths ever year in the US. The main reason that people get infected by vibrio
is from coming into contact with seawater or through consuming raw or undercooked seafood.
Vibriosis usually causes primary septicaemia (blood poisoning), diarrhoea, wound infections, or other
extra intestinal infections. Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a strain of vibrio that has a rod shaped is usually

Lister s first started to realise where the cause of infection came from was when he was comparing
different patient s compound fractures and normal fractures. Most simple fractures did not have a
wound which penetrated the skin so it not has contact with the outside air. Patients which had these
kind of fractures bones where set and placed in a cast and they had a very high recovery rate. A
compound fracture is when the bone penetrates through the skin when a fracture occurs and so comes
into contact with the air. Usually over 50% of these patients died in the recovery stage. Lister then
went on to work out that somehow the infections that are causing people to die must be entering
wounds from the

Van De Walle, Karp, And Bay-Williams
Van De Walle, Karp, Bay Williams (2013) describe the importance of using visual representations
such as Area, length and Set models to consolidate fractional concepts. Observations of students
representing fractions through the use of the three models allows teachers to gauge if learners have a
real understanding of the fraction concepts. Area models represent fractions as part of an area. Circular
or rectangular pieces, grids or dot paper, pattern blocks, geoboards and paper folding are examples of
this type of model (Van De Walle, Karp Bay Williams 2013, p. 293). Length or number line models

Learners may also have difficulty in understanding that a fraction of a group can be found when more
than one object is represented, two fractions can be equivalent even with different denominators and
that objects that are not the same shape can still be the same fraction. In terms of comparison students
may have difficulty in comparing bigger fractions to smaller ones and in associating the size of the
fraction to the size of the whole. Furthermore students may have difficulty is grasping all of the
representations of fractions and the concept associated with fractions greater than one.
Van De Walle, Karp, Bay Williams (2013) discuss the importance of Iterating and partitioning in
building conceptual understanding of fractions and the way they assist students to understand the
meaning of fractions, particularly numerators and denominators and the relationship between the part
and the whole. Partitioning involves sectioning shapes into equal sized parts. Area, length and set
models are particularly useful in partitioning. Iterating involves counting fractional parts and assists
students to understand the relationship between the parts and the whole or the numerator and the
denominator (pg 355). Although Iterating applies to all of the models it is mostly connected with
length models as

Disaster termed as a serious disruption of the functioning of society, causing widespread human,
material or environmental losses which exceed the ability of the affected society to cope using its own
resources.
Disasters are not totally discrete events. Their possibility of occurrence, time, place and severity of the
strike can be reasonably and in some cases accurately predicted by technological and scientific
advances. It has been established there is a definite pattern in their occurrences and hence we can to
some extent reduce the impact of damage though we cannot reduce the extent of damage itself
Generally, disaster has the following effects in the concerned areas,
1. It completely disrupts the normal day to day life
2. It negatively influences the emergency systems
3. Normal needs and processes like food, shelter, health, etc. are affected and deteriorate depending on
the intensity and severity of the disaster.
The development of disaster recovery plans,( for minimizing the risk of disasters and for handling
them when they do occur,) and the implementation of such plans. Disaster management usually refers
to the management of natural catastrophes such as fire, flooding, or earthquakes. Related techniques
include crisis management, contingency management, and risk management.
Disaster/emergency management is the discipline of dealing with and avoiding risks. It involves
preparing for a disaster before it happens, disaster response (e.g.

Informative Essay On Mars
Would you leave everything and everyone you know for a once in a lifetime opportunity? Would you
go to Mars to start a new life, help a new society began? You would never be able to go home to your
family and friends. Before you decide please read the information down below.
Some facts about Mars and about the trip to Mars are, Mars has a diameter of 4220 miles or 6792
kilometers, which is half the size of earth or twice the size of earth s moon. The density of Mars is 3.9
g/cm3 which is about 71% as dense as earth. The orbit of Mars is 142,000,000 miles from the sun. The
mass of Mars is 642 sextillion kilograms. One day in mars last approximately 24 hours and 40 minutes
as opposed to earth that has only 24 hours on one day. A year in mars is almost twice as long as one on
earth, therefore the seasons on Mars must last longer than the ones on earth.

The Commercial Airline Industry Has Witnessed A Steady...
After a century of perpetual development [1], the commercial airline industry has witnessed a steady
increase in airplane passenger capacity [2]. The industry itself is a notable economic force, from the
perspectives of both operations and its impacts on relevant industries such as aircraft construction and
tourism [3]. Different scales of wealth has led to market segmentations between airline companies
with dissimilar objectives and consumer focus: premium airlines like Singapore Airlines offering top
notch service, comfort, and quality at a higher price whilst low cost airlines such as easyJet are
catering to consumers that prefer economical flights.
Nevertheless, despite contrasting consumer targets, an underlying system is needed by airlines to run
functionally. This primary system comprises principal inputs like airplanes, crews (pilots, flight
attendants, ground staffs, etc) and data (airline s website, check in counters, etc), inputs are the
components that are being utilised during the process of creating the product or good [31]. It also
comprises principal output which is the customers mainly, the passengers on the airplane.
Competitive priorities are defined as the dimensions that a business s production system must possess
to support the demands of the markets in which the business wishes to compete [4]. Undoubtedly,
EasyJet s most imperative competitive priorities are its punctuality of flights, emphasis on safety
measures, and the low fares for its

Essay On The Restoration Period
The period from 1660 to 1700 is known as the Restoration period. It was a period when King Charles
II of England marked the beginning of a new era both in social life and the literature of England upon
his return from exile. He revived a theatrical genre known as Comedies of Manners which was lewd
and hilarious. The Way of the world depicts real picture of the restoration period connected to amoral
and exploitative manners of the people. Therefore, this essay will be analyzed based on how the play
acts as a social mirror of the restoration period in England during Congreve s time. First of all, the
play is a dramatic representation of varieties of love that prevailed in England during the restoration
period. Marriage was just a mere game of love. There were betrayals on marriage without love yet the
fake relation continued for various reasons. Mirabell, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Theme Of Power In King Lear
King Lear , a play by Shakespeare tells us how kingship and power or the loss of power are expressed.
Lear, king of Britain decides to retire and shares his kingdom between his daughters; he later
discovers what it is like to lose the power and authority that came with responsibilities. In the play,
power is related to flattery, appearance and anger.
In act 1, scene 1, Lear says that Meantime [he] shall express [his] darker purpose (1,1,36). The
expression darker purpose tells us that there is a secret and a tragedy that is about to be revealed. The
power that Lear gives to Gonerill and Regan makes them deceitful. He offers his kingdom to them but
in return they must tell him how much they love him which of you shall we say doth love us most, that
we our largest bounty may extend . (1, 1,56 57). Lear gives an opportunity for his daughters to take
advantage of him. Gonerill loves [him] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, Lear goes mad and tells Gloucester that even a dog gets obeyed by people who have to obey
him and that appearance, authority and power all lead to corruption. He compares himself to the poor
when he says that only the poor without power gets into justice and that the society always obeys
power even if it is not justified. Even though Lear loses his senses, Edgar still finds out that he has got
a point which seems to be reasonable.
To conclude, King Lear portrays power as the ability to manipulate and control whatever one desires;
power corrupts Gonerill, Regan and Edmund. When one has all the power he desires, deceit is usually
the path he takes. Lear appears as an actor with no role to play and realizes this in scene 4, when he
cries why, this is not Lear and later says who is it that can tell me who I am? . Here, Lear seems to be
stranded in his role as King , unable to act in any other manner and powerless which finally causes the
downfall of his

Volkswagen Group s Star Premium Execution Players
Porsche and Bentley, two of the Volkswagen Group s star premium execution players and now situated
to share propelled innovations, are setting out toward unadulterated electric creation models, each
focusing on 500 km (310 mi) range, tremendous increasing speed ability, and 15 20 min 800 V battery

In a noteworthy proclamation, Porsche Chairman Dr. Oliver Blume has affirmed that its Mission E
idea seen at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show will be underway by around 2020, and Bentley Director
Kevin Rose told Automotive Engineering that the two seat Bentley EXP10 Speed 6 idea, which looks
set to wind up a generation reality, might be offered with an unadulterated electric powertrain as an
alternative.
Other Bentley models may likewise be accessible in immaculate electric structure. There are parts of
all electric innovation that are extremely Bentley, including calm running, easy speeding up, and
practically moment high torque conveyance, said Rose. These advantages would be conveyed by
means of all wheel drive as they are on the Mission E.
With the conceivable special case of calm, this is the parallel intuition at Stuttgart Zuffenhausen,
where Porsche has declared a €700 million spend on generation offices that will incorporate
production of electric engines.

Assata Shakur Response Paper
Assata Shakur has the most direct commentary out of all of the activists that we have
discussed. One can sense her urgency for the unity of black people and how her past experiences
shaped her into the person she is today. In Assata: An Autobiography, some of her most
intriguing comments were the comments about self hatred in the black community. She is
adamant about addressing and fixing the self hate among black people. However, though
attempts have been made by organizations such as the BPP, activists like Malcolm X, and an
array of others to spread African American pride, the self hate and jokes continue even today.

For instance, her involvement
with the Republic of New Afrika, and her violent mentality was a bit too extreme for me.
However, analyzing Shakur made me realize that there was a difference among the activists from
the 19th and early 20th century and the ones from the mid 20th century. Compared to the older
activists we have discussed, there seems to be a push for self worth, not just how to achieve
equal rights or make whites accept black people. Malcolm X pushes for this belief in self worth
and unity among black people as well.3 This becomes important in my opinion because black
people have struggled for centuries attempting to gain equality and during its duration have
naturally endured identity issues. I feel that W.E.B Du Bois idea of double consciousness comes
into play here. His idea that African Americans have basically two identities or thought
processes, one being Black and the other being American or through the eyes of white people
could have possibly created divisions among blacks, causing some to despise themselves. 4
What intrigues me most about not only Assata Shakur, but even Martin Luther King and
Malcolm X, is that there seems to be a move from just equality, but to equality and love. While
each of the three activists expresses their ideas of what love means

The Death Of Ivan Ilych By Leo Tolstoy
In The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy, he shows how the majority of society is selfish. Tolstoy
suggests how even though there is so much selfishness in society, there are some exceptional people
who do not follow social conventions and are the prime example of how people in a society should be.
This paper will argue that being selfless is important in society and that people should deviate from
individualistic behavior and concentrate more on the collective behavior. Through this careful
examination it will be revealed that although a person should think about how to advance themselves
in the social hierarchy, it cannot be their only goal and people need to combine it with it a more
humanistic goal as well. According to Tolstoy, society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He introduces the character as Gerasim, the butler s assistant. He is content with the little that that he
has. He is the only one in the story who believes that death will come to everyone. Other people in
society think that death only comes to other people and will not come to them. This is exemplified by
Peter, who feels that this had happened to Ivan Ilych and not to him, and that it should not and could
not happen to him... began to ask with interest about the details of Ivan Ilych s death, as though death
was an accident natural to Ivan Ilych but certainly not to himself (Tolstoy 9). Through the thought
process of Peter, Tolstoy shows how society views death. Gerasim is also the only one in the story
who shows empathy towards Ivan Ilych. He cares about other people. He doesn t feel that helping Ivan
is a burden, but more as a way of soothing a dying man. As Ivan observed, He saw that no one felt for
him, because no one even wished to grasp his position. Only Gerasim recognized it and pitied him.
And so Ivan Ilych felt at ease only with him. He felt comforted when Gerasim supported his legs
(sometimes all night long) Tolstoy( 42). This illustrates how Gerasim didn t mind his own
inconvenience for the comfort of his master. Tolstoy portrays how most people in society have a lot
more financial and social status, but they are missing the essential meaning of life. However, even
though Gerasim lacks these advantages that other people have, he is the one who is the happiest. This
is because he has all the components; selflessness, love for everyone, and a strong sense of empathy
which makes up a meaningful

accurately interpreting their wishes. Third, she believes that regardless of his political standing, her
brother deserves a proper burial. Lastly, she says that she must try to bury Polynices, because it is in

I do not think Creon is being unjust. Antigone admits that she knew of the decree, and was fully aware

Bethesda, Maryland Is The Headquarters Of Marriott...
Bethesda, Maryland is the headquarters of Marriott International Incorporate. This unique
organization transpired from a root beer stand in 1927 into a world renowned hospitality hotel chain in
1957. Information provided will focus on the evolution of the root beer stand into the Marriott
International Incorporate vast hospitality empire. Today, the Marriott hospitality industry has 5,756
hotels with 30 brands in 118 countries with 1.1 million rooms. Additionally, the Marriott generated
$14 billion in revenue during 2016 and had over 85 million combined loyalty members between the

Actions through the corporate social responsibilities subsequently enhance the Marriott brand. This
evolutionary hospitality organization, grows and developed different brands to accommodate
customers increasing demands through visionary thinking.
Organization Overview J. Willard Marriott and Alice, his wife, started their entrepreneurship in 1927
by opening an A W root beer stand with nine seats in Washington D.C. (Marriott, 2017). Seizing an
opportunity, the Marriott s decided to diversify the A W root beer menu by incorporating hot food
items, thus creating Hot Shoppes. When the business strategy called for expansion in 1928, two
additional Hot Shoppes opened creating the first East Coast drive in (Marriott, 2017). Concentrating
on other areas of development, Hot Shoppes delivered boxed lunches to the Hoover Airport in
Washington D.C. in 1937. During the mid 1960s, Hot Shoppes reached its pinnacle with
approximately 75 stores in roughly a dozen states (Ambrose, 1999). Changing times caused the
Marriott to re examine the restaurant strategy and realized that they should sell off the profitable, slow
growing family restaurant that included the Roy Rogers Family Restaurants and Bob s Big Boy
(Ambrose, 1999). Sadly, the last Hot Shoppes closed in December of 1999, which ended the Marriott
restaurant experience. However, long before Hot Shoppes closed, the couple discerns that the
hospitality industry is the new corporate focus. The Marriott s opened the

Shel Silverstein The Giving Tree Analysis
The Giving tree by Shel Silverstein is an elementary level children s book with illustrations. The book
is about a young boy and his relationship with a tree throughout his life. The tree is always giving him
something to make him happy and fulfill his needs. The tree never complains and is always happy to
help the boy. As the boy grows older he finds different uses for the tree. At the beginning of the story,
the young boy and the tree are very close but as he gets older he grows apart from the tree and only
visits when he s in need of something. I personally love this book a lot. This story can have many
different messages because each person can interpret the message in their own way and theres so
many different possibilities. I feel that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This line also makes me feel anxious and a little sad because i feel that the tone foreshadows sorrow.
As the story goes on it in fact is a little sad because the young boy decided to go on and discover
bigger, better things in life and he always forgets about the tree that loves him so much. This reminds
me of when kids are in their teens years, how we are too busy trying to fit in amongst our peers and try
new things. We are so caught up in other activities that we tend to forget about our parents and we
give more importance to other things and end up taking our parents for granted. Regardless of how the
boy neglects the tree that anxiously waits for him daily, the tree never holds a grudge because of how
strong the love is. The tree is always so excited to see the boy whenever he visits but the boy doesn t
feel the same way. Come Boy, come and climb up my trunk and swing from my branches and eat
apples and play in my shade and be happy! I am too big to climb and play said the boy. He always
asked the tree for something each time he visits and without hesitation the tree gives him every part of
itself but the young boy is still never

Gender Roles In Lillie Devereux Blake s Fettered For Life
In nineteenth century America, there were strict gender roles and expectations that men and women
were expected to conform to. Men were seen as dominant to women; while men were able to work
and drink, women were expected to get married, follow orders from her husband, and live a life of
limited freedom and personal choice. We see examples of these roles throughout Lillie Devereux
Blake s novel, Fettered for Life, as we encounter different women in the text that are oppressed
through physical abuse and lack of agency. However, Frank Heywood, the woman, manages to
outsmart these rules by cross dressing to be a man. She s the only female in the novel to break free of
the slavery of womanhood, and in the process uses her newfound freedom to act as a voice for the
oppressed female population. Not only does Frank aid women and their oppression, but she also
proves that women can do the work of a man, but are denied opportunities because of their sex. Blake
uses Frank s character to demonstrate the ways in which gender roles are socially constructed, and
prove that it s possible to break through the implemented social rules. Our first encounter of Frank, in
the opening scene, leads us to notice something different about him. Reporting for the New York
Trumpeter in the courtroom during Laura s trial, Blake describes him as having dark ernest eyes, with
a strange expression lurking in their depths, an indefinable something hard to interpret...a look as of
perpetual unrest, of

The Findings At The 21st Century A Study Created By Dr....
The Findings Partners in the 21st Century is a study created by Dr. Ron Rogge, who is a relationship
expert psychologist. He does plenty of research on individual factors, health factors/behaviors, and
couples behavior (Rogge). The overall concept of this study was to explain what individuals seek for
in their relationships with another person. The study was completed online that consisted of questions
that ranged from personality questions that included one s gender, personality background, romantic
and sexual partners, drug and alcohol use, and sexually transmitted infections, etc. (Rogge). However,
the key part of the survey was to explain whether an individual is single or in a relationship. For
instance, if someone was single, in a relationship, engaged, or married etc. Based on answering that
question, the upcoming questions would have changed to other directions dependent on the answers.
The importance of answering the questions correctly played a role in the follow up questions because
it allows the user doing the study to pick what the user is looking for. For example, I selected I am
single and questions indicated if I use geo social apps to meet people. When someone selected single,
the survey began to dive into what the person wanted in a relationship. The questions contained many
different variations, including if one uses the survey to satisfy their sexual curiosity, experience new
people, have nothing better to do, or it s exciting. However, another

A Religious View on Same-sex Marriage Essay
A Religious View on Same sex Marriage
The United States is a country built on a number of ideals and institutions. The moral structure of
many Americans today was developed by our ancestors and the founders of this nation through the
institutions that were a part of their lives. Family, religion, marriage, equality, and justice are just a
few examples of the important components that provide a moral basis for our country. If any of these
elements were to become too mutated, the effects on society could be devastating. Right now in the
United States, one of these building blocks of society is being threatened by the possibility of a
negative transformation. The building block of marriage as the sacred ... Show more content on

According to a Pew Poll, most religious communities believe same sex marriage and even
homosexuality in general are morally wrong and do not follow their religious beliefs (Waldman,
2003). There is no major religion in the world that has ever altered the definition of marriage to
include same sex couples (Barlow, 2003). In general, it can be said that many religious people have
strong views on same sex marriage, declaring it wrong because of their religious beliefs.
There are two main reasons why many religious groups are against same sex marriage. The first
argument is that people who are gay are not able to procreate. They do not have the correct
corresponding body parts to make children (Waldman, 2003). Anyone who has taken sex education
knows that humans can not reproduce without a male s sperm and a female s egg. Roman Catholics
believe God created marriage as a lifetime union between one woman and one man with the purpose
of having a loving relationship and for procreating, caring for, and teaching children (Charron
Skylstad, 1996). Sex that does not occur with the intent of procreation is not approved by many faiths.
In Judaism, for example, there is an important Bible passage that supports this idea. The story of Onan
is about Onan sleeping with his dead brother s wife. In order to prevent having children, Onan does
not ejaculate inside of his brother s wife. Instead he ejaculated on the ground. Because

agencies seek for lawbreakers to create problems in which they are fined for crimes they have

Heathcliff
Wuthering Heights is a novel whose main character is said to have a double significance. He is said to
be both the dispossessed and the dispossessor, victim of class hatred and arch exploiter, he
simultaneously occupies the roles of working class outsider and brutal capitalist. Heathcliff has all
these characteristics because of his experiences. He is a character moulded by his past. Heathcliff is a
character defined by his sympathetic past. Growing up as an orphan from a tender age, deprived of a
structured family and family support system, exposed to the negative influences life offered, it is
almost a certainty that his behaviour will not be that of an ideal gentleman. Heathcliff was adopted by

However Catherine lured Heathcliff into a relationship, brain washed him into thinking that she truely
loved him and was going to marry him one fine day. Instead she discarded their relationship and
decided to marry Edgar Linton, a wealthy man. Catherine discarded her relationship with Heathcliff,
for one main reason and that was because he was not a wealthy man. It was obvious that Catherine
married Edgar so she could be the greatest woman of the neighbourhood and if she married Heathcliff
it would degrade her and they would both end up as beggars . This a good example of how Heathcliff
was a victim of class hatred. His impulsive actions makes his character, not only revengeful, but also
demonic. His goal in life was to take revenge on those who have victimized him. Heathcliff is a victim
of class hatred but he also manipulates situations to his advantage and becomes an arch exploiter. For
example, after the death of his wife, Hindley went insane. Heathcliff used this opportunity to take
revenge and took Wuthering Heights away from Hindley. He then went further and married Edgar s
sister, not for love or monetary gain but to get back at Edgar for marrying Catherine, and treated Edgar
s sister terribly. Heathcliff s anger intensified and he was bent on destroying not only his enemies but
also their families. He then married his son to Catherine and Edgar s daughter in an attempt to gain
control over Thrushcross Grange. After

Macaulay, Ranke, And The Communist Manifesto By Karl Marx
The men researched in the chapters; Macaulay, Ranke, and Marx all contributed to the modern study
that we know of today as historiography. These men were all at one time students, but they all brought
something incredible to the table. Marx wrote two novels, Das Kapital, and the Communist Manifesto.
Thomas Macaulay wrote essays on British history, and Leopold von Ranke who was regarded as one
of the men who shaped the way we see history and other topics today. Karl Marx was a German
philosopher, and economist who would in due time, come to establish the government system that we
know of today, to be Marxism. Marx s most famous work s were the Communist Manifesto, (1848)

Seeing how affective these projectiles could be, the police in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong
eventually made a more sophisticated wooden bullet. By the 1970s, the British brought the idea back
to England, where they replaced wood with rubber. Eventually this idea trickled down to many other
countries including the United States. These rubber bullets can be shot from a standard police
handgun. The bullet has a metal shell casing but instead of a metal bullet it is replaced by a black thick
rubber projectile. In riots, the police will attempt to aim for any area below the neck; when the bullet
hits an object it flattens out in order to cause no permanent damage. Rubber bullets travel up to 950
mph, and if hit by one of these rubber bullets a rioter will experience an extreme stinging pain. Some
people describe the pain as being hit with a baseball bat (Norman). Although not intended to be deadly
doctors warn, rubber bullets are unsafe and should never be used by authorities to control riots . But
when it comes down to controlling hostile crowds, rubber bullets are the most effective and instant
way to turn rioters away. These are just a few non lethal weapons used by police in riots all across the
United States. Non lethal weapons come in a variety of devices that can be used to subdue rioters if
needed. These devices provide a much needed weapon

I Had Never Get Out Of Your Head
You know that experience you have that you can really never get out of your head? It is not a good
memory, one you will probably not tell your mother about until you are well in your forties? I had one
of those during my second week of college. My group of friends that experienced this night with me
included my roommate Dionia, Reggie, Reginald, and Fredrek. I met Reggie through Dionia, they are
both from Orangeburg, SC and attended the same high school. Reginald is Reggie s roommate which
is how I met Reginald, and Fredrek is Reginald s friend. Fredrek, Reginald and I all happen to be from
the same town so we all clicked instantly. The second week of school we were all ready to go out and
had some fun, that night we decided to meet up in my dorm so we could go out together. Until that
night on Franklin Boulevard I had never felt so scared and helpless in my life.
I was never a person to go out and party in my hometown, but being 18 and in college I decided I
would branch out a little but not to where I would be uncomfortable. Coming to Greensboro I knew
there were parts of the city that were prone to violence, being new to the city I did not know where
those areas were just yet. We decided earlier in the week that we were going to go out that Saturday,
Fredrek started looking on Snapchat for addresses or any flyers for parties that we could go to. He
found two, one was downtown at a club and the other was a house party. The night we were going out
we took an Uber while

College Athletes Should Be Openly Paid Essay
According to the Forbes.com, college athletes from around the country are already paid up to 125,000
dollars from tuition to meal plans to skill training. To an economist, this is pay (Dorfman). College
athletes should not receive pay because they already are given free tuition and more, it would result in
controversial amounts of pay including bargaining, and it would not benefit the athletic program.
Some college or its boosters are caught giving extra benefits to college football players. In some case

are aware enough to realize that student athletes on athletic scholarship are essentially paid already
because they receive free tuition, room, meal plans, and some money for books and miscellaneous

counseling, tutoring, life skill training, and even nutritional advice. Certainly, not all student athletes
are on scholarship and not all are on full scholarships but the student athletes in the revenue sports are
receiving compensation in the form of educational benefits and living expenses. Traveling around the
world is another privilege these student athletes are afforded. Many college athletes are being

  • 2. Italian Neorealism Genre During World War II many films in Italy the Italian community created a new type of genre for that specific decade called Italian Neorealism. The Neorealism genre was a style of film characterized by stories done by the poor and working class. These movies were typically filmed on location meaning not in a studio but rather at a real place and used nonprofessional actors. The films themselves contended with the difficulty of life post World War II. The early films were about social issues and war. Director Roberto Rossellini s created a movie during the Neorealist time called Rome Open City which was released in 1945. The movie shows a deeply moving portrait of Rome during the last couple years of the war, with Germany occupying the city and Allied forces slowly closing in. The film was made on whatever film stock Rossellini could gather up in the post war Italian economy. It was shot in the streets of Rome with a kind of documentary realism that would show an even greater impact to this story. Rome Open City for me personally was a very amusing movie to watch because I ve never watched a foreign movie before and it was something different to see especially back in 1945 when the war was going on. For me it s incredible how this movie did so well during a time of tragedy and yet movies here not in the US can t even get a decent rating. I did on the other hand have a bit of a hard time following the movie because the lyrics that were given to the movie in english weren t that amazing I feel like if I spoke Italian or if it was remastered into a english film then i d love it even more. The film was divided into two parts. The first half focused on the daily lives of the resistance fighters living in Rome. Francesco works for a communist newspaper, he also helps a group of militant anti Nazi fighters, led by his friend Giorgio. Francesco s fiancée, the Pina is involved in the struggle as well she helps create riots against the shops that control food rations and keep the people of the city from getting enough to eat. One of the major things I loved about this film was how Rossellini balances the film s darker moments with surprising humorous touches, especially when using the priest Don Pietro. The Part that ... • 3. Essay on Exploring the Existence of Paranormal Activity Whether we choose to believe in the paranormal or not, we all have to realize that there are many strange things that happen to all of us that are unexplainable. The history of paranormal existence has been around since the beginning of time. The paranormal is not what most people believe it is, ghosts . There is a wide range in what is considered paranormal. In order to understand the paranormal you must first understand the meaning of the word. The prefix Para means beyond and normal. This gets you the result of beyond normal. Just because science cannot prove it, does not mean that it is paranormal. In fact, as you read on you will discover that science does back up paranormal existence quite a bit. ... Sometimes they are visible by the human eye but most of the time they are only viewable through photographic lenses. Energy is plain and simple, energy everything you see and touch has energy in it no matter what it is. Take the elements for example. Earth, wind, water, and fire. These elements have mass amounts of energy that some people attempt to harness for their own good. Such as making a Psy ball in the palm of their hand. Psy pronounced sigh is the act of making an orb in your hand. It s not evil or fake. I have read many cases of this event. There are people that practice pyrokinesis and it is not the Hollywood classic of people making huge balls of fire and throwing them at things burning them to the ground. It is more or less drawing the energy from the fire and using it whether it be to create a psy ball or to get in touch with yourself. You can find energy in music. Have you ever witnessed somebody playing an instrument closing their eyes and enjoying it to the fullest? I know it happens to me all the time. I feel at one with the guitar. • 4. The City Of The Aztec Empire When thinking of ancient, urban centers many think of ancient capitals such as Rome, Athens, or Cairo. However, across the Atlantic Ocean in Central and South America, there were a number of growing urban centers being built by the Aztec, Mayan, and Incan civilizations. An example of a Central American urban center is Tenochtitlan. Tenochtitlan was the capital of the ancient Aztec capital which is located in present day Mexico City, Mexico. The development of this ancient city was dependent on three important factors: favorable ecology, advancing technology, and social organization. With these three preconditions, the growth of Tenochtitlan as a major urban center and as the capital of the Aztec s civilization was able to flourish. Similarly to modern day real estate, location played a detrimental role in determining whether or not an urban center could truly develop and flourish. A location with favorable ecology allows for resources such as agriculture to be produced near or within the city. However, agriculture is not the only element of ecology that allows for a city to develop. Other ecological elements such as rivers, lakes, elevation, mineral resource, and building materials are important in determining whether or not a location has favorable ecology (28). Tenochtitlan is often compared to Europe s Venice due to its structure and location within the Valley of Mexico. The landscape of the Valley of Mexico consisted of multiple lakes and resembled a water filled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The U.S American Revolution, 1775 1783(History Online) the end of the French Revolution, 1789 1799 the commencement of the Napoleonic Era, 1804 1815(Bonjour la France). Two Revolutions, two Generals, on two Continents. Bonaparte and Washington fought for equality, freedom, and fraternity for their homelands. This essay will compare and contrast Napoleon Bonaparte and George Washington by their education, most significant battle, and achievements. The question is, was Napoleon Bonaparte a dictator, or one of the most remarkable military strategist? Opinions are diverse about the man who crowned himself as an Emperor. In fact, this explains Napoleon s words when he said: Circumstances what are circumstances? I make circumstances (Biography/Online). On the other hand, George Washington the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army was the first President of the United States of America (The White House), who said, If we mean to support the liberty and independence which have cost us so much blood and treasure to establish, we must drive far away the demon of party spirit and local reproach George Washington. Should Contact Sports Be Banned Essay Jenna Gregory Mrs. King ELA 6th Hour 07 April 2017 Contact Sports Contact sports are very healthy for the human body, this is because of all the physical activity that is taking place. Not only are contact sports healthy physically but they are also healthy mentally. Contact sports should not be banned from schools because they relieve stress and anger. My first reason that contact sports should not be banned is because a lot of people love playing and being a part of this sort of activity. Other reasons are that they want to be active and healthy. Van De Walle, Karp, And Bay-Williams Van De Walle, Karp, Bay Williams (2013) describe the importance of using visual representations such as Area, length and Set models to consolidate fractional concepts. Observations of students representing fractions through the use of the three models allows teachers to gauge if learners have a real understanding of the fraction concepts. Area models represent fractions as part of an area. Circular or rectangular pieces, grids or dot paper, pattern blocks, geoboards and paper folding are examples of this type of model (Van De Walle, Karp Bay Williams 2013, p. 293). Furthermore students may have difficulty is grasping all of the representations of fractions and the concept associated with fractions greater than one. Van De Walle, Karp, Bay Williams (2013) discuss the importance of Iterating and partitioning in building conceptual understanding of fractions and the way they assist students to understand the meaning of fractions, particularly numerators and denominators and the relationship between the part and the whole. Partitioning involves sectioning shapes into equal sized parts. Area, length and set models are particularly useful in partitioning. • 14. The Commercial Airline Industry Has Witnessed A Steady... After a century of perpetual development [1], the commercial airline industry has witnessed a steady increase in airplane passenger capacity [2]. The industry itself is a notable economic force, from the perspectives of both operations and its impacts on relevant industries such as aircraft construction and tourism [3]. Different scales of wealth has led to market segmentations between airline companies with dissimilar objectives and consumer focus: premium airlines like Singapore Airlines offering top notch service, comfort, and quality at a higher price whilst low cost airlines such as easyJet are catering to consumers that prefer economical flights. Nevertheless, despite contrasting consumer targets, an underlying system is needed by airlines to run functionally. This primary system comprises principal inputs like airplanes, crews (pilots, flight attendants, ground staffs, etc) and data (airline s website, check in counters, etc), inputs are the components that are being utilised during the process of creating the product or good [31]. It also comprises principal output which is the customers mainly, the passengers on the airplane. Competitive priorities are defined as the dimensions that a business s production system must possess to support the demands of the markets in which the business wishes to compete [4]. • 15. Essay On The Restoration Period The period from 1660 to 1700 is known as the Restoration period. It was a period when King Charles II of England marked the beginning of a new era both in social life and the literature of England upon his return from exile. He revived a theatrical genre known as Comedies of Manners which was lewd and hilarious. The Way of the world depicts real picture of the restoration period connected to amoral and exploitative manners of the people. Therefore, this essay will be analyzed based on how the play acts as a social mirror of the restoration period in England during Congreve s time. First of all, the play is a dramatic representation of varieties of love that prevailed in England during the restoration period. Marriage was just a mere game of love. • 17. The Theme Of Power In King Lear King Lear , a play by Shakespeare tells us how kingship and power or the loss of power are expressed. Lear, king of Britain decides to retire and shares his kingdom between his daughters; he later discovers what it is like to lose the power and authority that came with responsibilities. In the play, power is related to flattery, appearance and anger. In act 1, scene 1, Lear says that Meantime [he] shall express [his] darker purpose (1,1,36). The expression darker purpose tells us that there is a secret and a tragedy that is about to be revealed. The power that Lear gives to Gonerill and Regan makes them deceitful. He offers his kingdom to them but in return they must tell him how much they love him which of you shall we say doth love us most, that we our largest bounty may extend . (1, 1,56 57). Even though Lear loses his senses, Edgar still finds out that he has got a point which seems to be reasonable. To conclude, King Lear portrays power as the ability to manipulate and control whatever one desires; power corrupts Gonerill, Regan and Edmund. When one has all the power he desires, deceit is usually the path he takes. Lear appears as an actor with no role to play and realizes this in scene 4, when he cries why, this is not Lear and later says who is it that can tell me who I am? . She is adamant about addressing and fixing the self hate among black people. However, analyzing Shakur made me realize that there was a difference among the activists from the 19th and early 20th century and the ones from the mid 20th century. Compared to the older activists we have discussed, there seems to be a push for self worth, not just how to achieve equal rights or make whites accept black people. Malcolm X pushes for this belief in self worth and unity among black people as well.3 This becomes important in my opinion because black people have struggled for centuries attempting to gain equality and during its duration have naturally endured identity issues. I feel that W.E.B Du Bois idea of double consciousness comes into play here. His idea that African Americans have basically two identities or thought processes, one being Black and the other being American or through the eyes of white people could have possibly created divisions among blacks, causing some to despise themselves. 4

  • 22. The Death Of Ivan Ilych By Leo Tolstoy In The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy, he shows how the majority of society is selfish. Tolstoy suggests how even though there is so much selfishness in society, there are some exceptional people who do not follow social conventions and are the prime example of how people in a society should be. This paper will argue that being selfless is important in society and that people should deviate from individualistic behavior and concentrate more on the collective behavior. Through this careful examination it will be revealed that although a person should think about how to advance themselves in the social hierarchy, it cannot be their only goal and people need to combine it with it a more humanistic goal as well. According to Tolstoy, society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He introduces the character as Gerasim, the butler s assistant. He is content with the little that that he has. He is the only one in the story who believes that death will come to everyone. Other people in society think that death only comes to other people and will not come to them. This is exemplified by Peter, who feels that this had happened to Ivan Ilych and not to him, and that it should not and could not happen to him... began to ask with interest about the details of Ivan Ilych s death, as though death was an accident natural to Ivan Ilych but certainly not to himself (Tolstoy 9). Through the thought process of Peter, Tolstoy shows how society views death. Gerasim is also the only one in the story who shows empathy towards Ivan Ilych. He cares about other people. He doesn t feel that helping Ivan is a burden, but more as a way of soothing a dying man. As Ivan observed, He saw that no one felt for him, because no one even wished to grasp his position. Only Gerasim recognized it and pitied him. And so Ivan Ilych felt at ease only with him. He felt comforted when Gerasim supported his legs (sometimes all night long) Tolstoy( 42). This illustrates how Gerasim didn t mind his own inconvenience for the comfort of his master. Tolstoy portrays how most people in society have a lot more financial and social status, but they are missing the essential meaning of life. However, even though Gerasim lacks these advantages that other people have, he is the one who is the happiest. This is because he has all the components; selflessness, love for everyone, and a strong sense of empathy which makes up a meaningful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Seizing an opportunity, the Marriott s decided to diversify the A W root beer menu by incorporating hot food items, thus creating Hot Shoppes. When the business strategy called for expansion in 1928, two additional Hot Shoppes opened creating the first East Coast drive in (Marriott, 2017). • 26. Gender Roles In Lillie Devereux Blake s Fettered For Life In nineteenth century America, there were strict gender roles and expectations that men and women were expected to conform to. Men were seen as dominant to women; while men were able to work and drink, women were expected to get married, follow orders from her husband, and live a life of limited freedom and personal choice. We see examples of these roles throughout Lillie Devereux Blake s novel, Fettered for Life, as we encounter different women in the text that are oppressed through physical abuse and lack of agency. However, Frank Heywood, the woman, manages to outsmart these rules by cross dressing to be a man. She s the only female in the novel to break free of the slavery of womanhood, and in the process uses her newfound freedom to act as a voice for the oppressed female population. Not only does Frank aid women and their oppression, but she also proves that women can do the work of a man, but are denied opportunities because of their sex. Blake uses Frank s character to demonstrate the ways in which gender roles are socially constructed, and prove that it s possible to break through the implemented social rules. Our first encounter of Frank, in the opening scene, leads us to notice something different about him. Reporting for the New York Trumpeter in the courtroom during Laura s trial, Blake describes him as having dark ernest eyes, with a strange expression lurking in their depths, an indefinable something hard to interpret...a look as of perpetual unrest, of ... The overall concept of this study was to explain what individuals seek for in their relationships with another person. The study was completed online that consisted of questions that ranged from personality questions that included one s gender, personality background, romantic and sexual partners, drug and alcohol use, and sexually transmitted infections, etc. (Rogge). However, the key part of the survey was to explain whether an individual is single or in a relationship. For instance, if someone was single, in a relationship, engaged, or married etc. Based on answering that question, the upcoming questions would have changed to other directions dependent on the answers. The importance of answering the questions correctly played a role in the follow up questions because it allows the user doing the study to pick what the user is looking for. For example, I selected I am single and questions indicated if I use geo social apps to meet people. When someone selected single, the survey began to dive into what the person wanted in a relationship. The moral structure of many Americans today was developed by our ancestors and the founders of this nation through the institutions that were a part of their lives. Family, religion, marriage, equality, and justice are just a few examples of the important components that provide a moral basis for our country. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to a Pew Poll, most religious communities believe same sex marriage and even homosexuality in general are morally wrong and do not follow their religious beliefs (Waldman, 2003). There is no major religion in the world that has ever altered the definition of marriage to include same sex couples (Barlow, 2003). In general, it can be said that many religious people have strong views on same sex marriage, declaring it wrong because of their religious beliefs. There are two main reasons why many religious groups are against same sex marriage. The first argument is that people who are gay are not able to procreate. They do not have the correct corresponding body parts to make children (Waldman, 2003). Anyone who has taken sex education knows that humans can not reproduce without a male s sperm and a female s egg. Roman Catholics believe God created marriage as a lifetime union between one woman and one man with the purpose of having a loving relationship and for procreating, caring for, and teaching children (Charron Skylstad, 1996). Sex that does not occur with the intent of procreation is not approved by many faiths. In Judaism, for example, there is an important Bible passage that supports this idea.
