Snyder s 300 Hyperbole
Film is a source of entertainment for thousands of people, however it can also be seen as modern
poetry. Two examples of poetry in film is Snyder s 300 (2006) and Weir s Gallipoli (1981),
Both films have a theme of War one that glorifies it and the other denounces it. Despite the films being
different in genre and mood, both films have strong poetic devices such as hyperbole, symbolism and
repetition.
During Snyder s 300 many forms of hyperbole were used to portray the Glory of War which is the
main theme for the film. An example of hyperbole, which is noticeable throughout the entire film, is
the enhanced colouring to make the figures and scenes appear like a graphic novel. This is because the
original story line was based on Frank Millar s 300 graphic novel series. The end half of the movie
used exaggerated features more often, from the beast like features on Persia s fighters to Leonidas war
cry nearing the end of the final battle. The directors have used this poetic device to create a stronger
sense of emotion for the film.

Greenhouse gasses (GHGs) pose a serious threat to the environment through acting as a catalyst for
substantial climate change. Carbon Dioxide (CO2), a specific greenhouse gas, is the one that is the
most prominent in our atmosphere; this being the case it is also causing the most damage. Carbon
dioxide is emitted primarily through the burning of fossil fuels, such as oil and coal. These fossil fuels
are burned in power plants and create large amounts of emissions that are not ideal for the
environment. When faced with a problem similar to this one, it is only rational to think that a
particular solution should be implemented. In this case, the solution is a carbon tax . These carbon
taxes would be directed towards the sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Recently, British Columbia,
Canada enacted a carbon tax, it has some strengths and weaknesses, the due has an effect on the
economy, it also needs to be at a certain rate, it has been successful and unsuccessful, the tax is also
has aspects of being revenue neutral and revenue recycling. A carbon tax as an idea for the reduction

reputation is ruined. All the kids at her school continue to think she does stuff with boys, herself and

adults who graduate high school and college to only come back and live with their parent and rely on

both the stage and the audience was tremendous and people did not want to sit, I think this relates to

gone hand and hand with the military veterans and hope that this is the beginning of an annual art

Ivanov-Erickson Coming Home Analysis
April 29th, 2017 I attended a live performance at Marygrove college titled New heights. The
variations of styles and meaning behind the choreography kept me wanting more. While some acts
were very facile to comprehend, others bemused me, but all together it was prodigious. The clothing,
the background lights, the music, and the prosthetics brought the whole show together. I was intrigued
with every last performance that day.

Coming home (A mother s love) was an interesting combination of hip hop and contemporary.
Beginning with no music and a grieving mother in a church carrying a can of Arizona. Dressed in a
black dress and a black hat with a veil, you could distinguish the sorrow. Now when the other dancer
came out he was dressed in a gray hoodie and blue jeans.Right away I knew this was a dedication to
Trayvon Martin along with other black men who were murdered senselessly. It was beautiful, with the
lighting and music, I just couldn t stop gazing. Takin over was another combination of hip hop and
contemporary. The performers wore dark purple shorts and black over tops. It was really cool to
watch. In Kombat the two dancers were dressed in a knight uniforms accompanied by fake swords and
knight like helmets. The dance was marvelous with the smoke, lighting, and the suspenseful music. At
the end when the two battled and the knight murders Chlorinda, not knowing it was her until she
removed her helmet, was just heart wrenching. Now Women of the water began with a woman talking
about water and woman with pictures of bodies of water, land, and women of divergent cultures. As
the voice went off the dances came out taking their place on stage. The dancers wore gray leotards
along with dark beige skirts. This dance contained many contract and release movements. I especially
loved when the dancers would form a circle and unfold just like a flower. The last piece was Danse
Brilliante , was wonderful to watch. With the dancers dressed in light purple, blue and pink dresses

The snowshoe hare is an animal that seems to have a high predation rate and has struggled at times to
avoid predators and different types of climate. According to Dashiell Feierabend, Knut Kielland,
(2015) the survival and predation of these snowshoe hares was researched for quite some time, yet no
true leads have been discovered such as hare s vulnerability, which leaves the question of what
