Food Networks on The Coast of New Hampshire Essay examples
The Seacoast of New Hampshire and the surrounding regions are full of a vast amount of local food
resources. In my town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, people are making it their life s work to spread
awareness about the importance of locally grown food. The Seacoast Growers Association is one
organization that has been holding farmers markets since the 1970s. Besides just working to make
local food available on the seacoast, ...this Local Food Network also offers great educational and
awareness building programs and promotes the importance of clean water, air and land to preserving
not just our agricultural heritage, but also our future (Seacoast Growers Association). Portsmouth s

The Seacoast Growers Association works in cooperation with other groups throughout the seacoast,
such as Seacoastlocal.org, Slow Food Seacoast, and Seacoast Eat Local. Seacoastlocal.org focuses on
promoting dynamic and sustainable community on the Seacoast through educating about the value of
building our local economy and investing in a healthy community, economy and environment
(www.seacoastlocal.org). They have chosen five areas on which they would like to make an impact.
These areas are: local business, local food, local energy, local capital, and local arts and culture.
Seacoastlocal.org is made up of independent businesses, residents of the Seacoast, and nonprofit
organizations all working together. They just recently created a project called the 10% Shift.
Seacoastlocal found that if five million households in New England shifted 10% more of their existing
purchases from non local businesses to Local Independents (locally owned and independent
businesses), we would see thousands of new jobs created and billions of dollars of new economic
activity in New England, all without raising taxes or spending a dime more than we planned
(www.seacoastlocal.org). Slow Food Seacoast is the Seacoast s chapter of the Slow Food movement
that is growing throughout the country. It was only started in 2006, but is rapidly gaining members.
Their goal is to try to get people to slow down and really learn to enjoy and appreciate seasonal, fresh,

Emergency Management Plan
The town should develop an emergency management plan in the event of weapons of mass destruction
terrorist attack. Emergency management includes four basic phases: mitigation, response, recovery,
and preparedness (Maras, 2013). First we will look at mitigation, in this process the focus is to lessen
the effects of the emergency. Then maximize the effort to reduce potentials for future disasters. The
second step, response, seeks to effectively respond to an emergency in order to save lives, protect
property, and meet basic human needs (Maras, 2013). First responders are very critical at this point
and their training will save lives in these types of situations. The people in the community will all
work together to suruce the areas and provide

Key Facts and Issues Glenn Rozycki is a 25 year old resident of Scarborough, Ontario who left school
at York University after one year because he felt that he would be happier running his own car
detailing business. Glenn wants to start up a new company, Custom Car Care, cleaning and detailing
cars. Glenn began this venture as a part time job but he wants to turn it into his full time job. To ensure
that his business will be successful, especially in comparison to other similar businesses in his area,
Glenn must make sure his business idea is realistic, sustainable, and profitable. To ensure that Glenn
can build a respectable reputation as a car detailing business, Glenn must be able to grab a segment of
the market in his area where a few competitors already exist. Glenn can penetrate the market by
employing different marketing and promotional strategies to ensure that he ll see success and profits
with his limited resources. Glenn s main objective for his business strategy is to provide cleaning and
maintenance to both the interior and exterior of vehicles to preserve their condition by using quality
name brand products and precise, hand done work. Glenn has already identified the different segments
of car owners: owners of older cars that are in poor condition, but served the purpose of
transportation; owners of newer, mid priced cars; and owners of expensive cars costing more than
$35,000. Glenn faced some competition in his area. There are

The Sculpture Plunge Created By Artist Robert Smithson
The sculpture Plunge created in 1966, by artist Robert Smithson, currently located at the Denver Art
Museum in Denver, Colorado. It is a symmetrical, non objective piece made from a black or dark gray
colored steel. Of which cubes are stacked in a stepping motion of four steps, in a repetition of ten,
aligned side by side in a series giving the illusion of depth or distance. They give a nesting and
receding illusion so they appear to slowly increase and decrease in size, appearing balanced on all
sides depending on the angle of which the viewer is seeing it. Lighting plays a factor in the appearance
and the color variance.
This sculpture has an element of motion, with every step after the first series of steps it appears to
move further away. It also has a very interesting appearance, but I am uncertain of how it makes me
feel. I am leaning towards an almost anxious feeling, the colors and the length, I am uncertain of the
sizes, they appear different, but I cannot tell, thus creating an anxiety. The multiple levels and the
length of this piece almost causes me worry, reminding me of a dream, like you are falling and you
never really reach the ground. It would also lend to the feelings of agitation for me the same reasons.
Colors in this sculpture are of a neutral hue, of blacks. Alternatively, it also appears to be a shade of
dark gray. Appearing to be of a flat or a matte finish. I am assuming the change in the colors
appearance is more due to the light reflecting on

Deadly Deception Documentary Film
Is human experimentation appropriate? Should people be given the right to informed consent if the
research could result in possible harm? Is human experimentation in light of the Tuskegee study
justified? These are just some of the questions that arose during the presentation of the film Deadly
Deception. This film featured the government sponsored Tuskegee experiment and documents this
forty year study of untreated syphilis in the black males of Macon County, Alabama. This review will
examine the film Deadly Deception in light of the appropriateness of human experimentation and the
right for informed consent as well as the different ethical and moral views that may arise as a response
to what occurred. Deadly Deception is a documentary about one of the most, if not the most
controversial human experimentation studies conducted in America. This film chronicles the Tuskegee
experiment which began in 1932 and was carried out within a forty year time span of consistent
experimentation. This study s primary goal was to observe the effects of untreated syphilis on the
human body over the course of a year for the sole purpose of eradicating the disease, but when it was
discovered that a large proportion of the study s population had syphilis, the objectives for the study
changed. This study took place in Macon County, Alabama with 600 black male participants, 400 of
which were infected with syphilis while the other 200 participants occupied the control (without
syphilis). At the

Tsar Nicholas II’s Abdication was Preventable
Tsar Nicholas II s abdication in February 1917 was an event that both he could have prevented,
however a number of factors meant it was out of his control. A revolution in Russia was inevitable and
Nicolas was hapless to have been crowed a time of liberation; however his personality traits and
actions lead to abdication in February 1917. Nicholas lack of political understanding was a constant
delimitative factor throughout his rule, especially regarding Russia revolutionary stance, the Russo
Japanese War, the 1905 revolution, The October Manifesto, Russia s participation in World War and
the influencing factors of his wife and Gerogery Rasputin. Which lead to the question, was it Nicholas
alone that led to his abdication in February 1917 or was it is combination of influencing factors?
By 1894, Russia was economically and socially backwards, needing a ruler who could guide them to
modernisation and reform, without this a revolution is inevitable. Due to its proximity, Westernisers
were contrasting their lifestyle to that of the Europeans post industrialisation, identifying clear
injustices in their society. Literary critic Belinsky explains Everything great, noble , human and
spiritual came up, grew, burst into splendid bloom and brought fourth sumptuous fruit on European
soil (after the industrial revolution) Russians never had much to contrast their lifestyle to, however the
boom of Europe proposed an idea of an alternation which could be achieved in Russia. This

Harrison Bergeron Essay
In the following essay we will discuss to what extent do the novels of Kurt Vonnegut serve as a mirror
to American history and politics in the seconf half of the twentieth century in relation to two of his

(1961) and Slaughterhouse Five (1969). Before we begin discussing the topic of tKurt Vonneguts

first we wil discuss television in Harrison Bergeron, Vonnegut makes the television a constant
presence throughtout the story, the whole story is based from George and Hazel Bergeron s sitting
room as they sit and watch the ballet on television. When we tale a closer look at the use of the
television in the story we begin to notice that it is almost like a tool that hypnotises its viewers.
QUOTE. When Hazel Bergeron witnesses the murder of her son, Harrington, and begins to cry
QUOTE she is so distracted by the ballet she cant even remember why she is crying. This scene for
me was sure proof that the government are using the television as a control device for members of
society, Hazel Bergeron just watch her son die, she seems to have no recollection of his death and just
brushes off the tear and goes back to normal. Someone had to have intervened for a mother to just go
on like her son never existed. QUOTE. The government also uses the television as a good tool to put
people like Harrison Bergeron in a bad light QUOTE, Harrison is seen as a dangerous fugitive in the

Evolution Of The Airplane Research Paper
The first name that comes to mind when talking about the history of airplanes are The Wright
Brothers. Orville and Wilbur were American inventors who are credited with the inventing, building,
and flying the first self propelled airplane that could be controlled and could land safely. On December
17, 1903, the Wright brothers set for the skies and made the first controlled flight near Kitty Hawk,
North Carolina. From the first powered, manned, and controlled flight many aspects of the airplane
has been improved while the basis of the control system pilots use is still intact. From the first airplane
to the current ones that occupy the sky today have seen changes and improvements in avionics, the
structure and materials that are being used, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Planes have shifted from wood and canvas structures to ones made from aluminum and other
composite materials. Propeller driven planes are still around today but the engine used to spin the
propeller has become more efficient and powerful. Jet engines have replaced many of the propeller
driven engines on the bigger planes allowing the plane to fly faster and at greater altitudes. The
incorporation of avionic systems like auto pilot, navigation, and communication has made the pilot s
life easier when flying. Without these advances in the airplane people and/or goods wouldn t able to
fly the great distances they do today. The airplane is used all over the world for varying reasons,
commercial airline companies such as United, Delta, and Southwest fly passengers all over the world
for business or leisure. Companies like UPS, Fedex, and the United State Postal Service use planes to
deliver packages all over the world. The military uses planes in time of war, for reconnaissance
missions, and to deliver aid to countries in times of need. Emergency services use planes to transport
injured people to different locations or put out wildfires from the sky. Those are just a few examples
of how improvements to the airplane has made an impact on citizens that surround

Analysis of the Brown v Board of Education Case
It is imperative to note that the case of Brown v Board of Education is based on a chronological
history of the fight towards realization of human rights in the United States. This essay shall begin by
discussing the history chronologically and accessing it whilst the essay goes along. It is clear that even
though the United States constitution guaranteed equal rights to all men, the issue of slavery prevailed
under violation of other human rights. It was only after the Civil War that slave trade was considered
unlawful. It was not until 1865 that the Thirteenth Amendment was put into effect to help bring to an
end slave trade. The need to strengthen the legal rights of slaves was noticed and by 1868 the
Fourteenth Amendment was used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decisions that followed prepared the way on which the case of Brown case took place. The first of
the series of cases was the case of Murray v. Maryland. The Maryland school of law was rejecting
students basing on their skin color (Anderson, 2004). Thurgood represented Murray in this decision
where he argued that then he was as qualified as other white students who were admitted into the same
school. He argued that the criteria used in admitting students was discriminating and the student did
not have another institution to pursue his career. He further argued that failure to admit him was going
against his right to education. The challenge of the Maryland s decision was before the Baltimore City
Court. The Baltimore City Court decided in favor of Maryland. Maryland appealed to the Maryland
Court of Appeal and the court upheld the decision. The continued fight by NAACP Legal Defense
took the case of Missouri exparte Gaines v. Canada. The Missouri school of law offered Gaines an
option of being admitted into the school of the blacks that they intended to build. He was also given an
option of attending another school whereby his fee was to be paid by the school. Gaines rejected the
said offers. His decision reached the Supreme Court, which held in his favor. The Supreme Court cited
the equal protection clause. The subsequent decisions were founded on the decision in Murray. The
legal battle reached its peak in the

When it comes to rates, both of these companies vary in prices by just a dollar or a few. Some of the
services they offer have the same rates as well. But just recently, both these companies have adjusted
their pricing scheme due to increasing fuel prices. FedEx has slowly gained in competition with UPS
in terms of revenue. In a year, FedEx averages about $22 billion in sales while UPS averages $30
billion a year. Sometimes you just have to face the fact that a company s success is best measured by
its results of operations. When it comes to the selling rates of their shares in the stock market, UPS is
still number one with their stocks valued at $82 billion, while FedEx trails by a large margin selling
only $22 billion dollars in stocks.

Macbeth s Ultimate Self-Destruction
In the play Macbeth, multiple drastic and dramatic events occurred that lead to the ultimate self
destruction of Macbeth himself. Following his death, not only did the kingdom become irrevocably
corrupt, but the order was undoubtedly damaged. The trust between one and other was broken due to
Macbeth s prior actions. In result of his death, a new king had to be appointed whom was Malcolm.
The play Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, portrays Malcolm as the new kind, who is given new
challenges to bring the peace back. Macbeth is willing to do anything to be king. Macbeth proves his
loyalty to Duncan by serving him. Macbeth states, the service and the loyalty I owe in doing it pays
itself(I.iv.25) To avoid being taken advantage of, Macbeth

Taking a Look at Molecular Cuisine
Molecular cuisine, a relatively new style of cooking, is taking the world by surprise and changing the
way food is prepared, cooked and looked at. People are asking a lot of questions such as Is it safe?,
What kinds of chemicals are used?, Who decided to start this whole thing?, How did it start, and
when?, and What kind of equipment do the cooks use? These are all very good questions and the
answers are out there, they just have to be found. Food and science have been combined to create
something extraordinary called molecular cuisine. The question that is probably going through the
reader s head by now is What is it? Well, molecular cuisine is physics and chemistry applied food to
create different flavours, textures and to amaze the five senses. It is also another way of preparing
food to provide other ways of cooking and to create more possibilities for cooking food. There are
many other names for molecular cuisine such as molecular gastronomy, avant garde cuisine,
experimental cuisine, modern cuisine, and modernist cuisine. The now late oxford physicist Nicholas
Kurti and French chemist Hervé This came up with the term molecular gastronomy for the new style
of cooking/science they started experimenting with back in the 1980 s. People are definitely interested
in molecular cuisine but don t know whether it is safe or not. Some of the chemicals that are used in
molecular cuisine come from natural origins. The material origin in typically plant,

Heathcliff Addiction
Within Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights, the theme of love as an addiction is
consistently weaved throughout the pages of the novel. It is seen in many characters, but Heathcliff is
the most clear example of this theme. His entire life and all of the decisions that he makes are based
off of the fact that he is addicted to loving Catherine, and can not get over her. There are many ways in
which readers can see that Heathcliff s love is an addiction, rather than a normal love story.
Addiction generally begins when a person is looking to fill a void within their life. Heathcliff grew up
as an adopted child, and after Mr. Earnshaw died, he had no parental figures in his life. HIndley
treated him poorly throughout his childhood, so Heathcliff

The Effectiveness Of Brand Placement
Purpose
This article investigates the effectiveness of brand placement in movies. Brand placement is an
advertising technique used by companies to promote their products through a non traditional
advertising technique, usually through appearances in film, television, or other media (Product
Placement, n.d.). Previous studies have shown that not all brand placements are equally effective.
Early studies have shown mixed results regarding the consumer s ability to remember the brand
appearing in the film or television. Additionally, placement has shown weak or non existent results
towards brand attitude. The authors of this study investigated the interaction of prominence (how
prominently the brand is represented in the movie) and plot connection (how well the placement is
related to the movie s story line) on actual moviegoer s recognition of brands and their attitude
towards them (Dens, DePelsmacker, Wouters, Purnawirawan, 2012).
Methodology
The authors indicated that their research was one of the first to study the impact of brand placement
characteristics on brand attitude, and the effect of brand recognition in this process. They conducted a
thorough literature review and developed eight hypotheses regarding the following: the effects of
prominence on brand recognition and attitude, the impact of plot connection on brand recognition and
attitude, the interaction between prominence and plot connection, and the mediating role of brand
recognition in brand attitude

The As A Vegetarian Based Or Vegan Diet ( Watters )
Vegetarianism has existed for many centuries, but perhaps the most well known vegetarian was
Pythagoras. Pythagoras was a philosopher whom educated much of the world on his ideas in life, one
at the time being the abstinence of meat. Pythagoras, along with many of his followers, believed that
the consumption of meat could affect the longevity of one s life. Though not everyone believed in
Pythagoras opinions, he still had a loyal group of followers. Pythagoras was so widely associated with
a meat free diet that the terms vegetarian was not even in use until 1847, when the term pythagorean
was changed to vegetarian (Avey). Today, there are 16 million people in America who follow a
vegetarian based or vegan diet (Watters). There is a common misconception that the choice to become
a vegetarian is based only on a person s love for animals, but there are many other benefits to being a
vegetarian. Pythagoras and his followers gave many of the same arguments that people who abstain
from meat today support; for example, Pythagoras had the belief that there was a majority of added
health benefits from a meatless diet (Avey). Vegetarianism can decrease the risk of cancer along with
other health concerns, can solve problems the world presently faces, such as world hunger and animal
cruelty and can have positive effects on the environment such as pollution reduction and overgrazing
reduction. People need to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle because it will improve public

The Significance Of Love In Those Winter Sundays, By...
Love is a powerful motivator in the world. While love isn t tangible, it is all around us in the world. In
our hearts or in others it is rare to find a place lacking in it. As such, it is not hard to presume that love
too, is a common occurrence in prose. For many, love may consume their entire being: their thoughts,
their actions and their time. For them it is a duty an obligation an office that must be fulfilled. Such is
the case in Robert Hayden s poem Those Winter Sundays, Hayden uses the father and the speaker as a
tangible embodiment of how unrequited and harsh love can be. Hayden tells us more in what he doesn
t say then what he says or as Johnson says, for everything the poem says, there is something else that
remains unspoken (Johnson). This premise is true throughout all the poem and becomes quite apparent
if the agent s (the father s) actions are put under scrutiny. Unfortunately, it can be hard to determine
the significance behind the actions without context. For example, Sunday too my father got up early,
with just a glancing look it seems to be a kind action, but nothing showing true devotion and love
(Hayden). Despite this, one must recognize that the Hayden is implying that the father got up on early
on other days as well as Sunday. To make this act even more impressionable Landau explains that,
Sunday has been regarded as a day of rest, but the speaker s father, trapped in his role as father, is not
able to observe this convention (Landau). To

Greek Knowledge Between Adam And Eve
Adam and Eve, however, possess a greater disadvantage in that they do not have the knowledge
required to simply identify Satan. As stated earlier, the wise angels were not able to discover the true
identity of Satan. Eve is, therefore, destined to do the same. Although the narrator of the poem and
God never discuss the true nature of Eve, Adam perceives her as a beautiful but inferior in the
mind/and inward faculties (Paradise Lost, 7.541 542). Regardless of her true nature, it is clear that
both Adam and Eve do not possess the equivalent amount of knowledge as the angels. After Raphael
relates the story of Satan s rebellion, Adam with his consorted Eve... was fill d/With...deep Muse to

The conversation led the two to have thoughts that they would never have had otherwise. But,
interestingly, Adam and Eve gain more than just new thoughts, they also gain Muse. Muse goes a step
beyond simple thoughts, suggesting profound meditation (OED). In other words, they become
entranced by the new knowledge that they received; knowledge that was not available to them
beforehand. Yet, the word Muse has another meaning that further complicates the impression of
ignorance for Eve. A muse is also each of the nine goddesses regarded as presiding over and inspiring
learning (OED). Firstly, by referring to goddesses the term introduces a feminine connotation. This
term, therefore, relates more to Eve than it does to Adam, regardless of the fact that both are present
when Raphael delivers his message. According to the meaning of this term, Eve not only learns, but
she instigates learning. She not only seeks knowledge, but she also advocates gaining it. Eve is,
therefore, not ignorant nor does she seek ignorance. Instead, she is left dumbfounded by the
knowledge she receives and she desires to seek

Satire And Corruption In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Chaucer uses satirization in the descriptions of the characters in the General Prologue of The
Canterbury Tales to reveal the corruption in the Church that was widespread in society during the 14th
century. Manny members of the church used their positions for the personal gain of themselves. This
can be seen in the Prologue when he describes these characters.
Chaucer shows us through the satirization of several characters, the corruptness of the church of
England and the lust/sexual corruption through the common people. Chaucer satirized several
characters to show the reader that they aren t what they appear and to develop the characters through
complex character development. By using satire, Chaucer depicts certain characters in a much ...

In the Prologue and her tale we get to see the Wife of Baths views and we get to see how she is as a
person. She has plenty of experience in the art of virginity, marriage and love because she s been
married five times and knows that her experience is better than the knowledge from books. She isn t a
traditional woman of that time, she s not ashamed of her actions or the fact she s been married more
than the usual. She takes her experience with all of the men she s been with more serious than the
things people say that are inexperienced in love. Geoffrey Chaucer portrays the Wife of Bath as a
promiscuous whore, crude, and hypocritical. On the other hand she is comical, fearless, and radical.
She is proud of everything she s done in her life and the fact that she has had five husbands does not
embarrass her or shame her in any way. She believes in her way of living and thoroughly supports it
with verses from the bible. That is satirical because she is mocking women s repression with a piece of
literature that has been used by men for centuries to justify women s oppression. She questions the
fact that the bible talks about women, staying a virgin and only marrying once but realizes, that many
men in the bible had multiple wives and marriages. ...Lamech and his bigamye? I woot wel Abroaham
was an holy man, And Jacob eek, as fer as evere I can, And eech of hadde wives mo than two, And
many another holy man also. (118) Chaucer uses irony and satire to questions the church s
maltreatment of women by giving the Wife of Bath the opportunity to speak freely about marriage, sex
and the desires of women. Chaucer uses complex character development to describe the Wife of Bath
as a gap toothed, promiscuous, witty, voluptuous woman who boasts about the fact she lies, cheats,
and deceives her husbands, she shows no remorse for the men she treats this way. Yet, she is a strong

John Ashbery s Influence On Visual Art
The poetry of the New York School artists is exceptionally affected by visual art; the artists, for
example, Frank O Hara, and John Ashbery were influenced basically by Abstract Expressionism,
Surrealism, Cubism, and Dada. The motivation behind why visual workmanship had such a solid
impact on their poetry is that the painters of the New York School ruled the art world, they set the
patterns, and writers and artists follow them. Additionally, visual craftsmanship played a noteworthy
part in the lives of the artists as a number of them were art reviewers and they frequently worked
together with the artists. The thesis of this paper concentrates on the Marcel Duchamp s art influence
on John Ashbery poetry, especially Daffy Duck in Hollywood.

What Is The Theme Of Wysken, Wynken And Nod
Wynken, Blynken and Nod is a famous lullaby written by American poet Eugene Field. It was first
published on March 9, 1889. The original version is a Dutch Lullaby. It is found that this poem is
distinctive as it contains a comprehensible story whereas most of lullabies do not have this feature.
Moreover, its poetic devices and journey motif are remarkable. For instance, diction is used in the
poetry as we can see in the title Wynken, Blynken and Nod to suggest the audience what the poetry is
about. In addition, the story features a journey of three little children that can reflect sociocultural
context in that period. This reflective paper will discuss four elements, namely the narrative, the
interpretation, the function and the performance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To make it clear, the poet uses the young characters to help young readers or listeners more easily
relate the poem with themselves. Moreover, he personifies non living objects to act like human being
which make it more interesting. For example, the poet uses the word ask to make the moon animate
which encourages children to imagine the old moon as an old person ( The old moon asked the three).
Also, personification helps children understand emotion of the character. For instance, The old moon
laughed and sang a song. Children can understand that the moon finds three children ridiculous after
they answer the moon that they are coming to fish in the sky. Furthermore, the poet uses simple
objects and setting to make children easily relate to themselves. For example, he uses wooden shoe
and a trundle bed which are common things in their daily lives. Also, the story takes place in the sky
on one late night. which they can imagine and understand the story easily. Additionally, the use of
diction makes the children enjoy the poem more. For example, the use of the characters names
Wynken, Blynken and Nod relate to the action of a sleepy person. Children may find this interesting

Functionalist View of Religion Essay
The Functionalist View of Religion First Last name
Bluegrass Community Technical College
There are several key elements that are found in every society. These elements are called cultural
universals. One of these cultural universals is religion. From the earliest known societies to our every
day modern lives religion has performed many vital functions. To explore these necessary duties of
religion we must first understand the definition of religion. Many describe religion as a feeling or
presence of a supernatural being. Others say religion is more of a self awareness or inner peace.
Webster s Dictionary defines religion as 1a: The state of the religious b (1): The service or worship of
God or the supernatural (2): ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter what the religion or what criteria necessary for attaining the salvation that religion teaches,
it is clear that the only manifest function of religion points to salvation. There have been many latent
functions of religion in society as well. These are some of the unintended uses of religion as a whole.
One of the major latent functions of religion is the psychological effects it has in individual lives
(Dance, 2010). As Weber said religion helps people deal with the inevitable problems of existence like
sickness, pain, and eventually death. Religion for any time and any culture has helped to lead people
through the difficult stages of life. It gives the support and tools necessary to cross the difficult
thresholds that come our way; from childhood, to adolescence, to adulthood, to old age, and
eventually to the final exit, death. Every religion has certain rituals and beliefs that accompany these
stages of life. Many ancient religions had certain incantations and spells that were chanted over
someone that was sick or diseased. Many modern religions pray to their respective deity in hopes that
the inflicted person would be healed. From the earliest known religions there has always been some
religious significance when someone passes away. Funeral processions in ancient Egypt would
sometimes last several months where every orchestrated event was to appease their gods and

The Sonnet And Early Modern Literature
The beginning of the 1500 s became an important time for the sonnet and early modern literature.
Thomas Wyatt and Henry Howard were the first to introduce the form to England by translating the
sonnets of the overtly influential Italian poet Petrarch, giving a firm foundation for many others
including that of William Shakespeare to expand and contrast. Consisting of fourteen lines, the sonnet
follows a specific rhyme scheme and rhythm. Although seemingly compact, the sonnet is used by
many to express both the thought and emotion of the poet, from this it is evident that although
superficially short in structure, the poet is still able to elaborate to an extent that touches the reader
making it sincere to the reader at first, however as we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many ways the sonnet was as much about the cleverness of the poet as it was about his devotion to
his beloved. From this we can see that the formal cleverness does attract the reader as well as its
elaboration, with this being said the sincerity of the sonnet remains a constant theme in the sonnets.
During Shakespeare s sonnets he makes the sincerity of the sonnets known through his use of illusion,
particularly during sonnet 130 where he expresses a somewhat blunt honesty, this honesty presents the
notion of sincerity in Shakespeare s sonnets, however as we explore them further the insincerity
surrounding the sonnets becomes increasingly more evident. Sonnet 130 is used to shock the
audiences with a surprisingly honest outlook in regards to his love as a way of expressing his view
that her inner beauty is more important to him than any of her bodily features. It could be possible to
argue that perhaps Shakespeare s sonnets are sincere and as an alternative it is Petrarch s sonnets that
remain insincere as a result of the unrealistic expectation and the blindness the narrator feels when
referring to the physical attributes of Laura. Shakespeare is simply demonstrating realism as he speaks
of a real woman and not of a flawless unrealistic woman made from the creation of convention at the
time. Therefore, reality remains greatly significant when we think about perfection, nothing is perfect
in this world but rather we are faced with the concept

Fieldwork Definition
Fieldwork findings: Discussion
Pupil premium:
One core theme that derives from the fieldwork frequently is pupil premium. All respondents were
asked, which policy if any, would you say has been the most effective at promoting educational
attainment among pupils from economically deprived areas? (Question 4). All respondents answered
pupil premium as being the most effective policy. Respondents A, B and D all argued that the extra
funding helped to promote education attainment among pupils from economically deprived
backgrounds through more staff, additional facilities and funds for students. The data drawn from
table 4.2 supports earlier literature on pupil premium.
As previously stated, this extra funding ensures that schools with deprived pupils enroled have enough
resources as tools to succeed in education. Relating back to Table 4.2, respondents A and D both state
funding for staff, this is further supported by Carpenter et al (2013) who argue that the policy
contributes highly to additional staff and teachers have perceived this to be very effective. This is
particularly relevant to aim 3, on the outcomes of policy as additional staff contribute to promoting
educational attainment because it offers deprived pupils with additional support and guidance.
A concern is drawn from the fieldwork by respondent B and C, this ... Show more content on

helping schools to better pupil learning and promote attainment, through additional staff and facilities

implementation process (Spring, Ferguson, Pender, Starin, n.d.). So, to implement my evidence based

They need the pay for the additional time spent on making the follow up calls to the patients every
week. This will be approximately 50 dollars per hour. There is a need for an estimated cost of 10,000
dollars to meet this requirement for about 200 patients for the entire project period. Other than this
expense, there is no other cost incurred in the implementation plan. Diabetic patients can avail the
glucometer and strips at free of cost from their health insurance. This EBP project plan is a part of the
postoperative care. Hence, the nurses can use the hospital telephone, stationery items, and the
computer for free of cost. The hospital administration will allow the use of power point as the purpose
is to give the in service education to the nurses. The leadership will make arrangements for the
presentation development because it serves to improve the service quality. The library and database
access are free of cost for the employees. There is no travel involved in this plan. The estimated cost
to manage an SSI can go up to 30,000 per case (Urban, 2006). Therefore, from the factors mentioned

Electronic Health Record Systems ( Emr )
Currently, Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs) are becoming more common in medical health
facilities. When comparing electronic and paper health records, electronic records have many more
capabilities and benefits. Although paper records have lower initial costs, electronic records easily
accessible, space savers, and in the end can bring in higher profit. Providers who have made the
switch to EHRs have noticed improvement in medical practice management and cost savings
(HeathIT.gov). Dr. Robert E. Hoyt, an internal medicine physician with expertise in health informatics
and clinical research, talks about the benefits and abilities of EHRs, and how healthcare practices and
physicians would advantage from using them. He explains that paper records are extremely limited.
When handwriting a prescription or office notes, illegibility is a classic issue. Other disadvantages of
paper records are that they are expensive to copy, transport and store; easy to destroy; difficult to
analyze and determine who has seen it; and the negative impact on the environment (2015,
practicefusion.com). Efficiency in the office can be done through EHRs. Practices that have already
begun using EHRs have noticed improved management through integrated scheduling systems that
link appointments directly to progress notes, automate coding, and managed claims (HealthIT.gov).

In France, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and their School of Paris friends blended the highly stylized
treatment of the human figure in African sculptures with painting styles derived from the post
Impressionist works of Cézanne and Gauguin. The resulting pictorial flatness, vivid color palette, and
fragmented Cubist shapes helped to define early modernism. While these artists knew nothing of the
original meaning and function of the West and Central African sculptures they encountered, they
instantly recognized the spiritual aspect of the composition and adapted these qualities to their own
efforts to move beyond the naturalism that had defined Western art since the Renaissance.

In my town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, people are making it their life s work to spread awareness about the importance of locally grown food. The Seacoast Growers Association is one organization that has been holding farmers markets since the 1970s. Besides just working to make local food available on the seacoast, ...this Local Food Network also offers great educational and awareness building programs and promotes the importance of clean water, air and land to preserving not just our agricultural heritage, but also our future (Seacoast Growers Association). Seacoastlocal.org focuses on promoting dynamic and sustainable community on the Seacoast through educating about the value of building our local economy and investing in a healthy community, economy and environment (www.seacoastlocal.org). They have chosen five areas on which they would like to make an impact. These areas are: local business, local food, local energy, local capital, and local arts and culture. Seacoastlocal.org is made up of independent businesses, residents of the Seacoast, and nonprofit organizations all working together. They just recently created a project called the 10% Shift. Seacoastlocal found that if five million households in New England shifted 10% more of their existing purchases from non local businesses to Local Independents (locally owned and independent businesses), we would see thousands of new jobs created and billions of dollars of new economic activity in New England, all without raising taxes or spending a dime more than we planned (www.seacoastlocal.org). Slow Food Seacoast is the Seacoast s chapter of the Slow Food movement that is growing throughout the country. It was only started in 2006, but is rapidly gaining members. Emergency management includes four basic phases: mitigation, response, recovery, and preparedness (Maras, 2013). First we will look at mitigation, in this process the focus is to lessen the effects of the emergency. Then maximize the effort to reduce potentials for future disasters. The second step, response, seeks to effectively respond to an emergency in order to save lives, protect property, and meet basic human needs (Maras, 2013). First responders are very critical at this point and their training will save lives in these types of situations. • 5. The Sculpture Plunge Created By Artist Robert Smithson The sculpture Plunge created in 1966, by artist Robert Smithson, currently located at the Denver Art Museum in Denver, Colorado. It is a symmetrical, non objective piece made from a black or dark gray colored steel. Of which cubes are stacked in a stepping motion of four steps, in a repetition of ten, aligned side by side in a series giving the illusion of depth or distance. They give a nesting and receding illusion so they appear to slowly increase and decrease in size, appearing balanced on all sides depending on the angle of which the viewer is seeing it. Lighting plays a factor in the appearance and the color variance. This sculpture has an element of motion, with every step after the first series of steps it appears to move further away. It also has a very interesting appearance, but I am uncertain of how it makes me feel. I am leaning towards an almost anxious feeling, the colors and the length, I am uncertain of the sizes, they appear different, but I cannot tell, thus creating an anxiety. The multiple levels and the length of this piece almost causes me worry, reminding me of a dream, like you are falling and you never really reach the ground. It would also lend to the feelings of agitation for me the same reasons. Colors in this sculpture are of a neutral hue, of blacks. Alternatively, it also appears to be a shade of dark gray. Appearing to be of a flat or a matte finish. I am assuming the change in the colors appearance is more due to the light reflecting on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Deadly Deception Documentary Film Is human experimentation appropriate? Should people be given the right to informed consent if the research could result in possible harm? Is human experimentation in light of the Tuskegee study justified? These are just some of the questions that arose during the presentation of the film Deadly Deception. This film featured the government sponsored Tuskegee experiment and documents this forty year study of untreated syphilis in the black males of Macon County, Alabama. This review will examine the film Deadly Deception in light of the appropriateness of human experimentation and the right for informed consent as well as the different ethical and moral views that may arise as a response to what occurred. Deadly Deception is a documentary about one of the most, if not the most controversial human experimentation studies conducted in America. This film chronicles the Tuskegee experiment which began in 1932 and was carried out within a forty year time span of consistent experimentation. This study s primary goal was to observe the effects of untreated syphilis on the human body over the course of a year for the sole purpose of eradicating the disease, but when it was discovered that a large proportion of the study s population had syphilis, the objectives for the study changed. This study took place in Macon County, Alabama with 600 black male participants, 400 of which were infected with syphilis while the other 200 participants occupied the control (without syphilis). • 7. Tsar Nicholas II’s Abdication was Preventable Tsar Nicholas II s abdication in February 1917 was an event that both he could have prevented, however a number of factors meant it was out of his control. A revolution in Russia was inevitable and Nicolas was hapless to have been crowed a time of liberation; however his personality traits and actions lead to abdication in February 1917. Nicholas lack of political understanding was a constant delimitative factor throughout his rule, especially regarding Russia revolutionary stance, the Russo Japanese War, the 1905 revolution, The October Manifesto, Russia s participation in World War and the influencing factors of his wife and Gerogery Rasputin. Which lead to the question, was it Nicholas alone that led to his abdication in February 1917 or was it is combination of influencing factors? By 1894, Russia was economically and socially backwards, needing a ruler who could guide them to modernisation and reform, without this a revolution is inevitable. Due to its proximity, Westernisers were contrasting their lifestyle to that of the Europeans post industrialisation, identifying clear injustices in their society. Literary critic Belinsky explains Everything great, noble , human and spiritual came up, grew, burst into splendid bloom and brought fourth sumptuous fruit on European soil (after the industrial revolution) Russians never had much to contrast their lifestyle to, however the boom of Europe proposed an idea of an alternation which could be achieved in Russia. The incorporation of avionic systems like auto pilot, navigation, and communication has made the pilot s life easier when flying. Without these advances in the airplane people and/or goods wouldn t able to fly the great distances they do today. The airplane is used all over the world for varying reasons, commercial airline companies such as United, Delta, and Southwest fly passengers all over the world for business or leisure. Analysis of the Brown v Board of Education Case It is imperative to note that the case of Brown v Board of Education is based on a chronological history of the fight towards realization of human rights in the United States. This essay shall begin by discussing the history chronologically and accessing it whilst the essay goes along. It is clear that even though the United States constitution guaranteed equal rights to all men, the issue of slavery prevailed under violation of other human rights. It was only after the Civil War that slave trade was considered unlawful. It was not until 1865 that the Thirteenth Amendment was put into effect to help bring to an end slave trade. Thurgood represented Murray in this decision where he argued that then he was as qualified as other white students who were admitted into the same school. He argued that the criteria used in admitting students was discriminating and the student did not have another institution to pursue his career. He further argued that failure to admit him was going against his right to education. The challenge of the Maryland s decision was before the Baltimore City Court. The Baltimore City Court decided in favor of Maryland. Maryland appealed to the Maryland Court of Appeal and the court upheld the decision. The continued fight by NAACP Legal Defense took the case of Missouri exparte Gaines v. Canada. The Missouri school of law offered Gaines an option of being admitted into the school of the blacks that they intended to build. He was also given an option of attending another school whereby his fee was to be paid by the school. Gaines rejected the said offers. His decision reached the Supreme Court, which held in his favor. • 14. Taking a Look at Molecular Cuisine Molecular cuisine, a relatively new style of cooking, is taking the world by surprise and changing the way food is prepared, cooked and looked at. People are asking a lot of questions such as Is it safe?, What kinds of chemicals are used?, Who decided to start this whole thing?, How did it start, and when?, and What kind of equipment do the cooks use? These are all very good questions and the answers are out there, they just have to be found. Food and science have been combined to create something extraordinary called molecular cuisine. The question that is probably going through the reader s head by now is What is it? Well, molecular cuisine is physics and chemistry applied food to create different flavours, textures and to amaze the five senses. It is also another way of preparing food to provide other ways of cooking and to create more possibilities for cooking food. There are many other names for molecular cuisine such as molecular gastronomy, avant garde cuisine, experimental cuisine, modern cuisine, and modernist cuisine. The now late oxford physicist Nicholas Kurti and French chemist Hervé This came up with the term molecular gastronomy for the new style of cooking/science they started experimenting with back in the 1980 s. People are definitely interested in molecular cuisine but don t know whether it is safe or not. Some of the chemicals that are used in molecular cuisine come from natural origins. It is seen in many characters, but Heathcliff is the most clear example of this theme. His entire life and all of the decisions that he makes are based off of the fact that he is addicted to loving Catherine, and can not get over her. There are many ways in which readers can see that Heathcliff s love is an addiction, rather than a normal love story. Addiction generally begins when a person is looking to fill a void within their life. Heathcliff grew up as an adopted child, and after Mr. Earnshaw died, he had no parental figures in his life. • 16. The Effectiveness Of Brand Placement Purpose This article investigates the effectiveness of brand placement in movies. Brand placement is an advertising technique used by companies to promote their products through a non traditional advertising technique, usually through appearances in film, television, or other media (Product Placement, n.d.). Previous studies have shown that not all brand placements are equally effective. Early studies have shown mixed results regarding the consumer s ability to remember the brand appearing in the film or television. Additionally, placement has shown weak or non existent results towards brand attitude. The authors of this study investigated the interaction of prominence (how prominently the brand is represented in the movie) and plot connection (how well the placement is related to the movie s story line) on actual moviegoer s recognition of brands and their attitude towards them (Dens, DePelsmacker, Wouters, Purnawirawan, 2012). Methodology The authors indicated that their research was one of the first to study the impact of brand placement characteristics on brand attitude, and the effect of brand recognition in this process. They conducted a thorough literature review and developed eight hypotheses regarding the following: the effects of prominence on brand recognition and attitude, the impact of plot connection on brand recognition and attitude, the interaction between prominence and plot connection, and the mediating role of brand recognition in brand attitude ... • 17. The As A Vegetarian Based Or Vegan Diet ( Watters ) Vegetarianism has existed for many centuries, but perhaps the most well known vegetarian was Pythagoras. Pythagoras was a philosopher whom educated much of the world on his ideas in life, one at the time being the abstinence of meat. Pythagoras, along with many of his followers, believed that the consumption of meat could affect the longevity of one s life. Though not everyone believed in Pythagoras opinions, he still had a loyal group of followers. Pythagoras was so widely associated with a meat free diet that the terms vegetarian was not even in use until 1847, when the term pythagorean was changed to vegetarian (Avey). Today, there are 16 million people in America who follow a vegetarian based or vegan diet (Watters). There is a common misconception that the choice to become a vegetarian is based only on a person s love for animals, but there are many other benefits to being a vegetarian. Pythagoras and his followers gave many of the same arguments that people who abstain from meat today support; for example, Pythagoras had the belief that there was a majority of added health benefits from a meatless diet (Avey). Vegetarianism can decrease the risk of cancer along with other health concerns, can solve problems the world presently faces, such as world hunger and animal cruelty and can have positive effects on the environment such as pollution reduction and overgrazing reduction. • 18. The Significance Of Love In Those Winter Sundays, By... Love is a powerful motivator in the world. While love isn t tangible, it is all around us in the world. In our hearts or in others it is rare to find a place lacking in it. As such, it is not hard to presume that love too, is a common occurrence in prose. For many, love may consume their entire being: their thoughts, their actions and their time. For them it is a duty an obligation an office that must be fulfilled. Such is the case in Robert Hayden s poem Those Winter Sundays, Hayden uses the father and the speaker as a tangible embodiment of how unrequited and harsh love can be. Hayden tells us more in what he doesn t say then what he says or as Johnson says, for everything the poem says, there is something else that remains unspoken (Johnson). This premise is true throughout all the poem and becomes quite apparent if the agent s (the father s) actions are put under scrutiny. Unfortunately, it can be hard to determine the significance behind the actions without context. For example, Sunday too my father got up early, with just a glancing look it seems to be a kind action, but nothing showing true devotion and love (Hayden). Despite this, one must recognize that the Hayden is implying that the father got up on early on other days as well as Sunday. To make this act even more impressionable Landau explains that, Sunday has been regarded as a day of rest, but the speaker s father, trapped in his role as father, is not able to observe this convention (Landau). As stated earlier, the wise angels were not able to discover the true identity of Satan. Eve is, therefore, destined to do the same. Although the narrator of the poem and God never discuss the true nature of Eve, Adam perceives her as a beautiful but inferior in the mind/and inward faculties (Paradise Lost, 7.541 542). Regardless of her true nature, it is clear that both Adam and Eve do not possess the equivalent amount of knowledge as the angels. After Raphael relates the story of Satan s rebellion, Adam with his consorted Eve... was fill d/With...deep Muse to hear/Of things so high and strange, things to their thought/So unimaginable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conversation led the two to have thoughts that they would never have had otherwise. But, interestingly, Adam and Eve gain more than just new thoughts, they also gain Muse. Muse goes a step beyond simple thoughts, suggesting profound meditation (OED). In other words, they become entranced by the new knowledge that they received; knowledge that was not available to them beforehand. Yet, the word Muse has another meaning that further complicates the impression of ignorance for Eve. A muse is also each of the nine goddesses regarded as presiding over and inspiring learning (OED). Firstly, by referring to goddesses the term introduces a feminine connotation. This term, therefore, relates more to Eve than it does to Adam, regardless of the fact that both are present when Raphael delivers his message. According to the meaning of this term, Eve not only learns, but she instigates learning. She not only seeks knowledge, but she also advocates gaining it. Eve is, therefore, not ignorant nor does she seek ignorance. Instead, she is left dumbfounded by the knowledge she receives and she desires to seek ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Satire And Corruption In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Chaucer uses satirization in the descriptions of the characters in the General Prologue of The Canterbury Tales to reveal the corruption in the Church that was widespread in society during the 14th century. Manny members of the church used their positions for the personal gain of themselves. This can be seen in the Prologue when he describes these characters. Chaucer shows us through the satirization of several characters, the corruptness of the church of England and the lust/sexual corruption through the common people. In the Prologue and her tale we get to see the Wife of Baths views and we get to see how she is as a person. She has plenty of experience in the art of virginity, marriage and love because she s been married five times and knows that her experience is better than the knowledge from books. She isn t a traditional woman of that time, she s not ashamed of her actions or the fact she s been married more than the usual. She takes her experience with all of the men she s been with more serious than the things people say that are inexperienced in love. Geoffrey Chaucer portrays the Wife of Bath as a promiscuous whore, crude, and hypocritical. On the other hand she is comical, fearless, and radical. She is proud of everything she s done in her life and the fact that she has had five husbands does not embarrass her or shame her in any way. She believes in her way of living and thoroughly supports it with verses from the bible. That is satirical because she is mocking women s repression with a piece of literature that has been used by men for centuries to justify women s oppression. She questions the fact that the bible talks about women, staying a virgin and only marrying once but realizes, that many men in the bible had multiple wives and marriages. ...Lamech and his bigamye? I woot wel Abroaham was an holy man, And Jacob eek, as fer as evere I can, And eech of hadde wives mo than two, And many another holy man also. (118) Chaucer uses irony and satire to questions the church s maltreatment of women by giving the Wife of Bath the opportunity to speak freely about marriage, sex and the desires of women. Chaucer uses complex character development to describe the Wife of Bath as a gap toothed, promiscuous, witty, voluptuous woman who boasts about the fact she lies, cheats, and deceives her husbands, she shows no remorse for the men she treats this way. • 28. The Sonnet And Early Modern Literature The beginning of the 1500 s became an important time for the sonnet and early modern literature. Thomas Wyatt and Henry Howard were the first to introduce the form to England by translating the sonnets of the overtly influential Italian poet Petrarch, giving a firm foundation for many others including that of William Shakespeare to expand and contrast. Consisting of fourteen lines, the sonnet follows a specific rhyme scheme and rhythm. Although seemingly compact, the sonnet is used by many to express both the thought and emotion of the poet, from this it is evident that although superficially short in structure, the poet is still able to elaborate to an extent that touches the reader making it sincere to the reader at first, however as we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many ways the sonnet was as much about the cleverness of the poet as it was about his devotion to his beloved. From this we can see that the formal cleverness does attract the reader as well as its elaboration, with this being said the sincerity of the sonnet remains a constant theme in the sonnets. During Shakespeare s sonnets he makes the sincerity of the sonnets known through his use of illusion, particularly during sonnet 130 where he expresses a somewhat blunt honesty, this honesty presents the notion of sincerity in Shakespeare s sonnets, however as we explore them further the insincerity surrounding the sonnets becomes increasingly more evident. Sonnet 130 is used to shock the audiences with a surprisingly honest outlook in regards to his love as a way of expressing his view that her inner beauty is more important to him than any of her bodily features. It could be possible to argue that perhaps Shakespeare s sonnets are sincere and as an alternative it is Petrarch s sonnets that remain insincere as a result of the unrealistic expectation and the blindness the narrator feels when referring to the physical attributes of Laura. Shakespeare is simply demonstrating realism as he speaks of a real woman and not of a flawless unrealistic woman made from the creation of convention at the time. Therefore, reality remains greatly significant when we think about perfection, nothing is perfect in this world but rather we are faced with the concept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All respondents answered pupil premium as being the most effective policy. Respondents A, B and D all argued that the extra funding helped to promote education attainment among pupils from economically deprived backgrounds through more staff, additional facilities and funds for students. When comparing electronic and paper health records, electronic records have many more capabilities and benefits. Although paper records have lower initial costs, electronic records easily accessible, space savers, and in the end can bring in higher profit. Providers who have made the switch to EHRs have noticed improvement in medical practice management and cost savings (HeathIT.gov). Dr. Robert E. Hoyt, an internal medicine physician with expertise in health informatics and clinical research, talks about the benefits and abilities of EHRs, and how healthcare practices and physicians would advantage from using them. He explains that paper records are extremely limited. When handwriting a prescription or office notes, illegibility is a classic issue. Other disadvantages of paper records are that they are expensive to copy, transport and store; easy to destroy; difficult to analyze and determine who has seen it; and the negative impact on the environment (2015, practicefusion.com).
