Me, Myself, and My Body
The mind is about mental processes and thought, while the body is the physical
aspects of the brain. For years, philosophers have been perplexed by the mind body
problem. The mind is about mental processes and thought, while the body is the
physical aspects of the brain. The mind body problem discusses the mind and body,
along with the relationship between them. Dualists and monists are the two types of
people that take a stand on the issue. While Dualism may spilt mind and body,
monism is the belief that the mind and body are together one. Each of these beliefs
can be broken down into types, justifying monism or dualism. Though each have been
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other side of dualism is interaction. Interaction is the way the mind and body
interact among each other, so the three variations of this are interactionism,
epiphenomenalism, and parallelism. Interactionism is where one believes that the
mind and body influence one another. Next, epiphenomenalism dictates that mental
occurrences are caused by physical ones, but have no influence on the physical. Now
parallelism is different because it shares the view that both mental and physical states
are not casually interacting, yet running in harmony with it. These are all the
different types of dualism that have been theorized to this day.
Many philosophers justify why dualism is the right theory behind the mind body
problem. However, there are others that believe monism is the ideal theory towards
the question. Monism is the view that the mind and body are essentially one. Within
monism there are several different types; idealistic monism, materialistic monism,
neutral monism, reflexive monism, substantial monism, attributive monism, and
absolute monism. To begin, the idealistic monism view is one that shows the mind
being all that exists and that everything else is simply a part of one s mental
depiction. Materialistic monism on the other hand is the complete opposite in that it
holds that only the physical is real and the mind is reduced to the physical. More

Summary Of Woman Hollering Creek By Sandra Cisneros
Rethinking Cookie Cutter Logic: When Past Patriarchal Society Meets Young
Feminist Future Whether in the past or the present, this is a country driven by two
things: entertainment and capital. Women seem to be most attracted to the
entertainment aspect, as demonstrated in Sandra Cisneros s Woman Hollering
Creek through the telenovelas . Men on the other hand are attracted to capital, the
more the better as seen in David Mamet s Glengarry Glen Ross . Every addiction
has a consequence however, and as Cisneros and Mamet both prove, when people
are motivated by the wrong things, then they are doomed to fail. In Cisneros s piece,
Cleofilas is living a very tumultuous life because she had an image in mind when she
came to the United States.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an article by Kristina Groover entitled Reconstructing the Sacred: Latina Feminist
Theology in Sandra Cisneros s Woman Hollering Creek the author alludes to that
notion when she writes, Cleofilas is endangered by her culture s relegation of women
to a passive, subservient role and its tolerance of male privilege and aggression (qtd.
in Groover). This quote represents the idea that even though there are goals that
individuals wish to achieve whether in business or in relationships, that sometimes
the motivations can have negative outcomes such as being in a bad marriage or in
Mamet s play stealing, etc. Men in Mamet s play are ready to do whatever it takes to
succeed that they compromise everything from dignity to relationships. In
Greenbaum s article, she writes, This disregard for maintaining authentic
relationships with male peers is also manifested by the way the salesmen manipulate
those around them through the use of language as a source of seduction
(Greenbaum). This quotation is important to the discussion of language and the
strength that it has in human connections. In Mamet s play, outwardly vulgar
language is used to demonstrate the masculine energy of the business world and how
it is not for the faint of heart. While the language is outwardly harsh, Mamet s use of
it provides the reader with a glimpse into something that sets the tone for the
The Mother Daughter Relationship in Oranges Are not the...
Oranges are not the Only Fruit starts out when Jeanette is seven years old and
living with her adoptive parents in England. Jeanette s mother is very religious, and
her father is not around much. She gets pretty lonely; until she is seven years old
she has been homeschooled. Her mother is so religious that she even taught Jeanette
how to read from the Bible. Because Jeanette s mother is so religious, she almost
brainwashes her daughter to become a missionary. However, once Jeanette begins
school things change. When Jeanette is seven years old, she loses her hearing. Her
mother and the church think it is something religious when it is really just a sickness,
so she is admitted into the hospital. When Jeanette is well again so goes back... Show

While she is in the hospital, her mother does not stay with her. Instead she visits a
few times and gives her oranges, seeming to be disappointed in the fact that it is an
illness. At this point in the story, the reader can begin to feel sorry for young
Jeanette. She is left all alone in the hospital while her mother is busy helping the
church. Jeanette wants to be a missionary, just like in the stories her mom has read to
her. In the beginning of the book, it appears that Jeanette s mother does love her.
However, it appears that she only loves her based on if she fulfills her expectations
or not. The last half of the book shows the most change in Jeanette s relationship
with her mother. Since the start, Jeanette s mother has been more concerned with the
church and religion than spending time with her daughter. And in this half of the
book, it is apparent that she loves the church more than her daughter. When
Jeanette finally comes out, and no longer hides the fact that she is a lesbian. Her
mother kicks her out, and basically disowns her. That shows the reader that her
mother does not love her daughter no matter what. She only loved her when she
was doing what she wanted. She wanted Jeanette to be a miniature her, and when
she disappointed her, she no longer seemed to love her. However, at the very end of
the novel, Jeanette goes back home to see her mother. She is welcomed into her
home even though she is still very religious, but they do
The Influence Of Multitasking On Different Media Devices...
We can watch TV and look through social media news feeds on laptops while
reading texts on smartphones. With all the multitasking it could be shrinking the
structure of our brains. According to new research from the University of Sussex,
people who use cell phones or other devices tend to have a less gray matter density
in parts of the brainversus teens who use one or more devices at a time. Published
in the journal PLOS One, the research is the first to reveal links between
multitasking on different media devices and brain structure (Keating). Media
multitasking is becoming more prevalent in our lives today and there is increasing
concern about its impacts on our cognition and social emotional well being, says
Sussex neuroscientist Kep Kee Loh (Keating) . The researchers asked 75 healthy
men and women how often they divided their attention between different social
media devices, which included sending a text or listing to music while doing other
stuff. The participants were given brain scans, which showed that, compared with
people who used one device at a time, this group had a less dense gray matter in the
cortex which is the part of the brain that is involved in processing emotion (Keating).
Researches aren t sure whether people with less gray brain structures are more likely
to be good at multitasking or if the multitasking causes the gray structures to shrink.
Other studies found that learning how to juggle and learning map routes increased
the gray area in

Throughout the short autobiography Owens mentions a few times how he
believes he is not a real Indian. Owens says on page 265, Born in prison because
my father ran away from home when he was fifteen and lied to join the army

his mother was brought. Owens believes he is not a real Indian because he was not

of what being Indian meant because of the different times he grew up in. Owens
says on page 269, Listening to my mother s stories about Oklahoma, about brutally
hard lives and dreams that cut across the fabric of every experience, I thought that

Ibsen s Hedda Gabler Essay
Ibsen s Hedda Gabler portrays the societal roles of gender and sex through Hedda
as a character trying to break the status quo of gender relations within the Victorian
era. The social conditions and principles that Ibsen presents in Hedda Gabler are of
crucial importance as they constitute the molding and tempering forces which dictate
the behavior of all the play s characters with each character part of a tightly woven
social fabric (Kildahl). Hedda is an example of perverted femininity in a depraved
society intent on sacrificing to its own self interest and the freedom and individual
expression of its members. It portrays Nineteenth Century unequal relationship
problems between the sexes, with men being the independent factor and... Show more

With no focus on Hedda s mother we can imagine that the general did little to
prepare his daughter for wifehood or motherhood. Hedda inherited his pride,
coldness, and an authoritative attitude toward others of a lower rank. She lacks
compassion for weak and submissive characters like Thea and Aunt Julia but has
admiration for power and freedom, qualities she finds in Brack and Lövborg.
Even after marrying Tesman, she keeps her father s portrait and guns, which
signifies her desire for masculine control as well as her personal form of mourning
of the power she has lost by marrying Tesman. This perverse behavior can be
attributed greatly to the era in which Hedda lives, because her choices are highly
influenced by the male dominated society. Hedda tears down everyone throughout
the play, with Lövborg and Brack as the only exception. After being born to a high
standing family, her expectations of power are high, but due to her biologic form as
a woman she is trapped and unable to take control, because Hedda has been
imprisoned since girlhood by the bars of Victorian propriety, her emotional life has
grown turbulent and explosive (Embler). However, after succumbing to marriage
with Tesman, whom she only marries for money and respect, she loses her place in
society as she, as a mere woman, cannot retain it. This slowly unwinds Hedda and
eventually leads her on to her fatal path. By
Analysis Of Unfriended By Rachel Vail
Over these past few weeks, I have been reading the book, Unfriended by Rachel
Vail. In the novel, the main character Truly gets put into a situation just like every
other 8th grade teenage girl may deal with. She gets invited to the popular table.
She was already friends with one of the girls, Natasha. However, once Natasha
dumped Truly, the only one that was there for her was Hazel. Hazel gets a little
odd when it comes to popularity, so when Natasha asked Truly to sit with them,
Hazel got very defensive. Truly had to make a decision between the populars and
the losers who turn out to be her ex best friends. However, does Truly know what it
takes to be one of the populars? Are they really trying to be her friend, or is Natasha
just messing with Truly to humiliate her? Truly starts to find out the real story on
why she was invited with the populars, and she quickly realizes she doesn t need to
pretend to be someone she is not. In Unfriended, the author starts to present the theme
to the reader, when the main characteris in a tough situation. That whole oh I care so
much stuff. Just to make everyone like her. She is just trying to fit in with the girls
when its not working because she is one of us. Who does she think she is? (Vail 43).
The theme of the novelis to not follow the crowd, because it may lead you into the
wrong direction. Truly followed the populars and dropped her friends who saved her
in the 6th grade. This teaches middle school girls to have more
Similarities And Differences Between King Henry And

4.Comparing Caesar to King Henry V
4.1 Aristocratic family backgrounds
King Henry V and Caesar share common historical grounds. As the third king in the
Lancaster family line, King Henry was descendent of the old, aristocratic Angevin
dynasty which reigned in England from 1154 to 1485, beginning with King Henry II
of Plantagenet. The family dynasty began in the region of Anjou and the dynasty s
expansion into Europe was considered its golden age (Vauchez, A et al. 2000:65).
Similarly, Caesar too came from an old, aristocratic family that had patrician roots. In
his infamous speech made at his Aunt Julia s funeral, Caesar illustrated how the Julia
gens claimed ancestry from Aeneas, son of Aphrodite saying ...while the
Julians...descend from the goddess Venus herself... Caesars adds that his family
...therefore hold the sanctity of kings who rule among men and of gods whole rule
over kings... (Freeman 2008:52). By both having an aristocratic family background,
there exists a commonality between the two prominent historical figures.

conquests of Gaul, Spain, Africa and parts of Asia, Henry V expanded the British
empire into France. Henry s invasion of France began with the attack on the French

in the Treaty of Troyes being signed on the 21st of May 1420, the effect being that
Henry became the heir to the French throne, further solidified to solidified with his
marriage to Catherine of Valois, amalgamating the French and British empires (

In his article Daily Life in Black Africa: Elements for a Critique, author Paulin
Houtondji offers his perceptions of several aspects of life in Africa. His statements
are explicit, observant, harsh, and backed up with examples and anecdotes. Many
African pop musicians provide similarly critical assessments of various aspects of
African life, but they choose to do so in a much subtler way. Houtondji s criticism of
Africa for its serious failure is similar to that of artists like musician E.T. Mensah,
who uses upbeat music to lessen the sting of his subversive lyrics. In fact, so
deceivingly happy is the sound of the music that missing the entire message of the

These artists do not bother with the pleasantries of creating a happy sounding
piece of music. Instead, they put their message out in the open, for everyone to
hear, criticize, and otherwise respond to. Though his article is undoubtedly a harsh
criticism of daily life in Africa, the most important issues of all are almost masked
by the complaints about the time wasting phone calls to the cable company, waiting
in long lines to pay for water and electricity, and the complex requirements to obtain
a driver s license. Annoying as these issues may be, Houtondji merely uses them as
a pretext to hint at the deeper, darker problems facing Africa. This approach is
actually more along the lines of E.T. Mensah. Houtondji and Mensah are
revolutionaries in a different sense of the word than Fela Kuti. Rather than providing
a message with the sole purpose of inciting the audience, they seek to inform, and to
analyze the problems, with hopes of finding a solution.
In his article, Houtondji offers a general and overarching criticism of aspects of life
in modern Africa. Instead of focusing on the more commonly addressed important
issues, such as violence, hunger, and disease, he draws attention to problems that
seem petty. Though they appear to be secondary to the bigger issues, they are
actually symptoms of the much deeper problems, problems that stymie the transition
of Africa, as a whole, into modernity. One of Houtondji s examples provides a

Serious Crimes in the Uniform Crime Report
The Uniform Crime Report (UCR) is consisted of two parts, part one and part two.
Part one crimes are the eight most serious offenses, which is murder, rape, assault,
robbery, burglary, arson, larceny, and motor vehicle theft. Part two crimes are all
other crimes except the ones in part one. They also include drug offenses, sex
crimes, and vandalism. The UCR is a large database that stores all the information
of the crimes that are reported and arrests made each year in the USA. The method
used to get the information to the FBI is complex. Each month a law enforcement
agencies report the count of part one crimes. The advantage of UCR is that people
can see what kinds of crimes happen in a specific area. The disadvantage of UCR is
that many of the serious crimes are not reported because the victims think that the
crimeis unimportant, they don t trust the police, or involved in something illegal
during the time of the crime.
The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) is also consisted of two
parts but includes offenses such as runaways, vagrancy, embezzlement, drug offenses
and bribery. The NIBRS gives you a brief account of each incident and arrests; it
includes the incident, victim, and the offender s information. The advantage of
NIBRS is that it has a broader development on crimes and is more accurate then the
UCR. The disadvantage is that only twenty states have this crime report system that s
less then half of the US.

For this reason, there is the need for some mechanism to capture these fleeting ideas

Guilt In Macbeth

downfall of Macbeth, a former King of Scotland. The story narrates the evolution of
guilt that Macbeth places on himself and is haunted with due to the serial murders
that his hand commands of his close and trusted. His mind is corrupted by the
events and the people around him, forcing him into a state of madness to pursue his
goals. All of the deaths are on his hands, and they are forever stained with blood.

Out of all sports, football seems to be the one that builds the most vigorous bonds
between its teammates. The physical demands during a game and practice force
each player to rely on one another on the field. Think about the relationship
between each offensive lineman. They all have to visually examine each others
backs while bulwarking their own. Even more vigorous than that is the
relationship between a quarterback and his offensive teammates. As mentioned
afore, the offensive line is there to forfend the quarterback. The quarterback needs
to trust them to stop any defensive player from getting to him, in order for him to
do his job. Withal, the quarterback must have faith in not only his o line, but his
wide receivers and his running backs as well. He has to trust them that they will be
able to make plays if he gets them the ball. Discipline is shown in Remember the
Titans. The players of the team have to go through rigorous discipline. They are
required to wear uniforms and act as opportune as they can otherwise they are
penalized for disobedience. They are required to revere their elders. The players of
the team have to reply with Sir after everything they verbalize. The team is expected

Why am I wearing this hideous outfit, mother, why am I wearing this hideous

dramatic, it s not a bad outfit. Being a little dramatic, dramatic?! I squawked. And
this is not a bad outfit, a bad outfit?! Was she insane, blind? This was a terrible
outfit, repugnant! Yes, sweetie, you can repeat all you want, but that still doesn t
make it any less true? Mother, look at me, I am wearing Mike s gray sweats that
are too baggy Well at least they are long enough to fit your new 5 9 height, and we
were lucky that the drawstring is tight enough to fit your slender hips. I am
wearing a twelve year old boys blue zip up sweater You might get cold in the
morning and honestly you got to admit Ben s tight sweater does fit you pretty
snuggly and it s long enough too. And I m wearing one of my old dark gray shirts
that somehow doesn t fit my new body right, the neck is all weird and the the shirt
is slightly short. It covers your stomach, and isn t that the fashion the kids are
wearing nowadays? No, mother. And someone who looks like me, now, should be
wearing something cute like a summer dress or something trendy, something
fashionable like a model. Now Sarah, remember what I told you, this doesn t define
you, and just because you look different doesn t mean you need to be vain and go
wasting all your money buying all these silly clothes. I gave an internal groan; it was

Cheeseburger History
Ancient History The cheeseburger has quite a long legacy. The burger can be
traced back thousands of years to ancient Egyptian times. The Egyptians would
ground their meat and shape them in the form of patties. However, as time
progressed, the burger would ultimately be taken to the next level with the addition
of cheese. It said that Louis Ballast was the first to add cheese to the burger. He
operated the Humpty Dumpty Barrel Drive In in Denver, CO and was constantly
searching for creative ways to improve the burger. One day he decided to add some
heated cheese to the burger, and voila, history was made! If you found this little
tidbit amusing, continue to read on for some interesting facts about the cheeseburger.
Many Claim To Have Invented The Cheeseburger: Trying to figure how who is the
true inventor of the cheeseburger can be, shall we say, complicated. Although there
are many sites that list Louise as the cheeseburgers, there are others who have
claimed that they are the true inventors. In addition to Louis, Charles Kaelin of
Louisville, KY and Lionel C. Sternberger from Pasadena, CA have been on record, as
saying that they originated the cheeseburger. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Children of the Black Skirt
Australian Gothic Drama is an exhilarating yet disturbing style of theatre which
especially explores Australians uniquely spectre of history and identity through
utilising the purposes of empowerment, education and challenging its audience. One
production which clearly demonstrates many conventions of Australian Gothic
Theatre is Real TV s production Children of the Black Skirt written by Angela
Betzien. This production tells the tale of three lost children that discover an

Near the ending of the play Harrold Horrocks, the orphanage s inspector, brutally
educates the audiences of Australians history the Stolen Generation, focusing on the
treatment of and discrimination against the Aboriginal children within the
orphanage. During his visit, Harrold inspects the children where he comments on
unchangeable characteristic displayed by the Aboriginal children. One example is
when he comments of the size of one Aboriginal child where he ensures Miss Emily
Greenant, also known as The Black Skirt, will give him less food as he believes that
the child will one day be a warrior and cause a rebellion cleverly symbolising the
intimidation Australians felt while colonising the Aboriginals. This view is further
enforced through the character s skilful yet subtle use of movement and voice as
Harrold s voice becomes quite high pitched and distressed and hunches over as if to
protect himself from any surprise attacks. Another example of this hidden intimation
is where Harrold sees a child with an overly big head; he instantly demands that the
child is put to work in the yard instead of being taught this is symbolising Australians
want to colonise the Aboriginal people without any objectives therefore allowing
audiences be educated on Australians cultural history Stolen Generation. It is through
these symbolic and skilful use of dramatic languages that the audiences are highly

Rhetorical Strategies In Ulysses S. Grant s Moral Address
Ulysses S. Grant s inaugural address the main idea is to support the people and
make the country great for them. He accomplishes this by using rhetorical
strategies. In his speech the devices he used was tone, imagery and lastly Key
Words. With him using these devices he is able to show how important the people
are in his presidency. He splits his speech into three sections, one about his
dedication to the people and the country. Secondly about the issues about the national
debt/economy and the west is a great place to start fixing it. Lastly about the smaller
issues that have to be taken care of like their future children, foreign policy and
refining the 15th amendment. He is dedicated to the people.
One of the most important rhetorical strategy that Grant uses in his inaugural
address is tone. He uses tone two out of three times first for his support for the
people and then in smaller issues near the end of his speech. The first time he
shows his enthusiasm in tone is when he says I bring to it a conscious desire and
determination to fill it to the best of my ability to the satisfaction of the people
(Grant). This line really shows and sounds for his determination and enthusiasm in
his speech to the people. This really helps him out later in the office because he gave
his trust to the people and now the people can give him their trust. The other place,
he uses tone is in the last section where he is talking about other issues ... Show more

Critique of the Movie Tinker Tailor Solider Spy
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy: Critique of a Movie Review Introduction Oscar Season,
so dubbed by Hollywood executives and the media covering their world, is quickly
approaching. Within the illustrious group of nominees are those featured in the
beautifully made cerebral film, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The film, which is a
jewel of cinematic effort, is very much the opposite of today s often found shallow
comedies or horror films. This film, in its grasp, includes so much of that which
ought to be found in the art that is cinema. For this reason, and because of the
momentum the film has garnered following the leading actor s nomination for an
Academy Award, many have taken to commenting on Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
One such article is presented below and will be both summarized and discussed in
order to see just how the critic world sees this film, and for what reason. Article
Summary The article mentioned above is entitled Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is No
Easy Watch and is written by Chris Krapek for the Huffington Post. Krapek s main
point in this particular critique of the film is that it is quite a difficult movie to watch
and understand. Krapek starts by offering his opinions on the film, including
imagining many individuals in his personal life scoffing at how boring the movie
actually is. Then, Krapek offers a summary of the film. Within this part, which takes
up most of the article, the author expands upon the main points of the film. These

The Influences Of Rome On The Byzantine Empire Essay
Gabrielle Rechler
Final Art History Paper The Influences of Rome on the Byzantine Empire
The legal, cultural, and structural developments during the Roman Empire (753 BCE
476 CE) have had an effect on Western civilization. Influenced by the ideals of the
ancient Greeks, the empire lived through many worldwide transformations that
changed the way in which emperors governed and ruled the Roman people, and these
adaptations can be seen in the style of artwork in each Roman reign. One of the most
notable changes in art style is in the Late Empire Period, during the third and fourth
centuries, where the change in government, from imperial rule to the tetrarchy, led
artists to focus on the message of the piece rather than the individual represented, and
become more abstract and geometric rather than classical and
individualistic.[footnoteRef:1] Another notable period of change was under
Constantine I, who overthrew the tetrarchy, and was the first Roman emperor to
embrace Christianity. [1: Marilyn Stokstad and Michael W. Cothren, Art History. 4th
ed., Vol 1 (London: Laurence King Publishing, 2011), 207.]
During his reign, art combined the geometric style from the tetrarchy with a touch of
the previous verism, demonstrating Constantine?s independent power. However, after
his rule, the Roman Empire once again divided into two rulers: one for the eastern
parts, and one for the western parts. In the east, the Byzantine Empire developed
under the Theodosian Dynasty

Challenges And Opportunities For Product Managers
Never in history has there been more challenges and opportunities for product
managers bringing new and innovative products to the marketplace. However,
competitive pressures in the form of economic and global shifts have made it more
difficult for product managers to respond to increased customer demands and
infidelity. Many product managers are asking; Are we building the right products
with the right features? Which features or technologies should I invest in or which
features should we cease? What should I end of life, and how can I better serve my
end user customers? All of these questions, while not new, are more complicated due

Above and beyond technology expertise, product managers must maximize their
limited budgets and resources from the start to ensure they have the tools to be
successful. Many organizations are turning to design manufacturers like Jabil to
enable their business to decrease production costs, increase capacity, and achieve
economies of scale they cannot attain themselves. Thereby reducing overall risk and
to ensure they can meet agreed upon NPI (new production introduction) schedules
and quality standards. Product managers must do more with less, be more informed
about the markets and technology they serve, and most importantly become
resourceful with both internal and external resources they engage to bring their
products to market. There are many reasons to work with a design manufacturer, and
each are definitely not created equally. Below are the top reasons product managers
should consider working with a to design manufacturer that has the expertise, scale,
and history to ensure success: 1.End to end insight into the supply chain One of the
key differentiators top design manufacturers leverage is their ability to have visibility
and insight into all aspects of the supply chain, especially when manufacturing goes
global. This visibility helps companies to understand their products demand,
inventories, service parts management, and the products overall viability. Finally,

An Analysis Of Frank Lloyd Wright On Architecture, And...
In life, there are things that happen to us; all of us or some of us that are beyond
comprehension and that leave a lasting impact into our lives. Some of the things are
a glimpse of what the future could imply to us and form a platform from which
important things will be built. In the last few centuries, the dancing industry in the
world had not been considered as an important art, and therefore, dancing was
basically done informally for entertaining oneself or for layman s reasons. That was
until a girl was born at the end of the of the 18th century, a girl who would grow into
prominence as far as dancing was concerned; revolutionizing the danceworld and
setting new platforms through which modern dancewould be established. Her
influence on the dance and choreography would last for over seven decades, and her
influence has been reminiscent to that of Picasso on the modern visual arts, Frank
Lloyd Wright on architecture, and Stravinsky on music. The name of this girl who
went from heights to heights and established the modern dancing and choreography
in the world was Martha Graham.
Martha Graham was an American dancer and choreographer, born in the city of
Allegheny, which would later become part of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However,
when Martha turned fourteen years old, her family moved to Santa Barbara,
California. Her father was an alienist, a practitioner of an early form of psychiatry, or

Human Nature Short Story
Throughout history, there have been millions of philosophers. However, none of
them have uncovered the truth about human nature. The issue of morality has never
been truly resolved. There is an endless amount of arguments about humans being
internally good, but there are just as many for the alternate idea that humansare evil.
The short stories that best exemplify humannature are Child By Tiger , Am I Blue? ,
and Once Upon a Time . In all these short stories, there is a climax involving the
protagonist and then the author tells us how the supporting characters react. We see
how the town reacts to Dick, how the world reacts to Melvin s second wish, and we
see how the gardener reacts to the boy getting caught in the security system. Wolfe,
Gordimer, and Coville show us that human nature isn t the way we act, but it is the
way we react; thus we aren t inherently good nor evil, but a blend of the two.
Wolfe shows us the evil side of human nature that comes from within. In civilized
societies, people are not allowed to harm others. Therefore, the mob was using
Dick s actions as an excuse to let out their inner evil. These people had a burning
hate for African Americans, so they knew that they could do whatever they wanted
to do to Dick without repercussions. The town s inner savagery first comes out: We
ve waited long enough! We re going to get that ni**er! (Wolfe 101). The N word is
used by the townspeople to show their hatred and bitterness told the entire

Local Community
There is no doubt that KPC has CSR toward the community and therefore must

As the Government wants the health and well being of the society and protect them
from harm, it would like KPC to invest in the technology and bring down the number

Rome Social Factors
Rome, one of the greatest empires in the world is the most modern and advanced

It expanded its borders with the Roman Legion s helping. Romereached its climax
and the largest size it has ever been before. However, as for all empires, they must
come to an end. Although many interrelated factors contributed to the fall of Rome,
the most important were economic, military, and social factors.

A social factor is that lots of people converted to Christianity. This caused the Roman
government to spend their money that would have gone to other sources into building
churches. Another factor is slavery. Slaves took over the jobs of citizens and
laborers. Which led to them being unemployed. Unemployment made them to have
an insufficient amount of money to support themselves. Poverty introduced them into
hunger and to people stole essential items in order to survive. An addition factor is
that Rome s cities were unsafe. They lived in insulae that lacked running water,
sanitation, or heating. Insulae were cramped and very prone to fires and collapsing.
In addition to the social and economic factors that led to the fall of Rome, there are
military factors. One of the military factors is the loss of loyalty from the Roman
citizens. Citizens did not have faith in the Roman army anymore and that caused
them to not participate in the Roman army. Citizens not participating in the Roman
army consequently caused the government to hire foreign mercenaries. Another
military factor is that the borders of Rome were being weakened. Barbaric invasions
encroached through the walls of Rome and slowly enfeebled the

Describe Sources of Internal and External Finance for a...
All businesses need money to function sufficiently. Where this money comes from
is defined as sources of finance. There are two different types of sources of
finance: internal (capital from inside the business) and external (capital from
outside the business). New businesses starting up need money to spend in long term
assets such as premises and equipment. They also need cash to pay for materials,
pay wages, and to pay the day today bills such as water and electricity. In
experienced entrepreneurs often underestimate the capital needed for the everyday
running of the business; this is the reason many businesses fail due to cash flow

and finally it has no interest charges. On the other hand, investing into the business
may be limited which will constrain the rate at which the business expands, as mine
and my families resources are limited and wouldn t meet start up costs. Investing in
external sources of finance can include using bank overdrafts, loans and venture
capitalists, all of which my business would use. Bank overdrafts are good because
my firm would only need to borrow as much as it requires when it needs it most.
But the disadvantage can include it being very expensive and banks can insist
being repaid within 24 hours which can be a problem. Therefore this is mainly
going to be used for occasional cash flow problems, for example over tight times
e.g. January and February. I would also use loans, as these can be secured quickly
and used in a large number of ways. However borrowing too much money can lead
to decreased cash flow and payments can even overtake income in some cases.
Venture capitals would also be a very good way to source finance externally, this is

they may require a substantial part of the ownership of the company, which could be

Fahrenheit 451 Truth Quotes
The fear of the truth and admitting the truth is boldly seen in Fahrenheit 451, and
then when it is revealed to the person, it results in brokenness and sorrow. Beatty is a
prime example of avoiding the truth. Throughout the book, he hints at knowing the
truth, but covers it up by burning books and peoples opinions, and then building
technology full of junk. Because of this, Beatty is left broken and sad, and eventually,
he pays for it. When Montag was burning his house along with the books, he pointed
the flame thrower at Beatty and stood there. He turned it on and flames ate Beatty up,
then he thought to himself afterwards that Beatty wanted to die. In the middle of
crying Montag knew it for the truth. Beatty wanted to die. He had just stood there, not
really trying to save himself, just stood there, joking, needling, thought Montag, and
the thought was enough to stifle his sobbing and let him pause for air (116).... Show

putting it out. Although, the truth always comes back, and the charcoal ignites back
up, and burns Beatty in the
Chemical Reactions Of The Chemical Reaction
In all living things, there are chemical reactions that happen within these living
organisms to help them either break up energy or use the molecules for other bodily
functions. One of the main chemical reactions are caused by something called
Enzymes. Enzymes are basically catalyst that are organic which are made up of
hundreds of amino acids and are pertained as fairly large (Biology Department, n.d,
p.34). Similar to other catalyst, enzymes have the capability of fulfilling their
function without allowing themselves to be consumed as well as disfigured.
Enzymes can also carry on their function without changing the chemical equilibrium
between reactants and products (Cooper GM, 2000). Enzymes main function is to
help quicken the chemical reactionrate. These enzymes work in a way where there
is a little area that is comparable to a depression. This depression area is known as
the active site which is where the enzymes bond to. The binding of a substrate to the
active site is a very specific interaction (Cooper GM, 2000). On top of the
acceleration of chemical reactions, the enzymehas two other parts as well. The
second function of enzymes is that they have specific reactants that they work with
and these are called the substrates. These substrates help produce products for living
organisms. Lastly, enzymes work in a way where if one was missing, the end
product could be catastrophic. Enzymes are regulated from a state of low activity to
a state of high activity and
Poor Compliance Essay
The issue and impact of poor compliance grow with the ageing of the world
population. Compliance to long term therapy for chronic illnesses in developed
countries averages 50%. In developing countries, the rates are even lower . Poor
compliance to long term therapies severely compromises the effectiveness of
treatment, making this a critical issue in population healthboth from the perspective of
quality of life and of health economics. Studies consistently find significant cost
savings and increases in the effectiveness of health interventions that are attributable
to low cost interventions for improving compliance. Compliance is an important
modifier of health system effectiveness.
The WHO definition of compliance is the extent to which the patient follows medical
instructions . However, the term medical is felt to be insufficient in describing the

Clinicians now learn how to ask about medication compliance (using nonjudgmental
questions followed by open ended questions, e.g. Many people find it hard to take all
their medications every day .... How often do you miss doses of your medications? ).
Also pharmacists have several tools at their disposal to identify noncompliance
problems early and implement corrective action. The traditional pharmacistsВґ brown
bag review with the elders on all their medicines (prescription and other medicines,
e.g. over the counter medications) is an effective way to start a dialogue with the
patient using show and tell method (pharmacists remove items from the bag, shaking
tablets or capsules into the cap and say, Tell me what is this medicinefor and how you
take it ) . Using pharmacy records the patient s profile and refill records and pill
counts in the bottles, pharmacists can develop a fairly accurate idea of the patient s
compliance pattern
Morality in Eating Meat
When asked the question, Is it right to eat beef? many Americans and people across
the world expect the Hindus because of religious reasons say yea. For some people
eating beef is not morally right, either because they believe the animal has the right to
live just as much as we (humans) do or simply because they feel they can obtain
nutrients and nourishment an alternate way. For cattleman, chicken farm producers,
slaughterhouses, and etc. whose livelihood depends on the producing livestock for
the American people are advocates for the consumption of meat. Some classify these
people as animal killers because they grow their livestock from start to finishing
weight. But for the non ranches it s hard to understand that these people like their
livestock, but it s more of an admiration more of what they can produce to help the
being of others in a utilitarianism way. When I mention the people who see their
deeds as away utilitarianism, I m saying these people see it as an ethical principle
according to which an action is right if it tends to get the most out of happiness, not
only that of the reason but also of each person and thing associated with it.
Producers are believed to have a honorable and principled responsibility to raise and
nurture their animals in a respectful humane way. People who see feasting on
animals may have had a bad experience with the way the meat was prepared for
them. For example, they may have had their meat prepared raw or uncooked. The

Psychoanalytic Criticism Of Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe work can be related to allot of literature criticisms, but it is most
familiarized with psychoanalytic criticism and New Historicism because the
stories he wrote had allot to do with the mind and how people would behave also
he wrote stories based off old history and beliefs. Psychoanalytic criticism deals
with the mind of the characters. Poe s work relates most to psychoanalytic
criticism because he wrote allot of short stories that dealt with the mind of killers
and how certain situations would affect a person s behavior and the influence it
had on them which lead to horrible murders and disasters. His work can also relate
to New Historicism as he implanted historical events that caused death amongst
individuals and made stories based off it. Poe often wrote things that no one else
had the courage to do because back then they would be considered insane and
deviant. Stories like the black cat , The tell tale heart , The masque of the red
death , and Morella all deal with horror, murder, and sudden death. The short story,
The black cat gives the audience a story line visual of the mind of an alcoholic and
the way his behavior changes over time, in different scenarios the character starts
to turn abusive to the animals that he once loved. The man then starts to isolate
himself from the black cat which was his favorite animal until one day he snaps
and kills the black cat by hanging it to a tree with a rope. Days later a cat comes
back around him that shows almost the same identity of the black cat, but the only
difference is the white patch which is the bottom part of the cat body. the man then
starts to grow jealous as his wife shows attention to the new cat which then leads
him to murder his wife and stuffing her dead body in a wall, he later confesses to
the crime and spends life in prison. This story is very dark and gives a clear
identification of the mind of a troubled individual who then takes out his anger by
being abusive to the animals in his environment and later his wife. Different aspects
in Poe s stories look deep into the mind of a person and the reasons that leads to
murder and death. Furthermore, Poe used words and had a story line that would
automatically give an
Essay on Michael Moore s †Bowling for Columbine’
Michael Moore was born on April 23rd 1954. He s An American film maker, author
and a liberal political commentator. He has directed and produced four of the eight
highest grossing documentaries of all time. In 2005 Time Magazine named Moore
one of the world s Hundred most influential people . The documentary Bowling for
Columbine explores the possible causes for the Columbine High School massacre. It
has won the Best Documentary feature at both the Academy and Independent Spirit
Awards, together with the CГ©sar award for best foreign films .
In this sequence we see American fighter jets dropping bombs on residential areas of
a village in Kosovo. Then the American President, Bill Clinton, says they are trying
not to hurt innocent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moore uses a large variety of camera shots and angles to create different effects.
The camera shots included in the sequence range from bird s eye view to close up
shots. At the beginning of the sequence (where the U.S were bombing parts of
Kosovo) Moore uses long shots and bird s eye view to show the mass amount of
devastation caused by U.S bombs. There s also a close up shot of dead bodies on
the ground to illustrate the gravity of the situation. The director focuses on a close
shot of the High School plaque, ironically under the Columbine High School it says
home of the rebels . He uses this shot because Dylan and Eric were seen to be rebels.
Moore switches between the colour camera and the black and white CCTV footage
very effectively. The use of CCTV makes the sequence feel more personal and
distinctive. Bright, intense illumination is used to highlight the shooters on the
CCTV footage. The footage also corresponds with the emergency calls, because
when the teachers and witnesses telephoned the emergency services they were
talking as if in a haste and we can see why on the CCTV footage.
When we see the subjective point of view shot of someone walking through the
school it makes the sequence feel more personal, because we see everything the
students would have seen walking through the school. There s a high angle shot of
the SWAT team outside the school, high angle shots are usually used to show that

  • 3. Mind And Body Patrick Katz PHI 1103 Michael Bruno Word Count 1218 5 May 2016 Me, Myself, and My Body The mind is about mental processes and thought, while the body is the physical aspects of the brain. For years, philosophers have been perplexed by the mind body problem. The mind is about mental processes and thought, while the body is the physical aspects of the brain. The mind body problem discusses the mind and body, along with the relationship between them. Dualists and monists are the two types of people that take a stand on the issue. While Dualism may spilt mind and body, monism is the belief that the mind and body are together one. Each of these beliefs can be broken down into types, justifying monism or dualism. Though each have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other side of dualism is interaction. Interaction is the way the mind and body interact among each other, so the three variations of this are interactionism, epiphenomenalism, and parallelism. Interactionism is where one believes that the mind and body influence one another. Next, epiphenomenalism dictates that mental occurrences are caused by physical ones, but have no influence on the physical. Now parallelism is different because it shares the view that both mental and physical states are not casually interacting, yet running in harmony with it. These are all the different types of dualism that have been theorized to this day. Many philosophers justify why dualism is the right theory behind the mind body problem. However, there are others that believe monism is the ideal theory towards the question. Monism is the view that the mind and body are essentially one. Within monism there are several different types; idealistic monism, materialistic monism, neutral monism, reflexive monism, substantial monism, attributive monism, and absolute monism. To begin, the idealistic monism view is one that shows the mind being all that exists and that everything else is simply a part of one s mental depiction. Materialistic monism on the other hand is the complete opposite in that it holds that only the physical is real and the mind is reduced to the physical. More specific
  • 4. Summary Of Woman Hollering Creek By Sandra Cisneros Rethinking Cookie Cutter Logic: When Past Patriarchal Society Meets Young Feminist Future Whether in the past or the present, this is a country driven by two things: entertainment and capital. Women seem to be most attracted to the entertainment aspect, as demonstrated in Sandra Cisneros s Woman Hollering Creek through the telenovelas . Men on the other hand are attracted to capital, the more the better as seen in David Mamet s Glengarry Glen Ross . Every addiction has a consequence however, and as Cisneros and Mamet both prove, when people are motivated by the wrong things, then they are doomed to fail. In Cisneros s piece, Cleofilas is living a very tumultuous life because she had an image in mind when she came to the United States.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an article by Kristina Groover entitled Reconstructing the Sacred: Latina Feminist Theology in Sandra Cisneros s Woman Hollering Creek the author alludes to that notion when she writes, Cleofilas is endangered by her culture s relegation of women to a passive, subservient role and its tolerance of male privilege and aggression (qtd. in Groover). This quote represents the idea that even though there are goals that individuals wish to achieve whether in business or in relationships, that sometimes the motivations can have negative outcomes such as being in a bad marriage or in Mamet s play stealing, etc. Men in Mamet s play are ready to do whatever it takes to succeed that they compromise everything from dignity to relationships. In Greenbaum s article, she writes, This disregard for maintaining authentic relationships with male peers is also manifested by the way the salesmen manipulate those around them through the use of language as a source of seduction (Greenbaum). This quotation is important to the discussion of language and the strength that it has in human connections. In Mamet s play, outwardly vulgar language is used to demonstrate the masculine energy of the business world and how it is not for the faint of heart. While the language is outwardly harsh, Mamet s use of it provides the reader with a glimpse into something that sets the tone for the

Jeanette s mother is very religious, and her father is not around much. She gets pretty lonely; until she is seven years old she has been homeschooled. Her mother is so religious that she even taught Jeanette how to read from the Bible. Because Jeanette s mother is so religious, she almost brainwashes her daughter to become a missionary. However, once Jeanette begins school things change. When Jeanette is seven years old, she loses her hearing. Her mother and the church think it is something religious when it is really just a sickness, so she is admitted into the hospital. When Jeanette is well again so goes back... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While she is in the hospital, her mother does not stay with her. Instead she visits a few times and gives her oranges, seeming to be disappointed in the fact that it is an illness. At this point in the story, the reader can begin to feel sorry for young Jeanette. She is left all alone in the hospital while her mother is busy helping the church. Jeanette wants to be a missionary, just like in the stories her mom has read to her. In the beginning of the book, it appears that Jeanette s mother does love her. However, it appears that she only loves her based on if she fulfills her expectations or not. The last half of the book shows the most change in Jeanette s relationship with her mother. Since the start, Jeanette s mother has been more concerned with the church and religion than spending time with her daughter. And in this half of the book, it is apparent that she loves the church more than her daughter. When Jeanette finally comes out, and no longer hides the fact that she is a lesbian. Her mother kicks her out, and basically disowns her. That shows the reader that her mother does not love her daughter no matter what. She only loved her when she was doing what she wanted. She wanted Jeanette to be a miniature her, and when she disappointed her, she no longer seemed to love her. However, at the very end of the novel, Jeanette goes back home to see her mother. She is welcomed into her home even though she is still very religious, but they do
  • 6. The Influence Of Multitasking On Different Media Devices... We can watch TV and look through social media news feeds on laptops while reading texts on smartphones. With all the multitasking it could be shrinking the structure of our brains. According to new research from the University of Sussex, people who use cell phones or other devices tend to have a less gray matter density in parts of the brainversus teens who use one or more devices at a time. Published in the journal PLOS One, the research is the first to reveal links between multitasking on different media devices and brain structure (Keating). Media multitasking is becoming more prevalent in our lives today and there is increasing concern about its impacts on our cognition and social emotional well being, says Sussex neuroscientist Kep Kee Loh (Keating) . The researchers asked 75 healthy men and women how often they divided their attention between different social media devices, which included sending a text or listing to music while doing other stuff. The participants were given brain scans, which showed that, compared with people who used one device at a time, this group had a less dense gray matter in the cortex which is the part of the brain that is involved in processing emotion (Keating). Researches aren t sure whether people with less gray brain structures are more likely to be good at multitasking or if the multitasking causes the gray structures to shrink. Other studies found that learning how to juggle and learning map routes increased the gray area in

  • 9. Ibsen s Hedda Gabler Essay Ibsen s Hedda Gabler portrays the societal roles of gender and sex through Hedda as a character trying to break the status quo of gender relations within the Victorian era. The social conditions and principles that Ibsen presents in Hedda Gabler are of crucial importance as they constitute the molding and tempering forces which dictate the behavior of all the play s characters with each character part of a tightly woven social fabric (Kildahl). With no focus on Hedda s mother we can imagine that the general did little to prepare his daughter for wifehood or motherhood. Hedda inherited his pride, coldness, and an authoritative attitude toward others of a lower rank. She lacks compassion for weak and submissive characters like Thea and Aunt Julia but has admiration for power and freedom, qualities she finds in Brack and LГ¶vborg. Even after marrying Tesman, she keeps her father s portrait and guns, which signifies her desire for masculine control as well as her personal form of mourning of the power she has lost by marrying Tesman. This perverse behavior can be attributed greatly to the era in which Hedda lives, because her choices are highly influenced by the male dominated society. Hedda tears down everyone throughout the play, with LГ¶vborg and Brack as the only exception. After being born to a high standing family, her expectations of power are high, but due to her biologic form as a woman she is trapped and unable to take control, because Hedda has been imprisoned since girlhood by the bars of Victorian propriety, her emotional life has grown turbulent and explosive (Embler). However, after succumbing to marriage with Tesman, whom she only marries for money and respect, she loses her place in society as she, as a mere woman, cannot retain it. This slowly unwinds Hedda and eventually leads her on to her fatal path. By
  • 10. Analysis Of Unfriended By Rachel Vail Over these past few weeks, I have been reading the book, Unfriended by Rachel Vail. In the novel, the main character Truly gets put into a situation just like every other 8th grade teenage girl may deal with. She gets invited to the popular table. She was already friends with one of the girls, Natasha. However, once Natasha dumped Truly, the only one that was there for her was Hazel. Hazel gets a little odd when it comes to popularity, so when Natasha asked Truly to sit with them, Hazel got very defensive. Truly had to make a decision between the populars and the losers who turn out to be her ex best friends. However, does Truly know what it takes to be one of the populars? Are they really trying to be her friend, or is Natasha just messing with Truly to humiliate her? Truly starts to find out the real story on why she was invited with the populars, and she quickly realizes she doesn t need to pretend to be someone she is not. In Unfriended, the author starts to present the theme to the reader, when the main characteris in a tough situation. That whole oh I care so much stuff. Just to make everyone like her. She is just trying to fit in with the girls when its not working because she is one of us. Who does she think she is? (Vail 43). The theme of the novelis to not follow the crowd, because it may lead you into the wrong direction. Truly followed the populars and dropped her friends who saved her in the 6th grade. This teaches middle school girls to have more
  • 11. Similarities And Differences Between King Henry And Julius... 4.Comparing Caesar to King Henry V 4.1 Aristocratic family backgrounds King Henry V and Caesar share common historical grounds. As the third king in the Lancaster family line, King Henry was descendent of the old, aristocratic Angevin dynasty which reigned in England from 1154 to 1485, beginning with King Henry II of Plantagenet. The family dynasty began in the region of Anjou and the dynasty s expansion into Europe was considered its golden age (Vauchez, A et al. 2000:65). Similarly, Caesar too came from an old, aristocratic family that had patrician roots. In his infamous speech made at his Aunt Julia s funeral, Caesar illustrated how the Julia gens claimed ancestry from Aeneas, son of Aphrodite saying ...while the Julians...descend from the goddess Venus herself... Caesars adds that his family ...therefore hold the sanctity of kings who rule among men and of gods whole rule over kings... (Freeman 2008:52). His statements are explicit, observant, harsh, and backed up with examples and anecdotes. Many African pop musicians provide similarly critical assessments of various aspects of African life, but they choose to do so in a much subtler way. Houtondji s criticism of Africa for its serious failure is similar to that of artists like musician E.T. Mensah, who uses upbeat music to lessen the sting of his subversive lyrics. These artists do not bother with the pleasantries of creating a happy sounding piece of music. Instead, they put their message out in the open, for everyone to hear, criticize, and otherwise respond to. Though his article is undoubtedly a harsh criticism of daily life in Africa, the most important issues of all are almost masked by the complaints about the time wasting phone calls to the cable company, waiting in long lines to pay for water and electricity, and the complex requirements to obtain a driver s license. Annoying as these issues may be, Houtondji merely uses them as a pretext to hint at the deeper, darker problems facing Africa. This approach is actually more along the lines of E.T. Mensah. Houtondji and Mensah are revolutionaries in a different sense of the word than Fela Kuti. Rather than providing a message with the sole purpose of inciting the audience, they seek to inform, and to analyze the problems, with hopes of finding a solution. In his article, Houtondji offers a general and overarching criticism of aspects of life in modern Africa. Instead of focusing on the more commonly addressed important issues, such as violence, hunger, and disease, he draws attention to problems that seem petty. Though they appear to be secondary to the bigger issues, they are actually symptoms of the much deeper problems, problems that stymie the transition of Africa, as a whole, into modernity. One of Houtondji s examples provides a description of a
  • 13. Serious Crimes in the Uniform Crime Report The Uniform Crime Report (UCR) is consisted of two parts, part one and part two. Part one crimes are the eight most serious offenses, which is murder, rape, assault, robbery, burglary, arson, larceny, and motor vehicle theft. Part two crimes are all other crimes except the ones in part one. They also include drug offenses, sex crimes, and vandalism. The UCR is a large database that stores all the information of the crimes that are reported and arrests made each year in the USA. The method used to get the information to the FBI is complex. Each month a law enforcement agencies report the count of part one crimes. The advantage of UCR is that people can see what kinds of crimes happen in a specific area. The disadvantage of UCR is that many of the serious crimes are not reported because the victims think that the crimeis unimportant, they don t trust the police, or involved in something illegal during the time of the crime. The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) is also consisted of two parts but includes offenses such as runaways, vagrancy, embezzlement, drug offenses and bribery. The NIBRS gives you a brief account of each incident and arrests; it includes the incident, victim, and the offender s information. The advantage of NIBRS is that it has a broader development on crimes and is more accurate then the UCR. The disadvantage is that only twenty states have this crime report system that s less then half of the US. The Survey Research is a survey that asks

  • 28. The Influences Of Rome On The Byzantine Empire Essay Gabrielle Rechler Final Art History Paper The Influences of Rome on the Byzantine Empire The legal, cultural, and structural developments during the Roman Empire (753 BCE 476 CE) have had an effect on Western civilization. Influenced by the ideals of the ancient Greeks, the empire lived through many worldwide transformations that changed the way in which emperors governed and ruled the Roman people, and these adaptations can be seen in the style of artwork in each Roman reign. One of the most notable changes in art style is in the Late Empire Period, during the third and fourth centuries, where the change in government, from imperial rule to the tetrarchy, led artists to focus on the message of the piece rather than the individual represented, and become more abstract and geometric rather than classical and individualistic.[footnoteRef:1] Another notable period of change was under Constantine I, who overthrew the tetrarchy, and was the first Roman emperor to embrace Christianity. [1: Marilyn Stokstad and Michael W. Cothren, Art History. 4th ed., Vol 1 (London: Laurence King Publishing, 2011), 207.] During his reign, art combined the geometric style from the tetrarchy with a touch of the previous verism, demonstrating Constantine?s independent power. However, after his rule, the Roman Empire once again divided into two rulers: one for the eastern parts, and one for the western parts. In the east, the Byzantine Empire developed under the Theodosian Dynasty

Some of the things are a glimpse of what the future could imply to us and form a platform from which important things will be built. In the last few centuries, the dancing industry in the world had not been considered as an important art, and therefore, dancing was basically done informally for entertaining oneself or for layman s reasons. That was until a girl was born at the end of the of the 18th century, a girl who would grow into prominence as far as dancing was concerned; revolutionizing the danceworld and setting new platforms through which modern dancewould be established. The short stories that best exemplify humannature are Child By Tiger , Am I Blue? , and Once Upon a Time . In all these short stories, there is a climax involving the protagonist and then the author tells us how the supporting characters react. We see how the town reacts to Dick, how the world reacts to Melvin s second wish, and we see how the gardener reacts to the boy getting caught in the security system. Investing in external sources of finance can include using bank overdrafts, loans and venture capitalists, all of which my business would use. Bank overdrafts are good because my firm would only need to borrow as much as it requires when it needs it most. Similar to other catalyst, enzymes have the capability of fulfilling their function without allowing themselves to be consumed as well as disfigured. Enzymes can also carry on their function without changing the chemical equilibrium between reactants and products (Cooper GM, 2000). Enzymes main function is to help quicken the chemical reactionrate. These enzymes work in a way where there is a little area that is comparable to a depression. This depression area is known as the active site which is where the enzymes bond to. The binding of a substrate to the active site is a very specific interaction (Cooper GM, 2000). On top of the acceleration of chemical reactions, the enzymehas two other parts as well. The second function of enzymes is that they have specific reactants that they work with and these are called the substrates. These substrates help produce products for living organisms. Lastly, enzymes work in a way where if one was missing, the end product could be catastrophic. Enzymes are regulated from a state of low activity to a state of high activity and
  • 44. Poor Compliance Essay The issue and impact of poor compliance grow with the ageing of the world population. Compliance to long term therapy for chronic illnesses in developed countries averages 50%. In developing countries, the rates are even lower . Poor compliance to long term therapies severely compromises the effectiveness of treatment, making this a critical issue in population healthboth from the perspective of quality of life and of health economics. Studies consistently find significant cost savings and increases in the effectiveness of health interventions that are attributable to low cost interventions for improving compliance. Compliance is an important modifier of health system effectiveness. The WHO definition of compliance is the extent to which the patient follows medical instructions . However, the term medical is felt to be insufficient in describing the range of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clinicians now learn how to ask about medication compliance (using nonjudgmental questions followed by open ended questions, e.g. Many people find it hard to take all their medications every day .... How often do you miss doses of your medications? ). Also pharmacists have several tools at their disposal to identify noncompliance problems early and implement corrective action. The traditional pharmacistsВґ brown bag review with the elders on all their medicines (prescription and other medicines, e.g. over the counter medications) is an effective way to start a dialogue with the patient using show and tell method (pharmacists remove items from the bag, shaking tablets or capsules into the cap and say, Tell me what is this medicinefor and how you take it ) . Using pharmacy records the patient s profile and refill records and pill counts in the bottles, pharmacists can develop a fairly accurate idea of the patient s compliance pattern
  • 45. Morality in Eating Meat When asked the question, Is it right to eat beef? many Americans and people across the world expect the Hindus because of religious reasons say yea. For some people eating beef is not morally right, either because they believe the animal has the right to live just as much as we (humans) do or simply because they feel they can obtain nutrients and nourishment an alternate way. For cattleman, chicken farm producers, slaughterhouses, and etc. whose livelihood depends on the producing livestock for the American people are advocates for the consumption of meat. Some classify these people as animal killers because they grow their livestock from start to finishing weight. But for the non ranches it s hard to understand that these people like their livestock, but it s more of an admiration more of what they can produce to help the being of others in a utilitarianism way. When I mention the people who see their deeds as away utilitarianism, I m saying these people see it as an ethical principle according to which an action is right if it tends to get the most out of happiness, not only that of the reason but also of each person and thing associated with it. Producers are believed to have a honorable and principled responsibility to raise and nurture their animals in a respectful humane way. People who see feasting on animals may have had a bad experience with the way the meat was prepared for them. For example, they may have had their meat prepared raw or uncooked. The thought
  • 46. Psychoanalytic Criticism Of Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe work can be related to allot of literature criticisms, but it is most familiarized with psychoanalytic criticism and New Historicism because the stories he wrote had allot to do with the mind and how people would behave also he wrote stories based off old history and beliefs. Psychoanalytic criticism deals with the mind of the characters. Poe s work relates most to psychoanalytic criticism because he wrote allot of short stories that dealt with the mind of killers and how certain situations would affect a person s behavior and the influence it had on them which lead to horrible murders and disasters. His work can also relate to New Historicism as he implanted historical events that caused death amongst individuals and made stories based off it. Poe often wrote things that no one else had the courage to do because back then they would be considered insane and deviant. Stories like the black cat , The tell tale heart , The masque of the red death , and Morella all deal with horror, murder, and sudden death. The short story, The black cat gives the audience a story line visual of the mind of an alcoholic and the way his behavior changes over time, in different scenarios the character starts to turn abusive to the animals that he once loved. The man then starts to isolate himself from the black cat which was his favorite animal until one day he snaps and kills the black cat by hanging it to a tree with a rope. Days later a cat comes back around him that shows almost the same identity of the black cat, but the only difference is the white patch which is the bottom part of the cat body. the man then starts to grow jealous as his wife shows attention to the new cat which then leads him to murder his wife and stuffing her dead body in a wall, he later confesses to the crime and spends life in prison. This story is very dark and gives a clear identification of the mind of a troubled individual who then takes out his anger by being abusive to the animals in his environment and later his wife. Different aspects in Poe s stories look deep into the mind of a person and the reasons that leads to murder and death. Furthermore, Poe used words and had a story line that would automatically give an

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moore uses a large variety of camera shots and angles to create different effects. The camera shots included in the sequence range from bird s eye view to close up shots. At the beginning of the sequence (where the U.S were bombing parts of Kosovo) Moore uses long shots and bird s eye view to show the mass amount of devastation caused by U.S bombs. There s also a close up shot of dead bodies on the ground to illustrate the gravity of the situation. The director focuses on a close shot of the High School plaque, ironically under the Columbine High School it says home of the rebels . He uses this shot because Dylan and Eric were seen to be rebels. Moore switches between the colour camera and the black and white CCTV footage very effectively. The use of CCTV makes the sequence feel more personal and distinctive. Bright, intense illumination is used to highlight the shooters on the CCTV footage. The footage also corresponds with the emergency calls, because when the teachers and witnesses telephoned the emergency services they were talking as if in a haste and we can see why on the CCTV footage. When we see the subjective point of view shot of someone walking through the school it makes the sequence feel more personal, because we see everything the students would have seen walking through the school. There s a high angle shot of the SWAT team outside the school, high angle shots are usually used to show that
