Writing An Essay Outline Template
Writing an essay on the topic "Writing An Essay Outline Template" may seem paradoxical at first
glance. The irony lies in the challenge of encapsulating the essence of structuring an essay into a
coherent outline while concurrently grappling with the complexities of elucidating the process
itself. The task necessitates a nuanced understanding of the intricacies involved in crafting a clear
and effective template.
One of the difficulties stems from the need to strike a balance between providing a
comprehensive guide for creating an essay outline and avoiding the pitfall of overwhelming the
reader with excessive details. Crafting an outline template involves a delicate dance between
conciseness and informativeness, requiring the writer to distill the essential components of the
essay structure without sacrificing clarity.
Moreover, the challenge lies in navigating the subjective nature of outlining preferences.
Different disciplines and writing styles may demand distinct approaches to organizing thoughts,
arguments, and supporting evidence. Tailoring the outline template to suit a diverse range of
topics and essay types adds another layer of complexity to the task.
The writer must also grapple with the paradox of maintaining creativity within the rigid
framework of an outline. While the template serves as a roadmap, there is a danger of stifling
the natural flow of ideas. Striking a harmonious balance between structure and flexibility
becomes a cognitive tightrope walk, where the risk of veering into either extreme looms large.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the intricacies of creating an essay outline template presents a
paradoxical challenge. It demands the synthesis of clarity and conciseness, the ability to cater to
diverse writing styles, and the delicate balance between structure and creativity. Successfully
navigating these complexities requires a keen understanding of the intricacies involved in the art
of outlining.

Kyrie Irving Research Paper
In order to manage a professional sporting organization, you must treat it as a
business. Irving was impressive as a basketball player from an early age. As the
number one draft pick in 2011, there was a strong indication that the Cavaliers
made the right choice A year removed from LeBron James acrimonious departure
from Cleveland and team president Dan Gilbert s meltdown, Kyrie was seen as a
sort of savior for a franchise and a city needing a hero (Boyd). When practice began
for the organization it was a constant frenzy of different people as well as media
who just wanted a glimpse of his play. Lebron James, the number one player in the
world, was quite busy posting pictures on his social media of his vacation in the
weeks after their loss in the NBA finals to the Golden State Warriors. One would
never know that there were frustrations and turmoil brewing back at home within the
franchise of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Today, when watching the coverage on ESPN,
it seems the foundation of the franchise is getting ready to be dismantled. The
reports seem to suggest that Kyrie Irving is at the point of his career in which he no
longer wants to be known as the number two man on the Cleveland Cavaliers and that
he has demanded a trade.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does, however, have his flaws and some of the writers are not too kind when

made teammates better so far in his career. His defense is miserable, and while he s
an efficient scorer, he has a bad tendency to shoot his team out of games (Flom).
With that being said, it is still my opinion that he will make a huge impact on any
team and will continue to grow as a
Similarities Between Persia And Greece
While reading chapter four, I gathered that Persia and Greece, both countries which
flourished at the same time, were both similar in political and social advancements
but also had many differences namely, religions and philosophies. Greece was
made of many small city states due to the fact their citizens had to move often
because they were under pressure from war, the large population and poverty.
Alternatively, Persia, a country with much less war, created the largest empire of
their time. From the long and eventful time period of 1000 B.C.E. to 30 B.C.E.,
Iranian and Hellenistic lifestyles and experiences were filled with new ideas. Persia
and Greecewere both growing at the same time so many similarities were shared.
When it came to the development and interaction of cultures there were similarities
of science and technology and the arts and architecture. On the other hand, there were
many differences partly due to the fact that they were state of war opposition and did

Persian philosophy did not occur until well after the Greeks . Ancient Greek
philosophy arose in the 6th century B.C.E. and continued throughout the Hellenistic
period and the period in which Ancient Greece was part of the Roman Empire. It
dealt with a wide variety of subjects, including political philosophy, ethics,
metaphysics, ontology, logic, biology, rhetoric, and aesthetics. Greek philosophers
were seekers and lovers of wisdom . They studied and analyzed the world around
them using logic and reason. Although we often think of philosophy as religion or
the meaning of life , the Greek philosophers were also scientists. Many studied
mathematics and physics as well. Often the philosophers were teachers of wealthy
children. Some of the more famous ones opened their own schools or academies.
Some of the most famous Greek philosophers were Socrates, Plato, and
HISTORICAL CONTEXT OF NURSING
HISTORICAL CONTEXT OF NURSING When exploring the pages of history, it
becomes apparent that nursing has always existed and has primarily functioned
within a framework of human caring. This legacy of human caring dates back to
biblical times and has been integrated into every facet of nursing. This content will
discuss an overview of the historical evolution of nursing and nurse leaders that
have shaped its current status. PREHISTORIC PERIOD Nursing in the prehistoric
period was delineated by health practices that were strongly guided by beliefs of
magic, religion, and superstition. Individuals who were ill were considered cursed
by evil spirits. Evil gods that entered the human body caused suffering and death and

They believed in the yin and yang philosophy; an imbalance between the two
would result in ill health. Central to Confucius teaching was service to the
community and the value of the family as a unit. Yin: represented the feminine
forces, which was considered negative and passive. Yang represented the
masculine forces, which were positive and active. Taijitu is the traditional symbol
that represents the forces of yin and yang. The most recognized form is composed
of two semi circular teardrop shaped curves of different colors, or a circle separated
by an S shaped line, where each half is marked with a dot in a differing color. The
two color choices are traditionally black and white. Yin and Yang is used to describe
how seemingly opposing forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural
world, giving rise to each other in turn. Health practices are designed to promote
health and harmony and include treatments such as acupuncture, hydrotherapy,
massage, and exercise. Early literature showed the use of drug therapy to manage
disease conditions with over 1000 drugs recorded. Romans Health and medical
practices were adapted from the countries conquered. Physicians were enslaved and
forced to provide details about their medical practice. Both female and male
attendants assisted in the care of the sick. The first military hospital in Europe was

The Parables In The Gospel Of Luke s Gospel
The parables in the Gospel of Luke are meant to be a guide for everyday living;
this gives Christians a path to live their lives so as to merit the Kingdom of heaven.
As God the Father sent His Son to earth to teach us how to live in His goodness, His
Son teaches Christians through parables as written in Luke. Luke s Gospelconfirms
that Jesusis the Son of God, thus dispelling doubts. Luke s Gospels are part of the
synoptic gospels. That means that they are parallel in stories with the gospels of the
other two writers, Matthew and Mark. (The fourth writer, John, is not similar to
Luke and not considered a part of the synoptic gospels.) The three writers portray the
stories in a comparable fashion with similar wording and point of view (Goodacre).
Luke s writing, in the form of parables, lies within the canonical gospels, which
were most likely written in 50 60 A.D. (J.F. MacArthur). This is an approximate date,
of course, but it is based on the writings found in the Acts of the Apostles, a
subsequent book of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Denandian Welfare
Model
International economics assignment 2
Compare and contrast the key elements of the Danish welfare model, with that of the
Central European welfare model.
A welfare state is something most rich and developed industrialised countries have.
They are usually divided into three different categories; The liberal welfare model
also known as the Anglo Saxon or residual, the central European welfare model also
known as the continental or insurance based and the Scandinavian or universal
welfare model.
In Denmark we have the Scandinavian welfare model also known as the universal
welfare model. Denmark, or the north s welfare system is very different from the
rest of the world, because of the high provision of social services. The Danish
welfare model has a very high provision of social services, meaning that education
and healthcare is free for everybody. The social services also include monthly
financial subsidizes, when out of work (kontanthjælp), when taking an education
(SU), child support and much more.

The Scandinavian welfare model, is usually criticized for having a very high tax
burden. Because healthcare, education etc. is free for everybody we pay a high very
high tax. Some argue it s a very good thing because by doing so, we ensure to help
the weakest in society so that nobody is left behind, and by so keeping our society
as efficient as possible. This leads to a very safe society, where most people thrive
because they aren t desperate for the basic needs like a home and sustenance.
On the other hand, this high tax burden has been criticized by economists, because
it might slow down the economic growth, and competitive opportunity. If people
can stay at home and receive almost the same salary as if they were working, it will
make society much more inefficient, and people tend to work less because it simply
won t pay
Analysis Of The Princess And The Frog
Disney films over their course of existence have hidden double meanings in many
of the films they produce. Rather if you are a child or a full pledged adult, people
from all different ages can receive a bit of advice when it comes to what Disney
films try to convey in their motion pictures. Disney is also to be known for some of
their unforgettable whimsical characters and memorable songs in every film. The
film released in 2009 The Princess and The Frogis no different. Especially when it
comes to Mama s Odie s musical number half way through the film. Mama s Odie s
song, Dig a Little Deeperis full of metaphors, themes and imagery one can deeply
analyze.
At the same time we can apply the song, Dig a Little Deeper, to various characters
we have come to learn and explore through the several novels we have covered over
the course of the semester. We can also apply it to the distinct issues pertaining to
women in the South.
The title of the song itself gives the viewer the overall significant and direct theme
of the piece right away. It urges a person to go beyond the surface of a
circumstance almost saying as if to go into the root or origin of the matter. To find
who a person really is at the core of their being. At the start of the song Mama Odie
comes off as a non judgmental person. Don t matter what you look like. Don t
matter what you wear. How many rings you got on your finger. We don t care. Being
in front of her and don referring to her lack of sight,
Persuasive Essay On Pitbulls
Dogs come in just about every size and shape you can imagine. There are fluffy
ones, sleek ones, fast ones, heavy ones, long ones, short ones, and everything in
between. But with each breed comes a different public view of how safe or
aggressive that dog may be. Each breed of dog has a unique history, and with that, a
reputation. For example, when you think of the corgi, you might think of the Queen
of England, who famously has many such dogs. But unfortunately, sometimes a breed
s reputation does it more damage than good. An example of this situation is the
pitbull. Should pitbulls be considered aggressive and dangerous breeds? I do not
think that they should. In recent years, most people will not allow their children to
play with pitbulls.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One valid reason that pitbulls are not dangerous is thataggressionin dogs is based on
how theyare raised, trained, and handled on a day to day basis.Any dog, regardless of
breed, can become dangerous or extremely aggressiveif treated poorly. Abused
animals become defensive and mistrusting of humans. This can lead to attacks if
the dog feels threatened by the presence of a person. The dog would lash out to
protect itself, which is understandable if it has learned that humans mean danger
through a life of mistreatment.A man could train his great dane to attack a
personwho entered hisproperty just as easily as he could train a pitbull, with the
same results. If a dog is raised properly, and shown love and affection and
socialized from a young age, they can be good, loyal companionsand great pets.
Thisfact does not apply to only certain breeds of dogs, but all dogs in general. The
media overplays the danger of bullybreeds. In a study conducted bythe Canine
Research Council, the local media was monitored on how many articleswere put out

The Common Notion Of Minds Essay
The common notion about minds is that they are incredibly simple things that we
should easily have the full extent of knowledge on since after all we are constantly
using one. It seems completely self evident as Descartes put it I think there for, I am
, that we are a mind and that there is nothing strange going on up there but there is
much more to the story here. It s taken for granted far too much that we have any
idea of what a mindis and is not. There are quite a numerous amount of different
notions of mind that we take as given from what we observe naturally, but we are
to look at for the most part one in particular. Many if asked what their opinion was
on what they believed thoughts to be made of would be largely perplexed by the
question thinking it unworthy of consideration due to believing there is nothing to
debate, while some would state brain waves, impulses, or some similar stuff
involving the brain. Others though might state that they believe them to be made of
stuff wholly different from what we are made of or any material for that matter. This
concept that the mind may be made of some intangible substance dates all the way
back to the 1500 s with a man named Descartes. Cartesian Dualism, Descartes
philosophy of mind, puts forward the idea that there are two substances in the
universe. One being the natural physical matter we are all commonly acquainted with
and the other being the immaterial mental matter which we would, if real, would only
interact with
Technological Advancements And Technology
Technology is intended to improve our lives and since the dawn of man progress
continues to take shape. We consider technological advances as modern
conveniences, and in many respects they improve our lives. The consideration is how
to use and integrate these advancements effectively into life. Consider the evolution
of the Smartphone and it unknown long term effects on society. For example, people
born after 1995 have virtually grown up with the Smartphone technology and they
are affecting an entire generation often referred to as the iGeneration. While progress
is good in many ways, the costs are revealed as time passes. Teenagers do not
understand a world without technology, in particular, smartphones and their effects
on their socialization, mental health, and physical health. Smartphones quite possibly
could be making the iGeneration less smart and less fulfilled. Take for example
social media and how it interfaces with our society. We post on various platforms to
show a sense of happiness with the social interactions in which we engage. Selfies
have become the norm. The cost of all the fascination of social media connections is
showing a negative trend among teens of the iGeneration. Facebook wipes away face
to face interactions. Instagram posts do not get enough instant likes. Snapchat can get
you into trouble in a snap. These technological advances are affecting the
socialization process of this generation. Most teens stay home more, communicate
through texts
The Crucible Danforth s Downfall Essay
Responsible? The Salem Tragedy of 1692 was a cumulative downfall, wherein no
singular person was responsible, but instead everybody was in his or her own way.
At this time in history the people of Massachusetts were like dominos, rigidly set
up in lines across the board, but all too close for comfort. So close to the tipping
point, that one small factor would send them all hurtling over the edge. Though the
Salem tragedy was a group effort, one such member played a higher role in the
destruction. Judge Danforth, the epitome of theocracy at the time believed you were
either for God, or you were not, and there was no road in between. This quickly
caused destruction as the system of society began to turnon itself. Those who did not
know their commandments were assumed to be cavorting with the devil, and Judge
Danforth, power hungry with lynchings, called all the shots. It is evident when he
says, And do you know that near to 400 are in jail from Marblehead to Lynn, and
upon my signature?... And 72 condemned to hang by that signature? (Danforth, Act
3), that all the weight of his signature has gone to his head, and he has begun to
regard himself higher than most. Perhaps if Danforth had been less greedy and more
open, he would have heard the truth in Proctor s words when he told about the girls
decept. However, instead of listening, he asserted his dominance and power, and
instead went on to convict more people. Another key component of the Salem Tragedy

ANOSIKE COMM 1310 Elements of Human Communication Concorde Career
College On June 19nd 2009 First Lady Michelle Obama called on Americans to
step up their self sacrifice on the 27th of June by declaring the day a National Health
Care Day of Service. In her two minutes speech, Michelle officially kicked off United
We Serve, a plea to all Americans to join a volunteer endeavor and be part of
constructing a new foundation for America, one society at a time (The Obama White
House, 2009). The program was managed by the Corporation for National and
Community Service, the federal organization devoted to development service in
communities across America. The introduction of her speech immediately captures
the audience attention. She refers from president Obama s remarks on the challenges
facing Americans. She then moves on to launch her idea on the volunteerism
program immediately outlining the efforts the government has put in place to help
address the economic challenges. Her language is clearly stated and she uses
persuasive words to convince the Americans (the audience) to join the initiative
(Dlugan, 2008). She engaged the audience s mind in the current state and provides
best alternatives. She then states the need states the need for intervention and calls
for audience attention. However, Michelle does not develop sufficient evidence to the
real cause of the problems affecting the American.
Gay Rights Essay
Fighting for Gay Rights In our society we should protect LGBT rights it s unfair
that we treat them differently. We should make more changes about how we treat
them they should be allowed to go as they please or shop at places they want to
shop at. Without being told they can not go in a certain restaurant because the way
they are. People should not discriminate the reason being is you never know what
that person been through or why they are like that. And it s hard for a person to
actually be themselves without people telling them that it s a phase or they are
corrupt. In our society we should not have to fight for our rights or act accordingly

Which is not true they will love they child just like the opposite sex. We support other
things that are going on in the world but why not support gay marriage ? or fight for
they rights?. They are high risk for suicide rates the reason being they feel like
they could not please everyone. They feel like they failed to make everyone happy
and reach their standards. My concern are the innocent people that are going
through this. The LGBT community already go through enough some of their
families disown them because of who they are which is ridiculous. People make
them feel guilty because loving another sex is a sin which it is not. Our society
thinks children needs a mother and father not a two mothers or two fathers. They
are not allowed to serve our country which is heartbreaking because the government
feel like they are not fit to do so. Many states still have a ban on gay marriage until
this day. Before President Obama left office he promised to help the LGBT
community to gain their rights and also appeal the DADT. Our government should
take more procession with their rights we have hateful people out there and would
like to terminate them. In 2016 the military lifted the ban on transgender people.
Which is a start I feel that it should not be a option to pick and choose who to fight
for our country. Also I feel that if a person love someone no matter what color ,
shape , size , gender , etc you should not stop them from finding their true love.

The Threat Of Food Sources
THREAT TO FOOD SOURCES
Climate change doesn t just mean that certain species will suffer from the loss of
habitat. There will be a cascade effect up and down the food chain, affecting the
most basic species of prey and apex predators alike. Dominant predators with a
strong preference for a carnivorous diet are arguably more vulnerable to destruction
of their environments. If the prey population suffers, it directly affects the survival
of the predators that depend on them. Polar bears have an especially focused diet,
and seals are their prefered prey. Interestingly, the milk produced by polar bear
mothers is more similar to that of pinnipeds (seals) than it is to milk of most
terrestrial mammals (Amstrup, 599). Like polar bears, several species of seal depend
on a reliable presence of sea ice in order to breed (Derocher 2004, p. 168). A
dwindling seal population will almost certainly affect polar bears.
Polar bears are unique from their omnivorous cousins in that they have adapted to an
arctic climate with a specialized diet. Ringed seals make up the majority of their
diet, along with other species of seal, whales, and walruses (Thiemann 2008, p.
591). Although I have previously argued here is some hope that polar bears can
adapt to different food sources like geese and caribou, further research indicates that
a diet of land animals such as geese and their eggs is a poor substitute. First of all,
the list of prey I mentioned all have one thing in common: A thick
Amazon s Diversification Strategy Analysis
Amazon s diversification strategy Diversification strategies involve broadening the
scope of an organization across different products and market sectors. It requires an
organization to explore new experiences and knowledge outside its existing markets
and products (Business Case Studies). Strategic management is a business concept
that consists of strategy analysis, creation, implementation and monitoring, used by
organizations in order to achieve and maintain a competitive advantage (as cited by
Jurevicius, 2013). The following parts discuss Amazon s strategy with a focus on the
company s competitive advantage and its customers. Amazon s Global Strategy
Amazon has been able to maintain sustainable competitive advantage because the
company has adopted cost leadership, differentiation and growth strategies. Cost
Leadership Low cost leadership is pursued by Amazon by differentiating itself
primarily on the basis of price. Amazon s goal is to become customer centric, aiming
to offer a wide range of products with lower prices and convenience to its customers.
It can be seen that the company believes offering low prices and focusing on
customers are fundamental to Amazon s success. Over the time, Amazon seeks to
mitigate the costs in order to lower the prices through achieving higher sales volumes.
The company also finds many ways to negotiate to obtain better terms with their
suppliers, and achieving better operating efficiencies. Amazon always ensures that
they maintain

Time Distortion
Time flies when you are having fun, as the old adage says, may have some real
psychological value behind it. Do angry faces seems to resonate for longer periods
of time as compared to happy faces? How does this distortion occur with the time
passage of time identical in both scenarios? We frequently encounter emotional facial
expressions in our daily lives. These facial expressions help us to judge an individual
s attitudes and feelings. But is there really a time distortion between angry and happy
faces, and how does this time distortion occur? In 1977, John Gibbon described the
Scalar Expectancy Theory in animals. Gibbons created a model for the passage of
time using internal pulses, these pulses are sent out by the pacemaker. The
pacemaker emits pulses at regular intervals without any disruptions. Pulses flow from
the pacemaker into the accumulator through the switch. When the switch is closed
the pulses enter the accumulator, and stop when the switch is open. The accumulator
makes a determination on the length of the event depending on the amount of pulses
in the accumulator from the event. Delays with the opening and closing of the switch

happy, angry, and sad versus neutral. Participants were asked to judge whether the

Participants were found to overestimate time for emotional faces over neutral faces.
These results supported an increase in the internal clock which increased pacemaker
speed. Results also showed a greater time dilation in participants making judgements

Cabeza De Vaca Dbq Analysis
Cabeza de Vaca was lost and alone in the swamp wetlands of the San Antonio Bay.
He was naked, his feet were covered in mud, and he was covered in mosquitoes, but
he was still able to survive. Cabeza de Vaca was on a expedition with Panfilo de
Narvaez along with 300 other men to establish settlements along the coast of the Gulf
of Mexico. The 300 men were ordered to leave the ships by Panfilo de Narvaez on
modern day Tampa Bay, Florida to search for treasure. While they were all looking
for their treasure, they didn t know that the would never see their ships again. Now
the only thing that mattered was not colonization, it was survival. Cabeza de Vaca
survived by healing the native americans, respecting the native americans, and using

According to Document C it says, I opened his chest to that place, I inserted the

Cabeza de Vaca survive because healing the Indians helped earn respect from them
so that they can care for Cabeza de Vaca and not treat him badly and having the

The Revolt of Mother by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman and Trifles by Susan Glaspell:
Where s The Power Of Feminism ?
In the late nineteenth century, America was considered as a patriarchal society.
Where males had all control and women worked as their slave. Women were to
support all decisions, cook, clean, conceive children, teach, and remain silent. Women
has continuously remained a lower standard than men. Still today, womankind is
assumed of as unintelligent, inadequate, weak minded, and unimportant than males.
Mary E. Wilkins Freeman, the author of The Revolt of Mother , and Susan Glaspell
the author of Trifles, share the true meaning of women s empowerment. The focus of
the stories revolves around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a patriarchal frontier society, only focuses on conquest and foundation than
feminine vales. For instance, in the beginning of the story, Mrs. Penn constantly
askes Mr. Penn, why is he building a new barn. Mr. Penn avoids the question and
tries to shoot her off. Adoniram shows this behavior because women are not
supposed to become a speaking subject. For this reason, Sarah explains to Nanny
one of these days you ll find out, an then you ll know only what men folks think we
do, so far as any use of it goes, an how we d ought to reckon men folks in with
Providence an not complain of what they do any more than we do of the weather
(Mary E. Wilkins Freeman , pg. 3). Women are only supposed to support their
husband and never complain. Another problem Sarah faces is different visions. Men
and women only agree completely when it s a team effort. There s certain things a
man wouldn t understand about a woman as for a woman to a man. Father s main
symbol of success is his barn (Cutter). For Father, his only vision leads to money. In
other words, The wilderness into cattle, the cattle into money, and then the money
into more barns to house more cattle (Cutter). The more money Father has, the more
growth in ego. Whereas, Mother counterpoises the actual and symbolic realm of the
home (Cutter). Mother isn t as materialistic as Father. The new home is for expanding
the generation and honoring Nanny s wedding. It s not

Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Analysis
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote Self Reliance , a piece that comments on what people
should focus on in their lives, and becoming self reliant. Self reliance is the idea of
doing things for yourself, focusing on yourself rather than what you re doing for
societal reasons. This is an interesting way to look at one s selfidentity. When looking
at life through a self reliant individualist view, one can find different perspectives or
take a ways from different literary pieces or when analyzing an individual s actions
or motivations. When looking at, Rip Van Winkle, William Wilson , Ministers Black
Veil and Wakefield we can gather a different take away when looking at how the
main characters go through different identity crises and how it correlated to self
reliant individualism, in the ways it all affected the main character and others in
the stories. When looking at these four stories, the main characters go through
identity crisis s, that affect themselves as well as other characters who slowly
begin thinking about their own self identity. In Rip Van Winkle , the readers learn
about a man who goes out into the woods to go hunting, he meets a man by the
name of Hudson, who he drinks with along with a few other people, and he
eventually goes to sleep under a tree. He awakes, and twenty years has passed
since he left for hunting, and feel asleep. The main character comes to the
realization that all this time has passed, his wife has died, which he seemed to be
indifferent to, and his son and daughter are grown now. He realizes that his whole
world, the small and quant town, his family/friends, have all moved on without
him and he s left in his old ways. The town and society itself have changed in big
ways, for example, the small inn is now a large hotel named Yankee, and the
Revolutionary War has already happened, so the once small Dutch town is a
growing town under George Washington, where all the people who inhabit it are
described as active and concerned citizens, who are more focused on material
possessions and change rather than the desire for stability. Rip Van Winkle is
welcomed back and accepted, even though he is seen as a quirky man who is almost
blissfully ignorant, while being completely harmless
Millipedes Lab Report
1. a. Soil is one abiotic variable that would explain why the millipedes are found
more frequently under logs. The soil could contain essential nutrients to the
millipedes. Another abiotic factor could be the darkness provided under the logs.
Millipedes can take shelter under the logs and avoid light. Predation is a biotic
factor that also explains why millipedes are plentiful under logs. The logs
millipedes hide under provide a place for millipedes to take cover from possible
predators. b. Millipedes take shelter under logs to escape light and heat. In order to
prove this we need to conduct an experiment. Place two different groups of
millipedes each into their own container. Put some soil and a log into each
container. Take the first container and place a bright heat lamp over the millipedes.
Leave the second container alone. Record how many millipedes are under the log
for each group. If the hypothesis is true and millipedes take shelter to avoid light
and heat, then more millipedes will be under the log in the first group. c. Light
would also affect how plants distribute like millipedes. In order to modify this
experiment to work with plants, the heat lamp on the first group would be removed.

Polar Bears And Polar Bear
Polar Bear
Introduction
Polar bears live in the Arctic Circle with temperatures that can be minus fifty
degrees Celsius. Polar bears are considered marine mammals because they spend
the majority of the life at sea, swimming for miles, but they are the only marine
mammal that has limbs and also roams on ice and land. Male polar bears generally
are twice the size of females, or sow s. An ancestor of the grizzly bear, polar bears
live in the Arctic Circle and spend majority of their time in the ocean hunting for
seals. Seals being the meal of choice for polar bears they have adapted to the harsh
climate and learned how to hunt seals (Willmer, 2004). The population size of polar
bears is uncertain but Canada is responsible for two ... Show more content on

Along with being translucent the bears fur is also hollow, this helps the bear swim,
also preventing the freezing water from touching the bears skin. The bears fur is also
long, fine and densely packed insulating the bear further (Willmer, 2004). The polar
bear have large feet and the soles are covered in fur, insulating the feet and also used
as grip for walking on the ice and snow. The large feet surface area on their feet also
serves as grip for walking long distances searching for food. They also have small
ears which decrease risk of water getting in them. The small ears also reduce heat loss.
Diet
Polar bears are the most carnivorous of the bear family. Polar bears have large
narrow heads allowing them to fit there heard in small spaces searching for food.
They have a great sense of smell allowing them to sniff out predators form far
away. They have the most sensitive nose of any mammal this allows them to smell
a seal that is three feet under the snow, or thirty kilometers away. When they do
find a seal den they jump and push all their body weight into the snow breakings
free the seal from underneath the ice. This hunting tactic mastered by polar bears
acts as a surprise attack, and the seal never knew what was coming. These bears
incredible sense of smell allows them to pin point the exact spot where the seal s den
is under the ice, otherwise if the polar bear is wrong the hunt will not be successful.
This method is so important because the

If a pulse was measured and recorded as student 1 s results, the same person is to be
used again as student 1, or therefore results would be inaccurate. If it were to be two
different people being measured for student 1 s results column, results would be
inaccurate because two people may have different pulses, breathing rates and carbon
dioxide productions. One person may be more calm, or more energetic than the other,
and those factors would give uneven results. There was not enough time to complete
the full investigation, therefore results for table 3, the carbon dioxide production, was
taken from another group. This has affected data, making it inaccurate, because these
results were measured on other group members. Another factor that could have
affected this investigation is the exercise type. The same exercise is to be completed
by all members of the group throughout the whole investigation. If one member was
to do 1 minute of simple star jumps, while another chose to do sprints, that would
affect the the results, because more intensity would of been put into sprinting than
star jumps, and that person would have a more increased function, making the results

Cognitive and Affective Characteristics of Gifted Children...
There are many cognitive and affective characteristics of intellectually gifted
adolescents which differ from those of their non gifted peers. These characteristics
have the potential to assist academic and social development, or conversely may
present social and academic difficulties for the adolescents. Two cognitive
characteristics and two affective characteristics typically associated with gifted
adolescents will be examined to explore the relationship between these characteristics
and their effect on social and academic development. The two cognitive
characteristics that will be examined is self regulation, and their dislike of slow

(Robinson Clinkenbeard, 1998) In a typical classroom without a curriculum
devised for gifted and talented students, the progress of the class will be perceived
as being slow paced. The gifted students will have already mastered the current
material, and in all likelihood, have already predicted correctly the next process, and
may be planning on studying by themselves to escape the slow pace. There are
various positive and negative aspects of this characteristic towards academic
development. The major disadvantage of a slow paced classroom is that the gifted
students may feel excessive levels of frustration at constantly being held back by the
class. Unless this frustration is addressed, this can lead to underachievement, or
constant disruption of the classroom environment. Teachers can address this
frustration by providing more challenging work for the gifted students once they
finished their assigned work, or possibly include challenging material for the whole
class to complete, as research has indicated that even non gifted students may find
some aspects of the current curriculum to be mere revision. (Robinson Clinkenbeard,
1998) Another consequence of gifted students dislike of slow paced work is
boredom. In a classroom where the students are not provided with challenging and
engaging work, the gifted students may slowly develop underachievement
tendencies, such as disengagement from the curriculum,
Parasitic Disease In The United States
When traveling to and from exotic locations, vacationers are warned about
drinking untreated water, swimming in freshwater lakes and streams, and against
eating certain foods. The risks for contracting a parasitic disease while abroad are
pretty well defined and as a traveler you are made aware. Less known are the risks
here at home. It is a fact however that parasitic diseases in the US are on the rise.
According to Dr. Oz approximately 1 in 3 Americans is infected with an intestinal
parasite at any given time. Specific statistic are not available because most Americans
who are infected may be unaware. Often the symptoms of neglected parasitic
infections are troublesome, however, vague. Therefore treatment is not immediately

19th Century Fashion Photography
The general notion on 19th century fashion photography is that it did not exist. This
is consider a falsity, since the contribution of Parisian fashion photographers dates
back to 1881. Perhaps this misbelief its fueled by the general assumption that
Americans were first in line when it came to fashion photography, due primarily to
Edward Steichen s statement that he was the first fashionphotographer (quote another
book*****), and the general understanding that Baron Adolph de Meyer was the first
photographer to depict fashion. Both of this statements place Americans in the
forefront, when in fact Paris was the first city to truly shone a light on fashion
photography. First as a document, then as a commodity and ultimately as an

Even though it was taken as a portrait the fashionable way of dressing by the
wealthy during sittings at that time still creates confusion when it comes to
stablishing the differences between a portrait and a fashion photo. During the
1850, photography was used to satirize fashion, an example of this was the
stereoscopic card made by the London Stereoscopic Company in 1870 (Image 2),
this card showcased Paris first couturier J.P. Worth trapped in the hood of a skirt,
while his clients looked on. This photograph constitutes a social commentary for the
time, not only on fashion but on social norms as well. The first fashion document to
be used commercially before the 1880 s was a carte de visite by Adolphe Reau

nature of the photograph suggest that it could have been used as an advertisement for

then that Will solves the complicated math equation. He is sent to jail but the

The movie really relates the main idea of the story and that is what psychologists
call intimacy. The two characters of Will and Sean are the central focus of the
movie. Skylark, Chuckie and his friends help in the bigger scope but the relationship
between the psychologist Sean and Will is what really counts in this tale.
The main focus is placed on Will, whom has a rare genius to put together abstract
math problems and finds it hard to relate to world without getting arrested for doing
something violent and rebellious. He grew up in South Boston and the hard streets
have jaded him, while his intelligence further isolated him from people and made
him hostile to other people. In the beginning of the film, Will is discovered by

The World s Largest Solar Collectors And Energy Storage...
We have many different kind of energy source in our world and the ocean is a big
part of one of thought energy source. The ocean makes up more than 70% of the
Earth s surface and it collects a lot of sun s heat and energy. This will make it the
world s largest solar collectors and energy storage system and the Ocean Thermal
Energy Conversion(OTEC) will probably seems like a great tool to have [7]. This
energy source works is by using the solar energy collected from the sun by the
ocean and converting that energy into electric energy. The OTEC uses the warm
ocean water that was heated up from the sun (around 77 degrees Fahrenheit) to
vaporize a working fluid with a low boiling point. The working fluid expands and
spins a generator, creating electricity. From there, the vapor is then cooled down
from the cold ocean water (around 41 degrees Fahrenheit) that is pumped up from
the deep parts of the ocean layer. This cause the vapor to turn back into the
working fluid from before and condenses back into a liquid. Because of this, the
whole system is reusable and is a continually electricity generating cycle [7]. This is
only one type out of three OTEC systems, known as closed cycle system. The other
two systems will be explain later on in the paper. This paper will explain different
aspects of the OTEC systems, from the different types that are currently being used to
the costs and environmental effect to the pros and cons of the OTEC systems.

John Rudolphus Booth (1827 1925) and Frederick Weyerhaeuser (1843 1914) were
two well known entrepreneurs of the North American lumber industry in the 19th
century. They are very contrasting characters that appear to have nothing in common.
They are from different parts of the world; Booth is Canadian and Weyerhaeuseris

In contrast to John R. Booth, we now look at the work and personality of Frederick
Weyerhaeuser respectively. Weyerhaeuser had been 18 when he moved to
America from Germany in 1852. He settled in Erie County, Pennsylvania after he
landed in America with his mother and sister. He got his first job at a brewery and
then later at a farm. He moved to the Rocky Island where he got the job of night
fireman at a sawmill. He got his first breakthrough here when he was appointed the
position of manager when the owners opened a new lumber yard. In 1860,
Weyerhaeuser formed a partnership with his wife s brother in law, Frank C. A.
Denkmann. Weyerhaeuser acquired a sawmill situated on land along the Mississippi
River. Weyerhaeuser and his partner took on sixteen other partners to form the
Mississippi River Logging Company and by 1870 he was elected president of this
company. Weyerhaeuser saw the prospect of lumber companies in the West and
opened the Weyerhaeuser Timber Company which had its headquarters in Tacoma,
Washington. Weyerhaeuser had more of a participative managerial style and his
business prospered through his many partnerships with his fellow businessmen. He

Class C Airspace
There was no need for airspace regulation in the US up until 1903 when the Wright
brothers began the modern age of air flight with a homemade aircraft. Then in 1905,
the work of the Wright brothers accumulated into the first practical aircraft that and
subsequent improvements that allowed aviation technology to develop into
commercial aircraft as well as war capable planes which were used in World War I.
Early aviation was quite dangerous as a result of no advanced navigational
technologies or automated flight systems. A great deal of human error was possible
with these early aircraft. During these times, pilots flew close enough to the ground
so that they could tell where they were going by using roadways and railways. This

A class C airspace must have met a basic physical infrastructure of a control tower
and a radar controlled approach system. The altitude limit for class C airspace is
usually 4000 ft above the airport. The overarching shelf like space has an upper and
lower region, each with a radius of 10 miles and 20 miles, respectively. Although prior
authorization/permission is not needed, aircraft that want to enter class C airspace
must establish radio communication with local air traffic control prior to entering the
airspace or be faced with trespassing. Aircraft pilots wishing to enter this area do
not need special certification but a speed limit of 230 mph must be obeyed below
the altitude of 2500 feet and the immediate area surrounding class C airspace.
Pilots must be willing to follow commands from ATC including requests not to
enter the airspace or to vacate the airspace. Class C airspace designation is only to be
effective while the control tower and radar controlled approach system are active.
Outside of these hours, the airspace becomes Class D or E airspace depending on if
the approach control is closed or the tower is
ICT In English Language Teaching
Once there was famine for information but today s generation is drowned in the
deluge of information. The ICT (Information and Communication Technology) has
been used in all fields of life, including education. In Indian education, the computer
technology has become so significant that the government has incorporated the ICT
in the curriculum. The use of the ICT in English Language Teaching has of late
started to stress the potential and significant progress in language learning. It has
become one of the major issues in the world of educationand has been in use from
preschool to the tertiary level which could facilitate students and teachers during the
process of teaching and learning. The ICT has been gaining vitality as it is an
enabling tool for educational revival as well. As indicated above, the importance of
the ICT as a teaching aid, especially in imparting the nuances of teaching and
learning English is being dealt with in detail in this paper.

Death Anxiety
There are two things in this life that we are all bound to encounter, stress and death.
Stress is something that affects each and every human, each and every day. Some of
us may have higher levels of stress than others. One reaction to stress may be
anxiety. Anxiety is a physiological, as well as a psychological state. Anxietymay be
viewed as a more intense form of stress. Each person will differ when it comes to
their own personal causes of anxiety but quite a common worrisome form is that of
deathanxiety. Every living human being will eventually die, that is a universal truth
but quite a bitter pill to swallow. What happens after death? Why is it my time to
die? When will I die? How will I die? Etc. These are the types of questions... Show

Past and future do not bum as brightly as the present the here and now will tell you
immediately who you are today. A result of the intense here and now perspective is
a lack of reflection, which is important for growth. It provides an opportunity to
interpret experience and grow from it. Reflection allows students to make choices.
When reflection is absent, new modes of action are hard to develop. Repeated car
accidents, lower death anxiety scores found in this study, and other consistent life
threatening behaviors, may be related to this lack of reflection (Article 1, pg.15).
This quote, more or less sums up the view of life from an adolescent perspective. It
is quite hard to decipher the experience of death and what one can learn from their
dealings with death that will make it easier to deal with. There is also a link
between low levels of death anxiety and high risk behavior. The less one thinks of
their own death, the more likely they are to engage in risky activity that could end in
the one thing they do not think about, death.
As stated before, death anxiety is not a discriminatory disorder; it affects both men
and women. The area of who suffers more is not so crystal clear though. It is quite
murky considering there have been surveys where women have a somewhat
significant higher level of death anxiety than men, as well as surveys where it is
quite equal. There is a noticeable difference in how females view

Three of Carrey s best movies were released in 1994, they were Ace Ventura

Award nomination and Dumb and Dumber was a commercial success that was also
well received by the critics.
His movie, The Truman Show allowed Carrey to edge away from broad comedy
and got him his first Golden Globe Award. In 2004, He acted in Eternal Sunshine of
The Spotless Mind which was called his best, most mature and sharply focused
performance. This movie garnered him his second Golden Globe Award. Later, he

King Khafra ( Or Chephren )
King Khafra (or Chephren, this vision is shown in the description for his statue in
Egyptian Museum), who s name and face are well known by the Second Pyramid
and the Great Sphinx, is now sitting in the exhibition of old kingdom in the Egyptian
Museum, Cairo. A statue of King Khafre which comes from 2500BC is now placed
in the centre of the exhibition. It is found in Khafra s magnificent Valley Temple, and
is believed to be the one of the twenty tree statues which belonged to the Valley
Temple in Giza. The statuary is the quintessential expression of kingship, and it
reflects factors concerning art, culture, economy or other elements during 4th
Dynasty in ancient Egypt. According to Egyptian sculptor Adam Haneen, The Old

The false beard is broken, but it does not loss its meaning: a symbol of god. Most
of the male gods in ancient Egypt wearing beards. The beard is a fascinating
element in ancient Egyptian art, most of the pharaonic sculpture has a false beard,
to claim the position of royal family, and an embodiment of gods, because the
beard was considered to be a divine attribute of the gods. In accordance with this
religious formula, the pharaoh would express his status as a living god by wearing
a false beard secured by a cord on certain occasions. Also, the false beard can
support the head of the sculpture to avoid breaking from the neck. What under his
serious looking face is a muscular body. Egyptian were expert in idealizing their
rulers, and this one is no exception. It is difficult to believe that all the pharaohs
had such good build as they used to be richest, well looked after men. However
most of the pharaohs convince everyone that he is the best man in the world, he is
divine, and chosen by the gods, no wonder why they have a perfect body. Besides,
a muscular and powerful body is required in a sense of protecting all his people
from the enemies. In contrast to the pharaoh, the sculpture of Sheikh el Balad, who
was the chief lector priest, is far more life like for a fat body with a beer belly. The
sculpture of Sheikh el Balad is displayed just next to the Diorite Statue of King
Khafra, the difference between the two statues is obvious. The Diorite Statue of
The Use Of Tension In Fences By August Wilson
Family is not always the easiest thing to deal with as families always seem to get
into disagreements. This is shown in the play Fences by August Wilson which is full
of tension between the main character, Troy, and his various family members. Troy s
many bad decisions and mistakes cause a lot of hate to be directed at him and a lot of
arguments ensue throughout the play. August Wilsonuses many narrativeelements in
the play to make it more interesting and show the tension more clearly. Overall, in the
play Fences August Wilson uses narrative elements such as father son conflict,
contrasting motifs, and characterization to show characters problems to create
tension between characters.
One narrative element that August Wilson uses in his play Fences to create
tension, is that of conflict which he uses to show the tension that exists between
Troy and his oldest son, Lyons. Lyons was raised by Troy s ex wife but now
frequently stops by Troy s house to borrow money which he seldom repays. One
day, after Lyons has stopped by asking for ten dollars, Troy makes a comment to
his best friend, Bono, saying, What I tell you, Bono? The only time I see this nigger
is when he wants something. (16) This shows a conflict over money that is present
between Troy and Lyons which is caused by and adds to the tension that exists in the
play between these characters and others. August Wilson s addition of conflict with
Troy and Lyons story is able to show the immense tension that Troy
Leadership Lessons From Ramayana And Steve Jobs
Leadership lessons from Ramayana and its relevance to Steve jobs
The world steps aside to a person who knows where he or she is going Mahatma

The Ramayana is one of the greatest epics of Hindu Mythology. It is not just a story,
but also an educational medium used by the ancient sages to espouse the importance
of doing your dharma (duty). Lessons from Ramayana are a part of teaching
leadership, management and governance at many prestigious management
institutions. Here we will talk about leadership quality of Ramayana s main character
Ram and its relevance to Apple s co founder Steve Jobs.

How Does Andrew Clements Use Of Figurative Language
2) In my found poem I was trying to illuminate the imagery and figurative language
found throughout the book, and show how it enhances the reading experience. This
passage was describing the sun setting and the night flowers blooming. By
condensing the passage into a found poem the figurative language and imagery were
highlighted, the not needed words cut out, and the words in general being switched
around. In the poem there is one simile that was in the original passage that I think
stands out, Darkness poured out, covering trees till they were dim as the bottom of
the sea. I chose this scene because in my opinion poems are better when they re full
of figurative language, and this one is. 1) Andrew Clements believes that dystopian

Teaching Interest Case Study
Statement of teaching interests My main objective as a teacher is to challenge
students to reach out of their comfort zones, while making students comfortable with
and enthusiastic about that challenge. I consider putting the subject in a more global
perspective for the students to get the bigger picture to be an important component of
excellent teaching. For this purpose, I would like to integrate the innovative
technologies with the course materials which would be the keys to solve current
global environmental change issues and to predict future change. I would like to
establish a new course in the emerging field of environmental proteomics with a view
to complement ongoing detailed genomic and transcriptomic studies of... Show more

To teach at the undergraduate level, courses should be started with the basics.
Moreover, I constantly adapt exercises and classroom dynamics to ensure that all
students enjoy participating and understand completely. At the end of the class, I
leave five minutes for students to cool down by helping me to sum up the lesson s
main issues or methodological approaches.
I believe this integration will both motivate the students and show the importance of
the topic. I also believe that hands on experience is invaluable in learning. Therefore,
I plan to give such experiences to students by practical and interesting assignments
and projects. Especially for graduate level courses, I would like to direct the students
toward research by new attractive projects relation with climate changes that would
lead to new tools and techniques. Students learn best when they are active
participants and not passive listeners. These are the cornerstones of my teaching
philosophy. As a member of the faculty in your department, I would continually strive
to teach in an active style that engages the students and gets them excited about the
topic. I would design courses that establish problem solving skills and hypothesis
driven learning. Specifically, in my lectures and laboratory courses, I would introduce
students to current research from my own and internationally reported data. So, the
A Wondering Ideal in Walden Essay
Henry David Thoreau writes of his experiences in his two year experiment of self
reliance on Walden Pond near Concord, Massachusetts. It is my opinion that Thoreau
thought of himself as better than the average person and to an extent better than the
person reading his very work. The allusions and ideals expressed in this work wreak
of a smug and better than though context. The purpose of this experiment was to
enact the philosophies and ideals of self reliance and simplicity. His ideaof simplicity
is strewn throughout this work, ranting through a seemingly indecipherable mixture
of allusions, metaphors, and actual ideas. One that I think is really very important is
the concept of modern improvements (Thoreau 95). During a... Show more content on

Although I do not agree, his reasoning behind it is quite simple. The distance that a
train travels is thirty miles and its fare for this distance is ninety cents, almost a
days wage (96). He says that he can ultimately arrive quicker on foot, than a person
riding this train. He can walk this distance with no cost or debts involved but to ride
this train a person must first work to earn this ninety cents and then take the train,
which then in turn, will sum to be more time consuming than simply walking this
distance. This example is one of many that further reinforce this idea of self reliance
and simplicity.
The chapter titled Where I lived, and What I lived for talks about his search for a
plot of land suitable for his intended purpose, among other things. In my opinion,
his ideas wander through metaphors and references that may have been suited for
different readers with a different knowledge base. In the second page of this
chapter, his whole idea of simplicity is brought up again. He says that, a man is rich
in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone (126). In my
estimation, he simply means that a man is rich, not in terms of tangible wealth, but
in knowledge and self control by what he stand to live without. Thoreau tells us that
his home was located by the shore of a small pond, about a mile and a half south of
the village of Concord
Jacobsen vs Nike
Individual Assignment ENMN 430

Legal Case Brief
Jacobson vs. Nike Canada Inc.,
Instructor: Connie Carter
November 9th, 2014
Introduction
In the case of Jacobsen vs. Nike Canada Ltd, Mr. Jacobsen an employer of Nike
Canada Ltd was seriously injured in a car accident as a result of alcohol
consumption while at work. This paper will prove that the defendant (Nike Canada
Ltd.) was negligent in all the four elements of Negligence and therefore liable for the
injuries. Also it will explain for any legal defense that the employer (Nike Canada
Ltd.) might be able to raise.
Relevant Facts.
Mr. Jacobsen was an employee of Nike Canada Ltd.
The employer, through its representative, supplied the ... Show more content on

Was there a breach of standard of care?
Nike is obligated to provide a safe working environment particularly if the job is
inherently dangerous. The employer (Nike) must hire competent representatives.
Nike s representative, supplied the workers with considerable amounts of beer.
Providing alcohol while at work jeopardizes work safety and as a result breaches the
duty of care that the employer is obligated to provide.
Causation?
It is very clear that alcohol consumption is the main cause of the accident. Applying
the but for test we can say: but for consuming the alcohol, the collision would not
have occurred.
Damages?
Nike failed to exercise reasonable care and as a result Mr. Jacobsen was involved in a
single vehicle accident, which left him with physical damages (quadriplegic).
Counter Argument Assumption of Risk and Contributory Negligence
Nike could use assumption of risk and contributory negligence as part of their
defense and show that the plaintiff s negligence contributed to the accident.
Although Nike provided alcohol in the work place it could argue that Jacobsen
was voluntary drinking and was aware of the danger arising from driving
intoxicated. Therefore, he knew the risk and voluntarily assumed the risk by
engaging in the behavior. Also Nike could claim that it does not owe a duty of care
to Jacobsen because he was released of his duties when he was driving.

Unnatural Treatment Of Animals In Animal Captivity
Man made environments or animals are not right and unsuitable for their living.
These animals are subjected to an unnatural environment. This causes confusion
which then leads to hostility potentially sending an animal to its death when they try
to rebel. Then they are mistreated for scientific purposes or beaten to fulfill a purpose.
All these horrific things can happen to an animal that is forcibly taken from its home
and sent into man made environments. Many horrific things happen to animals while
in human captivity. One of these things is the unnatural treatment of animals in
captivity. Animals in the wild must work for their food and this makes them stronger
and more capable to survive. These animals in captivity however, do
Joseph Mccarthy Red Scare
Joseph McCarthy During the late 1940s and early 1950s, the idea of communist
subversion was becoming frighteningly real. These fears came to define and, in
some cases, corrode the era s political culture. For many Americans, the most
enduring symbol of this Red Scare was Republican Senator Joseph P. McCarthy of
Wisconsin. McCarthy spent almost five years trying in vain to expose communists
and other left wing loyalty risks in the U.S. government. In February 1950, appearing
at the Ohio County Women s Republican Club in Wheeling, West Virginia,
McCarthy gave a speech that boosted him into the national spotlight. Waving a piece
of paper in the air, he declared that he had a list of 205 known members of the
Communist Party who were working... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, many of McCarthy s Democratic and Republican colleagues, including
President Dwight Eisenhower, disapproved of his tactics ( I will not get into the
gutter with this guy, the president told his aides). Still, the senator continued his so
called Red baiting campaign. In 1953, at the beginning of his second term as senator,
McCarthy was put in charge of the Committee on Government Operations, which
allowed him to launch even more expansive investigations of the alleged communist
infiltration of the federal government. In hearing after hearing, he aggressively
interrogated witnesses in what many came to perceive as a blatant violation of their
civil rights. Despite a lack of any proof of subversion, more than 2,000 government
employees lost their jobs as a result of McCarthy s
The Pros And Cons Of Correctional Facilities
Correctional facility is a term that may be used to refer to a jail, prison, or other
place of incarceration by government officials. They serve to confine and
rehabilitate prisoners and may be classified as minimum, medium, or maximum
security facilities, or contain separate divisions for such categories of prisoners. The
prisoners may participate in educational and vocational programs as well as in paid
industries programs or a work release program. In past, prisons have been viewed as
undesirable, and communities have traditionally lobbied against the placement of
correction facilities in their midst.

The Federal and the states government spent a lot of budget but it is not effective.
Inside correction place only offenders who want to correct themselves, they are
working oneself. The United States provided many department and facilities for
correction so later they will come in society and live life different than before. The
correctional facility for juvenile is very bad condition. In the room, if they play,
they get beaten not only for play but also they make a noise. Everybody gets
beaten up. There is not a single kid who does not get by the guards. The kids have
a few choices and limited boundaries. They have to follow many rules and
regulation. They have to sand on line and they cannot cross it. If they are cross red
line, they would punish by guard or officer. The kids are said that it is not staying
locked up in the cell, they cannot sleep and there is nothing to do. The time passes
so slowly and hours are empty, they just sit doing nothing. Some guess they do not
know that why they are in prison. They are not excited because there is nothing
special, just the same schedule every day. Some of them medical help, but they can
get it.They are looked like afraid with the police. They do not want to get into
trouble with the police no more. Most of the kids are very confused about when

The Ethics Of Confucian Business Ethics
EDMP: An Analysis in Support of Confucian Business Ethics in Harmony of the
Business Environment
(160)Issue: The one question brought forth by Lagan (2006) is the conflict between
harmony in the business environment and the competition of capitalistic markets in
the ethical debate on the efficacy of Confucian business ethics. Lagan s (2006) case
study effectively defines the overarching harmony of universal mandates defined by
Confucius, which argued against the pro capitalist interpretations of Confucian
values to adapt to modern business ethics. In my own views, I believe in this
traditional form of the three rules of Confucian ethics: human morality, relationships,
and harmony. The importance of morality and relationships are vital to preserving
good business connections, but more so, it is important to understand how these
business relationships create harmony in the community. In this case study, I intend
to focus on resolving the conflict between self centered capitalistic tendencies in the
business community with Confucian business ethics as a source of harmony in the
workplace.
Stakeholders:
In Confucian business ethics the typical stakeholders are the businessperson, family
members, he client, and the community that is served in these business agreements.
These asocial groups define the capitalistic system of business exchange, which
identifies the businessperson, the client, and the social organizations that bind all
parties together as stakeholders in this
The Importance Of Teaching Writing
Writing, according to the students, is a secondary in comparison to how the other
skills are thaught such as reading and listening. The students view writing in ELI a
subordinate skill that is used to practice vocabulary and grammar with limited
attention put on the writing skill per se. It is used to reinforce vocabulary items
taught in the reading, practice grammatical rules, and recompose correct sentence
structure containing the topic assigned. Teachers expressed that writing is a sub
skill. Teacher E says, [i]t s a sub skill of course. It s a sub skill but they are marked
on it (D3, line172). Like teachers, students perceive writing in the same way, Banan
observed that teachers do not give much importance to teachingwriting: I ve... Show

I think the curriculum is useful (Banan, F3, line 8). Students noticed a difference
between the workshops teaching approaches to writing, and their regular classes.
Banan describes the rigid teaching method practised by teachers saying; They tell
us a topic and you have to write in a certain way, but here we learn how to write and
we learn the basics of writing (Banan, P3, line 4). Banan describes how learning is
applied in the workshops whereas in their ELI classes, learning takes place at a
minimum. For instance, even though the students take vocabulary in their classes,
they lack the skills to use the words in their writing: I originally didn t know
grammatical rules or writing principles, so the workshops helped me in that way
even in level one, they didn t used to tell us the organization of the sentence like
first subject and then verb. I never knew anything like that, so in the workshops
you gave us rules in the beginning and benefited a lot from it. Also the vocabulary,
there are words in the books but we don t benefit from them in writing, even when
you write, you don t think of using them, which is the opposite of the workshops,
the words we take are varied and can use them in the writing, so it helps a lot.
(Banan, P3, line 6)
From the quote above there appears to be a lack in meeting the students needs in
ELI classes. Nawal describes this saying, [l]ike now, she doesn t give us words, gives
us a topic and tells us to write about it

Writing An Essay Outline Template. Writing an outline for an essay. Learning To Write An Outline For An ...

  • 1. Writing An Essay Outline Template Writing an essay on the topic "Writing An Essay Outline Template" may seem paradoxical at first glance. The irony lies in the challenge of encapsulating the essence of structuring an essay into a coherent outline while concurrently grappling with the complexities of elucidating the process itself. The task necessitates a nuanced understanding of the intricacies involved in crafting a clear and effective template. One of the difficulties stems from the need to strike a balance between providing a comprehensive guide for creating an essay outline and avoiding the pitfall of overwhelming the reader with excessive details. Crafting an outline template involves a delicate dance between conciseness and informativeness, requiring the writer to distill the essential components of the essay structure without sacrificing clarity. Moreover, the challenge lies in navigating the subjective nature of outlining preferences. Different disciplines and writing styles may demand distinct approaches to organizing thoughts, arguments, and supporting evidence. Tailoring the outline template to suit a diverse range of topics and essay types adds another layer of complexity to the task. The writer must also grapple with the paradox of maintaining creativity within the rigid framework of an outline. While the template serves as a roadmap, there is a danger of stifling the natural flow of ideas. Striking a harmonious balance between structure and flexibility becomes a cognitive tightrope walk, where the risk of veering into either extreme looms large. In conclusion, crafting an essay on the intricacies of creating an essay outline template presents a paradoxical challenge. It demands the synthesis of clarity and conciseness, the ability to cater to diverse writing styles, and the delicate balance between structure and creativity. Successfully navigating these complexities requires a keen understanding of the intricacies involved in the art of outlining. For those seeking assistance with such essays or exploring a broader array of topics, similar essays and more comprehensive support can be found on HelpWriting.net. • 2. Kyrie Irving Research Paper In order to manage a professional sporting organization, you must treat it as a business. Irving was impressive as a basketball player from an early age. As the number one draft pick in 2011, there was a strong indication that the Cavaliers made the right choice A year removed from LeBron James acrimonious departure from Cleveland and team president Dan Gilbert s meltdown, Kyrie was seen as a sort of savior for a franchise and a city needing a hero (Boyd). When practice began for the organization it was a constant frenzy of different people as well as media who just wanted a glimpse of his play. Lebron James, the number one player in the world, was quite busy posting pictures on his social media of his vacation in the weeks after their loss in the NBA finals to the Golden State Warriors. One would never know that there were frustrations and turmoil brewing back at home within the franchise of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Today, when watching the coverage on ESPN, it seems the foundation of the franchise is getting ready to be dismantled. The reports seem to suggest that Kyrie Irving is at the point of his career in which he no longer wants to be known as the number two man on the Cleveland Cavaliers and that he has demanded a trade.... He does, however, have his flaws and some of the writers are not too kind when writing about him At bottom, he s a gunner, a shoot first point guard who hasn t made teammates better so far in his career. His defense is miserable, and while he s an efficient scorer, he has a bad tendency to shoot his team out of games (Flom). With that being said, it is still my opinion that he will make a huge impact on any team and will continue to grow as a
  • 3. Similarities Between Persia And Greece While reading chapter four, I gathered that Persia and Greece, both countries which flourished at the same time, were both similar in political and social advancements but also had many differences namely, religions and philosophies. Greece was made of many small city states due to the fact their citizens had to move often because they were under pressure from war, the large population and poverty. Alternatively, Persia, a country with much less war, created the largest empire of their time. From the long and eventful time period of 1000 B.C.E. to 30 B.C.E., Iranian and Hellenistic lifestyles and experiences were filled with new ideas. Persia and Greecewere both growing at the same time so many similarities were shared. When it came to the development and interaction of cultures there were similarities of science and technology and the arts and architecture. Persian philosophy did not occur until well after the Greeks . Ancient Greek philosophy arose in the 6th century B.C.E. and continued throughout the Hellenistic period and the period in which Ancient Greece was part of the Roman Empire. It dealt with a wide variety of subjects, including political philosophy, ethics, metaphysics, ontology, logic, biology, rhetoric, and aesthetics. Greek philosophers were seekers and lovers of wisdom . They studied and analyzed the world around them using logic and reason. Although we often think of philosophy as religion or the meaning of life , the Greek philosophers were also scientists. Many studied mathematics and physics as well. Often the philosophers were teachers of wealthy children. Some of the more famous ones opened their own schools or academies. Some of the most famous Greek philosophers were Socrates, Plato, and

HISTORICAL CONTEXT OF NURSING HISTORICAL CONTEXT OF NURSING When exploring the pages of history, it becomes apparent that nursing has always existed and has primarily functioned within a framework of human caring. This legacy of human caring dates back to biblical times and has been integrated into every facet of nursing. This content will discuss an overview of the historical evolution of nursing and nurse leaders that have shaped its current status. They believed in the yin and yang philosophy; an imbalance between the two would result in ill health. Central to Confucius teaching was service to the community and the value of the family as a unit. Yin: represented the feminine forces, which was considered negative and passive. Yang represented the masculine forces, which were positive and active. Taijitu is the traditional symbol that represents the forces of yin and yang. The most recognized form is composed of two semi circular teardrop shaped curves of different colors, or a circle separated by an S shaped line, where each half is marked with a dot in a differing color. The two color choices are traditionally black and white. • 5. The Parables In The Gospel Of Luke s Gospel The parables in the Gospel of Luke are meant to be a guide for everyday living; this gives Christians a path to live their lives so as to merit the Kingdom of heaven. As God the Father sent His Son to earth to teach us how to live in His goodness, His Son teaches Christians through parables as written in Luke. Luke s Gospelconfirms that Jesusis the Son of God, thus dispelling doubts. Luke s Gospels are part of the synoptic gospels. That means that they are parallel in stories with the gospels of the other two writers, Matthew and Mark. (The fourth writer, John, is not similar to Luke and not considered a part of the synoptic gospels.) The three writers portray the stories in a comparable fashion with similar wording and point of view (Goodacre). Luke s writing, in the form of parables, lies within the canonical gospels, which were most likely written in 50 60 A.D. (J.F. MacArthur). This is an approximate date, of course, but it is based on the writings found in the Acts of the Apostles, a subsequent book of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Denandian Welfare Model International economics assignment 2 Compare and contrast the key elements of the Danish welfare model, with that of the Central European welfare model. A welfare state is something most rich and developed industrialised countries have. They are usually divided into three different categories; The liberal welfare model also known as the Anglo Saxon or residual, the central European welfare model also known as the continental or insurance based and the Scandinavian or universal welfare model. In Denmark we have the Scandinavian welfare model also known as the universal welfare model. Denmark, or the north s welfare system is very different from the rest of the world, because of the high provision of social services. The Danish welfare model has a very high provision of social services, meaning that education and healthcare is free for everybody. The social services also include monthly financial subsidizes, when out of work (kontanthjГ¦lp), when taking an education (SU), child support and much more. All of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Scandinavian welfare model, is usually criticized for having a very high tax burden. Because healthcare, education etc. is free for everybody we pay a high very high tax. Some argue it s a very good thing because by doing so, we ensure to help the weakest in society so that nobody is left behind, and by so keeping our society as efficient as possible. This leads to a very safe society, where most people thrive because they aren t desperate for the basic needs like a home and sustenance. On the other hand, this high tax burden has been criticized by economists, because it might slow down the economic growth, and competitive opportunity. If people can stay at home and receive almost the same salary as if they were working, it will make society much more inefficient, and people tend to work less because it simply won t pay
  • 7. Analysis Of The Princess And The Frog Disney films over their course of existence have hidden double meanings in many of the films they produce. Rather if you are a child or a full pledged adult, people from all different ages can receive a bit of advice when it comes to what Disney films try to convey in their motion pictures. Disney is also to be known for some of their unforgettable whimsical characters and memorable songs in every film. The film released in 2009 The Princess and The Frogis no different. Especially when it comes to Mama s Odie s musical number half way through the film. Mama s Odie s song, Dig a Little Deeperis full of metaphors, themes and imagery one can deeply analyze. At the same time we can apply the song, Dig a Little Deeper, to various characters we have come to learn and explore through the several novels we have covered over the course of the semester. We can also apply it to the distinct issues pertaining to women in the South. The title of the song itself gives the viewer the overall significant and direct theme of the piece right away. It urges a person to go beyond the surface of a circumstance almost saying as if to go into the root or origin of the matter. To find who a person really is at the core of their being. At the start of the song Mama Odie comes off as a non judgmental person. Don t matter what you look like. Don t matter what you wear. How many rings you got on your finger. We don t care. Being in front of her and don referring to her lack of sight,
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Pitbulls Dogs come in just about every size and shape you can imagine. There are fluffy ones, sleek ones, fast ones, heavy ones, long ones, short ones, and everything in between. But with each breed comes a different public view of how safe or aggressive that dog may be. Each breed of dog has a unique history, and with that, a reputation. For example, when you think of the corgi, you might think of the Queen of England, who famously has many such dogs. But unfortunately, sometimes a breed s reputation does it more damage than good. An example of this situation is the pitbull. Should pitbulls be considered aggressive and dangerous breeds? I do not think that they should. In recent years, most people will not allow their children to play with pitbulls.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One valid reason that pitbulls are not dangerous is thataggressionin dogs is based on how theyare raised, trained, and handled on a day to day basis.Any dog, regardless of breed, can become dangerous or extremely aggressiveif treated poorly. Abused animals become defensive and mistrusting of humans. This can lead to attacks if the dog feels threatened by the presence of a person. The dog would lash out to protect itself, which is understandable if it has learned that humans mean danger through a life of mistreatment.A man could train his great dane to attack a personwho entered hisproperty just as easily as he could train a pitbull, with the same results. If a dog is raised properly, and shown love and affection and socialized from a young age, they can be good, loyal companionsand great pets. Thisfact does not apply to only certain breeds of dogs, but all dogs in general. The media overplays the danger of bullybreeds. In a study conducted bythe Canine Research Council, the local media was monitored on how many articleswere put out based on four dog bite related
  • 9. The Common Notion Of Minds Essay The common notion about minds is that they are incredibly simple things that we should easily have the full extent of knowledge on since after all we are constantly using one. It seems completely self evident as Descartes put it I think there for, I am , that we are a mind and that there is nothing strange going on up there but there is much more to the story here. It s taken for granted far too much that we have any idea of what a mindis and is not. There are quite a numerous amount of different notions of mind that we take as given from what we observe naturally, but we are to look at for the most part one in particular. Many if asked what their opinion was on what they believed thoughts to be made of would be largely perplexed by the question thinking it unworthy of consideration due to believing there is nothing to debate, while some would state brain waves, impulses, or some similar stuff involving the brain. Others though might state that they believe them to be made of stuff wholly different from what we are made of or any material for that matter. This concept that the mind may be made of some intangible substance dates all the way back to the 1500 s with a man named Descartes. Cartesian Dualism, Descartes philosophy of mind, puts forward the idea that there are two substances in the universe. One being the natural physical matter we are all commonly acquainted with and the other being the immaterial mental matter which we would, if real, would only interact with
  • 10. Technological Advancements And Technology Technology is intended to improve our lives and since the dawn of man progress continues to take shape. We consider technological advances as modern conveniences, and in many respects they improve our lives. The consideration is how to use and integrate these advancements effectively into life. Consider the evolution of the Smartphone and it unknown long term effects on society. For example, people born after 1995 have virtually grown up with the Smartphone technology and they are affecting an entire generation often referred to as the iGeneration. While progress is good in many ways, the costs are revealed as time passes. Teenagers do not understand a world without technology, in particular, smartphones and their effects on their socialization, mental health, and physical health. Smartphones quite possibly could be making the iGeneration less smart and less fulfilled. Take for example social media and how it interfaces with our society. We post on various platforms to show a sense of happiness with the social interactions in which we engage. Selfies have become the norm. The cost of all the fascination of social media connections is showing a negative trend among teens of the iGeneration. Facebook wipes away face to face interactions. Instagram posts do not get enough instant likes. Snapchat can get you into trouble in a snap. These technological advances are affecting the socialization process of this generation. Most teens stay home more, communicate through texts
  • 11. The Crucible Danforth s Downfall Essay Responsible? The Salem Tragedy of 1692 was a cumulative downfall, wherein no singular person was responsible, but instead everybody was in his or her own way. At this time in history the people of Massachusetts were like dominos, rigidly set up in lines across the board, but all too close for comfort. So close to the tipping point, that one small factor would send them all hurtling over the edge. Though the Salem tragedy was a group effort, one such member played a higher role in the destruction. Judge Danforth, the epitome of theocracy at the time believed you were either for God, or you were not, and there was no road in between. This quickly caused destruction as the system of society began to turnon itself. Those who did not know their commandments were assumed to be cavorting with the devil, and Judge Danforth, power hungry with lynchings, called all the shots. It is evident when he says, And do you know that near to 400 are in jail from Marblehead to Lynn, and upon my signature?... And 72 condemned to hang by that signature? In her two minutes speech, Michelle officially kicked off United We Serve, a plea to all Americans to join a volunteer endeavor and be part of constructing a new foundation for America, one society at a time (The Obama White House, 2009). The program was managed by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal organization devoted to development service in communities across America. The introduction of her speech immediately captures the audience attention. She refers from president Obama s remarks on the challenges facing Americans. She then moves on to launch her idea on the volunteerism program immediately outlining the efforts the government has put in place to help address the economic challenges. Her language is clearly stated and she uses persuasive words to convince the Americans (the audience) to join the initiative (Dlugan, 2008). She engaged the audience s mind in the current state and provides best alternatives. She then states the need states the need for intervention and calls for audience attention. Before President Obama left office he promised to help the LGBT community to gain their rights and also appeal the DADT. Our government should take more procession with their rights we have hateful people out there and would like to terminate them. In 2016 the military lifted the ban on transgender people. • 15. The Threat Of Food Sources THREAT TO FOOD SOURCES Climate change doesn t just mean that certain species will suffer from the loss of habitat. There will be a cascade effect up and down the food chain, affecting the most basic species of prey and apex predators alike. Dominant predators with a strong preference for a carnivorous diet are arguably more vulnerable to destruction of their environments. If the prey population suffers, it directly affects the survival of the predators that depend on them. Polar bears have an especially focused diet, and seals are their prefered prey. Interestingly, the milk produced by polar bear mothers is more similar to that of pinnipeds (seals) than it is to milk of most terrestrial mammals (Amstrup, 599). Like polar bears, several species of seal depend on a reliable presence of sea ice in order to breed (Derocher 2004, p. 168). A dwindling seal population will almost certainly affect polar bears. Polar bears are unique from their omnivorous cousins in that they have adapted to an arctic climate with a specialized diet. Ringed seals make up the majority of their diet, along with other species of seal, whales, and walruses (Thiemann 2008, p. 591). Although I have previously argued here is some hope that polar bears can adapt to different food sources like geese and caribou, further research indicates that a diet of land animals such as geese and their eggs is a poor substitute. First of all, the list of prey I mentioned all have one thing in common: A thick

We frequently encounter emotional facial expressions in our daily lives. These facial expressions help us to judge an individual s attitudes and feelings. But is there really a time distortion between angry and happy faces, and how does this time distortion occur? In 1977, John Gibbon described the Scalar Expectancy Theory in animals. Gibbons created a model for the passage of time using internal pulses, these pulses are sent out by the pacemaker. The pacemaker emits pulses at regular intervals without any disruptions. Pulses flow from the pacemaker into the accumulator through the switch. When the switch is closed the pulses enter the accumulator, and stop when the switch is open. • 24. Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Analysis Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote Self Reliance , a piece that comments on what people should focus on in their lives, and becoming self reliant. Self reliance is the idea of doing things for yourself, focusing on yourself rather than what you re doing for societal reasons. This is an interesting way to look at one s selfidentity. When looking at life through a self reliant individualist view, one can find different perspectives or take a ways from different literary pieces or when analyzing an individual s actions or motivations. When looking at, Rip Van Winkle, William Wilson , Ministers Black Veil and Wakefield we can gather a different take away when looking at how the main characters go through different identity crises and how it correlated to self reliant individualism, in the ways it all affected the main character and others in the stories. When looking at these four stories, the main characters go through identity crisis s, that affect themselves as well as other characters who slowly begin thinking about their own self identity. In Rip Van Winkle , the readers learn about a man who goes out into the woods to go hunting, he meets a man by the name of Hudson, who he drinks with along with a few other people, and he eventually goes to sleep under a tree. He awakes, and twenty years has passed since he left for hunting, and feel asleep. The main character comes to the realization that all this time has passed, his wife has died, which he seemed to be indifferent to, and his son and daughter are grown now. He realizes that his whole world, the small and quant town, his family/friends, have all moved on without him and he s left in his old ways. The town and society itself have changed in big ways, for example, the small inn is now a large hotel named Yankee, and the Revolutionary War has already happened, so the once small Dutch town is a growing town under George Washington, where all the people who inhabit it are described as active and concerned citizens, who are more focused on material possessions and change rather than the desire for stability. Rip Van Winkle is welcomed back and accepted, even though he is seen as a quirky man who is almost blissfully ignorant, while being completely harmless

(Robinson Clinkenbeard, 1998) In a typical classroom without a curriculum devised for gifted and talented students, the progress of the class will be perceived as being slow paced. The gifted students will have already mastered the current material, and in all likelihood, have already predicted correctly the next process, and may be planning on studying by themselves to escape the slow pace. There are various positive and negative aspects of this characteristic towards academic development. The major disadvantage of a slow paced classroom is that the gifted students may feel excessive levels of frustration at constantly being held back by the class. Unless this frustration is addressed, this can lead to underachievement, or constant disruption of the classroom environment. Teachers can address this frustration by providing more challenging work for the gifted students once they finished their assigned work, or possibly include challenging material for the whole class to complete, as research has indicated that even non gifted students may find some aspects of the current curriculum to be mere revision. (Robinson Clinkenbeard, 1998) Another consequence of gifted students dislike of slow paced work is boredom. In a classroom where the students are not provided with challenging and engaging work, the gifted students may slowly develop underachievement tendencies, such as disengagement from the curriculum,

The main focus is placed on Will, whom has a rare genius to put together abstract math problems and finds it hard to relate to world without getting arrested for doing something violent and rebellious. He grew up in South Boston and the hard streets have jaded him, while his intelligence further isolated him from people and made him hostile to other people. In the beginning of the film, Will is discovered by Lambeu (Stellan Skarsgard) a professor of mathematics, and his well being becomes a serious issue and he is pursued. While placing a difficult math problem on the chalkboard

  • 33. The World s Largest Solar Collectors And Energy Storage... We have many different kind of energy source in our world and the ocean is a big part of one of thought energy source. The ocean makes up more than 70% of the Earth s surface and it collects a lot of sun s heat and energy. This will make it the world s largest solar collectors and energy storage system and the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion(OTEC) will probably seems like a great tool to have [7]. This energy source works is by using the solar energy collected from the sun by the ocean and converting that energy into electric energy. The OTEC uses the warm ocean water that was heated up from the sun (around 77 degrees Fahrenheit) to vaporize a working fluid with a low boiling point. The working fluid expands and spins a generator, creating electricity. From there, the vapor is then cooled down from the cold ocean water (around 41 degrees Fahrenheit) that is pumped up from the deep parts of the ocean layer. This cause the vapor to turn back into the working fluid from before and condenses back into a liquid. Because of this, the whole system is reusable and is a continually electricity generating cycle [7]. This is only one type out of three OTEC systems, known as closed cycle system. The other two systems will be explain later on in the paper. This paper will explain different aspects of the OTEC systems, from the different types that are currently being used to the costs and environmental effect to the pros and cons of the OTEC systems. Some of us may have higher levels of stress than others. One reaction to stress may be anxiety. Anxiety is a physiological, as well as a psychological state. Anxietymay be viewed as a more intense form of stress. Each person will differ when it comes to their own personal causes of anxiety but quite a common worrisome form is that of deathanxiety. Every living human being will eventually die, that is a universal truth but quite a bitter pill to swallow. What happens after death? Why is it my time to die? When will I die? How will I die? Etc. A result of the intense here and now perspective is a lack of reflection, which is important for growth. It provides an opportunity to interpret experience and grow from it. Reflection allows students to make choices. When reflection is absent, new modes of action are hard to develop. Repeated car accidents, lower death anxiety scores found in this study, and other consistent life threatening behaviors, may be related to this lack of reflection (Article 1, pg.15). This quote, more or less sums up the view of life from an adolescent perspective. It is quite hard to decipher the experience of death and what one can learn from their dealings with death that will make it easier to deal with. There is also a link between low levels of death anxiety and high risk behavior. The less one thinks of their own death, the more likely they are to engage in risky activity that could end in the one thing they do not think about, death. As stated before, death anxiety is not a discriminatory disorder; it affects both men and women. The area of who suffers more is not so crystal clear though. It is quite murky considering there have been surveys where women have a somewhat significant higher level of death anxiety than men, as well as surveys where it is quite equal. There is a noticeable difference in how females view

Although I do not agree, his reasoning behind it is quite simple. The distance that a train travels is thirty miles and its fare for this distance is ninety cents, almost a days wage (96). He says that he can ultimately arrive quicker on foot, than a person riding this train. He can walk this distance with no cost or debts involved but to ride this train a person must first work to earn this ninety cents and then take the train, which then in turn, will sum to be more time consuming than simply walking this distance. This example is one of many that further reinforce this idea of self reliance and simplicity. The chapter titled Where I lived, and What I lived for talks about his search for a plot of land suitable for his intended purpose, among other things. In my opinion, his ideas wander through metaphors and references that may have been suited for different readers with a different knowledge base. In the second page of this chapter, his whole idea of simplicity is brought up again. He says that, a man is rich in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone (126). In my estimation, he simply means that a man is rich, not in terms of tangible wealth, but in knowledge and self control by what he stand to live without. Thoreau tells us that his home was located by the shore of a small pond, about a mile and a half south of the village of Concord

The Ethics Of Confucian Business Ethics EDMP: An Analysis in Support of Confucian Business Ethics in Harmony of the Business Environment (160)Issue: The one question brought forth by Lagan (2006) is the conflict between harmony in the business environment and the competition of capitalistic markets in the ethical debate on the efficacy of Confucian business ethics. Lagan s (2006) case study effectively defines the overarching harmony of universal mandates defined by Confucius, which argued against the pro capitalist interpretations of Confucian values to adapt to modern business ethics. In my own views, I believe in this traditional form of the three rules of Confucian ethics: human morality, relationships, and harmony. The importance of morality and relationships are vital to preserving good business connections, but more so, it is important to understand how these business relationships create harmony in the community. In this case study, I intend to focus on resolving the conflict between self centered capitalistic tendencies in the business community with Confucian business ethics as a source of harmony in the workplace. Stakeholders: In Confucian business ethics the typical stakeholders are the businessperson, family members, he client, and the community that is served in these business agreements. These asocial groups define the capitalistic system of business exchange, which identifies the businessperson, the client, and the social organizations that bind all parties together as stakeholders in this

Banan describes how learning is applied in the workshops whereas in their ELI classes, learning takes place at a minimum. For instance, even though the students take vocabulary in their classes, they lack the skills to use the words in their writing: I originally didn t know grammatical rules or writing principles, so the workshops helped me in that way even in level one, they didn t used to tell us the organization of the sentence like first subject and then verb.
