Brief Bio of The Stooges
When you think of The Stooges what s the first thought that pops into your head? Probably a 50
year old, prune like, Iggy Pop running around like a mad yoke to the video for Lust For Life from
the Trainspotting soundtrack. That s okay. I m here to tell you about the original Proto Punk (a
nascent predecessor of punk) band, the intense, raucous and truly bizarre, The Stooges. Without this
band would rock music have turned out the same way we know it? Would the evolution of punk
vary from what we now know it? Many artists credit The Stooges as an influence to them, whether
they were punk artists or artists that adopted the punk ethos, artists such as The Sex Pistols,
Nirvana, David Bowie, Kiss, The Clash and many, many more. The Stooges staggering live shows
were explosive, frightening and unforgettable, never failing to make an impression, leaving
audiences in a daze. With songs about sex, working class alienation, self loathing and the
commonality of the current consciousness , I believe the stooges truly were ahead of their time.
Iggy Pophas stated his and the Stooges music to be a Dionysian art form , in that it is based on
chaos and appeals to the emotions and instincts.
When asked about the Stooges chaotically mezmerising live shows, frontman Iggy Pop said The
demons didn t show up until I started going out live and playing with them (The Stooges)... The
demon says Fuck you, I don t wanna be like you, I don t wanna live like you, I don t believe any of

Congressional Era Of Reconstruction During Post Civil War...
Failure is simply an opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.
Henry Ford. This was the Southern optimist s view of what the results of post Civil War
Reconstruction could be. Unfortunately, once the Congressional era of Reconstruction began, this
view was squandered under federal punishment of the South. This policy led to strained relations
between Congress and the ex Confederate states. The difference of opinion was over how harshly
the South should be punished for leaving the Union. The South wanted to be readmitted with as
little friction as possible, so they sided with the Democrats, like Robert E. Lee, and Moderate
Republicans. Congress on the other hand, being mostly controlled by Radical Republicans, believed

One explicit difference of policy was over the use of troops to put the South into military
districts that were under martial law and putting Northern Generals over Southern troops. As
historian S. Chase said in the Democratic National Committee of 1873 There should have been
as little military government as possible. This policy was even more harshly debated because
these troops were there to enforce a law that the Southerners were not ever able to vote on until
they were forced to vote for it if they wanted to rejoin the United States, which they had to do
because they lost the Civil War. This force, both physically and ideologically, seemed very out of
place in a country that claimed to be the land of the free, and even more out of place since it was a
Democracy. This ideological difference between Southerners and Congress has been a major point
of contention in discussions about Reconstruction policy since it was put into practice.
Another point of policy disagreement can be seen in how representation in the South would be
handled. In accordance with Congressional Reconstruction, certain classes of ex Confederates,
such as the class that Robert E. Lee was in, were excluded from being granted their suffrage . This
was an outrage to Southerners for two reasons. The first is that the certain classes being exempted
from regaining their suffrage were the highest part of the upper class and the people of high rank
from the ex Confederate

Short Essay On Germany
Germany is known to be one of the largest and most powerful economies in the world. It is located
in Central and Western Europe, and stretches along the Baltic and North Seas. The country covers a
total of 357,022 sq km, 348,672 sq km with land and 8,350 sq km with water. Germany shares
borders with nine other countries, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Czech
Republic, Austria, Belgium, and The Netherlands. Germanyis the seventh largest country in Europe,
and the 62nd largest in the world (CIA World Factbook, 2016). The capital of Germany is Berlin,

economy that contribute to the nation s GDP.
The foundation of the German banking system is well developed. Germany was the first bureau in
Europe, and joined the World Bank in 1952. Banks in Germany are what holds the country s
investment capital and are controlled by universal banks, which are able to offer a variety of
banking, and savings. In addition, the universal banks make up three fourths of total business, and
play as shareholders in the country s industrial firm. Deutsche Bundesbank is the central bank of
Germany and its obligation is to oversee economic growth, develop the banking and financial
system and stability in the economy. The central bank is who funds the government, and sets in
motion the investment in the public sector. With the desire of economic growth, the central bank
should attempt to maintain internal price stability, by adopting different interest rates

Social Skills And Technical Education
This study investigated social skills and problem behaviors of general and special education career
and technical education students using the Social Skills Rating System instrument (SSRS). In
addition, the study compared self reported social skill ratings of career and technical education
students with and without disabilities, and compared the teachers and employers ratings of career
and technical educationstudents social skills and problem behaviors.
The research questions addressed in this study were as follows:
1.Did the content analysis of the special education students individual transition plans (ITPs) reveal
social skills and problem behaviors?
2.Did the mean social skill score for the general education students significantly higher than the
mean social skill score for the special education students?
3.Did employers and teachers in career and technical education differ significantly in their social
skills and problem behavior ratings of general education students?
4.Did employers and teachers in career and technical education differ significantly in their social
skills and problem behavior ratings of special education students?

Is Evolution Theory True
Evolution theory is not true because it gives a vague explanation of how the world developed to
be what it is today and it also fails to explain why it is no longer going on today. As absurd as it is
there are people in the world today who believe it majority of them being atheist. There have been
attempts to dethrone Godfrom His rightful position as a creator and at the helm of this is evolution
theory. The bible clearly states that the world is 6,000 years today but when you read scientific
articles it will tell you the world has been in existence for billions of years. There are mysteries in
nature that show that God exists and how He affects our daily life. For instance, the electrifying eel
can generate up to 600 Volts of electrical

We Are Fascinated By Robots
People are fascinated by robots. Movies for many years have explored themes of humanity and
artificial intelligence, and at what point those two mix. Perhaps what is so interesting about these
films is the question humans have been asking themselves for thousands of years, what makes
something human? Or even, What makes someone sentient ? It s an intriguing thought. The movie,
I, Robot, asks this question, but it also explores something called the Three Laws , and several
moral theories. While perhaps it doesn t answer any of the queries it brings up, the film is at the
very least, curious and thought provoking. The movie I, Robot is set in the vaguely near future
where personal robots have been integrated into society. These robots are in most every household,
like the smart phones of today, and they are being designed to look increasingly human. While most
people in the movie consider these robots as laptops or iPods that is, a piece of machinery that
could do more harm or betray you than a toaster could a Detective Spooner regards them with
suspicion. Because of an car crash where a robot rescued him instead of a young girl, as the robot
calculated Spooner had a greater chance of survival, the Detective distrusts all robots. Throughout
the film, he is ridiculed for believing that robots could be dangerous. They are all programmed with
the Three Laws. Surely, with the Laws in place, nothing can go wrong.
Spooner then meets a robot called Sonny, who

To what extent can I determine my own destiny Essays
To what extent can I determine my own destiny? Discuss in the light of theories, ideas and research
encountered in the course.
Do I act as I do through choice or are my actions influenced by factors beyond our control? This
uncertainty has concerned psychologists for decades, consequently giving rise to the Autonomy
versus Determinism debate. By definition, autonomy is the belief that we are free to make
decisions and thus control all of our actions, however determinism contradicts this view by
suggesting that all of our actions are entirely determined by the external and internal forces
operating on them. Nowadays It is now commonly documented by most psychologists that it is a
combination of both autonomy and determinism that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Stevens3 1996:169) The Langer and Rodin study (1976) (Lalljee 1996:121) based in an
American nursing home shows the difference between two groups of elderly residents, those that
were given the chance to be autonomous were found that being in control made a critical
difference to their well being and longevity. However the residents that believed their well being
was reliant on the nursing staff were found to be less happy and their mortality rate was higher.
This highlights the fact that to have a happy life no matter what age we need to be autonomous.
Those in favour of determinism believe that behaviour is the product of internal or external forces
over which we have no control. As a result, human behaviour is arranged and therefore determined.
This idea is similar to that of scientific methods e.g. experiments. In an experiment we have the
ability to manipulate the variables, according to determinism all behaviour is causal, by this we
sense that the determinist feels we have the opportunity of controlling all human behaviour.
Supporting the determinist view is the biological approach, according to biological social
psychologists our behaviour is solely determined by our biological systems, they argue that we are
genetically determined. Cox and Klinger 1988 (Toates 1996:55)

Queen Lili uokalani Essay example
Queen Lili uokalani had ambitious plans for the nation of Hawaii, and wanted to see the rightful
power of the monarch restored. Even though she was doing what she thought was best for the
people of Hawaii, her dream was never meant to be. She would become known as the last queen
ever to reign over the Hawaiian Islands.
In the beginning, Hawaii was unknown to any humans. Polynesians eventually came across its
islands, and decided to make it their home. In the early days, each island was ruled by a chief, and
many times the islands were in conflict with each other. Centuries like this passed, but then in 1782,
[Queen Lili uokalani s] cousin Kamehameha set out to conquer and unite the islands . Thirteen

Lili uokalani found the school food tasteless and the portions too small. (Guzzetti 14)
Not only did the Cookes teach the children American ways, but they also taught them Christian
beliefs, making them abandon their polytheistic religious views. Lili uokalani also learned how
to speak English at the school which became an asset to her when she was later to become
queen. She studied music as well, and down the road she became a renowned Hawaiian singer
and songwriter. In the mid 1880 s she published the song Aloha Oe meaning Farewell to Thee,
which became one of the most famous pieces of music ever written in Hawaii. (Guzzetti 14, 15,
22, 23)
Aloha Oe did not give Lili uokalani all of her fame. What did, of course, was the fact that she
became a queen. The monarchy began with Kamehameha s conquering and uniting of all the
Hawaiian Islands (Guzzetti 10). After Kamehameha s death in 1819, his son, Liholiho assumed the
title Kamehameha II. During a trip to London to visit the King of England in the summer of 1824,
Kamehameha II and his wife, Queen Kamamalu contracted the measles and both died.

Evolution of Populism and La Moral from Modernization...
Evolution of Populism and La Moral from Modernization
Populism refers to the political philosophy that pits the downtrodden masses against the apathetic
ruling elite. La Moral refers to the conformity to the code of conduct set by employers.
Modernization is the transformation from a traditional, rural society that primarily relies on
agriculture to an urban, industrialized society. The emergence and flourishing of modern society
has been inextricably linked with the development of industries, infrastructure and cities.
Sociologists and political analysts agree that urbanization and industrialization were the main
causes of populism in Latin America. (Conniff and Roberts 6)

The old traditional leaders did not have the charisma, charm and skill that were needed. They had
only served as appointees and they came from urban areas. They could therefore not identify with
the struggles of the lower and middle class population. The leaders needed to show a more humane
aspect of the government: a government that was concerned about the welfare of its citizens rather
than the government which was composed of self serving individuals who were only interested in
profiting from them. Such leaders arose and stepped out to fill the political vacuum. Their style and
political policies, later named Populism , were diametrically different from those of the traditional
rulers.
Populism gained traction as a response to the increasingly growing demography of working class
and urban lower middle class who were susceptible to political mobilization. La Moral in Columbia
came into effect because the political stalwarts at the time were averse to democratic governance
and thus resisted the democratization process. The populism frenzy peaked in the late 1950 s. The
leaders at the time campaigned for office in line with populist fashion. These politicians were
flamboyant in their election campaigns. They would sway the masses and newly minted voters into
accepting their political ideologies and manifestos.
The middle class and the poor looked to these

In this method, the challenges from that emanated from the previous methods are solved through
the development of a quicker way that solves the same problems in a short duration. The goal of the
project was to obtain an easier methodology that can help in solving systems of eigen problems. In
particular the study aimed at obtaining anything that solve a collection of problems. The new
methodology adopted not only maintains the solution requirements but also introduces systematic
improvability. Through the new insights added to the new method which distinguishes it from the
previous methodologies, the required accuracy coupled with a fewer degree of freedom can be
achieved. Methodology and key results The methodology surrounds the solution of a quantum
mechanical Schrodinger equation for large complex systems such as insulating or metallic
materials at either ambient or extreme conditions. The wave equation is first modified in the form
of Kohn Sham equation. The solution is then derived from the assumption that there is a linear
combination of piecewise polynomials. The formulation of the Schrodinger problem within the
infinite crystal is then reduced using the boundary value problem within the confines of a unit finite
cell which is then extended to the crystal potential which consists of an array of atoms. The
formulation showed that for higher derivatives of the first order, there exist finite discontinuities at

Women s Roles In Ancient Egypt

The Life of Women in Ancient Egypt One of Ancient Egypt s greatest values was ma at. Which is
the concept of harmony and balance in all aspects of one s life. Women in Ancient Egypt could do
almost everything a man could do. Their rights were more depended on their class instead of their
sex. Women could marry whoever they chose and weren t forced. They could also divorce.
Anyways, women in Ancient Egypt broke so many stereotypes. There were goddesses who s
stories brought strength to women. There was also incredible women who took on the most
important role she could take, the God s Wife of Amun. Women could also be priests, doctors,
concubines, and so much more. Of course there was still many women working as bakers, weavers,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Layered Security And...
It is not uncommon to find various organizations complaining about security flaws in their
information systems. Failing to prevent or mitigate the security flaws may lead to system
breakdown, errors, and loss of crucial information. This is why it is important for users of
information systems to find the right solutions that can help counter and mitigate securityflaws. One
common problem with security flaws connected with information systems or networks is that the
security flaws occur in multiples. Technological advances have, fortunately, made it possible for
people and organizations to prevent and detect such security flaws using security strategies. Layered
Security and Defense in Depth are two strategies that can help prevent attacks and protect
information systems against security flaws. The two strategies are similar but are based on
completely two different concepts. This paper compares and contrasts the Layered Security and
Defense in Depth Strategies by explaining how each of the two functions. Additionally, the paper
includes an explanation about the advantages and disadvantages of the two strategies.
Layered Security refers to the use of a collection of or various tools to cover the gaps in security
not covered by other tools. Layered Security operates on one principle in that there is no silver
bullet when protecting networks or computers (Chatterjee, Hora, Rosoff, 2015). This means that
there is no single method of making systems 100 percent safe; instead,

Introvert Dog and Cat. Coffee and Tea. Great Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye. Everyone knows
there are two types of people in the world. What are they? . This question is quite easy to answer
and refers to human behavioural quirks and nature, Introverts and Extroverts. Surrounding the two
vague types are many stereotypes, but this will be addressing and explaining what it truly means
to be an Introvert. Introverts are typically more complex characters as a whole compared to
Extroverts, the dynamics between the two already a major difference. When a person hears
Introvert they think Alone , Hates People , Pessimist and Boring , whilst thinking Extroverts, on the
other hand, as Happy , Friendly , Optimists , and Fun two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But when Introverts give themselves permission to seek the solitude they crave, life becomes
lighter and better. Social situations are more bearable. Even small talk is easier to endure when
they ve fortified themselves with solitude. Introverts are known for being quiet, another
universal quirk. Introverts are written economists suffering in a world of verbal hodgepodge.
Unfortunately, this has lead to awkward confrontations like Are you shy? or Why are you so
quiet? . Now it s time to debunk the typical Introvert myths. The most common one is that being
Introverted means you re shy, and often use the two words interchangeably. Both introverts and
shy people tend to avoid socializing at times, but they do so for different reasons. Introverts
often stay on the sidelines at social events because socializing drains their energy, whilst shy
people tend to avoid going to unnecessary social events at all because of their fear of the
unknown. Instead of worrying about being drained, they re concerned about making a mess of
themselves or being rejected / judged. The next most common is that Introverts are socially
awkward. People assume that because you are Introverted, you don t know how to behave or act
socially. Many introverts have superior social skills. They are confident, assertive, and interesting
to talk to. People don t realize this because they assume everyone with good social skills is an
extrovert.

Disadvantages Of The Fptp Electoral System
1.The MP for my area is Gavin Newlands. The MSP for the constituency is George Adam. The
MSP s for the region are Neil Bibby, Mary Fee, Maurice Corry, Jamie Greene, Maurice Golden,
Ross Greer and Kenneth Macintosh. 2.Gavin Newlands, who is the MP was elected under the
First Past the post electoral system. The MSP s were elected under PR system, called Additional
Member System. 3.There are two types of electoral systems which are First Past the Post (FPTP)
and Proportional Representation (PR). FPTP is used to elect the MPs to gain seats in the UK
parliament. The one who gets the majority of the votes wins. PR is a form of an electoral
system. This decides the fact that, on the basis of the number of votes that have been made,
must correspond on the seats they will receive. This ensures that the votes are all counted for.
There are different types of systems under PR too such as, STV and AMS The advantages of
FPTP are that it is easily understood by voter when they are placing a vote. This is because it is
simple and easy to use. This means that the candidate who gets the most votes wins and they
only have to put a cross next to the candidate of their choice which keeps it very simple. Another
advantage is that the results of the elections are produced very quickly. The votes are counted
for each of the candidates in a constituency and whoever gets the most votes wins. This is a
reasonably quick process with the whole election results getting counted the next day. One
disadvantage of using the FPTP system is that it does not produce a proportional result. This
means that the % of votes received using FPTP does not compare with the % of seats gained.
This is unfair and means that the winners are over represented. Another disadvantage of FPTP is
that it can result in a lot of wasted votes. This means that as it is the person with the most votes
that wins, all the other votes are discarded, and individuals do not have their votes heard. An
advantage of PR is that, no votes are wasted, unlike FPTP. All the votes under PR system are
counted and taken into consideration. It is more proportional as the number of seats do reflect on
the number of votes that were put in for each party. Another advantage is

Mutiny In Romeo And Juliet

observing the prefix and therefore understanding the meaning of the word. Civil In this particular

This depression lead many to say that gold was inadequate to use in a capitalist system. Many
countries stayed with the gold system thinking they could patch up the gold standard, as it had
worked perfectly before World War I and it was still the most advanced economic policy to date,
so many countries stayed on the gold standard. What many countries didn t expect, which would
lead to the downfall of the gold standard, was World War II.
After World War II, the Bretton Woods Agreement established the gold standard and two support
institutions called the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. This would lead
to a shift, away from the gold standard, to more relaxed systems. The idea of currency purely
backed by gold was slowly being shifted to a trust based currency. These institutions purpose was
to regulate the economies by injecting or taking money in a process called sterilization.
Sterilization is to protect certain countries from a going bankrupt. If a country goes bankrupt, it

Pros And Cons Of Enhancing Competitive Markets
Increasing Competition There is no such thing as free markets . That is why I call them
competitive markets . All real markets are political institutions in which some form of market
masters, usually government, regulate economic competition among different groups within a
society. On August 31st 1910 Republican Theodore Roosevelt delivered a fiery speech in
Kansas. The former president celebrated the extraordinary new commercial power but also gave
warning that America s industrial economy had been taken over by a handful of corporate giants
that were generating an unparalleled wealth for a small number of people are exercising a
growing control over America s politics. Roosevelt cautioned that the county founded on the
principle of equal opportunity was in danger of becoming a land of corporate privilege, and

barriers to the formation of new businesses thereby encouraging entrepreneurship. The government
can also play a key role in entrepreneurship by improving the environment for entry and operations.
All government policies need to limit hindering incentives, initiative, innovation, productivity,
investment, research and development. The government always needs to continually simplify tax

Sometimes going to town to buy groceries can be a hassle, wether it be due to traffic getting to

it is so nice and convenient to have the C Store on the USI campus. The only problem with the C
Store is that it is not the cheapest place to buy groceries, and they do not have the widest of

normally one would just forget what they were making and eat something else, but with the C

What Is The Literary Value Of Harry Potter Dystopian Culture
Like most kids, I was dreaming of receiving an acceptance letter from Hogwarts to whisk me

The Theory Of Legitimacy Of Political Authority Essay
Through the channels of social change, there are truly only two fundamental ways to produce
revolution: through either working with the system or directly contrasting the system. Historically,
we can see the recurrence of both parties at the heart of action. While the point of deliberation
could be an individual, a group, a governing body, or an enterprise, social forces work to see justice
is properly met. This belief has withstood varying philosophical and structural systemic changes.
Additionally, it is compliant with a degree of political participation. Modernly, the contractarianism
that exists, the theory of legitimacy of political authority (Cudd, 2000), demands a level of
democracy and tolerance. Many modern states rely upon a social contract to function. As
individuals within these states seek stability, they rationalize that maintaining a certain level of
morality is in their best interest, thus consenting to a government. If a group within any state
contests any of the contractual obligations, a political or social movement serves to begin dialogue
and negotiation. To be clear, many social movements take the form of grassroots organizing, or
community organizing, which refers to the collective action of the part of a community or group in
order to effect change at the local, regional, national, or international level. They empower
communities whose aims can range from encouraging political conversation to increasing mass
participation in politics. Despite

where the character Cinderellagoes through so much with the stepsisters and stepmother and end up

The Influence of Mythology on Literature and Society Essay
The Influence of Mythology on Literature and Society
Edith Hamilton is the author of the book Mythology. This book is about the Mythology of the
Romans and Greeks through her eyes and the way she interprets it. In the beginning of the book
Hamilton writes an introduction to Classical Mythology and how, and why it came about. She
starts off by writing that Greek and Roman Mythology is meant to show us how people felt about
the human race and about where they came from many years ago. She points out that Mythology
describes the Earth when it was young and people cared for the Earth more than today. This is
true, because in today?s world not many people are caring about the Earth and its going by us fast.
She also points out that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example would be how the Egyptian god?s have different body parts with other bodies and the
Greek gods are humans. Hamilton states that the Egyptians made gods they thought up and made
them in a way that no one has seen before. The Greeks therefore made their gods in there own
image. That made it easier for them to understand them and know how they act. The major point
Hamilton is showing in this introduction is that Mythology is a new to look at life and to
understand it under a different light. Another point she states is that Greek Mythology it?s self, is
so unique that it showed extreme beauty yet fear at that same time. The gods were not to be
completely feared, but respected to the point where you didn?t anger them. Greek Mythology is
also unique, because it doesn?t have many of the things that are in most religion or folklore.
Hamilton states that Greek Mythology didn?t contain Magic or Witches, and in reality didn?t fear
the dead, they actually pitied the dead. Hamilton?s main point in this whole introduction is that
Mythology itself is completely and totally different from any other religion or folklore ever.
Mythology was written in such a beautiful way that upon reading it, it seems real and it begins to
take shape. She is also saying that Greek Mythology was in a way different than normal Mythology
and therefore changed the face of Mythology forever.

What Is A Supervisor Essay
As being a previous supervisor, I have had times where I ran into this issue. When a supervisor I
would notice at times that it can be hard to make sure that a team is still motivated if they are self
directed. Self directed meaning is to be under one s own control. http://www.thefreedictionary.com

when establishing a self direct and high performance team. In a high performance team it is
necessary that there is trust. Even as high performance team they still need some assistance from

Motivation requires energy, and the manager of a company must be able to communicate with
the different diversities within the team and keep the team going down the right path. Statistics
say that high trusted teams created openness and create a positive atmosphere and better
performance. Another area that could cause a supervisor to have some issues with a high
performance team is to keep the team open minded. High performance team may run into the
process where they are not willing to listen to other team members opinion. This could cause the
vision to not be seen or, it can cause the company to not meet the objective because of a close
minded mentality. We discussed what areas may require more opportunities for coaching but,
what characteristics are good to have when managing a high performance team. In a self
managing team, some of the better aspects are that they can do whatever task they are given
without the need to have a supervisor looking over them. They do not need to be micromanaged.
High performance team can be self motivated do what is needed to complete the project given to
them. The team members on this type of team keep everyone responsible, for their part of the
vision in the company. The trust that the team members have for each other is what helps create
such success. They have specific set knowledge and skills which can be utilized to continually be

The enduring fascination for people is that they want law to be flexible in the matter of copyright.
This was clearly expressed by Ed Mayo, Chief Executive of Consumer Focus quoting UK
copyright law is the oldest, but also the most out of date. Before addressing the question it s
important to look at the history and definition of UK Copyrightlaw. It has grown from this
beginning to form the main legal basis for the international publishing industry, which contributes

What Is An Example Of Prescriptive Regulation
A prescriptive regulation is where the regulating authority defines explicitly how a task is to be
undertaken. It informs exactly what is to be done and it needs the industries to demonstrate that
they have strictly adhered to the prescribed steps.
A goal setting regulation on the other hand keeps the end goal or objective in mind and leaves the
method used to achieve that to the industries. Here, the industries have the freedom to arrive at the
goal using any way they see fit, as long as they demonstrate that the end goal has been reached.
To clearly see the difference between these two contrasting regulations, we can look at some
examples of each
Examples of prescriptive regulation
Footings for masonry chimneys shall be constructed of concrete or solid masonry at least 12
inches (305mm) thick and shall extend at least 6 inches (152mm) beyond the face of the
foundation or support wall on all sides. Footings shall be founded on natural undisturbed earth or
engineered fill below frost depth. In areas not subject to freezing, footings shall be at least 12
inches (305mm) below finished grade 1
Thru bolts shall have a diameter of 12 . Pilot holes for thru bolts shall be 1732 to 916 in diameter.
Thru bolts require washers at the bolt head and nut. 2
Here, we can see that the regulations clearly states how the footings for chimneys should be built in
the first case and the diameter of thru bolts in the latter. Anything apart from this specification will

The Impact of Advertising on Perceived Gender Roles
The role and function of advertising is a debatable one. Most would argue that since it is not
intended to be a governmental aid in ensuring and creating opportunities for equality, we are unable
to expect such efforts to be made within this industry. Advertisers have the job of selling, to
persuade and increase consumption as to satisfy the capitalist s pockets. The play on social injustice
often associated with this particular industry makes it relevant to question it though. Male
dominance in this area is evident, but are we not even to view men and women as equal in terms of
being potential consumers?
As illustrated by Spurlock and this piece of research, it is extremely difficult to not involve
advertisement in vocabulary and certain approaches to societal understanding. The present branding
culture is apparent and it is close to impossible to not have an opinion regarding this matter, which
incidentally causes discussion and debate, which in turn furthers the word of mouth usage of brands.
The impact of advertising on perceived gender roles is quite evident, and with plenty of
consequences, some of which we might not yet have experienced the full effect of. It is important
to remember that with a socialized consumer identity, the choices we make are not individual ones,
but is initiated by the manipulative skills of others . The high extent of advertisement we are put
through on a daily basis makes it very difficult to reflect upon the idea of choices and individual

the self administered Internet survey. This kind of survey is probably the cheapest survey for the
person collecting data. It involves minimum personnel and low cost as compared with other
methods. Since 73% of American households are actively using the Internet, an Internet survey
would be the best idea to cover a large location fact while conserving energy, money, and time
(Cooper, Schindler, 2008). Internet survey s can also give one access to graphs, charts and
percentages automatically. Also, the Internet survey will be able to give one an idea of the
customer s attitude and perception of the Remington s Restaurant. By using secondary information
one would be able to see general information such as, what the demographic is of the average family
is in the area, what is the general income, and how many times the family eats at restaurant in a
week. By shifting the focus off of the Remington s Restaurant and on to the genre of restaurants the
Remington s Restaurant is associated with would dilute the information the Remington s

Modernism In Modern Poetry
Modernism by definition is a style or movement in the arts that aims to depart significantly from
classical and traditional forms . A movement which is undoubtedly a reflection of the fragmented
and collapsing Europe at the beginning of the 20th century, Modernism was a reaction to the world
in which it existed. Subsequent to the overly imaginative and emotive era of Victorianism,
Modernismwas indeed a dramatic movement away from the changing values and ideas of the
Victorian world. What Modernist Literature essentially evoked in its audience was a sense of
dissolution with the world, a world which it believed held traditions in literature, art, science,
religion, among countless others, which were seen as incompatible with the current social... Show

High Modernist Art was essentially born out of a conflated sense of both apocalyptic
hopelessness following The Great War, but also a desperate sense of hopefulness for the future.
What is created from this hope is this panicky search for distraction or higher meaning which we
see quite evidently in The Waste Land . One such section of the poem which demonstrates this
search for meaning is in the first section The Burial of the Dead . Switching between a number
of different narrators, this first section addresses much of the aforementioned devastation and
destruction caused after World War One and the search for meaning which followed it.
Beginning with an aristocratic voice, Eliot uses the first speaker to conjure up a set of
memories from a pre war era, set perhaps in the Austro Hungarian Empire with the speaker
bearing some Royal patronage And when we were children, staying at the arch duke s, My
cousin s . Where this search for meaning is seen here is in the speakers overall disillusionment
with a world so far detached from what they had previously existed in. What was once a time
which kept us warm, covering Earth in forgetful snow, feeding a little life with dried tubers , now
only bears bleakness and severity, made clear through the poem s opening line April is the cruellest
month . The speaker is no doubt lost in a world

hard to provide for her. Raising Grace is their primary goal, and later in their lives, they take it a
step further and move to America to provide better opportunities for Grace. Having a child in Haiti
forces Grace s parents to view Haiti differently than before. Rather than just surviving and making
ends meet they also have to address that they are going to raise a child in the poor conditions
around them. This motivates her parents to work harder and eventually move to provide better
opportunities for their children. Night Women is another story that shows how family is an
important motivator. The narrator of this story resorts to prostitution to provide for her son.

Summery and Response of Webster’s Article on Archeology in...
In Webster s article, she talks about the different things that make Beowulf the poem what it is
today. In her article she talks about different things like swords, shields, halls, and cultures. She
takes these subjects and talks about where they originated and why they are in the poem. She takes
the poem and breaks it down into the different subjects, and shows the readerhow they add to the
texture of the poem. Webster ends her article by stating that the poem would not be what it was
today without these subjects, and these subjects were the reason that Beowulfhas so much texture.
The author, in this case Leslie Webster, did a very good job of persuading the readers that these
subjects were the only things that brought texture to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes it easier for the reader to understand and comprehend what she is saying. When
Webster talks about a subject, she has so much information that she simply puts that subject into its
own category and just lets it be. This helps to keep the subjects from running together, and this
helps the reader because the they only have to read about one subject at a time instead of having
them all run together. Second, Webster does an amazing job at backing up her information. After
she states a point or introduces a subject, she presents the information about that subject and backs
it up with facts. For example, she introduces the topic of helmets. Once she does this, Webster
starts to talk about how helmets came from the Germanic warrior. She does this throughout her
whole article. This helps the readers to understand where exactly all the information they are
reading about is coming from. This also brings a whole other aspect to Beowulf in that it shows the
readers where everything came from. The poem Beowulf was written so long ago and by an
unknown author; therefore, having all this information helps the reader to understand what is
happening in the poem and really shows the reader where what they are reading about is coming
from. Another example of her providing this information is when she is talking about the mail coats
and how they originated around the tenth century. The last thing that really helps prove Webster is

underground and it doesn t have much light left. The city has blackout s. The City of Ember novel
and film have many similarities and differences; however the movie was a more entertaining
experience. The similarities between the City of Ember novel and film include: Lina and Doon
switch jobs, the mayor is corrupt, and the blackout helps Lina escape the mayor. Lina and Doon

Pharmacology is the study of the effects drugs have and how they exert them. Drugs can be
administered enteral or parenteral. [1] Enteral refers to any form of administration that involves the
alimentary tract. The four enteral routes of administration include the mouth, sublingual, buccal
and rectal. Parenteral refers to routes of administration outside of or beside of the alimentary tract.
The parenteral route includes intravascular (IV), Intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) routes
of administration. The parenteral routes are used for drugs that are poorly absorbed or that are
unstable in the GI tract. The parenteral routes are used in unconscious patients or when a fast

The passage of the drugs is not affected by lipid solubility or pH. [2]
Proximal tubular secretion:
The drug that do not enter the glomerular filtrate leaves the glomeruli though efferent arterioles.
The arterioles divide to form a capillary plexus surrounding the nephric lumen in the proximal
tubule. The occurrence of secretions mainly occurs in the proximal tubule. This happens by active
transport, one for anions and one for cations. Active transport requires energy. The two systems
have low specificity and can transport many compounds. [2]
Distal tubular reabsorption:
The concentration of the drug will exceed that of the perivascular space due to the increase in
concentration as the drug moves toward the distal convoluted tubule. The drug may diffuse back
into the circulation if it is uncharged. In attempt to minimize the diffusing back into circulation, the
pH of the urine may be manipulated to increase the ionised from of the drug. [2]
Below is a diagram to show renal elimination.
[4]
People with kidney problems/disease must have the dosage of drugs administered adjusted as they
have a lower glomerular filtration rate than those without kidney problems/disease. People with
renal dysfunction and those on dialysis are often given opioids for pain relief. Adjusting the dosage
for a therapeutic effect without overdosing is difficult for patient with renal dysfunction and those
on dialysis. Giving opioids to the patient

The Causes of the Collapse of the USSR Works Cited Not Included Although its demise occurred in
the very latter part of the 20th century, USSR could have just as easily imploded much earlier. Its

During the years up World War II, Stalin was able to industrialize Russia and make it an
economically viable nation. The war and its aftermath, however, was a defining moment for the
USSR. With the war won, the USSR began a long and slow economic decent. The war had given
USSR s economy incentive to be innovative and therefore competitive. But by winning the war,
USSR had no necessity or desire to change fundamentally to compete in the transformed post war
international context and therefore doomed itself (23). The Soviet economy, whose industry began
to stagnate and was nortorious for its poor quality, experianced economic growth at 2 percent (26).
The foundation of the economy, its industrial centres, soon became outdated and inefficent.
At the same time, post war capitalism in the west was going through a period of change that would
result in great economic prosperity. Prior to WWII, capitalism, because it was seen as the cause of
evils such as WWI, imperialism, and the Great Depression, lost some of its acctractiveness. Within
this context, socialism, with its emphasis on social justice , was appealing. But after WWI, nstead of
a final economic crisis...capitalism experianced an unprecedented boom (20). Unprecidented
growth among capitalist nations, new consumer industries, new media technology and the
emergance of the successful welfare state profoundly

Unit 1 Assignment
Organizational Theory: Cross Cultural Work Environments
I will be researching a theory on the analysis of cross cultural management style and structure. In
researching this theory, it will help managers in a multinational company, or work environment,
interact with employees of a diverse background. In understanding, and getting a better idea of how
cultures interact in workplace environments, the manager can be more productive and avoid
various types of confrontations that may ultimately hurt productivity.
Analyzing the management styles and cultures of the world will enable managers to understand the
ideas of different cultures. By ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The economic development approach to comparative management research is one of the early
methods used for cross cultural management study. It is found that managerial input plays an
important role in achieving economic development, this approach focuses on the basic trends of
managerial development, rather than the analysis of organizational practices. (Negandhi, 1983)
The role of culture is said to be the most accurate approach to exploring and comparing management
and organizational styles. One of the most basic issues in cross cultural management research is to
determine what extent culture impacts an individual s behavior within the workplace. Various
cultures emphasize dimensions differently, and these are demonstrated in contrastive managerial
behaviors. Identifying the four aspects of culture that have specific implications for the workplace
is a very important task, and these implications include power distance, uncertainty avoidance,
individualism, and masculinity. An example of each are as follows, power distance, leadership
can be looked at as informal and loose, this is due to the fact that employees do not see their
superiors as that far ahead of them on the social scale. Uncertainty avoidance measures the extent to
which people in a organization tend to feel threatened by uncertain, ambiguous, risky, or

  • 2. Brief Bio of The Stooges When you think of The Stooges what s the first thought that pops into your head? Probably a 50 year old, prune like, Iggy Pop running around like a mad yoke to the video for Lust For Life from the Trainspotting soundtrack. That s okay. I m here to tell you about the original Proto Punk (a nascent predecessor of punk) band, the intense, raucous and truly bizarre, The Stooges. Without this band would rock music have turned out the same way we know it? Would the evolution of punk vary from what we now know it? Many artists credit The Stooges as an influence to them, whether they were punk artists or artists that adopted the punk ethos, artists such as The Sex Pistols, Nirvana, David Bowie, Kiss, The Clash and many, many more. The Stooges staggering live shows were explosive, frightening and unforgettable, never failing to make an impression, leaving audiences in a daze. With songs about sex, working class alienation, self loathing and the commonality of the current consciousness , I believe the stooges truly were ahead of their time. Iggy Pophas stated his and the Stooges music to be a Dionysian art form , in that it is based on chaos and appeals to the emotions and instincts. When asked about the Stooges chaotically mezmerising live shows, frontman Iggy Pop said The demons didn t show up until I started going out live and playing with them (The Stooges)... • 3. Congressional Era Of Reconstruction During Post Civil War... Failure is simply an opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. Henry Ford. This was the Southern optimist s view of what the results of post Civil War Reconstruction could be. Unfortunately, once the Congressional era of Reconstruction began, this view was squandered under federal punishment of the South. This policy led to strained relations between Congress and the ex Confederate states. The difference of opinion was over how harshly the South should be punished for leaving the Union. The South wanted to be readmitted with as little friction as possible, so they sided with the Democrats, like Robert E. Lee, and Moderate Republicans. Congress on the other hand, being mostly controlled by Radical Republicans, believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One explicit difference of policy was over the use of troops to put the South into military districts that were under martial law and putting Northern Generals over Southern troops. As historian S. Chase said in the Democratic National Committee of 1873 There should have been as little military government as possible. This policy was even more harshly debated because these troops were there to enforce a law that the Southerners were not ever able to vote on until they were forced to vote for it if they wanted to rejoin the United States, which they had to do because they lost the Civil War. This force, both physically and ideologically, seemed very out of place in a country that claimed to be the land of the free, and even more out of place since it was a Democracy. This ideological difference between Southerners and Congress has been a major point of contention in discussions about Reconstruction policy since it was put into practice. Another point of policy disagreement can be seen in how representation in the South would be handled. In accordance with Congressional Reconstruction, certain classes of ex Confederates, such as the class that Robert E. Lee was in, were excluded from being granted their suffrage . This was an outrage to Southerners for two reasons. The first is that the certain classes being exempted from regaining their suffrage were the highest part of the upper class and the people of high rank from the ex Confederate ... There have been attempts to dethrone Godfrom His rightful position as a creator and at the helm of this is evolution theory. • 7. We Are Fascinated By Robots People are fascinated by robots. Movies for many years have explored themes of humanity and artificial intelligence, and at what point those two mix. Perhaps what is so interesting about these films is the question humans have been asking themselves for thousands of years, what makes something human? Or even, What makes someone sentient ? It s an intriguing thought. The movie, I, Robot, asks this question, but it also explores something called the Three Laws , and several moral theories. While perhaps it doesn t answer any of the queries it brings up, the film is at the very least, curious and thought provoking. The movie I, Robot is set in the vaguely near future where personal robots have been integrated into society. These robots are in most every household, like the smart phones of today, and they are being designed to look increasingly human. While most people in the movie consider these robots as laptops or iPods that is, a piece of machinery that could do more harm or betray you than a toaster could a Detective Spooner regards them with suspicion. Because of an car crash where a robot rescued him instead of a young girl, as the robot calculated Spooner had a greater chance of survival, the Detective distrusts all robots. Throughout the film, he is ridiculed for believing that robots could be dangerous. They are all programmed with the Three Laws. Surely, with the Laws in place, nothing can go wrong. • 8. To what extent can I determine my own destiny Essays To what extent can I determine my own destiny? Discuss in the light of theories, ideas and research encountered in the course. Do I act as I do through choice or are my actions influenced by factors beyond our control? This uncertainty has concerned psychologists for decades, consequently giving rise to the Autonomy versus Determinism debate. By definition, autonomy is the belief that we are free to make decisions and thus control all of our actions, however determinism contradicts this view by suggesting that all of our actions are entirely determined by the external and internal forces operating on them. Nowadays It is now commonly documented by most psychologists that it is a combination of both autonomy and determinism that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Stevens3 1996:169) The Langer and Rodin study (1976) (Lalljee 1996:121) based in an American nursing home shows the difference between two groups of elderly residents, those that were given the chance to be autonomous were found that being in control made a critical difference to their well being and longevity. However the residents that believed their well being was reliant on the nursing staff were found to be less happy and their mortality rate was higher. This highlights the fact that to have a happy life no matter what age we need to be autonomous. Those in favour of determinism believe that behaviour is the product of internal or external forces over which we have no control. As a result, human behaviour is arranged and therefore determined. This idea is similar to that of scientific methods e.g. experiments. In an experiment we have the ability to manipulate the variables, according to determinism all behaviour is causal, by this we sense that the determinist feels we have the opportunity of controlling all human behaviour. Supporting the determinist view is the biological approach, according to biological social psychologists our behaviour is solely determined by our biological systems, they argue that we are genetically determined. Even though she was doing what she thought was best for the people of Hawaii, her dream was never meant to be. She would become known as the last queen ever to reign over the Hawaiian Islands. In the beginning, Hawaii was unknown to any humans. Polynesians eventually came across its islands, and decided to make it their home. In the early days, each island was ruled by a chief, and many times the islands were in conflict with each other. Centuries like this passed, but then in 1782, [Queen Lili uokalani s] cousin Kamehameha set out to conquer and unite the islands . Thirteen years later, in 1795, Kamehameha ... Lili uokalani also learned how to speak English at the school which became an asset to her when she was later to become queen. She studied music as well, and down the road she became a renowned Hawaiian singer and songwriter. In the mid 1880 s she published the song Aloha Oe meaning Farewell to Thee, which became one of the most famous pieces of music ever written in Hawaii. (Guzzetti 14, 15, 22, 23) Aloha Oe did not give Lili uokalani all of her fame. What did, of course, was the fact that she became a queen. The monarchy began with Kamehameha s conquering and uniting of all the Hawaiian Islands (Guzzetti 10). After Kamehameha s death in 1819, his son, Liholiho assumed the title Kamehameha II. During a trip to London to visit the King of England in the summer of 1824, Kamehameha II and his wife, Queen Kamamalu contracted the measles and both died. Evolution of Populism and La Moral from Modernization Populism refers to the political philosophy that pits the downtrodden masses against the apathetic ruling elite. La Moral refers to the conformity to the code of conduct set by employers. Modernization is the transformation from a traditional, rural society that primarily relies on agriculture to an urban, industrialized society. The emergence and flourishing of modern society has been inextricably linked with the development of industries, infrastructure and cities. Sociologists and political analysts agree that urbanization and industrialization were the main causes of populism in Latin America. The old traditional leaders did not have the charisma, charm and skill that were needed. They had only served as appointees and they came from urban areas. They could therefore not identify with the struggles of the lower and middle class population. The leaders needed to show a more humane aspect of the government: a government that was concerned about the welfare of its citizens rather than the government which was composed of self serving individuals who were only interested in profiting from them. Such leaders arose and stepped out to fill the political vacuum. Their style and political policies, later named Populism , were diametrically different from those of the traditional rulers. Populism gained traction as a response to the increasingly growing demography of working class and urban lower middle class who were susceptible to political mobilization. La Moral in Columbia came into effect because the political stalwarts at the time were averse to democratic governance and thus resisted the democratization process. The populism frenzy peaked in the late 1950 s. The leaders at the time campaigned for office in line with populist fashion. These politicians were flamboyant in their election campaigns. They would sway the masses and newly minted voters into accepting their political ideologies and manifestos. The middle class and the poor looked to these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this method, the challenges from that emanated from the previous methods are solved through the development of a quicker way that solves the same problems in a short duration. The goal of the project was to obtain an easier methodology that can help in solving systems of eigen problems. In particular the study aimed at obtaining anything that solve a collection of problems. The new methodology adopted not only maintains the solution requirements but also introduces systematic improvability. Through the new insights added to the new method which distinguishes it from the previous methodologies, the required accuracy coupled with a fewer degree of freedom can be achieved. Methodology and key results The methodology surrounds the solution of a quantum mechanical Schrodinger equation for large complex systems such as insulating or metallic materials at either ambient or extreme conditions. The wave equation is first modified in the form of Kohn Sham equation. The solution is then derived from the assumption that there is a linear combination of piecewise polynomials. The formulation of the Schrodinger problem within the infinite crystal is then reduced using the boundary value problem within the confines of a unit finite cell which is then extended to the crystal potential which consists of an array of atoms. The formulation showed that for higher derivatives of the first order, there exist finite discontinuities at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Layered Security And... It is not uncommon to find various organizations complaining about security flaws in their information systems. Failing to prevent or mitigate the security flaws may lead to system breakdown, errors, and loss of crucial information. This is why it is important for users of information systems to find the right solutions that can help counter and mitigate securityflaws. One common problem with security flaws connected with information systems or networks is that the security flaws occur in multiples. Technological advances have, fortunately, made it possible for people and organizations to prevent and detect such security flaws using security strategies. Layered Security and Defense in Depth are two strategies that can help prevent attacks and protect information systems against security flaws. The two strategies are similar but are based on completely two different concepts. This paper compares and contrasts the Layered Security and Defense in Depth Strategies by explaining how each of the two functions. Additionally, the paper includes an explanation about the advantages and disadvantages of the two strategies. Layered Security refers to the use of a collection of or various tools to cover the gaps in security not covered by other tools. Layered Security operates on one principle in that there is no silver bullet when protecting networks or computers (Chatterjee, Hora, Rosoff, 2015). Introverts are written economists suffering in a world of verbal hodgepodge. Unfortunately, this has lead to awkward confrontations like Are you shy? or Why are you so quiet? . Now it s time to debunk the typical Introvert myths. The most common one is that being Introverted means you re shy, and often use the two words interchangeably. Both introverts and shy people tend to avoid socializing at times, but they do so for different reasons. Introverts often stay on the sidelines at social events because socializing drains their energy, whilst shy people tend to avoid going to unnecessary social events at all because of their fear of the unknown. Instead of worrying about being drained, they re concerned about making a mess of themselves or being rejected / judged. The next most common is that Introverts are socially awkward. People assume that because you are Introverted, you don t know how to behave or act socially. Many introverts have superior social skills. They are confident, assertive, and interesting to talk to. The MSP s were elected under PR system, called Additional Member System. 3.There are two types of electoral systems which are First Past the Post (FPTP) and Proportional Representation (PR). FPTP is used to elect the MPs to gain seats in the UK parliament. The one who gets the majority of the votes wins. PR is a form of an electoral system. This decides the fact that, on the basis of the number of votes that have been made, must correspond on the seats they will receive. This ensures that the votes are all counted for. There are different types of systems under PR too such as, STV and AMS The advantages of FPTP are that it is easily understood by voter when they are placing a vote. This is because it is simple and easy to use. This means that the candidate who gets the most votes wins and they only have to put a cross next to the candidate of their choice which keeps it very simple. Another advantage is that the results of the elections are produced very quickly. The votes are counted for each of the candidates in a constituency and whoever gets the most votes wins. This is a reasonably quick process with the whole election results getting counted the next day. One disadvantage of using the FPTP system is that it does not produce a proportional result. This means that the % of votes received using FPTP does not compare with the % of seats gained. This is unfair and means that the winners are over represented. Another disadvantage of FPTP is that it can result in a lot of wasted votes. This means that as it is the person with the most votes that wins, all the other votes are discarded, and individuals do not have their votes heard. An advantage of PR is that, no votes are wasted, unlike FPTP. All the votes under PR system are counted and taken into consideration. It is more proportional as the number of seats do reflect on the number of votes that were put in for each party. Another advantage is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What many countries didn t expect, which would lead to the downfall of the gold standard, was World War II. After World War II, the Bretton Woods Agreement established the gold standard and two support institutions called the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. This would lead to a shift, away from the gold standard, to more relaxed systems. The idea of currency purely backed by gold was slowly being shifted to a trust based currency. That is one of the reasons why the University of Southern Indiana decided to build a convenient store. This convince store is also known as the C Store, they built this store in with the apartments. Sometimes going to town to buy groceries can be a hassle, wether it be due to traffic getting to the store or maybe the store is just to big and you cant find what you are looking for. That is why it is so nice and convenient to have the C Store on the USI campus. The one thing the C Store provides that no other competitor can can come close to competing with is convenience. • 23. The Theory Of Legitimacy Of Political Authority Essay Through the channels of social change, there are truly only two fundamental ways to produce revolution: through either working with the system or directly contrasting the system. Historically, we can see the recurrence of both parties at the heart of action. While the point of deliberation could be an individual, a group, a governing body, or an enterprise, social forces work to see justice is properly met. This belief has withstood varying philosophical and structural systemic changes. Additionally, it is compliant with a degree of political participation. Modernly, the contractarianism that exists, the theory of legitimacy of political authority (Cudd, 2000), demands a level of democracy and tolerance. Many modern states rely upon a social contract to function. As individuals within these states seek stability, they rationalize that maintaining a certain level of morality is in their best interest, thus consenting to a government. If a group within any state contests any of the contractual obligations, a political or social movement serves to begin dialogue and negotiation. To be clear, many social movements take the form of grassroots organizing, or community organizing, which refers to the collective action of the part of a community or group in order to effect change at the local, regional, national, or international level. They empower communities whose aims can range from encouraging political conversation to increasing mass participation in politics. Despite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This book is about the Mythology of the Romans and Greeks through her eyes and the way she interprets it. In the beginning of the book Hamilton writes an introduction to Classical Mythology and how, and why it came about. She starts off by writing that Greek and Roman Mythology is meant to show us how people felt about the human race and about where they came from many years ago. Hamilton states that the Egyptians made gods they thought up and made them in a way that no one has seen before. The Greeks therefore made their gods in there own image. That made it easier for them to understand them and know how they act. The major point Hamilton is showing in this introduction is that Mythology is a new to look at life and to understand it under a different light. Another point she states is that Greek Mythology it?s self, is so unique that it showed extreme beauty yet fear at that same time. The gods were not to be completely feared, but respected to the point where you didn?t anger them. Greek Mythology is also unique, because it doesn?t have many of the things that are in most religion or folklore. Hamilton states that Greek Mythology didn?t contain Magic or Witches, and in reality didn?t fear the dead, they actually pitied the dead. Hamilton?s main point in this whole introduction is that Mythology itself is completely and totally different from any other religion or folklore ever. Mythology was written in such a beautiful way that upon reading it, it seems real and it begins to take shape. She is also saying that Greek Mythology was in a way different than normal Mythology and therefore changed the face of Mythology forever. PART TWO: Aside from mortals and immortals in ... • 31. What Is An Example Of Prescriptive Regulation A prescriptive regulation is where the regulating authority defines explicitly how a task is to be undertaken. It informs exactly what is to be done and it needs the industries to demonstrate that they have strictly adhered to the prescribed steps. A goal setting regulation on the other hand keeps the end goal or objective in mind and leaves the method used to achieve that to the industries. Here, the industries have the freedom to arrive at the goal using any way they see fit, as long as they demonstrate that the end goal has been reached. To clearly see the difference between these two contrasting regulations, we can look at some examples of each Examples of prescriptive regulation Footings for masonry chimneys shall be constructed of concrete or solid masonry at least 12 inches (305mm) thick and shall extend at least 6 inches (152mm) beyond the face of the foundation or support wall on all sides. Footings shall be founded on natural undisturbed earth or engineered fill below frost depth. In areas not subject to freezing, footings shall be at least 12 inches (305mm) below finished grade 1 Thru bolts shall have a diameter of 12 . Pilot holes for thru bolts shall be 1732 to 916 in diameter. Most would argue that since it is not intended to be a governmental aid in ensuring and creating opportunities for equality, we are unable to expect such efforts to be made within this industry. Advertisers have the job of selling, to persuade and increase consumption as to satisfy the capitalist s pockets. The play on social injustice often associated with this particular industry makes it relevant to question it though. Male dominance in this area is evident, but are we not even to view men and women as equal in terms of being potential consumers? As illustrated by Spurlock and this piece of research, it is extremely difficult to not involve advertisement in vocabulary and certain approaches to societal understanding. The present branding culture is apparent and it is close to impossible to not have an opinion regarding this matter, which incidentally causes discussion and debate, which in turn furthers the word of mouth usage of brands. The impact of advertising on perceived gender roles is quite evident, and with plenty of consequences, some of which we might not yet have experienced the full effect of. A movement which is undoubtedly a reflection of the fragmented and collapsing Europe at the beginning of the 20th century, Modernism was a reaction to the world in which it existed. Subsequent to the overly imaginative and emotive era of Victorianism, Modernismwas indeed a dramatic movement away from the changing values and ideas of the Victorian world. One such section of the poem which demonstrates this search for meaning is in the first section The Burial of the Dead . Switching between a number of different narrators, this first section addresses much of the aforementioned devastation and destruction caused after World War One and the search for meaning which followed it. She compares the loops of an onion to a wedding ring and implies that marriage can deaden love and passion. Marriage is lethal in her opinion. In the extended metaphor she expresses her feeling, sometimes people never recover from a broken romance. They will continue to experience heartache, pain, bitterness. Its scent will cling to your fingertips, cling to your knife. The repetition of the word cling is effective. The word knife conveys the image of a wound. What Is The Purpose Of Caroline s Wedding Purpose Without purpose, all people would not have the strength to get up and face the challenges that present themselves during the course of every day, regardless of the background they come from. Finding a purpose allows the people to survive and press on despite the adversities they face. While some of the novel s characters succumb and break down, many find different meanings in life such as family, love, and passions that extend into something larger than themselves. Bonds within families are very powerful, allowing family members to support each other through hardship. The story Caroline s Wedding centers around an immigrant family from Haiti that moves to New York. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My father pulled heavy carts for pennies. • 43. Summery and Response of Webster’s Article on Archeology in... In Webster s article, she talks about the different things that make Beowulf the poem what it is today. In her article she talks about different things like swords, shields, halls, and cultures. She takes these subjects and talks about where they originated and why they are in the poem. She takes the poem and breaks it down into the different subjects, and shows the readerhow they add to the texture of the poem. Webster ends her article by stating that the poem would not be what it was today without these subjects, and these subjects were the reason that Beowulfhas so much texture. The author, in this case Leslie Webster, did a very good job of persuading the readers that these subjects were the only things that brought texture to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This makes it easier for the reader to understand and comprehend what she is saying. When Webster talks about a subject, she has so much information that she simply puts that subject into its own category and just lets it be. This helps to keep the subjects from running together, and this helps the reader because the they only have to read about one subject at a time instead of having them all run together. Second, Webster does an amazing job at backing up her information. After she states a point or introduces a subject, she presents the information about that subject and backs it up with facts. For example, she introduces the topic of helmets. Once she does this, Webster starts to talk about how helmets came from the Germanic warrior. She does this throughout her whole article. This helps the readers to understand where exactly all the information they are reading about is coming from. This also brings a whole other aspect to Beowulf in that it shows the readers where everything came from. The poem Beowulf was written so long ago and by an unknown author; therefore, having all this information helps the reader to understand what is happening in the poem and really shows the reader where what they are reading about is coming from. Another example of her providing this information is when she is talking about the mail coats and how they originated around the tenth century. The last thing that really helps prove Webster is ... [1] Enteral refers to any form of administration that involves the alimentary tract. The four enteral routes of administration include the mouth, sublingual, buccal and rectal. Parenteral refers to routes of administration outside of or beside of the alimentary tract. The parenteral route includes intravascular (IV), Intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) routes of administration. The parenteral routes are used for drugs that are poorly absorbed or that are unstable in the GI tract. The parenteral routes are used in unconscious patients or when a fast response is needed as it provides the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The passage of the drugs is not affected by lipid solubility or pH. [2] Proximal tubular secretion: The drug that do not enter the glomerular filtrate leaves the glomeruli though efferent arterioles. The arterioles divide to form a capillary plexus surrounding the nephric lumen in the proximal tubule. The occurrence of secretions mainly occurs in the proximal tubule. This happens by active transport, one for anions and one for cations. Active transport requires energy. The two systems have low specificity and can transport many compounds. [2] Distal tubular reabsorption: The concentration of the drug will exceed that of the perivascular space due to the increase in concentration as the drug moves toward the distal convoluted tubule. The drug may diffuse back into the circulation if it is uncharged. In attempt to minimize the diffusing back into circulation, the pH of the urine may be manipulated to increase the ionised from of the drug. [2] Below is a diagram to show renal elimination. [4] People with kidney problems/disease must have the dosage of drugs administered adjusted as they have a lower glomerular filtration rate than those without kidney problems/disease. People with renal dysfunction and those on dialysis are often given opioids for pain relief. The war and its aftermath, however, was a defining moment for the USSR. With the war won, the USSR began a long and slow economic decent. The war had given USSR s economy incentive to be innovative and therefore competitive. But by winning the war, USSR had no necessity or desire to change fundamentally to compete in the transformed post war international context and therefore doomed itself (23). The Soviet economy, whose industry began to stagnate and was nortorious for its poor quality, experianced economic growth at 2 percent (26). The foundation of the economy, its industrial centres, soon became outdated and inefficent. At the same time, post war capitalism in the west was going through a period of change that would result in great economic prosperity. Prior to WWII, capitalism, because it was seen as the cause of evils such as WWI, imperialism, and the Great Depression, lost some of its acctractiveness. The economic development approach to comparative management research is one of the early methods used for cross cultural management study. It is found that managerial input plays an important role in achieving economic development, this approach focuses on the basic trends of managerial development, rather than the analysis of organizational practices. (Negandhi, 1983) The role of culture is said to be the most accurate approach to exploring and comparing management and organizational styles. One of the most basic issues in cross cultural management research is to determine what extent culture impacts an individual s behavior within the workplace. Various cultures emphasize dimensions differently, and these are demonstrated in contrastive managerial behaviors. Identifying the four aspects of culture that have specific implications for the workplace is a very important task, and these implications include power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism, and masculinity. An example of each are as follows, power distance, leadership can be looked at as informal and loose, this is due to the fact that employees do not see their superiors as that far ahead of them on the social scale. Uncertainty avoidance measures the extent to which people in a organization tend to feel threatened by uncertain, ambiguous, risky, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
